iOS 16 release candidate (RC) build is now available for developers and public testers. Here's how you can update right now. iOS 16 RC Download for iPhone Now Available - Developers and Public Beta Testers Can Install it Right Away Apple has finally released iOS 16 RC for everyone enrolled in Apple's Developer Program and Beta Software Program. Whether you're a developer or a public beta tester, the update is rolling out for you right now, that too over the air. If you're wondering how you can download the update over the air right away, provided you have the previous beta installed, here's what you need to do: Make sure your iPhone has 50% or more battery. Connect to Wi-Fi. Launch the Settings app and go to General > Software Update. When the iOS 16 RC download shows up, tap on Download and Install. The whole thing may take a while to download and install, especially if you are doing it immediately after the release of the iOS 16 release candidate. The servers around the world are going to be hammered by millions of devices attempting the download so please be patient through it all. Keep in mind that the RC build is essentially the final version that will be seeded to everyone later if and only if no bugs are found. If Apple comes across a major bug or something that needs immediate fixing then we might see the final version with a different build number. The moment you install iOS 16, be sure to check out the new Lock Screen features and widgets. If you need a way to customize your iPhone beyond what's possible on iOS 15, then you are going to love the latest update. And the second important feature is the ability to delete sent messages on iMessage. Please do keep in mind that the full and final version of the iOS 16 update will become available to download for everyone on the 12th of September. iPadOS 16, on the other hand, will likely be available in October as Apple has delayed the launch. Red Dead Redemption 2 may be almost 4 years old, but it remains one of the best-looking games on the market, and still fairly demanding if you want to play it at top settings on PC. That said, there’s now a new official option for those who want to squeeze more RDR2 performance out of their rigs, as they game now officially supports FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0. There was actually already a fan mod that added support for the open-source FSR 2.0 to RDR2, but for those who don’t want to mess around with their game’s code, you can now just download an official patch. RDR2 also officially supports NVIDIA's competing DLSS tech. Here’s the secton of the Red Dead Redemption 2 ver. 1.31 patch notes specifically dedicated to new PC features (the game is also getting Reflex support and improved temporal anti-aliasing). Reflex has been implemented to reduce lag on gamepad only (this does not apply to those playing with mouse & keyboard input) Improvements have been made to Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA) AMD FidelityX Super Resolution (FSR) 2.0 has been implemented Additionally, the following new content and features have been added to both PC and consoles… Players can now launch Telegrams from both the Player Menu and the Camp A link to the credits has been added to the Pause Menu Three new Hardcore Co-op Telegrams have been added to Red Dead Online: In Bad Faith (1-4 Players) - Capture the 7th Generation members and bring them to Skelding’s man Strong Medicine (1-4 Players) - Steal the 7th Generation supplies and bring them to Skelding’s man Sow and Reap (1-4 Players) - Find the 7th Generation leader, bring him to Skelding’s man One new location added to three existing Telegram Missions in Red Dead Online: A One-Horse Deal Rich Pickings Outrider Four new locations added to two existing Showdown Modes in Red Dead Online: Hostile Territory Sport of Kings Rockstar has indicated they plan to wind down support for Red Dead Online, and it seems likely next-gen console versions of RDR2 are never coming, so it’s good to see at least some support is still being offered. Red Dead Redemption 2 ver. 1.31 also includes the usual array of bug fixes and small tweaks – if you want to read up on them, you can check out the full, unabridged patch notes, right here. Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, and playable via backward compatibility on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Binance is moving to prioritise its own stablecoin, BUSD, over several others on its cryptocurrency exchange, announcing a "BUSD Auto-Conversion" that will begin on September 29 to "enhance liquidity and capital-efficiency for users." Binance is introducing the conversion for users' existing balances and new deposits of USDC, USDP and TUSD stablecoins at a 1:1 ratio. The move is a significant one for the exchange as USDC is the second-largest stablecoin by total supply, while the USDC/USDT pair happens to rank 11th among the highest trading pairs by volume. "With effect from 2022-09-29 03:00 (UTC), users will trade with a consolidated BUSD balance on the Binance Platform that reflects their balances of these four stablecoins (BUSD, USDC, USDP and TUSD) post-conversion. This will not affect