The Minister of Health, Pilar Mazzetti, warned that in the next few days there will be an increase in COVID-19 cases in the country as further tests will be carried out to monitor the new outbreaks. The holder of the portfolio indicated that the increase in tests is taking place within the framework of the Tayta operation, which to date has benefited 100,000 families. "At times, the numbers of positives are going to go up and they have to go up, because we have to carry out targeted interventions, there may be a peak as a result of the Tayta operation or others that are carried out in the interior of the country, with 4,000 or 5,000 people sampled, "he said. "That's the figures. We all want a downward trend and for that we have to take care of ourselves," he added. On the other hand, Mazzetti referred to the update of the numbers of deaths from COVID-19. Thus, she indicated that the portfolio is taking the "most difficult figure" which is that of Sinadef and that "over time" it will be possible to determine the exact number of deaths as what happened in Belgium. "They have seen that we have difficulty making the records, but we must do our best to make the figures transparent. You have to choose a figure, the best you can, because there is no perfect figure anywhere in the world. Belgium, for example, has removed deceased, "he explained. A Chilean team of rescuers detected possible signs of life in the rubble of a building collapsed by the powerful explosion almost a month ago in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. Specialists have brought survivor detection sensors to the Mar Mikhael area, after there were reports that heartbeats were detected. A crowd gathered in the collapsed building in Mar Mikhael where a team of rescuers from Chile, a seismic country with specialists in this type of task, work. More than 200 people died on August 4 following the explosion of some 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate that were in a warehouse in the port of Lebanon. Some 300,000 people were made homeless by the massive damage to homes and buildings, a crisis that prompted the Lebanese government to resign after intense demonstrations. Local reports say they have detected, thanks to a sniffer dog and a scanner, the possibility that someone is alive under the rubble. "These (breathing and pulse signals) together with the temperature sensor means that there is a possibility of life," rescuer Eddy Bitar told reporters. A woman at the scene told the BBC that rescuers arrived at the scene last night and the dog indicated there were signs of life. The crews returned this morning with their equipment to dig through the rubble. Specialists ask for silence from time to time so that the team can listen carefully, reports BBC journalist Orla Guerin, present at the scene. The Chileans arrived in Lebanon on September 1. According to a local source, they have highly sensitive equipment that can detect respiration at a depth of 15 m. So far there is no confirmation that anyone is alive under the rubble, but some of those gathered are hopeful, says Guerin. One of those waiting for news is a young man holding a Lebanese flag. He told the BBC that when he heard the news, he couldn't stay home. Mar Mikhael was one of the areas most affected by the shock wave that generated the explosion on August 4. It is a historic neighborhood near the port. It was famous for its nightlife before the disaster.

Today, Intel officially launches its 11th Generation Tiger Lake processors featuring a brand new CPU and GPU architecture. The Intel Tiger Lake CPUs are based on the company's latest 10nm++ process node which offers improved performance efficiency than 10th Gen Ice Lake processors. Intel 11th Gen Tiger Lake CPUs With 10nm++ Willow Cove & Xe Architecture Official - Compete Directly Against AMD's Ryzen 4000 Renoir APUs The Intel Tiger Lake CPUs will be branded under the 11th Generation Core family branding. There have been several leaks regarding the family but today is the day that Intel finally unveils it all for the public. The Intel Tiger Lake 11th Generation CPUs are focused on the mobility space and also adopt an entirely brand new look and feel. There is a lot to talk about so let's get started. A few highlights of today's launch (via Intel): Intel launches 11th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics, the world’s best processors for thin-and-light laptops, delivering up to 2.7x faster content creation, more than 20% faster office productivity, and more than 2x faster gaming plus streaming in real-world workflows over competitive products. Intel Evo platform brand introduced for designs based on 11th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics and verified through the Project Athena innovation program’s second-edition specification and key experience indicators (KEIs). More than 150 designs based on 11th Gen Intel Core processors are expected from Acer, Asus, Dell, Dynabook, HP, Lenovo, LG, MSI, Razer, Samsung, and others. Intel's 10nm SuperFin & SuperMIM Design For Tiger Lake The Intel Tiger Lake CPUs are based on the 10nm++ process node and feature the company's latest Willow Cove cores. The Willow Cove core architecture is based on the same foundations as the last generation Sunny Cove architecture. It can be seen as a refinement of Sunny Cove in all of the ways possible but at the same time, Willow Cove cores also feature a redesigned chip hierarchy for faster performance throughput. The 10nm++ process node is being termed by Intel as the 10nm SuperFin transistor design. Intel itself claims that the SuperFin process delivers the same uplift in performance as a proper node shrink. The SuperFin design leverages the FinFET architecture by delivering an improved gate process, additional gate pitch, and enhanced expiation source/drain. In addition to the SuperFin design, there's also the SuperMIM capacitors which deliver an increment of 5x to the MIM (metal-insulator-metal) capacitance and reduce the overall capacitor resistance by 30%. Intel also points out that its SuperFin and SuperMIM design is an essential technology to uplift performance & add innovations such as enhanced interconnects for data centers. It is likely that Intel's Ice Lake-SP is going to use a similar fabrication process to deliver higher throughput. Intel stated that it had achieved around 17-18% performance uplift over the standard 10nm process node featured on 10th Generation Ice Lake chips while delivering much faster frequencies. Now that's a huge claim, one that can only be tested when the actual CPU is in the hands of testers but this more or less points out that Intel is confident that its 10nm process will be able to match or even exceed TSMC's 7nm process node which is used on the competing AMD Ryzen 4000 'Renoir' APUs. Intel's 10nm Willow Cove CPU & Xe GPU Cores For Tiger Lake The next two key technologies for Intel's Tiger Lake processors are its CPU & GPU core technologies which are powered by Willow Cove and Xe. The Intel Willow Cove architecture is the second newest architecture based on the 10nm process node with the first one being Sunny Cove for Ice Lake CPU generation. The Willow Cove cores are expected to deliver a double-digit IPC gain over Sunny Cove cores. The Willow Cove cores feature a brand new cache design with 1.25 MB of L2 cache and 3 MB of L3 per core. Along with the new cores, we will get cache redesigns as stated above, new transistor-level optimizations, and enhanced security features. One of the key features pointed out for Willow Cove is that it will feature much higher frequencies than Sunny Cove cores at lower voltages. Intel will also be featuring their Xe GPUs on Tiger Lake chips which would deliver a 2x increase in perf over the Gen 11 GPU featured currently on Ice Lake chips. The Intel Xe graphics architecture will be featuring 96 Execution units or 768 cores along with 3.8 MB of L3 cache. These are just tiny details we know at the moment but can expect more to be presented by Raja himself on the 17th of August for the Xe graphics engine. Intel 11th Gen Tiger Lake CPU Block Diagram Coming to the newly unveiled details, Intel has presented both a block diagram and a die shot of its Tiger Lake CPUs. The block diagram mentions everything that is new over Ice Lake chips & also the parts which have been kept the same. First, let's take a look at the similarities between Ice Lake and Tiger Lake CPUs. There are a few that include the DDR4 memory controller which supports 3200 MHz speeds with up to 64 GB capacities. Other controllers such as SGX, Fuse, JTAG, SVID, and OPIO are also similar to the ones used on the Ice Lake chips. The display USB Type-C controller also includes DP 1.4 which was also featured last gen. Tiger Lake CPUs have only a few blocks that are kept similar to Ice Lake. The rest of the chip is all brand new and that can clearly be seen in the block diagram. The major new additions to Tiger Lake CPUs are the Willow Cove cores, Xe LP graphics, and media engine, 12 MB of L3 (last-level cache), a new display engine with support for 8K display (4 pipelines/ 64 GB/s read bandwidth), IPU6 with 6 camera sensors (video up to 4K90, initially at 4K30) and added support for LPDDR5 memory with speeds of up to 5400 MHz (32 GB capacities). The rest of the blocks have received major and minor upgrades over Ice Lake. Intel Tiger Lake CPU SKUs - Core i7-1185G7 With Up To 4.8 GHz Clocks The Intel Tiger Lake CPU