  3. OnePlus isn't just a phone brand, it's a personality brand. The company carved out a niche for itself among Android enthusiasts and power users with its “never settle” motto and flexible yet slick software. Even as its growing po[CENSORED]rity pushed it into the mainstream and prices kept rising, it remained different enough to keep its fans happy. However, all of that is now changing. OnePlus has been absorbed into sister company Oppo, their software efforts have been merged, and that differentiation is eroding. The brand new OnePlus 10T 5G is a bit intriguing since the ‘T' designation is usually used for mid-year refreshes, but there was no OnePlus 10. It's newer than the OnePlus 10 Pro (Review) and has a few features that could be considered more modern, but it being launched as a successor. In terms of price and positioning, the 10T 5G starts at Rs. 49,999 for the base variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There's an option with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for Rs. 54,999, and if you want to go up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, it will cost just a little more at Rs. 55,999. So what exactly do you get? Is this just any old phone or has OnePlus found a new way to stand out? Here are our first impressions of the OnePlus 10T 5G. Instead of the usual tall OnePlus box, we have a pretty standard design now. It contains a protective case, a Red Cable Club membership card, some stickers, and a letter from OnePlus in addition to the phone it self, a huge 160W charger, and a red USB Type-C cable. You can see that there's some resemblance to the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G in the way that the cameras are arranged, but rather than a separate band, the rear panel of the 10T 5G just bulges a little. You'll also notice how extremely reflective the rear panel of this phone is. The volume buttons are on the left, the power button is on the right, and there's no alert slider. There are small speaker and mic holes on the top, and the bottom is where you'll find the dual-SIM tray, USB Type-C port and primary speaker. I didn't get a very premium feel from the 10T 5G even though the rear is made of glass. It's quite bulky and heavy, at 8.75mm thick and 203.5g. This phone is available in a slightly textured Moonstone Black finish, but what we have here is the glossy Jade Green. All variants of the 10T 5G support 150W charging, and if you're worried about safety, OnePlus has a laundry list of measures it has taken which we'll talk about in the full review. You can use the included brick to charge other devices including some laptops, since it is compatible with USB-PD up to 45W. During the setup process, you'll see options for privacy and personalisation. You can choose a system font, set up security, and even practise navigation gestures. We see a few preloaded apps including Netflix, OnePlus Community, and a game manager. This unit came running OxygenOS 12.1 based on Android 12 with the July security patch. If you dig through the settings you'll find quite a few personalisation options. Considering that OnePlus has also just announced OxygenOS 13, it's unfortunate that the 10T 5G doesn't ship with it. OnePlus calls the design of the 10T 5G “burdenless”, which is supposed to convey a sense of purposefulness and precision. That's a euphemistic way to soften a fairly controversial blow – OnePlus has ditched the familiar alert slider, one of its most visible ways to differentiate itself from other Android players. This simple switch apparently needed too much space within the body, and OnePlus says it chose to prioritise those few square millimetres for battery capacity, better cooling, and better antennas. It's likely that there were some cost savings for the company as well, but much like "courageously" losing the 3.5mm headphone jack years ago, I don't really see how this improves anything for the user. Other features that OnePlus seems to think its fans can live without, even at this price level, include wireless charging, an official IP rating, and eSIM support. Even the Hasselblad camera branding has been dropped. Considering that this built its fanbase by with “never settle” as its battle cry, this is quite a surprise. OnePlus says the 10 Pro 5G is still the flagship option for those who want the best camera capabilities, while the 10T 5G will appeal more to gamers and those who want fast charging. On the plus side, you get the top-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC with an elaborate cooling system, up to a staggering 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. OnePlus says you can have over 30 apps running in the background so you can always pick up where you left off, with the top-end variant. The 6.7-inch fluid AMOLED panel has a full-HD+ resolution, a 120Hz peak refresh rate, and an integrated fingerprint sensor. The borders are slim all around, and there's no thick chin. It supports HDR 10+ and is made of Gorilla Glass 5. The OnePlus 10T 5G also features a 4800mAh battery, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and GPS. The main rear camera uses