Three people have been killed in a knife attack in the French city of Nice, police say. Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi said there had been a "terrorist attack at the heart of the Notre-Dame basilica". One elderly victim who had come to pray was "virtually beheaded". The suspect was detained shortly after the attack. Mr Estrosi spoke of "Islamo-fascism" and that the suspect had "repeated endlessly 'Allahu Akbar' (God is greatest)." France's national anti-terror prosecutors have opened a murder inquiry. What is known about the attack? Two of those who died were attacked inside the church, the elderly woman and a man who was found with his throat cut, reports said. A woman who had managed to flee to a nearby cafe was stabbed several times and died later. In a separate development, a guard has been attacked at the French consulate in the Saudi city of Jeddah. The consulate said the attacker had been arrested and the guard had been taken to hospital. Messi failed to force a move and decided to stay, but said he felt deceived by Bartomeu, adding: "There has been no project or anything for a long time". Analysis Spanish football expert Guillem Balague Bartomeu did not want to be the first president to be kicked out by a vote of no confidence. Campaigners needed 66% of votes to get rid of him and estimations were 80% of the vote was against him. Barcelona won four leagues, four cups and the Treble in 2014-15 while he was president, but another way of looking at his tenure is what he did with the money from the Neymar sale. Hundreds of protesters marched through the US city of Philadelphia for a second night, demanding racial justice after police fatally shot a black man. The family of Walter Wallace, 27, say he was suffering a mental health crisis when officers opened fire on him. Police say they shot him because he would not drop a knife he was holding. Police reinforcements as well as the National Guard have been deployed. Authorities say 30 officers were hurt during the first night of clashes. The city's police have also accused protesters of looting and ransacking businesses during the unrest, which started on Monday. Mr Wallace had bipolar disorder, and his wife told officers this before they shot him, a lawyer representing his family said. Philadelphia also saw large protests earlier this year over police brutality and racism following the death of George Floyd in Minnesota. What's the situation in Philadelphia? On Tuesday night, the marches began peacefully but became more confrontational as the evening drew on. Officers in riot gear arrived in squad cars, on bicycles and on buses, and used their bikes to shove protesters back from barricade lines. On Monday, more than 300 people took to the streets to protest, and 91 were arrested. One officer was in hospital with a broken leg and other injuries after being struck by a pickup truck. Speaking at a campaign rally in Wisconsin on Tuesday, President Donald Trump attempted to tie the protesters to his democratic rival, former Vice-President Joe Biden, without providing evidence of a link. "Last night [Monday] Philadelphia was torn up by Biden-supporting radicals," he said. "Thirty police officers, Philadelphia police officers, they were injured, some badly. Biden stands with the rioters, and I stand with the heroes of law enforcement." In a joint statement, Mr Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris, said: "We cannot accept that in this country a mental health crisis ends in death. "It makes the shock and grief and violence of yesterday's shooting that much more painful, especially for a community that has already endured so much trauma," they added, while condemning Monday's looting, calling it a crime. Philadelphia is the largest city in Pennsylvania, a state critical to next week's presidential election. What have city officials been saying? Mayor Jim Kenney, a Democrat, said the video of Monday's fatal police shooting presented "difficult questions that must be answered". The mayor said he was looking forward "to a speedy and transparent resolution for the sake of Mr Wallace, his family, the officers, and for Philadelphia". Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said she had visited the scene and felt the "anger of the community". Nothing on this scale happened after other attacks on President Macron's watch, despite the violent murder of some 20 people during his tenure, among them police officers, a young woman at a train station and shoppers in a Christmas market. Now one shocking murder and France's response to it have triggered fresh rows - both within France and outside - over the boundaries between religion and politics, and how they are used by those in power.
