The Clarets, who knew a draw or defeat meant they would no longer be able to catch fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest, took the lead when Jacob Bruun Larsen slid in a 25th-minute opener. The joy among the travelling fans was tempered seven minutes later when Pedro Porro hammered in an equaliser. After dominating the second half without finding a way through, Spurs were finally rewarded when defender Micky van de Ven burst forward and expertly slotted the winner into the bottom corner. The draw would have done few favours for fifth-placed Tottenham, who needed a win to keep the pressure on Aston Villa in the race for the Champions League. Burnley are five points behind Forest with one game remaining, meaning they join Sheffield United in making an instant return to the Championship. Follow live text and radio of Saturday's Premier League games Have your say on Tottenham's performance, external What did you make of Burnley's display?, external Spurs' Champions League dream still not over For all the positives under Ange Postecoglou this season, a miserable run over the past month led to concern for Tottenham supporters. Four straight defeats severely damaged their team's hopes of finishing above Villa and Postecoglou was hoping to avoid the ignominy of becoming the first Spurs boss to lose five on the bounce since Ossie Ardiles in 1994. The ease with which their team have leaked goals β conceding 13 times in the defeats by Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool β has been particularly alarming. Burnley, who arrived as the third lowest scorers in the league, were also able to find space in attacking areas and punished Spurs through Bruun Larsenβs opener. But Tottenham eventually had enough quality to come through a stern test β even though they needed two defenders to provide the attacking spark. The fightback maintained Spursβ slim hopes of overhauling Villa. Tottenham know they must beat Manchester City and Sheffield United in their final two games, while hoping Unai Emeryβs side drop points against Liverpool and Crystal Palace. "We were dominant enough, their keeper was outstanding today and we had enough chances," said Postecoglou. "It's always difficult when you lose four matches in a row and it is only natural there will be a bit of anxiety and a bit of stress. "It should have been a more comfortable victory but the most important thing is we won the game." Gulf proves too big for Kompany's Burnley Having won the Championship title at a canter last season, Burnley were hoping the dynamic and attacking style developed under Vincent Kompany would translate into success in the Premier League. The top flight is a different beast, however, and the gulf has proved too big for the Clarets. A young and inexperienced side has been punished by defensive mistakes and a failure to take the chances which they created. Burnley have particularly struggled against the leading sides, losing all 12 games against the current top six after defeat at Tottenham. Like the draws they claimed at Chelsea and Manchester United, Kompanyβs side were competitive against Spurs but did not have enough quality at either end to earn the win which they needed. Sloppy possession at the back invited on pressure, while rare chances for Wilson Odobert and Maxime Esteve when it was still 1-1 were not taken. After relegation was confirmed, Burnleyβs dejected players applauded their travelling supporters who will be hoping their team can return at the first time of asking next season. Regardless of your version of true happiness, living a happier, more satisfied life is within reach. A few tweaks to your regular habits like getting more sleep and exercise can help you get there. Habits matter. If youβve ever tried breaking a bad habit, you know all too well how engrained they are. Well, good habits are deeply engrained, too. Why not work on making positive habits part of your routine? Below, youβll find suggestions for daily, monthly, and yearly habits to help kickstart your quest. Just remember that everyoneβs version of happiness is a little different, and so is their path to achieving it. If some of these habits create added stress or just donβt fit your lifestyle, ditch them. With a little time and practice, youβll figure out what does and doesnβt work for you. Daily habits The following daily habits may help you achieve more happiness in your life. 1. Smile You tend to smile when youβre happy. But itβs actually a two-way street. We smile because weβre happy, and smiling causes the brain to release dopamine, which makes us happier. While not completely foolproof, researchers have found that the link between smiling and happiness could be attributed to the βfacial feedback hypothesis,β where facial expressions may have a modest influence on emotions. That does not mean you have to go around with a fake smile plastered on your face all the time. But the next time you find yourself feeling low, crack a smile and see what happens. Or try starting each morning by smiling at yourself in the mirror. 