  3. A few days ago we told you that, as sti[CENSORED]ted, NVIDIA will launch the new RTX 3060 graphics on the 25th of this month, and in fact some retailers are already listing this GPU in their online stores, admitting pre-orders and reservations. Now we get the information that an official NVIDIA distributor in Pakistan is skipping the NDA and has started selling Palit's RTX 3060 openly, and at a totally outrageous price. Are the distributors themselves speculating? It is quite common for South Asian retailers to not respect confidentiality agreements with manufacturers, but there is a stretch from that to openly selling graphics that have not yet been officially announced. For more INRI, they are selling them for approximately double their official price, so there is a clear profit motive in this action. RTX 3060 graphics now on sale in Pakistan It is assumed that the official price of the RTX 3060 is 329 euros, although it is true that today this does not mean much and more when this GPU is not going to be launched in reference models but we will only see custom models by the assemblers , whose price can be quite high. In any case, the Pakistani distributor ZAH Computers, has begun to sell the Palit GeForce RTX 3060 Dual OC models at a price of 120,000 PKR (Pakistani Rupees), the equivalent of about 620 euros at the exchange rate and which is almost double the price. NVIDIA recommended retail. Graphics RTX 3060 Pakistan The seller justifies this price by blaming the high customs fees and the import prices of this graphics card, which in a few words is known to be nothing but excuses behind which this type of distributors has been hiding for many years to raise prices and get more benefits; they are clearly speculating to profit from these sales. The bad news, relative to the price, is that it is quite possible that these prices will not drop when the RTX 3060 go to light next February 25. Unlike preliminary pre-order prices in the EU and US markets, Pakistani prices will remain intact and indeed are likely to rise due to rising inflation and the declining value of its currency against the dollar and the currency. euro. According to the source, this ZAH Computers store has already sold quite a few units and, in fact, they have enough stock for those users willing to pay these prices. We have to remember that with the same amount of money you can buy (if you find it in stock) an RTX 3070. NVIDIA Ampere graphics Initially, the Ampere architecture debuted with the launch of the RTX 3080 on September 17, 2020, closely followed by the top of the range, the RTX 3090 on the 24th of the same month. After that, the launch of the RTX 3070 followed already on October 27, and it was not until December 2 that the RTX 3060 Ti made its appearance. Now, the RTX 3060 will be launched on February 25, so as you can see NVIDIA is going from top to bottom and with a fairly large gap between releases, something that in theory should allow to accumulate stock so that there is no shortage.
  4. Apple has launched a new Chrome extension to help iCloud users remember their passwords. The new iCloud Passwords tool will sync passwords between the Safari and Chrome web browsers. “iCloud Passwords is a Chrome extension for Windows users that allows you to use the same strong Safari passwords you create on your iPhone, iPad or Mac when visiting websites in Chrome on your Windows PC,” the Chrome web store explains. “iCloud Passwords also saves any new passwords you create in Chrome to your iCloud Keychain so that they are also available on your Apple devices.” Users of iCloud for Windows will now see a new “Passwords” section under the list of available services (providing they have updated to version 12.0). By then clicking “Apply,” they will be redirected to download the new Chrome extension. Check out our roundup of the best password managers We've assembled a list of the best anonymous browsers Also, here's our list of the best password management software around Password protected Once the iCloud Passwords extension is running, Chrome users will gain access to the passwords that they have created, had automatically generated, or saved in Safari for macOS or iOS. The feature also works reciprocally, with any passwords stored in Chrome also becoming available on iPhone, iPad, and other Apple devices. The new extension becomes part of a relatively small group of tools that Apple offers on the Windows ecosystem. Before the launch of iCloud Passwords, Apple’s only Windows solutions of note, besides iTunes, were iCloud Bookmarks for older PCs, and Apple TV+ for Xbox users. Password management remains a hot topic in the security sector, however, particularly as a huge number of data leaks still occur due to inadequate password protection. The new iCloud sync tool should help prevent password fatigue for Chrome users, encouraging them to use stronger credentials.
