  2. Gigabyte is the latest manufacturer to confirm NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 20 GB and GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB graphics cards. Their upcoming custom variants within the AORUS, Vision, Eagle, Turbo, and Gaming family have been spotted by Videocardz over at EEC and it looks like we are just a few weeks away from the official unveiling. Gigabyte Also Lists GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 20 GB & GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB Custom Graphics Cards As per the listing, Gigabyte is preparing a total of 12 GeForce RTX 3080 Ti custom models which will range from triple-cooling to water-cooling and even blower-styled design. The GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB graphics card will be getting at least 5 variants that have been listed, all of which are non-Aorus designs so there are bound to be more than five custom models for the graphics card. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Mobility GPU Specifications & Benchmark Leak Out, GA104 With 5120 Cores, 8 GB GDDR6 Memory & 17% Slower Than Desktop RTX 3070 Following are all the custom models that you can expect for the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 20 GB & RTX 3060 12 GB graphics cards from Gigabyte as reported by Videocardz: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 'Rumored' Graphics Card Specifications Details from Kopite7kimi suggest that the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FE (Founders Edition) graphics card will feature the PG133-SKU15 PCB design and the GA102-250-KD-A1 graphics core. The GA102-250 GPU has also changed since the last time we saw them and is now exactly the same as the GeForce RTX 3090 at 10496 FP32 CUDA cores. As for memory, the card will feature 20 GB of GDDR6X memory. Unlike the 19.5 Gbps speeds of the RTX 3090, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is said to retain the same memory speeds as the RTX 3080 at 19 Gbps. Since we are getting a 20 GB bus interface, NVIDIA will be using a 320-bit bus interface which equals a total bandwidth of 760 GB/s. TGP for the card is set to be the same as the RTX 3080 at 320 Watts. That's definitely needed to feed the extra cores so NVIDIA might have to optimize the clocks a bit here. NVIDIA could undercut the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT which is a $999 US graphics card with the RTX 3080 Ti though we have to see just how much of a difference the Ti variant makes as it will end up being sandwiched between the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090. There are reports that the RTX 3080 Ti may end up faster than the RTX 3090 due to its higher clock speeds while the RTX 3090 could remain a Titan class product serving the enthusiast and content creation market with its higher VRAM buffer. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 'Rumored' Graphics Card Specifications The GeForce RTX 3060 is suggested to feature the GA106-400 GPU which is expected to feature 3840 FP32 cores in a total of 30 SM units. The graphics card will make use of the PG190 SKU by board partners which are both GA104 and GA106 pin-compatible. The graphics card has seen a range of memory specs update starting with 6 GB (14 Gbps) and now listed at 12 GB (16 Gbps). It is rumored that the card will feature a massive 12 GB memory buffer which is larger than that of the RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070, and even the RTX 3080. This is not confirmed yet but the reason could be that NVIDIA wants to really tackle AMD in the mainstream segment. Again, we saw rumors of 20 GB and 16 GB for the RTX 3080 & RTX 3070 too which didn't end up being true as they were early designs that were later on canceled. The card will feature a 192-bit bus interface and at 16 Gbps, delivering bandwidth of up to 384 GB/s. The GeForce RTX 3060 could end up being priced at $299 US which will make it a formidable graphics card.

