Building analytics software company CIM, is to create 85 new jobs in Ireland over the next three years. The organisation, which has locations in Dublin, London and Sydney, opened its European headquarters in Ireland in 2019, said on Monday that hiring was already completed in EMEA leadership roles in sales, marketing and operations. CIM chief executive David Walsh said: “Bringing the business to Ireland was always an ambition of mine and since we set up our European HQ here in 2019, we have gone from strength to strength. “Since the advent of Covid, we have experienced a significant upturn in demand from building owners and managers looking to improve their operations – particularly in the area of sustainability. “We are currently very focused on supporting clients with buildings running at reduced capacity, ensuring energy is only being consumed in the areas and at the times needed. “As the year proceeds, our clients expect to see their buildings switch back on, with staff slowly returning to offices, shopping centres and manufacturing sites. “They are coming to us, not only to benefit from economic gains of using our Peak platform, but also to drive their environmental and social targets, and to ensure buildings are prioritising health and safety as is required for their returning workforce”. Its Peak platform seeks to improve efficiency, sustainability and comfort across property portfolios.

New benchmarks of the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G 8 Core Cezanne 'Zen 3' Desktop APU have leaked out over at Chiphell Forums. The forum member who posted the benchmarks states that the said chip is still an engineering sample but can boot up DDR4 memory at some pretty high frequencies that were demonstrated here. AMD Ryzen 7 5700G 8 Core Cezanne 'Zen 3' Desktop APU To Be Just As Bonkers As Renoir When It Comes To DDR4 Memory Overclocking The AMD Ryzen 7 5700G APU tested features 8 cores and 16 threads. It is based on the 7nm Zen 3 core architecture and comes in a monolithic package compared to the chiplet design that AMD has used on its Vermeer (Ryzen 5000) lineup. Other specifications include 16 MB L3 & 4 MB L3 cache, a maximum clock speed of 4.6 GHz, and a 65W TDP. The CPU will also carry Radeon Vega graphics in an 8 compute unit configuration. A Ryzen 7 5700G ES APU was recently listed on eBay along with a few benchmarks which you can check out over here So coming right to the benchmarks, the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G 'Zen 3' Cezanne Desktop APU was tested with a couple of different DDR4 memory configurations. The test platform featured an MSI MEG B550 Unify-X motherboard which is known for its impressive memory overclocking abilities. A total of 16 GB of memory was used in a dual-channel configuration. The FCLK is stated to hit up to 2.5 GHz, as previously reported. The initial boot-up was done with a DDR4-4333 config with CL14-15-15-28 timings. It was later pushed to DDR4-5000 MHz with CL16-17-17-36 timings. Lastly, the user did a memory burn test with a DDR4-5333 (CL18-24-24-46) MHz configuration but didn't kept it running for long on the AMD platform. With a synchronized FCLK, the leaker managed to obtain an Infinity clock speed of 2367 MHz. The first test was done with a DDR4-4733 (CL14-14-14-28) memory configuration and the AIDA64 cache and memory benchmark reported some pretty good numbers with a latency as low as 44.4 ns. The slightly loose timings on the same DDR4 memory resulted in a slightly higher latency of 45.8 ns. Overall, these are some pretty impressive results for the upcoming AMD Ryzen 7 5700G Cezanne Desktop APU which are a definite improvement over the Renoir APUs. We will only get to see even better results once the retail samples start shipping out.

Will future Bethesda games still release on PlayStation platforms? We know that existing contracts for Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo will be honoured, while service-based games like The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76 will continue to be supported – but what about beyond that? It’s been a bigger ‘will they, won’t they’ than Donna and Ringo, with Microsoft giving mixed messages since announcing its acquisition of the organisation. All may finally be cleared up next month – at least, that’s according to Games Beat scribe turned industry prophet, Jeff Grubb. Speaking as part of a podcast, the crystal ball gazer hinted that the Team in Green may be planning some kind of “event” to tidy up its plans for the publisher: “I don’t know if it will be a full, Direct-style event, but they will make note about it and they will talk about [the Bethesda acquisition] extensively, explain what it means for everybody, and talk about the immediate future of both companies becoming one.” According to Grubb, this is all scheduled to unfold in “mid-March”, and is set to represent a cornerstone of Microsoft’s marketing efforts this year. It makes sense, as the Redmond giant’s $7.5 billion buyout of Bethesda is plotted to clear next month, which will give it control of the publisher and the freedom to talk more explicitly about its short-term and long-term plans.

