I want to add millet to every possible food item. On many occasions, you will find me sneaking them in, for they are the physicians of the gut, guarding you and helping you with the cleansing process. If you have attended my five-day online millet workshop, you would have already learnt the art of sneaking in these wonder grains to every possible recipe that’s part of your culture. Yesterday, my daughter wanted those sugary Christmas cookies and it got me researching. I did all my checks to replace white sugar with organic rock sugar (mishri, as we call it), added barnyard millet flour instead of refined flour. I was cautious as to put less food colour, and was quite happy with a cheat meal. It may have looked less glossy, but she loved it! She had no idea what all went in it, but could see her favourite Christmas-y things. That’s what the millet journey is all about. We learn and unlearn in the process. We are open to newer ideas and we respect every food habit. December is about extensive millet workshops, and they are keeping me busy. The new batch is starting January 10, 2021, and you can reach out to my Instagram in case you wish to join. But before that, do check out this step-by-step recipe here. Try making it for your loved ones. It’s Christmas time after all, and one needs to spread some cheer. Make the most of the sweet moments, and count your blessings. Merry Christmas, friends! BARNYARD MILLET BUTTER COOKIES Ingredients: (makes 11 big cookies) · 1 cup refined flour · ¾ cup barnyard millet flour · ¾ cup powdered rock sugar (mishri) · ½ cup powdered rock sugar (for sugar glaze) · 100 g salted butter · Peanut butter (for garnish) · Chocolate ganache (for garnish) · Colourful sprinklers (for garnish)
  8. Minnesota regulators on Saturday told three more establishments that they face 60-day liquor license suspensions for continuing indoor, in-person bar and restaurant service in violation of state pandemic rules. The Interchange in Albert Lea, Cornerstone Cafe in Monticello and The Pour House in Clarks Grove have joined a growing list of bars and restaurants that have ignored Gov. Tim Walz's executive order aimed and slowing the spread of the coronavirus. Others facing similar suspensions are Boardwalk Bar and Grill in East Grand Forks, Alibi Drinkery in Lakeville, Mission Tavern in Merrifield and Neighbors on the Rum in Princeton. “We’re asking the small percentage of bars and restaurants that have opened for inside dining and drinking to stop and comply with the executive order,” Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington said in a news release. “Thousands of our neighbors have died from COVID-19 in Minnesota. That should be enough of a reminder that the health of our communities has to come first. Bars and restaurants that don’t abide by the law will face the consequences of their actions.” All of the businesses cited for violating the order will have hearings before an administrative law judge. They could be looking at five-year liquor license suspensions for additional violations of the closure order. EarlierState cracking down on bars and restaurants opening against order EarlierAG Ellison: 'Nobody wants to push anybody to close' In addition to the liquor license suspensions by the Department of Public Safety, the Attorney General's office and the state Department of Health also have taken action against some businesses that have continued to operate in violation of the executive order. Last week Walz extended his executive order through Jan. 10. While it does now allow limited outdoor, in-person dining, it continues a ban on indoor service. Some small-business owners in Minnesota say they are being singled out while barely scraping by, and say the latest order during the busiest time of the year could shut them down for good. State health officials on Sunday reported 2,705 new cases of COVID-19 and 70 more deaths due to complications from the virus. The deaths, which included 45 people in long-term care facilities, lifted the total number of COVID-19 deaths in Minnesota to 4,850. More than 397,000 positive tests have been reported since the start of the pandemic. Your support matters.
  9. Google has recently suffered a major global outage that temporarily took down several of its services for about 45 minutes. On Monday, 14th December, Google experienced a system outage, which prevented users from accessing platforms such as Gmail, YouTube and the whole suite of Google Workspace solutions. The incident also knocked out smart home products like Google Home and even Google Assistant, according to reports. The tech giant has now released the findings of its investigation and released a statement explaining what caused the system failure. According to Google, its automated storage quota management system was the major cause behind the global outage. “Google uses an evolving suite of automation tools to manage the quota of various resources allocated for services. As part of an ongoing migration of the User ID Service to a new quota system, a change was made in October to register the User ID Service with the new quota system, but parts of the previous quota system were left in place which incorrectly reported the usage for the User ID Service as 0,” said the company in its report. The company noted that the outage would’ve happened earlier, if not for a grace period the company had put in place. Unfortunately, that fix expired, triggering automated systems to decrease the quota allowed for the User ID service and triggering this incident. Google emphasised that they had safeguards in place to prevent those types of issues, but they weren’t built to handle many unintended quota changes, which was the case last Monday. Approximately 15% of requests to Google Cloud Storage (GCS) were impacted during the outage, specifically those using OAuth, HMAC or email authentication. Google’s explanation comes amid increased cybersecurity vigilance following a major hack on software provider SolarWinds, which exposed numerous US government firms and companies including Microsoft. Google reported that it has found no evidence the SolarWinds hack affected Alphabet or Google’s systems.