users' choice of withdrawal: users will continue to be able to withdraw funds in USDC, USDP and TUSD at a 1:1 ratio to their BUSD-denominated account balance," the company said. Binance will also end trading pairs for the three stablecoins against BUSD and Tether (USDT) as well as major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ether. The stablecoin-to-stablecoin pairs will close on September 26, with the stablecoin-to-crypto pairs ending on September 29. "All pending trade orders will be automatically removed after trading ceases in each respective trading pair. Users can then trade the assets in the respective BUSD trading pairs," Binance said. The announced changes cut across a number of Binance services beyond its exchange, including its staking, payment and gift card offerings. Russia Open to Idea of Allowing Crypto Use for Cross-Border Payments: Report CEO Changpeng Zhao clarified in a tweet that Binance was not delisting USDC and users will still be able to deposit and withdraw USDC. USDC is the second-largest stablecoin in the crypto space, with a market cap of $52 billion (roughly Rs. 4,15,330 crore). The Binance-backed stablecoin is ranked third with a market cap of $19.5 billion (roughly Rs. 150 crore), while TUSD ranks fifth with a market cap of $1 billion (roughly Rs. 7,990 crore). USDP is ranked sixth and has a market cap of $945 million (roughly Rs. 7,550 crore). Tether's USDT is the dominant stablecoin in the space, with a market cap of $67 billion (roughly Rs. 5,35,140 crore), accounting for over 80 percent of the trading volume in the industry. With the next Apple event due very soon, we dive into all the leaks and rumours surrounding iPhone 14 on Orbital, the Gadgets 360 podcast. EU lawmakers have gone ahead and proposed some solid requirements for all the smartphones sold in the region. The regulators have suggested that phone vendors should deliver at least five years of security updates and three years of OS updates to their devices. In addition to that, the said security and system updates should reach users "at the latest two months" after they are released, meaning that all Android users would start getting updates rather quickly. Android and iPhones Could Soon Get Excellent and Timely Support All Thanks to EU If these rules are enforced, they could easily shift the way Android OEMs have been handling software updates for some time now. At the time of writing, Samsung and Google are the only two companies that are offering five years of security updates on their phones. Despite this, not all of their devices are enjoying these benefits. On top of that, Samsung is also offering four major Android updates to the premium devices, the longest in the industry. In comparison, Google and other Such regulation has the power to go ahead and force the companies to deliver longer updates not just for the flagship phones but also for the mid-range and budget devices that normally do not get the same treatment. The draft regulations also dedicated that the battery capacity of the device “shall not deteriorate after an operating system software update or a firmware update when measured with the same test standard originally used for the declaration of conformity." In addition to that, it also adds, “No performance change shall occur as a result of rejecting the update, except for third-party application software.” The same regulation also suggests that smartphones and tablets sold in that region should have spare parts, including batteries, displays, cameras, charging ports, and more, available for at least five years. The draft states, “devices are often replaced prematurely by users and are, at the end of their useful life, not sufficiently reused or recycled, leading to a waste of resources.” It should not come as a surprise that Europe has been leading the way forward with smartphone regulations in recent times, and it is definitely something that looks good going forward for all companies. The European Commission is currently gaining feedback on the draft rules, and some of the proposals that have been suggested could come into effect by the end of the year, and most of them would be in effect in 12 months after they are approved. Alone in the Dark is one game that inspired many others, many of those being some of the more po[CENSORED]r titles or franchises in the industry's history. Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Barbie's Horse Adventures, and almost any 3D survival horror game you've ever heard of had inspiration from the original 1992 release. Now, thirty years later - I was four when the original was released - we're going back to the beginning with Alone in the Dark (2022), a game getting inspiration from those it inspired. Described by developers Pieces Interactive (Magicka 2, Titan Quest: Ragnarök & Titan Quest: Atlantis) as a love letter to the original, the studio has brought in experienced horror writer Mikael Hedberg (Amnesia: The Dark Descent, SOMA, and Need for Speed: Payback) who explained during the presentation how he's only worked with some aspects of the original, wanting this version to stand alone, bringing an entirely new story for the series. What has he