In the summer, Microsoft confirmed it would kill off defunct web browsers Internet Explorer and Edge Legacy, as plans for a phased termination are brought to a close. However, a sizable pool of users have remained loyal to Internet Explorer, forcing Microsoft to take additional steps to incentivize switching to the new Chromium-based Edge. Now, when an Internet Explorer user visits an incompatible site - of which there are currently more than 1,000 - the page will be launched automatically in Microsoft Edge, along with a message that reads: “This website doesn’t work in Internet Explorer”. Check out our list of the best Windows 10 VPN services around We've built a list of the best proxy services on the market Here's our choice of the best VPN services on the market Internet Explorer end-of-life Internet Explorer has long been the butt of jokes in the technology community, ridiculed for its speed issues and clunky user interface. The web browser’s reputational decline is writ large in its market share, which currently sits at a mere 1.19% according to StatCounter data (down from circa 95% at its peak). The move to retire the browser, which first hit the scene in 1995, can be seen as an admission of its growing irrelevance to modern users. “Customers have been using IE 11 since 2013 when the online environment was much less sophisticated than the landscape today. Since then, open web standards and newer browsers - like the new Microsoft Edge - have enabled better, more innovative online experiences,” said Microsoft. “We believe that Microsoft 365 subscribers, in both consumer and commercial contexts, will be well served with this change through faster and more responsible web access.” However, despite the fact Microsoft is sunsetting Internet Explorer in favor of a new flagship browser, tens of millions of people continue to use the outdated service - and this has pushed the firm to take further action. Not only will certain webpages now redirect automatically to Edge, but Microsoft will also continue to withdraw support for Internet Explorer from its product suite. As of November 13, users will no longer be able to log into their Microsoft accounts via Internet Explorer, Microsoft Teams will drop support at the end of the same month and, by August 17 2021, no Microsoft 365 app will be compatible with the browser. After these deadlines have passed, users of the unsupported web browser will suffer a “degraded experience”; new Microsoft 365 features will be unavailable to stragglers and existing web apps will be disabled.

Last week, we saw AMD's Ryzen 5 5600X claim the top spot within the Passmark single-threaded performance chart but that feat has now been surpassed by the big daddy of the Ryzen 5000 CPU lineup, the Ryzen 9 5950X. AMD Ryzen 9 5950X Is Now The Fastest Single-Threaded CPU In Passmark, Surpasses & Obliterates All AMD / Intel Chips When we talked about the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X last week, we did mention that it would easily be surpassed by its bigger Ryzen 9 and Ryzen 7 siblings when they get tested within the same single-threaded performance test. That turned out to be true as AMD's fastest and most powerful Zen 3 CPU, the Ryzen 9 5950X has now been listed in the performance chart (via Videocardz) with an astonishingly huge performance number than obliterates all previous generation AMD and Intel CPUs (Ryzen 3000 & Intel 10th Gen). Custom ASUS ROG STRIX Radeon RX 6800 XT “AMD Big Navi GPU” Reportedly Boosts Beyond 2.5 GHz With 290W TGP AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16 Core Zen 3 Desktop CPU In Passmark Single-Thread The AMD Ryzen 9 5950X scored an impressive 3,693 points in the Passmark Single-Threaded test which made it easily top the charts. The score is 7% higher than the Ryzen 5 5600X and compared to its predecessor, the Ryzen 9 3950X, the 5950X is an insane 35% faster. Even versus the Intel Core i9-10900K which is apparently the only competition it has from the other side, the Ryzen 9 5950X scores a 16% lead which is mighty impressive. Sure the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X has a higher price of $799 US but even then, the Core i9-10900K is pretty short in supply and hence the stock that is available is priced way about the MSRP of $549 US, and the chip can be found on various retail outlets for over $800-$900 US. It is just mind-blowing to see AMD now in command of the single-core performance benchmarks, beating Intel by huge double digits jump with ease. This goes off to show just how powerful AMD's Zen 3 core architecture is and we can't wait to see it in action on the 5th of November. AMD’s Zen 3 Powered Ryzen 5 5600X $299 CPU Is Now The Fastest Single-Threaded Chip In Passmark AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16 Core Zen 3 Desktop CPU In Passmark Multi-Thread Moving to