  3. Does your computer feel sluggish? If so, use these tips to help speed up Windows 10. Although Windows 10 is a fast operating system, the performance will start degrading at some point due to many factors, including compatibility issues and bugs, viruses or other types of malware, hardware problems, and more. If your computer is getting slower, it does not necessarily mean you have to replace it with a new system. Simple software and hardware tweaks can significantly speed up the Windows 10 experience. This guide will walk you through a long list of ways to speed up, optimize, and improve the performance of your computer β€” whether it has an older or modern hardware configuration. When the device restarts, the computer usually terminates the applications and processes. The data loaded into memory also gets cleared, which helps to resolve everyday performance and stability issues due to keeping the operating system running for a long time. To shut down and restart your computer to speed up Windows 10, use these steps: Open Start. Click the Power button. Select the Shut down option. Quick tip: The "Sleep" or "Hibernate" options do not reset the system or clear the data in memory. Start menu shutdown option (Image credit: Future) Press the power button to turn on the computer. After you complete the steps, Windows 10 will restart, and this time the performance should be noticeably improved. https://www.windowscentral.com/tips-tricks-increase-pc-performance-windows-10
  4. The best gaming PC is about finding the right system that matches your needs and your budget. It's entirely possible to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a gaming rig if you want; there's almost no upper limit. But spending your money wisely is a tougher task when you're working to a tight budget, as most of us are these days. In my near twenty-year tenure as a tech journalist, I've reviewed countless gaming PCs. I've gained insights into where you should be investing the bulk of your budget and where compromises can be made. This knowledge is crucial, especially for systems where every penny counts. Yet, even when considering a $3,000 PC, you should still want to ensure your investment in the hardware is sound. Below, I cover the specs you should expect at any given price point and also, given my experience testing PCs built by many different companies over the years, which gaming PCs I believe are the best for your budget. Testing every system at every configuration in the rich tapestry of gaming PCs is impossible. But we've had experience with all the main system builders' work and have extensively tested the core parts in each. We are well-versed in identifying which is the best graphics card at each price point and the processor you'll need to make the most of it. So whether you've got a tight $1,000 budget or are willing to spend up to $5,000 on your dream machine, we've got a great recommendation for the best gaming PC for you. https://www.pcgamer.com/best-gaming-pc/
  5. The Android gaming market features outstanding gems that deserve a home on your Android phone or tablet. Indie hits, retro classics, and even Nintendo-published originals are among the many games you'll find on the Android platform. In fact, some Android games are comparable with AAA titles console games and PC games. As a result, we’ve selected great titles across all genres to help you find the top games to play. If you're wanting more bang for your buck, subscription services make it easier than ever to find those gems. The $4.99-per-month Google Play Pass gives you hundreds of games and apps that are free of microtransactions. The similarly priced GameClub resurrects mobile gaming classics in one low-price subscription. For an excellent cloud gaming experience on Android, check out Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Now, even a Netflix subscription comes with exclusive mobile games. Google’s willingness to license Android to more partners also means most gaming-focused mobile hardware targets Android. Although we appreciate the experimentation, that leads to many initiatives that don't fully pan out. Remember Razer Phone? Even Google's own gaming projects may also fizzle after only a few years. Google Cardboard, with turned your Android phone into an accessible virtual reality headset, got discontinued. The troubled Google Stadia cloud streaming service has shut down, and the company will offer full refunds in 2023. And just like Apple's iOS mobile platform, Android is filled with gimmicky cash grabs and utter trash that isn't worth your time or money. Still, none of that takes away from Android's strength as a massive gaming platform. Whether you want to swipe through a casual card game or buy a full-on mobile controller for serious gaming, Android has many options for many tastes. Treat yourself to mobile entertainment that isn’t Twitter drama. Scroll down, and check out these excellent mobile games for your Android phone or tablet. 6. Update: Sony has now backed down on its demand that Helldivers 2 players log into a PSN account. Even as members of Helldivers studio Arrowhead Games say that discussions around Sony's controversial PlayStation Network sign in requirement for Helldivers 2 on PC are still ongoing, it looks like the publisher is doubling down on the move, halting sales of the game in countries where it doesn't offer the service. In theory, Helldivers 2 was always supposed to require players to sign into the PlayStation Network in game, but this was not required at launch due to network infrastructure limitations (remember Helldivers 2's early server woes?). Two days ago, Sony announced that it would begin enforcing that requirement in a month-long rollout. While merely an (admittedly odious) inconvenience for most players, PC users in countries not covered by PSN might be locked out of the game entirely. This simple fact seems to have taken even Sony by surprise, with an FAQ from the publisher in the Helldivers 2 Discord seeming to direct players to set their PSN account to a country other than the one in which they live, a violation of Sony's terms of service. Speaking to the game's rioting community yesterday, Helldivers 2 community manager Spitz framed addressing this oversight as the developer's number one priority in discussions with Sony about the requirement. As shared by SteamDB early this morning, Helldivers 2 has been removed from sale on Steam in 177 countries and territories. Japan seems to be on the list as an outlier, with the game being replaced by a different version in the country, seemingly due to localization reasons. The rest, though, are all regions not eligible for PSN access, with this move seemingly in preparation for the worst-case scenario of a rollout where players who can't sign up for the PlayStation Network are simply out of luck. The Steam review riot against the move continues unabated, with over 211 thousand negative recent reviews, bringing the former people's champion of 2024 to overall "Mixed" status on the platform. Almost 130 thousand of those new negative reviews were in the past day alone—when I last checked in on Helldivers 2 yesterday, we were sitting at 84 thousand. Eurogamer also reports that some players are even receiving refunds from Steam despite vastly exceeding the platform's usual 2-hour window. And Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead might just be one of the biggest victims of the situation, having its trend setting, GOTY shortlist labor of love get proverbially drawn and quartered due to myopic Sony decision making. "We are talking solutions with Sony, especially in non-PSN countries," Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt wrote on Twitter earlier today. "Your voice has been heard, and I am doing everything I can to speak for the community—but I don't have the final say." 10. The White House on Monday had a terse message for South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, who suggested one of President Joe Biden’s pets should suffer the same fate as the dog she admitted shooting to death. β€œWe learned last week, obviously like all of you, in her book that she killed her puppy. You heard me say that was very, very sad. We find her comments from yesterday disturbing. We find them absurd,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Monday. She continued, β€œThis is a country that loves dogs. And you have a leader talking about putting dogs down – killing them. And that’s a disturbing statement to say.” Noem, Jean-Pierre advised, β€œshould probably should stop digging herself in a hole.” In a forthcoming memoir, Noem boasted about killing her dog, Cricket, in a gravel pit after she said the dog was β€œuntrainable.” Noem’s admission has caused days’ worth of bipartisan uproar toward the governor, who was once considered to be vying to be former President Donald Trump’s running mate in the coming election. In the book, and in media appearances since the Cricket controversy began, Noem suggested Biden’s dog, Commander, should also die. Commander was sent away from the White House last October after CNN reported that the 2-year-old German shepherd was involved in a significant number of biting incidents involving US Secret Service personnel, executive residence staff and other White House workers. β€œWhat would I do if I was president on the first day in office in 2025? Thanks for asking. I happen to have a list. The first thing I’d do is make sure Joe Biden’s dog was nowhere on the grounds (β€˜Commander, say hello to Cricket for me’),” Noem wrote, according to an advance copy of the book obtained by CNN. During an appearance on CBS’ β€œFace the Nation” Sunday, Noem was pressed on whether she believed Commander should be killed. β€œHow many people is enough people to be attacked and dangerously hurt before you make a decision on a dog and what to do with it? That’s the question that the president should be held accountable to,” Noem said. Asked by host Margaret Brennan on whether she was saying the dog should be shot, Noem repeated,β€œThat’s what the president should be accountable to. What is the number?” CNN learned through a Freedom of Information Act request in February that Commander bit Secret Service personnel in at least 24 incidents at the White House and other locations, according to internal USSS documents. Those documents revealed the extent to which the situation had become a serious workplace issue for the hundreds of staff supporting White House operations, and how agency personnel changed their habits to avoid being injured by the German shepherd. β€œThe recent dog bites have challenged us to adjust our operational tactics when Commander is present – please give lots of room,” an unnamed assistant special agent in charge of USSS’ Presidential Protective Division wrote to their team in a June 2023 email, warning that agents β€œmust be creative to ensure our own personal safety.” That warning came months before the dog was removed from the White House, with multiple biting incidents taking place in the interim. Commander, who was gifted to the president and first lady as a puppy in 2021, is currently living with Biden family members in Delaware. β€œThe president and first lady care deeply about the safety of those who work at the White House and those who protect them every day. Despite additional dog training, leashing, working with veterinarians, and consulting with animal behaviorists, the White House environment simply proved too much for Commander. Since the fall, he has lived with other family members,” Elizabeth Alexander, first lady Jill Biden’s communications director, said in a statement at the time. The Bidens’ other dog, Major, caused an injury to an unnamed Secret Service agent and had previously been sent away to Delaware. A source close to the family said that the Bidens feels β€œawful” and had been β€œheartbroken” about the spate of incidents, but President Biden made light of the situation last month, joking at a New York fundraiser, β€œAs Harry Truman said, β€˜You’re president. If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog.’ I got one, and he bit a Secret Service agent, so I don’t know.” https://edition.cnn.com/2024/05/06/politics/white-house-kristi-noem-dogs/index.html
