With Zen 3 released, all eyes are set on AMD's next-generation CPU architecture for Ryzen and EPYC CPUs which is codenamed Zen 4. We have heard little about the next-generation core but rumors state that it is going to offer another huge IPC jump and a massive overall performance gain over existing processors. AMD Ryzen & EPYC CPUs Based on Next-Gen 5nm Zen 4 Cores Rumored To Feature Over 25% IPC Gain The latest rumor comes from ChipsandCheese whose sources have reported them that Genoa, AMD's next-generation server family, is going to be insanely fast compared to existing AMD EPYC offerings. The source also talks about Zen 3+ and Zen 5 but most of the information that has been shared is related to the Zen 4 core architecture. As per the rumored information, AMD's Zen 4 core architecture is going to offer a huge leap in IPC. Their sources report that existing Genoa engineering samples with the same number of cores and clocks as Milan CPUs are up to 29% faster. This is a huge jump even when considering the jump to Milan from Rome. The AMD Zen 4 core architecture will be fabricated on TSMC's 5nm process node and is expected to launch sometime in 2022. Zen 4 is what a lot of people are waiting for, and, if the info I have is accurate, that wait will prove to be even more worth it. It is important to note that the one common thread in all Zen 4 chatter I have heard is resounding positivity. From IPC gains over 25%, a total performance gain of 40%, and even possibly (finally) 5GHz all-core thanks to the new (full node) N5 fabrication at TSMC! Now, I can’t say what is true and what is an over-exaggeration, however I was told from a trusted source that a Genoa engineering sample (Zen 4 server chip) was 29% faster than a Milan (Zen 3) chip with the same core config at the same clocks. Factor this in with what I have heard about the possible clock gains that N5 will enable over N7 and Zen 4 sounds like it is going to be a monster of a CPU. The overall performance gain for the Genoa CPUs could very well be around 40% considering that the CPUs are going to feature more than just a core architecture upgrade. There will be increased clock speeds and also key improvements to the IMC along with support for faster DDR5 DIMMs and an improved interconnect fabric that will communicate with the several cores. The Zen 4 CPUs are stated to offer an increase in core count which was hinted by AMD's CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, in a previous interview. The 4th Gen EPYC Genoa CPUs are expected to feature up to 96 cores though we could end up with an even higher number if AMD really wants to push the boundaries in the server CPU segment. ‘Mark, Mike, and the teams have done a phenomenal job. We are as good as we are with the product today, but with our ambitious roadmaps, we are focusing on Zen 4 and Zen 5 to be extremely competitive. via Anandtech There are also details regarding Zen 3+ which will act as an intermediate solution and the first line of chips supported by the brand new AM5 platform. We know that Zen 3+ will act as a refresh of sorts and is internally known as Warhol. It is expected to be fabricated on TSMC's N7 process that is a variant of N7 but utilizes 5 layers of EUV. So while it ain't technically a new node, it will offer a range of improvements, and the source reports that we can expect nominal IPC gains of 4-7% and that alone is better than the 3% IPC gains we got with Zen+.Lastly, for Zen 5, the information is based on a less reliable source, reports ChipsandCheese. The CPUs will offer another massive IPC gain which will be 2.5-3 times the IPC of Zen 1. That looks like one huge goal to achieve but given what AMD has achieved so far with Zen, nothing seems too impossible for the red team. Again, treat this information with a grain of salt but we will keep you updated as we hear more about AMD's next-generation CPU architectures for Ryzen & EPYC CPUs.

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED has taken to Twitter and gone public with the news that it has become the victim of a cyber hack which has compromised some of the studio's "internal systems". A ransom note has been left by the party in question, but the Polish studio states it will not give in to the demands stated below. The online attack is similar to that of which Capcom is suffering from right now — one which has seen internal documents leaked online. In a tweet, CD Projekt RED said: "An unidentified actor gained unauthorized access to our internal network, collected certain data belonging to CD PROJEKT capital group, and left a ransom note the contents of which we release to the public. Although some devices in our network have been encrypted, our backups remain intact. We have already secured out IT infrastructure and begun restoring the data." The developer is still investigating the hack, but as of right now, states that the systems compromised did not contain any personal information relating to those who play games put out by CD Projekt RED. The ransom note itself can be viewed below. CD Projekt RED signs off by saying: "We have already approached the relevant authorities, including law enforcement and the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, as well as IT forensic specialists, and we will closely cooperate with them in order to fully investigate this incident."