the Multi-threaded numbers, the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X with its 16 cores and threads has an impressive score of 45,564 points which is a 16% boost over its predecessor, the Ryzen 9 3950X. At the same time, the chip is around 10,000 and 20,000 points lower than the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X and Ryzen Threadripper 3970X. This is expected since the Zen 2 based Threadrippers come with more cores and threads but we can expect Zen 3 based Threadrippers to easily topple their Threadripper, 3000 predecessors, with even higher performance output. We can also expect the Zen 3 based Threadrippers to be the first HEDT CPUs to surpass the 100,000 points mark in the multi-thread performance tests. AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16 Core Zen 3 Desktop CPU in Geekbench 5 at 5.04 GHz The latest entry of AMD's Ryzen 9 5950X "Zen 3" Desktop CPU was also spotted in Geekbench 5 by TUM_APISAK. This time, the chip was spotted running at 5.04 GHz average clocks with the fastest cores clocking in up to 5038 MHz. The fully valid entry shows the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X scores 1700 points which are simply insane for the Zen 3 based CPU. The chip was running on an ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Formula motherboard with DDR4-3600 memory. We have now seen multiple entries of the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X in Geekbench 5 scoring an average single-core score of around 1640 points and an average multi-core score of around 150,000 points. You can see the full listings below: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X "Zen 3" Desktop CPU - 16 Cores / 32 Threads Up To 4.9 GHz For $799 US Starting off with the top of the line parts, AMD is announcing the Ryzen 9 series which is made up of the Ryzen 9 5950X. The Ryzen 9 5950X is the flagship 16 core part which is aimed at users demanding heavy multi-threading performance on AM4 sockets. The chip has a total cache of 72 MB and a TDP of 105W. The chip features a boost clock of up to 4.9 GHz boost which when put together is just stunning for a 16 core part. The AMD Ryzen 9 5950X is going to cost $799 US and will be available on the 5th of November like the rest of the lineup. AMD Ryzen 5000 Series "Vermeer" CPU Lineup CPU Name Cores/Threads Base Clock Boost Clock Cache (L2+L3) PCIe Lanes (Gen 4 CPU+PCH) TDP Price AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16/32 3.4 GHz 4.9 GHz 72 MB TBA 105W $799 US AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12/24 3.7 GHz 4.8 GHz 70 MB TBA 105W $549 US AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8/16 3.8 GHz 4.7 GHz 36 MB TBA 105W $449 US AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6/12 3.7 GHz 4.6 GHz 35 MB TBA 65W $299 US AMD Ryzen 5 5600 6/12 TBA TBA 32 MB TBA 65W $219 US? The AMD Ryzen 5000 Desktop CPUs, codenamed Vermeer, will be launching on the 5th of November. The launch lineup will include the 16 core Ryzen 9 5950X, the 12 core Ryzen 9 5900X, the 8 core Ryzen 7 5800X, and the 6 core Ryzen 5 5600X. You can learn more about these SKUs here. All 500 series motherboards (X570/B550) will be receiving BIOS updates to support the next-gen lineup so if you're planning to get a Ryzen 5000 CPU at launch, you better head over to this link and grab one that's supported for your motherboard (do note that 400-series support comes later around January 2021).

In trailers for the game, Ubisoft has advertised that you can recruit practically anyone in Watch Dogs Legion. Of course, that doesn't mean you should. In the video above, we walk through some of our favorite recruits. These men and women are the best of the best (in our humble opinion, anyway), and we encourage you to keep an eye out for them when you jump into Watch Dogs Legion. When Ubisoft says that you can recruit almost anyone in Watch Dogs Legion, the developer means it. Our list of favorite recruits includes a shit-kicking granny (yes, it's that one--you've all seen her), a 70-year dominatrix with a powerful spiked bat, a gold-colored performance artist, and a sex worker with a mean spending habit. Each brings their own unique skill set to the table, whether that's silently taking out enemies, antagonizing guards, hacking computers, sabotaging equipment, beating baddies to a pulp, or pulling off perfect shots in the middle of a firefight. Humans are inherently flawed though. So recruits can have notable weaknesses too--some are just for laughs but others can pose genuine problems that you'll have to consider before putting them into the field. Watch Dogs Legion launches for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on October 29. Want to play the game on next-gen? You'll have to wait a bit longer--Legion releases for Xbox Series X|S on November 10 and PS5 on November 12.