a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor with optical stabilisation and has an f/1.8 aperture. There's also a pretty basic 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and 2-megapixel macro camera. The front camera has a 16-megapixel resolution. These specifications aren't really inspiring but OnePlus promises rich detail even in low light thanks to 10-bit colour capture support and improved processing algorithms. Video recording goes up to 4K 60fps. OnePlus' most recent launch before this, the 10R (Review), is physically identical to the Realme GT Neo 3 (Review) and doesn't fit the OnePlus mould at all. Now, the launch of the 10T 5G continues on that trajectory and raises a lot of questions. Who is it for? Where does it fit relative to the heavily discounted OnePlus 10 Pro 5G? Are the tradeoffs worth it? And most importantly – is OnePlus still OnePlus? All that aside, we're in the process of testing the 10T 5G to see how it balances its SoC power with camera quality, battery life, charging speed, design, and of course the OxygenOS experience. Do stay tuned to Gadgets 360; a detailed review is coming up very soon. https://gadgets360.com/mobiles/reviews/oneplus-10t-launch-price-first-impressions-3218204#pfrom=indepth
  4. Introduction The OnePlus 10T is the company's latest premium smartphone. While not quite the new flagship, the 10T packs in many of the features and specifications one might expect from a modern Android smartphone along with enough sacrifices to keep the price in check. The OnePlus T-series started off as a riff on the iPhone S series all the way back in 2016 with the OnePlus 3T and has been a mainstay of the company lineup ever since. This year's 10T isn't necessarily an update over anything as there was no OnePlus 10 to build upon. But that may as well be for the best as OnePlus' non-Pro models have always been overshadowed by the Pro version and launching it a few months later with the T badge should help it stand out a bit more. And that's pretty much what the OnePlus 10T is. It's the phone we would have most likely gotten back in March alongside the more expensive OnePlus 10 Pro had OnePlus followed its usual launch strategy, but are instead getting in August with an updated processor and a few extra bells and whistles. OnePlus 10T specs at a glance: Body: 163.0x75.4x8.8mm, 204g; Glass front (Gorilla Glass 5), glass back (Gorilla Glass 5), plastic frame. Display: 6.70" Fluid AMOLED, 1B colors, 120Hz, HDR10+, 1080x2412px resolution, 20.1:9 aspect ratio, 394ppi. Chipset: Qualcomm SM8475 Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (4 nm): Octa-core (1x3.19 GHz Cortex-X2 & 3x2.75 GHz Cortex-A710 & 4x1.80 GHz Cortex-A510); Adreno 730. Memory: 128GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 12GB RAM; UFS 3.1. OS/Software: Android 12, OxygenOS 12.1. Rear camera: Wide (main): 50 MP, f/1.8, 24mm, 1/1.56", 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS; Ultra wide angle: 16 MP, f/2.2; Depth: 2 MP, f/2.4. Front camera: 32 MP, f/2.5, (wide). Video capture: Rear camera: 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60/120fps, gyro-EIS; Front camera: 1080p@30fps, gyro-EIS. Battery: 4800mAh; Fast charging 150W. Misc: Fingerprint reader (under display, optical); NFC; stereo speakers. What are these bells and whistles, we hear you ask. For one, the OnePlus 10T comes with the same incredible 150W charging solution that we saw on the OnePlus 10R, except now it is more sophisticated, efficient, and safer. There's also a new cooling system, said to be the best on any OnePlus phone to date, along with a new antenna system. And then, of course, is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 making its debut on a OnePlus phone along with 16GB of RAM. All in all, it seems like the OnePlus 10T has the company's typical focus on speed and performance. But let's see how the rest of the phone stacks up. OnePlus 10T unboxing The OnePlus 10T comes with a fairly standard OnePlus packaging. The boxes have gotten smaller over the years but retain all of the same items you'd have gotten before, including a charger, which is becoming increasingly rare these days. The charger, in case, is an Oppo 160W SuperVOOC. It's a rather sizable piece of equipment and also weighs a fair bit. It uses a USB-C connection and also supports 45W USB-PD charging. While the charger is common to all regions, the 150W charging will only be supported in regions with 220V power sockets, while regions like the US with 110V outlets will cause the charger to limit itself to 125W. In certain markets like India, you can also expect to get a clear silicone case inside the box. https://www.gsmarena.com/oneplus_10t-review-2458.php
