  9. Hello Ladies And Gentlemen! Welcome To Our CsBlackDevil.Com Today's News! Read Up Next Most of Microsoft’s Surface product lineup is scheduled for a potential refresh at Microsoft’s October 2 event in New York City, and educated guesses, rumors, and potential reports of new Surface hardware are beginning to, er, surface. But which ones make sense? Last October, Microsoft’s Surface launch included the Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2, the Surface Studio 2, and the Surface Headphones. Earlier in 2018, Microsoft announced the Surface Go and the Surface Book 2. Theoretically, Microsoft could refresh all of these products, which would make for an epic Surface event next month. Microsoft has a wide variety of chip platforms from AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm to tap for new Surface hardware. For one, there are no fewer than six viable Core microprocessors around which Microsoft could build a Surface device: the existing 8th-gen Intel “Whiskey Lake” U-series laptop and “Amber Lake” Y-series chips; Intel’s ”Ice Lake” 10th-gen platform, also in U- and Y-series configurations; and the upclocked 10th-gen “Comet Lake” platform, also in U- and Y-series splits. Intel’s Pentium Gold chips, the foundation of the Surface Go, can still play a role. Then there are AMD’s new Ryzen Mobile processors, which have historically struggled to find traction in notebook PCs. Finally we have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8cx chips, which promise improved performance and all-around connectivity. Depending on how you count it, that’s six different chip platforms from which to choose, and that’s before you start diving down into individual families such as the Core i5 or Ryzen 7. Now let’s handicap the rumors around specific product features... Surface Pro 7 using USB-C: Credible Thurrott’s Brad Sams begin making claims last year that the Surface Pro 7 (and probably the Surface Laptop 3, too) would include a USB-C interface, as part of Beneath A Surface, a book he wrote about the past and future of Surface devices. To be fair, most people expected Microsoft to migrate to USB-C last generation, as virtually all of its competition has done so, as well as the Surface Book 2. The question now is whether Microsoft will do away with the Surface connector, a staple of all Surface devices, or double it up, as it has done with the Surface Book 2. Our guess: USB-C replaces the Type-A connector already on Surface devices. If Microsoft does away with the Surface connector, the USB-C port will probably be Thunderbolt-enabled. If not, it’s more likely that USB-C will exist alongside the Surface Connector as a more generic I/O. Surface Pro 7 using Comet Lake: Credible It’s reasonable to assume that Intel’s Comet Lake is going to appear in one Surface product, and Ice Lake in another. Winfuture.de believes the Surface Pro 7 is going to run Comet Lake, and in the following configurations: Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i3, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 256GB SSD Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 512GB SSD This is also credible, not the least of which because these are some of the default configurations for most every laptop at some time or another. But remember, Ice Lake boasts an upgraded Iris Plus-capable GPU, while Comet Lake boasts faster clock speeds. Deciding to boost clock speeds on a tablet while reserving Ice Lake’s graphics horsepower for a Surface Laptop 3 or Surface Book 3 makes more sense. A “OEMJL” listing in GeekBench (code names Microsoft has used before) suggests an SP7 could use Ice Lake, but we’re still skeptical. A 15-inch Surface Laptop 3: Plausible The original Surface Laptop was a wonderfully purpose-built laptop for students. The Surface Laptop 2 didn’t change much, while the competition reacted. Winfuture.de again is suggesting a 15-inch Surface Laptop 3 may be in the offing, together with the existing 13-inch model. It’s reasonable. I don’t see any particular need for a 15-inch Surface Laptop, but it would broaden a product line. On the other hand, it would also represent development work above and beyond any revisions to the 13-inch model. Past iterations have suggested that Microsoft has been conservative in making hardware changes. A Surface Laptop 3 with mobile Ryzen: Doubtful Winfuture.de is also claiming it’s seen private retailer data that suggest the 15-inch Surface Laptop 3 (along with, possibly, some other device?) could include AMD’s mobile Ryzen chip inside of it. We’d like this to happen, and if so it would be an enormous validation for AMD’s mobile ambitions. Thurrott’s Brad Sams is also on record claiming that Microsoft is testing an AMD Picasso SOC inside a Surface. But boy, would that be a leap. Most every Surface to date has used an Intel-manufactured processor (the exceptions being the Surface 2’s Nvidia Tegra chip and the Surface RT). AMD has a relatively tiny presence in the mobile market beyond its A-series chips. I still think Microsoft will break out of the Intel hegemony, but I see it with Qualcomm, not AMD. Update, Sept. 23: Winfuture is doubling down on its mobile Ryzen reporting, claiming that there are six models of Surface Laptop 3s in the works, with unannounced six- and eight-core mobile Ryzen 3000 chips inside. Prices would range from $999 to $2,399, the site says. Six- and even eight-core mobile Ryzen chips are indeed the logical next steps for AMD, but add AMD's current supply issues to the questions we had before, and we remain skeptical. Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx inside a Surface: Possible Winfuture.de again predicts that a revamped Surface Pro 7 will use an Intel Core m, which the Surface Pro tablet has used previously. Brad Sams takes another tack—that the Surface Pro 7 may have an option that uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx instead. If Microsoft believes in its Windows-on-ARM vision, then designing a Surface around an ARM chip is a no-brainer, and the 8cx is the obvious choice. So far we haven’t seen the platform squeezed into anything smaller than a clamshell form factor, so a Surface Pro 7 may be an option. I still think that the Surface Go makes sense; however, if you want an always-connected, all-day machine, the Surface Laptop makes more sense. But—and this is a big but—the minute some student can’t complete an assignment because of incompatibilities, Surface’s reputation in the educational space will tank, and fast. There’s a lot of upside with a Snapdragon Surface, but a lot of potential downside, too. A dual-screen Surface: Show, not sell Intel began promoting dual-screen PCs in 2018, and we saw more prototypes this past summer at Computex with Honeycomb Glacier and others. Microsoft, too, reportedly has a “Centaurus” dual-screen tablet in the works, taking a page from devices like the Galaxy Fold. A dual-display device implicitly asks users to type on glass, however. PCWorld editors split sharply on this—I think it’s a bad idea, akin to running on bare feet. My editor, Melissa Riofrio, is much more open to the idea. It would be difficult for Microsoft to discard its excellent Surface keyboards for a device that does... what? Consume content? And run what OS? The consensus seems to feel that Microsoft may show a dual-display device at the Surface launch, and not sell it quite yet. A dual-display device is terrifically exciting from a content-consumption standpoint, but we’d hope that Microsoft presents a viable business case for it, too. A Surface Book 3 with RTX hardware? Why not? The status of the Surface Book 3 is decidedly in question. It’s certainly time for Microsoft to update its mobile powerhouse laptop, though the Surface Book 2’s power problems suggested that Microsoft may need to rethink its design. A July bug blocking the Surface Book 2 from receiving the May 2019 Update—and playing 3D games—because of discrete GPU issues has not been officially fixed since then, either. (On my Surface Book 2, however, the discrete GPU works.) If Microsoft were to revamp the Surface Book 2, though, it could certainly stand to refresh it with either Intel’s Comet Lake or Ice Lake chips. It’s unclear whether Microsoft would prefer to go with Ice Lake’s Iris Plus graphics and a discrete GPU. It would be a big deal, however, if Microsoft were to bet big and put an Nvidia mobile RTX chip inside. There have been absolutely no leaks suggesting this is happening, but it’s a future that Microsoft could bring into the present. When a user makes a call, the record shwos the phone number of the caller and the IMEI digits on the handset aswell. The unique number attached to any mobile device is given by global industry body GSMA. Earlier This Month, The Center Launched a portal that will help users to detect their lost or stolen mobile phone With The Pilot Originating from Mumbai. Typically, the IMEI number will help DoT trace the handset from which the call originated in case of any suspicious activity, and block them or track lost phones. When a phone is lost or stolen, DoT will block the handset but in case a new SIM is inserted in the phone and a call is made; the service provider will flag off the details of the new caller to the authorities who in turn will trace the new caller. “So far, we had a record of all phones that are imported into India. The telecom department and the customs department work together to check and record the IMEI numbers of handsets that come into India. But now we want domestic makers to provide the codes as well,” the official said. A bulk of the phones that are sold in India are now also made in India, and not imported. The DoT has been working on this Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR), a database of IMEIs, for the past couple of years but now wants all handset players to submit the numbers as well. IMEI numbers are unique and programmed into the handset, but in fraudulent cases, the government has found that the IMEI numbers have been reprogrammed for creating duplicate handsets as well. “Right from the supplier to the seller, one may not realise that a phone with a duplicate code has been sold. If we have the list and see the digit crop up again, we can flag it off,” said the official. have the list and see the digit crop up again, we can flag it off,” said the official. 