  4. NASA is testing a new form of waste disposal aboard the ISS that could help cut down on space waste in the future. The system was designed by Nanoracks, and it utilizes the Bishop Airlock aboard the International Space Station. Nanoracks recently tested it in collaboration with NASA’s Johnson Space Center. What makes the new ISS waste disposal system so interesting and genius is the sheer simplicity of it. While it relies on some incredible technology to pull off, the basic idea is as simple as throwing a garbage bag out the window. Nanoracks designed the system in collaboration with NASA’s Johnson Space Center. Based on the tests, it appears to be more efficient and sustainable than the current model for waste removal aboard the ISS. Currently, astronauts aboard the ISS have to horde their trash and wait for the arrival of the Cygnus cargo vehicle. Once Cygnus arrives and they unload the vehicle, they pack it with their trash. The small spacecraft is then released from the ISS and allowed to burn up in re-entry into the Earth’s atmosphere. the current ISS waste disposal model works but allows for months of trash to build up on the station. A more efficient method With the new ISS waste disposal system, astronauts can gather their trash and store it in the Bishop Airlock until the high-tech garbage bag that Nanoracks developed is full. The bag can hold up to around 600 pounds of trash. Once full, the station jettisons the bag into the atmosphere to burn up. It’s an interesting system, and one that could help make commercial low-Earth orbit operations more efficient in the long run. Once the bag has been expanded and jettisoned, they refit the airlock with a new bag. This allows the astronauts to store their trash and then throw it all away without having to wait months for the Cygnus cargo vehicle to arrive in between missions. Cooper Read, the Bishop Airlock program manager at Nanoracks says that waste disposal on the ISS is a long-standing challenge. The astronauts aboard the ISS can generate up to 2,500 kg of trash per year, which is roughly two cans worth a week. As more people move to live on LEO stations, that amount will grow. As such, testing the new ISS waste disposal system now is vital to help iron out any kinks. Once perfected, the more efficient method can help astronauts live in cleaner, more efficient stations. https://bgr.com/science/the-iss-just-tested-a-new-way-to-take-out-the-trash-and-its-absolutely-genius/

  11. Mastercard is accelerating efforts to establish itself as the front running financial services provider in several parts of the world. In a new development, the US-based firm has partnered crypto gateway provider called Fasset to co-develop digital solutions to escalate crypto adoption in the country of Indonesia. The collaboration between Mastercard and Fasset aims to drive financial inclusion in Indonesia and get 92 million of its unbanked citizens to be part of the existing financial system. As per Yahoo Finance, 66 percent of the Indonesian citizenry is currently unbanked. Meanwhile, a survey by The Jakarta Post recently said that 41 percent of Indonesians own crypto assets. This partnership between Mastercard and Fasset intends to fill the financial cavities in Indonesia with appropriate digital tools.“The world is changing at an unprecedented rate. With more people relying on digital assets and technologies to become resilient, there is a need for key players in the public and private sectors to come together to create solutions that can lead to new opportunities and solutions for wider financial inclusion,” Navin Jain, the country manager for Mastercard Indonesia was quoted as saying. The development comes at a time when Asia is witnessing a constant growth in the crypto sector, especially from affluent investors. In nations like India, Vietnam, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand — the holdings of crypto and other digital assets have risen multi-fold in recent years, a report by Accenture recently claimed. The findings indicated that Thailand and Indonesia dwellers hold the maximum percentage of digital assets in Asia, followed by India, Singapore, and Thailand. “Our partnership seeks to lower the barriers to digital finance and drive greater opportunities to benefit from the use of emerging financial services. The implications on the industry are greater legitimisation of crypto assets, their use cases and areas of applications,” Hendra Suryakusuma from Fasset told the media. As for Mastercard, this is not the first pro-crypto step that the company has taken to support the nascent Web3 industry. Back in June, Mastercard inked deals with a total of seven new partners in order to open NFT access via traditional card payments to help drive NFT commerce. Mastercard's new partners include metaverse player The Sandbox along with Immutable X, Candy Digital, Mintable, Spring, Nifty Gateway, and MoonPay. Mastercard has already been working with Coinbase in order to support cash payments on the crypto exchange's recently-launched NFT platform. In May, Mastercard official Harold Bossé had said that cryptocurrencies need to be stitched into the global economic structure so intricately that they become next to invisible. At this point, Bossé said, the lack of crypto knowledge is also a major factor that is obstructing its acceptance among the masses. He also noted that even at senior management levels, there is a crippling lack of crypto knowledge. Noise co-founder Amit Khatri joins Orbital, the Gadgets 360 podcast, for a special episode. 