brought from the original? You're back in Decerto Manor, still in Louisiana. This time, however, the manor is a mental hospital for the wealthy. Also, you will not be stuck solely within the mansion, branching out into the Louisiana countryside and New Orleans itself. Immediately, the new Alone in the Dark expands upon the original setting while still aiming to stay faithful. Who will you be doing this as? Sticking with the original cast, you'll be controlling Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood. What should be interesting is how Pieces Interactive borrows from titles like Resident Evil. Rather than going along the same path, each character will have their story, with the one you haven't selected appearing as an NPC. Like Resident evil, it should make a second playthrough valuable. How these stories will differ hasn't been explored. For more:https://wccftech.com/alone-in-the-dark-impressions/

Apple Watch Series Pro computer-aided design (CAD) renders have been shared online ahead of their expected launch on Wednesday, tipping the design of the rumoured smartwatch. As per the purported renders, the Watch Pro could feature display with very slim bezels. The most notable feature appears to be the two buttons bulging from the right side of the smartwatch. The renders show a pill-shaped button below a rotating crown. Additionally, a tipster has also shared an alleged image of the Apple Watch Pro casing, suggesting the same pill-shaped button on the right side. According to a report by 91Mobiles, the Apple Watch Pro CAD renders were generated based on industry sources, and tip the design features of the rumoured smartwatch. The renders suggest that the Apple Watch Pro could feature a large display with thin bezels. The watch also appears with a rotating crown protruding from the right side, placed next to a pill-shaped button, and a microphone hole. The alleged CAD renders also show a flushed button on the left side, next to a speaker grille, as per the report. The purpose of the button is unclear at the moment. As per the report, the Apple Watch Pro model might also launch with some exclusive straps. The Cupertino-based tech giant is yet to officially confirm the Apple Watch Pro name. Tipster Uncle Pan has also shared a purported image of Apple Watch Pro's casing via the Chinese microblogging site Weibo. The image suggests similar button placement and shapes for the smartwatch as the above mentioned report. The cases appear with four differently sized cutouts, on both sides. The watch case also appears in five different colours, alongside a transparent option. link : https://gadgets360.com/wearables/news/apple-watch-pro-design-leaked-cad-renders-extra-buttons-specifications-features-expected-3317754

With the retail launch of the Ryzen 7000 approaching, the existing AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs have started to receive some pretty major price cuts. AMD Ryzen 5000 CPU Prices See Huge Retailer Cuts With Only Weeks Left in Ryzen 7000 Launch, 5800X3D Down To $379 US With less than a month left in AMD's Ryzen 7000 launch, the existing product stack is finally down to less than $500 US. AMD's Ryzen 5000 CPUs launched almost two years ago, offering the most competitive multi-threaded and gaming performance against Intel's lineup seen in years. Now two years later, AMD is going to repeat the same, offering much higher single-threaded performance & in a highly efficient package to gamers, content creators, and high-performance users. While AMD's Ryzen 7000 CPUs are without a doubt going to blaze past their predecessors, the current Ryzen 5000 CPU stack at their current prices is just too good to ignore for the majority of gamers and builders who don't see a need to upgrade to the AM5 platform, just yet. While AM5 is the way to go for future longevity, AMD already confirmed that they will stay committed to AM4 users for the foreseeable future. Another reason why AM4 might seem like a more value-oriented choice is that it still supports DDR4 memory which is much cheaper to get compared to DDR5 and that still hasn't reached price parity with the older standard. Also, AM4 motherboards give users the choice to pick up anywhere from a $50 to a $500 motherboard whereas AM5 will begin at a slightly higher $125 US bracket. So while those who want something new and fresh with faster performance should aim for AM5, the rest of the audience who are building budget PCs should aim for AM4 while it still has some juice in it and wait till AM5 gets more mature. With that said, let's take a look at the latest pricing of AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs. Starting with the top-dog, the Ryzen 9 5950X, the chip is down from its MSRP of $799.99 US to just $499.99 US. That's an impeccable deal for a 16-core processor but if you want to save even more money yet still get lots of high-performance cores, then the Ryzen 9 5900X with 12-cores at $349.99 US is an amazing deal. That's in fact even cheaper than the Ryzen 7 5800X3D which is currently down to $379.99 US but it is definitely an interesting choice. If you want to go the content creation and multi-threading route, then the 5900X