  5. It’s time to recheck your power tools following a big recall earlier this year. Two new recall actions are in place concerning devices that might cut you while you’re using them. One of them is DeWALT’s 12-inch Sliding Compound Miter Saws which sold more than 1.4 million units across the US and Canada. The other involves Makita’s cordless hedge trimmers, which sold only about 2,600 units in the US. Both devices have the same problem. A part that should protect the user might lead to laceration injuries. DeWALT already received 571 malfunction reports, including 9 injuries. DeWALT’s power tool recall DeWALT announced the 12-inch Sliding Compound Miter Saws recall this week. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) posted the announcement at this link. Similarly, the Canadian recall authority published its own report — you can see it here. The company explains the power tool features a rear safety guard that can break or detach. If that happens, the user and bystanders might be exposed to projectiles. They also risk coming in contact with the power tool’s saw blade, which is obviously quite dangerous. DeWALT sold 1,364,000 12-inch Sliding Compound Miter Saws in the US. Moreover, Canadian buyers bought an additional 118,600 units. In the US, the power tool models in the recall were available at Lowe’s, Home Depot, and other hardware stores nationwide. Customers might have also purchased them online at Amazon, Lowes, and other websites. The company sold the saws for between $600 and $820 from April 2019 through May 2022. DeWALT says the power tool recall involves models DWS779, DWS780, and DHS790 Miter Saws. You’ll find the model numbers on the saw’s nameplate. But only the models with date codes 2019 04 through 2022 04 suffer from the problem. The date codes appear on the black plastic motor end cap adjacent to the nameplate on the DWS779 and DWS780 models. The DHS790 model has the date code on the outside of the yellow plastic housing adjacent to the batteries. Furthermore, the recall only covers saws without a green dot on the nameplate or a black dot on the arm. Makita’s cordless hedge trimmer recall The next power tool recall also involves an electric device made for cutting. We’re looking at Makita’s cordless hedge trimmers, which also pose the risk of injury to users. The company announced the recall this week and this action is limited to the US. The CPSC report is available at this link. Makita explains that the teal guard on the hedge trimmer’s shear blade is missing. As a result, the trimmer has an increased chance of causing injury while in use. The company sold the power tool in the recall nationwide from February 2022 through June 2022. The device cost between $260 and $460. Makita sold about 2,600 units, which were available at various home improvement and hardware stores. It was also sold online via Home Depot and Amazon. Various model numbers and serial numbers are included in the recall. You’ll find the model number on the side of the trimmer. The serial number sits on the battery mounting port. Model NumberS/N fromS/N to XHU07Z62401Y62688Y 63136Y63459Y 65101Y65388Y 67401Y67796Y 2495K2854K 3403K3762K XHU07T60961Y61032Y 61461Y61568Y 63921Y64064Y 65389Y65712Y XHU08Z17255Y17326Y 18144Y18203Y 18588Y18683Y 19352Y19435Y 1040K1267K XHU08T17636Y17671Y 18684Y18839Y Unlike DeWALT’s power tools, the Makita hedge trimmer in this recall has not yet caused any known injuries. What you should do If you own any of these power tools, you should stop using them to avoid the risk of injury. Both recalls offer the same remedy in the form of free repairs. DeWALT urges customers to contact the company for info on how to receive a free repair kit. Alternatively, you can take the power tool to a DeWALT service center for a free repair. The company will contact all known buyers, but you can also reach out. American buyers will find contact information for DeWALT at this link. Canadians should check out the local recall announcement. Makita also instructs customers to stop using the power tools in the recall. They should contact the company to arrange a free repair. Makita will provide consumers with a merchandise return label so they can ship the trimmer back for repairs. Then, the company will return the fixed trimmer with a teal guard on the blade. Contact information for Makita is available at this link. https://bgr.com/lifestyle/massive-power-tool-recall-1-4-million-tools-recalled-9-people-already-injured/
  6. A Nile monitor lizard appeared on the Xochimilco jetty. Its origin is still unknown. On August 1, several citizens warned about the presence of an alleged crocodile in the canals of the Callejón Chililico pier, in the Xochimilco mayor's office, Mexico City. Moments after the complaint, uniformed elements of the Ministry of Citizen Security captured the reptile specimen and guarded it. However, the hypotheses of the witnesses were wrong, it was not a crocodile. What kind of reptile was it? Authorities determined that the animal was a Nile monitor lizard, a large semi-aquatic predator from the African continent. Although the species is not native to Xochimilco, the conditions are optimal for this reptile. According to the National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity (CONABIO), the Nile Monitor is an invasive species because it threatens local biological diversity. This is one of the many cases of species introduced by humans to ecosystems where they do not belong. We suggest: The 200 axolotls released in Xochimilco are destined to die, experts agree The Animal Surveillance Brigade rescued the Nile monitor lizard and