  11. The giraffe is a large African hoofed mammal belonging to the genus Giraffa. It is the tallest living terrestrial animal and the largest ruminant on Earth. Traditionally, giraffes have been thought of as one species, Giraffa camelopardalis, with nine subspecies. Most recently, researchers proposed dividing them into up to eight extant species due to new research into their mitochondrial and nuclear DNA, and individual species can be distinguished by their fur coat patterns. Seven other extinct species of Giraffa are known from the fossil record. The giraffe's chief distinguishing characteristics are its extremely long neck and legs, its horn-like ossicones, and its spotted coat patterns. It is classified under the family Giraffidae, along with its closest extant relative, the okapi. Its scattered range extends from Chad in the north to South Africa in the south, and from Niger in the west to Somalia in the east. Giraffes usually inhabit savannahs and woodlands. Their food source is leaves, fruits, and flowers of woody plants, primarily acacia species, which they browse at heights most other herbivores cannot reach. Lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, and African wild dogs may prey upon giraffes. Giraffes live in herds of related females and their offspring or bachelor herds of unrelated adult males, but are gregarious and may gather in large aggregations. Males establish social hierarchies through "necking", combat bouts where the neck is used as a weapon. Dominant males gain mating access to females, which bear sole responsibility for rearing the young. The giraffe has intrigued various ancient and modern cultures for its peculiar appearance, and has often been featured in paintings, books, and cartoons. It is classified by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as vulnerable to extinction and has been extirpated from many parts of its former range. Giraffes are still found in numerous national parks and game reserves, but estimates as of 2016 indicate there are approximately 97,500 members of Giraffa in the wild. More than 1,600 were kept in zoos in 2010. Etymology The name "giraffe" has its earliest known origins in the Arabic word zarāfah (زرافة),[2] ultimately from Persian Ψ²ΩΨ±Ω†ΩŽΨ§ΩΎΩŽΨ§β€Ž (zurnāpā), a compound of Ψ²ΩΨ±Ω†ΩŽΨ§β€Ž (zurnā, "flute, zurna") and ΩΎΩŽΨ§β€Ž (pā, "leg").[3][4] In early Modern English the spellings jarraf and ziraph were used, probably directly from the Arabic,[5] and in Middle English jarraf and ziraph, gerfauntz. The Italian form giraffa arose in the 1590s. The modern English form developed around 1600 from the French girafe.[2] "Camelopard" /kΙ™ΛˆmΙ›lΙ™ΛŒpɑːrd/ is an archaic English name for the giraffe; it derives from the Ancient Greek καμηλοπάρδαλις (kamΔ“lopΓ‘rdalis), from κάμηλος (kΓ‘mΔ“los), "camel", and πάρδαλις (pΓ‘rdalis), "leopard", referring to its camel-like shape and leopard-like colouration.[6][7] Taxonomy Evolution The giraffe is one of only two living genera of the family Giraffidae in the order Artiodactyla, the other being the okapi.[8] They are ruminants of the clade Pecora, along with Antilocapridae (pronghorns), Cervidae (deer), Bovidae (cattle, antelope, goats and sheep) and Moschidae (musk deer). A 2019 genome study (cladogram below) finds that Giraffidae are a sister taxon to Antilocapridae, with an estimated split of over 20 million years ago.[9] Ruminantia Tragulina Tragulidae Pecora Antilocapridae Giraffidae Cervidae Bovidae Moschidae The family Giraffidae was once much more extensive, with over 10 fossil genera described.[8] The elongation of the neck appears to have started early in the giraffe lineage. Comparisons between giraffes and their ancient relatives suggest vertebrae close to the skull lengthened earlier, followed by lengthening of vertebrae further down.[10] One early giraffid ancestor was Canthumeryx, which has been dated variously to have lived 25 to 20 million years ago, 17–15 mya or 18–14.3 mya and whose deposits have been found in Libya. This animal resembled an antelope and had a medium-sized, lightly built body. Giraffokeryx appeared 15–12 mya on the Indian subcontinent and resembled an okapi or a small giraffe, and had a longer neck and similar ossicones.[8] Giraffokeryx may have shared a clade with more massively built giraffids like Sivatherium and Bramatherium.[10] The extinct giraffid Samotherium (middle) in comparison with the okapi (below) and giraffe. The anatomy of Samotherium appears to have shown a transition to a giraffe-like neck.[11] Giraffids like Palaeotragus, Shansitherium and Samotherium appeared 14 mya and lived throughout Africa and Eurasia. These animals had broader skulls with reduced frontal cavities.[8][10] Paleotragus resembled the okapi and may have been its ancestor.[8] Others find that the okapi lineage diverged earlier, before Giraffokeryx.[10] Samotherium was a particularly important transitional fossil in the giraffe lineage, as the length and structure of its cervical vertebrae were between those of a modern giraffe and an okapi, and its neck posture was likely similar to the former's.[11] Bohlinia, which first appeared in southeastern Europe and lived 9–7 mya, was likely a direct ancestor of the giraffe. Bohlinia closely resembled modern giraffes, having a long neck and legs and similar ossicones and dentition.[8] Bohlinia colonised China and northern India and produced the Giraffa, which, around 7 million years ago, reached Africa. Climate changes led to the extinction of the Asian giraffes, while the African giraffes survived and radiated into new species. Living giraffes appear to have arisen around 1 million years ago in eastern Africa during the Pleistocene.