For travel tips, recipes and more insight on Italian culture, sign up for CNN’s Unlocking Italy newsletter. This eight-part guide will have you packing your bags in no time. The historic Italian city of Florence is taking steps to cut overtourism, introducing measures including a ban on key boxes used by short-term rental landlords and tour guide loudspeakers, amid complaints that a surge in visitors has become unsustainable. With stunning Renaissance art and architecture, Florence, in Tuscany, has long been po[CENSORED]r with travelers. But, like many other places in Italy and elsewhere, it has seen a drastic increase in tourists in recent years, leading to a backlash from residents priced out of their homes. This week, as the city prepares to host tourism ministers from the G7 group of the world’s most advanced economies, authorities approved a 10-point plan to tackle the problem, introduced by mayor Sarah Funaro. In the firing line are the key boxes — combination-protected lock boxes used by short-let landlords to facilitate easy check-ins for guests — which will be restricted in the city’s UNESCO-listed center, known for masterpieces by Botticelli, Michelangelo, Giotto and Brunelleschi. Lately, these boxes have been targeted for vandalism, with frustrated locals taping them closed with red Xs. Limits are to be placed on “atypical vehicles” like golf carts which have become increasingly po[CENSORED]r for tour guides to take visitors around the city in areas where car traffic is restricted. The decree also bans the use of amplifiers and loudspeakers for tour guides. Italian city Florence bans key boxes and tour guide loudspeakers to tackle overtourism | CNN

Now that a new beta has been released, I thought I'd provide my two cents on how I think this game is coming along. Hand holding tutorials Currently I believe that the only positive change between this new version and the alpha tests pre-2020 is the art style, removal of levelling and changing to landscape. Starting over and changing how the game would fundamentally play was completely unnecessary as the pre-2020 version was still underwhelming, but could easily have been re-tooled into a pretty good game. Currently my gripes with the modern pvz3 is that currently all the strategy and brain work into beating a level has been completely removed. The game holds your hand ridiculously tight for pretty much the whole beta, explaining things that player's could find out easily by themselves. The worst example of this is an entire level completely dedicated to telling you that "more sunflowers = more sun". New plants were also introduced through these tutorials, instead of giving the player the option to read up on the plants through the almanac. It is unnecessary to explain what a plant does through a level tutorial when on the menu before you play a level, tapping a seed packet will give you the exact same information as 2-3 "tutorial" levels. More is told than there is shown, which removes the sandbox-like feeling the original game has where you essentially discover the plant's strengths and weaknesses through gameplay and the almanac. These tutorial levels are also very very short, with some having less than 10 zombies, which baffles me even further as to why these levels would exist in the first place. Levels are also generally too short, with a "plant now think later" sort of mentality. Pvz 3 review: A fandom losing morale. - Answer HQ

South Park: Snow Day! is a 2024 action-adventure game developed by Question and published by THQ Nordic in association with South Park Digital Studios. The game is based on the South Park animated series and takes place after the events of the previous games The Stick of Truth and The Fractured but Whole. It was released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on March 26, 2024, and received mixed reviews from critics, with mixed reactions towards the change in art style, writing and humor, and criticism towards the gameplay, toned down content, and short length, with many comparing it negatively to The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole. South Park: Snow Day! centers around the four main characters—Eric Cartman, Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, and Kenny McCormick—participating in snow-based fights and activities, with players assuming the role of a player-created character named The New Kid (as with the previous games the Stick of Truth, Phone Destroyer, and the Fractured but Whole). After completing the tutorial, the player is placed in a small hub world, in which the po[CENSORED]tion resides in Kupa Keep in Cartman's backyard. The player can interact with characters such as Cartman in which missions are selected, Mr. Hankey, who takes dark matter (actually feces) as currency to improve the player's perks through a skill tree, which can also be swapped to accommodate the player's preferences, Butters Stotch who keeps a record of cards found throughout the game, Tolkien Black who maintains the armory where the player can select weapons and abilities, and Tweek Tweak and Craig Tucker who maintain the Bazaar, where the player can purchase emotes or customizable clothes and hairstyles with platinum points. Once a mission is selected, the player must select a card that can