  1. Global stock markets have sunk despite central banks around the world announcing a co-ordinated effort to ease the effects of the coronavirus. London's FTSE 100 index has fallen more than 6%, and other major European markets have seen similar falls. On Sunday, the US Federal Reserve cut interest rates to almost zero and launched a $700bn stimulus programme. It was part of co-ordinated action announced alongside the eurozone, the UK, Japan, Canada, and Switzerland. However, investors are worried that central banks now have few options left to combat the impact of the pandemic. The new governor of the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey, has pledged to take fresh "prompt action again" when necessary to stop the damage to the economy from the coronavirus pandemic. David Madden, a market analyst at CMC Markets, said that while central bankers were trying to calm the markets, "in reality it is having the opposite effect". "The radical measures have sent out a very worrying message to dealers, and that is why they are blindly dumping stocks." In London, firms in the travel sector saw some of the biggest falls. Holiday firm Tui sank more than 30% after it said it would suspend the "majority" of its operations. BA-owner IAG fell more than 20% after it said it would cut its flight capacity by at least 75% in April and May. The FTSE 250, which includes a number of well-known UK-focused companies, was trading down by more than 12%. All the main European share indexes saw big falls, with France's Cac 40 index down more than 8% and Germany's Dax dropping 7%. Earlier in Asia, Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 closed down 2.5% and the Shanghai Composite in China ended the day 3.3% lower.

  5. Ten more people in the UK have died in the last 24 hours after testing positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of deaths to 21. The UK government's chief medical adviser said the patients were all in "at-risk" groups from across England. The total number of confirmed cases in the UK has reached 1,140 while 37,746 people have been tested. It comes as US President Donald Trump decided to suspend all travel from the US to the UK and Ireland. Vice president Mike Pence said the ban would begin at midnight on Monday eastern standard time (04:00 GMT), following a "unanimous recommendation" from health experts. The US has already banned travel from 26 European countries. Of the latest deaths in the UK, eight were men aged over 80 and all but one were known to have underlying health conditions. They were in being treated in hospitals in Buckinghamshire, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Leicester, London and Chester. Prof Whitty, the UK government's chief medical adviser, said: "I understand this increase in the number of deaths linked to Covid-19 will be a cause for concern for many. The public should know every measure we are taking is seeking to save lives and protect the most vulnerable."
  6. One of the most obvious downsides to traveling is how uncomfortable flights, bus rides, and rail journeys are. Being crammed like a sardine into a seat that’s half the size it should be just isn’t enjoyable for anyone, especially on those long-haul flights. Besides earplugs or noise-canceling headphones, and an eye mask, travel pillows are a must-have to make air travel more bearable and help you catch some ZZZ's. And while there are many options on the market—from inflatables to U-shaped pillows to the classic microbead ones you’ll find at any duty-free store—there’s no doubt that some offer better support and are more well-constructed than others. So, to sort out the doozies from the duds, we spent countless hours testing 13 of the most po[CENSORED]r travel pillows on the market and ranked them based on their support, comfort, portability, and durability. Our top pick is the Cabeau Evolution Classic Travel Pillow (available at Amazon for $29.99) for its high-quality memory foam and 360-degree support that keeps your head and neck elevated and aligned. We’ve also detailed the best pillows for each type of sleeper and evaluated pillows of all different shapes, sizes, and prices, too.

  9. Sharp rises on US and European stock markets on Friday have begun to fade despite fresh attempts by authorities to ease the economic pain caused by the coronavirus outbreak. Wall Street's Dow Jones opened 5% up, while markets in London, Paris, and Frankfurt had traded 7% higher. But the main US indexes drifted lower to about 3% up, while the FTSE 100 closed 2.5% higher. It comes a day after Wall Street suffered its biggest losses since 1987. Investors fear economies could slide into recession as a result of the pandemic and steps to tackle it. In many countries business has been disrupted, events cancelled and schools closed in an effort to contain the spread of the virus. On Friday, the European Union said it will put in place a package of measures, including a €37bn euro (£33bn) investment initiative. And German finance minister Olaf Scholz said his country could part nationalise firms to tackle the crisis. 'Whatever we need' In the US, Congress is expected to vote later today on a bill that will provide sick pay and short-term loans for those affected by the outbreak, among other measures. US Secretary Steven Mnuchin pledged the US would use "whatever tools we need". In an interview with US broadcaster CNBC, he said he believed the coronavirus slowdown would be short-term and said the situation in 1987, when markets dropped some 20%, was a "much scarier time