  5. Fortnite has added new Predator challenges with the most recent update. Players will need to complete them in order to unlock the intergalactic hunter. Predator isn't available itself yet, but you can get lots of cosmetic goodies in the meantime. One challenge will send you to three different locations across the map in order to talk to different NPCs. The challenge is to talk with Beef Boss, Remedy, and Dummy. The challenges were first made available on January 13. You can complete them now but need to be careful in case others are nearby and could get an easy kill on you. Now, where's the beef? We will help you find it! Or at least the beef's boss. Where To Find Beef Boss, Remedy, and Dummy Beef Boss, Remedy, and Dummy are all located right next to the Stealthy Stronghold where you find the mysterious pod. They each have multiple spawn points on the map--but it appears those have been tweaked so they always show up around the same area so players can complete these challenges. Here's a map with their specific location. Beef Boss is located next to the food truck on the top of the hill near Stealthy Stronghold, Dummy is just down the hill next to a chest and a giant rock, and Remedy is a little further away in the house to the east. You'll need to speak to all three to complete the challenge. GameSpot Report & Deals Newsletters Get the latest gaming news, reviews, and deals sent to your inbox, FREE! 6. Bernie Sanders’ Inauguration Day meme has not only become very po[CENSORED]r, but it has also helped charities raise money. Soon after the Vermont senator’s picture — sitting on a folding chair at the Capitol, wearing a jacket and mittens–went viral, his campaign team came up with the “Chairman Sanders” sweatshirt, followed by other merchandise, featuri ng the picture. The proceeds from the sales were to go to charities in Vermont. The senator’s office recently announced that the merchandise had raised almost $1.8 million (Rs 13,12,93,800) that Sanders and his wife Jane said would go to their home state charities including local Meals on Wheels group, local senior centers, the Vermont Parent Child Network and others. Sanders was quoted as saying in a statement, “We’re glad we can use my internet fame to help Vermonters in need. But even this amount of money is no substitute for action by Congress, and I will be doing everything I can in Washington to make sure working people in Vermont and across the country get the relief they need in the middle of the worst crisis we’ve faced since the Great Depression.”
  7. Health Secretary Matt Hancock has urged people to, "stay at home and reduce all social contact that is not absolutely necessary". But are people acting on his advice and how does their behaviour compare with previous lockdowns? What does the data show? People are leaving their homes more than during the first days of the March lockdown, according to data from several sources. Apple and Google collect "mobility data", which is pulled together by recording the location histories on people's mobile devices. They then take that data and compare how different it is to a national "baseline" established in early 2020, before the pandemic started. We used the data to look at what it showed for the first Friday of each lockdown in England : lockdown one (which began on 23 March, 2020) lockdown two (which began on 5 November 2020) lockdown three (which began on 5 January 2021) The Google data covers England, Scotland and Wales, while the Apple data also includes Northern Ireland. We are looking at this data relative to English lockdown rules. This means that in November, during England's second lockdown, the data might be slightly swayed by mobility in other nations with less strict coronavirus restrictions. Both now and in March, all countries had "stay at home" rules at the same time. Data from Apple's mobility report shows that on the first Friday of the most recent lockdown, people were driving and walking around at twice the rate of the first lockdown. Public transport use was also higher. Chart showing apple mobility data Similarly, data from Google gives us more clues about activity outside the home. Workplaces appear noticeably busier than in the first lockdown but the gap is smaller when it comes to parks and supermarkets. It's worth noting that in both the Google and Apple reports, people appear to be moving around a lot less during lockdown three than in lockdown two in November. Chartg shwoing google mobility data Separate data from the route-search app Citymapper shows about twice as many routes were planned in Birmingham, Manchester and London in early January 2021 compared with March 2020. Are more people breaking the rules then? It's important to note that increased levels of activity - compared with the first lockdown - don't necessarily mean more people are flouting the rules. Could I be fined for breaking lockdown rules? Fines 'increasingly likely' for rule-breakers More things are open now compared with March last year, including nurseries, garden centres and estate agents. This could explain why more people are going to work. And while these numbers suggest more movement, the Office for National Statistics' weekly survey (conducted over the Christmas period) on attitudes to coronavirus, suggests almost 80% of people in Great Britain still support restrictions. The same survey shows that over the course of the pandemic (even when rules were loosened) around nine in 10 people say they have consistently followed social distancing and contact rules. This survey is regularly updated but has not yet covered the third lockdown. Banner image reading 'more about coronavirus' SYMPTOMS: What are they and how to guard against them? TESTING: How do I get a virus test? SUPPORT BUBBLES: What are they and who can be in yours? TEST AND TRACE: How does it work? Banner But police officers across the country have reported some elements of lockdown fatigue. Paul Netherton, deputy chief constable of Devon and Cornwall Police, told BBC Breakfast: "I think people are beginning to get fed up with it. I can understand that but we have to be firm, we have to save lives, we have to make sure people are keeping apart, isolating and staying at home." The Office for National Statistics' survey also notes an increased pessimism - over time - about when the crisis might end.
