Hogwarts Legacy will arrive on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X at the end of 2022. Hogwarts Legacy — the upcoming open world role-playing game set at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, a century before the Harry Potter years — is set to launch at the end of the year. The launch details of the upcoming game were shared during a PlayStation State of Play livestream event held on March 18. Hogwarts Legacy is set in the wizarding world a century before the events of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter franchise, and will arrive on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X later this year. During the PlayStation State of Play event that was streamed on March 17 at 2pm PT (3:30am IST on March 18), developers Avalanche Software gave gamers a peek at what they could expect from Hogwarts Legacy, including the introduction to the game and its many elements, from the story to character creation. Last year, it was revealed that Hogwarts Legacy would allow transgender characters in the game. Players are introduced to different settings and abilities from the game, including various locations at Hogwarts like dungeons and the kitchens, magical creatures, traveling on a broomstick, as well as new characters — such as the villainous dwarf Ranrok, the powerful Professor Figg, and others. The developers showed off the character creation aspect of the game, as well as other parts of the game that will affect gameplay. These include getting sorted into houses, the ability to learn new skills and upgrade them (Talent Points), brewing handy potions, and growing magical plants. Gamers will have access to various classes at Hogwarts, where they will join as a fifth-year student. The game will also feature the familiar village of Hogsmeade, where gamers can purchase ingredients, gear, and more. Learning skills at Hogwarts will help a player investigate rumours of a mounting goblin rebellion that threatens to affect the safety of the school. Gameplay also shows sinister creatures corrupted by magic, goblins, and dark wizards. The goblins are revealed to have allied themselves with dark wizards, but the gameplay trailer does not reveal much more. Meanwhile, the trailer goes on to show various spells such as blasting curses, stunning spells, shield charms, and enchanted weaponry. Combat will have to be adapted to different enemies' weaknesses in order to be effective. During the livestream, gamers were also shown the controls that could be used in the game, which was recorded on a PlayStation 5. The trailer shows off the ability to befriend different characters in the game, including students who have their stories and their own characteristics. The game will also feature the iconic Room of Requirement that will allow gamers to brew potions, sow and harvest plants, and upgrade gear as they catch up to their classmates. The game will also feature dynamic weather that was shown off during the trailer. The game will be released during the holiday season later this year. The po[CENSORED]r game was first announced in September 2020 and scheduled to release in 2021, but was delayed to 2022. Hogwarts Legacy is not associated with J.K. Rowling, the author of the titular Harry Potter series, who made several comments in 2020 viewed as transphobic, and criticised by many, including Harry Potter film stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. https://gadgets360.com/games/news/hogwarts-legacy-release-date-2022-features-gameplay-spells-harry-potter-game-rowling-2831529

New Microsoft Outlook tool will identify messages that violate accessibility standards Microsoft is preparing to roll out a new feature for email service Outlook that will give users a chance to assess the suitability of their messages before sending. As explained in a new entry to the company’s product roadmap, Outlook users will soon gain access to an upgraded version of the MailTips help service. Available from July onwards, the new-look tool will notify people if their emails do not live up to accessibility standards. “Users will see a MailTip in Outlook recommending to fix accessibility issues before sending email messages to large [groups], external users, or for any messages marked as ‘high importance’. The MailTip will show up at the top of the email compose window,” explained Microsoft. Outlook accessibility With a larger proportion of collaboration taking place over email and cloud-based office software since the start of the pandemic, the need for workers to ensure their communications meet accessibility standards has only become more acute. However, it’s not always easy to remember to perform accessibility checks in the heat of a busy working day. And in some instances, it may be unclear precisely what can be done to make an email more accessible. The upcoming update for MailTips in Outlook should help address both of these problems. “By creating and sending accessible emails, you ensure that recipients can access, read and use the information they contain,” said Microsoft, in a separate explainer. “We are expanding the functionality [of MailTips] to automatically prompt you when an accessibility violation is detected while composing an email to large audiences or external users, for example, and help you fix the issue.” There are a number of ways to configure the new feature, which can be switched on permanently, activated only in certain scenarios (e.g. when a recipient has registered specific accessibility needs), or turned off until a manual accessibility check is performed. The Outlook announcement follows on from a separate update for Microsoft Office, which serves a related purpose. As detailed in a blog post from January, Microsoft 365 customers can now use a new Accessibility Reminder add-on for Word, Excel and PowerPoint to notify colleagues of any additional needs they may have. The idea was to create a non-confrontational way for someone to remind co-workers of their accessibility needs that didn’t involve sending out a dedicated email or instant message. https://www.techradar.com/news/microsoft-outlook-will-alert-you-if-your-emails-arent-up-to-standard

