  14. As many of you know, I currently drive a used 2012 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Wagon with a long, useful warranty, which I got a few months ago. This is topical, since just today I reviewed the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63S Wagon, which I really, really, really want. But more than I want the new AMG Wagon, I just want an Audi RS6 Avant. Unfortunately, Audi doesn't want me to have it. Every single time I post anything about my AMG Wagon -- a photo on Instagram, a tweet, a video -- I'm bombarded with messages from people living outside North America asking me why I didn't get the Audi RS6 Avant. It's cooler. It's better. It's more exciting. Why get an "old person" E-Class when you could have the cool new thing? Here's the reason, folks: it doesn't exist in North America. Audi never sold it here. In fact, Audi hasn't sold any station wagon version of the A6 in several years -- "RS" or not. The last time (the only time!) we got an Audi RS6 was the 2003 model year, in sedan form only -- and the last time we got any form of high-performance Audi wagon was the B7 S4, which ended production in 2008. Audi simply doesn't think we can be trusted with high-performance wagons. And, of course, U.S. import laws mean I can't just go to Europe, pick one up and bring it home with me. Not that I wouldn't want to. If the Audi RS6 Avant was sold in the United States, I absolutely would've bought that instead of my AMG; the old RS6 Avant offered 570 horsepower, and the new one has almost 600 -- compared to a paltry 520 in my AMG. Not only that, but I simply prefer the look of the RS6 Avant, the beauty of the Audi interior and the subtlety of the overall design. If I could've had an RS6 Avant, it wouldn't have even been a consideration -- I would've. But I couldn't. So quit asking. 15. Two people have been arrested in a raid on the home of the controversial Gupta family in South Africa as part of a government influencing investigation. The wealthy India-born Gupta family have been accused of "state capture" - using their friendship with President Zuma to wield enormous political influence for their business interests. Both Mr Zuma and the Guptas deny the allegations made against them. Mr Zuma is under pressure to resign, in part because of links to the Guptas. He is expected to respond later today to a formal request from the African National Congress (ANC) to step down. The Hawks, South Africa's priority crime unit, confirmed they were searching the Gupta's walled compound near Johannesburg zoo on Wednesday morning. Local media say that one of the three Gupta brothers has been arrested but the BBC has so far been unable to confirm this. Why is President Zuma under pressure? The scandal-hit leader has been in power since 2009, but has been dogged by corruption allegations. Mr Zuma was replaced as the party's leader in December by his deputy, Cyril Ramaphosa, but has so far resisted calls to resign. An official has said the 75-year-old was willing to stand down in the next three to six months, but top leadership want him to withdraw from power immediately. Long read: The trials of Jacob Zuma Who are the Gupta family? The embattled Gupta family own a range of business interests in South Africa, including computing, mining, air travel, energy, technology and media. The three brothers, Atul, Rajesh and Ajay, moved to the country in 1993 from India, just as white-minority rule was ending. They are known friends of President Zuma - and his son, daughter and one of the president's wives worked for the family's firms. The brothers have been accused of wielding enormous political influence in South Africa, with critics alleging that they have tried to "capture the state" to advance their own business interests. Who are the Guptas? How the Guptas brand turned toxic What is the scandal between the family and the president? Former Deputy Finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas made a public allegation in 2016 that he was offered 600m Rand ($50m; £36m) by the Gupta family to be the next finance minister - as long as he did their bidding. It was followed by a damning report by a South African government ombudsman that accused the Guptas and President Zuma of colluding to win government contracts. The public backlash worsened in 2017 when more than 100,000 emails were leaked which appeared to show the extent the family had exerted their influence. It suggested a complex web of government contracts, as well as alleged kickbacks and money laundering. It prompted marches and public protests against the family and President Zuma, dubbed the "Zuptas".