[8] Some biologists suggest the modern giraffes descended from G. jumae;[12] others find G. gracilis a more likely candidate. G. jumae was larger and more robust, while G. gracilis was smaller and more slender.[8] The changes from extensive forests to more open habitats, which began 8 mya, are believed to be the main driver for the evolution of giraffes.[8] During this time, tropical plants disappeared and were replaced by arid C4 plants, and a dry savannah emerged across eastern and northern Africa and western India.[13][14] Some researchers have hypothesised that this new habitat, coupled with a different diet, including acacia species, may have exposed giraffe ancestors to toxins that caused higher mutation rates and a higher rate of evolution.[15] The coat patterns of modern giraffes may also have coincided with these habitat changes. Asian giraffes are hypothesised to have had more okapi-like colourations.[8] The giraffe genome is around 2.9 billion base pairs in length, compared to the 3.3 billion base pairs of the okapi. Of the proteins in giraffe and okapi genes, 19.4% are identical. The divergence of giraffe and okapi lineages dates to around 11.5 mya. A small group of regulatory genes in the giraffe appear to be responsible for the animal's height and associated circulatory adaptations.[16][17] Species and subspecies Approximate geographic ranges, fur patterns, and phylogenetic relationships between some giraffe subspecies Map showing "Approximate geographic ranges, fur patterns, and phylogenetic relationships between some giraffe subspecies based on mitochondrial DNA sequences. Colored dots on the map represent sampling localities. The phylogenetic tree is a maximum-likelihood phylogram based on samples from 266 giraffes. Asterisks along branches correspond to node values of more than 90% bootstrap support. Stars at branch tips identify paraphyletic haplotypes found in Maasai and reticulated giraffes".[18] The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) currently recognises only one species of giraffe with nine subspecies.[1] Carl Linnaeus originally classified living giraffes as one species in 1758. He gave it the binomial name Cervus camelopardalis. Mathurin Jacques Brisson coined the generic name Giraffa in 1762.[19] During the 1900s, various taxonomies with two or three species were proposed.[20] A 2007 study on the genetics of giraffes using mitochondrial DNA suggested at least six lineages could be recognised as species.[18] A 2011 study using detailed analyses of the morphology of giraffes, and application of the phylogenetic species concept, described eight species of living giraffes.[21] A 2016 study also concluded that living giraffes consist of multiple species. The researchers suggested the existence of four species, which have not exchanged genetic information between each other for 1 to 2 million years.[22] A 2020 study showed that depending on the method chosen, different taxonomic hypotheses recognizing from two to six species can be considered for the genus Giraffa. That study also found that multi-species coalescent methods can lead to taxonomic over-splitting, as those methods delimit geographic structures rather than species. The three-species hypothesis, which recognises G. camelopardalis, G. giraffa, and G. tippelskirchi, is highly supported by phylogenetic analyses and also corroborated by most po[CENSORED]tion genetic and multi-species coalescent analyses.[23] A 2021 whole genome sequencing study suggests the existence of four distinct species and seven subspecies.[24] A 2024 study found a higher amount of ancient gene flow than expected between po[CENSORED]tions.[25] The cladogram below shows the phylogenetic relationship between the four proposed species and seven subspecies based on a 2021 genome analysis.[24] Note the eight lineages correspond to eight of the traditional subspecies in the one species hypothesis. 12. The end could be near for Fisker. Actually, it may have already happened. In a first-quarter earnings call last week from Magna International, the company stated that Fisker Ocean production is still idled, and it "assumes no further production" will take place. It's not an official announcement from Fisker, and "assume" isn't a definitive stand from Magna. Still, it's pretty damming considering the current state of Fisker. Magna International is the company that builds the Ocean for Fisker. Production takes place through Magna Steyr, a subsidiary of the company at its manufacturing facility in Austria. Ocean production was idled back in early March for what was supposed to be a six-week pause. But that timeframe has come and gone. Later in the call, Magna International Chief Financial Officer Pat McCann also mentioned the company assumes "no more production of the Fisker Ocean." We contacted Fisker regarding the current and future status of Ocean production. A spokesperson declined to comment. It's certainly no secret that Fisker is in trouble. Talks of partnering with an automaker to help the company's cash flow situation fell apart back in March. Fisker said it didn't have the funds to survive through the end of the year, and shortly thereafter it drastically slashed prices on 2023 Oceans. Most recently, the company was rumored to be in talks with more automakers for a possible partnership. However, the stock price has tanked and reports of nightmare Ocean ownership experiences are becoming more widespread. The Fisker death watch continues... https://www.motor1.com/news/718614/fisker-ocean-factory-idled/