is going to be your best choice and if you are looking to game, then the 5800X3D is going to be your best bet. AMD FSR 2.0, the latest version of the image reconstruction technique, has been added to Deep Rock Galactic with the latest Oktoberfest-themed patch. Danish studio Ghost Ship Games explained: Didn’t we just release support for FSR 1.0? Well, yes, and now there is a brand new version supported in the game. We heard good things from a lot of you who used FSR 1.0 and DLSS in Deep Rock Galactic, so we are excited to see what this new version can do in terms of performance. Early FSR 2.0 testing shows promising results. We are also leaving FSR 1.0 in, so you can select between the two versions if you should have any compatibility issues or your setup benefits from a specific version. We truly are spoiled for choice when it comes to upscaling technology. As mentioned by Ghost Ship Games, Deep Rock Galactic previously received FSR 1.0 and NVIDIA DLSS support around five months ago. The developers have also introduced support for NVIDIA Reflex, the latency-lowering technology. AMD itself also revealed that FSR 2.0 will soon be added to Volition's Saints Row reboot Saints Row supports ray traced indirect lighting but does not currently offer any advanced upscaling technique. iPhone 14 series is said to include the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The Cupertino company has not yet unveiled the design of this upcoming series. However, an alleged live video of the iPhone 14 Pro has seemingly surfaced. It showcases a new option that will allow iPhone 14 Pro users to toggle between a split pill-shaped hole-punch cutout and a unified pill cutout. It was recently tipped that Apple will turn off the pixels on the display between the two cutouts to make it appears as a single notch. An alleged iPhone 14 Pro video is being circulated on the Chinese social media platform Weibo and shows the rumoured pill-shaped notch in use. The alleged video shows that the iPhone 14 Pro will come with an option that will allow users to switch between a unified pill notch or a split pill-shaped hole-punch cutout. A recent report suggested that Apple might turn off pixels between the two cutouts on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. This feature is believed to be possible due to the OLED displays used in the Pro models. iPhone 15 Pro Models Could be Most Powerful Phones in 2023: Report Apple is reportedly planning to use the single unibrow-like pill-shaped cutout in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to display privacy indicators. The company "Microsoft" officially bid farewell, Wednesday, to the browser "Internet Explorer", which was one of the first reference tools for browsing the Internet in the mid-nineties of the twentieth century before the emergence of competing browsing tools that matched it and then surpassed it, most notably Google. The use of "Explorer" will remain available, but the giant company based in Redmond (Washington state) will no longer make any updates or modifications to this browser, which it launched about 27 years ago, in August 1995. At the beginning of the year 2021, Microsoft announced the end of "Explorer", from which 11 successive versions were available, and then set in May 2021 the date of June 15, 2022 to implement this decision. "Edge" From now on, the group intends to focus its efforts on its other browser, "Edge", which it launched in 2015, given that it is "faster, safer, and provides a more modern browsing experience," as it explained last year in its explanation of this trend. The company was keen to ensure that Edge was able to visit sites and applications built on the basis of "Explorer". After twenty-five years of work, Internet Explorer retires The "Kinsta" specialized website indicated that the share of "Explorer" of the Internet browsing tools market was now limited to 2%, while the share of "Google Chrome" is 77 percent and "Safari" (from "Apple") 8 percent. and Edge 5 percent. After its launch, "Explorer" quickly replaced the first major browser in the history of the Internet, "Netscape", and its share of the sector exceeded 90 percent at the beginning of the first decade of the twenty-first century. After 25 years of service, Microsoft is dispensing with "Internet Explorer" farewell greeting And social networking sites were filled with comments from users nostalgic for the beginnings of the Internet, and they bid farewell to the blue letter "e" that has long appeared on the screens of hundreds of millions of computers. TV presenter Brian Keeler tweeted, "I'm of Internet Explorer age. You've been my childhood companion. Rest in peace." Indonesian businessman Edi Solistyo wrote on Twitter, "Thank you for being the best browser to download Chrome and Air Fox in 14 years." In 1997, the government of former US President Bill Clinton filed a lawsuit against Microsoft, accusing it of abusing its dominant position, especially with regard to the browser, "Explorer". https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/magazines/panache/microsofts-internet-explorer-to-retire-after-27-years-of-service-twitter-gets-nostalgic/articleshow/92194079.cms