2. Exercise Exercise isnβt just for your body. Regular exercise can help reduce stress, feelings of anxiety, and symptoms of depression while boosting self-esteem and happiness. Even a small amount of physical activity can make a difference. You donβt have to train for a triathlon or scale a cliff β unless thatβs what makes you happy, of course. The trick is to not overexert yourself. If you suddenly throw yourself into a strenuous routine, you may just end up frustrated (and sore). Consider these exercise starters: Take a walk around the block every night after dinner. Sign up for a beginnerβs class in yoga or tai chi. Start your day with 5 minutes of stretching. Remind yourself of any fun activities you once enjoyed but that have fallen by the wayside. Or you could consider starting activities you always wanted to try, such as golf, bowling, or dancing. 3. Get plenty of sleep Most adults need at least 7 hoursTrusted Source of sleep every night. If you find yourself fighting the urge to nap during the day o r just generally feel like youβre in a fog, your body may be telling you it needs more rest. No matter how much our modern society steers us toward less sleep, we know that adequate sleep is vitalTrusted Source to good health, brain function, and emotional well-being. Getting enough sleep also reduces your riskTrusted Source of developing certain chronic illnesses, such as heart disease, depression, and diabetes. Here are a few tips to help you build a better sleep routine: Write down how many hours of sleep you get each night and how rested you feel. After a week, you should have a better idea how youβre doing. You can also try using an app to track your sleep. Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, including on weekends. Reserve the hour before bed as quiet time. Take a bath, read, or do something relaxing. Avoid heavy eating and drinking. Keep your bedroom dark, cool, and quiet. Invest in some good bedding. If you have to take a nap, try limiting it to 20 minutes. If you consistently have problems sleeping, consider talking with a doctor. You may have a sleep disorder that requires treatment. 4. Eat with mood in mind You may already know that your food choices have an impact on your overall physical health. But some foods can also affect your state of mind.Trusted Source For example: Carbohydrates release serotonin, a βfeel goodβ hormone. Just keep simple carbs β foods high in sugar and starch β to a minimum because that energy surge is short and youβll crash. Choosing complex carbs, such as vegetables, beans, and whole grains, can help you avoid a crash while still providing serotonin. Lean meat, poultry, legumes, and dairy are high in protein. Protein-rich foods release dopamine and norepinephrine, which boost energy and concentration. Omega-3 fatty acids, such as those found in fatty fish, have been found to have anti-inflammatory effectsTrusted Source that extend to your overall brain health. If you donβt eat fish, you might consider talking with a doctor about possible supplementation. Highly processed or deep-fried foods tend to leave you feeling down and so will skipping meals. If you want to eat with your mood in mind, consider starting with making one food choice for your mood each day. For example, swap a big, sweet breakfast pastry for some Greek yogurt with fruit. Youβll still satisfy your sweet tooth, and the protein will help you avoid a midmorning energy crash. Consider adding in a new food swap each week. 5. Practice gratitude Simply being grateful can give your mood a big boost, among other benefits. For example, a two-part study found that practicing gratitude can have a significant impact on feelings of hope and happiness. You might try starting each day by acknowledging one thing youβre grateful for. You can do this while youβre brushing your teeth or just waiting for that snoozed alarm to go off. As you go about your day, consider keeping an eye out for pleasant things in your life. They can be big things, such as knowing that someone loves you or getting a well-deserved promotion. But they can also be little things, such as a co-worker who offered you a cup of coffee or the neighbor who waved to you. Maybe it could even just be the warmth of the sun on your skin. With a little practice, you may even become more aware of all the positive things around you. 6. Give a compliment https://www.healthline.com/health/how-to-be-happy

