Ola S1 was launched on Monday as the company's second electric scooter to debut in the country. The scooter was first announced by the company last year, and is a more affordable version of the Ola S1 Pro. The Ola S1 has a battery capacity of 3KWh and has a top speed of 95kmph. It offers an ARAI range of 131km and normal range of 101km, according to the company. The electric scooter also comes with software features like music, navigation, a companion app, reverse mode, and will support updates into MoveOS 3 — which will be launched in Diwali — and beyond. At a virtual event on Tuesday, the company also announced that it will launch its first electric car in 2024. Ola says that its first electric four-wheeler will go from 0-100kmph within 4 seconds and will have a range of over 500km on a single charge. It is also claimed to deliver a drag coefficient of less than 0.21 and will feature a glass roof. Ola says that the vehicle will also support assisted driving and feature keyless and handle-less doors. Ola also announced a new Khaki Green colour option for the Ola S1 Pro. The company will produce 1947 units of the limited-edition scooter, which will be priced at Rs. 1,49,999. The ‘Freedom Edition' Ola S1 Pro will be available for purchase via the Ola app. Ola S1 price in India, availability Ola S1 price in India is set at Rs. 99,999, which is introductory ex-showroom price, including FAME II subsidy and excludes state subsidies, according to the company. It will be available in Coral Glam, Jet Black, Liquid Silver, Neo Mint, and Porcelain White colour options. Reservations for the Ola S1 begin today at Rs. 499, and customers who avail of the early access offer will be able to make the final payment on September 1. Meanwhile, sales for the Ola S1 will begin on September 2, and deliveries will begin on September 7. Buyers can also avail of EMI offers starting at Rs. 2,999, with a loan processing fee waiver, according to Ola. It is equipped with 110/70 R12 tyres, rear mono-shock suspension, and front single fork suspension. On the software front, the Ola S1 runs on MoveOS 2, which offers features navigation, music playback, companion app, and reverse mode. The electric scooter, like the Ola S1 Pro, will receive an update to MoveOS 3 around Diwali, which will add new features including moods, digital key sharing, proximity unlock, improved regen braking, and a document feature, according to the company.

The world’s first Microsoft Excel-based NFT art collection has gone on sale as part of an effort to raise funds for the victims of the war in Ukraine. Commissioned by Datarails, a financial planning platform that integrates closely with Excel, the five pieces of pixel art include portraits of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other scenes from the conflict. Although Excel art is nothing new in itself, and others have turned spreadsheet doodles into NFTs before, the Datarails sale marks the first time an XLS file (the typical Microsoft Excel file format) has been tokenized and placed on a blockchain. NFTs, but different NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are a type of collectible that demonstrates ownership of a particular digital asset, whether that be an image, video or piece of music. Although the asset itself can be freely replicated and shared, the associated NFT is unique and can be traded on the secondary market. However, NFTs have been the target of plenty of criticism since exploding into the public consciousness last year. Some people purchased NFTs at extortionate prices on the implied promise of capital returns, only for their valuation to plummet(opens in new tab), while others have had their tokens stolen by scammers and hackers. The NFT revolution was also supposed to give up-and-coming artists a new way to monetize their work. But they have also often been used by celebrities and other high-profile individuals as a means of turning a quick buck. Nonetheless, Datarails believes its NFT sale is the ideal vehicle for generating funds for a good cause. In this scenario, the NFTs are not investment vehicles, but more like a perk attached to a traditional donation. “Excel is the canvas used by anyone in finance to create ideas, innovation and financial models. In this experiment we took this concept a step further,” said Didi Gurfinkel, co-founder and CEO at DataRails. “Excel has literally been used as a palette to produce a one-of-a-kind experience for CryptoArt and spreadsheet enthusiasts to own. We hope this project will help show the broad canvas of Excel while raising funds for the plight of those in Ukraine.” Each NFT will be sold at a price of 1 ETH, which currently equates to roughly $1,900. In total, the sale should therefore generate close to $10,000, all of which will be donated to Heart to Heart International, a non-profit dedicated to improving access to healthcare worldwide. Asked why DataRails chose specifically for Heart to Heart International to receive the proceeds of the NFT sale, over the many other charities working to support the victims of the war in Ukraine, Gurfinkel had the following to say: “Heart to Heart International is a fantastic charity whose mission we believe in. It improves healthcare access around the world by ensuring quality care is provided equitably in medically under-resourced communities and in disaster areas including the situation in Ukraine.”