EAR MAYO CLINIC: Heart disease runs in my family, so I try to eat a mostly Mediterranean diet and get plenty of exercise. Lately, though, I feel stuck in a rut when it comes to my cardio workout. Do you have any advice for exciting exercises to improve my cardiovascular health? ANSWER: Eating well and exercising are key elements of a heart-heathy lifestyle, but choosing the right type of exercise and logging enough time are essential, too. Cardiovascular training has many benefits, including chronic disease prevention and improved quality of life. It should be a staple of your weekly routine. Cardiovascular exercises can be a challenge, and sometimes boring, for many people. But you can add variety to your cardiovascular workouts in numerous ways. Walking is certainly easy on the joints, but a cardio workout doesn't have to be mile after mile of pounding the pavement or walking a treadmill. Switching up the type of exercise you do and the amount of time you spend doing it can dramatically improve your fitness. Getting 150 minutes of cardiovascular exercises each week is important, according to the American College of Sports Medicine. But it is important to remember that cardiovascular training is any activity that increases your heart rate for a set amount of time. So if you are a walker, consider short spurts of walking mixed with jogging and sprinting. There are many options to explore when it comes to cardio workouts. Consider what you can do in the comfort of your own home, outdoors or in the gym. Swimming, cross-country skiing, stair-climbing and jumping rope are examples of exercises that will increase your cardiovascular rate. Think of activities you can do both indoors and outdoors. For instance, cycling is a great exercise to get your heart pumping while putting minimal impact on your joints. When the weather isn't cooperating, a bike ride outside may not work, but a spin class might. Cycling has many benefits for your body, too. You'll get an amazing cardio workout that challenges your legs and core muscles with minimal stress to your joints. If your joints cannot take the impact of walking or running, cycling can decrease pain while increasing aerobic capacity. In the gym, you can try a new routine without leaving your favorite machine. Many newer fitness machines are preprogrammed with a range of cardio workouts that are designed to vary the speed, grade or resistance. They also can simulate rolling hills or large mountains, and offer high-intensity intervals. Being able to alter the effort level not only helps keep you more involved, but also increases your fitness gains. Instead of sticking to just one activity, consider adding interval training to your exercise regimen. Interval training is especially helpful if you're pressed for time, but you want a good cardiovascular workout. In as little as 20 minutes, you can put in the same amount of effort by working at a higher intensity than you normally would exert in 45 to 50 minutes at a moderate intensity. Cross-training also can reduce your risk of injury. This approach challenges and strengthens your joints and muscles that aren't necessarily used during your normal routine. Another possibility is to try multiple activities within the same workout. For example, try the "10-10-10" workout. This is where you start on one machine and perform one exercise for 10 minutes. Then you move to a second machine and perform another exercise for the next 10 minutes. And then you finish with a third machine and perform yet another exercise for the last 10 minutes. Changing machines and exercises helps the time pass quickly and makes your workout less repetitive. Regardless of what new activity you try, don't forget to set small goals and work your way up. Don't force yourself to ride a bike for an hour the first time. It's important when starting any new exercise to ease into it so you are not injured. There are many ways to add variety into your cardiovascular routine. When you try different activities, you'll find which workouts you like most and what works best for you. — Compiled by Mayo Clinic staff Editor's Note: Mayo Clinic News Network is your source for health news, advances in research and wellness tips.

