Rabat - Figures released recently by the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) have placed Morocco as the third most visited Arab country in 2022, with 11 million tourists coming to the north African country. Saudi Arabia ranked first with 18 million inbound visitors, while the UAE came in second with nearly 15 million. The figures reflected the first three quarters of the year. Morocco also ranked highly on the UNWTO’s Barometer for 2022 for its performance based on receipts, achieving a 6% increase over 2019 and ranking in the global top 10. The UNWTO added that 2023 could see a return to pre-pandemic levels of tourism in Europe and the Middle East, with countries like Morocco, Turkiye, and France making significant recoveries to their tourism numbers. The tourism and travel sector in Morocco has been showing signs of recovery throughout the year, after the COVID-19 pandemic severely limited it. With travel and hygiene restrictions lifted, more tourists have been entering Morocco to enjoy its tourist destinations. In September, Morocco’s National Airports Office (ONDA) announced that PCR tests and vaccines would no longer be mandatory to enter the country, removing one of the biggest obstacles for visitors. Asia remains the one region lagging behind in terms of recovery, possibly due to COVID-19 restrictions remaining strict in some Asian countries, most notably China. An exclusive report published by The Hollywood Reporter reveals Amazon's intention to craft an interconnected universe based on the Tomb Raider IP, spanning the upcoming new game and projects in film and television. Dmitri M. Johnson's dj2 Entertainment is attached to the project. The company is very active in adapting games for either film or TV; they worked on the Sonic the Hedgehog movie and signed up to adapt Life Is Strange and Disco Elysium. dj2 Entertainment is also working on a Tomb Raider animated series alongside Legendary TV; this show will air next year on Netflix with Hayley Atwell voicing Lara Croft. The overall Tomb Raider deal is said to be one of the largest investments made by Amazon after The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power, for which they spent $250 million on rights alone. THR was able to provide additional details on the film series. Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), reportedly a big fan of the franchise, is attached to write and executive producer, but she won't be starring in the TV series. Other executive producers mentioned include Ryan Andolina, Amanda Greenblatt, and Dmitri M. Johnson. If the plan is to create a Tomb Raider universe, then it stands to reason that both the film and TV adaptations will have to take into account the upcoming game, which was announced by Crystal Dynamics in April 2022. We learned a bit more about it last month when Amazon was revealed to be the publisher. The new Tomb Raider entry, powered by Epic's Unreal Engine 5, will feature a confident and multidimensional hero Lara Croft in an environment that rewards exploration and creative pathfinding, with mind-bending puzzles to solve and a wide variety of enemies to face and overcome. Minisforum has been around since 2012 and has offered some really innovative designs, mostly in the Mini PC segment. The company has a wide variety of options featuring Intel and AMD CPUs but their Venus lineup is definitely one of the most interesting ones, packing AMD's latest Ryzen APUs and powerful integrated graphics which will be more than enough for a casual gaming session or a performance-focused compute workload. Minisforum recently introduced the UM690 in its Venus lineup, packing AMD's flagship Rembrandt Ryzen 6000 APU, the Ryzen 9 6900HX. The Venus UM690 is a powerhouse with lots going for it and comes in two variants, a standalone bare-bone kit to configure yourself for as low as $499 US while the fully decked kit can be purchased for $929 US & gives you a 1 TB SSD plus 64 GB memory. The variant we got was configured with 16 GB memory and 512 GB storage and retails for $649 US. Minisforum Venus UM690 Mini PC - Specifications At A Glance Minisforum has already launched several AMD Ryzen 5000 APU-powered Mini PCs including the EliteMini X500, the Elitemini HX90, the UM590, and the DeskMini HM90. So now the company has decided to shift gears and focus on the Ryzen 6000 series. There's also the Ryzen 7000 products that will be heading out later this year as supply gets better. Once again, the UM690 aims to offer the best-in-class Mini PC performance utilizing AMD's latest hardware. Coming to the specifications, the Minisforum Venus UM690 rocks the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX CPU which features 8 cores, 16 threads, 20 MB of cache (L3+L2 combined), and a boost clock of up to 4.9 GHz. We got our DIMMs to run at 5600 Mbps which is a pretty decent boost over the reference DDR5-4800 speeds. We also set the APU to its 54W profile