12. Redmi and Poco absolutely love to play the rebranding game, and it definitely looks like this isn't going to stop anytime soon. In fact, Poco may be getting ready to rebrand yet another device - in this case, we're talking about the Redmi Note 10S, which launched under that name back in 2021. It's a bit late to rebrand a handset more than a year after it first surfaced, but that's exactly what some newly surfaced FCC documents show is going to happen. Poco has asked for an FCC certification based on the previous one issued for the Redmi Note 10S, given that the two handsets are identical save for some minor variations. As you can see in the screenshot above, the Redmi Note 10S (with the model number M2101K7BNY) ran MIUI 12 when it got certified, while the upcoming Poco model will launch with MIUI 13 on board - understandable, a year later. Furthermore, the Poco phone will share one RAM/storage version with its sibling (6/128GB), but also come with two new ones, which haven't been seen on the Redmi: 4/64GB and 4/128GB. It will also be available in a new blue version. The Redmi Note 10S has a 6.43-inch 1080x2400 60 Hz AMOLED screen, the MediaTek Helio G95 SoC at the helm, and a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. It comes with a quad rear camera system (64 MP main, 8 MP ultrawide, 2 MP macro, 2 MP depth), and a 13 MP selfie shooter at the front. The upcoming Poco should have all of those features too, and given the hardware here we're assuming it will be part of the C or M families of Poco devices. With the FCC certification out of the way, the official launch is probably right around the corner. https://www.gsmarena.com/poco_is_now_rebranding_the_redmi_note_10s_fcc_documents_show-news-55075.php
  13. Why would you plug in your phone when you could use a wireless CarPlay adapter? iPhone users typically love Apple’s CarPlay system. Of course, it’s easy to see why people love it so much once you’ve tried it. But if you have to plug in your phone in order to use CarPlay in your car, you’re not enjoying the best possible user experience. It’s so much more convenient when it’s wireless! So many automakers out there should be beyond embarrassed at this point. Why? It’s because their infotainment systems are atrocious. I have Apple CarPlay in my car and to be perfectly frank, it makes every built-in car infotainment system I’ve ever tried seem ancient. And I’ve tried them all… even the newer ones like the updated systems from Mercedes and Tesla. If I stop to think about it, there’s really only one problem I have with CarPlay in my car. It’s the fact that my vehicle doesn’t support Apple’s newer wireless CarPlay feature. That means I have to plug in my iPhone with a physical cable to use CarPlay. At least, that was the case until I found the CarlinKit 3.0 wireless CarPlay adapter on Amazon. And right now, all three versions of this awesome gadget are on sale with surprisingly deep discounts. Best wireless CarPlay adapter for any car Being able to have all of your iPhone’s main apps accessible right on your car’s display is so great. CarPlay offers a simple interface and quick access to all the core functionality you might need. On top of that, it supports Siri as well as third-party apps that are must-haves in your car. I cannot tell you how excited I was when Waze first came to CarPlay. Now, I seriously can’t drive anywhere without it. CarPlay even supports a widget view now. This way, you can have an animated map while things like your music player and phone controls are displayed off to the side. But not having wireless CarPlay in my car was definitely a bummer. Connecting a cable to my iPhone certainly isn’t the end of the world. Of course, it’s a whole lot easier to not have to connect a cable. That’s why I was so happy when I found this awesome wireless CarPlay adapter! The name says it all. This is the device you’ve been waiting for if you’re like me and you have a vehicle that doesn’t support wireless CarPlay connections. The CarlinKit 3.0 wireless CarPlay adapter connects to your vehicle through a standard USB-A or USB-C port and acts as a wireless conduit between your car and your iPhone. This way, you can connect to the adapter wirelessly via Bluetooth. Now you won’t have to plug your iPhone into your car every time you get in. As I said, this is the gadget you’ve been waiting for! CarlinKit 3.0 reviews Read through the reviews on Amazon and you’ll see that this wireless adapter works very well for most people. A few people do seem to run into