One of the world's deadliest snakes has been found in a container of rocks that a stonemason had ordered from India. The saw-scaled viper was an unexpected, and unwelcome, stowaway in the shipment, and was reported to South Essex Wildlife Hospital. The venomous viper is seen as one of south Asia's deadliest because they are often found close to inhabited areas. It has been locked in a box, in a sealed room, and is awaiting collection by an expert, the hospital said. An amateur diver exploring shallow waters off northern Israel has found a sword thought to have belonged to a crusader knight 900 years ago. The one-metre (3.3ft) blade was discovered by Shlomi Katzin in shallow waters off Haifa. It is thought the sword, heavily encrusted with marine organisms, resurfaced after the shifting of sands. A 3.3 foot-long (1 meter) sea scorpion prowled the seas of what is now China some 435 million years ago, using its giant, spiny arms to ensnare prey. The second decree, of the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water, (promulgated on August 05, 2021 and published in the BO of September 23, 2021) clarifies the regulatory mechanism for the implementation of the EURO 6b standard for new homologations of new vehicles. Thus, from January 1, 2023, any new homologation of a new model must obligatorily meet the characteristics of Standard EURO 6b. The surfer, who has not been publicly identified other than that he is in his 30s, was bitten in the thigh about 9 a.m. Sunday near the Sonoma Coast north of Bodega Bay, said Bodega Bay Fire Protection Division Capt. David Bynum. The surfer's condition was unknown Monday. He was conscious when he was airlifted and is expected to survive, Bynum said. The man was first helped to shore by surfers who applied a tourniquet to his thigh with surfboard leashes, which another bystander later replaced with a manufactured tourniquet, Bynum said. First responders arrived within minutes and continued to treat the surfer, who was airlifted to a hospital by the California Highway Patrol, Bynum said. “The tourniquet was crucial. That’s what made the difference between a life-threatening injury and a stable patient,” he said. “He’s fortunate. He had a lot of help right from the start.”