Mac Studio packs massive M1 Ultra and uses modular SSDs that is user-accessible. The Mac Studio features a minimalistic design that looks pretty humble compared to modern workstations like other Apple devices. But what these design hides are Apple's massive M1 Ultra processor package that occupies around one-fourth of the motherboard, a very complex voltage regulating module (VRM), and two user-accessible SSDs. Now that Apple is shipping Mac Studio systems to the end-user, some of the latter dissect these PCs to find out their internal design and architecture. Indeed, there is a lot to look at with the Mac Studio. Apple's Mac Studio is a masterpiece of high-precision engineering that comprises hundreds of components installed on a relatively small printed circuit board, as revealed by the Max Tech YouTube channel, which was the first to teardown a Mac Studio. Apple M1 Ultra: Three Times Bigger than Ryzen Apple's M1 Ultra processor is two M1 Max system-on-chips (SoCs) in TSMC's CoWoS-S (chip-on-wafer-on-substrate with silicon interposer) 2.5D interposer-based package. The two SoCs feature memory subsystems. They are linked together using the company's UltraFusion interprocessor interconnection that offers a bandwidth of 2.5 TB/s, enough to present two GPUs and two memory subsystems as one to the OS. We expected Apple's M1 Ultra to be massive given such an architecture. Indeed, the M1 Ultra is massive. Compared to an AMD Ryzen processor in an AM4 form-factor, it is about three times larger. One M1 Ultra occupies around 25% of Mac Studio's motherboard. Since we are two M1 Maxes, the M1 Ultra has two rather complex VRMs that can feed the two-headed beast and ensure high-quality power to let it run at high clocks. It, of course, means that we are dealing with a very complex motherboard, but if you need to maximize performance, this is the way to go. Since the M1 Ultra consumes quite a lot of power and generates quite a lot of heat, it is not surprising that it needs a very advanced dual-fan cooling system. The cooling system takes away heat from the top of the processor and its bottom, which gives a pretty good idea about the heat generated by the unit. But while the M1 Ultra looks large for Apple users, there is an even bigger thing inside the new Mac Studio. Upgradeable Storage The vast majority of Apple's PCs released in recent years are known for being utterly non-upgradeable by the end-user, so the end-user did not need to disassemble them. Furthermore, none of the M1-based systems released allows for an upgrade as they feature soldered-down memory and solid-state drives (SSDs). But with Mac Studio, the company decided that change the design bit and use modular SSDs instead of a soldered-down drive. Potentially, this opens doors to upgradeability unless, of course, there are software limitations. It is not very hard to open up Apple's Mac Studio: you need to remove the rubber ring from the bottom, unbolt the screws, and detach the base. Once you remove the base, you immediately notice the bottom of the power supply and one or two modular SSDs installed into their slots (if only one is filled, you see a spare SSD slot). The drives use a proprietary form-factor, which is logical as the SSD controller resides in the SoC, and the drives themselves do not need to carry one. The critical thing is that both SSD slots are accessible without removing the PSU. Officially, Apple claims that the drives are not user upgradeable, so accessing them probably voids the warranty (at least for now), but Apple could enable its authorized partners to offer SSD upgrade services. Or lift the limitation altogether, let hardware suppliers like OWC produce SSDs in an appropriate form factor. Apple has consistently argued that soldering down NAND chips allows it to make its systems more portable. Still, this argument does not stand because there are more compact systems that use regular modular M.2 drives. Meanwhile, SSD modules allow PC makers to be more flexible with configurations. Mac Studio, for example, is offered with 512GB (M1 Max only) 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB storage options as well as with 32GB/64GB (M1 Max) or 64GB/128GB (M1 Ultra) of memory. Since Mac Studio uses SSD modules, Apple needs to make four motherboards. It would have to produce 10 M1 Max and eight M1 Ultra mainboards with soldered-down storage. Apple's new SSD modules look pretty small, so perhaps eventually, Apple could use them for other systems too?