was able to determine that it had already reached adulthood through the analysis of its scales. They also announced that the specimen is approximately 120 centimeters long. The SSC zootechnical team is carrying out a comprehensive assessment where the well-being of the reptile will be sought. Subsequently, the corresponding authorities will receive him and decide his fate, mentions the government agency in the official statement. Where does this reptile come from? The origin of monitor lizard is unclear. Some hypotheses suggest that he was sheltered in a house and escaped from captivity. The investigation continues but the Animal Surveillance Brigade of the SSC urges the po[CENSORED]tion in its statement to care for and not mistreat living beings at risk that are in Mexico City. https://www.ngenespanol.com/animales/varano-del-nilo-reptil-en-xochimilco/

  8. Indiana’s new sweeping ban on abortion produced immediate political and economic fallout Saturday, as some of the state’s biggest employers objected to the restrictions, Democratic leaders strategized ways to amend or repeal the law, and abortion rights activists made plans to arrange alternative locations for women seeking procedures. The Indiana law, which the Republican-controlled state legislature passed late Friday night and Gov. Eric Holcomb (R) signed moments later, was the first state ban passed since the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade in June and was celebrated as a major victory by abortion foes. It also came just three days after voters in traditionally conservative Kansas surprised the political world by taking a very different tack, rejecting a ballot measure that would have stripped abortion rights protections from that state’s constitution. The vote in Indiana capped weeks of fraught debate in Indianapolis, where activists demonstrated at the state Capitol and waged intense lobbying campaigns as Republican lawmakers debated how far the law should go in restricting abortion. Some abortion foes hailed the law’s passage as a road map for conservatives in other states pushing similar bans in the aftermath of the high court’s decision on Roe, which had guaranteed for the past 50 years the right to abortion care. The Indiana ban, which goes into effect Sept. 15, allows abortion only in cases of rape, incest, lethal fetal abnormality, or when the procedure is necessary to prevent severe health risks or death. Indiana joins nine other states that have abortion bans starting at conception. The new law represents a victory for antiabortion forces, who have been working for decades to halt the procedure. But passage occurred after disagreements among some abortion foes, some of whom thought the bill did not go far enough in stopping the procedure. After the legislation was signed into law, Eli Lilly, the pharmaceutical giant and one of the state’s largest employers, warned that such laws would hurt its employee recruiting efforts and said the company would look elsewhere for its expansion plans. “We are concerned that this law will hinder Lilly’s — and Indiana’s — ability to attract diverse scientific engineering and business talent from around the world,” the company said in a statement issued Saturday. “Given this new law, we will be forced to plan for more employment growth outside our home state.” See where abortion laws have changed Salesforce, the tech giant with 2,300 employees in Indiana, had previously offered to relocate employees in states with abortion restrictions, though it didn’t respond on Saturday to a request for comment on the Indiana law. The Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce also warned the ban was passed too quickly and without regard for how it will affect the state’s tourism industry. “Such an expedited legislative process — rushing to advance state policy on broad, complex issues — is, at best, detrimental to Hoosiers, and at worst, reckless,” the chamber said in a statement, asking: “Will the Indy region continue to attract tourism and convention investments?” Indiana lost out on 12 conventions and an estimated $60 million of business after it passed a religious freedom law in 2015, according to one local tourism industry estimate. Indiana is the first state to ban abortion by legislature since the Supreme Court decision in June overturning Roe v. Wade. Other states enacted “trigger laws” that went into effect with the fall of Roe. Indiana may be just the beginning. Abortion rights advocates estimate that abortion could be severely restricted or banned in as many as half of the 50 states. An official at Indiana Right to Life, an Indiana antiabortion group, said the new law will end 95 percent of abortions in Indiana and will close all Indiana abortion clinics” Sept. 15, the date the legislation takes effect, unless abortion activists go to court and get an injunction beforehand. Indiana has considered abortion restrictions for years, though it remained a state where many in the region traveled for abortion care. Now, as many nearby states — including Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia — also push for abortion bans, patients may have to travel