improve abilities depending on their loadout, as well as a Bullshit card, that would give the players major advantages. Enemies will also have cards set before missions start. Arenas contain multiple chests that can carry Cheesy Poofs for healing, toilet paper that can be used as currency to upgrade cards, and dark matter. In combat, enemies will attack throughout the map, and occasionally use Bullshit cards placed at the start of the level. Jimmy Valmer will be found after each combat section and offer other cards or upgrades to preexisting cards before the player heads off to the next arena. Henrietta Biggle can also be found in places across the arenas to give players Tarot cards that can replenish Bullshit cards or hand out currency among other things. After completing the main story, Nichole Daniels will inform the player of Infernal Pacts, where they can find her during missions, and accept difficult tasks, which lead to rewards if they survive. Four years after its triumphant revival, the ultimate aircraft simulation series returns with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The painstakingly realistic aviation title puts you behind the stick of more than 65 aircraft and lets you take off from more than 50 handcrafted airports. So, are you ready to cruise the skies on Nov. 19? Check out the game's minimum and recommended system specs to see if your gaming PC can take you airborne. Why the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Hype? The Microsoft Flight Simulator series has taught gamers how to fly since 1982. However, it saw a big boost with the critically acclaimed Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. The beautiful visuals, real-world weather data, and gameplay that reflects actual aeronautics made it the perfect escape during the Covid-19 lockdowns, much like Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 looks to build on that success. This next-gen installment introduces new missions, aircraft, league challenges, photo challenges, and environmental features like animal migr ation and tornadoes. DLC from the previous game also carries over in an extremely consumer-friendly move. Where Can You Play Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024? Microsoft is in the game's title, so it's no surprise that Flight Simulator 2024 is launching on PC and Xbox Series X/S. The game lands on Nov. 19, and you can add the $69.99 game to your Steam Wishlist right now. Several premium versions add more planes and airports, up to the $199.99 Aviator Edition. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 hits Xbox Game Pass on release day like many other Xbox games. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024: Can Your PC Run This Aviation Adventure? | PCMag

The Sony Xperia 1 VI is Sony’s top Android phone, and it will seem pretty familiar to existing Sony fans. Even with a significant change to the screen aspect ratio versus the Sony Xperia 1 V, using the Xperia 1 VI feels like meeting an old friend. A lot of the typical Sony strengths and weaknesses are here too. The Sony Xperia 1 VI’s key charm is in the way it rejects several contemporary smartphone trends. It has a headphone jack. It has expandable memory. It doesn’t have a camera cutout in the screen, and Sony hasn’t cut down battery capacity just to make the Xperia 1 VI marginally thinner. These will all seem smart moves to a good chunk of the phone-buying audience out for something a little different. And you still get high-end camera hardware, a top-tier chip, good speakers, and an eye-catching screen — just about all the usual elements expected of a pricey Android phone. The Sony Xperia 1 VI does cost a packet, though, and arguably isn’t hugely competitive considering some of the slightly less advanced parts. These include slower-than-ideal fast charging, camera processing that still lags a little behind the best for dynamic range optimization and night-time image processing. I also found the rear disappointingly prone to visible scratches, despite the use of high-end toughened glass. A big part of the appeal here is the handful of features that Sony’s Xperia 1 VI shares with much lower-end phones. There’s still a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD slot built into the SIM tray. These are not expensive features to implement, but are vanishingly rare in phones of this level. The Sony Xperia 1 VI is a lovely phone, but you had better buy into its specific style for the outlay to be worthwhile. Note: This review addresses v3.03 of the software. CrystalDiskInfo is a utility program which tells you just about everything about the hardware performance of your hard disk–including how likely it is to stop performing in the near future. It uses the S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) protocol, which is included in most hard disks likely to be found in recent systems, to tell you what’s going on with your discs. This includes such details as current drive temperature, number of failed read or write attempts, how long the drive has been running and how often it’s been started and stopped, and so on. As various factors approach thresholds of danger, CrystalDiskInfo will alert you, letting you know it’s time to make backups while you still can. Generally, once