The first gameplay trailer also shows off some potentially more complex stealth gameplay. After a long drought, there's been rush of Vampire: the Masquerade videogames in recent years like the multiplayer battle royale Bloodhunt, the ongoing text adventure series by Choice of Games, and the alarmingly fraught development of Bloodlines 2 all in the shadow of Troika's cult classic, Vampire: the Masquerade – Bloodlines. Vampire: the Masquerade – Swansong, meanwhile, is a promising-looking entry in the VtM canon developed by Big Bad Wolf, creators off the episodic narrative murder mystery, The Council. Swansong is a take on the World of Darkness more reminiscent of Telltale games like The Walking Dead or The Wolf Among Us than classic RPGs, and Big Bad Wolf recently released a first gameplay trailer showing off the project. Players take control of one of three vampires tasked with investigating a threat to the Boston branch of underground vampire society, the Camarilla. It appears that each of these vampires' stories weave in and out of the others' to form a cohesive narrative, as opposed to say, selecting one from the beginning and seeing the story all the way through. Of the playable characters, Galeb is a member of the blue-blooded Ventrue clan, and seems to have more direct or violent solutions to encounters than the other two. Leysha's deception-based powers and hallucinations she experiences in her story trailer all but confirm she's a member of the fan-favorite clan Malkavian, a bloodline of mad prophets. Nightclub-owner Emem, meanwhile, seems to be a Toreador, with enhanced powers of persuasion and seduction. In addition to multiple-choice dialogue and timed cutscene reactions a la Telltale games, Swansong's first gameplay trailer also showed off character skill trees, as well as mechanics for drinking human blood and hiding the bodies, hinting at deeper gameplay possibilities outside of the cutscenes. https://www.pcgamer.com/vampire-the-masquerade-swansong-promises-a-telltale-style-take-on-the-world-of-darkness/

Amanda Holden is 51 years old and she still looks absolutely stunning in every photo. The Heart radio presenter, Britain's Got Talent judge, singer and actress somehow is still in incredible shape and loved to get glammed up. MyLondon unearthed a photo of Amanda from 1995 and it's baffling how little she has changed in 27 years. The photo dates back to when Amanda was just 24-years-old. In the snap, she wears a black leather top and gazes at the camera while her short red-tinted hair blows in the wind. She looks as stunning then as she does now. At the time she was at the beginning of her acting career, having only appeared as a contestant on Blind Date, starred In Suspicious Circumstances and had a brief cameo on EastEnders. She married comedian Les Dennis in June that year after meeting him in 1993. He was 42 years old at the time. Speaking about their relationship she has said: "We had both been through a lot and met at a time that was perfect for both of us." Amanda went on to establish herself on screen and stage with Kiss Me Kate, The Grimleys, Hearts and Bones, and more. She joined Britain's Got Talent as a judge in 2006 and hasn't looked back. In 2020 released her own album - Songs From My Heart. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/lifestyle/style/incredible-unearthed-photo-of-amanda-holden-proves-she-has-barely-aged-in-27-years/ar-AAVf0zx

Covid cases have continued to rise in the UK, with an estimated one in every 20 people infected, figures from the Office for National Statistic suggest. All age groups are affected, including the 75s and over, who are due a spring booster jab to top up protection. Hospital cases are also rising, but vaccines are still helping to stop many severe cases, say experts. An easily spread sub-variant of Omicron, called BA.2, is now causing most cases. Recent easing of restrictions and waning immunity from the vaccines could be factors behind the rise too. What is the BA.2 variant? Extra Covid booster vaccine in spring How many cases are there in my area? The ONS infection survey, which tests thousands of people randomly in households across the UK, estimates that 3.3 million people would have tested positive in the week ending 12 March - up from 2.6 million the previous week. Record high Scotland has seen infection levels rise for seven weeks in a row. They have now reached a new record high, with 376,300 people estimated to have had Covid last week, or one in 14. Infection rates across the nations were: England: 4.9%, up from 3.8% last week - approximately one in 25 people Wales: 4.1%, up from 3.2% last week - approximately one in 25 people Northern Ireland: 7.1% , down from 7.8% last week - approximately one in 14 people Scotland: 7.15% up from 5.7% last week - approximately one in 14 people It comes as the UK continues to lift previous Covid restrictions. As of Friday, people arriving in the UK will no longer need to take a Covid test, even if they haven't been vaccinated. It is part of the government's Living with Covid strategy that relies on personal responsibility and mass vaccination to protect the public, rather than laws and limits on what people are allowed to do. Scotland's rules on face coverings in shops and on public transport will, however, remain in place until April due to the rise in Covid. Sarah Crofts, head of analytical outputs for the Covid-19 Infection Survey, said Scotland was showing the highest level of infections yet. "It's notable also that infections have risen in all age groups, with the over-70s reaching their highest estimate since our survey began," she added. https://www.bbc.com/news/health-60792087