hundreds of miles in some cases for care, said Elizabeth Nash, a policy expert at the Guttmacher Institute, which supports abortion rights. “Patients in Ohio won’t be able to go to Indiana for access. They’ll have to get to, perhaps, Illinois or Michigan,” she said. Passage of the Indiana measure occurred just weeks after national attention was focused on a 10-year-old girl who was raped in Ohio, where abortion is banned after six weeks, and traveled to Indiana to terminate the pregnancy. Caitlin Bernard, the doctor who performed that abortion in Indianapolis, tweeted Saturday that she was “devastated” by the legislature’s action. “How many girls and women will be hurt before they realize this must be reversed? I will continue to fight for them with every fiber of my being,” she wrote. Doctors are reluctant to work in anti-abortion states The Indiana measure drew swift condemnation from national Democrats, who sought to cast Republicans as extreme on abortion — citing the Kansas vote earlier this week, where even rural, conservative parts of the state rejected changing the state’s constitutional right to an abortion. The law is “another radical step by Republican legislators to take away women’s reproductive rights and freedom,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement. Democrats are hopeful, though, that they can use what happened in Indiana to cast the entire Republican Party as extreme on abortion. “This has nothing to do with being ‘pro-life,’ ” tweeted California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D). “It’s about power and control.” In Washington, Republican leaders have been largely silent on Republican-led states’ push to ban abortion. Polls consistently show that near-total abortion bans like the one in Indiana are unpo[CENSORED]r with the general public. So when Indiana Republicans ban abortion for an entire state, “they are effectively speaking for all Republicans,” said Martha McKenna, a Democratic political strategist, “and that’s why I have hope it’s a good issue for Democrats in November.” Another political strategist, Jonathan Levy, who worked on the Kansans For Constitutional Freedom Campaign, which is opposed to limiting abortion rights, said the Kansas vote showed that extreme antiabortion positions are “going to be rejected by Americans across the political spectrum. The American people want legislators to focus on how to keep food on the table, keep the economy afloat. They think the legislature’s priorities are out of whack,” he said. Alongside the near-total abortion ban, Indiana Republicans also passed legislation they said was intended to support pregnant women and mothers, but critics pointed out much of the money was directed at propping up pregnancy crisis centers run by antiabortion groups. The passage of the bill left health providers and abortion counseling agencies struggling to figure out the full impact of the legislation. Indiana University Health, a major health-care provider in the state, issued a statement saying it was trying to figure out what the ban meant for its doctors and patients. “We will take the next few weeks to fully understand the terms of the new law and how to incorporate changes into our medical practice to protect our providers and care for people seeking reproductive health,” the health provider said in a statement. Meantime, activists began discussing plans to raise funds and provide transportation for those seeking abortion access after the ban goes into effect, said Carol McCord, a former employee at Planned Parenthood. “Since this is soon to be illegal in Indiana, we are looking for ways to help women travel to get services that they need,” she said. Indiana law was already considered restrictive compared with other states, so about 35 percent of women seeking abortions traveled out of state already, said Jessica Marchbank who serves as the state programs manager for the All-Options Pregnancy Resource Center in Bloomington. Democratic state legislators began strategizing Saturday about how to respond, including considering repeal measures and organizing voters to elect legislators who favor abortion rights. “This is a dark time for Indiana,” said state Sen. Shelli Yoder, an assistant Democratic caucus chair. “The plan going forward is to be sure we come out in November and vote out the individuals who supported something that only a tiny minority of Hoosiers wanted.” Immediately, Yoder said in an interview that she and like-minded state legislators are contemplating action that could undo the impact of the new law, noting that the legislature has not been formally adjourned. “We can come back and fix this,” she said, adding that legislators are at the early stage of plotting how to do that. Katie Blair, the advocacy and public policy director of the American Civil Liberties Union in Indiana, said Saturday that her organization will examine legal action. “You can guarantee that our legal team will be working with partners to evaluate every legal avenue available to defend abortion access here in Indiana,” Blair said in a statement. In signing the legislation, Holcomb applauded the work of the lawmakers he had called into special session this summer to find a way to restrict abortion, acknowledging disagreements among those opposed to abortion. “These actions followed long days of hearings filled with sobering and personal testimony from citizens and elected representatives on this emotional and complex topic,” the governor said in a statement. “Ultimately, those voices shaped and informed the final contents of the legislation and its carefully negotiated exceptions to address some of the unthinkable circumstances a woman or unborn child might face.” https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/abortion-law-in-indiana-leads-to-fallout-for-state-politics/ar-AA10nJAn?li=BBnb7Kz