When Dan O’Hara downsized to an apartment at Halcyon two years ago, he thought he wouldn’t get the chance to play in a big yard again. That all changed when he found a “perfectly green grotto” off the Big Creek Greenway by Halcyon that was “just asking to become a fairy village.” “Downsizing to an apartment took a little bit of getting used to, but [the Halcyon Fairy Village] helped a lot because I wasn’t working in the yard, but I was definitely playing out here,” O’Hara said. “I can be outside and live in an apartment and still have fun without having to mow the grass.” O’Hara said he was inspired by the fairy village on Sawnee Mountain that a Girl Scouts troop created years prior. He said he used to hike the mountain and visit the village with his daughter when she was younger. He began the project in August, finding some old tree trunks and placing them around the grotto, making platforms for fairy houses to balance on. One of the first houses was made by O’Hara’s nieces and nephew. “[My niece] said it should be sparkly to attract the fairies, and the other one of the girls said, ‘Well I’d like it pink and yellow because those are my favorite colors.’” “It needs to be camouflaged from our enemies,” O’Hara said his nephew said. “So, one side of it had a lot more camo on it and the other side is all pink … it’s a little bit worse for wear now, but it’s one of my favorite houses that we’ve had.” Over time, the Halcyon Fairy Village has grown to about 15 to 20 different houses and structures built out of rocks, sticks and other knickknacks. O’Hara said most of the time, houses and decorations appear spontaneously through the week. “I love it when I come out here [and see one I’ve] never seen … before,” O’Hara said. “That’s always really fun to see new things out here.” Some of themes people have chosen include the Gnome Depot, a community ‘shop’ where kids and visitors can take decorations from or add items for others to use. O’Hara also made garland out of twine and pinecones in the shape of Pleiades, a constellation known in mythologies as being the seven sisters or in some cases fairies. “When I heard it was the seven fairies, I knew we had to have a Pleiades,” O’Hara said. Residents Tinkerbell, Gerald the gnome and Woody, the 15-foot guardian of the village, also ‘live’ at the Halcyon Fairy Village. O’Hara said that he has heard kids talk of princesses Jasmine, Elsa and Anna visiting as well. O’Hara said he sees people from all walks of life visiting the village, not just families with young children. “I’ve seen many couples with a cup of coffee walking through here,” O’Hara said. “Just wanting to check it out and see what’s going on. I’ve also seen some elderly couples come through, and it’s always nice to see their smiles.” Because of Georgia’s unpredictable weather, some of the Halcyon Village has flooded, the worst being during the hurricanes in October 2020. So, when O’Hara finds a new tree stump, he will place it upside down so that the houses have a tall platform to stand on, above the danger from flooding. O’Hara said that he mirrored this from what he learned working previously with a charity called All Hands and Hearts that help communities after natural disasters. One of the largest stumps that O’Hara flipped upside down was “probably about 400 to 500 pounds – just enormous.” O’Hara said that it was a joint effort between him and some of the men from a Halcyon running group. It took seven men to move the stump to where he wanted it and flip upside down. He said that while he started the fairy village himself, Halcyon has since become involved and helped advertise the location so local families can it enjoy it

Two next-gen AMD Ryzen 7000 Desktop CPU & Notebook APU platforms have been rumored by the reputable leaker, Patrick Schur. According to the rumor, AMD will launch two brand new CPU and APU families close to one another as a part of its 7th Gen lineup based on future Zen cores. AMD's Next-Gen Ryzen 7000 Notebook APUs For FP8 Platform To Be Codenamed Phoenix, Ryzen 7000 'Raphael' Desktop CPUs For AM5 Now we have heard about Raphael before but Patrick goes on to mention a brand new codename. This codename is Phoenix and based on the details, it should be replacing the Rembrandt APUs & feature a host of new technologies. So let's get started with the details.AMD Ryzen 7000 'Phoenix' Notebook APUs For FP8 Platform The reason we are saying that Phoenix APUs will fall under the AMD Ryzen 7000 banner is that it comes after Rembrandt which is the successor to the Ryzen 5000 'Cezanne' APUs. If AMD doesn't skip any naming convention till Phoenix, then the lineup would most definitely fall under the Ryzen 7000 banner however it will still be considered the 6th Generation Zen APU offering since Renoir is 3rd Gen and Cezanne is 4th Gen. It is also interesting how the rumor states that the Phoenix lineup of Notebook APUs will be made