PM Suga’s commitment to ramp up consumption could lower prices, boost investment in infrastructure Japan’s auto giants can navigate the hydrogen hype. Tokyo wants cleaner vehicles like fuel-cell models to replace gas guzzlers by the mid-2030s. It’s reminiscent of Beijing’s push into electric cars. But unlike start-ups in the People’s Republic that became hooked on handouts, $52-billion Honda and $249-billion Toyota can enjoy a smoother ride. For decades, China backed battery power to reduce smog and oil imports, encouraging hundreds of entrepreneurs to enter the market. But fluctuating policy tested start-ups. Mere months after Tesla-wannabe Nio went public, its second-quarter net loss nearly doubled as Beijing slashed subsidies, reducing grants available to buyers of its ES8 sports utility vehicle by around 80 per cent compared with the previous year. Is green hydrogen the future clean energy? Japan’s government first revved up investment into hydrogen in 2014. Still, Toyota has sold only around 11,000 hydrogen-powered “Mirai” since the model’s debut that year. It is reminiscent of China’s young electric-vehicle ventures like Li Auto, which had only delivered some 10,000 cars before listing in New York in 2020. Is the hype about green hydrogen all gas? In the fast lane Now Tokyo is putting hydrogen in the fast lane. Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga’s commitment to ramp up consumption could lower prices and increase investment into infrastructure like charging stations, reducing hassle and also running costs for drivers: fuel distribution and retail account for about 60 per cent of end-users’ outlay, according to the Hydrogen Council and McKinsey. The government also offers generous subsidies to reduce sticker prices, offsetting the high cost of the hardware. The experiment could catch investors’ imaginations much like China’s start-ups have: Nio and Li Auto are valued at around $93 billion and $27 billion respectively, though neither has turned a profit. Hydrogen technology stocks are already on a tear in North America, where shares in fuel-cell products designer Ballard and Fuelcell Energy, specialising in power plants, have risen more than 200 per cent and 1400 per cent, respectively, over 12 months. Toyota and Honda won’t offer a pure play on the theme. They continue to make traditional combustion engines, as well as electric and hybrid models. Unlike start-ups, scale allows them to spread bets on the next big thing. That leaves much to win and relatively little to lose for Japan’s automakers.

If you are planning to buy a home this year but don't want the responsibility of maintaining a large house and yard, you might want to consider a garden home. Garden homes can vary in square footage, but they are often one story and are built on much smaller lots than traditional single-family homes. These dwellings are sometimes called zero lot line homes, and they can be found in communities throughout San Antonio and the surrounding areas. Many retirees and empty nesters purchase garden homes when they're ready to downsize, but they appeal to buyers of all ages. The Crest at Elm Creek is one of San Antonio's newest garden home communities. The builder, Tirol Homes, was founded by developers Alejandro and Mayte Tolentino. The gated subdivision is on Vance Jackson Road between Wurzbach Parkway and Huebner Road. Once completed, the community will consist of 18 custom garden homes. REALTOR® David Kauffman with Keller Williams City View has been working with Tirol Homes since it broke ground on the site in 2018. Kauffman said garden homes were born out of the need for developers to use land more efficiently while at the same time fulfilling people's desire for what's referred to as a lock-and-leave lifestyle.A: There are a million definitions, but a garden home refers to a neighborhood where generally smaller homes with smaller lots are developed that meet a certain need for buyers. And that need includes a family who does not want a huge yard. They want a small lot; they generally want a little bit smaller home where they don't have nearly the yard maintenance. They likely have a homeowners' association that takes care of some of the details of living in that subdivision. A: I would say they are very common because lots of people understand that a garden home is a life simplifying effort. It's a smaller lot; it's generally a smaller home. Garden homes have been built since the '70s. They certainly don't dominate the single-family home market, but you can find garden homes in many areas of the I-10 or 281 corridors. You can find them in lots of places.

Joseph F. Clark, 82, of Drexel Hill, a former copy boy, reporter, and “My Hometown” columnist, at the Daily News, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, of prostate cancer at home. While other writers of his era were known for their big personalities and expansive writing styles, Mr. Clark is remembered by former colleagues and family as humble, loyal, and drawn to the stories of the “everyman.” “He never seemed to be trying to make himself more interesting, maybe because he was too busy paying attention to what made other people interesting, particularly the ones he was writing about,” said Ellen Gray, a longtime staffer at the Daily News and Inquirer. “From the janitor to the supermarket worker to the CEO, he made everyone feel like they were his best friend,” said his son, Matt Clark. ADVERTISEMENT A paper delivery boy for the Philadelphia Bulletin growing up in Southwest Philadelphia, Mr. Clark lucked into a job at the Daily News in 1956, and worked there until 2000 as a reporter and columnist. His column, “My Hometown,” appeared nearly every Tuesday in the Daily News in 1999 and 2000, and Mr. Clark touched on topics ranging from a nun with hatred in her heart, to the murder of a pizza delivery man, to a one-legged bowler from Lawncrest. A police reporter as a young journalist in the 1960s, he found what his colleagues said was his true voice when he became a features writer later in his career. His writing was understated, concise, and descriptive, and he wrote as much about people’s personalities as their achievements. In 2000, Mr. Clark wrote this about a local musician: “When it comes to tats, teas and orchids, master violinist Davyd Booth is second fiddle to no one. At last count, Booth had 80 tattoos, 250 varieties of teas and somewhere around 7,000 orchids. Put ‘em all together and you have one sweet-smelling, tattooed tea drinker who can play the violin with the best of them.” ADVERTISEMENT In 1998, he wrote about a 65-year-old long jumper: “Jan Birks had it all figured out. She’d set up a rake on the floor at one end of the bed, a broom at the other. Then she’d get a board, carefully place it atop the rake and broom and have … a high jump bar. The mattress would be her landing pit. Then she’d go out in the hall, run into the bedroom, push off and jump over the bar. … But there was one thing this perky grandmother didn’t count on. She misjudged the bounce.” Mr. Clark was born on July 19, 1938, and graduated from West Catholic High School in 1954. He got a job as a copy boy at the Daily News after an interview for work cleaning oil tanks fell through. He met Margie Kelly on the trolley, commented on her lipstick, and they got married and raised six children in Southwest Philadelphia and Drexel Hill over the next 56 years. She died in 2013. Mr. Clark told his family that his favorite assignments at the Daily News were about Pope Paul VI in 1977, the Eagles playing the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XV in 1981, and the closing of the Bulletin in 1982. His favorite interviews were with basketball coach Speedy Morris, and former player, broadcaster, and basketball advocate Sonny Hill. ADVERTISEMENT “I swear, if Joe Clark cut himself shaving, newspaper ink would flow from his veins,” said Ed Barkowitz, a longtime Daily News and Inquirer staff writer. At home, Mr. Clark liked to paint wooden objects with personalized designs and messages — he called them his “creations” — and give them to friends and family as gifts. A proud Irish Catholic, he went to church every day, helped organize many St. Patrick’s Day parades, delivered meals to the homebound, and revered former Eagles coach Dick Vermeil.