  8. What is the "Rename multiple photos or files at once" video tutorial? The video tutorial is about renaming many photos or files at once. Specifically, how to rename files from something unclear to meaningful names; and for multiple files at once. Why rename photos, videos, or other files? You have certainly noticed that when taking pictures with a camera; be it a compact camera, dslr, no mirror or even a phone, the files generated are named "P108493.jpg" or "DSG0985.jpg". These are filenames that make no sense; which shows us nothing without seeing what the file contains. That is why it is a good idea to rename files; and to avoid wasting time, we will rename them all at once. I have two methods for you to rename multiple photos 1. Method 1 for renaming group photos: Even in Windows Explorer, we can rename multiple photos at once. All you have to do is select all the files you want to rename, press F2 (or right-click / rename). We then choose a name that tells us where the photos were taken and when. For example, "Munte_Busteni_Iulie_2017", and after finishing, I would hit Enter. Later we will notice that all files are renamed; in addition, each received a unique number (1), (2), (3), etc. 2. Method 2 for renaming photos or group files: Here we will use a free application which is very interesting; in the sense that it can extract different data from exif; data that we can display in the name we choose. I found it extremely useful to choose a name to describe the location; in addition to using the exact date and time the picture was taken. So you can instantly find a photo taken on the morning of July 3, 2018; without looking at photos, for example. Video Tutorial - Rename multiple photos or files at once
  9. The UK's motor industry could suffer production losses of £55bn over the next five years if no Brexit deal is agreed, the sector's lobby group says. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders is urging the government to get a deal that avoids resorting to tariffs under World Trade Organization rules. The automotive sector across Europe has already been badly hit by the pandemic, the SMMT said. A further blow from trade tariffs would set it back further, it added. The UK is currently in a transition period, having left the European Union on 31 January, but this transition period ends in 38 days. An exit from the period without a deal minimising trade barriers including tariffs would have "a severe impact on the sector's ability to develop and manufacture the next generation of zero emission cars and vans, as well as holding back market uptake of these vehicles," the SMMT said. "Automotive is nothing if not determined, adaptable and resilient, yet, as the clock ticks ever closer to midnight on Brexit negotiations, the competitiveness and employment we need get back to growth - green growth - hangs in the balance," said the group's chief executive, Mike Hawes. World Trade Organization (WTO) tariffs would cost the UK car business £55.4bn by 2025 with annual production falling below one million units, the SMMT estimates. The government did not immediately respond to a request for comment. UK car production suffered its slowest September since 1995 as the pandemic continued to batter demand, industry figures published last month showed. Just 114,732 vehicles rolled off production lines in the month, down 5% on September last year. UK and European carmakers have warned that a no-deal Brexit could put a £100bn dent in the region's car industry in the next five years, adding to heavy losses already caused by Covid-19. A letter signed by 23 trade groups across Europe in September urged the government to make a deal rather than default to WTO rules. A deal is seen as crucial because of how interconnected the industry is, with parts passing many borders as a car is assembled

  11. Having a space within your home where you can go to focus on your personal goals is important for self-care Making an at-home gym doesn’t have to be costly. There are many simple ways that you can set yourself up for a successful home workout and honor your need for some space to focus on self-care. 1. Speaker Speakers come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. You can find high-quality speakers that meet your specific needs for a low cost. Investing in a speaker will allow you to transform the atmosphere of your designated home-gym space into an environment that’s akin to a workout class or gym. On days where you simply need a few moments of quite time to yourself you can play relaxing music from your home speaker and use your gym area to harness your zen. 2. Mats and padding Advertisement Purchasing a yoga mat is a great start to procuring items for your self-care area. Spending a bit more money on dense floor guards and additional mats means you won’t have to worry about stressing your joints on concrete or feeling sticky from carpeting. Adding floor guards underneath your workout mats will also help curb any friction that may occur between your gym equipment and flooring. Make sure you have blankets and pillows within arm’s reach for days where you need to incorporate restorative yoga poses into your daily self-care practice. 