for the FP8 platform. AMD's Rembrandt APUs are already rumored for the FP7 socket which means that FP7 would only last a single APU generation. It may very well be possible that AMD has since changed its plans and will bring Rembrandt on FP8 too as an intermediate solution before Phoenix APUs arrive. Talking about the core architecture, Rembrandt is going to feature an updated Zen 3 architecture along with Navi graphics. Phoenix APUs on the other hand could make use of the Zen 4 processor architecture and updated Navi graphics card. These APUs will launch around 2023 so there's still a lot of time left for us to wait and see what the actual specifications really look like. AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB ‘RDNA 2’ Graphics Card Rumored To Launch on 18th March AMD Ryzen 7000 'Raphael' Notebook APUs For AM5 Platform Lastly, we have Zen 4 which is going to replace the entire Zen 3 core lineup in 2022. We have little to no details about the Zen 4 core design or architecture at the moment but it looks like aside from EPYC Genoa, the next-generation desktop client CPUs will be the first to feature the new core tech. Codenamed Raphael, the AM5 Desktop CPU family is expected to be branded as the Ryzen 7000 series processors. Surprisingly, the roadmap also shows Navi (RDNA 3) IP in the Raphael section which may suggest that AMD could bring iGPUs to its mainstream desktop processors. They will still come in a chiplet package as opposed to an APU design. The Raphael family of Ryzen CPUs is expected to be introduced around mid of 2022. The Raphael line of AMD Ryzen 7000 Desktop CPUs will feature full compatibility on the brand new AM5 platform which will feature DDR5 and PCIe Gen 5.0 support. A recent rumor has alleged that we can expect up to a 25% IPC increase and a 40% overall performance improvement with Zen 4 based processors over Zen 3.

One thing we’ve noticed since the turn of the year is that PlayStation 5 ports are popping up out of nowhere. You’ll recall The Sinking City launching on Sony’s next-gen console in New Zealand this week – before it was even announced by developer Frogwares. Now, two Trophy lists have emerged: Mortal Shell and Hunting Simulator 2. The former, a Souls-like by Cold Symmetry, launched on the PlayStation 4 last year – and we liked it a lot. “After a steep learning curve, its combat is challenging but fascinating, and with a great sense of reward once you master it. It might be a little too similar to Dark Souls in terms of overall tone and style, but it brings enough new ideas functionally to make it stand out from the crowd,” we explained in our 8/10 review. We never covered Hunting Simulator 2, but the Nacon published first-person niche is fairly well regarded for its vibrant presentation and attention to detail. Neither game has a release date just yet, but usually when Trophy sets hit Sony’s servers, it means they’re imminent. We’ll check in with the appropriate parties and see if we can learn more.

Mazda rose three places in the annual Consumer Reports Best Automotive Brands listing this year to claim the crown. All hail Queen Zoom Zoom! The Japanese brand scored a total of 80 points in the ranking, beating out its higher-end German competitors, including BMW, which rose five spots to second place with 78 points; and last year’s victor Porsche, which tied Subaru for third place at 76 points. CR builds its report card by “looking at the Overall Score for each model, factoring in road-test performance, predicted reliability, owner satisfaction, and safety,” and then getting an average of it all. This year, the top ten includes more mid-tier automakers than usual, with half of the list being occupied by non-luxury brands. Honda is up ten spots this year to land in fifth, while Chrysler and Buick also leapt ten each to place eighth and ninth, respectively. On the other end of the spectrum, Lincoln fared the worst, plummeting 15 spots due to “subpar predicted reliability” to settle at 28th of 32. Genesis also tanked, falling 13 spots from 2nd to 15th this year. Mazda was also given the top spot in Consumer Report’s Most Reliable New Car Brands of 2020, but that placement did have a footnote that may also be coming into play here. Unlike many other brands, Mazda doesn’t currently have any electric vehicles considered in its Consumer Reports calculations, meaning it’s not taking on as many risky developmental challenges as some other brands — like Tesla, for example. That EV-only carmaker took a big hit on the rankings this year, too, falling five spots to land in the middle of the bunch at 16th, thanks in large part to owner satisfaction surveys filled out over issues like tablet malfunctions, shoddy manufacturing, and so on. Such is the cost of rapid innovation. Mazda’s strategy is basically the opposite of Tesla’s; it’s doing what it knows and doing it well. And for now at least, that works.

