Whenever we enthusiasts talk about special cars, we seem to concentrate first on what it is and what it costs. Only after we’ve found and financed the car of our dreams do we come to the biggest question of all: what on earth made us buy this machine in the first place? Naked, long-held desire is the major driver, of course, but where does that come from? For the dozen or so people who run Bell Sport & Classic – a kind of outer-London nirvana for buyers and lovers of the world’s greatest cars – the answer has always been obvious. People buy special cars for the life experiences they provide: great driving, supremely enjoyable travel to destinations that suit cars of this type, plus the chance to mix with like-minded people who have such cars of their own. Perhaps, further into ownership, there will also be a chance to improve a car and upgrade it: only a very few odd souls buy a Ferrari to deny it the light of day. Perhaps, further into ownership, there will also be a chance to improve a car and upgrade it: only a very few odd souls buy a Ferrari to deny it the light of day. Bell S&C is strategically located in rural Hertfordshire, in purpose-built premises opened in 2017 to cater for the progressive expansion of a business that started with lower-end classic cars in 1989. The new HQ at Markyate sits in a kind of green haven between Luton and Dunstable on the northern side, and Hemel Hempstead and St Albans to the south. Junction 10 of the M1 motorway is nearby, although you wouldn’t know it, especially when the large gates to Bell’s estate close behind you and its green lawns beckon as an ideal place to park whatever you’ve brought. Of course, this is first and foremost a car dealership. It’s mostly a supercar emporium these days, although you can also buy the likes of a Triumph TR4A or an ex-Academy Caterham Seven. And if you were to go there at present, you’d probably get to park beside a huge, £250k Lamborghini LM002 off-roader that’s just been restored on the premises (“it arrived in boxes”). You don’t do that kind of thing every day. Developing this place as a welcoming destination for a lot of car talk and a good look around has become a labour of love for the people who run it: this is one of the few businesses you’ll encounter whose website prominently displays these remarkable words: “Drop in whenever you want.” Most Bell people are greatly experienced from previous careers in the business and their mission is to use the knowledge and contacts to make the customer experience better than anything they knew in the past. It’s quite a goal. They like running events, too. Breakfast and coffee drop-ins are a speciality and a recent series of drive-in movies attracted hundreds. More are planned. “We usually find visitors stay longer than they expected to,” says Bell’s managing director and kingpin, Tim Kearns, who took charge a couple of years ago. “Visitors pop in and can often still be here five hours later, but that’s how we like it. We do get the odd ‘where are you?’ call from disgruntled other-halves but that’s a hazard of the job.” Kearns has had more than 30 years in the fast car business, first achieving prominence in the HR Owen South Kensington Ferrari dealership (at which, back in the noughties, he handed over Autocar’s fondly remembered F430 long-termer). He subsequently rose to boardroom level and assumed responsibility for Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce sales across the group – until a new owner brought fresh ideas and new faces. After that, he orchestrated a big-scale dealer launch in Bristol and toyed for a while with opening his own Ferrari dealership before being headhunted to give Bell S&C a new lease of life. Bell takes its name from engineer and entrepreneur Peter Bell, who back in the 1960s used his £5000 redundancy money from a printing job to establish himself in the automotive parts business. He first launched the stick-on rear window demister (remember those?), then came up with a better design for a stable, leakproof petrol can, first in metal and later in the plastic that made his fortune. He did so well that he was able to sell the business to a bigger parts player and start Bell Sport & Classic, which traded first in MGs and Healeys but then moved more upmarket. Nowadays, as the website succinctly puts it, “we sell the cars we’d love to own”. Kearns is slightly surprised at how much he’s enjoying running a non-franchise car business. Agility is one major advantage over the majors, he says. “The staff of the big gin palaces have very little time to improve their ambience or spend much time with customers,” he says. “Process is the enemy. It gets in the way at every turn because there’s way too much of it. We just don’t have that problem.” Bell’s compactness doesn’t prevent it from completing complex work to an extremely high standard, though. Kearns nowadays presides over a business that can faithfully maintain or repair any of the cars it sells, and it frequently completes big-note restorations to standards he believes match or exceed those of Ferrari’s Classiche dealers. Kearns proudly shows detailed pictorial records of its best work (“we’re sticklers for authenticity; when you restore a car, you’re responsible for recapturing its original personality”). Its small but talented artisan staff, led by the experienced Attilio Romano, especially welcome projects like the big Lambo that require “talent, patience and desire”. A secret 1960s Ferrari project, biggest of the lot so far, will soon be revealed. Meanwhile, the craftspeople themselves are every bit as well known to customers as the front-office staff.