  4. New Delhi: Mahindra has done it again. After shying away from half a dozen joint ventures, it has broken the latest one with Ford Motor of the US to avoid too much pressure on the scarce resources and focus on its core strength of SUVs. The bigger question arises on the Mahindra & Mahindra’s (M&M) abilities to carry forward its joint-ventures and manage the partners. In fact, Ford partnered with M&M in 1996-97 to launch its Escort sedan that bombed in the Indian market. While the venture was called off soon after, Mahindra has inked over half a dozen alliances since then, and most of them have failed to take off successfully. Pawan Goenka, managing director of M&M, and a former SIAM president, who is very much respected in the industry, said that the company has been able to utilise these alliances to its benefit and has grown as a versatile automobile entity. In a media interaction on January 1, he addressed wide ranging issues from its beleaguered South Korean subsidiary Ssangyong Motors to not fulfilling its Ford commitment. “We are looking at the wider perspective of conserving our resources and right decisions. This has been induced by the challenge of the pandemic, and it’s prudent to take the steps for long-term benefits.” He said that Mahindra is facing an incumbent bankruptcy proceeding with Ssangyong. It is in discussions with a potential investor and hopes to close the term sheet by next week. “We have debt obligations of Mahindra Ssangyong Motor Company that could not be met, but we are close to working out a term sheet by next week,” he said. The Korean company is now being run by its own management and has till February 28, 2021, to conclude a deal with the new investor. It will have to go into receivership if the deal falls through. Read Also: Mahindra-Ford JV plans called off on changing global economic conditions Even when an investor comes ashore, Mahindra would dilute its stake to less than 30% and render majority control to the (new) investor and take a backseat in the Korean subsidiary. In the same press meet Anish Shah, DMD & Group CFO of M&M, said that Ssangyong carries INR 980 crore equity liability and other inclusive liabilities of INR 950 crore in terms of debt, including INR 680 crore outstanding loans. M&M may concentrate on its core business of SUVs. This may turn out to be a bigger challenge given the aggressive stance Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai-Kia have taken to grab major chunks of the SUV market for them.- Coming back to Ford, a ‘Definitive Agreement’ was signed in October 2019 to develop synergies of the Indian and American entities. By the midnight of December 31, it has come to an end as the partners have allowed to expire the business transfer agreement. Mahindra and Ford worked on the JV for almost two years. Going forward, they will move on with their businesses separately. Besides, the five major projects to tap the export potential of the JV would largely remain unutilised. This means that M&M will concentrate on its core business of SUVs. This may turn out to be a bigger challenge given the aggressive stance Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai-Kia have taken to grab a major chunk of the SUV market for them. Mahindra’s executive director for auto and farm Rajesh Jejurikar wants to focus on the genre SUV brand and try to consolidate it. “We have got another 6,500 bookings for Thar in December, and over 50% of these are for automatic. This shows our ability to develop a new market and customers beyond the conventional SUV segment,” he said. Read Also: M&M in talks with an investor for majority stake sale in Ssangyong, looks for buyers Mahindra may be looking at creating some new categories of products and fresh brands mainly in the lucrative EV space, and at high-quality SUVs to carry forward its lineage with a strong domestic strategy. While some of the Mahindra-Ford JV employees will be going back to their respective parent companies, the future of Mahindra as an effective partner and ally has come under a shadow. It seems that Mahindra may lacks the ability to make good joint-ventures and make them happen rather than pinning them on lame excuses. It seems that Mahindra lacks the DNA to successfully manage joint-venture entities as it had almost a new one every alternative year, but without any huge success. Besides the two JVs of Mahindra with Ford, it had allied with the French carmaker Renault (with Logan sedan), with Navistar for commercial vehicles, bought Kinetic to enter the two-wheeler space, and acquired Korean Ssangyong Motors. Most of these, including the Classic Legends which retails Jawa bikes, couldn’t be termed successful. Mahindra may be looking at creating some new categories of products and fresh brands mainly in the lucrative EV space, and at high-quality SUVs to carry forward its lineage with a strong domestic strategy.- “We have spoken in the past, and the new situation is very unique, because of the pandemic and has been re-defined. For us, it is where to put our money and the key resources. The auto business has undergone a sea-change in terms of shifting of money, and a call had to be taken on the way our JVs not necessarily be of 100% in the past, and we got several benefits from the earlier ventures,” Pawan Goenka clarified. Mahindra does enjoy a supreme position in the domestic pickup segment where it is way ahead of its rivals. The JVs would have helped in the development and upgradation of is highly successful Scorpio SUV. Meanwhile, the company entered into the sedan space with some help from Renault, and the highly competitive commercial vehicle business with Navistar. If it can crack the strategy to strengthen its core and put the right focus and resources on its core strength, Mahindra can be in the top three position of the Indian automobile industry, a position it held a few years ago.