A large number of Indian independent software vendors (ISVs) including GOFRUGAL, Medexpert, Ameyo and Information Dynamics, among others are choosing to run their business critical applications on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to improve application performance and accelerate business growth, the company said on Monday. Other midsize independent software vendors that have moved to Oracle Cloud include Jocata, IBSFINtech, Invensoft, TecWink, QuarkCube.IO, amongst others. Oracle has two local cloud regions in the country -- in Mumbai and Hyderabad -- and promises independent software vendors "guaranteed" high performance with enterprise Service Level Agreement (SLAs) and "best-in-class" security, along with autonomous data management capabilities. "Indian ISVs are redefining the global technology landscape, helping organizations improve agility, accelerate innovation and boost productivity," Shailender Kumar, Regional Managing Director, Oracle India, said in a statement. "Many are running their cloud-based software as a service (SaaS) offerings on OCI have been able to significantly improve application performance and unlock more value for their customers." In addition to performance, another driving factor for ISVs selecting Oracle Cloud is its pricing structure. Oracle said its Cloud infrastructure received the highest satisfaction score as well as the biggest year-over-year score increase amongst all Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) providers in IDC's latest CloudPath survey1 of 935 IaaS customers. A further 86 per cent of respondents said they expect their investment in Oracle IaaS (OCI) to increase in the future. "With OCI, our customers have gained a more flexible, scalable and sustainable cloud platform, and have reported much better application performance, with 50 per cent lesser spends," said Santhana Gopalan R, CTO of GOFRUGAL Technologies, a digital-first company offering cloud and mobile ERP solutions to Retail, Restaurant and Distribution businesses. Arpit Vashishtha, Head-Cloud Infrastructure, Ameyo, which offers omni-channel contact centre capabilities to over 2000 customers globally, also said that the company has greatly benefited from Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. "We wanted to consistently delight our customers, but were facing performance challenges and pricing variations with our previous cloud provider," Vashishtha said. "With OCI, we have overcome these challenges and gained a high availability and scalable infrastructure, which further encourages us to offer new services to our customers. We have also reduced our costs significantly." --IANS gb/na (Only the headline and picture of this report may have been reworked by the Business Standard staff; the rest of the content is auto-generated from a syndicated feed.)

More mainstream AMD Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards have been spotted which include the Radeon RX 6700 and the Radeon RX 6600 XT. The graphics cards are custom variants from ASRock that were listed over at EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission) and give us a hint at the VRAM config for both models. AMD Radeon RX 6700 & Radeon RX 6600 XT Custom Models From ASRock Listed at EEC - To Feature 6 GB & 12 GB GDDR6 VRAM, Respectively The custom AMD Radeon RX 6700 and Radeon RX 6600 XT graphics cards were submitted to the EEC by ASRock. The Radeon RX 6700 XT custom models were also listed and in total, ASRock will offer at least 9 variants based on the Navi 22 GPU. There are four models each for the Radeon RX 6700 XT & Radeon RX 6600 XT while only a single model for the Radeon RX 6700 (Non-XT) is listed. The models are listed below: ASRock RX 6700 XT Phantom Gaming D OC (RX6700XT PGD 12GO) ASRock RX 6700 XT Challenger Pro OC (RX6700XT CLP 12GO) ASRock RX 6700 XT Challenger D OC (RX6700XT CLD 12GO) ASRock RX 6700 XT Challenger D (RX6700XT CLD 12G) ASRock RX 6700 Challenger D OC (RX6700 CLD 6GO) ASRock RX 6600 XT Phantom Gaming D OC (RX6600XT PGD 12GO) ASRock RX 6600 XT Challenger Pro OC (RX6600XT CLP 12GO) ASRock RX 6600 XT Challenger D OC (RX6600XT CLD 12GO) ASRock RX 6600 XT Challenger D (RX6600XT CLD 12G) As you can tell by the model names above, the Radeon RX 6700 XT and the Radeon RX 6600 XT are both going to feature a 12 GB GDDR6 memory capacity. This means that both models will feature a similar 192-bit bus interface. However, the cut-down Radeon RX 6700 (Non-XT) graphics card will be featuring just 6 GB GDDR6 VRAM capacity. This is half the memory capacity of the XT variant. It is the complete opposite of what NVIDIA is doing with its GeForce RTX 3060 series graphics card with the higher-end model shipping with 8 GB VRAM while the cut-down variant gets 12 GB VRAM. The VRAM difference is actually not big on NVIDIA's side as it is on AMD's.The AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT also getting 12 GB VRAM might be a plus point as that card will be most likely positioned against the RTX 3060 6 GB model which is expected to launch after the 12 GB variants. The ASRock lineup will include Phantom Gaming D, Challenger Pro/D custom models in both stock and factory overclocked flavors. AMD has officially stated a 1H 2021 launch date for the mainstream desktop offerings but rumors have pointed to a late Q1 2021 release date for the Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card. We are most likely to hear more about these cards in the coming months. News Sources: KOMACHI_ENSAKA , Videocardz