There has never been a solidified way of the best technique when it comes to applying the thermal paste on hardware components, mainly when it comes to GPUs & CPUs. Application methods, such as a central application, a cross design, one solid line, and more varying styles, have been discussed in a meaningful context in PC DIY circles. "Sausage-style" thermal paste application for GPUs results in five degrees difference above all other techniques. Igor Wallossek, owner and computer expert on the website Igor's Lab, put all methods to the test to answer the question of the best process overall. The final result resulted in a difference of five degrees celsius compared to the least used methods. In the study by Wallossek on his website, he discusses how crucial proper thermal paste application is for large graphics cards. He notes that where smaller GPUs run into this problem, much less, more significant, and higher performing graphics cards present surfaces that are not even and are prone to distortion under pressures from the cooling assemblage. Wccftech and other news outlets initially reported the Alder Lake processors to warp due to the uneven mounting brackets, which have now been fixed with newer bracket designs. Another highlight he mentions before testing is ensuring that the previous thermal paste has been eradicated from the assembly before reapplying the new thermal paste. Wallossek declares that the large gap between GPU and cooler causes inadequate cooling and that using a "high-viscosity thermal paste" is highly recommended. Products, such as the Arctic MX-2 and Arctic MX-4, are ones he would not recommend but would suggest Alphacools Apex, Subzero, or what he calls "the old Gelid PC Extreme." Before applying the new thermal paste to the GPU, he suggests increasing the paste's temperature by warming the tube in your hands or pockets and ensuring that the die on the GPU is not cool to the touch. Wallossek also suggests utilizing a hair dryer to keep the viscous paste malleable. The start of this piece has had around eight different versions simply because I'm confused, more than anything else. It's pretty common to see tone-deaf statements from the heads of gaming companies; it's been particularly rife surrounding Activision Blizzard and Ubisoft, surrounding the disgusting culture of rape, abuse and sexual predation within the companies. You don't often see the head of a company express how bad the working conditions of their studio are. Striking Distance Studios CEO Glen Schofield has done just this. Let's jump into the tweet that has now been deleted while writing this piece. Also fair warning, mostly a commentary/opinion piece. It's almost baffling that a CEO has posted this, but he has. It's just absurd, and it's ridiculous for so many reasons. The first thing we know now is that Striking Distance Studios, developing the upcoming Callisto Protocol, seemingly has a disgusting- work culture of soul-destroying crunch. They work 12 to 15 hours daily and six to seven days weekly. These numbers mean workers are working between 72 to 105 hours each week. Glen claims they aren't, using utterly pathetic lines like "This is gaming", "Hard work", and "U do it cause ya luv it" as a cover, but the reality is the games industry is notorious for how it treats people that do not kill themselves. The workers who decide they want to see their family, their children, not to be miserable and not burn out? They will be overlooked regarding promotions, bonuses and other forms of progression. Their unwillingness to near-kill themselves to line the pockets of a person like Glen has led to hundreds of people being blacklisted and careers killed. Is Glen telling people, "if you don't crunch, this will happen"? No, I highly doubt this. The threats against employees are never explicit; they are implicit. Where everybody else is talking about the post-launch content planned from Striking Distance for The Callisto Protocol, I'm more interested in the lives of the people making this game. I hope it's good, I hope it sells well for the sake of those making the game, but I never want any piece of work - game, film, or otherwise - to be made on the back of the misery of others. The story of the possible folding phone from Google seems like a never ending story. For a few months it seemed that the company considered this project settled and discarded it, but information has appeared that shows that this is not the case and that the arrival of the long-awaited Pixel on the market can still be expected. When? Well, it could be in no time. If you remember, it was in 2021 when it was believed that the company that develops Android would have its foldable announced, but different factors -such as the pandemic- made this not so. And, since then, what has been known is that delay after delay is added. So much so that it was finally thought that the project was being abandoned, but information published in The New York Times suggests otherwise. When could the Google Pixel Fold arrive? The data that is handled now is that the device could definitely arrive in 2023 (without specifying a specific date at the moment, but the normal thing would