problems, but there are fixes out there for most issues. So many people are quick to complain when all they had to do was actually read the instructions and perform a quick and easy software update. Typical. The bottom line is that the CarlinKit 3.0 wireless CarPlay adapter works very well for most people. And now is the perfect time to give it a shot. There are three different versions including the one above, and they’re all discounted right now. In addition to the 2019-2020 version, there’s one for older cars (2018-2019) and another for newer cars (2021-2022). CarlinKit 3.0 fast facts There’s really no question that this is the best wireless CarPlay adapter I have found in 2022. You don’t have to deal with a complex installation and it’s so easy to use. This model is also much more reliable than any comparable products I’ve come across. If you want to transform the Apple CarPlay in your car and make it wireless, this is the best way to do it. Here are some key takeaways that you should keep in mind if you’re considering the CarlinKit 3.0: The Carlinkit 3.0 Wireless CarPlay Adapter converts any car with wired CarPlay so that it supports wireless CarPlay Works with Audi, Porsche, Volvo, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Honda, Peugeot, Chevrolet, Ford SYNC 3.4, Mazda, and more Your car must have a factory-wired CarPlay system in order to work with this wireless CarPlay adapter No more plugging your phone into your car with a Lightning USB cable Play music, listen to podcasts, navigate with your favorite mapping app, and more — all through CarPlay with now cable needed Compatible with every iPhone model from iPhone 5 and newer as long as it’s running iOS 7.1 or later Initial connection from your iPhone to the Carlinkit 3.0 Wireless CarPlay Adapter takes between 7 and 14 seconds depending on your car and iPhone model Comes with a one-year warranty in addition to lifetime technical support Add Apple CarPlay to any car, no installation required The CarlinKit 3.0 is a fantastic wireless CarPlay adapter. But what about cars that don’t have Apple CarPlay to begin with? If you have a Tesla, you can hack CarPlay onto your car as long as you’re the daring type. But there’s another solution that’s so much easier. As a matter of fact, it’s so easy that it doesn’t even require you to install anything. It’s called the Car and Driver INTELLIDASH Plus, and it adds CarPlay to any car in seconds. This model also happens to be on sale right now at a new all-time low price! Just clip the $100 coupon on Amazon and you can get yours for only $248. This coupon could disappear at any moment though, so you’ll likely miss out unless you move quickly. There’s also an upgraded model called the INTELLIDASH PRO with wireless CarPlay that’s on sale now. If you want wireless connectivity, definitely grab one before the $75 coupon disappears. I recently told you about this awesome gadget in our coverage about how to add CarPlay to any car without installing anything. The INTELLIDASH Plus is a CarPlay device that has its own screen. You simply connect it to the power in your car, stick it on your dashboard, and you’re done! Definitely check it out if you want to add Apple CarPlay to any car that doesn’t already support it. https://bgr.com/deals/wireless-carplay-adapter-amazon/

  17. Meta Platforms will start letting more users create multiple profiles with their Facebook accounts, the company's latest attempt to encourage posting and sharing on its social network. As part of a test, certain Facebook members will be able to create as many as four additional profiles, and each one won't need to include a person's real name or identity. Users could have one for friends and another for co-workers, for example, each with its own feed. But they will only be able to comment or like another post with one profile. Meta is stepping up efforts to drive engagement on the world's biggest social network, which has seen growth slow — especially among younger users. Facebook has previously offered multiple profiles but in a more limited fashion. Public figures, for example, have been able to manage multiple profiles for years, and the company has also let users create different identities for dating or college. Additional profiles are still required to adhere to Facebook's content policies and will tie back to a user's core account, meaning rule violations on one profile will affect the others, the company said. When launching student profiles in 2020, Meta executives said that users were looking to interact around interests that were more specific than the things they might find with their main social experience. With multiple profiles, Facebook hopes users will create separate identies for their different interests, like gaming, travel or food, according to the spokesperson. The test won't change how Meta calculates its monthly or daily active user totals, which are reported during earnings. The multiple-profile effort is just a test for now, and includes some of the US users and those in a handful of other countries. https://gadgets360.com/social-networking/news/facebook-testing-ways-allow-users-create-five-profiles-tied-to-single-account-3159383#pfrom=topstory