One of the bigger games arriving on the Nintendo Switch next month is Apex Legends by EA and Respawn Entertainment. This team-based battle royale shooter doesn't cut corners - bringing the "full-featured" experience to Nintendo's hybrid system. According to Respawn, port specialist Panic Button (Rocket League, DOOM Eternal) worked its magic on this one, achieving some "smart" optimisations. So, if it's the "full" experience, just how big will this version of the game be? The official Switch eShop page reveals you're going to need to clear up some space - with the game listed as requiring "15.2 GB" of free space. At the same time, the description further down mentions the game needs "at least" a 30 GB download. "Game requires a download of at least 30 GB via a wireless Internet connection. You may also be required to create or link a Nintendo Account. microSD card required (sold separately). Storage requirements may change, visit www.help.ea.com/apex-legends for details." The Nintendo webpage in the US also states the file size is 30 GB, but the UK page says it's 15.2 GB. Confusing, huh? So... it's one or the other. Either way, it's a fairly sizable download for the Switch. If you are in need of more space, Respawn has teamed up with Western Digital and created an Apex Legends Switch themed MicroSD card priced at $67.99. It's 128GB in size, and no different from your standard MicroSD apart from the logo. When the game does land on the Nintendo Switch, it'll support cross-platform play and kick things off with Season 8. As Switch players are joining in on this season a little late, there'll be 30 free levels of the Season 8 Battle Pass to claim and in addition to this, double XP for the first few weeks. Will you be clearing up some space on your MicroSD card for Apex Legends? Tell us down below

New Delhi: Nissan Motor has turned around successfully and is back to the centre-stage of the Indian automotive market from near oblivion. Magnite, its new compact SUV, wrought this magic. Its success has unsettled its peers and prodded them to frame new sales strategies. With over 43,000 customer bookings so far, it remains sold-out for most of 2021. Magnite’s success is similar to that of Swift, Scorpio, Creta and the Kwid. They changed the destiny of their parent entities. The products resurrected their brands and strengthened their segments, even at times creating a sub-segment that graduated into a new full-fledged segment in itself. These products brought huge volumes and swelled the automakers’ kitty. In the given scenario, Nissan’s fully-owned Indian subsidiary was almost on the verge of becoming another General Motors that had to exit the Indian market a few years ago. But Magnite has retrieved Nissan India and steered it to the growth track. Now it is reinvesting in the Indian operations by hiring another 1,000 technicians in its Chennai plant to start a third-shift to meet the surging demand and to limit the waiting period to within two-three months. What Can Drive E-Mobility in India? 11 February 2021 @ 11:30 AM To find a way to achieve maximum cost optimization, efficiency, and adequate charging facilities, ETAuto.com is bringing a panel of experts to deliberate upon how the entire EV ecosystem, along with research bodies, can leverage technological advancements “We are working 24x7 to serve the bookings at the earliest. The phenomenal response to the all-new Nissan Magnite is a testimony to the customers’ trust in Nissan brand and love for its huge value proposition. Magnite is exciting and appealing to customers of SUV, sedan and hatchback, and carries forward Nissan’s global SUV DNA,” says Rakesh Srivastava, managing director, Nissan Motor India. Magnite is in-line with the story of another brand that changed the fortune of its parent forever. It was in 2002 that Mahindra, after leaving no stone unturned to develop a new SUV, unfolded Scorpio. The rest is history. Scorpio was the first indigenous model to carry international traits; it was the highest sold SUV for Mahindra and possibly the best Indian brand to beat many of its international rivals hands down for many years. Scorpio changed Mahindra forever. Similarly, Swift catapulted Maruti Suzuki to the saddle of a premium car company and helped it shed its small carmaker image forever and redefine its product portfolio with the launch of DZire on the Swift platform. Maruti has sold over two-million Swift cars so far. Swift remains the highest-sold premium hatchback for many years. Swift changed Maruti’s destiny. From the maker of M-800, Alto, and WagonR, it was Swift, as a premium hatchback, that placed Maruti Suzuki in a different league and helped it to take on the Korean rivals like Hyundai and beat Getz-i20 combo. “Not many are aware that the response to the Swift launch was lukewarm. In a late-night meeting, Delhi dealers were unanimous in terming the model a failure and almost suggested its withdrawal. Reason - some colourful comments about its rear design. Some from my team were of a similar view. Terming it as a failure was not acceptable. Investment and reputation were at stake. Various counter arguments were given,” Jagdish Khattar, who had introduced Swift in India as the managing director of Maruti Suzuki, recalls. “On our insistence, a focused campaign in Delhi was agreed upon. I was sure that India would follow if successful in Delhi. We ensured 10,000 units of Swift were put on the road within two months in all colours minus white. Some good comments followed. Increased visibility and novelty factor lead to eventual acceptance. Good feedback, especially on the quality of ride, was received. The rest is