Introduction The OnePlus 10T is the company's latest premium smartphone. While not quite the new flagship, the 10T packs in many of the features and specifications one might expect from a modern Android smartphone along with enough sacrifices to keep the price in check. The OnePlus T-series started off as a riff on the iPhone S series all the way back in 2016 with the OnePlus 3T and has been a mainstay of the company lineup ever since. This year's 10T isn't necessarily an update over anything as there was no OnePlus 10 to build upon. But that may as well be for the best as OnePlus' non-Pro models have always been overshadowed by the Pro version and launching it a few months later with the T badge should help it stand out a bit more. And that's pretty much what the OnePlus 10T is. It's the phone we would have most likely gotten back in March alongside the more expensive OnePlus 10 Pro had OnePlus followed its usual launch strategy, but are instead getting in August with an updated processor and a few extra bells and whistles. OnePlus 10T specs at a glance: Body: 163.0x75.4x8.8mm, 204g; Glass front (Gorilla Glass 5), glass back (Gorilla Glass 5), plastic frame. Display: 6.70" LTPO2 Fluid AMOLED, 1B colors, 120Hz, HDR10+, 1080x2412px resolution, 20.1:9 aspect ratio, 394ppi. Chipset: Qualcomm SM8475 Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (4 nm): Octa-core (1x3.19 GHz Cortex-X2 & 3x2.75 GHz Cortex-A710 & 4x1.80 GHz Cortex-A510); Adreno 730. Memory: 128GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 12GB RAM; UFS 3.1. OS/Software: Android 12, OxygenOS 12.1. Rear camera: Wide (main): 50 MP, f/1.8, 24mm, 1/1.56", 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS; Ultra wide angle: 16 MP, f/2.2; Depth: 2 MP, f/2.4. Front camera: 32 MP, f/2.5, (wide). Video capture: Rear camera: 4K@30fps, 1080p@30/60/120fps, gyro-EIS; Front camera: 1080p@30fps, gyro-EIS. Battery: 4800mAh; Fast charging 150W. Misc: Fingerprint reader (under display, optical); NFC; stereo speakers. What are these bells and whistles, we hear you ask. For one, the OnePlus 10T comes with the same incredible 150W charging solution that we saw on the OnePlus 10R, except now it is more sophisticated, efficient, and safer. There's also a new cooling system, said to be the best on any OnePlus phone to date, along with a new antenna system. And then, of course, is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 making its debut on a OnePlus phone along with 16GB of RAM. All in all, it seems like the OnePlus 10T has the company's typical focus on speed and performance. But let's see how the rest of the phone stacks up. OnePlus 10T unboxing The OnePlus 10T comes with a fairly standard OnePlus packaging. The boxes have gotten smaller over the years but retain all of the same items you'd have gotten before, including a charger, which is becoming increasingly rare these days. The charger, in case, is an Oppo 160W SuperVOOC. It's a rather sizable piece of equipment and also weighs a fair bit. It uses a USB-C connection and also supports 45W USB-PD charging. While the charger is common to all regions, the 150W charging will only be supported in regions with 220V power sockets, while regions like the US with 110V outlets will cause the charger to limit itself to 125W. In certain markets like India, you can also expect to get a clear silicone case inside the box. https://www.gsmarena.com/oneplus_10t-review-2458.php

We’ve turned another page on the calendar, with a new month starting today. And you know what that means — another four weeks of all-new streaming content, starting with a slew of Netflix movies that hit the platform today. For a more comprehensive list of everything coming to Netflix this month, check out our coverage right here. Meanwhile, below, we’ll break down some of the most interesting Netflix movies to watch among the titles debuting today. And don’t forget: You can follow our coverage of the top global releases on Netflix every Tuesday. Plus learn five of the hottest titles to watch on Netflix over the coming week every Friday. And, finally, there’s also our ongoing coverage of new weekly and monthly additions to the streamer. Netflix movies to watch The eight Netflix movies below cover the gamut, from comedy to intense drama to even one near-perfect classic starring Ben Affleck (yes, one of those actually exists). Additionally, we’ve included Netflix hyperlinks for each title, along with descriptions from the streamer. One final note about the titles here. In this post, we’re focusing on third-party Netflix movies. The streamer’s original movie content, we’ll cover elsewhere. Those titles in August include Carter, a gritty new action-packed Korean-language movie. Furthermore, if you’re