New information regarding Intel's 14th Gen Meteor Lake CPUs has been revealed in the company's Open Source database by Coelacanth-Dream. As per the details, it looks like Meteor Lake CPUs will be a refinement of the existing Golden Cove cores while featuring a brand new architecture for the E-Cores. Intel 14th Gen Meteor Lake CPUs: Redwood Cove P-Cores With Same Architecture & Tweaks, Crestmont E-Cores With New Architecture The details reveal that Intel's 14th Gen Meteor Lake CPUs will once again utilize a hybrid approach which shouldn't be a surprise by now. The Native Model ID for each hybrid CPU family has been listed, starting with the Lakefield which has 0x0 "Core" and "0x0" Atom family. Lakefield SOC was Intel's first design based on a hybrid architecture approach. Since then, Intel has launched its 12th Gen Alder Lake and will soon be launching the upcoming 13th Gen Raptor Lake CPUs. The Intel 12th Gen Alder Lake CPUs feature the 0x0 "Core" also known as the Golden Cove P-Core and 0x1 "Atom" also known as the Gracemont E-Core. Intel's 13th Gen Raptor Lake CPUs will retain this design, however, due to various changes made on a core level (not to be mistaken with Uarch), the company has decided to rename its P-Cores to Raptor Cove. We have seen some changes such as cache bump, and clock bump but those are hardly any architectural uplifts. Now coming to 14th Gen Meteor Lake CPUs, the Redwood Cove P-Cores are once again expected to be based on the 0x1 "Core" design which means that while there will be Core-level upgrades, the architecture will more or less remain the same. On the other hand, the "Atom" E-Cores known as Crestmont, will be upgraded to 0x2 Native Model. OneRaichu explains that Redwood Cove will not widen the architecture as much as Sunny Cove cores and will mainly focus on instruction execution efficiency. It can be regarded as 0x1.5 since there are talks of improvements to branch prediction, micro-operation fusion, instruction dispatch, register remake, and EU execution efficiency. While Intel Meteor Lake CPUs utilize the brand new "Intel 4" process node, the node may not be as mature as 10ESF and we can see a clock regression that will be unable to match the high frequencies that Raptor Lake has to offer. Meanwhile, the IPC will be better than Raptor Lake but single-threaded performance won't see a huge gain. Previous rumors had already hinted that Meteor Lake will offer single-digit IPC gains vs Raptor Lake but those will be enough to keep AMD CPUs at bay for a while until Arrow Lake comes out in 2024.

iPhone 14 series has been part of several leaks and rumours for the past few months. The upcoming Apple iPhone lineup could include four models — iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max, and iPhone 14 Pro Max — and they are expected to be launched on September 13. The iPhone 14 Pro models were earlier speculated to come with increased storage capacity over the previous models. They were claimed to start with 256GB of storage, compared to 128GB of the iPhone 13 Pro models. Now, in a new development, a market research analyst suggests that upcoming Pro models will continue to offer 128GB of storage. Earlier, research firm TrendForce reportedly suggested that the iPhone 14 Pro models will start with 256GB storage. Now, a new report by MacRumors, quoting Haitong International Securities Tech Research Analyst Jeff Pu, said that the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro models will continue to offer 128GB of storage as its predecessors, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro. The analyst has reportedly mentioned that the iPhone 14 Pro models will be available in the same storage capacities — 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB — as the iPhone 13 Pro models. Earlier this week, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that iPhone 14 Pro models could be launched at a higher price than their predecessors. The ASP of the iPhone 14 Pro series is estimated to climb by about 15 percent to $1,000 - $1,050 (roughly Rs. 79,000 – Rs. 83,000) for the upcoming iPhone 14 series, compared to the iPhone 13 series ASP. The iPhone 13 Pro was unveiled in India last year with a price tag of Rs. 1,19,900 for the base 128GB storage model. Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 14 series on September 13. The iPhone 14 Pro models could be powered by the new A16 Bionic chip. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max, on the other hand, are expected to pack the A15 Bionic chip that is available on the current iPhone 13 devices.