he Covid-19 pandemic has brought the importance of healthy living to the forefront like never before. People are more aware than ever regarding the food they consume to help them combat various known and unknown diseases and viruses present in the environment. In the meantime, a widely prevalent mentality in India is also leading to people trying out 'ghar ke nuskhe'(home remedies) that are used for curing various diseases. While there may be varied opinions about the efficacy of home remedies, experts are unanimous that home-cooked healthy meals, made in light heart-friendly oil, take precedence over the so-called fast-food or meals-on-the-go like pizza or burger that working professionals chomp down while commuting. Fear always keeps lurking in minds about mutant Covid virus or other infections being on the prowl. Therefore, it is always advisable to cook something wholesome in some gut-happy oil. Healthy-heart is important According to doctors and other health experts, keeping your gut and heart-healthy is very important and therefore one must keep in mind that high-fat oils can raise LDL (bad cholesterol) levels in the body and in turn increase the risk of heart diseases and a stroke. Needless to mention, the extra calories will definitely cause weight gain too. Among various options, olive oil again doesn't suit Indian cooking with its low smoking point. A better alternative to high-fat oils can be canola oil, heart-healthy oil suited for all types of cooking. Made from seeds of Brassica/Napus Flower, it is one of the healthiest cooking oils available which is versatile as well as affordable. It is the most suitable one for making a variety of dishes, both at home and for commercial purposes too. Odourless, neutral in taste and with a higher smoke point of 242 degree Celsius, it is indeed the right choice for Indian taste, because this oil doesn't hamper the original taste of the dish, as also for those craving for continental or any other cuisine.Canola oil, being the only oil that has the highest unsaturated (good) fat proven to reduce the LDL (bad cholesterol) and increase HDL (good fat), also reduces the risk of heart diseases. According to the US FDA-certified research, if you include just one and a half tablespoon of canola oil in your daily life, then it can cure your risk of coronary heart diseases. This oil is most helpful in treating Type-II Diabetes and is the highest consumed oil in all the developed countries such as the U.S., Canada, Japan, Mexico, and Australia. In fact, canola oil is the world's third-largest used oil. According to a study conducted by W.H.O., the lesser the ratio of omega 3 & omega 6, the better is the oil. In canola oil, this ratio is the least which is 1:2 (Omega 3 & Omega 6). Canola oil has just 7 percent saturated bad fat, which is the least among all the cooking oils. Giving credence to its usefulness, high oleic canola oil has been authorized as a qualified health claim by the US Food and Drug Administration. These two being among the most strict health regulators in the world, canola oil's credentials as a healthy oil have got a major boost and therefore its importance rises further in such unprecedented times the world is going through when people are extra cautious about what goes into their mouths. It is definitely a need of the hour, as the age-old saying goes - 'Precaution is always better than the cure'.

Last week, Paul Goulet's 10-year-old daughter quietly went to his wife with worry about her father. "It's like he's here, but he's not really here," she said. That nearly broke Goulet, the owner of Little Ray's Nature Centre, a zoo and animal rescue organization with locations in Hamilton and Ottawa Usually an eternal optimist, Goulet said the pandemic is killing his business and wearing him down. Newsletter sign-up: Get The COVID-19 Brief sent to your inbox He's cut costs where he can, but the vast majority of his costs are fixed -- the snakes, sloths and tortoises still have to eat. Gross revenue is down 94 per cent, he said, due to the forced closures and capacity limits during the pandemic, and he's taken out loans totaling more than $900,000 to help pay the bills. "I've been pushed to my absolute breaking point," Goulet said. Other zoos and aquariums across the country say they've also reached their breaking points. Jim Facette, the executive director of Canada's Accredited Zoos and Aquariums, said institutions across the country are having a hard time. "They're hanging on, but it's a struggle," Facette said. He said some of the facilities qualify for the federal wage subsidy program and have received support, but others are not eligible, including those that are owned by another level of government, like the Toronto Zoo, which is owned by the City of Toronto. "Our institutions are unique, you can't just shut the lights, lock the door and leave," Facette said. "The Number 1 thing they want though, I hear this all the time, is they want to open." Cherry Brook Zoo in Saint John, N.B., shuttered its doors last year largely due to the pandemic and the uncertainty going forward, Facette said. Zoos have an entire revenue-generating ecosystem that includes hosting corporate events, weddings and the like, he said. The Zoo de Granby in Quebec had to cancel more than 30 weddings last year. Facette has spent a lot of his time lobbying various governments during the pandemic to figure out how to keep zoos and