a documentary fan, you’ll also want to put Bank Robbers: The Last Great Heist on your watch list. More classic movies to check out on Netflix If you need some more variety, meanwhile, you can also check out four more titles below. By the way, the classic that we alluded to above? It’s The Town, included below — a 2010 heist movie with a cast that includes Affleck, Rebecca Hall, and Jeremy Renner. Also, the movie includes an unforgettable turn by Pete Postlethwaite, who plays Fergus “Fergie” Colm. Calm is a local mob boss, and Postlethwaite gives him the most sinister Irish accent you’ve ever heard in your life. The actor was dying while making the movie, making this one of his final performances. Not only that, but Postlethwaite’s performance during the floral shop scene, near the end of The Town, makes it worth the price of admission all by itself. There are certainly plenty of great Netflix movies here to keep you busy. However, The Town is probably the #1 entry on this list that you absolutely need to watch right now if you haven’t yet. Other Netflix news A few weeks ago, Netflix shared its latest quarterly earnings report. And it gave us, among other things, a preview of what the rest of this year has in store for the service. It was the second quarter in a row that saw Netflix shed subscribers, for example, following the 200,000 lost during the previous three-month reporting period. To say this is a hugely consequential moment for Netflix is probably the understatement of the year, given that the streamer is beset by everything from stepped-up competition to perceptions about content quality slipping, revenue lost from password-sharers, and cost-conscious subscribers looking to save money. https://bgr.com/entertainment/29-new-movies-hit-netflix-today-here-are-8-you-need-to-watch/

Cats spend a quarter of their waking life washing themselves with their tongues. Why do cats lick their fur? It should be noted that these cats sleep approximately 14 hours a day, and for their health, they usually spend several hours bathing. These are the reasons why cats lick their fur. Keep reading: Why do cats love boxes? Why do cats have scratchy tongues? Cats' tongues contain 300 small, hollow, rigid spoon-shaped papillae that allow them to wet the base of their fur with saliva. This was observed by American researchers with the help of high-resolution cameras. Until now, the consensus was that these papillae were conical in shape, like claws, the scientists wrote in their paper published a few days ago in the Proceedings of the US National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). Keep reading: What the 5 most common gestures mean in the language of cats The papillae actually end in small, hollow, curved tips. This shape attracts and stores the saliva by tension, and it is transferred to the base of the hairs. In addition, having a spoon shape allows them to collect more saliva and carry the liquid to their skin, without it remaining on the surface of the hair. Why do cats lick themselves? Cats lick themselves to maintain their fur to prevent matting. In addition, they remove dirt and fleas. Since, saliva also has a cleaning power. The fur of these cats contains a top layer that protects it. In addition, they have an underlayer of fluff for warmth. On the other hand, cats perspire only through the pads of their paws. So when it's hot, licking each other allows them to cool down the body. Keep reading: The brain of domestic cats is getting smaller because of humans Cats licking stimulates blood flow. The papillae measure an average of 2.3 millimeters in the six feline species studied. Some examples are the domestic cat, the tiger and the lion. The authors, for the study, captured the tongues of domestic cats in action with a camera that records 100 photos per second. The researchers, interested in the practical applications of these findings, believe that human hairbrushes could be improved from the feline model. LYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The two Republican members of Congress from Washington who drew interparty challenges due to their vote to impeach former President Donald Trump were leading other Republicans in the state’s top two primary Wednesday. Under Washington’s primary system, all candidates run on the same ballot, and the top two vote getters in each of Tuesday’s races advance to the November election, regardless of party — a system observers say may have helped the GOP incumbents in Washington who had been targeted by Trump. In early returns, Reps. Jaime Herrera Beutler and Dan Newhouse looked as they may advance to the general election with a Democratic candidate in each of their races. Trump-endorsed candidates in both races were in third place. Because Washington is a vote-by-mail state and ballots just need to be in by Election Day, it can take days to learn final results as ballots arrive at county election offices throughout the week. Of the 10 House Republicans who voted for impeachment following the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, four opted not to run for reelection. Michigan Rep. Peter Meijer was defeated in a primary Tuesday by Trump-endorsed John Gibbs and Rep. Tom Rice of South Carolina lost to a Trump-endorsed challenger in June. Rep. David Valadao of California — which has an open primary like Washington — survived a primary challenge. Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming is bracing for defeat in her Aug. 16 primary against a Trump-backed rival. If Herrera Beutler and Newhouse ultimately advance to the general election ballot as Valadao did, it will be in large part due to the mechanics of the top two primary, said Cornell Clayton, director of the Thomas S. Foley Institute for Public Policy at Washington State University. “The top two primary is designed to favor more moderate candidates and make it more difficult for the extremes in either party to primary moderate candidates,” he said. The number of Republican candidates in these particular two races gave an advantage to Democrats' chances in claiming one of the top two spots, leaving the Republican vote split, Clayton notes. Herrera Beutler faced eight opponents, half of whom are Republicans, and Newhouse faced seven, including six Republicans. “There is a slight incumbent advantage among those Republicans,” Clayton said. Herrera Beutler, who represents the 3rd Congressional District in the southwestern part of the state, had about 25% of the vote Tuesday night, and Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez captured nearly 32%. Joe Kent – a former Green Beret endorsed by Trump who faced significant spending against him from another Republican who attacked him from the right – was at 20%. “Right now, I am focused on making sure not to get out over my skis,” Herrera Beutler, who is seeking her seventh term, said in a Zoom news conference with reporters Tuesday night. “I’m excited about the numbers but we’re not done yet, we still have more votes to count.” Kent Tweeted Wednesday that dozens of precincts haven't reported their tallies yet and that “there's still a pathway.” Rep. Dan Newhouse, the four-term incumbent in the 4th Congressional District in central Washington, had just over 27% of the vote in early returns, followed by Democrat Doug White, who had about 26%. Loren Culp, a Trump-endorsed former small town police chief who lost the 2020 governor’s race to Democrat Jay Inslee, was just under 22%. Culp noted on Facebook that the difference between first and third place is a difference of just over 4,100 votes. “The race is tight and more than half of the vote is still out!” he wrote. Counties in both districts are expected to update their tallies later Wednesday afternoon and evening, and most counties will post updates daily until all of the votes are counted. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/open-primary-may-save-trumps-gop-targets-in-washington/ar-AA10heLt?li=BBnb7Kz

Introduction and specs Realme is once again trying to stand out from the crowd with funky new design, deliver yet another of its Master series phones. The Realme GT2 Explorer Master is the most powerful phone yet to be adorned by a design co-created with a famous designer only this time the maker signed up Jae-Jung rather than Naoto Fukasawa. And unlike the GT Explorer Master, the GT2 Explorer Master is the company's most powerful phone yet instead of an upper mid-ranger. The "Travel Trunk" design means that this isn't just another boring bar phone, but its internals are also largely impressive. Not only is the phone running the latest and greatest from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, but it's also equipped with an advanced cooling system. Judging by our previous experience with Realme's phones running the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, we feel quite optimistic about this. Furthermore, the GT2 Explorer Master has two touch-sensitive areas on the right side of the frame aiming to appeal to gamers as much as it does to fashionistas. They are not marked, so the areas remain inconspicuous, which is great as it doesn't ruin the overall design and symmetry. And that's on top of the advanced gaming-related features under the Realme GT Mode 3.0. Realme GT2 Explorer Master specs at a glance: Body: 161.3x74.3x8.2mm, 195g; glass or vegan leather back, glass front, aluminum side frame. Display: 6.70" OLED, 1B colors, 120Hz, HDR10+, 1080x2400px resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 393ppi. Chipset: Qualcomm SM8475 Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (4 nm): Octa-core (1x3.19 GHz Cortex-X2 & 3x2.75 GHz Cortex-A710 & 4x1.80 GHz Cortex-A510); Adreno 730. Memory: 256GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 12GB RAM; UFS 3.1. OS/Software: Android 12, Realme UI 3.0. Rear camera: Wide (main): 50 MP, f/1.8, 24mm, 1/1.56", 1.0µm, multi-directional PDAF, OIS; Ultrawide angle: 50 MP, f/2.2, 15mm, 150˚; Microscopic: 3 MP, f/3.3, (microscope), AF, 40x magnification. Front camera: 16MP, f/2.5. Video capture: Rear camera: 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60fps, gyro-EIS; Front camera: 1080p@30fps. Battery: 5000mAh; Fast charging 100W. Misc: Fingerprint reader (under display, optical); NFC; stereo speakers. Photography capabilities aren't neglected, although it's the one area where this phone doesn't bring the best from Realme. The camera setup is almost identical to the GT2 Pro's, with Sony's 50MP IMX766 sensor in the lead, accompanied by another 50MP sensor behind a 150-degree FoV ultrawide lens. The 3MP microscopic camera is also carried over - it may hav limited impact on the overall imaging prowess, but enables some cool uses. Another major upgrade over the original Explorer Master from last year and the GT2 Pro from this one is the charging. The GT2 Explorer Master is powered by a big 5,000 mAh battery supporting 100W fast charging and Realme says it needs less than 30 minutes for a full charge. The new GaN materials used for the battery tech ensure a longer life span, but more on that in the following pages. The really bad news is this phone will be limited to the Chinese market. So acquiring one outside the country will be troublesome, not to mention that you'll have to live with the limitation of software not tailored to your market even if the Google Suite is easily enabled. Still, we believe the GT2 Explorer Master is an exciting device, not least because it's the first Realme phone with the updated Plus version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, so we are curious what the maker made of it. Unboxing the Realme GT2 Explorer Master The Realme GT2 Explorer Master comes in a pretty big box. It contains all the usual user manuals, a USB-A to USB-C cable for charging and data transfer, the appropriate 65W charger and a nice-looking gray silicone case for extra protection. Better yet, the case provides nice grip and doesn't feel as cheap as most of the other cases OEMs bundle with their phones. In other words it can be a long-term solution rather than a stopgap until you order something better. https://www.gsmarena.com/realme_gt2_explorer_master-review-2457.php

Researchers in New Zealand have kicked off a new trial for a CRISPR-based cure for high cholesterol. The trial will test the efficacy and success of the one-and-done treatment, which has seen success in animal trials. Researchers are hopeful the treatment will be as efficient in people as in animals. If successful, it could help permanently lower cholesterol levels and the risk of heart attack, saving countless lives. Cure for high cholesterol enters first human trial High cholesterol is a serious health issue that 25 percent of Americans deal with. The waxy material is produced by the liver and can be found in some foods we eat. It comes in two different types, and both circulate in the blood. The first type, HDL, can protect you against disease with a healthy amount in your blood. LDL, however, can cause high cholesterol and increase the risk of heart disease. Of course, cutting certain foods and focusing on healthy foods can help lower your cholesterol levels. There are also pills called statins that can help lower cholesterol, too. but neither of these is a solid cure for high cholesterol because they require strict discipline and upkeep. Other drug treatments for cholesterol have popped up, too, but they can be expensive. This new cure for high cholesterol is a one-and-done treatment, though. And once taken, it permanently deactivates a gene in the liver that is linked to the removal of excess cholesterol from the body. The gene in question controls the production of PCSK9. This protein normally prevents the removal of excess cholesterol from the body. By deactivating the gene, the body could better clean itself out. Success in animal trials The cure for high cholesterol has moved to human trials as the animal trials have seen an insane amount of success. A trial with monkeys saw a drop in LDL cholesterol levels by up to 70 percent in just two weeks. It then kept the levels low for at least two years. As such, the researchers are confident it could be just as—if not more—successful in humans. The cure was made possible thanks to CRISPR, a gene-editing system researchers have been using for several years. The system allows the researchers to focus in on certain genes. The treatment also doesn’t use a hollowed-out virus to deliver the cure for high cholesterol to patients, either. Instead, it uses nanoparticles to deliver genetic instructions to the cells. Other gene-editing feats we’ve seen recently include genetically modified mosquitos used to help control mosquito po[CENSORED]tions. We could even one day see hypoallergenic cats thanks to gene editing. https://bgr.com/science/first-crispr-cure-for-high-cholesterol-enters-human-trial-phase/