a drive starts to die, it will tumble downhill fast, so if you begin seeing an uptick in failure rates, it’s often best to assume the worst. CrystalDiskInfo uses a straightforward interface, showing all of the data it can retrieve from each drive on your system. (Different drives implement S.M.A.R.T. in different ways and not every drive tracks or reports every possible value.) There aren’t a lot of options or settings or deep drill-downs–what you see is pretty much what you get. There also isn’t any explanation of what the particular values mean–some are self-evident, such as temperature, but others, such as “Current Pending Sector Count”, are not things most computer users, even fairly sophisticated ones, are likely to know offhand. CrystalDiskInfo’s “documentation” on S.M.A.R.T. is a link to Wikipedia. A free utility that can give you a heads-up when your disk begins to fail is certainly worth the price. It should be noted, however, that while S.M.A.R.T. can predict some disk failures, others can come very suddenly. There is no substitute for regular backups. CrystalDiskInfo | PCWorld

The Crucial X9 Pro (starts at $89.99; $129.99 for 2TB as tested) has most everything users might look for in an external SSD: a compact and lightweight frame that's also sturdy, capacities up to 4TB, 256-bit hardware-based encryption, and good benchmark results. While the X9 Pro lacks the raw speed of the Editors' Choice-winning Crucial X10 Pro, which is geared to videographers and creative types, it doesn't require special hardware to get the most out of it, and it comes in at a lower price. That makes it a better choice for most users, and it earns its own Editors' Choice award as a general-purpose solid-state drive. A USB-C port resides in the middle of one of the X9 Pro's short ends, and a very short USB-C-to-USB-C cable is included. The X9 Pro supports USB 3.2 Gen 2, and should be compatible with most any laptop or desktop computer with a USB-C or USB-A port. (For the latter, you'll need a C-to-A adapter plug or cable.) The Crucial X10 Pro supports the faster USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 standard, but to avail yourself of its blazing throughput you will need either a compatible computer (few models, even recent ones, are), or to add a Gen 2x2 expansion card. Check out our USB-C explainer for more on the differences between the USB interfaces. The X9 Pro comes in capacities ranging up to 4TB. Many Gen 2 external SSDs, such as the Editors' Choice-winning Samsung Portable SSD T7 Touch and the Samsung Portable SSD T7 Shield, max out at 2TB, while the SK Hynix Beetle X31 is limited to 1TB. INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- On his first defensive snap in two weeks, Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Zach Sieler stuffed a screen pass to Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams for a 10-yard loss. Sieler had missed Miami's previous two games with an orbital bone injury he suffered in practice in Week 8, but he returned for Monday night's 23-15 win over the surging Rams. The tackle for a loss ultimately led to a three-and-out Rams drive and helped set the tone defensively for the remainder of the night. "[As] you go through the week, you are correcting some stuff from the previous game, and I think the guys felt a lot of confidence in terms of where they were building," Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said. "Then getting a couple key guys back ... Sieler is such an important part of what we do. "So it was absolutely a momentum-capturing moment where guys were fired up to have one of the most important pieces of the unit back on the field to make plays immediately." The Dolphins allowed 327 yards but held the Rams to five field goals Monday night -- Miami's first time this season keeping an opponent out of the end zone. In a spectacular defensive effort, the Dolphins pressured Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford on 15 of his 49 dropbacks and recorded a season-high four sacks, while also limiting their opponent to just three third-down conversions in 12 attempts. "I think our defense really galvanized the whole team, and I think it's very, very difficult to keep that offense out of the end zone," McDaniel said. "I think that the jump-off point was third down. I thought that the coaching staff led by [defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver] did a great job with having a way to attack the guys, and I thought collectively it was the best execution of what we were trying to get done. Did you know that the way we hold grudges can affect our heart? A recent study led by Adam O’Riordan and Aisling M. Costello says that the way we express our anger can directly impact our cardiovascular health. People with quick temper, especially ones who hold it in, are at a greater risk of developing heart diseases over time. Previous studies have found links between anger and the risk of heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular problems. ALSO READ: Do you get angry easily and regret later? Deepak Chopra offers tips to manage it Study author Adam O’Riordan, an assistant professor of psychology at The University of Texas at San Antonio, said that angry personality traits have always been associated