family is made up of a total of 9 SKUs, 7 of which will be available this year, and two more variants that will be available next year. The standard variants feature 4 cores and 8 threads and there will also be two 2 core and 4 thread variants. The flagship model is the Core i7-1185G7 which features 4 cores and 8 threads with 5 MB of L2 and 12 MB of L3 cache. The CPU will come with TDPs of 12-28W (Configurable) and feature a base clock of 3.0 GHz, a single-core boost of 4.8 GHz, and an all-core boost clock of 4.3 GHz. The CPU will ship with the Iris Xe GPU with 96 EU or 768 cores that will be operating at a clock speed of 1350 MHz. Intel Tiger Lake CPU I/O - LPDDR5, PCIe 4.0 & Display Capabilities Lastly, we have to talk about the I/O that the Tiger Lake CPUs will be offering. The 11th Gen CPUs will be utilizing a dual coherent fabric for interconnect & are designed purely for high bandwidth operations. As such, the Tiger Lake CPUs will support LPDDR5-5400, LPDDR4X-4667 & DDR4-3200 MHz memory. This will make Tiger Lake CPUs the first x86 mobility platform with support for next-generation LPDDR5 memory (not to be mistaken with DDR5 memory). n addition to that, Tiger Lake CPUs will also feature Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4 support. There will also be PCIe Gen 4.0 support with a full 8 GB/s link provided to the memory interface. Overall, the Tiger Lake CPUs sound very compelling and we can't wait to see the final performance & products that make use of the 11th Generation CPU family from Intel.

The Dutch manufacturer will return to its old ways with a very ambitious business plan. Spyker is one of those brands that, although they have been out of circulation for some years, still continues to steal the hearts of many fans around the world. And it is not for less, since the cars of this Dutch artisan manufacturer were considered true works of art on wheels. After filing for bankruptcy in 2014 and no activity on social media since 2017, the firm will return to the fray thanks to a heavy injection of capital by Boris Rotenberg, investor and owner of SMP Racing, and his business partner, Michail Pessis . Be careful, the plans are really interesting. For starters, Spyker has confirmed that in the near future it will bring the C8 Preliator to the production lines, presented back in 2016 and that curiously its name translated from Latin means "fighter". Likewise, the Spyker B6 Venator will also be manufactured, a concept that was shown in 2013 and that will serve as access to the brand. But what is really important is that Spyker will have its first SUV, which will be based on the Spyker D12 Peking-to-Paris. Without a doubt, this will be a really important model, since it will be in charge of providing volume. If it is a success, the other sports cars will be insured. Through a statement, the brand specified that these three models will start production in 2021. In that same year, the first Spyker agency will be opened, which will be located in the principality of Monaco. A little history Spyker's history is full of ups and downs throughout its nearly 140 years. Founded in 1880 by the Germans Jacobus and Hendrik-Jan Spijker, the brand built floats, cars and even airplanes, before launching some well-known racing and sports models. A Spyker, the PK 14/18, traveled 15 thousand kilometers between Paris and Beijing in 1907 without throwing mechanical faults. And another Spyker, the C4, broke the speed record in 1922 by scoring 120 km / h. As is often the case in these cases, the company did not withstand the ups and downs of the post-war period and stopped operating in 1926. The brand was revived in 1999 by Dutchman Victor Muller with the focus on super sports cars. The C8 Spyder was the first of them, and it was so successful, that Muller had the pleasure of entering Formula One with a team of his own. You know how that ended. In 2010 he decided to buy the remnants of Saab, the Swedish manufacturer that had been thrown away by GM, and the business ended up leading Spyker into bankruptcy, declared at the end of 2014. Just eight months later, Spyker announced that its accounts were in order and that from then on it would dedicate itself to developing electric cars and airplanes, the latter thanks to its association with the North American manufacturer Volta Volare. Months later he presented the C8 Preliator in Geneva, an evolution of his C8 Aileron, equipped with an Audi 525 Hp engine, now joined by the C8 Preliator Spyder, presented a month ago at the same show. This new announcement should be taken in stride, since in 2017 Spyker indicated that thanks to a collaboration agreement with Koenigsegg it could go back to manufacturing cars. And we are still waiting.