  6. Toronto hospitals welcomed the first babies of 2021 early Friday morning, with the very first child coming into the world just 48 seconds after the clock struck midnight. Baby Thomas is believed to have been Toronto’s first baby of 2021 and spent most of New Year’s Day morning sleeping, according to his parents. Humber River Hospital shared news of the birth on Twitter, saying Thomas was born at 12:00:48 a.m., and weighed about 6.8 pounds. “Congratulations to the whole family on the arrival of their bundle of joy,” the hospital said. “Everyone is healthy and extremely happy.” Parents Thuy Vu and Patrick Simmons told CP24 that Thomas’ birth has been the highlight of all their collective New Years. “Very memorable,” Simmons said. “We’re both tired and he’s tired too.” It was close competition for the title of first GTA baby born in 2021. The runner up, Abygail Gosselin, was just 11 seconds away. “Originally due on December 28, Abygail decided to make her entrance at 12:00:59 a.m. on Jan 1, 2021,” Markham Stouffville Hospital said on social media. North York General said that their first baby of the year was Kiaan Arora, born at 12:13 a.m., while Mount Sinai welcomed their first bundle of joy five minutes later. Trillium Health Partners, a hospital system that serves certain areas of the GTA, said their first baby arrived at 12:19 a.m., weighing about 9.5 pounds. “We weren’t expecting to have the first baby of the New Year,” mother Nota Flokiotis said of her newborn Jacob. “We didn’t even know the gender, so it has been one wonderful surprise after another. We are grateful and excited to start a new chapter.” 'Very memorable': Toronto hospitals welcome first babies of 2021 GTA hospitals welcome first babies of 2021 Parents Thuy Vu and Patrick Simmons told CP24 that Thomas’ birth has been the highlight of all their collective New Years. 7. Microsoft said Thursday in a blog pos t that hackers tied to a massive intrusion of dozens of U.S. government agencies and private companies sneaked further into its systems than previously thought, although the intrusion doesn’t appear to have caused any additional harm. The company said the hackers were able to view some of the code underlying Microsoft software, but weren’t able to make any changes to it. Microsoft played down any risk associated with the additional intrusion, noting that its software development relies on code sharing within the company, a practice called “inner source.” Likewise, Microsoft said it doesn’t rely on keeping program code secret as a security measure and instead assumes that adversaries have seen its code and uses other defensive measures to frustrate attacks. The company said it found no evidence of hacker access to customer data and no indication that its systems were used to attack others. The hack began as early as March when malicious code was snuck into updates to SolarWinds software that monitors computer networks. Microsoft helped respond to the breach with cybersecurity firm FireEye, which discovered the hack when the security firm itself was targeted. Cybersecurity experts and U.S. officials suspect Russia was behind the hack. Microsoft said earlier this month that it identified more than 40 government agencies, think tanks, nongovernmental organizations and IT companies infiltrated by the hackers. Russia has denied that it is to blame.
  8. The specifications of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3070 mobility graphics card have been confirmed within a listing over at Geekbench. The listing was spotted by TUM_APISAK and shows the next-gen RTX 30 series mobility GPU running in the OpenCL test suite. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Mobility GPU To Feature GA104 GPU With 5120 Cores, 8 GB Memory & 1300 MHz Clock in Max-Q Variant, On Par With An RTX 2080 SUPER Just a few days ago, we got to see the first listings for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series mobility lineup along with some preliminary specifications. It seems like those specifications might end up being true since they match the ones from today's leak. Also, based on the clock speeds alone, we can tell that this is the Max-Q variant of the GeForce RTX 3070 instead of the Max-P variant which would offer much higher clock speeds. So coming to the specifications, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Mobility will feature 40 SMs on the GA104 GPU SKU (presumably, the GA104-770). This chip would feature a total of 5120 cores and a maximum clock speed of up to 1300 MHz (~1290 MHz). The graphics card also features 8 GB VRAM which runs across a 256-bit wide bus interface but it remains to be seen if NVIDIA is utilizing 12 or 14 Gbps DRAM modules for its mobility lineup. In the case of 14 Gbps, the GPU will be able to offer a maximum bandwidth of 448 GB/s. Preliminary specifications coming in from NotebookCheck also seem to indicate that the Max-Q variant will feature a TGP between 80-90W while the faster Max-P variant will feature a TGP of 115-150W. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Mobility was tested on an HP Omen 15 laptop which also had the Intel Core i7-10870H and 16 GB of DDR4 memory installed. In terms of performance, the GPU scored 110839 points in the OpenCL test. The score puts the GeForce RTX 3070 mobility on par with the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER but at the same time, it is slower than the desktop GeForce RTX 3070 by 17% which should be expected since the variant does not only offer lower cores but also comes with much lower clocks being a Max-Q design. It looks like the Max-P variant should close the gap and bring the performance difference below 10 percent but that remains to be seen. Laptop makers will also be offering high-end and enthusiast configurations of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Ampere GPUs with AMD's Ryzen 5000H 'Cezanne-H' CPUs and Intel's Tiger Lake-H 11th Gen CPU lineup at CES 2021.