An upcoming update will see Microsoft Teams get a welcome accessibility boost by tweaking the way its video transcription works with recorded meetings. An entry added to the company’s Microsoft 365 roadmap(opens in new tab) outlines how, “Transcription will be turned on together with Recording if the ‘Record automatically’ meeting option is on.” What this means for end users and admins is that, when a meeting organizer enables ‘Record automatically,’ speech transcription will be enabled by default (as long as it is allowed by admins). Microsoft Teams transcription Microsoft hopes that this change will help to make meeting recordings more accessible, while requiring no additional input or setup from organizers. In the first instance, this feature looks set to be coming to desktop versions of the Microsoft Teams app - an environment where most business users veer towards. That’s not to say that web and mobile versions may not get similar features in the future. In a bid to make its platform as accessible as possible, Microsoft is pushing the update through the development process quickly, and general availability is set to be by the end of August 2022. Since the pandemic, competition among video conferencing suites has been heated as they all fight for the top spot. As such, any new features have quickly been copied and replicated by all of the big players. For exmaple, Microsoft Teams seems to have imitated one of Zoom’s party pieces, which allows the video calling platforms to record and send short video clips to colleagues, which can be handy if somebody is away but you don’t want them to miss an important company announcement. HBO has ordered a pilot for a satirical TV series based on superhero filmmaking. Titled The Franchise, the half-hour episodic show will be directed by Veep creator Armando Iannucci. He will be joined by Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes, to narrate a tale of a dysfunctional movie set, as they navigate through the “joyous hellscape of franchise superhero movie-making.” Variety first learned of the project, reporting that Mendes came up with the concept for the show. There is no word on a release window as of now. Ianucci, who most might recognise as the creator of HBO comedy series, such as Julia Louis-Dreyfus-led Veep and the Hugh Laurie-led Avenue 5, will serve as an executive producer on the show alongside Mendes (Skyfall). The script was written by Jon Brown (Succession) and Keith Akushie, with Ianucci contributing to the pilot. All three writers have been known to create deadbeat, satirical humour via their writing, which makes them a logical choice. Succession was nominated for eight Emmy Awards this year, including one for Outstanding Drama Series. Brown had previously worked with Iannucci on both Veep and Avenue 5, with the former being a mockumentary on the inner workings of the American government. In fact, the idea was adopted from the original BBC Four series, The Thick of It, which dealt with similar instances, but from a British perspective. For Mendes, this would mark his first small-screen project, as he collaborates with Ianucci on episode one. This would also be his first comedy project in years, since 1999's American Beauty starring the disgraced Kevin Spacey in the lead. His frequent collaborator, Pippa Harris, will return as producer, with Nicolas Brown and Julie Pastor — all three produced 2020's Oscar-nominated 1917. Working on some of the biggest blockbusters must translate to Mendes bringing in some technical expertise for The Franchise — which after all, is based on superheroes. Making fun of superhero movies is the new trend, as evidenced by the hype surrounding Amazon's The Boys. However, dealing with it from a filmmaking angle might be difficult, as you must avoid coming off as pretentious. A good reference point would be Shinichirou Ueda's One Cut of the Dead, which deals with a similar film production setting involving zombies. The biggest feature we’re expecting with iOS 16 is customizable lock screens, but in the latest beta, Apple has quietly added a feature that some users might find even more useful. Or rather, it’s brought back a feature that never should have left. If you have the fifth iOS 16 beta then you’ll find there’s a toggle to enable battery percentage on the status bar, so you can see at a glance exactly how much battery your iPhone has remaining, rather than relying on a fairly vague visual indication. This is a feature Apple used to offer, but the company removed it for phones with a notch, as the notch encroached on the top edge of the display meant there was less space for additional information in the status bar. So it’s