This new generation of software with more productivity in design to improve performance in handling large 10x datasets, includes a multiplatform viewer that allows sharing on any device and can generate detailed drawings of any object in a 3D scene with just one click . Learn the details about the productivity improvements for 2018.
Performance in assemblies
Graphic interaction
New capabilities have been added to improve graphical interaction with large data sets to increase performance at intervals such as a 10x increase. IronCAD provides the ability to add realism to designs using Smart Paint for elements such as reflection, textures, labels, etc. However, these configurations can affect the overall performance when dealing with large data sets. In the background configuration in realistic and dynamic mode, a new option has been added for Simplified Model Surface Display that optimizes IronCAD rendering performance
Interaction of the mechanism
When handling large data sets, new options are available in mechanism mode to improve performance, so you can test the design's range of motion. Controls have been added to limit collision detection to the object being dragged and / or moving objects. This reduces the time to calculate the entire modeling environment for collision.
Improving the performance of creating ICD drawing views
The creation of views based on the "draft" of IronCAD has been improved to reduce the time of creation of the view by 30%. This improvement has an impact on both the creation and updating of views, which can reduce the overall design time of detailed.
Share and collaborate
Shrink Wrap Tool
A new utility has been added to simplify models to share designs securely to the Assembly Ribbon bar. Specify the critical parts / assemblies to save, delete and size settings to hide parts, assemblies and holes, and then click OK. The utility will process the model and generate a simplified ICS file that will be reduced in size and can be shared with collaborators.
Cross-platform web viewer
Share your designs on any device with our new 3D Web Viewer, which supports the visualization and navigation of the tree in any browser compatible with WebGL. Export designs to a local disk or save them to a web server location to share the lightweight graphical model with colleagues and collaborators.
Compatibility with the latest Kernel, Solver and Translator formats

Improved usability
Rapid creation of sketches
New improvements have been made to streamline the user experience. An example is when you create a sketch in an empty scene, with a click the command will create a sketch in the scene ready for you to work instead of entering several location options.
Rapid creation of parts
In addition to the improvement of the sketch creation, features such as Extrude and Spin, you can start with the sketch in the scene without entering the placement options.
Automatic dimension of the piece while it is placed
It is common to place the features once in place on the pieces. To simplify the process, we have automatically added the reference dimensions to the edge of the closest flat side. To enable this option, go to Tools / Options / Interaction and enable the command "Automatically add position dimensions in fall functions".
Commands based on fast Heads-Up selection
Improvements have been made to the structure of the previous "S" key commands so that they are visible full time to give them access to the commands in the design space, reducing the movement of the mouse and the necessary hidden commands. Click on the configuration command at the top of the circle to access additional configurations or customize the commands. When the quick commands appear, simply move outside the circle to make it disappear or press the "S" key on your keyboard to make it disappear or appear.
Numbering of parts for patterned parts
Modeling pieces generally create a list of materials from a single line item with multiple instances. In some cases, you may want to call the parts individually, which is now possible with the new configuration to automatically generate the pattern numbering. This configuration can be found in the TriBall Pattern capabilities.
Specification for the orientation of the front view
To optimize the projection process of the drawing view, users can now select and define the direction of the front view in parts compared to the default determination of IronCAD. This is useful for configuring appropriate view orientations in your drawings without worrying about the orientation of the part in the scene. This configuration can be found in the context menu in a part labeled "Front View Definition".
TriBall Create multiple instances in Centerpoint Support
Using the "Create multiple instances" option with TriBall, there are new options available for "Copy / Link Point / Center Point". During this command, use the standard "Shift key-Click" in arcs / circles to fit the center in several locations in one command.
Parameter table Formula Input Control
In the parameter table, a new control has been added to help input formulas. For example: Adding an "If / else" declaration allows the entry of values so that the control automatically formats the declaration in the expressions.
Quick production drawings
Creation of quick view from 3D scene
A new utility has been added to create drawings / sheets of all the objects in the scene called "Bulk View Creation" to dramatically accelerate the detail process of a design. Select the objects to create a drawing, define to create a new drawing or sheet, select a design template to use and press go. Now all the base drawings are created and simply move directly to detail the drawing!
Support of templates of predefined drawings
Now they can be saved with views, view configurations, and lists of materials based on text and view that can be used in the "Bulk View Creation" tool. Use these templates to quickly po[CENSORED]te a drawing of the selected parts according to the predefined orientations and sales. Make the list of materials associated with a view automatically update. The only thing left to do is create the annotations.
Copy new drawings formats to reuse common drawings
Drawings of standard parts are commonly used in various sets of drawings and packages. Now you can copy entire sheets into other existing drawings to complete your drawing package. Just right click on the labels on the sheet and select "Move / Copy".
Heads-Up quick selection commands for drawing
Quick commands (similar to the "S" key commands in the scene) have been added to optimize the workflow of the drawing. Each click on a view, annotation, sheet, etc., has its own quick commands that streamline the process to find and access the relevant commands to detail.
Amount of automatic drills for annotation
The dimensions can now detect multiple instances of holes when they are selected during the dimension command and can automatically count the number of holes. This reduces additional steps in manual information typing or out-of-sync drawings when updates change the amount. This configuration can be enabled in the Properties of the sheet and can be customized for the visualization of the text.
Improvement of the location and interaction of the dimensions
Many improvements have been made to the Smart Dimension tool to improve the dimensioning process. Shortcut keys have been added to make quick adjustments to the dimensions and access the annotation properties page while still remaining in the dimensioning tool. This eliminates the need to exit the dimension command and re-enter the command to change the dimension settings. Examples of quick keys include:
• The "U" key to toggle the locking and unlocking of the location of the smart dimension text
• "Ctrl-R" to reverse the direction of the knee
• "Ctrl-F" to flip the direction of the inner / outer arrow.
Other quick keys can also be customized for Precision and Text placement. To access the property page, simply right click on the dimension while in the dimension command.
Alternative view positions through configurations
Shows the complete range of motion of the mechanisms in the drawing using the new alternative view position tool. Create settings in the scene from different locations of the mechanism. With the tool, select the base configuration and add different configurations to define the overlays. Set different types of lines and colors for your alternative views and place measurements between views to communicate the necessary information.
Move view by clicking and dragged in view
Simply place the views by clicking and dragging within the edge of the view. This speeds up the flow and understanding when working on the drawing.
Export selected views to DWG / DXF support
Select a view or several views to export them directly to DWG / DXF for manufacturing, eliminating the edge of the drawing and other details.
Filtering screen
New options have been added to filter scene data for drawing projections (that is, excluding objects). For example: filter the drawing so as not to project fasteners, hiding all fasteners in the projected view. This configuration can be located under "Select part / assembly to project" in the Create Standard View dialog box.
DRAFT Environmental improvements
3D interface bar improvements
In the 3D interface bar, dimension commands have been added to reduce the time of toggling between menus during the detailing process.
Detail view support in broken views (broken)
The detail view creation now supports broken views within the DRAFT environment to improve detailing capabilities.
Adjusting the detail view label
New controls have been added to allow the label position of the detail view to be adjusted. Simply click on the detailed view circle and pull the handle of the label to adjust its position.
Alternation of section view address
A new option has been added to allow the reversal of the section address after the section view has been created. Right click on the section line and select "Change address".
Visible welding
A new tool has been added to create a weld bead along a curve, including V-welds and angled welds.
Materials for shading patterns
By using the IronCAD Materials, you can define the corresponding hatch patterns that can be applied automatically in the sectioning commands. Using a customizable XML file, you can define custom hatch patterns for materials in the IronCAD scene environment.