which should also provide a boost in the CPU performance. Other specs for the Minisforum UM690 include 16 GB DDR5-4800 memory. This isn't soldered and instead features a SO-DIMM design so users can completely upgrade it as they wish. Storage comes in the form of a single M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD ad a single 2.5-inch SATA HDD. There's no HDD on the pre-configured units but users can easily upgrade that by disassembling the case which is a simple process. Following are the main configurations of the UM690 available through MInisforum: For I/O, you will be getting 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, a 2.5GbE RJ45 LAN port, a DC19V input on the back, and a Clear CMOS button, a USB4 port, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, a 3.5mm Combo Jack, a DMIC port and a Power button on the front. There's also full support for WiFi6 and Bluetooth 5.2 functionality. ATX 3.0 power supplies have started to become common ground as more companies unveil their products for modern-day GPUs. So back to the RTX 4070 Ti, in our own tests, we saw the particular graphics card to be extremely efficient and offer gaming performance that is slightly faster than the RTX 3090 Ti at less than 1/2 the power draw. But even an efficient card such as the RTX 4070 Ti can sometimes face those rare power spikes and excursions that we just mentioned above. Following is the raw data provided by MSI which gives us a look at the peak power that the card can hit when running Cyberpunk 2077 in both stock and overclocked conditions: You can see above that the max power spikes can hit almost 1000W, that's 3.5x higher than the reference TGP of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics card. In 3DMark, you can even exceed the 1000W rating which a regular ATX 2.0 PSU rated at 750/850W wouldn't have handled as well since their OPP or Over-Power-Protection is rated at around 120-130% above the normal usage & in these examples, we can see the power draw exceeding that limit. One should remember that power spikes are an occurrence on all modern-day GPUs. While the RTX 4070 Ti was used as an example, all NVIDIA RTX 30/40 & AMD Radeon RX 6000/7000 can yield such spikes. Rabat - Moroccan football player and attacking midfielder for Belgian club KRC Genk Bilal El Khannouss was named Belgium’s Talent of the Year 2022 at the 69th edition of the Belgian Golden Boot award on Wednesday. Thanks to his impressive skills and performances, the 18-year-old footballer has succeeded in solidifying his reputation as a distinguished emerging player. El Khannouss notably caught the interest of football fans for being the youngest player in the Moroccan national team’s squad list for the Qatar World Cup, which took place in late 2022. Despite his young age, El Khannouss managed to emerge as one of the Moroccan teams’ key players in the global tournament. Prior to the World Cup, he made headlines in Belgium for his outstanding performances with Genk. The Far Cry franchise has been a bit quiet since the release of Far Cry 6 back in 2021, which is strange considering it’s Ubisoft’s second-biggest franchise and used to be on a pretty regular annual or bi-annual release schedule. Well, according to a new report from insider Tom Henderson, who’s had the goods on Ubisoft projects multiple times in the past, there are multiple Far Cry projects in the works, but we may not be seeing them for a while. According to Henderson both Far Cry 7, which is currently codenamed Project Blackbird, and a Far Cry multiplayer project, codenamed Project Maverick, are in development at Ubisoft Toronto. Interestingly, these projects were said to have begun as a single game originally envisioned under longtime Far Cry producer Dan Hay, but when he left Ubisoft to become general manager of Blizzard, the decision was made to split the game. Henderson seems to know more about the Far Cry multiplayer project, which he claims is a Tarkov-style extraction shooter with permadeath, backpack system, contracts, and other features common to the sub-genre. He also claims the game is set amongst the Alaskan wilderness. Henderson knows less about Far Cry 7, but considering it shares its origin with the Far Cry multiplayer game, he speculates it could be set in Alaska as well. Interestingly, as far back as 2015, Ubisoft asked fans about the potential of an Alaskan-set Far Cry. Of course, take this with a grain of salt for now, but it all sounds plausible enough. In particular, an Alaskan setting would be perfect for Far Cry’s brand of open-world gameplay. الحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله وعلى آله وصحبه أما بعد: فلا شك أن التمسك بالدين والخلق هو المعيار الأساسي لاختيار الزوج لما ثبت عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: إذا خطب إليكم من ترضون دينه وخلقه فزوجوه . رواه الترمذي. ولكنك أيتها الأخت السائلة أخطـأت خطأً بالغاً بإقامة علاقة حب مع هذا الشاب ترتبت عليها