be to bet on a little before the summer so as not to step on the entry of other Pixels into the market), together to the Android 14 operating system that would have specific improvements inside for this type of smartphone that have a screen that doubles and that significantly enhances productivity. The fact is that this could be the last opportunity to reach this segment of the market, since more delays would make it lose a lot compared to companies that have been present for a long time, such as Samsung, Huawei or Xiaomi itself (and Apple is going down the same path at this rate, by the way). In other words, we are facing what could be thought of as "now or never". Production dilemmas have affected Right now we are in a difficult moment, since, due to the existing problems with China from the US, there are not a few companies that are migrating part of their production to Vietnam. An example is Google itself, and it appears that Apple is going the same way -and, incidentally, the Korean Samsung already has half in the mentioned country-. This is happening to avoid supply problems like those that have been occurring in recent months because the Asian giant is not seen as the most reliable partner. But, in the case of foldables, you can't avoid having to produce major parts in China because the components are advanced and this is where you have the factories that are able to do this at sensible prices (a couple of examples are screens and hinge parts). And, Google, does not escape this. Therefore, despite the company's efforts, everything indicates that it will maintain its presence in China... at least for the time being. Based on the latest tip, Telegram is apparently working on a new feature that will help users protect their accounts. The upcoming feature is going to let you link up your account to an email ID, and Telegram will use it for verification every time you are logging in on a new device. Although Telegram has decided not to share any details officially, we have the tip coming from the app developer and reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi who has managed to grab a couple of screenshots that show the in-development feature. Telegram Wants to Secure User Accounts Even Further By Letting Them Login Using Emails You can see in the attached tweets the new feature will give users the option to add an email ID to "protect your account." The feature will also include a Sign in with Google option for those who use a Gmail account. Paluzzi has also shared another screenshot that reveals that the feature is going to appear in the Privacy and Security settings in the Telegram app, and by tapping on it, it will show a pop-up that will say, “This email address will be used every time you log into your Telegram account from a new device.“ In addition to that, a Change Email button will also be up that will let users connect their Telegram profile to a different email address Currently, Telegram does offer a two-step verification feature that lets users protect their accounts. It lets you secure your account with an additional password, and you have to use that password to access the app on a new device. However, since this feature uses a pre-defined static password, it is not as secure as the feature in which you have to verify the login through email. A recent report from DigiTimes Asia shows that DDR5 memory prices are anticipated to fall in price during the latter half of 2022 & through 2023 which should definitely help AMD & Intel PC builders. In July, contract pricing declined twenty percent while chip vendors unloaded lower-level DDR5 modules. The consumer-level DDR5 prices, especially at channel distributors, plummeted far below the manufacturer's estimated retail pricing. DDR5 Prices for entry-level systems are estimated to continue to fall dramatically towards the end of the year, benefiting companies like Intel and AMD In the report, next year's pricing should be comfortable, allowing immediate adoption of the DDR5 memory modules. It is anticipated that DDR5 memory will be close, if not near the pricing of the preceding DDR4 memory modules, allowing more users to switch to the newer technology. AMD Ryzen 7000 series will bring DDR5 into the spotlight with their systems only compatible with the newer memory modules. This focus on the newer generation will allow DDR5 to be at the forefront in most systems over the next few years. The company is working with several DDR5 memory makers to offer "EXPO" kits that will offer the best experience on the upcoming AM5 platform. The price reduction will not only keep AMD competitive in the marketplace but will also benefit Intel. Intel will see an estimated growth in sales of the DDR4-centric Alder Lake and Raptor Lake generations, as well as compatibility with the DDR5 support on the current and next-gen Core processors. Intel has fallen behind on full adoption due to the pricing of DDR5 modules before this half of the year. For Intel, the memory standard is will allow for significant bandwidth upgrades thanks to natively supported speeds of up to 5600 Mbps compared to AMD's native 5200 Mbps transfer speeds.. Compared to prices in 2021, DDR5-4800 in 