Rabat - Payment-processing company Mastercard has revealed the winners of its second edition of the Women SME (small and medium enterprise) Leaders Award through an online ceremony, recognizing the achievements of women-led firms in 22 sectors across several industries throughout Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EEMEA). Moroccan entrepreneur and Managing Director of Ecofertil Mona Alami Merrouni was among the winners, shining in “The Leaders in Agriculture” category. Established in 1992, Ecofertil is specialized in composting organic materials. Alami took to Linkedin to express her happiness about the recognition when she was shortlisted, saying that she is “grateful to be recognized as an achieving woman who has made significant contributions in the field of agritech.” “Thanks again for these kicks that help us keep the motivation high to continue making an impact one step at a time,” Alami added. Nearly seven years after the release of the last installment in the franchise, CAPCOM's Dead Rising returns in the news thanks to a rumor spread by Windows Central's Jez Corden. Shortly after sharing his information regarding Sony's exclusive deals with Konami for MGS 3 Remake, Silent Hill, and maybe Castlevania, Corden tweeted he heard a rumor about a possible Dead Rising reboot being under evaluation at CAPCOM. Later, he added that it wasn't anything concrete yet, but it was enough to get fans interested in the mere possibility. Dead Rising was originally released as an Xbox 360 exclusive in 2006. It was a critical and commercial success for CAPCOM, thanks to its many unique features. For instance, it showcased the potential of the new console with hundreds of zombies available on screen; it allowed players to grab almost anything they could find in the Willamette Parkview Mall to throw at the zombie hordes; and it featured an intriguing timer mechanics that forced players to make decisions on which events they wanted to participate in over the course of the three days. Dead Rising players could also choose whether to rescue other survivors and, based on various factors, they would get a different ending. Even protagonist Frank West, a photo reporter stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time, quickly became a favorite among gamers, who also loved the many nods to the history of zombie fiction, starting with John Romero's cult movies. The sequel was handed over to Blue Castle Games, later known as CAPCOM Vancouver, who would also develop Dead Rising 3 and 4. The second and third installments featured new protagonists, while Frank West returned for Dead Rising 4. However, the sequels veered away from the original game's horror vibe, betting everything on the corniness and weirdness of the weapons at the player's disposal. CAPCOM Vancouver was working on a fifth mainline entry before trouble began in early 2018 with over 50 cut jobs. A few months later, CAPCOM announced the studio's closure and the cancellation of its projects, which cost the Japanese publisher around $40 million. Later, we learned that the Vancouver studio was also planning to make a new Dino Crisis game in addition to Dead Rising 5. CAPCOM has been on an amazing streak, that's for sure. Other than this, since the solid-state buttons are capacitive, users can simply control volume by sliding or swiping their fingers up or down. The past few years have been pretty rough for PC gaming, with most big releases suffering from a variety of issues at launch, such as Hogwarts Legacy, The Last of Us Part I, and, more recently, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Arkane Austin's latest game, Redfall, is sadly not much different from these games, as its PC port is yet another poor one, according to Digital Foundry. In their tech review released earlier today, Digital Foundry highlighted how the PC version of the game, while featuring all three upscalers - AMD FSR, NVIDIA DLSS, and Intel XeSS - definitely feels light in terms of features and options, as few are the graphics options that can be tweaked. These options control multiple features at once, and with bad description and no preview screens showcasing how changing the options affect the game's visual quality, they are far from being the best we have seen in recent times. The bad selection of graphics options in the PC port of Redfall isn't the only thing that makes this version of the game poor. Both DLSS and XeSS have noticeable visual glitches, and visuals are generally not that good, with low shadow quality even at max settings. Despite the somewhat undemanding visuals, the game runs poorly on most systems due to its inability to fully utilize the CPU and GPU. With traversal stutters being prevalent as well, it looks like there's currently no way to enjoy Redfall to the fullest for those who don't own a top-of-the-line system. Even if the game ran better on PC and consoles, Redfall would have been far from being one of the best games ever released by Arkane Austin. As Alessio highlighted in his review-in-progress, the game is a decent enough experiment that is not entirely successful. Arkane Austin's game director Harvey Smith said Redfall was one of the studio's many experiments stretching the immersive simulation towards various genres. From my preliminary analysis, it's not a failed experiment by any means, but it's also not entirely successful and likely to be left behind for better fits. Redfall is now available on PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. The iPhone 14 Pro models launched with a boatload of forward-facing hardware changes, including the new Dynamic Island. Even though Dynamic Island is hiding the Face ID and the front-facing camera, Apple tweaked the software to take advantage of the space available. A designer Imagines a dynamic macOS dock that expands to reveal more information A designer showcased a demo on Twitter highlighting how the macOS dock could benefit from being more dynamic and fluid. On first look, the dock looks exactly like a standard dock with apps neatly stacked against each other in the middle of the screen. It is upon interaction the apps come to life in a more dynamic way. The user hovers the mouse pointer on an app, and it