Armenia and Azerbaijan have accused each other of violating a humanitarian ceasefire in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. Both sides agreed had agreed a truce to start at midnight local time (20:00 GMT Saturday). But an Armenian defence ministry spokeswoman said Azerbaijan broke the ceasefire after just four minutes by firing artillery shells and rockets. Azerbaijan later said Armenia had broken the truce after two minutes. Both countries signed a Russian-brokered ceasefire last Saturday. However, clashes continued despite that accord. Fighting flared last month over the territory, which is internationally recognised as part of Azerbaijan but run by ethnic Armenians. Hundreds have died. This is the worst violence in the region since a six-year war over the territory ended with a ceasefire in 1994. What are Armenia and Azerbaijan fighting over? Karabakh war leaves civilians shell-shocked and bitter Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in pictures Earlier on Saturday, both nations continued to trade accusations over violations of the Russian-brokered truce agreed last weekend and doubts are likely to remain following the latest statements. What is the latest agreement? Both nations confirmed the humanitarian truce, although few other details were given. Azerbaijan's foreign ministry said the decision was based on statements by the presidents of the US, France and Russia, representing the OSCE Minsk Group - a body set up in 1992 and chaired by the three countries to mediate the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Anna Naghdalyan, spokesperson for Armenia's foreign ministry carried the same statement in a tweet, adding it welcomed efforts towards a "ceasefire and de-escalation of tension" in the conflict zone. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who negotiated last weekend's accord, spoke to counterparts in both countries on Saturday and said they needed to "strictly follow" the earlier agreement. French President Emmanuel Macron agreed, saying his country would pay "close attention" to the ceasefire. What's the latest on the ground? "The enemy fired artillery shells in the northern direction from 00:04 to 02:45, (20:04 to 22:45 GMT Saturday) and fired rockets in the southern direction from 02:20 to 02:45," Armenian defence ministry spokeswoman Shushan Stepanyan said on Twitter. She later said that Azerbaijan launched an assault in the south of Nagorno-Karabakh on Sunday morning. "There are casualties and wounded on both sides." A statement from Armenia's foreign ministry on Sunday said it was the second time Azerbaijan had broken a ceasefire, and said Armenia would take all "necessary measures" to bring about a ceasefire and ways of enforcing it "on the ground". However, Azerbaijan has accused Armenia of breaking the truce and launching attacks on Sunday. "The armed forces of Armenia immediately after the declared ceasefire, starting from 00:02 local time fired at Jabrayil city," a foreign ministry statement said. "Azerbaijan remains committed to the humanitarian ceasefire, however, Azerbaijan reserves its right to take counter measures to protect its civilians and positions."

