As of November 2018, Audi will begin deliveries of the new Audi Q3 of 2018, the second generation of this compact SUV. For the signature of the four rings the new Audi Q3 of 2018 is very important, since the German brand has sold more than one million units of its predecessor, the Audi Q3 first generation that has been on sale between 2011 and 2018 .
This new Audi Q3 of 2018 is a completely new model for many reasons. For starters, it has an innovative design. However, what is new is what you do not see. We talk, among other things, about the structure, the platform that is new. In addition, the factory where it is assembled, which stops doing so in Barcelona, since the Seat plant receives the Audi A1. We analyze all the details below.
New Audi Q3 2018: MQB platform
Starting with the platform, while the previous Q3, on sale between 2011 and 2017, used the Golf V platform, this new model incorporates the MQB modular structure. It is a platform that incorporates the latest models of the German brand and the Volkswagen group and has been used by some SUVs such as the Seat Ateca or the Volkswagen Tiguan, among others.
The inclusion of this new platform has made this Q3 grow in almost all its heights. Thus, for example, now it has a length of 4.48 meters, a width of 1.85 meters and a height of 1.58 meters.
If we take these measurements and compare them with the previous Audi Q3 we see that this new Audi Q3 2018 is, mainly, longer. Specifically, they are about 10 centimeters longer than their predecessor. It is also somewhat wider (about 2 centimeters). The height remains practically intact.
With these dimensions, we can point out that the new Audi Q3 2018 is, above all, very similar in size to the new Volkswagen Tiguan. It is practically identical to the Tiguan at least in length and width. Yes there is more difference in height, since this new Audi Q3 is lower (8 centimeters).
Of the largest in the segment
With these dimensions, the new Audi Q3 of 2019 competes with the compact premium SUV. It is a competitor and rival, therefore, of the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, Volvo XC40 and Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, among other models.
In front of everyone, this new Audi Q3 is the largest model. Here is the ranking of the average SUV ordered according to their size:
• Audi Q3 (4.48 meters)
• Volkswagen Tiguan (4.48 meters)
• BMW X1 (4.43 meters)
• Mercedes-Benz GLA (4.42 meters)
• Volvo XC40 (4.42 meters)
• Land Rover Range Rover Evoque (4.37 meters)
• Cupra Ateca (4.36 meters)
Another interesting question in this new Audi Q3 2018 is that it also gains in wheelbase, the space between the front and rear axles. This greater battle reaches the 2.68 meters. This means that it is 8 centimeters longer than the first generation Q3. And, also, as a curiosity, we are talking about the same
battle that the Volkswagen Tiguan. Hence we can point out that the Audi Q3 and the Volkswagen Tiguan have so many elements in common.
According to Audi, this greater wheelbase means that it has a greater interior space, both for the head and for the legs. Also, the rear bench has now longitudinal adjustment and moves 15 centimeters. In addition, the seats have seven regulation positions and are divided into 40/20/40.
Good boot
This increased wheelbase and longer length has allowed the Audi Q3 to grow in cargo space. In this way, the trunk of the new Audi Q3 has a maximum capacity ranging from 530 liters, to 675 liters, depending on the position of the seats. This means a growth of more than 200 liters compared to the previous generation.
Below we detail the ranking of the category ordered from highest to lowest boot capacity:
• Audi Q3 (675 liters)
• Volkswagen Tiguan (615 meters)
• Land Rover Range Rover Evoque (550 liters)
• BMW X1 (505 liters)
• Volvo XC40 (460 liters)
• Mercedes-Benz GLA (421 liters)

In addition, those units that mount the larger digital instrument panel will also be accompanied by a 10.1-inch digital central display (the less-equipped versions have an 8.8-inch screen).
In relation to the attendants to the driving and technology, this new Audi Q3 2018 can incorporate the notice of involuntary change of lane, the Audi pre sense fornt, the assistant of adaptive speed, the assistant in congested traffic or Audi traffic jam assist, Audi Active lane assist ...
Of all of them it should be noted that the Audi pre sense front, what it does is by means of a radar to detect possible pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles allowing thus to warn the coder through visual and acoustic signals.
Other novelties of this new Audi Q3 compared to the first Q3 that was manufactured in Martorell, in the Seat factory, this new Audi Q3 is now manufactured in the Hungarian plant of Györ. Instead, Martorell will receive the new generation Audi A1. In this way the new Audi Q3 is manufactured in Hungary and in Brazil.
This new Q3, in addition, allows Audi to continue renewed its range of SUVs or SUVs. It is worth remembering, in this sense, that between 2016 and 2017, the German firm has launched the second generation Q5 and the new Q2. And a little earlier, he has also done the same with the Q7. In addition, the news does not stop there since the new Audi Q8 is already on sale and it has also been confirmed that there will be a Q4 in 2019.