history. The country followed Delhi,” he said. The SUV saga Creta established Hyundai in the SUV market. From a carmaker of pure hatchbacks and low-priced sedans, Creta transferred it to a premium and modern passenger vehicle player across all major segments breaching the psychological barrier of INR 10 lakh. Besides resurrecting Hyundai’s image, Creta played a bigger role in changing its fortune by doubling its average realisations to about INR9 lakh - INR 10 lakh, something unimaginable with its smaller car fleet, and dud sedans like Elantra and Sonata. Creta is the largest selling SUV in India and outnumbers its rivals and has been a trendsetter for the launch of many similar products in the SUV space. Creta, introduced in 2015 as a product to capture the aspirations of the new age customers with its futuristic design and feature-packed cabin, became an outright success. The latest avatar has further ignited the imagination of customers with its new looks and advanced connected features. Despite the price touching INR 20 lakh, a recorded 96,989 units of Creta have been sold in the domestic market. It has emerged as the highest-sold SUV in India, capturing 26% market share. “In the calendar year 2015 SUVs contributed to only 13.5% of the overall passenger vehicle sales. This number rose to about 26% in 2019 and touched an all-time high of 29% in CY2020. For us it was even more, from 9% in 2015 to 42.5% in 2020 and changed the entire business plan of Hyundai in the Indian market,” says Tarun Garg, director -- marketing and sales, Hyundai Motor India. The SUV league has also helped its sibling Kia Motors to establish in India as the fastest to scale two-lakh sales and have class leaders like Seltos, and Sonet, both SUVs. It’s their po[CENSORED]r body shape that brought laurels to Kia. Their smart designs and innovative tech solutions lured the Indian eyeballs. The SUV saga started with the Mahindra brand Scorpio embedding some strong DNA strains in the key markets. The Indian customers’ big liking for every such model has created massive waiting periods for them in 2021. The Indian geography is big and diverse with urban and rural roadscape. SUV with its power-packed performance is a natural fit for the rural terrain and city traffic. Its high seating posture is not extremely comfortable but gives a huge sense of safety in the bumper-to-bumper congested traffic or the fast highway drive. The innovation by the Indian automakers in providing multiple powertrains with both manual and automatic transmission makes SUV the largest segment with the highest growth rate year after year. As an aspirational product over hatchbacks and sedans, it has generated the need for an entry-level SUV. Nissan Magnite has been able to target and fulfil that with its aggressive value proposition, appealing to buyers of all body types. That gives a new dynamic to the Indian auto industry and takes a big slice away from hatchbacks and MPVs. Success begets upgrades Swift led to the creation of DZire and then came the Sx4 as an option to upgrade to the next level. But it was only the Swift DNA that catapulted DZire into a massive success for Maruti Suzuki. DZire became the largest-sold sedan in India and outpaced almost all other compact sub-four-metre peers. Upgrades became the norm to every successful product that pushed volumes and profits for carmakers across India. Maruti enjoyed the Swift lineage and also the large base of customers that preferred its bigger vehicles. “It’s a natural upgrade to customers looking for similar DNA products within a brand. A successful vehicle generates huge loyalty that spreads the genre further to generate incremental sales and volumes over competitors,” says Amit Kaushik, managing director, Urban Science, a US-based consultancy. In the Indian market, it’s the product that defines a brand and brings in the next level of the product line to retain customers and develop a comprehensive ecosystem for volumes and gains in the market. Product too kills brands The City sedan redefined the Honda brand in India, and that led to the creation of a premium carmaker in India. But the dismal performance of other Honda products like Brio, BR-V, Mobilio, and Jazz brought down the perception of the brand. Ultimately the market flinched, and that changed the entire narrative of its yesteryears. Nano comes as a big example of a product changing the future of its creator, Tata Motors. It defined Tata as a brand for long despite being a breakthrough product that failed to generate customer interest. It was not just Nano that bombed. The whole perception of Tata Motors changed - its trajectory went into a different direction and changed its future. Something it is trying to change desperately with better products and designs. Datsun brought down the plight of the Nissan brand and increased its woes. It created the perception of a cheap brand and frugal company. Datsun still keeps the brands under duress. Maruti Nexa is another example that faced a backlash from the failure of a weak debut, SCross. It was introduced as a breakthrough with big powertrain and fanfare but turned out to be a mistake. It damaged the image of the entire enterprise. Finally, it was the newly- developed Baleno that rescued Nexa and gave it a fresh lease of life. The Future Products bring laurels to companies and will be the guiding light of their future strategies. They cater to buyers’ needs of every segment right from compacts to hatchback to the SUVs with advanced technology and improvised quality and offer them higher value and delightful experiences.