The Sinopharm laboratory delegation brought to the country the first tests for the development of the vaccine and in whose trials six thousand volunteers will participate. Scientists from the Sinopharm laboratory in China arrived in Lima on Tuesday to begin the clinical trials in the third phase of the COVID-19 vaccine project, which will be carried out in coordination with the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) and the National University Mayor of San Marcos (UNMSM). The delegation brought to the country the first tests for the development of the vaccine and in whose trials six thousand volunteers will participate. The group of experts was received at the Jorge Chávez International Airport by the Minister of Health, Pilar Mazzetti and the Peruvian Foreign Minister Mario López. The reception also included the participation of the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Peru, Liang Yu. "We are here to support the development of this phase 3 trial, like others that may come, but this is the first and has profound significance," said the Minister of Health. "It is part of the collaboration with the People's Republic of China, we have received support in the health area of about six million dollars. The ambassador and the Chinese people have been with us since the beginning," he added. The application of the tests for the clinical trial will be divided into two groups between the UPCH and the UNMSM. These tests are made up of the Wuhan and Beijing strains and placebos. Last Sunday the first three thousand volunteers registered to receive these tests by the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, whose vaccination process begins on September 8. The registration of the remaining three thousand volunteers in charge of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos is scheduled to take place shortly.

Microsoft has released Edge 85, with a new mode that emulates Internet Explorer so you can browse old legacy websites that won't run in modern browsers. It's a niche problem, but occasionally older websites won't display correctly in Edge, Chrome, Firefox or their derivatives, with images in disarray and menus missing. You're not likely to encounter it often (certainly not frequently enough to keep an outdated browser installed on your desktop) but when it does happen, it's extremely frustrating. Now, when you encounter such a page you can choose to simply re-load it in Internet Explorer without leaving Edge. As Techdows explains, this feature has been available to business users for a little while, but now home users can benefit as well. A blast from the past To enable it, make sure you have the latest version of Edge, then click the menu icon at the top right and select 'Settings'. Select 'Default browser' from the list of options on the left (if you can't see this list, try making the browser window wider). Toggle the switch marked 'Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode' then restart Edge. Now, when you come across an incompatible site, just hit the menu button again, select 'More tools' and choose 'Reload page in Internet Explorer'. Occasionally the option won't be available and will be greyed out, but in our tests that only appeared to be the case on Edge's own settings pages.

As part of an advertising campaign, the eight-cylinder engine was modified and given an extremely aggressive image. Nebulus, the well-known winter clothing brand, decided to run a marketing campaign using a highly customized Audi RS 7 Sportback. As if the normal 600 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque of the German model were not enough, the company turned to HGP Turbo Retrofitting and 811 design to make a series of modifications to the 4.0-liter V8 engine, to obtain more power, and thereby retouch high performance. By altering the electronics, improving the intake system, imposing a new air filter, a better manifold and bigger turbos, the eight-cylinder gains an additional 362 Hp and 449 Nm of torque, for a brutal 962 Hp and 1249 Nm of torque. Although no data has been released on the acceleration capacity, it is a fact that the 0 to 100 km / h makes it less than 2.5 seconds, this is one second less than in the series model. In addition to improving the vehicle's performance through engine adjustments, a recalibration was also carried out on the suspension system, reducing the height of the body from the ground. Regarding aesthetics, Black Box-Richter, the Austrian company specializing in vinyl for automobiles, was used to achieve that the bodywork obtained a matt black appearance with silver decorations. From then on, the car maintains the same style with which it leaves the factory.

Minister Jorge Montoya will have to explain how the intervention took place at the Thomas Restobar nightclub. New images show that the only door to the premises was closed, which contradicts the version that the National Police of Peru initially gave. The Inspection Commission of the Congress of the Republic summoned the Minister of the Interior, Jorge Montoya, for Tuesday, September 1, to answer for the appearance of new images of the police intervention in the Thomas Restobar nightclub, in Los Olivos, which left thirteen dead. Through an official letter, the head of that working group, Edgar Alarcón, indicated that the head of the Minister must report on the intervention carried out by the members of the Green Squad of the National Police of Peru in said establishment. It also specifies that this summons responds to the new images in which "you can see various facts that would be contrary to what was initially declared by the person in charge of the operation." The Commission will meet from 9:15 am, through a digital platform. A recording of the security cameras, which was broadcast by América Noticias, shows that the Police ordered the women in a line on the stairs to leave the premises. In addition, a police officer can be seen standing at the door, which was closed. This record contradicts the version given by the captain of the Police, José Amézquita, who was in charge of the operation and assured that the door was open during the intervention in the place and that it was closed due to the tumult. “The door was open, but with the crowd of people it closed and several people were trapped. Three policemen, including the one who speaks to them. We regret what happened, but this is due to people who do not obey the provisions that are given, "the captain told the press. Thirteen people, twelve women and one man, died on Saturday August 22 after participating in a clandestine party with more than 100 people, which was intervened by the Police.