  11. CD Projekt Red states it has started reaching out to players who applied for refunds of Cyberpunk 2077. The game launched as a technical mess on consoles, specifically the base versions of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, causing many disgruntled players to want their money back. The studio tweeted the following update: The refund situation has become its own headache with CDPR first encouraging players to get their money back, thus giving some players the impression that the studio communicated with Sony and Microsoft to ensure a smooth refund process. A company conference call revealed the opposite was true and the studio walked back some of that messaging. This meant players were at the mercy of the publishers’ established refund policies (of which Sony’s is more restrictive), and many had their requests denied. Last night, Sony made the decision to remove Cyberpunk 2077 from sale on PlayStation Network while offering refunds to any unhappy players. Microsoft, meanwhile, has gone out of its way to make refunding the game easier. Cyberpunk 2077 has become a tale of two games. PC players have enjoyed a more stable experience, while console players have endured game crashes, muddy and/or missing textures, stuttering animations, among other bugs that make the game unrecognizable from its pre-release footage (which, as we now know, was shot on PC). CD Projekt Red promises two major patches will arrive in January in February that will hopefully resolve the console version's biggest issue. Meanwhile, the chaotic mess hasn't only upset the players base, but has generated conflict within CD Projekt Red internally. Good luck to those seeking refunds and let us know in the comments how your experience has been.

Zatímco technici Milan Čerkl a Tomáš Heřmánek z Dopravních podniků Ústí na Labem upevňují naložený vůz, provozní technička ústeckého magistrátu Monika Straková kontaktuje úřadovnu městské policie: „Chtěla bych ohlásit odtah nezpůsobilého vozidla v 11.20 z adresy Za Válcovnou 23, jedná se o červený Seat Ibiza.“ Najít, zjistit, oznámit Samotnému odtahu seatu s propadlou technickou ovšem předcházejí měsíce administrativy.
  15. A red suit with white trim and a silky beard have long been Santa’s trademark style, but the jolly figure bringing holiday cheer around the world comes in many guises, much like the varied shapes and sizes of the Christmas presents he bears. But one wish unites all Santas, from Lebanon to Nigeria, in this year decimated by the coronavirus pandemic. “My Christmas message to the world is to be kinder to everyone in a time when we are so isolated,” said Oliver Levi-Malouf, 22, who performs as a drag queen Santa at The Imperial Hotel in Sydney, with strikingly red lips and dramatic winged eye makeup. Levi-Malouf puts on a Santa event for youth around Christmas time at the hotel, giving out colourful presents such as a feathered fascinator in the shape of a bird. “Breathe, simply breathe,” is the advice of Dana Friedman, who has been a Santa since wanting to hearten first responders and their families after the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York. Friedman, 61, who is an attorney, urges people take time this year to appreciate the beauty and good in the world. “While you’re at it, do something nice for a total stranger,” he said. “But don’t let them know you did it ... Let them pay it forward in their own way.” Japanese mambo musician Paradise Yamamoto has been a Santa for 23 years, and takes an annual certification test he says is no walk in the park. “I was tested on how quickly I ate ginger biscuits, climbed chimneys, and laughed merrily with a good ‘Ho, ho, ho’,” he said. Yamamoto wants to reassure children that Santa is still coming to their houses this Christmas. “I’ve never heard of a Christmas where Santa Claus didn’t appear,” said the 58-year-old, who also owns a gyoza restaurant, where he works as a chef. “I might try to get in your houses through a different route from usual, but I will most certainly visit everyone’s homes – after, of course, washing my hands, gargling, disinfecting the soles of my shoes, and taking the proper measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.” Children excited to see Santa had better take note of the warning from Mexican actor and director of children’s theatre Alejandro Zelayaran, though. “I will not visit children who do not respect their mother and father, who have not taken care of themselves during COVID and who have pulled practical jokes on their teachers during virtual classes,” he said. Zelayaran, who will don a face shield when he distributes dolls and other gifts at an orphanage in Mexico City, also emphasises the importance of family. “Faith and hope must move the hearts of humanity,” said the 43-year-old. “I want to see families taking care of each other and knowing that even from afar, love and hope always survive.” Limachem Cherem, 64, who runs a school for Santas in Rio de Janeiro, will be spending more time in a studio this month, raising children’ spirits with recorded messages and live video chats. He, too, encourages people reach out to each other. “Get on the phone, send messages, it doesn’t cost much with the internet,” said the jovial man with a big beard. “Since we can’t hug in person, send a message of peace to a friend. He needs it, while he is at home.”