estern Nebraska has a storied past with saddle making, but the people who continue the craft don’t always adhere to tradition — they like making saddles more than history. Three Panhandle saddlemakers spoke of their love of horses and cowboy culture as inspirations to pursue customizing Western saddles. It’s not a craft for the faint-hearted. Saddlemakers told the Star-Herald it takes between eight to 10 days to make — when pouring nearly all waking energy into it — then there’s the techniques involved. “You don’t jump into saddle making,” Alliance-based saddlemaker Joe Roberts said. “Saddle making requires pretty much everything involved in leather work: molding, casing, tooling, stamping, sewing, edging. You’ve got to be proficient in those areas, because making a saddle is that, on steroids,” he added. Roberts, who was born in Columbia City, Indiana, said he first started leather working in Cubs Scouts four decades ago. He said he was “90% self-taught” before taking a saddle-making class in Kentucky and finished his first saddle in 2017. He moved to Nebraska and set up shop, finding inspiration from other custom saddlemakers in the Panhandle. One of those men, Dennis Rose, was born and raised in Nebraska, starting in Alliance, then moving to Arthur. Growing up on a ranch, he didn’t have any family members who did leatherwork. “My parents bought me a beginner’s kit from Tandy’s when I was 10,” he said. “From then on, I was always messing around with leather.” He remembered visiting Newberry’s in Alliance, which dedicated the third floor to custom saddlemakers and bridlers from 1888 nearly into the 1950s. The 5,000 or so saddles Newberry’s made were documented in small bound journals, donated to the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center. Those journals tell more about the original owners in the area. There’s also Newberry, a 120-year old model horse made of wood and paper mâché, which stands at the entrance wearing one of the two crafted saddles the museum owns. The store continues on as Bernie’s Hardware, making it the longest running shop in Alliance. Becci Thomas, the Knight Museum’s director, said they have records for all but the first 700 saddles, since that book was never recovered, but said it’s rare to recover a saddle, since they are valued family heirlooms. “They are so revered that people keep them in families for generations,” she said. “Once in a blue moon, we’ll see one on eBay. And I usually try to contact the seller and get the number off of it to see if I can see who the original owner was.” She said world history is what changed the business Chenia Newberry first started. “The way I understand it, a lot of his saddlemakers were drafted in World War II, and a lot of them just didn’t come back,” Thomas said. “They didn’t die, but they went on to other things.” “I always liked goin’ up there, lookin’ around and trying to figure out what those guys were doing,” Rose said. He apprenticed under saddlemaker Wes Fuesner of Ogallala, and later attended the Texas State Technical Institute for saddlemaking. He built his business, Rose Saddlery, in 1978. Rose also makes saddles of a different kind, outfitting motorcycles and vending at Sturgis. He said he loves the finished project, but the work to get there is difficult. “It takes one full cow to build, and then one sheep — so a lot of time goes in it,” he said. “I think the fastest I ever built one was eight days, and they’ll go up to three or four weeks.” Then, there’s the man Roberts and Rose both said is a “master” in his own right. Bob Klinda, 84, said his love in saddle making is the leather carving, which is the technique of stamping, cutting and staining to produce three-dimensional etchings. “I enjoy the carvin’,” he said. “If I was to do one part over the other, why, carvin’ I’d probably do it firsthand.” He develops patterns for all sorts of commissions, often types of flowers or whorls. Occasionally, he receives an unusual commission, such as a Welsh woman’s request for a saddle with the Welsh dragon surrounded by intricate Celtic knot designs. Klinda started his first saddle while serving in the Armed Forces in 1959, really getting into leather work when he was about 24. “I never got it finished, but I started it,” he said, pointing to a dark saddle in the corner. Since opening up his shop in 1962, an estimated 500 saddles in nearly six decades. That doesn’t include the countless pairs of chaps, saddlebags, belts and other Western kits he’s made over the years, much of it documented in photographs at his shop. Klinda’s workshop is in a little building beside his yellow house just south of the Kimball County line. Outside in the paddock is a bay and black horse and three cows snuffling around the hay. They recently moved there from Colorado to be closer to family. Klinda, when reflecting in his shop, said he was surprised that his life was shaped by saddle making, giving him independence. “I’ve always worked for myself,” he said. “I’m not a 9 to 5 person.” He said his worst subject in school was English, so he finds it ironic he writes a column “From My Bench to Yours” for the bi-monthly magazine Leathers Crafters and Saddlers Journal. He said he spends more of his time now answering emails and calls from people across the country — and the world asking his advice on saddle making. “I talked to four people from around the country this morning,” he said, laughing a little. “I do like it, but if I get four hours in the shop doing something productive, it’s a good day.”

BELOIT—Branden Jackson grew up in Beloit and knows the community well. He is married to his wife, Tonya Jackson, and the couple have three children. Branden was an athlete during his school days and his interest in sports and more continues on with his own children and with the community. He began his working days in industry early on in his life. But the job wasn’t one he wanted long term, he said. He was encouraged to try the banking industry instead. His motivation: “I found I could help people with their needs,” he said. That was more than 17 years ago. And since then he has worked as a part-time teller, personal banker and mortgage lender. Presently, he has been the Branch Manager at Blackhawk Credit Union in Beloit for more than four years. And for years, he also has used his skills to help others by being a volunteer in several areas in the community. With a passion for working with youth, Jackson has volunteered for coaching duties for several years at the Stateline YMCA in Beloit. Laron Lofton, Youth Sports Director at the YMCA, said of Jackson: “Great guy. He has coached softball and basketball in the past.” Jackson coached multiple years of youth softball and basketball through the YMCA and he has taken over teams when they didn’t have a coach and needed one, Lofton said. “He has also been an advocate to the community about stepping up and helping out with volunteering when I am in need of coaches.” Moreover, “He coaches the right way and displays our core values at all times. The kids really learn and enjoy their time when he is coaching,” Lofton said. Another youth centered facility where Jackson continues to volunteer is the Stateline Boys & Girls Club. “I’ve been a board member off and on for several years,” he said. Jackson also went to the club as a youth and played football and baseball. Presently, he has been on the club board of directors for two years and says he appreciates the youth segment of the po[CENSORED]tion the organization serves. “Young people, they need to have resources,” he said. The Boys & Girls Club can provide resources, especially for some who don’t have them, he said. Being community minded and concerned with youth, Jackson also said he was distressed by the unrest he saw during the summer of 2020 and he decided to do something positive to encourage people to come together. It was heavy on me that we have unity,” he said. “I purchased T-shirts and sold them and gave the proceeds to the Boys & Girls Club,” he said. Mark Rand, Club CEO, remembers those T-shirts. “He put together a unity shirt with three different colors of fists on them,” Rand said. “It was an idea he had during the racial unrest events of the summer that were occurring. This was all Branden’s idea; no one asked him to do it.” The idea was for people to treat each other the way they would want to be treated, Rand said. “He sold them for the boys and girls club, he said, because he wants to provide a level playing field for all kids,” said Rand. “His mind and thoughts are on the young people and we are glad to have him on the Board of Directors.” Besides helping with fundraising efforts, Jackson also serves on the Boys & Girls Club Program Committee. “The committee reviews what we are doing and sets direction for kids we are serving,” Rand said. In other areas of the community, Jackson also has volunteered. He presently also serves on the Downtown Beloit Association Board of Directors and said he enjoys learning about what is happening in the downtown and about the projects that are coming up in the future. “It’s great to know what’s going on in the community and to share it,” Jackson said. Shauna El-Amin, DBA Executive Director, appreciates his service. “Branden has been a great addition to our board and has been very active in our business meetings. And this year he was an honorary judge at our Grand Lighted Holiday Reverse Parade,” El-Amin said.Among the other volunteer activities Jackson has undertaken over the years include participating with the Lunch and Learn program at Aldrich Intermediate School, Career Days in the School District of Beloit, Junior Achievement and the City of Beloit Appointment Review Committee.