  13. Weightlifter Oleksandr Pielieshenko, who represented Ukraine at the Rio 2016 Olympics, has died during the conflict with Russia. Two-time European champion Pielieshenko, 30, joined the armed forces soon after Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, according to the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine. "War takes the best of us... heroes do not die," said weightlifting coach and Ukrainian Weightlifting Federation (UWF) board member Viktor Slobodianiuk. Pielieshenko died on the front line, the UWF added. He was ranked fourth at the Rio Games in the 85kg category and won gold at the European championships in 2016 and 2017. Pielieshenko was later banned after failing a drugs test in 2018. "It is with great sadness that we inform you that the heart of merited master of sports of Ukraine... Oleksandr Pielieshenko has stopped beating today," the UWF said in a post on Facebook. "We express our sincere condolences to the family and everyone who knew Oleksandr." https://www.bbc.com/sport/weightlifting/articles/cjk4pmv4y54o
  14. Life has changed now that your baby is here, and you might have lots of questions about what to do. These tips can help first-time parents feel confident about caring for a newborn in no time. How Do I Get Help After My Baby Comes Home? An important part of caring for a newborn is to also take care of yourself. Consider getting help during this time, which can feel hectic and a bit overwhelming. Relatives and friends might want to help. Even if you disagree on some things, their own experiences might be helpful. To keep your baby healthy, anyone handling your little one should be up to date on their vaccines and help only if they feel well. But if you don't feel up to having guests or have other concerns, don't feel guilty about limiting visitors. How Do I Handle My Baby? If you haven't spent a lot of time around newborns, they may seem very fragile. Here are a few basics to remember: Wash your hands (or use a hand sanitizer) before handling your baby. Newborns don't have a strong immune system yet, so they're at risk for infections. Make sure that everyone who handles your baby has clean hands. Support your baby's head and neck. Cradle the head when carrying your baby. And support the head when carrying the baby upright or when you lay your baby down. Never shake your baby, whether in play or in frustration. Shaking can cause bleeding in the brain and sometimes death. If you need to wake your baby, don't do it by shaking. Instead, tickle your baby's feet or blow gently on a cheek. Always fasten your baby securely when using a carrier, stroller, or car seat. Limit any activity that could be too rough or bouncy. Avoid rough play with newborns, such as jiggling them on the knee or throwing them in the air. How Can I Bond With My Baby? Bonding happens during the first hours and days after birth when parents make a deep connection with their child. Physical closeness can help form an emotional link and help your baby develop in other ways. Another way to think of bonding is "falling in love" with your baby. Kids thrive from having a parent or other adult in their life who loves them unconditionally. Begin bonding by cradling and gently stroking your baby in different patterns. Another good technique is skin-to-skin contact (also called kangaroo care), where you hold your newborn against your own chest. This helps calm and soothe babies and regulate their heartbeat. It’s a good practice for moms or dads to do. Here’s how to do skin-to-skin contact with your baby: Avoid using scented perfumes or lotions and stay away from cigarette smoke beforehand. Find a comfortable seat in a dimly-lit room. Wear a shirt that opens in the front. Lay your baby in just a diaper on your bare chest. Sit quietly, talk softly, hum, sing, or read aloud. Your baby may sleep during this time. How Can Soothe My Baby? Helping babies relax can help them feel happier and more comfortable. Here are some tips on soothing your baby. Massage: Infant massage may help babies, especially those who were born early or have medical problems. Some types of massage may enhance bonding and help babies grow and develop. Many books and videos cover infant massage β€” ask your doctor for recommendations. Be careful, though β€” babies aren’t as strong as adults, so massage your baby gently. Sounds: Babies usually love vocal sounds, such as talking, babbling, singing, and cooing. Your baby will probably enjoy listening to soft music. Baby rattles and musical mobiles are other good ways to stimulate your infant's hearing. If your little one is fussy, try singing, reciting poetry and nursery rhymes, or reading aloud as you sway or rock your baby gently in a chair. Some babies can be unusually sensitive to touch, light, or sound. They might startle and cry easily, sleep less than expected, or turn their faces away when someone speaks or sings to them. If that's the case with your baby, keep noise and light levels low to medium. Swaddling: Another soothing technique is swaddling, which works well for some babies during their first few weeks. Proper swaddling keeps a baby's arms close to the body while allowing their legs to move a bit. It keeps a baby warm, and it seems to give most newborns a sense of security and comfort. Swaddling also may help limit the startle reflex, which can wake a baby. Here's how to swaddle your baby: Spread out a baby blanket with one corner folded over slightly. Lay the baby face-up on the blanket with their head above the folded corner. Wrap the left corner over the baby's body and tuck it beneath the back, going under the right arm. Bring the bottom corner up over the baby's feet and pull it toward their head, folding the fabric down if it gets close to your baby's face. Don’t wrap too tightly around the hips. The hips and knees should be slightly bent and turned out. Wrapping your baby too tightly may increase their risk for hip dysplasia (dis-PLAY-zhuh). Wrap the right corner around your baby, and tuck it under their back on the left side, leaving only the neck and head exposed. To make sure your baby isn’t wrapped too tightly, make sure you can slip a hand between the blanket and your baby's chest. This will allow comfortable