  5. It’s been a month since Outerdawn released Grimguard Tactics, their story-driven dark fantasy RPG on Android and iOS. Now that we’ve settled in, it’s time to shake things up with the first major content feature featuring a brand new character class. This comes alongside the highly awaited trinkets, a new dungeon, and lots of items in the shop. In a few days, the new Acolyte hero class will be added to Grimguard Tactics. This new support character comes wielding a hand scythe into battle. The Acolyte is capable of blood-bending, so to speak, given that it can use enemy blood to either control them or heal teammates. It’s a pretty handy mechanic to use in case you find yourself in a fix. You can further power up Acolyte as well as your other heroes with the new Trinkets feature. You can equip these items and raise your heroes’ strength in order to make use of different tactics based on the combat encounter ahead. This new gear type can be crafted in the Forge by mixing crafting material, which will boost the stats of your heroes. Besides that, a brand new event called Severed Path has also been added to the RPG. It is based on the new hero itself as you traverse the path of the Acolyte, where you'll step into a dangerous new dungeon. It comes with special challenges to tackle, which offer numerous rewards on completion. Don’t forget to pick up exclusive items from the shop as well. Wondering what it’s like to step into the action? Check out our review of Grimguard Tactics and see if it’s something up your alley! The A New Hero Arrives update will be released for Grimguard Tactics on November 28th. You can download it now by clicking on your preferred link below. It is free-to-play with in-app purchases. Visit the official website for more information. https://www.pocketgamer.com/grimguard-tactics/acolyte-hero-class/

  11. Just occasionally, there are years when the world goes through some fundamental, convulsive change. 1968, with the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia, the Paris riots and the anti-Vietnam War protests in America, was one of them. 1989, the year of the Tiananmen massacre, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the implosion of the Soviet empire, was another. I was on hand to see each of these things happen, and from that perspective it seems to me that, only seven weeks in, 2025 could be a year like that: a time when the basic assumptions about the way our world works are fed into the shredder. The basic reason, of course, is Donald Trump. Since the end of the World War Two, each one of the 13 US presidents before Trump's current term in office has at least paid lip service to a set of key geopolitical principles: that America's own security depended on protecting Europe from Russia, and the non-Communist countries of Asia against China. Trump has up-ended this approach. He says he's putting American interests first, way before everything else. Mostly that comes down to the single question of how much it costs the US. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cd0ng4eyr3xo
  12. Kia revealed the first exterior photos of the production-ready PV5 electric passenger and cargo vans. The PV5 will be offered in three body styles and multiple interior configurations, although the main versions will be passenger and cargo vans. Kia says that interior photos and a more detailed technical breakdown will become available by the end of the month. With the introduction of the production-ready PV5 electric van, Kia just shoved its drink into Volkswagen's hand and said "Hold my beer." The modular electric van joins Kia's lineup as a competitor to the ID.Buzz van from VW. The PV5 was first shown at last year's CES show. Now revealed in production form, it looks virtually identical to the original concept. The mid-size van will be available in three body styles and "several" configurations, starting with passenger and cargo versions and adding specialized conversion models down the line. From the exterior images Kia has released, we can tell that both the passenger and cargo versions have a simple front end, with a tall, flat profile that is sure to offer gobs of headroom. The passenger version uses huge glass windows that stretch to the back of the van, while the cargo version blocks out those panels. Speaking of the back of the van, the passenger version features a lift-up tailgate, while the cargo model uses twin side-opening doors. Powertrain details haven't been revealed yet, but we know that Kia developed the PV5 from the ground up as an EV. We're also waiting on photos of the interior, but from what we can see in these photos, the dash has separate screens for infotainment and the gauge cluster. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a63853016/kia-pv5-electric-van-finally-revealed-in-production-form/
  13. In the new series of Influential with Katty Kay, actress and model Brooke Shields opens up about spending nearly six decades in the spotlight and how she finally overcame her imposter syndrome. More than 40 years after Time magazine called her the face of a decade in a 1981 cover story, actress and model Brooke Shields says that she's finally confident enough to not feel like a failure. Speaking to the BBC's Katty Kay for her interview series Influential, Shields opens up about everything from landing an Ivory soap campaign as an infant to the fallout from that infamous Time photo shoot. In 2023, a Hulu documentary, Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields, offered a glimpse into the reality behind the tabloid headlines, centering on the relationship between Shields and her late mother, Teri. With a new book released on 14 January, Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Ageing as a Woman, Shields comes into her own and embraces the difficult task of ageing in the public eye. I knew that I had to find value beyond the surface and looks and beauty, because it was such a part of my upbringing and who I was to people – Brooke Shields Having been working since she was an infant (on the aforementioned soap ad), Shields says her public association with youthful beauty - those iconic eyebrows and big hair - has made the ageing process even more of a challenge. "[Having] a youthful face, just regularly getting older is almost viewed as a disappointment," she tells Kay. "I think, psychologically, it's a very interesting thing… You really have to do a lot of work on yourself internally to be OK with not also being disappointed with yourself." https://www.bbc.com/culture/article/20250218-brooke-shields-interview-influential-katty-kay