3. Adjustable weights If you can switch the weight settings on dumbbells, kettlebells, or battle ropes your home gym will feel more fully formed. You can also simply adjust the sets and repetitions that you do for certain exercise if you wish to use a single set of weights. Don’t feel like you have to lift heavier than is comfortable for your body in order to see progress. Go easy on yourself and use weights that vary in size. 4. Set up an agility ladder You don’t need to purchase an elliptical, treadmill, or spin bike to get in a high-intensity cardio session. Using an agility ladder is a fun and simple way to get your heart rate up. Agility ladders are lightweight, inexpensive, and easy to store. You can use them both in and outdoors. Cardio shouldn’t feel punishing. Pick a type of cardio that you really enjoy whether it be dancing, walking, or leaping your way through an agility ladder, choose what’s right for you. 5. Pack a gym bag Investing in gym equipment won’t mean much if you never get around to using it. When you prepare your workout clothes and pack a mock “gym bag” with all the items you need to have an uninterrupted workout, you’re more likely to stick to your planned exercise schedule. Make sure you keep a foam roller in your bag for active recovery days. Your gym space should be a place where you go to connect with your body’s needs no matter how you’re feeling.
  12. Morocco’s Ministry of Health has announced the vaccination of 257,291 citizens across the country, as of Tuesday, February 2, at 6 p.m. Health authorities have also announced 835 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours. Today’s figure brings the total number of Morocco’s confirmed COVID-19 cases to 472,273. Moroccan health authorities announced 795 new recoveries from COVID-19, increasing the total number of recovered patients in the country to 450,847. The number represents a national recovery rate of 95.5%. In the past 24 hours, 22 patients succumbed to the disease. The regions of Beni Mellal-Khenifra (six cases, no deaths), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (five cases, no deaths), and Guelmim-Oued Noun (three cases, no deaths) recorded the smallest numbers of new COVID-19 cases in Morocco in the past 24 hours.
  13. Just in time for the holidays, Valve is hosting its annual Winter Sale right now on Steam. As usual, that means you can save big on thousands of games and DLC. The Steam Winter Sale runs until January 5 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. There are tons of stellar deals to take advantage of, including discounts on some of the best games of 2020. Make it through the standard server errors that are accompanying the sale's launch and you'll see it doesn't have a corresponding minigame or anything terribly in-depth to it, as some past Steam sales have. That said, you'll notice birds adorning the various hubs on the Steam store, and you can get "festive bird" stickers for use on Steam that celebrate various games. You can grab these from the Steam points shop. Now Playing: Game Of The Year 2020 | Half-Life: Alyx But the real highlight of a Steam sale are the deals, and there is no shortage of them, including great new games released in 2020. Our Game of the Year, Half-Life: Alyx, is discounted to $45, although bear in mind you'll need a VR headset in order to play it. Other GameSpot Game of the Year nominees are on sale, including Hades for $20, Yakuza: Like a Dragon for $45, and Spiritfarer for $22.49. With Halo's Master Chief Collection now complete on PC, you can pick it up for just $24, which works to about $4 per game--a real steal. Alternatively, you can buy its individual games for $6 a pop. Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete edition, the formerly PS4-exclusive open-world action game, is down to $40. Another ex-PS4 exclusive, Death Stranding, drops to $30. Fall Guys may have fallen out of the zeitgeist compared to its launch, but it still makes for goofy fun and is down to $16. Another massively successful indie game from this year, Among Us, is $1 off, bringing its price to $4. Phasmophobia sees a small discount that takes it to $12.59, and Stardew Valley, fresh off update 1.5, is $10. Doom Eternal was one of the year's best shooters and can be had for just $19.79. No Man's Sky, which has improved dramatically since its launch and continues to get substantial free updates, is down to $30. Monster Hunter World drops to $19.79, while its Iceborne expansion is down to $24.79. If The Mandalorian has put you in the mood for Star Wars, Jedi: Fallen Order is $24 and Star Wars: Squadrons is $24. Or if Cyberpunk 2077's brand of cyberpunk isn't doing it for you, Ghostrunner is down to $22.49. Coinciding with this sale, voting is now live for the Steam Awards. You can vote for your picks in 10 different categories, including Game of the Year, from now until January 3 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET. Winners to be announced on January 4 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET.