dynamically expands to create space and reveal more information related to that app. The user experimented with various apps like messages, live music, and more. When the mouse pointer hovers over the Messages app, it reveals your unread messages. You can see the red badge on top of the contacts, suggesting that these are unread or the latest messages. When the mouse is dragged on top of the contact, it shows a little preview bubble. You can check out the tweet below for more details. The Apple Music app also behaves the same way as it expands to show what is being played and the basic controls like play, pause, next, and previous song. The Safari app in the macOS dock also reveals the download progress when the pointer is dragged on top of the app. To be fair, the demo has been made to work fluidly and shows how Apple can enhance the macOS dock by offering some tweaks. You can see in the short video that when an app dynamically expands, the entire dock enlarges. Take note that this is not the final product, and there is no word if Apple is indeed looking to implement something similar. Nonetheless, it makes sense for the company to do so to streamline the entire ecosystem. Since the latest MacBooks offer a notch on the top, Apple can easily bring something similar to the table as well. Intel's Meteor Lake GPU will drop the need for a discrete graphics chip on entry-level laptops as it will deliver great performance with higher battery times. Intel Meteor Lake GPU May Offer Up To RTX 3050 Performance At Just 45W, Thin & Light Laptops With Higher Battery Times As a part of his latest video, Moore's Law is Dead also shared an alleged AMD Internal presentation for Q4 2022 which compared the graphics performance of its upcoming integrated graphics with a range of NVIDIA discrete solutions. The slides also show the projection of Intel's Meteor Lake iGPU and put it behind the Phoenix 45W solution though that has changed and the Meteor Lake Xe-LPG GPU is now projected to deliver much better performance. The slide shows the AMD Radeon 780M GPU featured on Phoenix APUs with 12 RDNA 3 Compute Units at 45W sitting ahead of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (50W). The Strix Point APUs have also been shown here which offer faster than NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 (35W) performance with RDNA 3+ GPUs configured with 16 Compute Units at 45W. Initially, the Intel Meteor Lake GPU which features the Xe-LPG Alchemist architecture, the same as the Arc GPUs, was said to end up behind the Phoenix RDNA 3 APU however it looks like the Meteor Lake chip is much more powerful and can deliver performance anywhere between the NVIDIA GTX 1650 Ti and the RTX 3050 at 45W. The Intel Meteor Lake Xe-LPG GPU will feature a new tiled design and incorporate up to 128 Execution Units. The GPU tile will be fabricated on the TSMC 5nm node and early leaks have shown it to be clocking up to 2.1 GHz and delivering over 4 TFLOPs of compute horsepower. These GPUs will have two configurations, a 64 EU (MTL GT2) and 128 EU (MTL GT3) design. These will also enable enhanced support for DirectX 12 Ultimate & XeSS, features that are only supported by the Alchemist lineup as of right now. Intel will also be using its brand new Adamantine L4 cache starting with Meteor Lake GPUs which will definitely give a nice boost to the GPUs. Overall, having an integrated GPU of this level would mean that laptop manufacturers can enable cheaper designs with far better battery times compared to those with discrete GPUs. Now we can't say how well these GPUs will perform in gaming benchmarks since the performance here is only measured within 3DMark Fire Strike and synthetics aren't the best way to showcase a true gaming scenario. AMD's RDNA 3 GPUs are offering some great numbers in several AAA titles and they have yet to receive proper driver support so expect more information from Intel about the true capabilities of its Xe-LPG GPUs soon. Independent German developer Keen Games (Sacred 3, Portal Knights) revealed a new game called Enshrouded today. It is a survival action RPG playable by up to sixteen players at once, and it should land later this year in early access on PC. I was invited to a remote presentation for the press hosted by Creative Director Antony Christoulakis, who explained that the elevator pitch for Enshrouded is Zelda: Breath of the Wild meets Valheim. The core gameplay loop includes all the main tenets of these games, such as exploring, surviving, fighting, looting, gathering, crafting, and building. The twist is that the fully handcrafted open world of Embervale is largely split into two parts: above the fog and below it. The mysterious pestilence called Shroud that plagued the land sprouted from the deepest recess of the earth, infecting and mutating everything affected by the myst. Needless to say, venturing below the fog (which was likened to diving, as players will have to reemerge after a certain amount of time) means encountering dangerous creatures but also gathering important loot and resources that can then be used in the world above to upgrade your gear and build houses. Players also have the opportunity to rescue artisan NPCs and bring them home, where their crafting expertise makes them helpful allies. A sandbox game at heart, Enshrouded encourages folks to express themselves however they see fit through various customization layers, from appearance to combat roles. There won't be any predetermined path other than the one chosen by the Flameborn (that's what player characters are called in the game). While there is a class selection screen when creating your character, you can potentially access any skills by moving to a different branch of the skill tree. As mentioned earlier, inspiration came from Breath of the Wild for the freeform exploration of the world and the combat, which I was told won't be too punishing. Valheim, on the other hand, was picked because the developers agree that it's best to provide buffs for players that take care of eating, sleeping, et cetera, instead of penalizing those who do not. There won't be difficulty modifiers or settings at the early access launch, though they're expected to be added later. Keen Games said