  9. In case you missed the news yesterday, Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus lineup for January 2021. In addition to PS4 games Greedfall and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, PS5 owners can look forward to Maneater, a nautical open world action title about being a big bloody shark. That's good news on its own, but those who recently bought the ferocious fish simulator might feel a little short-changed. As it so happens, it appears Sony is refunding those who purchased Maneater on PS5 in light of its PS Plus status. Reddit user BraeWhyit shared a message they received on their console, which states they will be getting their money back as PS Store credit and can keep the game in their PS5 library. BraeWhyit notes they're in the US, and that the money hasn't been returned just yet, but refunds do normally take a few days to process. We received word from another person who's had this same experience, so it all sounds legit to us. The only question now is what the cut-off point is. Sony probably isn't going to refund every single copy of Maneater purchased for PS5 — maybe those who bought it within the last month will be contacted, for example. In any case, it's a nice gesture; a common complaint about PS Plus is those who've recently forked out for a game only for it to be put on the subscription service days later. Have you received this message from Sony about a Maneater refund? Have you bought the game recently and not had a refund offer? Tell us in the comments section below.

Sometime in 2021, probably for many more than a year after pandemic restrictions began in the United States, most American workers and students will return to campuses, offices and other workplaces. Left behind will pets who have become accustomed to humans staying home with them. Some tips on how to prepare them and signs of distress to watch for, from Candace Croney. The Purdue University professor has studied and taught about animal behavior for some two decades and consults with many veterinarians and others who work with household animals. Start practicing to give them a routine and sense of predictability, taking small steps incrementally. —Provide them with toys and treats to focus on while you work in a different room. —Take walks without them; don't take them on every car ride. —Even if the weather isn't good for driving, pull your car out of the garage and sit for awhile. —If you don't drive, find another venue to create space. —If you feel your pets will find it hard to adjust, consult your veterinarian to make a plan. ——— SIGNS FOR CONCERN AFTER RETURN TO WORKPLACE —Changes in eating or drinking habits. —For cats, common signs of distress are inappropriate urination or defecation outside the litter box. —For dogs, excessive whining and barking, leaving treats untouched, changes in toileting habits. —Destructive behavior. —Acting abnormally frantic when you return home. ——— WHAT TO DO IF YOU SEE PETS NOT ADJUSTING —Call your veterinarian before things get worse. —Use baby-type monitors to check on your pets remotely. —Have a friend or paid dog-walker stop by. —Leave on soft music playing or TV talk shows (not the kind where they yell at each other). 12. NEW YORK — Five female anchors will no longer work at a New York news channel as part of the settlement of an age and gender discrimination lawsuit alleging they were passed over in favor of younger talent, according to statements from the women, their lawyers and the channel. The women who sued in Manhattan federal court in June 2019 include Roma Torre, a Montclair, New Jersey, resident in her early 60s who was NY1′s first on-air hire when it began its programs in 1992. The settlement of the lawsuit was announced by the women, their lawyers and by NY1. Its terms were not disclosed. It came a month after a judge allowed some age and gender discrimination claims to proceed but rejected some hostile work environment and retaliation claims. In their lawsuit, the women, all over age 40, alleged that they were marginalized and cast aside to make room for younger women and men after Charter Communications, a Stamford, Connecticut-based company, took over the local news channel in 2016. The lawsuit had sought unspecified damages and a return to the positions the women occupied before Charter took control. According to the lawsuit, the women found their on-air time dramatically reduced, anchoring opportunities decreased, prime reporting opportunities taken away