17. Hello Ladies And Gentlemen! Welcome To Our CsBlackDevil's Daily SoftWare News! Read Up Next Pune: IBM will focus beyond its top 200 enterprise customers for its cloud business in India as more clients start hosting applications on the internet, a senior company executive told ET. Until now, the company had focused on the top 200 enterprises for its cloud offerings. “On a smaller base, we’re seeing triple-digit revenue growth in the commercial segment as we focus on acquiring more customers. Meanwhile, we’re going deeper with existing enterprise customers,” said Vikas Arora, IBM cloud and cognitive software leader for India region. This includes work done in setting up a security operations centre for the Bombay Stock Exchange and developing a managed software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform for IT firm Happiest Minds. Arora said most enterprises are now at Chapter 2, or moving the remaining 80% of their applications to the cloud. This is harder than Chapter 1, which entailed running proofs of concept and moving primary customer-facing applications to the cloud. The second phase of applications is more crucial to the business and is integratedNSE -2.26 % with other applications, making it a more complex process. For IBM, the cloud business in India has been growing in double digits, with areas like data and security solutions also growing in double digits. While the firm does not provide country-specific data, the cloud business globally comprises a quarter of IBM’s revenue at $19.5 billion. The hybrid cloud opportunity is pegged at $1.2 trillion by 2020, and the company has stated that it intends to be the leading player in this space. IBM’s acquisition of Red Hat earlier this year will play an important role as it will help enterprisses deploy and run data and applications on premise through private and multiple public cloud platforms and give access to Red Hat's open technology Tools. According to Arora, the next chapter of the cloud journey will be defined by the hybrid cloud. "We expect that 10 years from now, only 40-60% of the world's data will be on public cloud." 21. Hello Ladies And Gentlemen! Welcome to our CsBlackDevil.Com Daily News! Read Up Next: Seoul: On the same street corner in Seoul where 10,000 South Korean women rallied last October to demand an end to spy cameras and sexual violence, the leader of a new activist group addressed a small group of angry young men. "We are a group for legal justice, anti-hate, and true gender equality," Moon Sung-ho boomed into a microphone to a crowd of a few dozen men waving placards. As feminist issues come to the fore in deeply patriarchal South Korea, there's a growing discontent among young men that they're being left behind. Moon, who leads Dang Dang We, a group "fighting for justice for men," is one of them. Feminism is no longer about gender equality. It is gender discrimination and its manner is violent and hateful. Moon Sung-ho, leader of Dang Dang We He started his group last year after a 39-year-old business owner was sentenced to six months in prison for grabbing a woman's buttocks in a Korean soup restaurant. The case provoked outrage that a man could be convicted on no evidence beyond the victim's claims. While some lashed out at the judge, 29-year-old Moon found another culprit: feminism. Moon and his group held a panel discussion at the National Assembly, Korea's top legislature, in early September, to expose what they perceive to be the alleged harms of the movement. "Feminism is no longer about gender equality. It is gender discrimination and its manner is violent and hateful," he said to applause from his audience of about 40, mostly young, men. "I don't support the #MeToo movement" The emergence of mainstream feminist voices and ideas came in response to the brutal murder of a young woman near a subway station in trendy Seoul suburb, Gangnam, in 2016. The perpetrator deliberately targeted a female victim. The woman's death triggered an examination of attitudes towards women in the country, which broadened to include campaigns against sexual harassment, like the #MeToo movement and anti-spy cam protests, dubbed #mylifeisnotyourporn. To many, the discussion was long overdue in male orientated South Korea, which ranks well below the global average on the 2018 Global Gender Gap report, with major disparities in terms of wage equality and earned income for women. Campaigners found support from the South Korean government and President Moon Jae-In, who vowed to "become a feminist president" before he was elected in 2017. Since then, there have been several high-profile prosecutions relating to sexual abuse involving politicians, K-pop stars, and regular men. With each court victory, the disquiet among men, especially young men, began to build. "I don't support the #MeToo movement," said Park, a business student in his early 20s who vehemently disagrees with the notion that young women today are disadvantaged in society. "I agree that (women) in their 40s and 50s (made sacrifices), but do not believe that