good to see it returning here. The implementation isn’t perfect, however – with the battery percentage enabled, the actual battery icon reportedly appears full until the battery drops to 20% or below, which some users are finding confusing. But at least you now have the choice. MacRumors(opens in new tab) reports that the battery percentage toggle also isn’t available on the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 11 or iPhone XR. It’s not clear why that is, but perhaps it’s again a space issue, due to the phones being smaller or the notch taking up more space. Of course, this is just a beta, so it’s possible that when the finished version of iOS 16 launches this feature will be available for those phones too, and maybe it will have been tweaked so that the battery icon still displays the current battery level as well. There’s also an outside chance that this feature won’t make the cut at all, but we certainly hope it does. Analysis: an obvious option that never should have been removed A battery percentage indicator is such a useful and obvious feature to have at a glance, and it’s baffling that Apple ever removed it. The current battery indicator is better than nothing, but it can’t provide more than a vague indication of battery level, and you shouldn’t have to swipe to the Control Center to find the percentage every time. On phones without a notch, such as the iPhone SE (2022), Apple places the percentage next to the indicator, so you can get the best of both worlds and, of course, there’s no space for this implementation in phones with a notch. That’s understandable, but if Apple was only going to offer either a percentage or an indicator, arguably the former is more useful. Or better yet it could have given people the choice, as it essentially has in this latest beta. That this took so long to happen is baffling, but it’s nice to finally see it, and it could help make iOS 16 a big upgrade over iOS 15.

AMD's motherboard partners have revealed some stunning AM5 designs for Ryzen 7000 "Zen 4" CPUs which should offer great overclocking and memory support however, the red team hasn't allowed their partners to reveal any information in regards to EXPO or Raphael overclocking yet. We discussed with our sources why that is the case and we have some good news and also some bad news. AMD’s Ryzen 7000 “Zen 4” CPUs Geared For Memory Overclocking, DDR5-6000 With EXPO To Be The Sweet Spot As we already know, the AMD Ryzen Desktop CPUs feature three distinct clock speeds as a part of their internal memory structure, these include: Infinity Fabric Clock (FCLK): Governs how quickly CPU cores can communicate across CPU dies and with SOC controllers (e.g. PCIe, SATA, USB) Memory Controller (UCLK): Governs how quickly the memory controller can ingest/exgest commands from RAM. Memory Clock (MCLK): The frequency of your main system memory. This is to remain the case for AMD's Ryzen 7000 "Zen 4" Desktop CPUs. One big change for the Zen 4 chips for consumer platforms will be the new EXPO technology which is also known as Extended Profiles For Overclocking and is a redone XMP design for the next-generation of AM5 CPUs. AMD's technical representatives have already highlighted DDR5 memory overclocking to be a big deal on Raphael CPUs but at the same time, motherboard vendors aren't allowed to talk about it till later this month. From what we have learned, it looks like AMD's Ryzen 7000 Zen 4 CPUs will most definitely have DDR5-6000 as their sweet spot, allowing a 1:1 IFC ratio. A 1:1 ratio means that the memory is running with the same frequency as the memory controller on the processor and that should offer a best-case scenario. With Alder, Intel has broken down the memory ranks into two categories, a 2:1 mode known as Gear 2 which is the default for DDR5, and a 4:1 model known as Gear 4. The advantage that a 1:1 brings to the table is that it will allow for lower latencies and a balanced speed while a higher ratio will allow for better overclocking, & faster data transfer rates but will also lead to poor latencies. AMD Ryzen 3000 "Zen 2" Sweet Spot - DDR4-3800 AMD Ryzen 5000 "Zen 3" Sweet Spot - DDR4-4000 AMD Ryzen 7000 "Zen 4" Sweet Spot - DDR5-6000 So DDR5-6000 for AMD Ryzen 7000 "Zen 4" CPUs already sounds great for AM5 and that will be DDR5-5600 by default. Higher frequency DIMMs are supported but as soon as you go above the DDR5-6000 limit, you will drop down to a 1:2 IFC. We are told that DDR5-6400 running at 1:2 will produce poor results and is not recommended if you are looking for better gaming performance. Furthermore, it also looks like X670E/X670, while designed for overclocking, won't actually get the best memory