  14. Big-time miner Simon Byrne went the extra mile and made a portable RTX 3080 mining rig that is capable of going 0-60mph in under 4.5 seconds. The vehicle Byrne used is the BMW i8, and in the trunk is a small RTX 3080 farm with six GPUs. Simon uses this machine to make money on the go when he is away from his massive 78 RTX 3080 mining farm. We reached out to Byrne to verify this system is real, and he confirms that he made it himself. In fact, when we asked if it was real, he responded: "Indeed, just to annoy gamers." Image 1 of 2 (Image credit: Hardware Times) (Image credit: Simeon Byrne) (Image credit: Hardware Times) (Image credit: Simeon Byrne) Byrne also gave us some additional info on how well the farm functions inside the car. As it turns out, the BMW i8 has more than enough power from its battery pack to power the miniature RTX 3080 farm. The car can output up to 3500W from its main outlet, and the mining rig consumes just 1500W. The only "issue" is that the rear hatch/trunk needs to stay open, or the mining rig will overheat. (He also says that the system is connected using an inverter.) If you are unfamiliar with the BMW i8, the hybrid car is optimized towards performance with 369 horsepower in total, but just 141hp comes from the i8's combustion engine, which means more than half of the car's power output comes from electric motors. To cope with all that power, the i8 comes with an 11.6kWh 353V lithium-ion battery pack; in layman's terms, the i8's battery pack is more than adequate to power several gaming/mining rigs if necessary. Byrne also shared his broader opinion of cryptocurrencies, saying, "Cryptocurrency is open-sourced & decentralized. It's trustless, and there isn't interference from a third party. No one owns or controls it, and it does not have a governing body." "Crypto may be driven by code, but it's fueled by a passionate, altruistic, open-sourced community. Individuals who voluntarily invest their time & energy helping others without coercion or the threat of violence. They recognize that their success is dependant on the success of others. I'm not in Crypto to make a fast buck, but I'll take the bonus; I'm in it because it's a vision of a utopian world where services are acquired through voluntary relationships."

  16. Genshin Impact's next big update is almost here, with a new event set to bring heaps of new content to the game. Most anticipated among the game's fanbase is the arrival of Xiao as a playable character, an anemo polearm-wielding character first introduced in Liyue's archon quests. The update will take place on February 2 at 5 PM ET, with the servers anticipated to go down for around 5 hours for the update. Most of the new content, including Xiao's banner, the new weapon banner, Xiao's story quest, and the Lantern Rite festival will be live as soon as the maintenance is over. The 4-star rate-up characters included on Xiao's banner have also been announced, including cryo archer Diona, electro claymore-wielder Beidou, and pyro claymore character Xinyan. The banner will be shorter than most of Genshin Impact's event banners have been so far, running only two weeks until February 17. After that, a new banner with 5-star electro sword character Keqing will be released, marking the first time a standard 5-star character will have been featured on a rate-up event banner. The 4-star rate up characters on Keqing's banner will be geo catalyst user Ningguang, hydro catalyst healer Barbara, and pyro sword user Bennett--one of the game's most po[CENSORED]r 4-star characters. With Xiao acting as one of the pivotal characters in the Lantern Rite event, players will have to complete his story quest before participating in any of the event's many quests and challenges. Accordingly, the "Alatus Chapter" story quest will be accessible to players over AR 23 for the duration of the event, and will not require a story key to unlock. After the event the quest will require a key, and the minimum level will be raised to AR 40. You can check out more details about the Lantern Rite event here. The new update comes with a heap of new rewards spread out over the next month and a bit, including generous amounts of wishes and primogems for players looking to snag a new 5-star character or two, as well as a new source of fragile resin in the battle pass. The update notice also make note of more content to come, including "more character event wishes to follow during Version 1.3." With the currently announced character banners only accounting for four weeks of the game's usual six-week update cycle, it's likely Mihoyo will release another banner for the final two weeks that may feature as-yet unannounced characters.