لقاءات ومحادثات غرامية ونظرات ... إلخ. وكل هذا لا يحل للمرأة المسلمة مع رجل أجنبي عنها، فالله تعالى يقول: وَقُلْ لِلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ يَغْضُضْنَ مِنْ أَبْصَارِهِنَّ وَيَحْفَظْنَ فُرُوجَهُنّ [النور:31]. وقال تعالى: فَلا تَخْضَعْنَ بِالْقَوْلِ فَيَطْمَعَ الَّذِي فِي قَلْبِهِ مَرَضٌ [الأحزاب:32]. وقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: لا يخلونّ رجل بامرأة إلا ومعها ذو محرم. متفق عليه. وقال صلى الله عليه وسلم:لا يخلونّ رجل بامرأة إلا كان ثالثهما الشيطان . رواه الترمذي وهو صحيح. بالإضافة إلى حرمة هذه العلاقة شرعاً، أثبتت الدراسات أن أغلب حالات الزواج التي جاءت عن طريق علاقة حب قبل الزواج فشلت وما لبثت بعد الزواج أن انفصمت عراها وتقطعت أوصالها، فالواجب عليك أن تقطعي علاقتك بهذا الشاب فإنه لا تحل لك مواصلة الاجتماع به، ولا الحديث إليه في مثل هذه المواضيع، وهو إن كان صادقاً فليتقدم لخطبتك من أهلك ولينه تلك العلاقة بالزواج ولا يتمادى في الباطل. والله أعلم.

Rabat - Gabon Foreign Affairs Minister Michael Moussa Adamo died of a heart attack during a government meeting on Friday. Gabon President Ali Bongo Ondimba mourned the death of Adamo, saying: “He was a very great diplomat, a true statesman.” “For me, he was first of all a friend, loyal and faithful, on whom I could always count. This is a huge loss for Gabon. RIP,” Ondimba wrote on Twitter. A brief statement from the Gabonese government said that Adamo was the “victim of a heart attack.” “Despite the efforts of specialists,” the official did not survive the heart attack that claimed his life during a government meeting on Friday, the government noted. “He sat down at the start of the Council of Ministers and started to feel bad,” a source close to the president’s office told AFP. An ambulance took the 62-year-old foreign minister to a military hospital while he was “unconscious.” He died shortly this afternoon at the hospital, where he was placed in intensive care. Adamo was appointed as chief of staff to the minister of Defense in 2000. Rabat - Triggered by the price shocks in the food and energy commodities, Morocco's Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by an annual average of 6.6% at the end of 2022. According to new data from the country's Higher Commission for Planning (HCP), the dramatic rise in CPI –an index that tracks the average price of a basket of food and services– echoes the 5.8% annual rise in the country’s inflation rate. Food prices increased significantly throughout 2022, with prices increasing by an average of 11%, while non-food commodities rose by 3.9% compared to the previous year. Transport prices equally rose by 12% over the same period. The rise in the consumer price index and inflation has disproportionately affected some Moroccan cities. Al-Hoceima, for example, saw an annual hike in inflation that averaged a sweeping 8.4%, followed by Kenitra and Beni-Mellal with 8.0%, and Errachidia with 7.6%. Other cities that were heavily impacted by the rise in inflation include Marrakech at 7.3%, Safi at 7.0%, and Fez and Oujda at 6.9%. While the price shock is expected to ease slightly in 2023, inflation will continue to be a major challenge for the global economy in 2023. In a report published earlier this month, HCP predicted that inflationary pressures in Morocco would ease in 2023, slowing down to the recommended level of under 2% compared to 5% in 2022. Governments around the world have been told to be cautiously optimistic about 2023, with many experts still reckoning that the world may be edging towards a second global recession as Europe faces the prospects of an energy crisis. Rabat - Morocco’s National Press Council has condemned the EU parliament’s latest conclusions on the situation of press freedom in the North African country. Sweeping conclusions In a statement today, the Council denounced the EU Parliament’s January 19 resolution on the “state of journalists in Morocco,” taking issue with its misleading and overgeneralized conclusions. In its draft resolution, the European Parliament urged Moroccan authorities to “put an end to the oppression that journalists, their families, and lawyers are subjected to.” The Council’s statement disputed the resolution’s assessment, stressing that the EU cannot possibly conclude that “all Moroccan journalists” are under oppression by basing its evaluation on only three cases of legal prosecutions against Moroccan journalists who were charged in non-press-related cases. Noting that it is the official body that rightfully represents and defends press freedom in Morocco, the council expressed its “surprise” at the EU’s sweeping resolution on the state of journalism in Morocco. Biased international NGOs The EU parliament has “adopted a single perspective – not in an unprecedented move – that foreign organizations sought to promote, and which is equally criticized by European voices,” it said According to the Council, the foreign organizations seeking to stain Morocco’s reputation did not even