While all the limelight is currently on the newly-launched HomePod Mini, owners of the original, larger HomePod are in for a surprise as well. If you’ve already bought the bigger device, a software update - likely in the coming weeks - will enable it to function as a surround speaker - including 5.1, 7.1 or even Dolby Atmos surround. It’ll work if you’ve only got a single speaker, but placing one either side of your TV will enable the full ‘spatial sound’ experience that you get from Atmos, where it places you as an object in the soundscape and fires the noise all around. The best HomePod deals and prices This can be used in an almost infinite number of speakers to create that truly surrounding sound, but the HomePod is able to simulate this - just how well, though, is something we’ll have to test - thanks to its array of drivers arranged around the edge of the device. These are beam-forming drives, which means they’re able to sense their environment and tailor the audio accordingly - meaning it can separate out elements of sound to create that immersive experience. Two become one If you’ve forked out for two HomePod smart speakers over the years, placing them either side of the TV will give you a wider sound, with the pair able to connect together and partner to fill your room with Atmos-based audio. Given Apple has been offering its iTunes movies upscaled to Atmos and 4K HDR for free in recent times, it’s likely you’ll already have content able to take advantage of this feat - and if not, you can still use nearly all streaming services to get the more basic surround sound effect. It’s interesting that the new HomePod Mini is able connect with another Mini unit to act as a stereo speaker, but not able to do surround sound or connect as part of a 5.1 system as a satellite speaker. Apple hasn’t confirmed when the software to enable the HomePod to act as a virtual soundbar will be deployed, but we expect it to appear in the relatively near future. It’s also unclear why it’s taken so long to enable this feature, given the HomePod launched with the beam-forming drivers and Apple has long had a suite of Dolby Atmos content available - however, like with the AirPods Pro of late, it has been busy enabling spatial audio on a number of its devices, so this is likely another step along that path.

The newly updated Hyper 212 looks to tug at the heartstrings of many system builders from over a decade, who may recall countless tech sites spouting consistent praise and community recommendations for the original Hyper 212 product line as a budget air-cooling option. Much like its earlier predecessors, the new Hyper 212 Evo v2 aims for the sweet spot of budget performance potential, with the latest version finding itself amidst a large selection of competitive alternatives. Height 6.25" / 158.8mm Width 4.75" Depth 2.0" / 50.1mm, (3.25" / 82.6mm w/fan) Base Height 1.38" / 35.1mm Assy. Offset 0.5" / 12.7mm (rear), (0.5" /12/7mm forward w/fan) Cooling Fans (1) 120 x 25mm Connectors (1) 4-pin PWM Weight 23.4 oz / 662g Intel Sockets 775, 115x, 1366, 2011x, 2066, 1200 AMD Sockets FM2(+), FM1, AM2(+), AM3(+), AM4 Warranty 2 years Web Price $40 The Hyper 212 Evo v2 does away with the swing-arm flex mount bracket and makes use of a fixed torsion bar, which greatly simplifies mounting and installation of the cooler. Cooler Master provides hardware to support most Intel and AMD CPU sockets, although Threadripper is not among them. A set of additional fan mounting hardware is included for users seeking to add an additional fan to the Hyper 212 Evo v2 for push/pull airflow, a PWM splitter for dual fan operation and a syringe of thermal compound round out the boxed accessories. Cooler Master covers the Hyper 212 Evo v2 with a 2 year product warranty. Cooler Master provides an updated SickleFlow 120 fan rated to 1800 RPM for use on the new 212 Evo v2, which ships with mounting clips pre-installed. The face of the fan hub is adorned with a holographic logo.,However, the cooling fan does not offer RGB/aRGB lighting as Cooler Master appears to be sticking with the original Hyper 212 theme of budget-minded minimalism. The cooling fin stack looks very similar to the Hyper 212 models of years past, but with some improvements. A milled aluminum mounting block is fixed to the heatpipes of the Evo v2 and provides much needed relief from the struggles of installing the original 212’s with the adjustable swing arm mount. The cross-section of the cooling tower reveals offset heatpipes and an ‘open’ fin stack which allows airflow to escape at any angle. The milled aluminum base has an aggressive saw-tooth milling that allows it to function not only as a mounting plate, but also to aid as additional thermal dissipation. The tension mounting screws are maintained with washer clamps, further adding to the improved mounting system. A set of four copper heatpipes provides the cooling power for the Hyper 212 EVO v2, which are integrated with the aluminum mounting plate and milled flush for CPU IHS direct-contact. The underside of the mounting block shows the securing clips for the tension mounting screws as well as the heatpipe integration into the cooling fin stack. The base of the cooler mated well with the face of our Intel Core i9-10850K CPU IHS and provided a quality thermal compound spread, showing consistent contact across the entirety of the processor with all four heatpipes directly interfaced. The updated mounting hardware for the new Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo v2 allows for a simpler installation than some of the older 212 models. The fixed mounting plate provides good stability to provide almost automatic alignment of the tension screws and the mounting brackets without rocking or twisting. The last step of installation is to add the SickleFlow 120 fan by snapping the retention brackets around the cooling tower and finding the appropriate 4-pin PWM header for fan management. With taller memory DIMMs like our Corsair Dominator Platinum modules, we can easily see how fan clearance can be an issue for systems using memory and tall heat spreaders, so take this into account. While the fan mount itself is adjustable, moving the 120mm fan also raises the airflow up and over the top of the cooler, lowering the efficiency of the cooler itself. Less airflow through the cooling fins means a lowered thermal load potential.