Microsoft began rolling out the Windows 10 October 2020 update (version 20H2) this week and has already released a new build in beta that fixes several bugs and adds more new features. Windows 10 version 20H2 Build 19042.608 is available for those in the Windows Insider program in the Release Preview Channel, and the Beta Channel, according to a Thursday blog post from Microsoft. Read more: How to download Windows 10 for free The biggest new feature in the beta build is the addition of Meet Now to the taskbar in the coming weeks. That means you'll be able to set up or answer a video-call just by clicking the Meet Now icon in the taskbar notification area -- no sign up or download needed. As many people are still spending more time working and socializing from home during the coronavirus pandemic, the move makes it easier to connect -- and perhaps to compete with other video chat services like Zoom and Google Meet. The update also fixes more than 25 bugs in the operating system, including an issue using Group Policy Preferences to configure the home page in Internet Explorer, and an issue with untrusted URL navigations from Internet Explorer 11 (which will now open in Microsoft Defender Application Guard using Microsoft Edge). Microsoft also issued a fix for a problem that displayed nothing on the screen for five minutes or more during a Remote Desktop Protocol session, and one that prevented some Windows Virtual Desktop users from searching for files with File Explorer. For more, you can check out how to download the Windows 10 October 2020 update, and how to use some of the best new Windows 10 features. We also have a roundup of the best Windows 10 tips and tricks, and six simple security changes all Windows 10 users need to make.

Reports coming in from Asian Pacific retailers suggest that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 will have a considerably larger supply than the GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090 at launch. The report comes from PC Watch who has received word from various retailers in the Akihabara tech market-based in Tokyo, Japan. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Graphics Card To Launch With Considerably Larger Supply Than The RTX 3080 & RTX 3090 Dospara, one of the main retail outlets at Akihabara, has announced that it will initiate sales for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics cards at around 20:00 (JST) when the first tickets will be handed out. The store expects payments to initiate by 21:00 (JST) following product delivery by 22:00 which should last just 10 minutes. The graphics card will be sold on a first-come & first serve basis which is similar to lots of North American stores and how they process orders for new launches. Chinese JD Retail Outlet Only Able To Sell Less Than 1000 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Units in October, Fake Sales Figures Reported According to PC Watch, they didn't just visit Dospara but also talked to several other retailers based in the Akihabara market. All of them have guaranteed that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 will have a considerably larger stock than the GeForce RTX 3090 and GeForce RTX 3080. It remains to be seen if they are referring to the launch stock or the overall stock since the launch stock could've gotten a bit better due to the delayed launch from 15th October to 29th October but if the launch stock runs out quick, will there be enough of a supply coming through the backchannel to meet demand even after the launch. This report is also based on just words from Asian Pacific retailers. We don't know what the stock & supply would look like in other market regions, especially North America. Danish retailer ProShop has released its own demand versus supply statistics for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 and their total numbers don't look that great. NVIDIA and its partners are only able to meet 7.4% of the demand for the upcoming card so it remains to be seen how things are going to unfold on 29th October. The GeForce RTX 3070 is definitely positioned in a very interesting spot. The reviews for the card arrive a day before AMD's Radeon RX 6000 series unveiling and the card launches in the retail PC segment a day after the unveiling. Many consumers will definitely wait to see what AMD has been cooking with its RDNA 2 GPU architecture for the gaming segment but from what we know, even at this close to launch, the RTX 3070 demand is at an unprecedented scale simply based on the fact that it offers 2080 Ti equivalent performance at $499 US. It remains to be seen if AMD can top the card in terms of performance/$ on 28th October. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Graphics Card Specifications - GA104 GPU & 8 GB GDDR6 Memory At the heart of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card lies the GA104 GPU. The GA104 is one of the many Ampere GPUs that we will be getting on the gaming segment. The GA104 GPU is the second-fastest Ampere chip in the stack. The GPU is based on Samsung's 8nm (N8) process node. The GPU measures at 392.5mm2 and features 17.4 Billion transistors which are almost 93% of the transistors featured on the TU102 GPU. At the same time, the GA104 GPU is almost half the size of the TU102 GPU which is an insane amount of density. NVIDIA Preps New GeForce RTX 30 “GA102” Series SKU To Tackle AMD Radeon RX 6800 Series – To Feature 7424 Cores & 320-Bit Bus For the GeForce RTX 3070, NVIDIA has enabled a total of 46 SM units on its flagship which results in a total of 5888 CUDA cores. In addition to the CUDA cores, NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3070 also comes packed with next-generation RT (Ray-Tracing) cores, Tensor cores, and brand new SM or streaming multi-processor units. In terms of memory, the RTX 3070 features 8 GB of GDDR6 memory. The GeForce RTX 3070 comes with memory at speeds of 14 Gbps. That along with a full uncut bus interface of 256-bit will deliver a cumulative bandwidth of 448 Gbps. You would get lower temperatures, a lower power consumption rating, and an upgrade to a faster graphics card for a much lower price point. (This isn't our final conclusion or recommendation for the RTX 3070 graphics card).