Upcoming Ampere graphics cards, this time of the Palit flavor, have leaked out on the EEC registry (via Videocardz). We are just 5 days to NVIDIA's announcement of their brand new gaming lineup and speculation and leaks are running rampant as we enter into the crunch time for their next generation of GPUs. The registry features the codenames of NVIDIAs upcoming cards and as decoded by WhyCry they translate to the RTX 3090, RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and (and for the first time) the RTX 3060 respectively. Palits's RTX 3090, RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 graphics cards spotted getting their EEC certification All integrated circuits are required to have EEC certification prior to launch and these are usually a very good indicator of foretelling and confirming various GPUs and launches. That said, while all GPUs that launch have to get an EEC certification not all GPUs that get an EEC certification actually end up on the shelves. With this particular leak, since we are fairly sure they refer to the RTX 3090, RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 (this exists too!) respectively, we will be seeing these graphics cards fairly soon. Point of note: this is the first time we are seeing mention of an RTX 3060 and it is unclear whether this will be a thing. A total of 171 different SKUs were spotted at EEC. The following broad codenames can be seen: NVIDIA Palit RTX 3090 in plain vanilla, T, S and H flavors NVIDIA Palit RTX 3080 in plain vanilla, T, S and H flavors NVIDIA Palit RTX 3070 in plain vanilla, T, S and H flavors NVIDIA Palit RTX 3060 in plain vanilla, T, S and H flavors NVIDIA is shaking things up with the Ampere architecture and we will be seeing what is expected to be a massive leap in performance (driven both by hardware and software) compared to the last generation. If the hype NVIDIA is generating with their ultimate countdown is to be trusted (and you can usually trust NVIDIA when they say it's going to be exciting) then we should have something concrete within just 5 days at the time of writing. What we know about NVIDIA SKUs so far: Since we do not know the confirmed naming schemes yet, I will refer to these boards according to their board numbers and the RTX 2000 series card they are intended to replace. The crown jewel of NVIDIA's lineup is the PG132-10 board with 24GB of vRAM. It is going to be replacing the RTX 2080 Ti and is currently scheduled to launch in the second half of September. We then have the PG132-20 and PG132-30 boards, both of which are replacing the RTX 2080 SUPER graphics card and will have 20GB and 10GB worth of vRAM respectively. The PG132-20 board is going to be launching in the first half of October while the PG132-30 board is going to be launching in mid-September. It is worth adding here that these three parts are likely the SKU10, 20 and 30 we have been hearing about and the SKU20 is going to be targetted dead center at AMD's Big Navi offering (and hence the staggered launch schedule). Since AMD's Big Navi will *probably* have 16GB worth of vRAM, it also explains why NVIDIA wants to go with 20GB. The PG142-0 and PG142-10 are both going to be replacing the RTX 2070 SUPER and will feature 16GB and 8GB worth of vRAM respectively. While the PG142-10 has a known launch schedule in the second half of September, the PG142-0 board has no confirmed launch date yet. Finally, we have the PG190-10 board which is going to be replacing the RTX 2060 SUPER graphics card and will have 8GB of vRAM as well. The launch schedule for this board has not been decided yet either. September is shaping up to be an amazing month of tech enthusiasts with NVIDIA rolling out a brand new architecture (and series of graphics cards) and AMD finally pushing out Big Navi in the following few weeks as well. The Ampere series has had more leaks and rumors than any other series and as we enter into crunch time towards launch, many of these will be debunked or confirmed. We are also waiting to hear about more specifications from our sources and also a confirmation of the process node the Ampere series of GPUs will be manufactured at. Right now, the expected nomenclature of these cards is going to be the RTX 3000 series with a potential RTX 3090 in the mix for the first time as well. But please keep in mind that NVIDIA has previously skipped nomenclature tiers just to discredit the leak scene and may do so again. The shrouds we saw were only in the validation phase and it would be trivial for NVIDIA to change the naming scheme. The board numbers, however, would stay the same. Regardless of what NVIDIA decides to call it, this is shaping up to be one hell of a generation.