  14. Albatrosses are among the largest flying birds. They are super efficient in the air and travel long distances with two techniques - dynamic soaring and slope soaring. Dynamic soaring involves repeatedly rising into the wind and descending downwind, thus gaining energy from the vertical wind gradient. This maneuver allows the bird to cover almost 1,000 km/d (620 mi/d) without flapping its wings. Slope soaring uses the rising air on the windward ... https://animalia.bio/collections/gliding-animals
  15. Alexander Isak scored his 50th Premier League goal as a rampant first-half performance from Newcastle United helped them beat Nottingham Forest at St James' Park. Forest took an early lead through Callum Hudson-Odoi before Newcastle grabbed control of the game with four goals in 11 frantic first-half minutes to go in 4-1 up at half-time. Lewis Miley and Jacob Murphy scored in quick succession to stun Forest, before Isak struck twice in the space of two minutes. Isak's second - his 19th goal of the season - saw him reach the 50-goal mark in just 76 Premier League appearances, quicker than all-but six players in the competition's history. Nikola Milenkovic took advantage of a defensive lapse to pull a goal back for Forest, before substitute Ryan Yates set up a nervy finish with a close-range goal following a corner in the 90th minute. But Newcastle held on for a victory that moves them up to fifth in the table, which will likely be enough to qualify for the Champions League, and puts them within three points of Forest in third. Neither side had really settled when Hudson-Odoi stole the ball off Jacob Murphy following a throw-in, drove forward and caught Nick Pope off guard with a curling strike into the bottom corner. Eddie Howe's Newcastle side immediately looked to right that wrong, with Anthony Gordon unfortunate not to convert on the stretch as Tino Livramento's teasing cross fizzed across the face of goal. The 18-year-old Miley, making his first league start in 365 days, provided the equaliser a few minutes later when he rifled a low shot past Matz Sels after Forest failed to clear from a free-kick. Murphy then atoned for his earlier error by bundling the ball across the goal-line after Lewis Hall's attempted squared pass was deflected goalward by Murillo. Forest's situation worsened when Ola Aina handled Hall's cross inside the penalty area, with referee Jarred Gillett pointing to the spot after consulting the pitchside monitor. Isak just about beat Sels with his spot-kick down the middle, though the Belgian goalkeeper may feel disappointed not to have saves it having stood tall. The Newcastle striker compounded a torrid 11 minute-spell for Forest as he ran through on goal and finished past Sels, albeit with a slight deflection off Murillo. Forest struggled to deal with set-pieces all afternoon and came close to conceding a fifth early in the second half when Fabian Schar's header from another wicked Hall delivery hit the top of the post. However, the home side took their foot off the gas in the second-half and were left hanging on for a nervy victory. Milenkovic flicked Chris Wood's header past Pope following a corner, before Yates converted from another set-piece to leave the home crowd cursing their side's loss of focus. Miley excellent in important win Newcastle really needed a win to boost their hopes of a top-five finish and arrest a slide that was threatening to derail their season. Howe's side came into the game with three league defeats in four, and risked losing three consecutive home games in the Premier League for the first time since 2021. Instead of falling nine points behind Forest, they closed the gap to three. While Isak stole the headlines, Newcastle's youngsters Hall and Miley - who came in for Tonali - impressed. "The way Lewis Miley glides on the pitch, there are few that can do that. He is an international in waiting and has the world at his feet," former Chelsea midfielder Pat Nevin said on BBC Radio 5 Live. "I'm really happy to get a goal for my boyhood club, at the Gallowgate End. I couldn't be happier," Miley said. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/live/cq8y2732gz7t
  16. A former aide to the Prince of Wales has said the royal was at his "lowest" after the Princess of Wales was diagnosed with cancer. In an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, Jason Knauf, formerly the chief executive of William and Kate's Royal Foundation, said: "It was awful, absolutely awful. It's the lowest I've ever seen him. "Within a couple of weeks, if you're Prince William, you find out that both your wife and your father have cancer. I couldn't believe it." Both the King and the Princess of Wales were treated for cancer last year. Kate is now in remission and Charles is having ongoing treatment. Mr Knauf, 43, stepped down from his position at the end of 2021. Catherine's diagnosis was made public in March last year, and Mr Knauf said: "The problem was that all this crazy conspiracy theory stuff kicked off in the background, online. 'Was she really ill?'. "But they didn't want to say yet that she had cancer because they hadn't told the children and they were still working through how to tell the children." Speaking to reporters last year at the end of his visit to South Africa, Prince William, 42, talked about how he has coped after both his wife and his father were diagnosed with cancer, describing the past year as the "hardest year" of his life. "It's been dreadful. It's probably been the hardest year in my life. So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult," he said after being asked how his year has been after a difficult year for the Royal Family." https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cx2gyllzj5eo