  17. In 2015, archaeologists Jeffrey Blomster and Victor Salazar Chávez began excavating the Mexican site of Etlatongo, a 3400-year-old village in the mountains of Oaxaca. They chose a spot in the center of the site, one that appeared to be an important public space. But instead of finding anything resembling a palace or a temple, the team unearthed a flat stone floor that extended at least 46 meters (about half the length of a soccer field), flanked by low steps made from clay and stone. Mounds at least 1 meter tall enclosed this narrow area on either side. After several years of excavations and mapping, the scientists now conclude that the mysterious structure was a court used in a famous ballgame once played all over Mesoamerica. This court’s early date may point to the game’s important role in helping Mesoamerican societies develop social hierarchies and political complexity. Radiocarbon dates show the Etlatongo court was constructed between 1443 and 1305 B.C.E. The court was used for about 175 years and remodeled once during that time, Salazar Chávez and Blomster — both at George Washington University, report today in Science Advances. The only older known ball court is at the site of Paso de la Amada in the Mexican state of Chiapas, built about 1650 B.C.E. Although the exact game played at the time is unclear, many later versions resembled a combination of soccer and basketball that employed the hips: Players bounced rubber balls off their hips and through hoops mounted high on the court’s walls. The Etlatongo court doesn’t include hoops; at this early date, the game may have been more like hip-volleyball. The Etlatongo court existed during a transformative time in Mesoamerica, when the region’s first political and religious leaders emerged and trade between regions ramped up. “It’s the period when what we think of Mesoamerican culture begins,” Salazar Chávez says. The game would have helped strengthen alliances and trade between communities by bringing different teams together, and also given budding leaders a chance to flaunt their power and wealth by hosting feasts. The new phenomenon of inequality could have been been reinforced by who was given the best positions on the courtside mounds to watch the game, Blomster says. Shoring up the evidence for a ball court at Etlatongo are figurines found in the earth now on top of the ancient court. The human figures are wearing padded belts, a necessary piece of equipment for hitting heavy rubber balls with your hips. Similar figurines have been found at Mesoamerica’s first city, called San Lorenzo, which flourished on Mexico’s gulf coast between 1400 and 1000 B.C.E. San Lorenzo was the first capital of the Olmec, the first culture in Mesoamerica to build large palaces and temples. In the past, many archaeologists thought the Olmec spread their religion and social structure through Mesoamerica, making it the region’s “mother culture.” But Etlatongo is 300 kilometers away from that coastal city, and even farther from Paso de la Amada. It’s also high in the mountains, unlike either of those sites. The Etlatongo court’s surprising location “suggests that the ball game is an extremely old, broad tradition throughout Mesoamerica that doesn’t originate with any one group,” says David Anderson, an archaeologist at Radford University who has studied other ancient courts. But Annick Daneels, an archaeologist at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico City, points out that the ball player figurines and much of the pottery found in Etlatongo were Olmec style, suggesting that the town's court “could be inspired by Olmec contact.” Little of San Lorenzo has been excavated, she says, and an even earlier ball court could be waiting to be discovered there.