The women fishermen in Quilca, a small coastal district, saw a project collapse that would increase their income and that positioned them as an example of fisheries sustainability. As soon as Karina Condori picked up the phone to give this interview, her husband came home with about 20 small fish. The man had gone out a few hours ago with his rope to fish from the rock for lunch that day, but he was lucky and managed to catch dinner as well and even one more meal. Karina's husband is a fisherman, but since March he has not been able to work because the pandemic has almost completely stopped fishing in the port of Quilca, a small coastal district in the Arequipa region where barely 700 people live, including him, his wife and her two children, 9 and 19 years old. On July 1, the Peruvian government lifted the quarantine in much of the country, but Arequipa remains confined due to the large number of infections by COVID-19. For this reason, if in Quilca about 150 boats normally went out to sea, today there are no more than 10, says Hugo Alarcón, the district mayor. Karina has not been able to work either. She is part of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of the Port of Quilca, an initiative that brings together 33 women who work organized either fishing, landing the fish, preparing the nets or ice that the boats carry when they go out to sea, and even coordinating the fishing operations. The association, which is almost eight years old, has allowed the women of Quilca to have an income independent of that of their husbands, all of them fishermen too. For this reason, Karina likes to belong to her "because there are always little things to be able to stand out, not only to depend on the husband and as a woman to get ahead," she says. But the pandemic has stopped everything. It has been more than four months since not a single income reaches Karina's house, except for a 760 soles bond that the government gave her. With that money she was able to buy rice, oil, sugar, noodles, milk, tuna, salt, beans, but all that “I already ate it”, she says. Even so, Karina does not worry because "there is always enough for the pot," she says, like the 20 little fish that she plans to prepare fried and that she will save in part for the days that follow. The women's chain Before the coronavirus reached Peru, Fabiola Oviedo, the president of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of the Port of Quilca, worked for a fish buyer who in turn sold the resource in different markets and fishing terminals in the country. An intermediary, according to the jargon of the business. Fabiola's job consists of making sure that the boats that are going to fish the merchandise for their skipper have everything they need on board to last up to 12 days at sea. For this, the ship's captain receives money in advance to buy, in addition to fuel, food to feed the crew and enough ice to keep the fish on board. Otilia Chacón, another woman from the Association, is in charge of the latter. She sews the 40 or 50 bags of ice that, on average, each boat carries per fishing trip. Then, a man is in charge of loading the bags of 70 kilos each and taking them to the hold of the boat. Days later, when the ship returns, Otilia unloads the fish in boxes. "A person who does not know, goes and says what strength the ladies will have! How do they do it! But it is a matter of habit", says Otilia, although she assures that "not everyone does it either", because each box weighs between 30 kg and 35 kg. Once the job is finished, Otilia receives payment for both the ice and the discharge. About 100 soles per ton divided between two. The profit thus varies depending on how much fish reaches the port and "if they don't bring anything, then neither do we win," says Otilia. Karina also does the same job in the summer, when it is the parakeet (Coryphaena hippurus) season. In winter, on the other hand, she dedicates herself to "harnessing" the nets, that is, putting lead and cork on them. The 33 women that make up the Association thus work in different occupations in the fishing chain. They are daughters, wives, nieces and granddaughters of fishermen. But at the beginning, when they formed the association, Fabiola says that they were criticized "and not only by the fishermen, but also by our own husbands," she says. Furthermore, there were already groups of male workers on the dock and "we are never going to be able to compete with their strength," she acknowledges. However, Fabiola believes that commitment and responsibility are insurmountable and that, for this reason, many fishermen prefer to work with them. Otilia is known in the port of Quilca as La Muñeca "even though I don't have a doll at all," she says. That is the nickname they have given her and by which she is known throughout the southern coast of Peru, because when there is no work in Quilca, Otilia travels all the coves in the area landing fish. With her work she managed to get her four daughters