LONDON: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday met with King Charles III during the reception hosted by the king for the foreign dignitaries in London, visiting to attend the state funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II. Extending condolences over the passing of his mother Queen Elizabeth II, the premier observed that the late monarch was a source of inspiration and strength for generations of Commonwealth citizens.PM Shehbaz recalled that the people of Pakistan had fond memories of the late queen’s two visits to the country. After attending the funeral, the premier will leave for the United States on the same day. New Delhi: Delhi Police have registered a case against supporters of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan for an obstructing officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in the discharge of government work. Those involved in manhandling are being identified. Supporters of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan manhandled an Anti-Corruption Bureau official during raids at the residence of the AAP MLA in Jamia Nagar, on September 16. The Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan on Friday in connection with the Delhi Waqf Board corruption case, on the basis of the recovery of incriminating material and evidence against him during the conducted searches. A weapon was found at one of the locations. The MLA could not show any license of the recovered arms (Berreta pistol). The AAP MLA was arrested after the ACB raided four locations related to Mr Khan and his business partner, from where cash and weapons were recovered. According to the officials, a total of ₹ 24 lakh in cash was recovered along with two illegal weapons. The South East District Police lodged two FIRs against the AAP MLA's aides Hamid Ali and Kausar Imam Siddique, while the third one was lodged for obstructing the ACB's raid party in the discharge of government work. The ACB had summoned Amanatullah Khan in connection with the case which pertains to financial misappropriation and other irregularities in the functioning of the Delhi Waqf Board. As per an official statement, the AAP MLA while working as Chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board illegally recruited 32 persons violating all norms and government guidelines with allegations of corruption and favouritism. KYIV, Ukraine — The risks of wandering in war-torn Kharkiv alone did not seem to faze Chichi, the runaway chimpanzee whose escapades this week have made her famous on social media. It was not until a timely intervention from the heavens in the form of rain that her Ukrainian zookeepers were able to persuade her to return home — with a little help from a raincoat and a bicycle. The 13-year-old female chimpanzee escaped from Kharkiv Zoo on Monday, with zookeepers tracking her down about two hours later in the northeastern city’s Freedom Square, not far away. Video shows Chichi eventually being persuaded to put on a yellow hooded rain jacket, before being returned home perched on a bicycle, after briefly roaming through Ukraine's second largest city. Videos of the incident have been shared widely, offering both a rare moment of levity in the thick of Russia's war and an insight into the plight of animals in Ukraine whose homes have also come under bombardment. “Chimpanzees are highly intellectual creatures, it wasn’t difficult to her to break the fence and leave,” Victoria Kozyreva, the zookeeper at Kharkiv Zoo who helped persuade Chichi to return home, told NBC News on Wednesday. "After I heard that she left, I followed her to the square and began to talk to her." Kozyreva, who has known Chichi since the primate's childhood, can be seen approaching her and helping her put on the yellow jacket in the video. It took careful negotiations, she said, to overcome the chimp's initial skepticism. "It wasn’t difficult to convince her. All that's needed is negotiations,” the 45-year-old zookeeper said. "There was rain. I talked to her and invited with my jacket, helped to put it on and gave her a hug."Chichi, who once resided at the Feldman Ecopark in the city’s northern suburbs, was relocated to Kharkiv Zoo after heavy fighting in early March, shortly after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of the country. The ecopark has since permanently closed due to the conflict, which has seen Kharkiv continue to face deadly shelling. Chichi's escape from her enclosure at Kharkiv Zoo was likely made easier by the fact that she used to be kept behind an electric fence at her home before the war, said Serhii Kuvshar, who was Chichi’s caretaker at the ecopark and has also known her since childhood.He speculated that Chichi may have escaped from her enclosure because she was bored, given the lack of recent attention from a public understandably distracted by their own shattered lives. "They are fed up and bored to see zookeepers only," Kuvshar said of chimpanzees in Ukraine. "They do like to boast in front of the people about what they can do, they like when people admire them, it is a great joy for them to communicate with people," he said. Around 4,000 animals from the ecopark were evacuated to other sanctuaries across Ukraine at the beginning of the invasion, according to the zoo. Six zoo personnel were killed in the shelling, it said. While Chichi's adventure ended happily, Kozyreva said many of the primates were suffering due to the war. “All of them have PTSD now, they experienced real hell, they saw how their relatives died," she said, referring to post-traumatic stress disorder. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has sounded the alarm over an impending “second disaster” of disease and death as concerns grow over the spread of water-borne diseases among the flood-hit people in Sindh. The warning, issued late on Saturday by WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, comes after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on the nation to generously donate baby food and blankets for flood-affected people on an urgent basis. In the statement, the WHO chief also urged donors to continue to respond generously to “save lives and prevent more suffering”. He highlighted that the water supply was disrupted in flood-hit areas, forcing people to drink unsafe water which could cause cholera and other diseases.“Health centres have been flooded, their supplies damaged, and people have moved away from home which makes it harder for them to access their normal health services.” He pointed out that health workers in the country were stretched to the limit as they did all they could do to deliver critical services amid the destruction. “Nearly 2,000 health facilities have been fully or partially damaged.” He said the WHO had provided water purification kits and oral rehydration salts to manage diarrhoeal diseases. WHO immediately released $10 million from the WHO Contingency Fund for Emergencies which enabled us to deliver essential medicines and other supplies to the country, he added. He also thanked donors for their “prompt response” to the United Nations’ flash appeal. “We continue to assess the scale of the crisis and will issue a revised appeal shortly,” he said. Another 90,000 patients treated in a day in Sindh The Sindh health department, meanwhile, said a total of 2.5 million patients had been treated at different medical camps across the province from July 1 to date. As many as 594,241 patients were treated for skin-related diseases, followed by diarrhea (534,800), malaria (10,702), dengue (1,401), and other diseases (120,745,1), stated a report by the Sindh Directorate General Health Services. The report also showed that 90,398 patients were treated during the last 24 hours, of which 17,919 had diarrhea, 19,746 had skin-related diseases, 695 had malaria and 388 had dengue. Around 92,797 citizens were treated in the province on September 15. Speaking to Dawn.com, Dadu District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Muhammad Ali Samejo said different diseases, mainly gastro and malaria, were being reported among the district’s flood-hit people.