A United Nations resolution in support of Palestinian membership passed with overwhelming support on Friday, and granted new privileges to the Palestinian Authority in its current capacity as a non-member observer state. The resolution won a resounding majority of 143 votes in favor. Twenty five abstained, and nine nations voted against the text: Czechia, Hungary, Argentina, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Israel and the United States. The text, put forward by the United Arab Emirates, calls for the UNβs powerful Security Council β which must rule on Palestinian membership β to βreconsider the matter favourably.β βThe State of Palestine is qualified for membership in the United Nations,β it asserts. With emotion running high on Friday, more than 100 national representatives asked to speak about the resolution, with most emphasizing strong support for Palestinian statehood no matter how they voted. In remarks before the vote, Palestinian ambassador Riyad Mansour spoke passionately about the plight of Palestinians in wartorn Gaza. βAs we speak, 1.4 million Palestinians in Rafah wonder if they will survive today,β he told the assembly, referring to Israeli threats of a major attack on the densely po[CENSORED]ted city in southern Gaza. He also thanked protesters on US university campuses and abroad who have demonstrated against the Israel-Hamas war. βOur flag flies high and proud in Palestine and across the globe, and on the campus of Columbia University. It has become a symbol by all those who believe in freedom and is just ruled by all those who can no longer stand idly by in the face of such utter injustice,β Mansour said. Israel foreign minister Israel Katz quickly condemned the resolutionβs passage, describing it as a an βabsurd decisionβ that highlights βthe structural bias of the UNβ and rewards the actions of Hamas on October 7. βThe message that the UN is sending to our suffering region: violence pays off,β he said. βThe decision to upgrade the status of Palestinians in the UN is a prize for Hamas terrorists after they committed the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.β New rights and privileges While a General Assembly vote cannot confer UN membership, the approved resolution does endow the Palestinian Authority with new procedural rights and privileges. Only member states can vote, but the Palestinian Authority can now be seated among member states in alphabetical order; submit and introduce proposals and amendments; and co-sponsor proposals and amendments. The United Nations Security Council meets on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question, at UN headquarters in New York City on April 18, 2024. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday painted a dark picture of the situation in the Middle East, warning that spiraling tensions over the war in Gaza and Iran's attack on Israel could devolve into a "full-scale regional conflict." (Photo by ANGELA WEISS / AFP) RELATED ARTICLE US vetoes Palestinian attempt to gain statehood at the United Nations It can also make statements and explanations of votes, and has the right to reply on behalf of a group within the UN. It can also request proposals to be put to a vote and request items to be put on the UNGAβs provisional agenda. The Palestinian Authority will now request full membership from the Security Council, according to Mansour. The US has already warned that it will likely veto such a request in the Security Council β a replay of its April veto of an earlier Palestinian membership request. Following the general assembly vote on Friday, US Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations Robert Wood described the resolution text as βunproductive,β saying a βdurable peaceβ in the Middle East would mean bundling the two-state solution with other elements. βGaza cannot be a platform for terrorism, that there should be no Israeli reoccupation of Gaza and that the size of Gazaβs territory should not be reduced,β he said. Wood also suggested that the United Nations was the wrong forum for consideration of Palestinian statehood, telling the General Assembly that βit remains the US view that the most expeditious path toward statehood and UN membership for the Palestinian people is through direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian authurity Israelβs ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan also made emotional remarks before the assembly before the vote, accusing resolution supporters of voting to βadvance the establishment of a Palestinian terror stateβ and shredding part of the UN charter while standing at the organizationβs storied rostrum in New York βThis is your mirror so that you can see exactly what you are inflicting upon the UN charter with this destructive vote,β Erdan said, holding up a small paper shredder. Hours later, UN spokesman Farhan Haq defended the charter, telling press that βthis is an organization that is premised on respect for the UN charter and all of the member states have pledged to uphold the UN charter and we expect them to fulfill that obligationβ, said the spokesman. βAs long as this organization exists, the charter exists,β Haq added. In September 2011, the Palestinian Authority failed to win UN recognition as an independent member state. A year later, the UN decided that the Palestinian Authorityβs βnon-member observer entityβ status would be changed to βnon-member observer state,β similar to the Vatican. https://edition.cnn.com/2024/05/10/middleeast/unga-palestinian-membership-resolution-intl/index.html