Sable Island horses have inhabited the island for hundreds of years. Now scientists question the impact. Sable Island is an island located in the Atlantic Ocean, near the Canadian coast. At 40 kilometers long, the island is so narrow that you can see the sea from one end of its width to the other. There is a record of this island since the 1500s, when Portuguese sailors were in charge of drawing a map of the American territory and its surroundings. Wild horses and their impact on the island Sable Island is known for its vast po[CENSORED]tion of wild horses. However, they did not always exist on the island. The island's home to horses dates only to the 18th century, when a Boston merchant abandoned the horses he had either bought or stolen after the British drove the Acadians out of Nova Scotia and forced them to leave their cattle in the continent. Horses and their descendants gradually po[CENSORED]ted Sable Island. The efforts to maintain this po[CENSORED]tion of horses in optimal conditions were maintained, so much so that by the 19th century more horses were introduced to 'improve' the po[CENSORED]tion that inhabited the island. The plan turned out the opposite, the animals were captured and used as work animals on dry land. By the middle of the next century, the destiny that humans planned for horses took a completely different turn. The federal government decided to eliminate all wild horses from Sable Island, without success as the human po[CENSORED]tion protested against this act and finally declared the species as protected in 1961. We suggest: They capture chimpanzees digging wells in the jungle to filter clean water in Africa A threat to the ecosystem Scientists have been warning since the 1950s that horses are having a detrimental impact on the well-being of their habitat. But it was not until 1998 that the Canadian Wildlife Service began a scientific, rigorous and in-depth study of the damage caused by wild horses. “THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT HORSES ARE AFFECTING THE ECOSYSTEM. THAT'S VISUALLY EVIDENT TO ANYONE WHO COMES TO THE ISLAND,” SAYS DAN KEHLER, AN ECOLOGIST AT THE SABLE ISLAND NATIONAL PARK RESERVE, WHICH SPANS THE ENTIRE ISLAND. “I THINK THE QUESTION FOR US IS WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF SOME OF THOSE EFFECTS?” One of these consequences has been the apparent increase in invertebrates in some ponds, because the excrement of the horses enhances the growth of algae, which is the food of the invertebrates. Although this would seem like a positive consequence, Andrew Medeiros, a specialist in freshwater bodies, affirms that the po[CENSORED]tions could become parasitic. The debate is evident: those who want to protect the wild horses of Sable Island and those who want to protect other species and the environment from the damage they cause. The different positions have opened the panorama for a very specific question: How do you decide which species belongs to which place? Hundreds of animals have been transported from one continent to another for centuries; they have reproduced, left offspring and mutated according to the new conditions of life. What to do with these species? Should they return to their places of origin? Do they already belong to their new homes? The conclusion is far from clear-cut, and the Sable Island horses are just one of many cases of human-introduced animals affecting their ecosystem. https://www.ngenespanol.com/animales/por-que-los-caballos-salvajes-de-sable-island-son-un-amenaza-para-el-ecosistema-que-han-habitado-por-siglos/

This midsize SUV is one of the first models born from the partnership between GM and PSA, when Opel still belonged to the American giant. It uses the EMP-2 modular platform, the same as the Peugeot 3008, and stands out for its high level of equipment, both in terms of safety and connectivity. Likewise, it is offered with the best gasoline engines (PureTech 1.2) and BlueHDi (1.5 and 2.0), offering one of the best consumption averages in the SUV segment in Chile. https://www.autocosmos.cl/autos/suv-diesel