to go to a national university in Arequipa. The oldest, 26, is a social worker and now, in times of a pandemic, she is the only one who is working and contributing to the household economy. The other three have not yet completed their studies in materials engineering, biology and management. Joining together allowed the women to apply for two projects to the National Program for Innovation in Fisheries and Aquaculture (PNIPA) to obtain funds that would help them start a collective business to give added value to Quilca's fish products and thus increase their income. One of them consists of having a freezing tunnel, that is, “like a large frigider”, explains Fabiola, where up to two tons of parakeet can be stored, which is, together with the squid (Dosidiscus gigas), the main resource that fishermen extract from this cove. "There are seasons when the parakeet gets quite cheap so we can freeze it and remove it when the price improves", says the president of the Association. The idea also includes offering the fish, packed and vacuum sealed, to supermarkets during the months when there is no tourism. The second project consists of a small steam drying and smoking plant. "It's like an oven where the fish is dried and smoked," says Fabiola. The project includes counters, refrigerators and a sealing machine to be able to sell the product to tourists under vacuum and with its own brand. The women were excited. The good idea they were up to was an example of a good organization to achieve sustainable fishing. Coastal communities, "in many cases end up living day by day and in order to support their families, they extract more resources, build more boats, which in the long term becomes unsustainable," explains Nicolás Rovegno, specialist in the WWF marine program. The objective of the Quilca Association of Entrepreneurs Women was aimed precisely at obtaining higher profits without increasing the extraction of marine resources. The pandemic, however, truncated the plans. The pandemic stopped everything The parakeet and the squid are the two main species that are fished in Quilca. The first is caught in summer, between December and February, and the second in winter, from June. Men and women eagerly await these two seasons which are the ones that allow them to save for the rest of the year. When it's time for the parakeet, women can make between 70 and 80 soles a day by making ice and unloading the boats, Fabiola says. But the most anticipated season is that of the squid "because it is the one that moves the most people and we exceed 100 a day," she says. However, the Consortium for Economic and Social Research of Peru warns that dependence on a single resource or two makes Quilca a vulnerable district since if these resources are scarce, fishermen have no alternatives. In addition, the Consortium warns that this vulnerability is exacerbated if it is considered that fishermen depend on an intermediary to sell their products. If these actors were absent, the impact on the fishermen would be inevitable. The problem is that in Quilca both circumstances arrived almost simultaneously and "the municipality is falling apart," says the Mayor. "Before the quarantine came, the parakeet season was bad," says Karina. The last time her husband went fishing he came back with 600 kilos of parakeet, but usually he comes with a ton and a half or two. In addition, Karina adds that even though the parakeet can cost 14 soles per kilo, last summer it did not cost more than 7 soles. In short, "there was little fish and it was also very cheap," she says. As they did not have higher income, they could not save or buy food for the rest of the year as they usually do. "You couldn't buy or save bread for May," says Karina. But they still had the squid season left and maybe they would be lucky there. However, the pandemic came a month later. On March 15, the Peruvian government declared a state of emergency, closed its borders and imposed a mandatory quarantine to contain the pandemic. Only essential sectors were allowed to continue operating, including artisanal fishing for human consumption. However, many fishermen decided not to leave their homes for fear of contagion. According to the mayor of Quilca, there are currently between 24 to 30 people infected by COVID-19 in the district and not a single person has died, but Quilca only has a small health post. “If something happens to us or our children, there is nothing at the post,” says Fabiola. The closest hospital is an hour away but it is small and cannot cope, so in the event of any emergency, the inhabitants of Quilca would have to go to Arequipa. This city, however, is four hours away and “we live from day to day. We are not going to have the money needed to travel there ”, he explains. In June the squid season began and the fishermen organized to get some boats out, but just as happened with the parakeet, they returned from the sea with almost nothing. “We hoped with the squid to be able to recover