When trouble arises, some people stay on the sidelines and gripe. That’s not the Olivia Adams approach. The 28-year-old Arlington resident noticed complaints about the user-unfriendly system for booking a COVID-19 vaccination appointment in Massachusetts, and she leapt into the fray. She had a hunch she could address some of the struggles experienced by people in the 75-year-old-and-up contingent, and the friends and relatives trying to help them. The result? Adams has developed her own website where people can find available appointments in Massachusetts, all on one page. She’s making it available for anyone to access. The site has not been approved or endorsed by the state and Adams said as of now, her site offers information on just a few locations. Adams applied her can-do spirit to this project while on maternity leave from her job as a software developer at Athenahealth — the electronic health record company that develops software for medical offices. She said she started her COVID-19 vaccination project after her mother-in-law had difficulty finding an appointment online. "So I took a peek and looked at what resources were available and realized that there was a real need to have a centralized location," Adams said. Adams worked on her project over the past three weeks, interspersed with taking care of her infant son and his two-year-old brother. She says she lucked out — the baby is a good sleeper. Get personal health and local medical research news sent to your inbox each week. Sign up now. "Basically what my website does is every five minutes it goes through some code I wrote that accesses different websites...to just kind of look and see what it's currently displaying for appointment availability. And it returns that information to my website so I can show it all together in one location." Adams said the web development was challenging, because there is "no concentrated effort on how to build these websites technically that allow them to talk to each other." At a news conference Friday afternoon, a reporter told Governor Charlie Baker about Adams' site and asked him if the state would consider implementing a similar program. Baker responded, "Send us her name, we'll talk to her." Adams said when her site went live this week, she reached out to the Massachusetts Health and Human Services department. She has not yet been contacted by the state, much less the governor. However, Adams said, she would definitely "love to collaborate."

The latest benchmarks of Intel's Core i9-11900K Rocket Lake flagship CPU have leaked over at Geekbench. The numbers show a record-breaking performance for the upcoming chip which is going to feature a brand new core architecture on an Intel Desktop platform for the first time in more than 6 years. Intel Core i9-11900K Rocket Lake Desktop CPU Decimates All of Its Rivals in Single-Threaded Benchmark Performance, 13% Faster Than AMD Ryzen 9 5950X The Intel Core i9-11900K with its multiple Cypress Cove core will bring the biggest CPU architectural upgrade in over 6 years. This is because ever since the 6th Generation Skylake CPUs, all Intel CPUs up till the 10th Generation Comet Lake CPUs have used the same identical chip architecture based on the 14nm process node. Intel Core i9-11900K Rocket Lake Desktop CPU Specifications: The Intel Core i9-11900K will be the flagship 11th Gen Rocket Lake Desktop CPU. The chip is going to feature 8 cores and 16 threads. This will result in 16 MB of L3 cache (2 MB per core) and 4 MB of L2 cache (512 KB per core). In terms of clocks, the CPU runs at base frequencies of 3.5 GHz but as for boost, the CPU will feature a maximum boost clock of 5.2 GHz (1-core) while the all-core boost frequency will be maintained at 4.8 GHz.The chip will also feature Thermal Velocity Boost which should deliver a 100 MHz jump in the max clock frequency. This should lead to a single-core boost clock of 5.3 GHz making it the first CPU to ever hit such a high frequency out of the box. However, do remember that regardless of using the Cypress Cove cores, the Core i9-11900K will feature lower cores and threads than the Intel Core i9-10900K. This is partially due to the backporting of Cypress Cove on the refined 14nm process node. The CPU is said to feature a 1st stage power limit of 125W which is standard for a flagship Intel SKU and the 2nd stage power limit or PL2 is rated at 250W.Coming to the benchmark, the CPU was tested at least three times on the same configuration that consists of a Gigabyte Z490 AORUS Master motherboard and 32 GB of DDR4-3600 MHz memory. A maximum single-threaded score of 1905 points & a multi-threaded score of 10994 points was seen during the tests. This puts the Intel Core i9-11900K Rocket Lake CPU as the fastest single-threaded chip ever created. Compared to AMD's fastest Zen 3 chip, the Ryzen 9 5950X, the Intel CPU is 13% faster. At the same time, it loses in multi-threaded tests due to a maximum of 8 cores and 16 threads whereas AMD's Ryzen 5000 family scales up to 16 cores and 32 threads which is twice as much as the Intel Rocket Lake flagship. The Intel Core i9-10900K scores an average of 1402 points in single-core and 10924 points in multi-core tests. Despite having more cores and threads, the 11900K, in fact, beats its predecessor with a slight performance advantage which is very impressive. However, we must remember that this is an overclocked result. Sure the Core i9-11900K can operate at 5.3 GHz at stock but that's only valid for a single-core. The chip here can be seen running at an all-core boost of 5.3 GHz which is 500 MHz higher than its standard all-core boost of 4.8 GHz. So the stock multi-core score would be lower but even then, not by a huge margin. But with that said, we have seen that the Rocket Lake CPU is very hard to chip to cool with the AIDA64 FPU stress test pushing it to 98C even while using a 360mm AIO liquid cooler. While this is a nice showcase for Intel, do note that the Rocket Lake CPUs won't be hitting retail till late March 2021. This puts them close to AMD's next answer which should be either in the form of an enhanced Zen 3+ 'Warhol' or a Zen 4 based next-generation Ryzen lineup. Intel also plans to get its 12th Gen 'Alder Lake' Desktop CPU lineup out by 2H 2021 or Q3 2021 which means that Rocket Lake CPUs will be replaced within 1 or 2 quarters, giving them an even shorter lifespan than Kaby Lake which was also replaced by Coffee Lake CPUs a few quarters later.