overclocking motherboards as those are reserved for the B650E chipsets. Gigabyte confirmed that they will be offering the Tachyon with two DDR5 DIMM slots on a B650(E) chipset but we will have to wait sometime to see that motherboard in action. The X670E and X670 boards will support both overclocking and undervolting for Ryzen 7000 "Zen 4" CPUs but to what extent that is allowed purely depends on AMD. Now I did mention in the beginning that there's a bad part to this news too. You see, AM4 has been around for almost 5 years and even now, there are several issues related to its AGESA firmware on various motherboards. We also saw that DDR4 memory support wasn't as swift in the beginning & many revisions had to be made before the platform entered a stable state. The same is going to be the case with AM5 as it is a fresh start with DDR5 memory and also AMD's first platform using the newer memory standard. We are told that with AM5, AMD is shipping a brand new firmware which starts at 1001/1002 (the current internal version is 1002, the original version was 0070 from January 2022). There's still a lot of work that needs to be made and while we will get a stable platform at the launch next month, there will still be compatibility issues and such that users might face. Overall, Ryzen 7000 CPUs are looking to offer better efficiency than Intel's Raptor Lake CPUs which are going all out to achieve the required performance to tackle Zen 4 parts. Both lineups are launching this fall so stay tuned for more information.

It was reported last month that Microsoft is switching to a new development schedule for Windows. Windows 11 was also reportedly said to be getting a feature called 'Privacy Auditing' that will help users look at the apps accessing their microphone, camera, and location data. After months of preparation and speculation, the merger between Google Duo and Meet is finally underway, with the first users seeing the changes on Android devices. Google has decided to combine its two video calling apps to offer a more comprehensive service that it says will benefit all kinds of users. However, the initial merging has caused some confusion, with different app names and functions already puzzling users. Here's what you need to know about the new Google Duo and Meet partnership. Google Duo and Meet - what's happening? First released back in 2016, Google Duo will soon become Google Meet as the company looks to combine its consumer and enterprise tools into a single platform. Users logging in to the Google Duo app over the last few weeks will have seen an alert outlining how the service will soon become Meet, "with a new name and icon, and more features like background effects." Asides from the name change, Google says users shouldn't see too much disruption, with the two services already offering pretty similar features. However, Google Duo users will now be able to enjoy features such as in-meeting chat, virtual backgrounds and visual effects, and being able to start a call with up to 100 participants. Now, the latest Android update for Google Duo is making the change official with the new Meet branding. After installing, the original Google Duo blue icon remains until a user opens the app. There, they are welcomed with a “Duo has been upgraded to Meet” notification prompt, which when accepted, changes the app design to the new Meet branding. iOS and iPad Google Duo users aren't seeing the change just yet, but Google has said it is aiming to switch all customers over to Meet by the end of September. The Google Duo web app also remains with its original branding for now, but Google has also said this will redirect to the Google Meet page within the next few weeks. For those users that have already updated (including TechRadar Pro) this has led to a strange in-between setting where we now have two apps, both entitled "Google Meet (originally Duo)" on our devices - something the company will hopefully amend soon. How do I get it? The Google Duo app listing still remains on the Play Store and iOS App Store for now, so users can download and install in the usual fashion. Users only need to be signed in with a Google account in order to try the new version of Meet and enjoy all its features, as accounts set up with only a phone number won't be able to use meetings. All Duo user conversation history, contacts, and messages will continue to be saved in the app, Google added, and there will be no new app to download or extra costs to pay. Google Duo users are also reassured that, "video calling capabilities are still available in the updated Duo app on mobile devices at no cost. Conversation history, contacts, and messages remain."