women in their 20s and 30s are being discriminated against." South Korean demonstrators hold banners during a rally to mark International Women's Day as part of the country's #MeToo movement in Seoul on March 8, 2018. Park is not his real name. He wants to remain anonymous because he fears repercussions for his views. So does Kim, another student in his early 20s who is about to graduate from university. Kim says he sits apart from women at bars to avoid being falsely accused of sexual harassment. Although he was once supportive of feminism, he now believes it's a women's supremacy movement that aims to bring down men. "When a woman wears revealing clothes, it's gender violence and sexual objectification. But the same critic will enjoy a similar photo of men. Feminists have a double standard," he said. Both Park and Kim say men like them are being punished for the crimes of a previous generation. "Patriarchy and gender discrimination is the problem of the older generation, but the penance is all paid by the men in their 20s," Kim said. Park and Kim are not alone. A Realmeter poll last year of more than 1,000 adults found that 76% of men in their 20s and 66% of men in their 30s oppose feminism, while nearly 60% of respondents in their 20s think gender issues are the most serious source of conflict in the country. What angers Park and Kim most of all is the nation's policy of compulsory conscription, which forces men their age to serve in the military. At the same time, they think women are getting a leg-up from new government programs that help them enter traditionally male-dominated industries. End of old masculinity For 62 years, South Korean men have been forced to join the army. The tradition, which began with the Korean War, requires all able-bodied men between 18 and 35 to serve between 21 to 24 months in the military. But, unlike their fathers, today's youth don't believe in this traditional male duty. Moon's government is trying to increasing the number of women in the military, where they currently make up around 5.5% of active troops, according to the latest figures. But right now, women are exempt from compulsory conscription. Park -- who was injured during his time in the army -- says he got zero benefit from military service. "It's unfair that only one gender must serve during their early 20s. We should be pursuing our dreams instead." It's a view backed by surveys of young men conducted last year by Ma Kyung-hee, a gender policy researcher at Korean Women's Development Institute. Ma's study of 3,000 adult men found that 72% of men aged in their 20s think that the male-only draft is a form of gender discrimination, and almost 65% believe that women should also be conscripted. Almost 83% believe that military service is better to be dodged, if possible, and 68% believe it is a waste of time. They're not just concerned about losing two years of freedom. They're also worried about missing out on opportunities. "If I can't use that time for self-improvement, won't I lag behind women in the job market?" Kim asked. Competition for jobs In South Korea's hyper-competitive job market, well-paying jobs at large conglomerates are few and far between. In the last 10 years, the youth unemployment rate has jumped from 6.9% to 9.9%. If you include youth who are working part time, as well as those who are not in prison, school or the military, that rate soars to 21.8%. And while the country underwent an economic growth spurt from the 70s to the 90s, the young generation of Korea are working in a sluggish economy. Meanwhile, housing prices remain high: the median price for an apartment in Seoul is $670,000 -- while median incomes in the city fall short of $2,000 per month. Competition for jobs is intense -- and it has only become more so thanks to government programs to bring more women into the workforce. Although the country's education gap is all but closed, women earn less than men in the workforce and are poorly represented in government. In November 2017, the Ministry of Gender Equality revealed a five-year plan to expand female representation in ministries, government enterprises, and public schools. Last February, it was proposed that the plan be extended to the private sector to incentivize large conglomerates to hire more women and change the male-centric corporate culture. But some men say these measures are giving women an unfair advantage. "I worry whether I would be disadvantaged in finding employment," Kim said. "Because before, it was a position that I could have easily won by merit, but due to the gender quota, (if I don't get the position) it will be unfair." Park points to women's universities as another example. In South Korea, there are more than a dozen women-only universities and no male equivalent. Some of these schools offer courses in highly coveted professions like law or pharmacy -- and as the country caps the number of law students, the more places that go to women, the fewer there are for men. In her report published last year, researcher Ma said South Korea was in a time of "infinite competition where it is impossible to find a stable job." The