It was all going so well for Call of Duty: Warzone. With a balanced meta, users could get back to using their favourite loadouts and not have to worry so much about the DMR 14. Except now hit markers aren't displaying correctly, making firefights that bit tougher as the ones doing the shooting aren't getting any proper feedback from bullets. Everything else is working just fine — opponents can still be eliminated and will reliably go down with enough firepower — but not actually knowing if your trigger finger is doing things correctly presents a problem at long range. We've been hit with this issue ourselves on PlayStation 5 as of Saturday, and so too has the Reddit community since the game's previous patch. Users have attempted to fix the problem by reinstalling Call of Duty: Warzone to no avail. Raven Software has acknowledged the fault on Twitter, stating: "We're looking into the claims that hit markers are inconsistent following last nights update". Let's hope a fix is deployed quickly. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has been reloaded with lots of new content as part of a mid-season update. It adds the Firebase Z map for Zombies as well as the classic Express arena, which can be experienced in a 24/7 playlist at the time of writing. Double XP will also ensure you're playing into the early hours of the morning to level up as much as possible. If the lack of hit markers in Warzone has got you down, there's always something new to play in Black Ops Cold War.

ETROIT (AP) — Casting his climate policy as a jobs plan, President Joe Biden left out important context and used fuzzy math when he announced sweeping new green initiatives that he says will boost the U.S. economy with the creation of 1 million new auto jobs. That’s actually far from certain, if not unlikely. A look at Biden’s statements at his signing of executive orders last week that will replace the U.S. government’s fleet of roughly 650,000 vehicles with electric models and encourage a broader national shift to electric cars: BIDEN: “Today is ‘Climate Day’ at the White House, which means that today is ‘Jobs Day’ at the White House. ... We see these workers building new buildings, installing 500,000 new electric vehicle charging stations across the country as we modernize our highway systems to adapt to the changes that have already taken place. ... We’re going to harness the purchasing power of the federal government to buy clean, zero-emission vehicles that are made and sourced by union workers right here in America. ... This will mean 1 million new jobs in the American automobile industry. One million.” THE FACTS: There’s plenty of skepticism about this claim. At least some of those new auto-related jobs would come at the expense of current ones. Auto industry analysts don’t see how a net gain of 1 million jobs in that sector can come from Biden’s plan. One million new jobs in the auto industry is a highly ambitious goal that would mean more than doubling the number of workers now employed in motor vehicle and parts manufacturing. Many analysts and the United Auto Workers union, in fact, have warned that electric vehicle manufacturing probably will mean fewer net auto-making jobs. If more Americans drive electric vehicles, then it stands that fewer will drive gas-powered ones. And because electric vehicles generally have 30% to 40% fewer parts and are simpler to build, fewer workers will be needed to assemble them. That will require a reshuffling of jobs, as workers who once made engines, transmissions and other components for gas-powered cars have to switch to electric motors and batteries. “Because they are simpler, you’re probably going to have far fewer people working in vehicle manufacturing than you have today,” said Sam Abuelsamid, principal analyst for Guidehouse Insights. He noted that it’s far easier to automate manufacturing of battery cells and packs, which could reduce job levels even more. More than 100,000 workers are engaged in building gas-powered engines alone. Abuelsamid added that creating a million new auto jobs will be difficult in future years because U.S. new vehicle sales are projected to be flat at around pre-pandemic levels for the next decade. “If nothing changed, you’re not going to have a whole lot more employment,” he said. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment when asked for a breakdown of the 1 million new auto jobs that shows an accounting for lost jobs. Nor would a shift of jobs from one sector to another necessarily mean that workers losing their jobs could easily make the jump to green jobs in the new economy. Part of Biden’s campaign promise has been to promote economic equity, such as bringing fuller opportunity for people without college degrees. In the short run, though, those workers may be hurt the most by initial job layoffs. Kristin Dziczek, a vice president at the Center for Automotive Research, an industry think tank, said Biden’s goal isn’t well defined and will be “a heavy lift.” For example, the administration hasn’t said in what time frame the 1 million jobs would be added. The move toward electric vehicles already is happening, even though fully electric vehicles accounted for less than 2% of U.S. new vehicle sales last year. On Thursday, General Motors announced a goal of making most of its vehicles electric by 2035, the same year California plans to ban sales of new gas-powered vehicles. Currently, automakers pay workers who assemble batteries less than they pay those who manufacture vehicles. Also, much of the battery work is done by other companies that pay less than what members of the United Auto Workers union make at vehicle assembly plants.