  18. game information Developer: Awe Interactive Genre(s): Action, Rhythm, Music # of players: No Online Multiplayer Cheats: On GameFAQs More Details and Credits » I don’t know how many times I’ve found myself frozen by indecision, unable to decide whether I quite specifically want to play an FPS, a roguelike, or a rhythm game. Okay, I do know how many times—none—but now, that’s one less thing in life for me to potentially worry about. Here, we have a game that forces these disparate genres into an unholy tryst, and the sweaty aftermath is as attractive as it is unnerving. Please, let me explain. Before I say anything else, I have to confess that, for at least ten minutes after first starting the game up, I genuinely believed that I’d run into a technical issue. A bug, perhaps, or a compatibility issue with my graphics card. Colour saturation has been deliberately kicked up to terrifying levels; the first area gives the impression of somebody having smeared syrup over my monitor when I wasn’t looking. This can be reduced in the menu, but it’s not possible to achieve ‘normal’ graphics. I got used to it. Eventually. The main hook is that the actions of your weapons, both firing and reloading, are tied into the synth-tinged rock soundtrack. You need to act in time to the beat of the music. Try to shoot out of sync, and your gun jams. Attempt to reload outside of the beat (something that can require multiple button taps), and nothing happens. It makes sense, then, that enemy attacks are also tethered to the music. It’s a constant dance on a knife edge between me and the monsters. It’s a system that takes some getting used to, but once I feel that I’m on top of it, it offers up some uniquely satisfying moments. Against a background of rumbling power chords and squealing guitar solos, I shimmy funkily through the dungeon like a demon-hunting Bruno Mars. Dun-dun-dun-dun, the guitar murmurs. Pow-pow-pow-pow, roars my gun, as I take out two bats and a worm. I automatically start timing my taps of the dodge button to match the music, even though I don’t need to. It’s strangely intoxicating. Doom is a clear influence, something that becomes increasingly obvious the further I progress. Constant movement is essential (something BPM explicitly tells me), and the claustrophobic rooms will often be crammed full of enemies. The problem is that Doom has a rhythm all of its own. A constant, urgent rhythm that keeps you on edge until danger has passed. Forcing this into the middle of an entirely different rhythm dictated by music is disorienting. Discordant. The result is that the player is required to dance to two different internal beats simultaneously, something that I imagine many people will struggle with. I do, certainly in later stages where Doom’s rhythm becomes louder and more important. Therefore—and I feel almost guilty for saying this—the game only truly shines when the heart of the rhythm mechanic is torn from the experience. Just beat it Turning on auto-rhythm unshackles my weapons from the soundtrack. Suddenly, it doesn’t matter that a minor enemy can knock 25% off my health in one hit (even on Easy). I can throw my playstyle wholeheartedly into the echoes of Doom. Not only am I doing better, I’m having more fun. I can better appreciate the variety in the weapons to be found. Boss fights become challenges I relish rather than chores I dread. Game modifiers that BPM identifies as Challenges can be unlocked, although how, I have no idea (this is one of several things the game has no interest in explaining). One I accidentally gain access to is Full Auto, which truly brings the game to life for me. Difficulty defaults to Hard, but all weapons have automatic fire, and there’s no need to worry about the rhythm mechanic. The player is required to dance to two different internal beats simultaneously, something that I imagine many people will struggle with. The roguelike design is a much more powerful influence on the experience than the rhythm shooting, partly why it doesn’t work as well as I’d hope. Oddly perhaps, there are no permanent advantages to earn. No shortcuts, no new starting weapons, no increased health, no increased base stats. There are stats in BPM by the way. Elements such as range, damage, and movement speed can be increased by offering coins to the randomly placed statues scattered across each dungeon. Coins, with which you can also purchase weapons and items from the two mildly terrifying shopkeepers, are a good example of how BPM struggles with the concept of ordered chaos so integral to the roguelike experience. The one thing you can transfer between runs is coins, via a too randomly generated bank. While each dungeon will feature both shopkeepers, the bank is much rarer. It’s almost never there on the rare occasions my pockets are bursting with gold, and usually not to be seen when I most need to withdraw, either. Similarly, the distribution of weapons and abilities could do with a little more order. There are some fantastic things to buy and find—a minigun, infinite ammo, a poisonous trail to leave in my wake, teleportation—but the best stuff tends to be distributed on an all or nothing basis. Bosses have more dangerous variations that can be generated, too. Fighting two big bads at once with the base pistol isn’t ideal, let me tell you. The dungeons themselves have variations that crop up now and then, and really, these should be lumped in with the Challenges. I don’t mind being surprised with a low gravity dungeon, but suddenly having enemies that take and deal extra damage thrust upon me feels unfair. That’s something I should choose to challenge myself with, not stumble into partway through a run. For all its flaws, there’s much to love in BPM, even though most of it is detached from the central rhythm mechanic. There’s a lot of rock-infused fun to be had—but you’ll have to dig for it. However, there are times when you need Windows to continue running in the background even though the laptop lid is