but that resource did not come out either. There is nothing. There is no squid on the entire coast. Everything has come together, "says Otilia, although Fabiola adds that anyway" if there were, there would be no one to buy it because there is no export because of the pandemic, "he says. Four are the intermediaries who buy the resource obtained by the Quilca fishermen, among them Fabiola's boss, so she too has lost her job. Without money, the women of the Quilca Women's Association were also unable to continue advancing in their projects, although these had been well rated by the PNIPA. "The only thing missing was to sign the contract to negotiate which companies were going to sell us the implements that we needed," says Fabiola. They also had to contribute about 5,000 soles per project to be awarded PNIPA funds. But the bad parrot season made it impossible for women to raise the money in time and the pandemic ended up driving away these possibilities. "Everything has come to nothing," says Fabiola. For now, the inhabitants of the Quilca cove support each other so that there is no shortage of food. “As the place where we live is not that big, it is like a single family because we all know each other. We shake hands, ”says Karina. The women go to the dock to prepare the ice for the few boats that go out to sea and in return the fishermen pay them with some fish to take home and cook. Mayor Hugo Alarcón acknowledges that the municipality has exhausted the resources it had and that, according to what he says, "they are extremely low" so it will not be possible to financially support the fishermen of the cove. In fact, he points out that in Quilca “we don't have water and sewage. Imagine a town that has neither water nor sewage. It is a backward town, ”he says. The municipality received 200 tests from the Ministry of Health to rule out Covid-19 infections, however, these were not enough. According to Alarcón, the municipality is managing at least 200 more tests so that fishermen can go fishing and thus be able to reactivate the district's ailing economy.

NVIDIA has just announced the GeForce MX 450 discrete graphics chip for mobile platforms which include notebooks and laptops. The GeForce MX 450 is aimed at entry-level notebooks with a focus on performance faster than integrated graphics solutions while delivering increased efficiency in a range of workloads. NVIDIA GeForce MX 450 Dedicated Discrete GPU Brings Turing To Entry-Tier Notebooks - GDDR6 & PCIe 4.0 Support While the official product page for the GeForce MX450 at NVIDIA's official webpage doesn't say a lot regarding the specifications, there are some details such as the features supported by the GeForce MX class GPUs. The NVIDIA GeForce MX450 is going to be based on the Turing GPU architecture. This is at least what the leaks have indicated. There are a list of technologies that the GeForce MX450 GPU will support such as (via Computerbase): NVIDIA Optimus technology NVIDIA GPU Boost NVIDIA Game Ready driver NVIDIA CUDA technology PCI Express 4.0 Microsoft DirectX 12 Supports Vulkan 1.2 OpenGL 4.6 support OpenCL 1.2 support In terms of technical specifications, the NVIDIA GeForce MX450 is listed to feature both GDDR5 and GDDR6 memory. Previously leaked information from NotebookCheck suggests that the MX450 will utilize the Turing TU117 GPU core which is based on the 12nm FinFET process node. The MX450 is said to feature up to 896 CUDA cores and a base clock of 540 MHz. The memory is supposed to be running at 10 Gbps across a 64-bit bus which should deliver 80 GB/s bandwidth to the GPU. The G5 memory runs at a slower clock rate of 7 Gbps and should deliver 56 GB/s bandwidth to the GPU. As for the TDP, the NVIDIA GeForce MX450 will feature a 25W configuration but we cannot confirm if that's the base variant with GDDR5 memory or the faster GDDR6 variant. The NVIDIA GeForce MX 430 is also expected to launch soon and could feature 768-896 CUDA cores. The addition of PCIe 4 isn't a big deal as it doesn't contribute to extra performance. The standard GeForce RTX & GeForce GTX Turing offers still utilize the PCIe 3.0 protocol on mobile platforms. Based on the numbers, we can expect anywhere between 80-90% performance of the GeForce GTX 1650 which would be amazing for an entry-level 25W laptop chip. A leaked Tiger Lake laptop with a GeForce MX450 graphics option leaked out a while ago from Lenovo. It looks like the MX450 will be primarily featured on Intel Tiger Lake-based laptops since the 11th Gen Intel lineup is the only note book family that is compliant with the PCIe Gen 4.0 protocol. It's also noteworthy that Intel's Tiger Lake Xe GPUs featured on the same laptops are also NVIDIA's main competitor in this segment. It will definitely be an interesting comparison between the new GeForce MX Turing based GPUs and the integrated parts from AMD and Intel in the second half of 2020 as all three vendors try to offer extra graphics performance in entry-level notebook designs.