As someone who hadnβt returned to Fallout 76βs post-apocalyptic West Virginia since its troubled debut back in 2018, six years really has made quite the difference. Appalachia looks pretty dang gorgeous on modern systems, its reworked leveling and perks make for an extremely engaging grind, and in stark contrast to the lonely and depressing slog I endured last time, the world is actually filled with interesting NPCs to chat up β you know, like a Fallout game. Throw in all the new quests and activities that have been added, and youβve got yourself a pretty robust multiplayer adventure filled with gore and silliness. That said, thereβs still plenty Fallout 76 misses the mark on in 2024, whether itβs an endgame thatβs fairly light on content, underwhelming jaunts into other areas of the Fallout setting, or an encumbrance and storage system thatβs so irritating itβs practically a requirement to pay for a monthly subscription that eases the pain. Iβve still overwhelmingly enjoyed my time blasting ghouls into pink, irradiated meat chunks, though, and can easily recommend it to anyone who similarly felt a deep yearning for more Fallout after watching the recent TV show. Fallout 76 Gameplay Screenshots (2024) Like the other 3D Fallout games, Fallout 76 is a goofy first-person shooter RPG where you explore a radioactive wasteland stuffed with disgusting monsters, complete harebrained quests that usually involve shooting and/or dismembering said monsters, and claim loot to fuel your badass survivorβs legend. Fallout 76 mixes up that playful and gory formula by letting your friends join your quest online, which comes with most of the advantages and drawbacks you might expect. A compelling story and the ability to make major decisions that impact it certainly take a backseat, but on the other hand, you get to fight giant, flying gargoyles with your buds while you all sing along to classic bops straight out of 1934. A compelling story and the ability to make major decisions that impact it certainly take a backseat. β As a vault dweller, you emerge from the titular Vault 76 only 25 years after atomic warfare has left the world in tatters, at which point you are vaguely told to go and rebuild it or something. Instead, youβll spend most of your time blowing it up even further with grenades, missiles, and even the odd atomic bomb while you run around completing errands foisted upon you by survivors, computer terminals, and constant pop-ups that recommend you do things like βkill the protestorsβ β typical heroic Fallout stuff. There are definitely some funny gags, wacky characters, and even the occasionally interesting bit of lore along the way, but Fallout 76 largely ditches the focus on story found in its single-player siblings in favor of letting you, your friends, and strangers tell your own stories in a big sandbox filled with ridiculous nonsense. That can be a lot of fun, though, and at least now there are non-robotic NPCs to talk to out in the world to make it feel more alive. (Itβs still pretty wild to me that this wasnβt always the case!) https://www.ign.com/articles/fallout-76-review-2024

While there are only three major chip suppliers, AMD, Intel and Nvidia, choosing the best one can still be tough. Hereβs everything you need to know, including our picks for best graphics cards. With the right graphics card, your PC experience, whether for gaming, streaming or other creation, can improve tremendously. Although these cards have been out for a few years, they're still cutting-edge when it comes to the top choices in the industry. Optimization technologies that help boost frame rates like Nvidia's DLSS, AMD's FidelityFX and Intel's XeSS tend to only run on the current or sometimes last generation of cards -- those that use Nvidia's Ada Lovelace, AMD's RDNA 3 or Intel's Xe architectures. Prettifying technologies like ray tracing can run substantially better on recent GPUs. Plus, the newer cards have much better video encoding chops for smoother streaming. While you can make initial choices based on specs like the manufacturer, GPU chip, amount and type of video memory, clock speeds, power requirements and other factors, they're imperfect predictors of how any particular model will perform in your games or creative applications. So we've put together some suggestions based on our experience testing and using a big crop of GPUs. In some cases, the card we tested was produced by the GPU company -- Nvidia's Founders Edition models, AMD's reference models and Intel's Limited Edition -- but in those cases we've still made recommendations of third-party cards from add-in board companies like Asus, MSI, Gigabyte and Zotac. Frequently, the "editions" go out of stock and never come back, while the AIB models can hang around for years. It can't be stressed enough that, unlike a lot of products you shop for, GPUs require research based on your particular configuration because there can be real consequences for a bad fit, like system crashes and fried motherboards. There are some blanket caveats for each chipset: Nvidia's newest GPUs require an adapter to work with most power supplies (they're usually bundled), AMD cards have frequent reports of high-pitched whining and Intel's still working out the kinks with its first generation of discrete GPUs. [Mobile games] Lego Fortnite Review