older generation of men grew up at a time when women worked in factories, so while many saw women as weaker beings, they understood that women made sacrifices for them, Ma said. "To men in their 20s, women are seen as a competitor to overcome." The conflict is being exacerbated by the internet, where casual misogyny is being normalized, said Ma. Ma found that men who learned about feminism online were more likely to be anti-feminist than those who acquired information offline. She was also surprised to discover that higher-income and higher-educated groups were just as likely to hold anti-feminist views as their lower-income and lower-education counterparts. And while their fathers saw woman as needing protection, Ma found many younger men believe it's women who now hold the power. For them, the #MeToo movement, mandatory military service, and government programs for women's advancement are signs that the playing field is tilting against men. Seeking a political voice Only two years ago, men in their 20s overwhelmingly supported President Moon. Now, less than 30% of men in their 20s supported Moon, compared to 63.5% of women, according to December's Realmeter poll. The trend -- which could be explained by the President's perceived feminist leaning -- has prompted some to seek out politicians that reflect their views. But when they look, they find there are few options. One is Lee Jun-seok, a 34-year-old senior member of centrist Bareun Mirae Party, who has publicly accused feminists of making an unfair grab for privilege at the expense of men. A series of YouTube videos titled "a feminist being destroyed by Lee Jun-seok in debates," have more than 4 million views and tens of thousands of comments, almost all praising Lee. "As (the ruling Democratic Party) moves towards women's rights, the generation (of men) in their 20s and 30s feels clearly lost," Lee says. That's because, currently, no political party is exploiting the growing number of disgruntled men. Lee suggests a party with a strong anti-feminist message could emerge at next year's general election, just as right wing groups surged in Europe. For now, Bareun Mirae's efforts to attract young men seem to be paying off. According to a Gallup Poll earlier this year, men in their 20s and 30s were Bareun Mirae's biggest supporters. Despite the lack of political parties targeting young men, Moon Sung-ho, from Dang Dang We, is not discouraged. "The current social ills that feminism have created wasn't built in a day. It will take time and effort to crumble it. We need to do it gradually," he said. Ma, the researcher, believes that the conflict won't be resolved as long as South Korea has military conscription. "We must stop forcing manhood on men," she said. "Society must help men find a new masculinity, instead of anti-feminism." But Park and Kim feel helpless to change a society that they think is putting women first. "We are a punching bag," Kim said, when asked to describe the status of young men today. He points to how young men are struggling to buy their own homes, or even pay for dates. At the same question, Park becomes deflated. "Men in their 20s are not part of the establishment. We must follow whatever people in their 40s and 50s say," he said. "If everyone could easily get a job and the economy was growing, then maybe we wouldn't need to fight this much." 22. Hello Ladies And Gentlemen, Welcome in Today's HardWare News! Read Up Next: With the new iOS 10.3 release from Apple, the headline for developers is clear: You finally have a voice. The new release finally allows developers to chime in on customer reviews. Developers have been able to do his on Android for a while, but the iOS move is new. TechCrunch reports that “Apple’s ratings and reviews system has felt antiquated, and has been a source of frustration for developers and users alike. When a customer leaves a negative review, developers couldn’t respond to the criticism – which is sometimes unwarranted – in a way that other App Store customers could see. For example, a customer may be misunderstanding a feature, or may have complained about a bug that’s been fixed in a later release.” Additionally: “Being able to quickly clarify the situation in a public manner could help to encourage other potential customers to give the app a try.” This is an issue that developers (and those who support them) have felt strongly about. The Mac Observer writes: “If you want to see developer responses make sure you’re running iOS 10.3 or later on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, and mac OS 10.6.6 or later on the Mac. Developers who want to learn more about responding to App Store comments can check out Apple’s developer website.” There’s another function, too, according to Forbes: “Now developers can update app icons any time without having to submit an update. This can come in handy when developers want to add a seasonal update to their icons such as placing a Santa hat on the artwork.” The post iOS 10.3 Gives Developers New Customer Service Resources appeared first on StartApp. Ladies And Gentlemen, Those Were The HardWare News For Sunday 22/09/2019!