The pandemic has seen demand for video conferencing software skyrocket as businesses use the technology to work from home and students use it for distance learning. However, more established services in the field such as Skype failed to capitalize on the recent boom as Zoom and other new players in the space took over the market. While Microsoft's enterprise communication platform Microsoft Teams has now managed to attract more business users due to its integrations with the company's other products and its robust security features, Skype has fallen by the wayside. We've put together a list of the best online collaboration tools These are the best business webcams for working from home We've also highlighted the best cloud storage services Back in April, the software giant tried to give the service a boost with a new feature called Meet Now that allows users to join Skype meetings with just a link in a similar way to how Zoom works. With Meet Now, users no longer to need to install software or sign up for an account, thus making it easier to connect with family, friends and coworkers using the service. Meet Now in the taskbar In a blog post announcing new features in the Windows 10 Insider preview build 19042.608 (20H2), Microsoft revealed its plans to extend Skype's Meet Now feature to Windows 10's taskbar, saying: “In the coming weeks, you will be able to easily set up a video call and reach friends and family in an instant by clicking the Meet Now icon in the taskbar notification area. No sign ups or downloads needed.” Adding this new capability to Skype's Meet Now makes a great deal of sense as users previously had to have set up a video call using the feature by creating a link in their browser or from the Skype client itself by clicking the Meet Now Button in the left-hand sidebar. Soon Windows 10 users will be able to set up a video call right from their taskbar which should save time and be easier to do, which could end up leading more people to use Skype Meet Now as opposed to another competing video conferencing service.

With October almost over, numbers have started pouring out of the biggest Chinese retail outlet, JD.com, which shows us just how bad the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 stock situation is even in the APAC market region with retailers faking up sales numbers and even buyer submitted reviews on the site. NVIDIA's Partners Sold Less Than 1000 GeForce RTX 3080 Graphics Cards At China's Biggest Retail Outlet So Far In October The numbers which were compiled by a Baidu forum member show that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 supply is scarce even in the Chinese market. Not only that, but the numbers show that fake reviews are being put in place to suggest that there's no supply issue while the actual number of buyer reviews is far smaller than the ones being reported. NVIDIA Preps New GeForce RTX 30 “GA102” Series SKU To Tackle AMD Radeon RX 6800 Series – To Feature 7424 Cores & 320-Bit Bus It is reported that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 AIB graphics cards have hit 114,410 units sold while in reality, JD only managed to fulfill 743 orders which are just 0.65% of the total reviews & sales reported by the retailer. To submit a buyer review, JD.com requires you to show an actual invoice of the product purchased, a picture or video of the product, and a comment regarding the product. But it looks like either JD.com or AIBs are now virtually inflating the sales numbers and product reviews to show that the card is out of stock due to heavy demand when that's certainly not the case here. Colorful was the only manufacturer that managed to show 35.71% factual reviews for its 250 cards while the rest of NVIDIA's AIBs such as Gigabyte and GALAX, ASUS, and Gigabyte shipped 130, 50, and 150 units in total, respectively. The latter 3 AIBs had listed 900, 400, and 3900 units sold against fake reviews while in reality, they were much less. MSI lists down the most number of graphics cards sold at a massive 57,000 units but in reality, they were only able to sell 80 units which are 0.14% of the total figure. Even ZOTAC lists down 35,000 units sold against just 10 actual sales units. Take the AORUS GeForce RTX 3080 MASTER for example which is currently out of stock and as per JD.com, it has received 3900+ reviews but scrolling down the buyer reviews shows only 10 actual reviews and the rest of the 3890 reviews are non-existent. This just goes off to shows us how bad the NVIDIA RTX 3080 launch has turned out to be with retailers and AIBs faking sales numbers to hide behind false claims to massive demand when in reality, its more so to do with lack of supply of the cards themselves Quad NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Graphics Cards Tested In A Single System, Insane Performance With Up To 1700W Power Consumption This definitely looks like a paper launch with NVIDIA's CEO himself confirming that the supply for its Ampere-based GeForce RTX 30 graphics cards will get better by early 2021 so this means that majority of the users will have to wait much longer to get their new graphics card, unlike at the launch dates which NVIDIA had promised. The same is turning out to be true for NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card for which big retail outlets are only able to meet less than 10% of the demand. The supply for the GeForce RTX 3090 is slightly better because its more of a niche and halo offering and doesn't have the same level of GPU demand as the RTX 3080 but since RTX 3070 is targetting a $499 US price point, we expect a repeat similar to the RTX 3080 stock issues. A majority of users are now even considering switching to AMD's Radeon RX 6000 series which looks really good in terms of performance compared to the RTX 30 series offerings. If AMD can manage a decent stock at launch and price their cards right, then there's a huge possibility that users will be more inclined to buy the RX 6000 cards. Now that would obviously take the pressure off of NVIDIA's RTX 30 series stock but may also result in the red team gaining significant market share in the DIY market.