breathing. But make sure that the blanket isn’t so loose that it could come undone. Stop swaddling when your baby shows signs of starting to roll over. That’s usually around 2 months. At this age, some babies can roll over while swaddled, which puts them at risk for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). How Do I Diaper My Baby? Whether you use cloth or disposable diapers, your little one will dirty them about 10 times a day, which is about 70 times a week. When diapering your baby: Have all the supplies you need within reach. Wipe your baby front to back gently using water, cotton balls, and a washcloth or wipes. Apply diaper cream if needed to treat diaper rash. Wash your hands after changing the diaper. When Should I Bathe My Baby? For the first few weeks, babies get sponge baths. Then, after the umbilical cord stump falls off and the circumcision heals (if your baby was circumcised), babies can have baths in a sink or small plastic infant tub. When your baby is ready for tub baths, the first ones should be gentle and brief. If your baby gets upset, go back to sponge baths for a week or two, then try the tub bath again. A bath two or three times a week in the first year is fine. More frequent bathing may be drying to the baby's skin. How Do I Care for the Umbilical Cord and Circumcision Area? Umbilical cord care: Clean around the cord stump with plain water and blot dry until the stump dries up and falls off, usually in 10 days to 3 weeks. Don’t let the belly button area soak in water until the stump falls off and the area heals. Before the cord stump falls off, it will change color from yellow to brown or black β€” this is normal. Call your doctor if the area looks red, has a bad odor, or has discharge. Circumcision care: After a circumcision, doctors usually put petroleum jelly on the tip of the baby's penis and cover it with gauze to keep the wound from sticking to the diaper. At each diaper change, gently wipe the tip clean with warm water (not a baby wipe), then apply petroleum jelly and gauze. Penis redness or irritation should heal within a few days to a week. But call your baby's doctor right away if it gets worse or if pus-filled blisters form. These can be signs of an infection. How Often Should I Feed My Baby? Whether feeding your newborn by breast or a bottle, you may wonder how often to do so. Generally, it's recommended that babies be fed on demand β€” that is, whenever they seem hungry. Your baby may show you they're hungry by crying, putting fingers in their mouth, or making sucking noises. A newborn baby needs to be fed every 2–3 hours. Breastfed babies are probably getting enough to eat if they: seem satisfied have about 6 wet diapers and several poops a day sleep well gain weight regularly Another good way to tell if a breastfed baby is getting milk is to notice if your breasts feel full before feeding your baby and less full after feeding. If you're formula-feeding, you can easily see if your baby is getting enough to eat. Talk with your doctor if you have concerns about your baby's growth or feeding schedule. Babies often swallow air during feedings, which can make them fussy. To help prevent this, burp your baby often. What Should I Know About My Baby’s Sleep? You may be surprised to learn that newborns sleep about 16 hours or more. They typically sleep for periods of 2–4 hours. Many babies sleep through the night (between 6–8 hours) at 3 months of age, but if yours doesn't, it's not a cause for concern. Like adults, babies develop their own sleep patterns and cycles. Always place babies on their back to sleep to lower their risk of SIDS. Other safe sleeping practices include: not using blankets, quilts, sheepskins, bumpers, stuffed animals, or pillows in the crib or bassinet because they can suffocate a baby parents sharing a bedroom (but not a bed) with the baby for the first 6 months to 1 year Change the position of your baby's head from night to night (first right, then left, and so on). This helps prevent a flat spot from developing on one side of the head. Before long, you'll have a routine and be parenting like a pro. If you have questions or concerns, talk with your doctor. They can recommend resources that can help. Medically reviewed by: Amy W. Anzilotti, MD Date reviewed: May 2023 https://kidshealth.org/en/parents/guide-parents.html
  15. Relentless bombardment, power outages and shortages have pushed nearly every hospital in the beleaguered northern Gaza Strip out of service, with evidence of repeated attacks on and in the vicinity of medical facilities despite the presence of doctors, patients and civilians inside, a CNN analysis has found. At least 20 out of 22 hospitals identified by CNN in northern Gaza were damaged or destroyed in the first two months of Israel's war against Hamas, from October 7 to December 7, according to a review of 45 satellite images and around 400 videos from the ground, as well as interviews with doctors, eyewitnesses and humanitarian organizations. Fourteen were directly hit, based on the evidence collected and verified by CNN and analyzed by experts. Israel launched its bombardment and ground invasion of the Gaza Strip after Hamas’ October 7 terrorist attack, in which at least 1,200 people were killed and more than 240 others taken hostage. In the first two months of the war, at least 17,100 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks on the strip, according to the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry. At the time of publishing, that number was more than 23,400. Israel says that Hamas operates inside and underneath hospitals, and is using them for military operations, including as command centers, weapons stores and to hide hostages. The Israelis have released footage they say is evidence of those Hamas operations. The videos do not offer definitive proof, and Hamas has denied the claims. CNN sent a list of the hospitals identified as damaged or destroyed to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). In response, the IDF said it β€œdid not conduct any targeted attacks against hospitals in the Gaza Strip,” adding that β€œHamas systematically misuses hospitals and medical facilities.” Tracking how aerial bombardment has impacted hospitals in northern Gaza gives a sense of the scale and scope of devastation that the war has wrought on the enclave’s health system β€” and the knock-on impact to civilians who have relied on the facilities for shelter and care, and are more in need of their services now than ever before. https://www.cnn.com/interactive/2024/01/middleeast/gaza-hospitals-destruction-investigation-intl-cmd/