Intel's Core i9-13900K Raptor Lake CPU benchmarks just keep pouring in a whole two months prior to its expected launch. The latest benchmarks come from OneRaichu who shows the max potential of the chip with an "Unlimited Power" setting and a default boost frequency of 5.8 GHz. Intel Core i9-13900K Raptor Lake CPU Runs at 5.8 GHz & 350W By Default Using "Unlimited Power" Setting, 67% Faster Than 5950X In Cinebench The Intel Core i9-13900K Raptor Lake CPU sample tested here seems to be a retail chip that features 24 cores and 32 threads in an 8 P-Core and 16 E-Core configuration. The CPU carries a total of 68 MB of cache and we can tell that this is just a better "Retail-Ready" sample based on its clock speed alone. The chip retains a maximum boost clock of 5.8 GHz across 2 cores & 5.5 GHz frequency across all 8 P-Cores. The exact test configuration wasn't revealed but OneRaichu tested the chips with two profiles, one with the standard "Limited Power" and the other with the "Unlimited Power" setting. Using the first setting, the chip achieved a single-core score of 2290 points and a multi-core score of 35,693 points with a maximum power draw of 253W. The "Unlimited Power" setting removes all shackles & offers the full potential of the CPU. With the new profile, the Intel Core i9-13900K Raptor Lake CPU posted a single-core score of 2288 points which is the same as the first setting but it's the multi-thread CPU score that saw a huge boost. The Cinebench R23 multi-thread score jumped to 40,616 points, that's a 14% boost over the standard power profile. At the same time, the CPU's power consumption also saw a dramatic increase from 253W to 345W which is something that we mentioned exclusively a few days ago. That's a 36% increase in power for a 14% performance gain so definitely not the best performance efficiency gain here but those who don't care about their power bills would definitely end up using the "Unlimited Power" profile for the best performance. Compared to its predecessor, the Core i9-12900K, the Intel Core i9-13900K offers a performance boost of up to 48% (with Unlimited Power) and 30% (with Limited Power). Versus the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, this is a massive 67% performance increase (with Unlimited Power) and even with Limited Power, the Raptor Lake chip scores a respectable 47% performance increase. Intel Core i9-13900K vs Core i9-12900K at "Unlimited Power" 350W - 48% Faster Intel Core i9-13900K vs Core i9-12900K at "Limited Power" 250W - 30% Faster Intel Core i9-13900K vs Ryzen 9 5950X at "Unlimited Power" 350W - 67% Faster Intel Core i9-13900K vs Ryzen 9 5950X at "Limited Power" 250W - 48% Faster Now to make this benchmark a bit more interesting, we know that the AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs are expected to offer a 35% multi-threaded performance increase in Cinebench over the Zen 3 parts. Here, we see a power-limited Core i9-13900K offering a 48% performance boost over the Ryzen 9 5950X at 253W and we know that Ryzen 7000 CPUs have a maximum PPT of 230W. So that's a 20 Watt difference while the multi-threading performance of the flagship 13900K might end up a bit higher (double-digit gain) over Ryzen 7000 flagship (for an 8% wattage difference). Overall this looks to be some mighty good multi-core performance for the upcoming Raptor Lake chips. We still want to wait for some detailed power and temperature figures but one thing is for sure, in MT-tasks, Raptor Lake might give AMD's Raphael a hard time. The Intel 13th Gen Raptor Lake Desktop CPUs including the flagship Core i9-13900K is expected to launch in October on the Z790 platform. The CPUs will be going up against AMD's Ryzen 7000 CPU lineup which also launches in Fall 2022.