and promotional efforts mostly eliminated. “We are pleased to announce we have reached a confidential resolution of the lawsuit filed by Roma Torre, Kristen Shaughnessy, Jeanine Ramirez, Vivian Lee and Amanda Farinacci and as a result, have mutually agreed to part ways,” NY1 said in its statement. “We want to thank them for their years of dedicated service in reporting the news for New Yorkers and we wish them well in their future endeavors,” it added. In a statement, the women said they were pleased to reach the settlement “after engaging in a lengthy dialogue with NY1.” “We believe it is in everyone’s interest – ours, NY1’s and our viewers – that this litigation be resolved and we have mutually agreed to part ways,” the statement said. “We want to thank everyone who has supported us through these times – please know that the support from each and every person has made a real difference.” Their attorneys, Douglas Wigdor and David Gottlieb, thanked their clients’ viewers who “tuned in to watch them fairly and accurately report the news for so many years.”

Rood is stoppen!
  15. As members of the Citrus Watercolor Society (CWS), many of us participate in art shows where our works are purchased by art lovers and collectors. Have you ever wondered where these painting end up? I have, and I find it quite interesting. Here are some of which I am aware. I received a call from my brother regarding a couple in Rhode Island who were interested in one of my paintings. They wanted to know if the painting I had completed of manatees was available. I responded to their call and learned that they had seen a photo of the artwork and that they wanted to purchase the original painting. I had already posted a price on the painting, which they accepted. In addition, they agreed to pay the shipping cost to their location. So, it was off to one of the packing and shipping centers to prepare for shipping. The painting arrived in Rhode Island without any mishaps, and the purchasers were happy with the artwork. Sometime later I tried to follow up with these folks only to find that they had moved to Fort Worth, Texas — manatee painting and all! I am not a portraitist! But for some reason I decided to paint a portrait of Ralph Erickson, who was a neighbor of mine. He recently passed way. Anyone who knew Ralph would agree that he was a happy-go-lucky guy, always with a smile on his face, accompanied by some jolly conversation. Ralph was a native of South Dakota, which was heavy with Scandinavian neighbors. He always celebrated May 17, the date of his birthday and “Norwegian Independence Day.” In preparation of the painting, I took a number of photos of Ralph, but he just would not smile for any of them. I finally picked one of the photos on which I based my painting and completed it. He did like the painting, thank goodness. It now resides with his daughter, who acts as family historian located in Denver, Colorado. I was exhibiting at a Citrus County art festival a number of years ago. Two ladies came into the booth, who I learned were sisters. One sister was from Alabama, the other from the county area. The lady from Alabama had a photo of her two sons sitting with their dog, and she wanted me to do a portrait of the group. I tried to convince her that I was not a portraitist. We went back and forth for a while and she insisted that I do the painting. I finally submitted. At any rate, I did complete the portrait and I felt that it looked rather good. I had my wife, the ultimate reviewer of my work, critique the painting and she confirmed that it was well done. I called the lady from Alabama and let her know that I was finished. She said that she would be visiting her sister locally soon and she would pick up the painting. We decided a place to meet and the date finally arrived. I exhibited the painting for review, and I knew I was in trouble right away. She did not like it! However, the sister was of a different opinion. She said, “Wow! It looks just like them”! Thank goodness for the opinions of sisters! Her opinion settled the deal, and the portrait went back to Alabama. And so, CWS artists, do you know where your artwork ends up once it has been sold? If you are able, do some research. You will be surprised. Artwork tends to travel. Members of the Citrus Watercolor Society enjoy a “Painting of the Month” competition starting in October and November, January, February, March, April. They have opportunities to show and sell their work, take