  17. Crystal Journey is a lightweight indie puzzle adventure game set in bright 3D environments that we can rotate and zoom however we like to see the level from every angle. The goal in each stage is to reach the exit guarded by a locked door. To get there, we must first find all the hidden keys by traveling along narrow paths, climbing ledges and ladders, operating buttons and switches, and using teleporters. Most levels also introduce deadly hazards, such as spikes, cannons, or lasers. Some of these can be easily avoided, while the others require precisely timed actions, which I found a bit unnerving for an otherwise relaxing game. While I appreciate the game's vibrant art style and use of the 3D space, it’s sometimes hard to navigate the levels due to the poorly responsive controls. Some elements are simply too small or covered by other objects to let us properly see them, and just a single inaccurate tap can lead our character in the wrong direction. Crystal Journey is a premium game that costs $0.49 on Android and $1.49 on iOS. Aside from a couple of frustrating levels, it is a relaxing experience that I’m sure a wide variety of puzzle fans will enjoy – despite the mediocre controls. https://minireview.io/puzzle/crystal-journey
  18. It feels weird when you've got a shiny new gaming screen sitting on your desktop, with all the rich OLED-ness we've been wanting from our monitors, to find yourself pining for the old-school IPS screen it's just displaced. But that's where I am with the new Dough Spectrum Black screen. If you were to just casually glance over the specs of Dough's long-planned OLED monitor you'd maybe be forgiven for wondering just what my issue is. It is, after all, a 27-inch 1440p OLED panel with a 240 Hz refresh rate, a response time so low you might as well just say it's effectively instant, and it all comes under a lovely glossy Gorilla Glass cover. What's not to like, as my dear ol' dad is wont to say? A surprising amount, actually. Mostly because I don't think any 27-inch 1440p display should ever be priced over $1,100. That would be the case even if it was the best example of a 1440p panel I'd ever seen, but with the pricing and the additional drawbacks of OLED as a monitor technology, that makes this far from the sweet spot of gaming monitor perfection. Sponsored Links Before plugging it in I actually thought it was going to be the brightness, or lack thereof, which would be my biggest issue using the Spectrum Black. It's sporting LG's first-gen OLED monitor panel, which means you're getting a typical 150 cd/mΒ² brightness level, with a peak of 450 cd/mΒ². You can get up to 1,000 cd/mΒ² of peak luminance in HDR mode, but only on 3% of the screen. So, you will get some pin-prick peaks of super HDR brightness, though the overall scene can remain pretty dull, especially on outside scenes. But after an initial ick over the comparatively dull imageβ€”having swapped from a crisp 750 cd/mΒ² displayβ€”I got used to it far quicker than I expected. Sure, in a brightly lit office it can look a bit dim, but even using it here in PCG Towers it's got enough about it that I've not been concerned about it. And in the poorly lit confines of my home gaming space, it really isn't a problem at all. Honestly, I don't want retina-searing full screen brightness for every moment I'm sitting in front of my gaming monitor, so I'm actually going to let it off on the brightness count. It still looks quite lovely in games, with that colour and contrast really making scenes look rich, especially when you can indulge in a little light HDR funtimes, too. Mostly. I would still prefer to have the slightly higher QD-OLED brightness Samsung's panels offer on the whole, but that's not the real kicker here. My biggest issue, it turns out, is the lack of clarity in the panel during general PC use. That isn't just a factor of my switching from a panel of the same size but with a much higher density of pixelsβ€”owing to its 4K resolution IPS panelβ€”but also because there is a real issue with fonts at this 1440p scale on an OLED monitor. The thing is, I could probably live with it. If this was my only display, and I was primarily gaming on it, too. I'd enjoy schlepping around a neon-lit Night City, and double-tapping randos in Hitman, and I'd probably forget all about the slightly indistinct nature of the text and grow used to the slight nagging headache from staring at it all day long. Because there are still a lot of good points about this screen. The classic OLED blacks and deeply and truly inky, the contrast is crisp and the response speedy. The 240 Hz refresh is welcome, too, and offers a frame rate match more attainable thanks to the 1440p resolution. In-game that slightly lower brightness isn't a problem because the deeper contrast offers genuine HDR, especially when it can show off those pin-prick 1,000 cd/m2 peaks of luminance. I also like Dough's attention to the style of the screen, and, were it not for larger bezels because of the over-provisioning of pixels so it can pixel-shift the screen to accommodate the potential of OLED-based burn-in, I'd say it was one of the best-looking OLED monitors I've seen. It's thinner on the rear of the screen than most and still comes with a huge number of connectivity options. I dig the USB Type-C hub, the 100 W power delivery over the alt DisplayPort protocol, and the fact you get a KVM switch built in. There are also a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports to go along with the DisplayPort 1.4 option for those console folk. https://www.pcgamer.com/hardware/gaming-monitors/dough-spectrum-black-27-oled-gaming-monitor-review/