ππ-πππππ δ½ posted a topic in Mobile Games
Surprising absolutely no one, Fortnite and Lego snap satisfyingly together like a couple of plastic construction bricks. Combining the building creativity of Lego sets with Fortnite's expansive and often gorgeous island playgrounds is a smart match that creates an approachable yet fairly deep survival game. But while it streamlines a few of the more cumbersome aspects of the genre, Lego Fortnite also has the distinct feel of an early access game, trading as much on its future potential as its currently polished systems. There's a solid foundation here that developer Epic Games will surely build on over time, but Lego Fortnite can feel somewhat empty at launch β what's here is fun, there's just not very much of it. If you're familiar with survival games like Minecraft or Valheim, you'll immediately find yourself at home in Fortnite's riff on the genre, as it uses tried-and-true blueprints rather than starting from scratch. Dropped on a procedurally generated island that's still loosely contained within Fortnite's larger time-loopy fiction, you need to gather food and other resources to keep yourself alive. As you get more materials, you can craft tools and weapons, which let you fight off deadly creatures and gather even better materials, and then make better tools and weapons so you can search for still deadlier creatures and still rarer materials. It's an extremely well-worn track at this point, and Lego Fortnite makes no attempt to lay down its own rails. Instead, it focuses on reducing friction by providing you with a whole bunch of helpful NPCs to lighten the load. While a lot of survival games include cooperative multiplayer, Lego Fortnite makes cooperation its central theme. You can join up with as many as seven other players, but even if you're alone, you'll have NPCs around to take a lot of the pressure off. It's an adjustment that lets Lego Fortnite maintain the trappings of survival while relaxing the burden overall, and at times can lessen the grind that often defines this sort of game β although there's still plenty of grind to go around. From the start in any new game, other characters are hanging around both to offer you tutorial information and to help out. Rather than building random shelter structures to keep yourself alive, you can construct a town square that turns your location into a village that attracts NPC Fortnite characters. Visitors will flow in and out of your village freely and defend it from any enemies that happen by, and you can entice some of them to become permanent residents by advancing through 10 village levels. That gives you something of a workforce almost from the very beginning, and you can assign NPCs to forage for materials or work your different crafting benches, providing you with free resources every so often. It's like always having other players around to help you, freeing you up somewhat to focus on things that are more enticing than standing at a workbench, waiting for food to cook. The Fortnite side of the equation adds some interesting new wrinkles. β That help makes it a little easier to enjoy on the best part of Lego Fortnite, which is striking out into the world to find new resources to improve your stuff. The Fortnite side of the equation adds some interesting wrinkles here, like a version of the battle royale mode's storm with lightning strikes that will drive you into cover, llamas and supply drops that dispense random loot, and rifts that spawn a little dance party on a cloud into the world, which you can join with your Fortnite emotes. There's not a ton beyond that stuff and some recognizable skins to identify this as a Fortnite spin-off, but the additions still bring some extra flavor to the world and open the door for future possibilities. Combat is the same clunky style as Minecraft or Valheim, where you mostly stand and whack at enemies with a sword between blocking their assaults with a shield, with a dodge roll that gives you a little extra agility when you need it. Lego Fortnite uses NPCs to lower the stakes a bit here, too, as you can recruit any friendly character to explore with you, instantly doubling your odds in a fight. If they die, NPCs respawn a few seconds later barely any worse for wear (although without any of the equipment you gave them). It's an option that maintains the feel of adventuring while lowering the barrier of entry and the risk. https://www.ign.com/articles/lego-fortnite-review -