  18. Introduction The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra - it is hands down the best phone you cannot buy so far. Celebrating Xiaomi's 10th anniversary, the Ultra pushes the limits of the Mi 10 series and brings the lineup to a close with the ultimate screen, the fastest charging, and the best of cameras. The Mi 10 Ultra upgrades on the already great Mi 10 Pro with plenty display enhancements - the screen now supports true 10bit color and hence it can display 1 billion colors. It is also much brighter at 800 nits, but the most important upgrade is probably the 120Hz refresh rate. The rear camera is truly impressive - it has everything you can think of, in the realm of current technology, that is. The main camera relies on a new OmniVision 48MP sensor with an OIS lens, then comes another 48MP snapper by Sony behind a 5x zoom lens. There is also a 12MP portrait shooter for 2x zoomed photos and a 20MP cam with a 12mm ultra-wide lens that is also suited for ultra-macro shots. One thing that is a first-ever is the option to capture 8K clips with the 5x imager. How about that?! Another first is the 120W fast wired charging. The 120W brick in the retail box that will refill 40% of the battery in a mere 5 minutes. Let that sink in! The Ultra also supports 50W fast wireless charging provided you buy Xiaomi's own 55W wireless charger that's sold separately. Such a special edition can't be the same without some sort of unique wrapping and Xiaomi does offer one - in addition to the Obsidian Black and Mercury Silver versions, you can also opt for a limited Transparent Edition. Unfortunately, the Ultra is currently slated for sales only in China and Xiaomi seems firm in its decision despite various requests across forums and even online petitions. Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra specs: Body: 162.4x75.1x9.5mm, 222g; curved Gorilla Glass front and back, aluminum frame; Obsidian Black, Mercury Silver, Transparent color schemes. Screen: 6.67" Super AMOLED, 1080x2340px resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 386ppi; 120Hz refresh rate; HDR10+ support, 800nits brightness, 1B colors. Chipset: Snapdragon 865 (7nm+): Octa-core CPU (1x2.84 GHz Kryo 585 & 3x2.42 GHz Kryo 585 & 4x1.8 GHz Kryo 585); Adreno 650 GPU. Memory: 8/12/16GB RAM, 128/256/512GB built-in UFS 3.1 storage. OS/Software: Android 10, MIUI 12. Rear camera: Wide (main): 48MP, 1/1.32" sensor, 1.2µmm pixel size, 25mm equiv. focal length, f/1.9 aperture, Laser AF, OIS. Telephoto: 12MP, 1/2.55", 1.4µmm, 50mm lens, f/2.0, Dual Pixel PDAF. Long-range telephoto: 48MP, 1/2.0", 0.8µmm, 120mm lens, f/4.1, Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS. Ultrawide angle: 20MP, 1/2.8", 1.0µmm, 12mm, f/2.2, PDAF, ultra-macro. Front camera: 20 MP, f/2.3, 0.8µmm, 1080p video. Video recording: Rear camera: 8K 4320p@24fps, 4K 2160p@30/60fps, FullHD 1080p@30/60/120/240/960fps; Front camera: FullHD 1080p@30fps. Battery: 4,500mAh, 120W fast charging support, USB-PD support, 50W wireless charging, 10W reverse wireless charging. Connectivity: 5G, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac/ax, dual GPS, USB-C Misc: Stereo speakers; Optical under-display fingerprint reader; IR port. Ingress protection is what you won't be getting with the Mi 10 Ultra and it seems 10 years weren't enough for the maker to invest in such thing. Then again, Xiaomi did put money on a variety of startups and devices, that we just can't imagine a world without a Mi Band, Mi vacuums, Mi Air Purifier, Mi Routers, Mi Bulbs, and Mi whatnot. So, yes, we can live without the IP68 rating but it's really nice to have - if someone from Xiaomi is reading this. Even though we won't be seeing the Mi 10 Ultra officially outside China, we are sure many will be getting this Chinese model one way or the other. And now we are going to find if it is worth the fuss and the hassle of getting a grey import. So, it's time we unbox this commemorative Mi 10 Ultra Transparent Edition! Unboxing the Mi 10 Ultra The Mi 10 Ultra is packed in a tall paper box and you may think you will get more contents than, say, the Mi 10 Pro bundle. Well, that's both true and false. The box contains a charger, a USB-C cable, a 3.5mm adapter, and a transparent silicone case. You aren't getting any extra goodies. Then again that heavy brick is the ultimate 120W charger - currently the fastest in the world. And the USB cable is rated at 6A - something you don't see every day and definitely - a cable that isn't standard-issue. if you want to enhance your experience with the Ultra, you may also opt for the 55W wireless charger Xiaomi is selling separately. There is also a special plastic case with carbon fiber pattern (again, sold separately), but hiding the Transparent edition's back with a case would be a real shame. https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_10_ultra-review-2158.php