Super Punch Patrol (Nintendo Switch) Developer: Hörberg Productions Publisher: Hörberg Productions Released: September 17, 2020 MSRP: $4.99 Set in a city controlled by the Evil Crime Syndicate -- a criminal organization that employs everyone from swimmers to clowns to fancy ladies dressed in beautiful gowns -- Super Punch Patrol puts players in control of three cops that have had enough of the city's corruption and decide to take matters into their own hands. It's a set-up worthy of the inspiration for the title, with Bertil Hörberg reaching back to the earliest days of the side-scrolling beat 'em up genre in creating his latest title. Whereas this year's Streets of Rage 4 sought to update the often dusty conventions for a modern audience, Super Punch Patrol gives players the near-exact feel of those classics, warts and all. Super Punch Patrol's three playable characters fit the archetypes of the genre's protagonist staples. There's Anders Punch, a lumbering fellow who hits slow but hard; Nils, a quick cop who prefers to fight with his shirt off; and Selma, who plays more or less similar to Nils with a few unique characteristics of her own. Each character has a simple, one-button combo, as well as a super move that clears the area around them at the cost of a little bit of health. They also have a jump attack, a dash attack, and the ability to grab their opponents with a few options on how to dispose of them. You can also do a quick dodge either up or down on the stage, and that's a move I found myself relying on a lot. That's because this game is hard. On all difficulty levels, of which there are four, enemies can do a considerable amount of damage. The grunts you face in each stage are relentless, often attacking off-screen, hitting straight through your super moves, or quickly surrounding you to take turns punching you in the face like you're Kurt Russell at the end of Death Proof. A well-timed dodge might get you out of that pickle, but what this game could really use is a backward attack. The ability to throw the weapons you pick up would be helpful as well. Both attack options have been present in the genre for as long as I can remember, so it's disappointing they didn't find their way into this game. The lack of those moves, as well as the aggressive A.I. and the fact that enemies can come at you from both sides of the screen, results in an experience that is best played with a friend. Super Punch Patrol supports couch co-op, and an individual Joy-Con does a surprisingly excellent job of handling the gameplay. When playing with a partner, all the little frustrating moments I experienced going through it solo became extremely uncommon. Sure, enemies still dealt a bit too much damage, but with someone at my side, I didn't have to worry about one of my lives disappearing in seconds because I found myself surrounded by katana-wielding ninja and shirtless bears. The design of those bears and the other enemies you face are the clear highlight of this package. The sketchbook art direction here is fantastic, far ahead of what Hörberg achieved with his Gunman Clive titles. When this game was revealed, there were a lot of comments comparing the art to Tom of Finland. It's an apt comparison as, like Mr. Laaksonen, Super Punch Patrol has a clear admiration for the male body. You see it in the heroes, in the advertisements in the subway level, and in the moose knuckles of enemies like Henrik and Gustav when you knock them to the ground. Enemy variety is pretty small, and later stages contain nicely drawn reskins of those you've fought before; but at just five levels, it's not that big of a deal. The level designs themselves are pretty straight-forward, featuring a mix of beat 'em up staples like back alleys, sewers, elevators, and rooftops. There's even a rocket skateboard stage that feels right out of 1989's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And while