I don't envy the folks at Arrowhead charged with balancing Helldivers 2 guns fans have grown attached to. Arrowhead has rolled out a handful of sweeping balance patches in the game's first few months, all of which I believe made the game better by both buffing guns with untapped potential and, less often, nerfing a weapon that's dominant to the point of being boring. But there's an argument to be made that balancing shouldn't be taken so seriously in a purely PvE shooter like Helldivers 2, and that it's ok if one gun is dealing more damage than the rest. Replying to a player on Twitter who said recent patches have made the game "unplayable," Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt conceded that he's not satisfied with his studio's current balancing approach. "Hey, yeah I think we've gone too far in some areas. Will talk to the team about the approach to balance," he wrote. "It feels like every time someone finds something fun, the fun is removed In a followup tweet, Pilestedt says he's seeing "a bit too much balancing using damage instead of other measures such as recoil, reload speeds, accuracy, projectile speeds and equip speeds. Just tweaking damage numbers is a blunt tool."The exchange was not in reference to any specific nerfs, so it's hard to pin down exactly what Pilestedt has in mind here. The last sweeping balancing patch deployed in late April could be described as 'too many damage tweaks,' but many guns also received non-damage alterations like magazine size, recoil, and recharge time. The Eruptor of it all It's possible Pilestedt is thinking about the main subject of yesterday's 1.000.302 patch, the Eruptor rifle. What's interesting about the Eruptor, a new primary rifle, is that it was nerfed because it was too dangerous for everyone around it. The patch notes read: Increased explosion damage by 40 and removed shrapnel from the explosion: This is to avoid cases in which players would randomly one-shot themselves or their teammates in a huge radius around the explosion Let's zoom out for some context: The Eruptor is a primary gun added in last month's Democratic Detonation warbond. It doesn't fire bullets, but rather micro missiles that deal AoE explosive damage on impact. Until yesterday, impacts would also shoot out waves of "shrapnel" in random directions that dealt additional damage. It's these shrapnel waves, which had a tendency of bouncing toward and instantly killing helldivers, that Arrowhead has removed and replaced with more direct explosive damage. While Helldivers 2 players are accustomed to wielding power guns capable of backfiring when used improperly, the Eruptor's shrapnel crossed a line of inconsistency for Arrowheadβits unpredictable behavior was causing frustrating deaths that, for a few days, had the community convinced there was a larger problem with ricocheting rockets. Clearly something had to be done about the haphazard shrapnel mechanic, but some fans on Discord and Reddit aren't happy with Arrowhead's compromise. Without shrapnel, the post-patch Eruptor has noticeably smaller explosions, and isn't as good at clearing out swarms of small bugs. The tradeoff is more damage dealt at the point of impact, which means it can still make fairly quick work of Chargers and Spewers (good marks for any gun that you can carry by default). I tested the Eruptor on a few missions today and, while it still gets the job done, I agree its puny explosions don't make it stand out the way it used to. It should tell you how high the bar is set for Helldivers 2 guns that a micro-missile-firing, bolt-action scoped super rifle is only somewhat interesting. To the credit of Arrowhead's balancing squad, they're listening to feedback on the updated Eruptor. Just tweaking damage numbers is a blunt tool. Johan Pilestedt, Arrowhead CEO "We can't bring the shrapnel back the way it was," wrote senior game designer Alexus Kravchenko on Discord yesterday. "We don't want it to one-shot chargers, and we don't want it to have a chance to kill you or your teammates (we have a cluster eagle for that). I still strongly believe that the Eruptor benefits from dealing less damage more consistently. So: it's a net minus if you're lucky or are using an exploit, and net plus otherwise." (That "exploit" Kravchenko is referring to was an unintended consequence of the shrapnel damage that'd allow players to aim Eruptor shots under large enemies like Chargers and Spewers, centralize all the shrapnel damage in one place, and kill them instantly.) "However we're still investigating if this change has affected any breakpoints against medium enemies, and we will look into that. I won't promise that it will definitely be buffed, as the weapon in its current state is still absolutely viable. But it's always on our radar." A new batch of guns to scrutinize is set to arrive soon in the Polar Patriots premium warbond, but in an unexpected move, Pilestedt is letting the community vote on delaying the release to put more distance between the whole PSN account linking controversy and asking for $10 from players. https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/arrowhead-ceo-says-helldivers-2-balancing-patches-have-gone-too-far-recently-it-feels-like-every-time-someone-finds-something-fun-the-fun-is-removed/