with cardiovascular risks, with stress responses acting as a pathway for diseases. This research observed the link between the expression of anger and how it can pose risk of heart diseases. The study was conducted on 669 participants from the Midlife Development in the United States (MIDUS) dataset who underwent a controlled stress test, and their blood pressure and heart rate were measured. Their reactions were based on anger temperament and anger reaction. They were further divided into three categories based on their reactions – suppressed anger, directing the anger and regulating temper and anger. Do you hold grudges? The tragic seizure and killing of Peanut the squirrel in New York has sparked global outrage, drawing widespread criticism from animal lovers worldwide. Peanut, a beloved squirrel, was rescued seven years ago after being found orphaned and injured as a baby, and nursed back to health. Following anonymous complaints, officers from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) seized both Peanut and a raccoon named Fred from Mark Longo’s home in rural Pine City, near the Pennsylvania border. With a rapidly growing Instagram following of 698,000, Peanut was adored by fans around the world. Tens of thousands signed an online petition demanding his return. Unfortunately, in New York, wild animals are regarded as property, offering little legal recourse. Rescued as an infant, Peanut was unable to develop the essential survival skills needed for the wild, leading to the decision to keep him indoors for his well-being. As for Fred, Lango said he only had the raccoon for a few months, hoping to rehabilitate the injured animal and release him back into the wild. New Zealand’s Prime Minister Christopher Luxon made a “formal and unreserved” apology in Parliament on Tuesday for the widespread abuse, torture and neglect of hundreds of thousands of children and vulnerable adults in care, many of them Indigenous. “It was horrific. It was heartbreaking. It was wrong. And it should never have happened,” Luxon said, as he spoke to lawmakers and a public gallery packed with survivors of the abuse. An estimated 200,000 people in state, foster and faith-based care suffered “unimaginable” abuse over a period of seven decades, a blistering report released in July said at the end of the largest inquiry ever undertaken in New Zealand. “For many of you it changed the course of your life, and for that, the government must take responsibility,” Luxon said. “Words do matter and I say these words with sincerity: I have read your stories, and I believe you,” he added. The Prime Minister was apologizing on behalf of previous governments too, he said. The results were a “national disgrace,” the inquiry’s report said, after a six-year investigation believed to be the widest-ranging of comparable probes worldwide. Of 650,000 children and vulnerable adults in state, foster, and church care between 1950 and 2019 — in a country that today has a po[CENSORED]tion of 5 million — nearly a third endured physical, sexual, verbal or psychological abuse. Many more were exploited or neglected. They were disproportionately Maori, New Zealand’s Indigenous people. In response to the findings, New Zealand’s government agreed for the first time that historical treatment of some children in a notorious state-run hospital amounted to torture, and pledged an apology to all those abused in state, foster and religious care since 1950. Luxon’s government was decried by some survivors and advocates earlier Tuesday ahead of the apology for not yet having divulged plans for the financial compensation of those abused. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Monday Russia has deployed nearly 50,000 troops to Kursk, the southern Russian region where Kyiv launched its surprise counteroffensive in the summer. Ukrainian troops “continue to hold back” the “nearly 50,000-strong enemy group” in Kursk, Zelensky said in a post on Telegram after receiving a briefing from General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces. Kyiv launched its incursion into Russia’s Kursk region in August, taking by surprise not just Moscow, but also its allies. It said at the time, that the operation was necessary, because Russia had been planning to launch a new attack on Ukraine from the region. It said it was aiming to create a “buffer zone” to prevent future cross-border attacks. The Kursk offensive, the first ground invasion of Russia by a foreign power since World War II, caught Moscow completely unprepared. Ukrainian advanced quickly deep into Russia’s territory and have since maintained control over hundreds of square miles of Russia’s territory. And while Russia has reclaimed some settlements, the line of control has barely changed over the past months. A US official told CNN on Sunday that Russia has amassed a large force of tens of thousands — including recently arrived North Korean troops — to carry out an assault on the Ukrainian positions in Kursk. The official said the offensive was expected in the coming days. The Kremlin has not commented on the presence of North Korean troops on its territory. At a meeting of the UN Security Council last week, Russia refused to answer questions from the US about its deployment of North Korean troops.