workshops, and participate in monthly sketch/paint-outs, etc. For more information about meetings, or to become a member, call Marie Sloan at 352-322-0002 or Darla Goldberg, 352-341-6226, or visit www.citruswatercolorsociety.org. 16. Following an Eater tradition, we asked a group of restaurant critics, journalists, bloggers, and — as a new twist this year — a couple industry pros to weigh in on the year in food. Their answers to an annual “Year in Eater” survey will be revealed in several posts this week. Next up, the dining experts predict headlines for D.C. food news in 2021. Tim Carman, Washington Post food columnist: “Joe Biden Appoints José Andrés as National Food Czar to Rethink How America Does Disaster Relief” Jessica Sidman, Washingtonian food editor: I’m sure there will be no shortage of depressing headlines next year, so I’m going to offer a few optimistic ones (fingers crossed!): “Congress Passes Legislation to Create a Massive Grant Fund For Independent Restaurants” “DC Restaurants Fully Reopen As Covid-19 Cases Plummet” “The President Actually Visited a Restaurant” Simone Jacobson, co-owner of Thamee: “Mutual Aid is D.C.’s Plat du Jour” Anela Malik, Feed the Malik blogger: “Well-Known D.C. Restaurant Announces New Training Program After Allegations of Discrimination and Harassment” Raman Santra, Barred in DC blogger: “D.C. Restaurants and Bars Fully Opened 2 Months Ago. So Why Was There a Staggering Wave of Closures Last week?” “D.C. Officials Announce Pilot Entertainment/Open Container District Downtown to Revitalize Struggling Area” Ann Limpert, Washingtonian food editor and critic: “Sourdough Syndrome — Caused by the Ingestion of a Bread That Triggers Pandemic-Related Flashbacks — Is Entered Into the DSM” Lenore Adkins, freelance food writer: I’m hoping some of the places that temporarily closed, such as Dio Wine Bar, Suns Cinema, and Bar Elena, reopen in 2021. Here are a couple of headlines for my other predictions: “D.C. Restaurant Workers Prepare for Shots of Virus Vaccine” “Masks No Longer Required in D.C. Restaurants After America Crushes COVID-19” Tom Sietsema, Washington Post food critic: “WE SURVIVED” followed by “WE’RE NEW AND IMPROVED!” Takera Gholson, Flights and Foods blogger: “The City Gives All Restaurants Grants for Street Dining” Paola Velez, executive pastry chef for Maydan, Compass Rose, and La Bodega: I think D.C. as a town has banded together to support the local business that got their start here. A lot of out-of-town businesses are looking at the market in D.C. to open up shop here. But the DMV residents have been supporting their own this round. Our regulars keep us afloat during this challenging time. Headline: “DC RESTAURANTS FEEL THE LOVE in 2021” Gabe Hiatt, Eater D.C. editor: “Minibar Launches Sandwich Pop-Up With Bite-Size Bologna Foam Bocadillos” “Local Food Editor Cries Hysterically, Hugs Servers During First Indoor Meal in 18 Months” “Virus-Free Fall Brings Packed Houses, Record Revenues for Resurgent Restaurants” More from the Year in Eater
  17. LG’s screen-swiveling Wing was one of the most interesting looking smartphones of 2020, but its unique design was held back by poor software support. A new software update, out today for the Verizon-exclusive device, looks to help address those issues by adding some new dual-screen functionality. Specifically, Droid Life reports that the new update makes it much easier to send apps to and from the smaller display to the main one (a process that previously involved some convoluted menu wrangling.) With the new update, there’s now a “send” button that shuttle apps from one display to the other, along with a “restart” button to relaunch apps that transition over poorly. You can also use a third-finger gesture to accomplish a similar task. Finally, LG has added app names to the homescreen when the phone is swiveled open, making it better resemble the standard Android homescreen. LG has also fixed one of the biggest pet peeves about the second display, adding media controls for all apps to the second display when watching (instead of just a handful of select apps, like YouTube.) Now, apps like Netflix will offer similar functionality. There’s also a few other additional features in the update, including the ability to automatically scan QR codes in the camera app, a new wallpaper, a matching 5G icon, and a November security patch. If you own an LG Wing, you’ll be able to install the update now by checking for a software update in the settings app.