  18. Apple iPhone 14 series is expected to debut later this year in September. This lineup is expected to include the iPhone 14, iPhone 14, iPhone Max, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Rumours have been in abundance regarding the specifications and various design aspects of the iPhone 14 series. Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has now shared some of its production details. He claims that some of the iPhone 14 models will now be made in India simultaneously with China. The Cupertino company is seemingly attempting to reduce its dependence on the Chinese supply chain in the wake of the recent geopolitical issues. Kuo mentioned in his tweets that Foxconn's iPhone production site in India will purportedly take on the task of shipping iPhone 14 models simultaneously with the Chinese manufacturers. Apple has been manufacturing iPhone handsets in India for a few years. However, Indian production has been reportedly a quarter or more behind its Chinese counterparts. Production sites in India are expected to manufacture the iPhone 14 models with a 6.1-inch display which are tipped to be the vanilla iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro. The iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max are believed to feature 6.7-inch displays. According to Kuo, the Indian production sites' shipments are expected to lag behind China for the time being. However, it could be an 'important milestone' for Apple to establish a non-China iPhone production site. The Cupertino company could be seeking to reduce the impact of geopolitical issues on its supply chain. In addition, Apple is purportedly targetting the Indian market as the country could be the next key region to boost its growth. In related news, the top execs at Apple have reportedly decided to launch the iPhone 14 at the same price point as its predecessor the iPhone 13. The iPhone 14 could start from $799 (roughly Rs. 64,000). https://gadgets360.com/mobiles/news/iphone-14-6-1-inch-apple-india-production-foxconn-china-3228366#pfrom=topstory
  19. Introduction A pioneer in foldable phones, Huawei is still making two different types - ones that fold in on themselves, and those that have the display wrap around the outside of the body when folded. Another iteration on the second type is what we have for you here - the Mate Xs 2. Showing up a full two years after the previous outie, the Mate Xs 2 comes with several hardware tweaks. A minor decrease in screen size from 8" to 7.8" will have little impact on usability but has to have helped bring weight down to a far more manageable 255g. That display now comes with a 120Hz refresh rate too, one-upping even the inner-folding Mate X2's 90Hz, and a selfie camera (or should we say video call camera) has appeared in the top right corner - the Mate Xs didn't have one at all. Things have changed in the rear camera setup too. A 50MP primary module similar to the P50 Pro's (minus the OIS) replaces the 40MP one on the old model, though the ultrawide's been bumped down to 13MP from the 16MP on the Xs. At the opposite end of the zoom range, the 3x-ish tele holds a notch more zoom power than what you can get on most foldables at the time of writing this. A chipset upgrade is also in place, though it's not cutting-edge silicon you'll find in the Mate Xs. Instead, we see last year's Snapdragon 888 in 4G-only form - the US-China dispute that hit Huawei the most is still taking its toll. That also manifests itself in the Google-less software package, which remains one of the strongest arguments against getting a Huawei phone - though we've heard some people list that as a pro as well. The minor increase in battery capacity (4,500mAh to 4,600mAh) is unlikely to be felt, though it's still nice that it didn't suffer from the weight cuts. Meanwhile, the 66W charging support promises speedy top-ups. Huawei Mate Xs 2 specs at a glance: Body: Unfolded: 156.5x139.3x5.4mm; folded: 156.5x75.5x11.1mm; 255g. Huawei Mate Xs 2 unboxing The Mate Xs 2 arrives in a package befitting its price tag and exclusive status - it's a properly big box by today's standards, made of thick dark gray cardboard and featuring golden lettering. The phone lies open in a tray on top and the accessories are further compartmentalized in separate boxes underneath. This year's case solution offers a bit more protection compared to the Xs' stick-on plastic frame protector, though it does come with its own