each level is distinct in its setting, the lack of color throughout Super Punch Patrol leaves the city feeling a bit too lifeless. At $4.99, you really can't go wrong with downloading Super Punch Patrol from the eShop. With a few adjustments this could be a really good, potentially great game, but there's easily five bucks worth of entertainment here, including 12 costumes to unlock across the three characters and an online leaderboard if you want to chase high scores. Just make sure you bring a friend along because this city is not kind to those who walk its streets alone. Release date: Sep 17, 2020 Players: up to 2 players Genre: Action, Arcade, Fighting Publisher: Hörberg Productions Developer: Hörberg Productions Game file size: 129 MB Supported Languages: Japanese, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian

Arctic has unveiled a version of its legendary Freezer 50 cooler for mainstream AMD and Intel processors. This massive cooler weighs nearly 2.6 pounds (1.2 kilograms), has two fans, and promises to stay quiet even at reasonably high loads. The Freezer 50 launches just in time for AMD’s enthusiast-grade Ryzen 5000-series CPUs that will be available this November. The original Arctic Freezer 50 TR cooler was designed for AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper processors which can dissipate up to 280W at stock and a lot more when overclocked. Most owners of Threadripper systems use liquid coolers as they are concerned about properly cooling their power-hungry CPUs running at high clocks. This means that there are only a few air coolers for sTR4 processors on the market. Given the typical use cases of AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper, all of these air coolers are designed with overclocking in mind, so they can dissipate significantly more than 280 W. Applying this design to ‘mega coolers’ aimed at more mainstream CPUs will naturally give them a lot of headroom for overclocking. In fact, keeping in mind that AMD wants its Ryzen 5000-series CPUs with a TDP higher than 65 W to be cooled using a rather potent 280-mm all-in-one liquid cooling system or an ‘equivalent’ air cooling system, Arctic launches its Freezer 50 at the very right time. Indeed, the Arctic Freezer 50 promises to offer performance comparable to that of AIO liquid coolers. The unit comes with a gigantic dual-tower heatsink featuring 104 0.4-mm aluminum fins as well as six U-shaped 6-mm heat pipes that form a direct-touch base which covers the whole surface of a CPU’s IHS. The cooler uses two fluid dynamic bearing fans of different sizes — a 120-mm one and a 140-mm one — to maximize airflow and therefore increase performance. Arctic says that depending on the load, the 120-mm fan rotates at 200 ~ 1800 RPM, whereas the 140-mm fan rotates at 200 ~ 1700 RPM, so the cooler should be utterly quietly under light and even medium loads. Arctic claims that noise level produced by the cooler at max speeds should not exceed 0.4 Sone (23.5~25 dBA). Arctic’s Freezer 50 cooler is compatible with all modern mainstream platforms, including AMD’s AM4 as well as Intel’s LGA1200, LGA2066, LGA115x, and LGA2011-3 sockets. As far as dimensions are concerned, the Arctic’s Freezer 50 measures 5.8 x 5.9 x 6.5 inches (148×149.5×166 mm), just like its counterpart for Threadripper processors, so it will be compatible with the vast majority of spacious cases designed for enthusiasts. It also leaves a memory module clearance of 37.5 mm to maximize compatibility with high-end DRAM sticks. Since modern enthusiast-grade hardware should not only offer high performance, but also look flashy, the Freezer 50 comes with 13 A-RGB LEDs that can be controlled using software from leading makers of motherboards. The Arctic Freezer 50 is already available directly from the company in Europe for €59.99, including VAT. The cooler will probably hit major retailers in the coming weeks.