aquariums afloat. "We need to increase capacity when they are open, so we've asked if they'd consider rapid testing as part of reopening strategies," he said. "We haven't heard back." For Dolf DeJong, the CEO of the Toronto Zoo, the last year has been a trying one. Last year, when China imposed a lockdown in Wuhan, where the novel coronavirus originated, DeJong said the zoo began stockpiling food for the animals. They were shut down for two months in the spring during the first lockdown, then were able to do drive-thru visits for about a month before members were allowed back in at a significantly reduced capacity. Then they moved to a pre-booked model from July until they reverted to drive-thrus in late November. They closed their doors again on Dec. 26 when the province issued a stay-at-home order. The zoo had about 600,000 guests last year, DeJong said, about a third of those coming from the drive-thru. Daily guests last summer peaked at 5,000 - half of what they used to see the previous summer. They've been able to raise about $1 million through their non-profit arm for a program called Zoo Food For Life, which is about enough to cover the cost of food for the facility's 5,000 animals. January and February are historically down months for the zoo, DeJong said. "Being closed right now doesn't hurt as badly as it hurt last year being closed on the Friday of March Break," DeJong said. "We are cautiously optimistic that we'll be able to host guests on the new April break, that the weather will be great, and we have Easter in there. We'd like to think we can start rallying from these early in the year losses." For Goulet, he said he has used every possible government program for help, including the wage and rent subsidy programs, which have kicked in about $240,000. But he needs about $840,000 for Little Ray's to survive to the end of this year. The company's biggest money maker, he said, are animal festivals that run from January to April. "None of those are happening," he said. Provincial restrictions have eased somewhat in Ottawa and Hamilton, so Little Ray's is now allowed to have small groups inside. They're also doing live Zoom shows now, but they only bring in about five per cent of the money the live shows at schools and birthday parties used to. "I'm happy we're open, so instead of losing $80,000 a month, we'll lose maybe $60,000," Goulet said. "It will curb our losses, but we're still losing money at massive rates." He has turned to the public for help with a GoFundMe campaign that has raised nearly $200,000 from more than 2,000 people in just over a week. His supporters also organized a bottle drive where they collected some 200,000 bottles. "We're slowly trying to turn the ash into something and that's only because we've had a ton of public support," Goulet said. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Feb. 19, 2021.

Collaboration accelerates the development of “software-defined vehicles”: Software development to be faster and easier throughout the lifetime of the vehicle. Collaboration brings together automotive and cloud computing expertise to shape the next generation of vehicle software. Bosch teams up with Microsoft to develop a software platform to seamlessly connect cars to the cloud. The goal of this collaboration is to simplify and accelerate the development and deployment of vehicle software throughout a car’s lifetime in accordance with automotive quality standards. The new platform, which will be based on Microsoft Azure and incorporate software modules from Bosch, will enable software to be developed and downloaded to the control units and vehicle computers. A further focus of the collaboration will be on the development of tools that increase efficiency in the software development process. This in turn will drive innovation and reduce development costs for vehicle software within and across organizations. For drivers, the platform will mean quicker access to new functions and digital services. The collaboration between Bosch and Microsoft combines the wealth of software, electronics, and systems expertise of the world’s leading automotive supplier with Microsoft’s know-how in software engineering and cloud computing. Both companies intend to make the new software platform available for first vehicle prototypes by the end of 2021. Dr. Markus Heyn, member of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH: “Bosch already securely updates car software over the air today. With the comprehensive platform for software-defined cars, we want to further empower automakers to develop new functions and get them on the road faster.” “Our collaboration with Bosch brings together the expertise of one of the world’s leading automotive suppliers with the power of the Microsoft cloud, AI and GitHub,” says Scott Guthrie, executive vice president, Cloud + AI, Microsoft. “With software quickly becoming a key differentiator in the automotive industry, our ambition is to help businesses accelerate the delivery of unique mobility services across passenger cars and commercial fleets at scale.” Developing the automotive future together Software will play an increasingly important role in future vehicle generations. New trends such as electromobility, automated driving, and modern mobility services would not be possible without it. This will also require more frequent updates and upgrades in the future. However, stringent safety requirements