peculiarities, which we'll discuss on the next page. Still, having a case in the box means that Huawei is not offloading all the responsibility for keeping that exposed foldable screen on you as the end user, which is nice. Also included is a Huawei Super Charge adapter rated for 66W output, though it does have a USB-A out and we tend to frown upon those in 2022. We'd be cautiously speculating it has something to do with charging the two separate batteries in the two halves of the phone, which is more easily done quickly with a proprietary charging tech. But then the previous model did have a USB-C based adapter, so it's not that, and this situation has us a bit perplexed. You do, of course, get a USB-A-to-C cable included. What has gone missing is the pair of wired USB-C earbuds that the 2020 Xs shipped with. That's two downgrades already, though the earbuds in particular won't be missed, we reckon. https://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_mate_xs_2-review-2459.php
  20. Why would you plug in your phone when you could use a wireless CarPlay adapter? iPhone users typically love Apple’s CarPlay system. Of course, it’s easy to see why people love it so much once you’ve tried it. But if you have to plug in your phone in order to use CarPlay in your car, you’re not enjoying the best possible user experience. It’s so much more convenient when it’s wireless! So many automakers out there should be beyond embarrassed at this point. Why? It’s because their infotainment systems are atrocious. I have Apple CarPlay in my car and to be perfectly frank, it makes every built-in car infotainment system I’ve ever tried seem ancient. And I’ve tried them all… even the newer ones like the updated systems from Mercedes and Tesla. If I stop to think about it, there’s really only one problem I have with CarPlay in my car. It’s the fact that my vehicle doesn’t support Apple’s newer wireless CarPlay feature. That means I have to plug in my iPhone with a physical cable to use CarPlay. At least, that was the case until I found the CarlinKit 3.0 wireless CarPlay adapter on Amazon. And right now, all three versions of this awesome gadget are on sale with surprisingly deep discounts. Best wireless CarPlay adapter for any car Being able to have all of your iPhone’s main apps accessible right on your car’s display is so great. CarPlay offers a simple interface and quick access to all the core functionality you might need. On top of that, it supports Siri as well as third-party apps that are must-haves in your car. I cannot tell you how excited I was when Waze first came to CarPlay. Now, I seriously can’t drive anywhere without it. CarPlay even supports a widget view now. This way, you can have an animated map while things like your music player and phone controls are displayed off to the side. But not having wireless CarPlay in my car was definitely a bummer. Connecting a cable to my iPhone certainly isn’t the end of the world. Of course, it’s a whole lot easier to not have to connect a cable. That’s why I was so happy when I found this awesome wireless CarPlay adapter! The name says it all. This is the device you’ve been waiting for if you’re like me and you have a vehicle that doesn’t support wireless CarPlay connections. The CarlinKit 3.0 wireless CarPlay adapter connects to your vehicle through a standard USB-A or USB-C port and acts as a wireless conduit between your car and your iPhone. This way, you can connect to the adapter wirelessly via Bluetooth. Now you won’t have to plug your iPhone into your car every time you get in. As I said, this is the gadget you’ve been waiting for! CarlinKit 3.0 reviews Read through the reviews on Amazon and you’ll see that this wireless adapter works very well for most people. A few people do seem to run into problems, but there are fixes out there for most issues. So many people are quick to complain when all they had to do was actually read the instructions and perform a quick and easy software update. Typical. The bottom line is that the CarlinKit 3.0 wireless CarPlay adapter works very well for most people. And now is the perfect time to give it a shot. There are three different versions including the one above, and they’re all discounted right now. In addition to the 2019-2020 version, there’s one for older cars (2018-2019) and another for newer cars (2021-2022). CarlinKit 3.0 fast facts There’s really no question that this is the best wireless CarPlay adapter I have found in 2022. You don’t have to deal with a complex installation and it’s so easy to use. This model is also much more reliable than any comparable products I’ve come across. If you want to transform the Apple CarPlay in your car and make it wireless, this is the best way to do it. Here are some key takeaways that you should keep in mind if you’re considering the CarlinKit 3.0: The Carlinkit 3.0 Wireless CarPlay Adapter converts any car with wired CarPlay so that it supports wireless CarPlay Works with Audi, Porsche, Volvo, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Honda, Peugeot, Chevrolet, Ford SYNC 3.4, Mazda, and more Your car must have a factory-wired CarPlay system in order to work with