  16. Contradicting his secretary of state and other top officials, President Donald Trump on Saturday suggested without evidence that China — not Russia — may be behind the cyberattack against the United States and tried to minimize its impact. In his first comments on the breach, Trump scoffed at the focus on the Kremlin and downplayed the intrusions, which the nation’s cybersecurity agency has warned posed a “grave” risk to government and private networks. “The Cyber Hack is far greater in the Fake News Media than in actuality. I have been fully briefed and everything is well under control,” Trump tweeted. He also claimed the media are “petrified” of “discussing the possibility that it may be China (it may!)." There is no evidence to suggest that is the case. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said late Friday that Russia was “pretty clearly” behind the cyberattack against the United States. “This was a very significant effort and I think it’s the case that now we can say pretty clearly that it was the Russians that engaged in this activity,” he said in the interview with radio talk show host Mark Levin. Officials at the White House had been prepared to put out a statement Friday afternoon that accused Russia of being “the main actor” in the hack, but were told at the last minute to stand down, according to one U.S. official familiar with the conversations who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss private deliberations. It is not clear whether Pompeo got that message before his interview, but officials are now scrambling to figure out how to square the disparate accounts. The White House did not immediately respond to questions about the statement or the basis of Trump's claims. Throughout his presidency, Trump has refused to blame Russia for well-documented hostilities, including its interference in the 2016 election to help him get elected. He blamed his predecessor, Barack Obama, for Russia’s annexation of Crimea, has endorsed allowing Russia to return to the G-7 group of nations and has never taken the country to task for allegedly putting bounties on U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan. Pompeo in the interview said the government was still “unpacking” the cyberattack and some of it would likely remain classified. “But suffice it to say there was a significant effort to use a piece of third-party software to essentially embed code inside of U.S. government systems and it now appears systems of private companies and companies and governments across the world as well," he said. Though Pompeo was the first Trump administration official to publicly blame Russia for the attacks, cybersecurity experts and other U.S. officials have been clear over the past week that the operation appears to be the work of Russia. There has been no credible suggestion that any other country — including China — is responsible. Democrats in Congress who have received classified briefings have also affirmed publicly that Russia, which in 2014 hacked the State Department and interfered through hacking in the 2016 presidential election, was behind it. It’s not clear exactly what the hackers were seeking, but experts say it could include nuclear secrets, blueprints for advanced weaponry, COVID-19 vaccine-related research and information for dossiers on government and industry leaders. Russia has said it had “nothing to do” with the hacking. While Trump downplayed the impact of the hacks, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has said it compromised federal agencies as well as “critical infrastructure." Homeland Security, the agency’s parent department, defines such infrastructure as any “vital” assets to the U.S. or its economy, a broad category that could include power plants and financial institutions. One U.S. official, speaking Thursday on condition of anonymity to discuss a matter that is under investigation, described the hack as severe and extremely damaging. “This is looking like it’s the worst hacking case in the history of America,” the official said. “They got into everything.” Trump had been silent on the attacks before Saturday. Deputy White House press secretary Brian Morgenstern on Friday declined to discuss the matter, but told reporters that national security adviser Robert O’Brien had sometimes been leading multiple daily meetings with the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and the intelligence agencies, looking for ways to mitigate the hack. “Rest assured we have the best and brightest working hard on it each and every single day,” he said. The Democratic leaders of four House committees given classified briefings by the administration on the hack have complained that they “were left with more questions than answers.” “Administration officials were unwilling to share the full scope of the breach and identities of the victims,” they said. Pompeo, in the interview with Levin, said Russia was on the list of “folks that want to undermine our way of life, our republic, our basic democratic