  18. Akasa has announced the Turing QLX fanless case, which like the Turing A50 case, is designed with a specific single-board computer. While the Turing A50 case is designed for the ASUS PN50, the Turing QLX case is designed for the Intel NUC 9 Pro single board computer. Akasa has yet to announce any pricing information for the Turing QLX case, but they have created a product page showcasing its features. Akasa's Turing QLX case is a passive case for the Intel NUC 9 Pro, featuring support for the Intel Core i9 NUC device The Turing QLX case features a fanless design, which can cool not only the Intel NUC 9 Pro but also a low powered fanless GPU. This design includes symmetrical extruded fins on a single side of the case, and this side is connected to the CPU through the copper heat pipes. This unique design can cool up to a 45-watt processor, supporting many Intel NUC 9 Pro computers. This case measures 212 mm x 150 mm x 220 mm. This case can support BXNUC9i9QNB, BXNUC9i7QNB, BXNUC9i5QNB, BKNUC9VXQNB, and BKNUC9V7QNB. This case features two slots, and these two slots are ideal for a low powered and fanless graphics card to be easily installed into the NUC 9 Pro computer. These NUCs can have a large range of processors installed, ranging from the Intel Core i5-9300H up to an Intel Core i9-9980HK processor. The BKNUC9VXQNB is the only Intel NUC 9 Pro to feature an Intel Xeon E-2286M processor, which features eight cores and sixteen threads with a max turbo frequency of 5.00 GHz. The Turing QLX case is perfect for various applications, and these applications include Machine Vision, Intelligent Surveillance, and even Factory Automation. This wide array of applications allows this fanless case to be a perfect addition to nearly any industrial application, and since this case features no fans, there will be significantly less dust when compared to other cases for the Intel NUC 9 Pro. This case's assembly is straightforward, having just four main outer panels and a few internal components that easily connect to the installed Intel NUC 9 Pro computer. Akasa has yet to announce the pricing for the Turing QLX case.
  19. At the time of writing this, I’m playing Cyberpunk 2077, and besides all its other issues – and there are lots of them – one thing that’s bothering me is its lack of DualSense support. Obviously this is a PlayStation 4 game so I never expected it to take advantage of the PlayStation 5 pad, but here me out here: it’s hard to go back to basic functionality once you’ve experienced what Sony’s new controller can do. I’ve been noticing this for a while, to be honest. A few weeks ago I played Resident Evil 3, which was fine in of itself – but not getting any resistance from the triggers when firing Jill Valentine’s weapons was uber-disappointing, and the rumble lacked nuance. Again, it’s a PS4 game so I had no real expectations, but the point I’m trying to make is that it’s really difficult to go backwards once you’ve experienced what the DualSense can do. Take racing games, for example: I booted up Burnout Paradise on a whim recently and enjoyed buzzing around the sandbox, but racing games just don’t seem right without the triggers fighting back under your fingers. These older games lack the added dimension of feedback that PS5 affords, and while they’re still fun on their own merits, it does feel like you’ve lost one of your senses; it’s like eating Spaghetti Bolognese without being able to smell the aroma of the sauce. To be clear, this observation doesn’t just apply to backwards compatible titles; I think even a game like Sackboy: A Big Adventure, which uses some of the DualSense’s features but doesn’t go mad, feels flat compared to Astro’s Playroom. And there aren’t many first-person shooters on the PS5, but I simply couldn’t imagine playing one without the texture that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War adds. Even sports games no longer feel correct to me without resistance on the triggers to illustrate fatigue. You’ve got to give credit to Sony here: I liked the DualShock 4 a lot, but playing with it frankly feels pathetic once you’ve used a DualSense. That’s not just because of the improved ergonomics of the PS5 pad, but also because it adds so much nuance to games when implemented correctly. I can still play and enjoy PS4 games, of course, but I can’t help but feel like there’s something missing in all of them now. PS5’s controller has literally changed the game. How do you feel about playing games without proper DualSense integration now? Do you feel like something's missing since using the controller, or do you think the pad's unique features and functions are overrated? Feel things differently in the comments section below.