this wireless CarPlay adapter No more plugging your phone into your car with a Lightning USB cable Play music, listen to podcasts, navigate with your favorite mapping app, and more — all through CarPlay with now cable needed Compatible with every iPhone model from iPhone 5 and newer as long as it’s running iOS 7.1 or later Initial connection from your iPhone to the Carlinkit 3.0 Wireless CarPlay Adapter takes between 7 and 14 seconds depending on your car and iPhone model Comes with a one-year warranty in addition to lifetime technical support Add Apple CarPlay to any car, no installation required The CarlinKit 3.0 is a fantastic wireless CarPlay adapter. But what about cars that don’t have Apple CarPlay, to begin with? If you have a Tesla, you can hack CarPlay onto your car as long as you’re the daring type. But there’s another solution that’s so much easier. As a matter of fact, it’s so easy that it doesn’t even require you to install anything. It’s called the Car and Driver INTELLIDASH Plus, and it adds CarPlay to any car in seconds. Just pop it on your dashboard somewhere, plug it into power, and you’re done! Of note, both models go on sale from time to time so you might be able to scoop one up at a discount. I recently told you about this awesome gadget in our coverage about how to add CarPlay to any car without installing anything. The INTELLIDASH Plus is a CarPlay device that has its own screen. You simply connect it to the power in your car, stick it on your dashboard, and you’re done! Definitely check it out if you want to add Apple CarPlay to any car that doesn’t already support it. https://bgr.com/deals/wireless-carplay-adapter-amazon/
  21. The Japanese police no longer know what to do with the macaques in Yamaguchi, a town in the south of the country. The attacks are becoming more violent. The situation is delicate. In kindergartens, in public spaces—even in homes, the people of Yamaguchi face troops of violent macaques who, seeking to reclaim their territory, mess with human beings. Some of the attacks are frontal: local police reports indicate that primates intimidate babies with screams. Other people have expressed concern about the looks they feel on their shoulders when walking down the street. Most likely, it is the Japanese monkeys that, watching them from the tiles on the houses or the trees, wait for the perfect moment to launch their attack. This is the reason. We suggest: The story of Yakei, the first female alpha macaque in Japan A rocky recovery The problem Yamaguchi faces with the growing po[CENSORED]tion of macaques is not new. On the contrary, according to the BBC, it has been a recurring situation for decades. The increasingly virulent growth of the species occurred, in an unusual way, after the extermination that these primates experienced during the 19th century. Due to the excessive felling of Japanese forests -which are the only habitat for macaques in the country-, the 'snow monkeys' were left without shelter. The reduction of its ecosystem was added to the excessive hunting that Japan allowed at that time. Homeless, and threatened by the pressure of human activity, the species was pushed to extinction until the middle of the 20th century. IT WAS NOT UNTIL THE SECOND WORLD WAR CAME TO AN END THAT THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT PROHIBITED THE HUNT OF THE SPECIES IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY, EXPLAINS LIVE SCIENCE. WITH THE INSTRUCTION OF PRESERVING A NATIVE SPECIES OF THE JAPANESE FORESTS, THEIR HABITAT WAS RESTORED AND THE MACAQUES BEGAN TO PO[CENSORED]TE THE TERRITORY FROM WHICH THEY WERE DISPOSSESSED. More than half a century after this resolution was made, in pursuit of reestablishing the po[CENSORED]tions in the country, the macaques took the city of Yamaguchi as their own. It is not the only one: in other towns in Japan, people are afraid to go outside without an umbrella, to protect themselves from the violent attacks they receive from snow monkeys. Invasion, or recovery of the territory? A team of scientists describes for Mammal Study as "a problem of modern Japan" the closeness situation with the snow monkeys. In contrast, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) lists the species as one of least concern on its Red List for threatened animals. That's how vigorous his recovery has been. At the same time, the local police had to shoot down one of the most problematic specimens recently. After entering a kindergarten and attacking students on several occasions, the State decided to end the life of the animal. The problem, however, does not end there. Some media consider that the situation in Yamaguchi is an invasion of macaques. Rather, Japan's natural history suggests that they are reclaiming territory that has been theirs for thousands of years. Perhaps those who invaded space were human po[CENSORED]tions. Meanwhile, the human po[CENSORED]tion in Yamaguchi has to take precautions when going outside: lest, if luck is not on their side, they receive a macaque bite on the back. https://www.ngenespanol.com/animales/el-ataque-de-cientos-de-macacos-en-yamaguchi-preocupa-a-la-policia-japonesa/