OnePlus 10R was earlier tipped to launch in China and India in Q2 2022 OnePlus 10R India launch could be very close as the phone has entered private testing in the country, according to the latest reports. A report from January had tipped that OnePlus 10R is set to launch in China and India in Q2 2022 and will sport a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC under the hood. The smartphone is set to follow the company's OnePlus 10 Pro smartphone that was launched in China and is teased to arrive in India and other markets this month. The information about OnePlus 10R entering private testing in India was reported by 91Mobiles citing industry sources. The Chinese company is aiming to bring the OnePlus 10 Pro to India later this month, following which the OnePlus 10R is expected to go official. The OnePlus 10R has been codenamed ‘pickle'. The phone has not launched anywhere yet, leaving us with very few details surrounding the handset. OnePlus 10R specifications (expected) According to a previous report, OnePlus 10R will sport a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC paired with at least 8GB of RAM and 128GB of inbuilt storage. As mentioned earlier, OnePlus 10R is tipped to launch in the second quarter of 2022. The phone is said to sport an AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. It will reportedly be limited to Asian markets like other OnePlus R-series smartphones such as OnePlus 9R and OnePlus 9RT. An alleged design leak of the OnePlus 10R had surfaced via a Weibo post earlier this month. The image leak showed the complete back design of the smartphone, giving us a first glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming handset. The image suggested a rectangular-shaped camera island with bump at the top of the rear panel, consisting of a large primary camera sensor along with an LED flash. The details about secondary camera sensors are not clear yet. The phone is shown to have a curved design with rounded edges. A OnePlus logo can be seen in the middle of the back panel. https://gadgets360.com/mobiles/news/oneplus-10r-india-launch-q2-2022-expected-private-testing-specifications-mediatek-dimensity-9000-soc-2830318

Add context to your stored passwords with notes The built-in password manager in Google Chrome is about to get even better as Google is preparing to add the ability to store notes alongside your passwords. Besides storing your existing passwords, Chrome’s password manager also includes a password generator to help you create strong, unique and complex passwords for each of your online accounts. While you can use a standalone password manager like LastPass or 1Password to store your passwords securely, Google Chrome and most other browsers now offer similar functionality. However, these paid solutions often come with extra features like secure cloud storage and password sharing in addition to letting you store notes about each of your passwords. Now though, it appears that Chrome’s built-in password manager will be getting a big upgrade with the next major release of Google’s browser. Adding notes to your passwords in Chrome As reported by 9to5Google and first spotted by Leo Varela, the latest Chrome Canary release adds a new feature to Chrome’s built-in password manager that will allow you to store notes with your passwords. Once this feature becomes generally available, you’ll see a new “Notes” field underneath the username and password fields in Chrome’s password manager. However, this option will only show up when adding a new password or when you go to edit an existing password. Varela also pointed out in his Reddit post that Google is working on adding the ability to securely send passwords to others as well. Being able to add notes to each of your saved passwords can be quite useful for those with a lot of different online accounts. For instance, you can add a note to give context to the account, to differentiate between a work and personal account or even if you want to back up the answers to the security questions associated with a particular account. Users running Chrome Canary can test out this feature now and Google has even added the #passwords-notes flag to make it easier to enable. As this feature is currently tied to the release of Chrome 101, it should arrive in the Stable channel around April or May but the timing of its arrival could change. https://www.techradar.com/news/google-chrome-password-manager-is-finally-adding-this-must-have-feature

Coming to a PlayStation 5 near you. When Sony's Nextorage subsidiary announced its NEM-PA SSDs for PlayStation 5 console last September, it generated much interest from the console crowd as this was essentially a first-party upgrade. Surprisingly, Nextorage decided not to sell its NEM-PA drives in the U.S. last year. However, the company changed its mind and said recently that NEM-PA SSDs for PlayStation 5 consoles would arrive in the U.S. at Amazon.com starting this month. Typically, first-party upgrades offer mediocre performance, but this is certainly not the case with the Nextorage NEM-PA SSDs that are rated for up 7,300 MB/s sequential read speed, up to 6,900 MB/s sequential write speed, and up to 1 million random read/write IOPS. From a performance point of view, we are dealing with one of the best SSDs available today. The SSDs are based on an unknown NVMe 1.4-compliant controller featuring eight 1200 MT/s NAND channels, a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface, an advanced LDPC-based error correction algorithm, SLC caching, and other modern capabilities. Capacity and endurance-wise, the NEM-PA family includes two drives featuring 1TB and 2TB capacities. They are rated for 700 terabytes written (TBW) and 1400 TBW over a five-year period, which equals around 0.38 drive writes per day (DWPD) and represents a fairly good endurance. All Nextorage NEM-PA SSDs come with a compact aluminum heat spreader to ensure consistent performance under high loads. It is somewhat surprising that Nextorage didn't announce MSRPs of its NEM-PA drives for PlayStation 5. However, keeping in mind that there are plenty of PS5-compatible SSDs on the market, we would not expect Nextorage to charge a huge premium for its drives due to healthy competition. Nevertheless, it will still be interesting to see how much the company wants for these products. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/sony-nextorage-launches-ps5-ssds-in-the-usa