The man who set up the hated Nigerian police unit, Sars, accused of human rights abuses, has told the BBC that he feels "sad" and "guilty" about what the agency has become. "Sars of today is not the same Sars I established in 1984," Fulani Kwajafa said. He said the unit had been "turned into banditry". Officers from the Special Anti Robbery Squad have been accused of committing extrajudicial killings and torture. Africa Live: More updates from around the continent The young Nigerians who forced the president to back down Nigeria's 60-year struggle for unity President Muhammadu Buhari announced the disbandment of the agency this week after thousands of Nigerians took to the streets to protest against police brutality. A new agency called Swat has been formed to take over duties performed by Sars but this has also been rejected by the protesters. The demonstrators have been using the hashtag #EndSars to push for their cause, which has since been endorsed by global celebrities such as Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, US rapper Kanye West, gospel singer Kirk Franklin, footballers Mesut Ozil and Marcus Rashford and Nigerian superstars Davido and Wizkid. On Friday, Twitter launched a clenched fist emoji in a show of support for the protests. What else did Mr Kwajafa say? Mr Kwajafa said that the changes might be undermined if there's no "change in mentality". He added that the code of conduct that he set up when creating Sars had ensured that there was "no incident with members of the public" when he was in charge. The former police boss accused the agency of "brutality" saying that the officer's acts could have been driven by "greed." "I always tell my wife that I was sad [that] what I created with good purpose and direction has been turned into banditry," Mr Kwajafa said, adding that he supported the disbandment of the unit "100%". On Thursday, the Nigerian military issued a warning to "subversive elements and trouble makers" , who, it says, had taken advantage of the protests about police brutality. The government has since banned protests in the capital Abuja, citing public safety measures to tackle Covid-19.

The 1.5-litre engine is capable of between 37.2 and 44.8mpg, and emits 143-159g/km of CO2. Prices climb to £26,915 for Life trim, which is expected to be the best-selling variant and is available additionally with a 148bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine and a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Life also brings larger 18in wheels, rear privacy glass, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors and road sign recognition. The updated Tiguan has two range-topping trims in its standard form: Elegance at £32,430, and R Line from £32,730, each of which is available with a choice of petrol and diesel engines and equipped with the automatic gearbox as standard. Elegance cars are marked out by 19in alloy wheels, silver roof rails, chrome window trim and interior upgrades including ambient lighting, bespoke trim elements and the most advanced version of Volkswagen's Digital Cockpit infotainment system. Performance-inspired R Line cars take styling cues from the full-fat Tiguan R, arriving later this year, with lowered suspension, 20in Misano alloy wheels, a sports steering wheel and stainless steel pedals. The Tiguan is Europe’s favourite SUV, with more than six million examples having been sold since it came out in 2007. The second-generation model was launched in 2016, and this is the first major upgrade it has received. The new Tiguan R joins the larger Touareg R as part of the performance division’s rapidly expanding line-up. It uses the fourth-generation EA888 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, which takes it from 0-62mph in a claimed 4.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 155mph. As usual, this four-cylinder unit is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, four-wheel drive and the Dynamic Chassis Control system, which lowers the ride height by 10mm. The Tiguan R also benefits from a similar torque-vectoring function in its four-wheel drive system as the Arteon R. This can vary drive between the front and rear axles as well as the left and right rear wheels. The Tiguan has received only relatively minor external design changes, including LED lights front and rear as standard, with LED matrix interactive light modules optional. A new front bumper features enlarged air intakes, while a more prominent grille aims to visually widen the Tiguan and links with a new chrome strip above the headlights. The interior changes bring the Tiguan in line with Volkswagen’s newer models, with the latest version of the firm’s infotainment system and larger touchscreens available. Wireless Apple CarPlay is also offered, alongside Volkswagen’s We Connect system, which includes live traffic data and numerous app-based functions. Options include natural speech control, while the 10.0in digital dial display has been updated. There are also details such as two illuminated USB-C ports in the centre console, new multicoloured ambient lighting and, on the Tiguan R, exterior logo projection. The Tiguan can be specified with a touch-sensitive control module for climate functions in place of the physical dials, including illuminated sliders for fan and temperature control. A sports steering wheel can be chosen, as can a different wheel that has touch-sensitive controls and sliders in place of buttons. Meanwhile, the