principles. ... You see the news of the day with respect to their efforts in the cyberspace. We’ve seen this for an awfully long time, using asymmetric capabilities to try and put themselves in a place where they can impose costs on the United States.” What makes this hacking campaign so extraordinary is its scale: 18,000 organizations were infected from March to June by malicious code that piggybacked on po[CENSORED]r network-management software from an Austin, Texas, company called SolarWinds. It’s going to take months to kick elite hackers out of the U.S. government networks they have been quietly rifling through since as far back as March. Experts say there simply are not enough skilled threat-hunting teams to duly identify all the government and private-sector systems that may have been hacked. FireEye, the cybersecurity company that discovered the intrusion into U.S. agencies and was among the victims, has already tallied dozens of casualties. It's racing to identify more. Many federal workers — and others in the private sector — must presume that unclassified networks are teeming with spies. Agencies will be more inclined to conduct sensitive government business on Signal, WhatsApp and other encrypted smartphone apps. If the hackers are indeed from Russia’s SVR foreign intelligence agency, as experts believe, their resistance may be tenacious. The only way to be sure a network is clean is “to burn it down to the ground and rebuild it,” said Bruce Schneier, a prominent security expert and Harvard fellow. Florida became the first state to acknowledge falling victim to a SolarWinds hack. Officials told the Associated Press that hackers apparently infiltrated the state's health care administration agency and others. SolarWinds’ customers include most Fortune 500 companies, and its U.S. government clients are rich with generals and spymasters.
  17. DETROIT (AP) — Honda is recalling over 1.4 million vehicles in the U.S. to repair drive shafts that can break, window switches that can overheat and a software flaw. The software recall includes 737,000 Accords from 2018 to 2020 and Insights from 2019 and 2020. A programming flaw in a control computer can cause the rear camera, turn signals and windshield wipers to malfunction. Owners will be notified in late January about when they should take their vehicles to a dealer for repairs. Two drive shaft recalls cover 430,000 Honda Civic Hybrids from 2012, the 2007 through 2014 Honda Fit, the 2013 through 2015 Acura ILX and the 2013 through 2015 Honda Accord. They’re in 22 states where salt is used to clear roads in the winter. The drive shafts can break due to corrosion. Dealers will inspect the left and right drive shafts and replace them if needed. Parts aren’t available yet. Owners will get an initial notification in February and will be told later when to go to a dealer. About 268,000 CR-Vs from 2002 through 2006 are included in the power window switch recall. Water can get into an open driver’s window and cause an electrical short, possibly touching off a fire. It’s the second recall for the same issue. The cars were recalled starting in October of 2012, but the repairs didn’t work. Honda says it has reports of 16 fires but no injuries. Honda says owners should take the SUVs in for repairs as soon as they get a recall notice. Those will be mailed starting in late January. Owners can also check https://owners.honda.com/service-maintenance/recalls or call (888) 234-2138 to see if their CR-V is affected.

  19. We're so used to hearing about the best-selling and highest-rated games, so how about we mix it up a bit with the worst game of 2020. That title, according to Metacritic, goes to the July Switch eShop release, Tiny Racer. This "adorable little racing game" that draws inspiration from series like Micro Machines has a critic score of 29 out of 100 (at the time of writing). Other Switch games joining it on this bottom ten list include Arc of Alchemist in fifth place, Gleamlight in ninth place and Bethesda's Switch adaptation of the mobile title, The Elder Scrolls: Blades (thanks for the shoutout, Metacritic). The remake of XIII (on its way to the Switch next year) was noticeably in second place. Tiny Racer (Switch) XIII Remake (Xbox One) Dawn of Fear (PlayStation 4) Fast and Furious Crossroads (PC) Arc of Alchemist (Switch) Remothered: Broken Porcelain (PC) Tamarin (PlayStation 4) Street Power Soccer (PlayStation 4) Gleamlight (Switch) The Elder Scrolls: Blades (Switch) Note: Above are the lowest-scoring games released for any platform between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020. Games are ranked by Metascore (as of December 15, 2020) prior to rounding, and any titles with fewer than 7 reviews from professional critics are excluded. If a single title would have landed on the list multiple times due to low scores on more than one platform, we only included the lowest-scoring version. Did you play any of these games on this list? What would you say was the worst game you played this year? Tell us below.