Several well-known and po[CENSORED]r web browsers contain a vulnerability that makes them susceptible to phishing attacks. The bug allows threat actors to display a different address to the one that the victim is actually visiting. The bugs were discovered by security researcher Rafay Baloch, who found vulnerabilities affecting Opera, Safari, Yandex and numerous others, largely affecting mobile devices. The security flaw is not as effective on desktop devices, where individuals can more easily view other indicators regarding a website’s legitimacy. On mobile screens, checking the address bar is the primary method of discerning whether a webpage is real or not. The bug works by replacing the malicious web address with a reputable one of the attacker’s choosing in the time it takes for the webpage to load. In some of the examples given by Baloch, the security padlock was even displayed by the fake web address, further supporting its authenticity. The best antivirus rescue disks available today The best secure router for your business The best security keys for top online protection Still at risk “It is pertinent to mention here that several mobile browsers with huge userbases do not even have a dedicated email for reporting security vulnerabilities, which discourages security researchers from reporting security vulnerabilities,” Baloch wrote on his blog. “Google Chrome and Firefox have a bug bounty program in which both desktop and mobile browsers are in-scope, whereas Microsoft’s bug bounty program is only limited to desktop versions. Apart from this, there is a small subset of mobile browsers incentivizing security researchers and bug bounty hunters for reporting vulnerabilities.” The browser bar vulnerability emphasizes the need for online users to remain vigilant against phishing attacks. Always question whether a link is genuine or not before clicking to avoid being taken to a malicious website and then double-check to see if anything looks suspicious once the page has loaded.

Puget Systems has released a new set of benchmarks in which they tested four NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards together in a single workstation system. The test was used to showcase the performance potential of the RTX 3090 cards and how well they scale in professional apps for content creation. Quad NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Cards Benchmarked Together, 1700W Power Consumption & Linear Performance Scaling The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 is without a doubt the fastest graphics card on the planet but it does not offer a great performance per dollar proposition. The card with its 24 GB GDDR6X memory and insane specifications seem to be underutilized by games as evident from our report but there are workloads that can take full advantage of this beast of a card. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 8 GB Graphics Card Benchmarks Leak Out, An RTX 2080 Ti Replacement For $499 US Puget Systems (via Videocardz) have released benchmarks of four GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards running within a test rig which features an ASUS WS C422 SAGE motherboard that is equipped with the Intel Xeon W2255 CPU, 128 GB of DDR4-3200 memory, and a pair of EVGA 1600W power supplies since there are four Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3090 Turbo edition graphics cards to boot along with the entire PC. The performance was measured within OctaneBench, V-Ray Next, Red Shift, and Puget Systems's own PugetBench for DaVinci Resolve. The four GPUs didn't have NVLINK enabled across them and were only communicating via the PCIe bus interface. The explicit multi-GPU nature allowed by professional applications lets users take full advantage of the four GPUs without any additional driver support. In terms of performance in the said applications, you can note below that all benchmarks report near-perfect scaling for all four GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards. The performance to begin with for a single-card is also notably higher than any previously released solution but having more than just 1 RTX 3090 graphics card can definitely help improve performance by a huge factor for users such as content creators who heavily rely on these applications. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 20 GB & GeForce RTX 3070 16 GB Graphics Cards Cancelled, Alleges Rumor Puget Systems also provided us power consumption figures when four NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards are fitted within a workstation PC. The system consumes up to 1717 Watts power but that can be improved by using a Dual PSU setup which increases efficiency and reduces power consumption by around 50-75W. The GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards were also adjusted to 300W power limits with no notable performance dips but helped reduce power numbers even further down to 1600W which is a 100W+ drop from the standard configuration. Surprisingly, the cards didn't hit temperatures past 80C but at the same time, the blower design meant that they were running quite loud. All fans were running at around 80-90% fan speed in 4-way configuration and resulted in a huge noise output which is demonstrated in the video below: Once again, this use case will be suitable for content creation and workstation users who can take full advantage of the four GeForce RTX 3090 graphics ards within these applications. For gamers, even NVIDIA themselves have the GeForce RTX 3090 locked down to just 2-Way NVLINK support. Not to mention that just two RTX 3090s would cost $3000 US.