32 GB dual channel kits cost around $149.99 currently, offering higher frequency kits that equal the pricing of DDR4 that we witnessed a few years back. The price for a 6000 Mbps kit with CL36 timings and 32 MB dual channels was $239.99. Readers should note that these memory modules, at the beginning of 2022, were double the current cost if not higher, with premium DDR5 modules selling as high as $900. If 2021 was any example of aggressive pricing on memory modules, it should be anticipated to do the same throughout next year. A little over one year ago, we saw the announcement of The Last Oricru alongside Koch Media's (now Plaion) new label, Prime Matter. Developed by Czech-based developer GoldKnights, we also found out at the beginning of Gamescom that Plaion and GoldKnights will release the game on the 13th of October. My interest was piqued back then, being a fan of traditional "eurojank" games. Once allowed to get hands-on at Gamescom, I jumped at the chance, and here are my impressions. Plaion and GoldKnights set up my time with The Last Oricru to highlight one of the few features you haven't often seen recently: co-op. Not online co-op, though that is an option; it's couch co-op in this case. My time with the game had me playing alongside one of the developers on a couch. However, I was quick to ask - and be reassured - that this would also be perfectly fine to play single-player - a good answer for somebody that doesn't like to associate with human beings. One nice little feature is that the co-op is hop-in and drop-out, not requiring long loading or separate modes. One of the core elements of the game is a branching narrative, where your actions will have some consequences. The part I can talk about is where you'll be in the middle of an attack on a city. What side you're on will depend on the actions and choices you've made in the past. Are you on the side of the rat-people, attacking the city, or the strange elven-alien-human things defending? If the latter, when you beat the lead rat in combat, will you choose to spare its life or not? The developer told me the consequences of this latter decision and how it will impact the game later, but I won't spoil it here. What you need to know is that it does. I'm not going to say that it has a branching narrative in the same sense as a Dark Pictures game. It doesn't. The Last Oricru is longer, predicted to be between 15 to 20 hours for a playthrough, and the dev told me that to get the three core stories, you could do three playthroughs. There are ways to move between them throughout the game, but if you think of them as three separate ones, it's easier. One important thing to note is that your co-op partner does not get to make decisions on your behalf, so you needn't worry about that. Expect The Last Oricru to be a relatively narrative-heavy title. The developer told me that over 180,000 words make up the dialogue, with inspiration taken from titles like The Witcher, games developed by Spiders, and more. Though, granted, there is a more comical and less oppressive tone taken with some of the dialogue I've seen. It sat well enough with me, too many games are dour lately, and it didn't seem to go too far. For more;https://wccftech.com/the-last-oricru-preview-gothic-soulslike/

Facebook Neighborhoods shuts down on October 1 Add another victim to Meta’s hit list as the company recently announced it’s shutting down Facebook Neighborhoods on October 1. The shut down notice was first shared by social media consultant Matt Navarra on Twitter(opens in new tab) who posted a screenshot of a Meta project manager going by the mononym Tohm making the announcement on a Facebook Group. The project manager goes on to say the official Group for Neighborhoods will close on September 7 with the official service shutting down on October 1. Facebook Neighborhoods has been referred to as Meta’s answer to Nextdoor(opens in new tab), a social networking app where people can share posts, news, and sell items to others living in their local area. Neighborhoods was first seen in late 2020 when it launched as a pilot program in Calgary, Canada before officially rolling out to the rest of the country and select US cities(opens in new tab) in May 2021. Neighborhoods is similar in function to Facebook Groups, but has some unique features like allowing people to create different profiles separate from their main account for their locality. Privacy concerns plagued the service, however. When it was first tested, some were worried Neighborhoods could be used to collect user data and deliver focused ads. Shifting priorities Initially, it was unknown why Meta is shutting down Neighborhoods. The Meta project manager didn't say why in the post. We reached out to Meta and a company representative told us it "learned that the best place to support... local communities is through [G]roups". Neighborhoods was supposed to be a way to bring local communities together, but Facebook Groups already did that job just fine. Plus, Meta is working on Facebook's search function to be more of a "discovery engine" as the representative refers to it. This "discovery engine" will have local content and groups appear