bother to “follow the progress of the trials, or listen to the people who filed charges against the three journalists.” Instead, they treated the victims in the three prosecution cases as “complicit suspects,” disregarding their right to seek justice, the Council fumed. It wrote: “It is noteworthy that European countries and organizations are especially careful to ensure justice is served in the legal cases involving rape and sexual assault allegations. Yesterday, Apple announced that iOS 16.3 will be available on all compatible iPhone models next week. The build is currently in the beta phase, with developers working to ensure the performance and features that Apple promised at its WWDC event last year in June. iOS 16 was released four months ago alongside the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models. While the devices have been received pretty well, some iPhone 14 Pro Max users are experiencing issues where green horizontal lines will flash across the screen. The latest suggests that iOS 16.3 will fix the horizontal lines issue on iPhone 14 Pro Max. New Intel Xeon CPU rumors have been put forward by Moore's Law is Dead which highlights the core counts of next-generation families such as Sierra Forest, Granite Rapids-SP & Granite Rapids-WS. Intel Xeon Rumored Core Counts Point To 334+ Cores For Sierra Forest, 132 Cores For Granite Rapids-SP, 86 Cores For Granite Rapids-WS Moore's Law is Dead talks about three upcoming Xeon families in his latest YouTube video. These include the Granite Rapids-SP, Granite Rapids-WS, and Sierra Forest. The Granite Rapids Xeon CPU family will make use of P-Cores while the Sierra Forest is optimized for compute density and makes use of E-Cores. Intel Sierra Forest - Zen Compute Competitor With 334+ Cores So starting with the Sierra Forest family, these Xeon CPUs will be power & performance optimized to support high-density, ultra-efficient compute for the cloud. According to MLID, the Sierra Forest Xeon chips will house at least 344 cores which will be packed within 4 Compute Tiles, and each tile would pack 86 cores. The rumors also point to an even higher core count variant in the form of the 528 core variant which could pack up to 132 cores per tile but will more realistically get 512 cores as one cluster would be disabled. It is a given at this point that Intel wants to compete against all AMD offerings. While the standard Scalable family competes against the main EPYC opponents, Sierra Forest will be competing with a range of compute-optimized EPYC parts such as the upcoming Bergamo with 128 Zen 4C cores and Falcon Shores will be competing against the custom Instinct APU accelerators which will start with the upcoming MI300 accelerator coming later this year. The Intel Sierra Forest family is expected to land in 2024 and will utilize the 'Intel 3' process node. Intel Granite Rapids-SP - Up To 132 Cores Against Zen 5 EPYC With its 6th Gen Granite Rapids-SP Xeon scalable family, Intel is expected to make big changes to its lineup. As of right now, Intel has confirmed that its Granite Rapids-SP Xeon CPUs will be based on the 'Intel 3' process node (Formely 5nm EUV). The lineup is expected to launch sometime between 2023 and 2024 as Emerald Rapids will be serving as an intermediary solution & not a proper Xeon family replacement. It is stated that Granite Rapids-SP Xeon chips will utilize the Redwood Cove+ core architecture and feature increased IPC which is rumored to be anywhere between 15-25%. Intel did tease a high-level overview of its Granite Rapids-SP CPU during its 'Accelerated' keynote which featured three tiles for compute and two I/O dies at the top and sections of the interposer. As per MLID, each of these tiles can pack up to 44 cores for up to 132 cores but the actual core count will fall back to 128 cores for a better yield. On Intel 4, we are progressing towards a high-volume manufacturing and will tape out the production stepping at Meteor Lake in Q4. The first stepping of Granite Rapids is out of the fab, yielding well with Intel 3 continuing to progress on schedule. Intel 4 and 3 are our first nodes deploying EUV and will represent a major step forward in terms of transistor performance per watt and density. As for the platform, the Intel Granite Rapids-SP Xeon CPUs will rock a 12-channel DDR5 controller, several PCIe Gen 5 lanes, and CXL Gen 2 support, and are expected to target 1H of 2024 for launch and compete with AMD's Zen 5 Turin line of EPYC chips. Lastly, the rumors talk about Intel's successor to the Sapphire Rapids-WS (Workstation) lineup. The family will be based upon the Granite Rapids DNA and utilize two of the three titles for a max of 88 cores though only 86 cores are said to be available or even lower. Just like AMD's Threadripper CPU family, the Granite Rapids-WS family will feature a single I/O die. For memory, the workstation CPUs might scale back to a 6-channel DDR5 memory controller.