console releases are planned, but only after the game is fully released on PC. When I inquired about the estimated length of the early access phase, Christoulakis couldn't say for sure, but he reckoned it would be at least one year. Still, the game already includes controller support on the PC build for anyone who prefers that over the mouse and keyboard controls. Enshrouded is powered by the studio's own engine. The reason for that is taking advantage of the engine's custom-built voxel technology created by Keen Games to allow players to sculpt the terrain during the building phase. Voxel games tend to look blocky, but the developers made an effort to hide that for this new game, providing a more realistic graphics style. When asked whether Keen added support for upscalers like AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution and/or NVIDIA Deep Learning Super Sampling for their game, Christoulakis confirmed that FSR is already in Enshrouded and DLSS will be added soon. Apple has big plans for the iPad Pro in the coming years. It was previously reported that the company will launch the iPad Pro with a 14.1-inch display that will feature an even more powerful M3 Pro chip instead of an M3 chip. Apart from this, the company is also working on a special iPadOS 17 version that will cater to the device. Now, a leaker suggested that Final Cut Pro is coming to iPadOS in 2024 with new iPad Pro models, while Logic Pro is expected to arrive by 2025. Additionally, iPadOS 17 will also bring controls for sound output source and the ability to turn the iPad's display off while it is connected to an external display. With Final Cut Pro on iPadOS, the gap between Macs and iPads would further shrink. Today, leaker @analyst941 mentions in a tweet that Final Cut Pro will be coming to iPadOS in 2024. What this means is that Apple's most powerful video editing app will be available on the powerful iPad Pro models. It is likely that the software will make its debut alongside the 14.1-inch iPad Pro models next year to take advantage of the new chip. The leaker notes that while the Final Cut Pro version would be identical to the version on Mac, it would feature some design tweaks to support touch input. To be fair, a mild redesign would make sense since there is a difference between the two input methods. For instance, some elements could be too small and give room for accidental touches. Nonetheless, the iPad Pro would potentially retain Apple Pencil support which could prove to be helpful in editing videos, like dragging timelines. Now, AMD has formally announced its Ryzen 7040U Phoenix APU aiming for ultra-thin and low-power devices. This makes them a perfect choice for the super modular Framework Laptop 13. Framework has announced that its Laptop 13 will come in two CPU flavors, the Ryzen 7 7840U & the Ryzen 5 7640U. For these APUs, Framework has come up with a brand new cooling solution that is rated to cool up to 28 Watts of continuous load or if you want to do light-weigh tasks, you can easily switch to the more eco-friendly and efficient 15W mode. If you want to use an eGPU, you can do that too! This is because the Framework Laptop 13 with Ryzen 7040 Series processors has two fully capable USB4 ports, with the back left and back right Expansion Cards slots. The game developed by HoYoverse, the same team behind Genshin Impact, features a handful of mechanics that may disorient players unfamiliar with this genre, especially if they have never dealt with other titles by the popular Chinese studio. Therefore, we have listed five valuable tips and tricks to help beginners with the game. Honkai: Star Rail may seem pretty straightforward, particularly at the beginning of the journey: you get an assignment, go from point A to B, talk to a few characters, and defeat the enemies. However, it hides much more than this, and you will soon notice it by progressing in the adventure and completing quests. You will need many resources to level up your characters and obtain Star Rail Passes if you don’t want to buy the Express Supply Pass for 4.99 USD. Therefore, pay close attention to your surroundings and explore every corner of the map in detail, looking for Treasures and Destructible Objects. You can get Credits, Trailblaze EXP, Stellar Jades, and more. The most valuable Treasures will often be hidden behind one or more enemies, so be ready to fight. As you progress in the game, you will eventually encounter some powerful enemies of a significantly higher level than your team. These tough guys will give you a hard time during combat if you choose to fight them, but it will be worth it. Honkai: Star Rail features a handy fast-travel system that lets you quickly move between locations you have visited. However, this feature is not immediately available. You will unlock it as you progress through the story and get to “The Voyage Continues” quest. Open the map and click on any blue Space Anchor icon to use it. On the map, you will also see the number of Treasures you have collected so far in one specific area and the ones you may be missing, so you can return to it and look for them. You will also be able to locate Formidable Foes and reach them to obtain valuable goodies after you defeat them. If you log in to the game every day, you will be able to collect great rewards. Open the Travel Log and select the A World Beyond tab to claim the items. Currently, you will get one or more Star Rail Special Passes, depending on the day. His Seesaw Innate Skill, however, lets him regain health every time he knocks an enemy down. Bruno is a good choice for players looking for a stealthier approach. His Backstab Innate Skill, in fact, grants him a moderate damage boost when he hits enemies from behind. His Critical Damage levels are the highest among the six playable characters, and he also has good Agility attributes. His Peak Health, however, is low. Therefore, you need to rely on environmental kills and master the dodging (or blocking) techniques if you don’t want to die often with him. Carla isn’t the best pick if you want to rely on critical hits to slay zombies, as her Critical Damage levels are the lowest among the Slayers in Dead Island 2. Shawwal marks the end of Ramadan.