closed. Here is how you can get it done in Windows 10. Keeping the Laptop Working In Windows, click on the notifications tray near the lower-right corner of the screen. At the bottom of the section is a list of options, one of which is “All Settings” and is represented by a gear icon. Tap on this option. A new window will open revealing the Settings page for your Windows 10 program. This is the part of Windows 10 which controls the look and functioning of your laptop’s various programs. Go to the System section of the Settings page. Scroll down the list of options to the left of the screen. Click on the “Power and Sleep” option. To the right of the page, select “Additional Power Settings.” A new screen will open to reveal the control panel with a list of options to the left. Tap on “Choose what closing the lid does.” On the new page you will see the option, “When I close the lid.” By default, this option is set to Sleep, but this can be changed. On the drop-down menu next to it, select “Do nothing.” You can choose this option for your laptop when it is plugged in and charging or when the laptop is operating on battery power alone, depending on your requirements. Both these options are listed side by side on the same page. Once you have adjusted the settings, go to the bottom of the screen and click on “Save Changes.” Now whenever you close the lid of the laptop, it will not go to sleep but will continue to run in the background. If you have decided to let Windows 10 continue running after the laptop lid is closed, you may also want to optimize your laptop battery life in Windows 10 to make sure it doesn’t waste your battery when you are not around. 20. The vehicle scrappage policy has been a long time coming and the announcement of this first level will come as a relief to those in the industry hoping it would help revive demand. As per earlier discussions, the scrappage policy was expected to offer incentives to owners to scrap their old vehicles, however, a policy for personal as well as commercial vehicles is yet to be announced. The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has also approved a proposal to levy a ‘Green Tax’ or pollution tax for older vehicles. The proposal has been sent to states for consultation, after which it can be formally notified. While the Green Tax will help cut down the number of polluting vehicles on the road, a lot of care needs to be taken to ensure the survival of Vintage, Classic, as well as some modern cars, given the importance of automobiles in human history. Under the proposal, transport vehicles older than 8 years will be charged a Green Tax at the time of renewal of fitness certificate, at the rate of 10-25 percent of road tax. However, public transport vehicles, such as city buses, will be charged lower Green Tax. Personal vehicles will also be charged a Green Tax at the time of renewal of the Registration Certification after 15 years, while a significantly higher Green Tax (50 percent of road tax) will be levied on vehicles being registered in highly polluted cities. There will be a differential rate depending on the fuel (petrol/diesel) and the type of vehicle. Greener vehicles like strong hybrids, electric vehicles and alternate-fuel vehicles using CNG, ethanol and LPG will be exempted from the Green Tax, along with agricultural vehicles used in farming such as tractor, harvester, tiller, etc. It is proposed that the revenue generated from the Green Tax will be kept in a separate account and used for tackling pollution and for states to setup state-of-art facilities for emission monitoring.
  21. Rabat – Morocco will establish 21 new universities with merit-based admissions in the coming two years as demand for higher education increases. Idris Aouicha, Delegate Minister in charge of Higher Education and Scientific Research, announced the new plan on Tuesday, January 26. With demand for high-quality higher education increasing throughout Morocco, the government aims to create new university institutions aimed at the most talented young Moroccans. Delegate Minister Aouicha had been asked to increase the number of merit-based institutions by the Independence and Equivalence Team of Morocco’s upper house of parliament. The parliamentary body had requested that Aouicha increase in particular institutions that require additional tests prior to admission, as well as solid high school grades. Morocco is aiming to rapidly boost its capacity to educate gifted students in these merit-based institutions. These “institutions with limited access” currently make up 81 out of a total 147 universities in Morocco and teach 659,128 students out of over one million students currently enrolled in higher education. With a young po[CENSORED]tion, Morocco is seeing increased demand for quality higher education, with a focus on training future engineers, doctors and specialized professionals. Morocco is increasing the number of such universities to meet its educational targets. According to the government, the plan is an important part of the Kingdom’s development priorities, notably its ambitions to boost youth empowerment and reform the education system. Over the past four years, Morocco has opened roughly 40 new universities. In 2020-2021, the government established 11 new “limited access” universities in Agadir, Beni Mellal, Casablanca, Fakih Bensalah, Fez, Al Jadida and Kenitra. While the new institutions are all public, Delegate Minister Aouicha continues to see private universities in Morocco as an essential partner to those run by the government. Aouicha stated that private universities increase the number of options available to Morocco’s students. Private education itself has also been strengthened by the new public institutions, according to Aouicha. The minister expressed confidence that a new class of universities and merit-based institutions will help alleviate the pressure on already existing universities and diversify the available options to Morocco’s talented youth