throughout the vehicle’s lifetime make wireless software updates and digital services for cars very complex. The wide range of different series and models makes things even more challenging. The collaboration will benefit from Bosch’s deep understanding of electrical and electronic architectures, control units, and vehicle computers, which is necessary for over-the-air vehicle updates. In addition, the company will contribute its expertise as well as software-based products and development tools for cars. This includes the basic software and middleware for vehicle computers and control units, as well as cloud-based software modules to bring over-the-air updates to entire vehicle fleets. “Having a comprehensive software platform from the vehicle to the cloud will reduce the complexity of the software development and the vehicle system integration. In this way we will create the conditions for wireless updates to work just as smoothly and conveniently in vehicles as they do in smartphones,” Heyn says. The pre-integrated platform will greatly reduce the complexity of over-the-air updates, which help ensure that a vehicle’s software is always up to date, thanks to the fact that the software architectures of vehicles and the cloud will now fit together seamlessly. New software services for developers Bosch and Microsoft also plan to enrich existing developer tools that will enable automakers and suppliers to simplify and accelerate their own software development, while adapting to the unique challenges in the automotive industry. The companies also plan to use GitHub’s fully integrated enterprise platform and to open-source important parts of the new software platform on GitHub.com to encourage code re-use and best practice sharing across the industry.

NVIDIA made some pretty huge announcements to counter the cryptocurrency mining boom and the subsequent supply outages that are affecting its GeForce line of graphics cards. The company not only announced a dedicated line of GPUs under the CMP (Crypto Mining Processor) banner but also revealed that for upcoming GeForce graphics cards, they will be nerfing its hash rate by a huge margin to stop miners from gouging up the stock. The company has now given more info on how all of this is going to work. NVIDIA Sheds Light on GeForce GPUs Cryptocurrency Mining Nerf, All Upcoming Gaming Cards Could Be Crippled For Miners According to NVIDIA's Bryan Del Rizzo, it looks like the cryptocurrency mining nerf is more than just a driver limit. Many people assumed this from yesterday's announcement where it was stated that the software drivers were designed to detect specific attributes of the Etereum mining algorithm, as it happens to be the most po[CENSORED]r algorithm with the highest efficiency and profit rates right now, and limits the hash rate by around 50 percent. Considering that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 is aimed at the mainstream segment and early reports showing it would offer mining performance on par with an RTX 3070 (after tuning), it was without a doubt going to be a hot seller for the mining but that would mean many gamers who were saving up to get the card at launch wouldn't be able to do so. However, with the new limit, NVIDIA could divert miners away from gaming cards and purchase their dedicated CMP lineup. So back to the drivers, BDR states that the driver is just one part of the limit. The whole process occurs through a secure handshake between the GPU, Driver, and the BIOS (Firmware). All three prevent the removal of the hash limiter. Now NVIDIA is quite confident that this would be enough to tackle miners running GeForce GPUs but at the same time, we can't be too sure about the overall effectiveness of this as VBIOS and driver mods could potentially allow miners to bypass the limit once again. n addition to all of this, there are rumors floating that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 is only the beginning. More Ampere and future GeForce Gaming graphics cards could be added to the list soon. This doesn't mean that using a new driver on an existing graphics card will limit its hash rate but a new SKU or existing graphics card with a new device-id could offer a similar limit. So to make things clear, your existing RTX 30 series card running within your PC won't be affected by this (even if you install new drivers), but say you go out a new one that has received an id or SKU update, now that could likely be limited. This means that all GPUs, whether new or those that are produced after yesterday's update need to be tested & evaluated again. This has been seen with the GeForce RTX 3060 by users who already have hands-on the card. YouTuber and retailer, CryptoLeo, demonstrates how the GeForce RTX 3060 gets crippled within a few seconds. The mining rate for the card goes from 41.5 MH/s in Ethereum to just 24 MH/s in a couple of minutes. Do note that no new drivers for the card have been released yet but this shows that there's more than just software in action so much that it can detect mining algorithms very swiftly. The user was also running a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 1080 Ti in the same mining rig and that remained unaffected. This is definitely a step in the right direction for NVIDIA as it would allow more gamers to get their hands on the GeForce graphics cards that are made for them and not for large-scale GPU mining operations.