  21. Graphics cards are a fine piece of technology responsible for handling and outputting images on your system's screen. While they enhance your computer's graphics by speeding up the overall graphics processing time, they may not be necessary if you do not carry out activities that require heavy graphics processing (such as modern gaming or 3D modeling) on your device. Graphics card errors could cause your device to periodically malfunction –especially while playing heavy games. You may have experiences of your computer freezing, hanging, crashing, and abnormal screen color display or weird color patterns on your screen. These are some symptoms to take note of: Driver crashes Computer's screen going blank while other lights on keyboard or CPU are on (indicating a working computer) Loud fan sounds (which may be from your system's motherboard or the graphics card's cooling system) All these are symptoms of a bad graphics card. This guide provides several ways of fixing these errors, but before jumping into the fixes available for bad graphics cards, here are a few things you should know: 1. What's Graphics Card A graphics card is a graphics-enhancing technology; It may be a display adapter or video card within a computer's motherboard or installed and connected to the motherboard externally. The graphics card is a piece dedicated to providing very clear or high definition graphics data. In most cases, large games or software for 3D modeling will require a high GPU (Graphics Processing Unit), which may not come originally built into your device. In such cases, a graphics card will be required for optimal user experience. 2. What Can Cause a Graphics Card to Fail? Numerous errors can cause your graphics or video card to fail. Here's a summary of what leads to a broken graphics card: Poor ventilation Device overheating Dead graphics card fans Blown capacitors Outdated drivers Insufficient power supply to GPU The causes of graphics card failure are numerous, but those listed above are usually the case. Generally, overheating and power supply issues are the major causes. The effects of overheating can be severe and immediate (usually the cause of the video card error 43). Your graphics card is an electronic device made of tiny electronic components such as resistors and capacitors; an increase in temperature beyond your card's limit can result in these components physically damaged. Your GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) requires a constant and sufficient power supply, especially when playing games that heavily utilize your GPU. 3. Symptoms of Bad Graphics Card The symptoms of graphics or video card errors are numerous. It would help if you were mindful of your graphics card whenever you notice any of these symptoms. Here's a summary: Distorted visuals or weird patterns displayed on the screen Periodic driver crashes The loud noise made by fans Black screen Blue screen appearing during gaming Unexpected system reboots 4. Graphics Card Errors VS Video Errors There's no distinction between graphics cards and video cards –they mean the same things. However, there's a distinction between the symptoms of graphics card errors and video errors, and this is not to be mistaken for normal video errors. Symptoms of graphics card errors have been listed above under the 'Symptoms of Bad Graphics Card' while symptoms of video errors as a result of bad graphics card includes: Strange colors displayed while watching videos Jerky and stuttering videos Screen freezing while playing videos Part 2. How to Fix Graphics Card Errors Okay, let's dive straight into the various known ways of solving graphics card errors without wasting more time. Before running to a technician or disassembling it yourself to go real technical on it, here are a few things to try to fix your graphics card errors the easy way. First, recall that there are some symptoms of bad graphics card errors, as mentioned earlier in this post. Recalling these symptoms may make it easier for you. A poorly ventilated graphics card, for instance, may need good ventilation to work again. So, try these things: Overheating is one of the most common causes of graphics card errors. Whether the graphics card came with its cooling system or depends on the main device's cooling system requires proper ventilation. One way to know if your motherboard or graphics card is overheating is if you hear a sudden roaring fan sound in your device after launching a video game that utilizes lots of your GPU. Always use your device in well-ventilated places –especially when playing games. All the heat generated by your computer's motherboard needs to be dissipated. 2. Update The Drivers Apart from the possibility that your graphics or video card drivers are outdated, it is always good to check and update your drivers. Updating your graphics card drivers is a good way to keep up with the ever-changing gaming technologies. Check the link that corresponds to your graphic card's manufacturers; NVidia AMD Intel Better still, you can automatically update drivers on Windows using the following steps: Step 1. Launch Device Manager Hold down the Windows Key + R on your keyboard, type cmd into the dialogue that pops up, and launch the Windows command prompt. Step 2. Type 'devmgmt. msc' into the window and hit the Enter key on your keyboard. Alternatively, you can click the Windows icon at the bottom left corner of your screen and type "Device Manager" into the search box to find and launch it. https://recoverit.wondershare.com/video-repair/how-to-fix-graphics-card.html