more often in an effort to make public communities easier to find. Instagram Reels will also get more of priority to help people share and discuss their interests. Essentially, Meta is refocusing their efforts towards features it believes are better. However, the Neighborhoods shut down continues a recent cancellation spree by the tech giant of cutting unpo[CENSORED]r features. Meta's many cancellations When the COVID-19 pandemic first started, Meta launched a variety of features aimed at furthering online interactions since people were going to be spending more time indoors. But over time, the company has been steadily getting rid of them. You had services like Facebook Live Shopping, the Novi digital wallet, and Facebook Gaming come out during the pandemic with every single one getting axed. Some apps, like Tuned which launched as a way for couples to stay connected while social distancing, have managed to survive up to this point but for how much longer? It’s also important to point out that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a July Q&A session with employees(opens in new tab) the company is going through “one of the worst downturns [it’s] seen in recent history." If this downturn is indeed the cause of this cancellation spree, be prepared to see way more features getting hacked off. As it gets rid of these pandemic-era features, Meta appears to be throwing the proverbial spaghetti against the wall and seeing what sticks. According to a leaked memo, Facebook and Instagram may start charging people for some of its premium features. Some users, like Techradar’s own Daryl Baxter, are not happy with this new direction to say the least. Yonggang Luo, an independent contributor to the Mesa3D graphics project, has begun work to enable AVX-512 support for the LLVMpipe implementation. The reason the Mesa contributor took it upon themselves to add support to the Mesa3D graphics pipeline is to allow AVX-512 to be utilized within the new AMD Ryzen 7950X processors and the remainder of the 7000 series. LLVMpipe driver for Mesa3D Project adds AVX-512 optimizations for the upcoming AMD Zen 4 architecture Yonggang felt the implementation was necessary because AMD's newest Ryzen 7000 Zen 4 processors could benefit from the latest performance. LLVMpipe is a unique Mesa OpenGL software execution that is utilized when the graphics card or GPU driver is not found by the computer system or is not on the system. Readers will remember that the LLVM is a collection of "compiler and toolchain technologies used to create a front end for any programming language and a back end for any instruction set architecture." The LLVMpipe will allow the LLVM to utilize a particular set of extensions and produce more performance than other software executables, such as Softpipe and OpenGL. AVX-512 has seen the most use with Intel processors for several years. However, it is interesting to see LLVMpipe support the unreleased Ryzen 7000 series CPUs since it features an integrated RDNA 2 graphics integration and performs better than LLVMpipe. With AMD Zen 4 CPUs not released yet, it is unknown if AVX-512 will offer increased performance on the newer architecture. AVX-512 is utilized by a 256-bit pathway and not a 512-bit path. The newest merge request will alter the essential sections to enable AVX-512 in Gallium, where AVX-512 was not activated. This request will also include an environment variable called "GALLIUM_OVERRIDE_CPU_CAPS" to allow the CPU abilities to be overridden inside Softpipe and LLVMpipe. AVX, SSE, and several other features can be disabled or enabled after overriding the processor. Lastly, "LP_NATIVE_VECTOR_WIDTH" will allow for altering vector bits width to utilize AVX/AVX2/AVX-512 in LLVMpipe. for more:https://wccftech.com/mesa3d-projects-llvmpipe-driver-introduces-avx-512-in-amds-zen-4-cpus/

New reports regarding the thermal performance of AMD's Ryzen 7000 CPUs have been shared by Enthusiast Citizen over at Bilibili & it looks like the upcoming Zen 4 chips will require serious cooling hardware to keep them tame. AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs Run Real Hot With Ryzen 9 7950X Hitting Up To 95C at 230W & Ryzen 5 7600X Hitting Up To 90C at 120W, Alleges Rumor The leaker who has been very reliable with his past information and leaks has stated that AMD's Ryzen 7000 Desktop CPUs based on the Zen 4 core architecture will be some of the hottest chips produced to date. The leaker talks about two specific chips, an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X & the Ryzen 5 7600X. Do note that the information shared is based on ES/QS samples so final results may vary. So coming to the meat of the details, it is reported that the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X will throttle below 5.0 GHz under intensive tasks as it comes with a 95C Thermal Threshold or TjMax and you'll need some beefy coolers to keep the chip running under that. At full load in stock configuration, the CPU is said to consume up to 230 Watts of power and operate at up to 95C. The Ryzen 5 7600X is also a similar scenario with the chip consuming up to 120W of power at full load and hitting temps of up to 90C.