The MMO will see three new expeditions, a new zone, and two new weapons this year. Amazon Game Studios has released a developer roundtable video alongside a 2022 roadmap for its colonial fantasy MMO, New World. New World's Heart of Madness update coming later this month will bring the Strength/Intelligence-scaling Blunderbuss weapon, as well as the Tempest Heart expedition, 3v3 PvP arenas, and expanded PvP rewards. The video mostly covers the Heart of Madness update, with a special focus on the expedition's focus on the character Isabella, previously encountered in the Dynasty Shipyard Expedition. The video was lighter on detail regarding the PvP changes, and we will have to see how those pan out in the game itself. Summer will see another new expedition, the pirate-themed Barnacles and Black Powder, alongside the introduction of an LFG tool for Expeditions and an as-of-yet undisclosed Summer event. The biggest additions are coming in Autumn, around New World's one-year anniversary. The world map will be expanded with the Brimstone Sands region, and players will have access to another new weapon with its own moveset and ability trees: the Greatsword. The Autumn update will also add another new Expedition, the Ennead, as well as leaderboards and two events: Nightvale Hallow and Turkulon 2022. These all seem like welcome additions to New World, but they don't strike me as likely to address the underlying issues identified by PC Gamer's resident New World expert, Fraser Brown, in his review and 2022 state of the game piece like declining server po[CENSORED]tions and instability in the in-game economy. Some po[CENSORED]r posts on the game's subreddit continue to call for more server mergers to maximize the game's contracted player base. Additionally, the focus on PvE Expeditions in the 2022 updates does not seem to be playing into New World's strengths in its PvP or the player-driven economy that, while flawed, remains a unique draw. Following an impressive launch (the biggest in terms of concurrent players for a game on Steam in 2021) and equally massive decline in player count, New World may still be struggling to find the rhythm that some long-running mid-tier MMOs like Guild Wars 2 or Star Wars: the Old Republic have managed to hit. https://www.pcgamer.com/new-world-2022-roadmap-revealed/

Same app, different name, monthly sub Microsoft released a new preview build of Windows 11 on March 9, where it announced a surprise new app called ClipChamp. This allows you to create videos, edit video clips, and gives you access to plenty of stock photos and videos that you can use for your projects, but you need to pay a monthly subscription in order to use these features. ClipChamp is rolling out to users who are on Windows Insider build 22572 and above. If you've not signed up to be a Windows Insider to help test early versions of Windows 11, this app should appear later this year in the upcoming 'Sun Valley 2' update. It looks as though Microsoft is looking through its back catalog of apps, such as Paint and Windows Media Player, and seeing what could work in 2022. In some ways, ClipChamp is the return of the iconic Movie Maker, and looks to appease casual users who just want to edit clips on the fly, or make their home movies look a little more professional, as long as you pay a monthly fee that is. Analysis: What's old is new again, almost Microsoft has been both reviving its apps for Windows 11, and refreshing others that have not been updated in years, such as Paint and Snipping Tool. Movie Maker was a useful tool back in the days of Windows XP in 2001, where you could place random transitions and effects over your photos and videos, then share it through MSN Messenger. It launched with Windows Me in 2000, a short-lived upgrade to Windows 98, and was supported until 2014, but Movie Maker hadn't seen any major new features since 2007. With the increase of other apps and websites that could edit video, alongside being able to do the same features on social media apps on your smartphones, Movie Maker faded into irrelevance. However, nostalgia is powerful thing, and many of us fondly remember the apps that we used to have as part of our childhoods, and for some, Movie Maker is a big part of this. There are most likely users out there who have videography careers in 2022 thanks to Movie Maker introducing them to video editing when they were younger. ClipChamp looks to do the same for users in Windows 11, with a modern design that is reminiscent of Movie Maker, all while bringing modern features. THE SITE