old Dynaudio stereo upgrade has been ditched in favour of a 480W, 10-speaker Harman Kardon system. UK specs have yet to be finalised, but expect kit upgrades across the range. As well as the Tiguan R, Volkswagen will now offer a plug-in hybrid Tiguan for the first time. With a powertrain similar to that used in the Golf, Passat and Arteon PHEVs, it combines a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine with an electric motor for 242bhp. It can run on electricity alone at speeds of up to 81mph and promises a 31-mile electric-only WLTP range. The eHybrid offers multiple driving modes, too, including one named GTE that maximises the output of both the engine and motor. Efficiency figures haven’t yet been published. The diesel engines now come with a twin-dosing selective catalytic reduction system to further reduce NOx emissions

Ford of Europe will join an emissions pool with other car makers as it seeks to reduce its CO2 levels and avoid fines imposed by EU regulations. The announcement comes just days after Renault opened an emissions pool and Volvo indicated it would be open to doing so, suggesting that the two brands are among the manufacturers Ford is planning to partner with. In a statement, Ford of Europe said that although it was on track to meet its emissions targets, problems with its Kuga plug-in hybrid (PHEV) - which has withdrawn from sale since August following safety issues - mean that it will fail to meet the EU’s passenger vehicles levels “on our own”. Ford must therefore purchase emissions credits from other manufacturers to avoid harsh EU fines. Transport & Environment claimed that Ford was less than 1.4g/km from meeting EU targets at the start of the year. The Kuga PHEV was taken off sale in August and 20,808 examples recalled by Ford due to concerns about overheating battery packs, which resulted in some cars catching fire. Ford has also told buyers not to charge their high-voltage battery “until further notice” and drive the car only in “EV Auto” drive mode. Ford has given affected owners a free three-year service and maintenance plan and, as of October, owners are also being offered a £500 voucher towards fuel as a goodwill gesture. While Ford is struggling to meet its EU targets for passenger vehicles, it expects to exceed its targets on light commercial vehicles. In light of this, Ford said: “We have filed separately our intent to form an open pool so other OEMs – including Volkswagen AG – can benefit from the positive CO2 performance of our light commercial fleet.” Ford and Renault are not the only manufacturers to exploit CO2 pools. Last year, Tesla made headlines when it admitted that it was making “hundreds of millions” of pounds selling EV credits to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.

Torchlight III (PC [reviewed], PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch) Developer: Echtra Games Publisher: Perfect World Entertainment Released: October 13, 2020 (PC, PS4, Xbox One), October 22, 2020 (Switch) MSRP: $39.99 After several months in Early Access, Echtra Games is pushing Torchlight III out the door. As a quick refresher, in my Steam Early Access review, I called Torchlight III more of a "spinoff than a numbered sequel." I said it didn't "do enough to encourage experimentation or creativity." It's a lighter, fluffier action-RPG, one that has a place but probably won't live up to long-time fans' expectations. Did they turn it around for the 1.0 launch? Not exactly. My overall impression has barely budged. If you're the kind of player who got deep into Torchlight II mods or spent countless hours crafting your ideal character builds, you're almost certainly going to feel under-served in Torchlight III. While some of the issues I faced in Early Access were tidied up – you can create an offline character if you don't want to deal with potential connection issues, and the powerful but risky removed-upon-death Lifebound items have become completely optional – the game's core design remains the same. Echtra made a huge change to the Relic system that feels different but not necessarily better. The story has a third act and a conclusion now – and there's a decently fun pick-your-poison escalating endgame challenge to grind out – but otherwise, I'm not that impressed. Torchlight III is okay. It's hard to settle on the main cause for concern without just pointing to a lack of flexibility and impact, two big areas where Torchlight III misses the mark compared to its tough competition in the genre. I appreciate that most of my time in this ARPG is spent in combat rather than constantly popping back to town or chatting with quest-givers, but on the flip side, when that's all the game has going for it and it doesn't feel fantastic in the short- or long-term, it's tough to stay motivated. This is a fleeting game. That said, there's an audience for a breezier, not-that-complicated action-RPG. Someone will like it. Dusk Mage, Forged, Railmaster, and Sharpshooter are your four choices in Torchlight III, and yeah, I had to go with the mustachioed man who wields a large hammer and summons a roaming turret train. (I also went with the alpaca companion over the dog or owl because that's just the kind of person I am.) Each character has two class-specific skill trees and a Relic subclass tree – poisonous spider minions, lightning storms, icy blasts, fireballs, and blood-fueled health regen – that you can choose from. Rolling a fresh Railmaster for this review, I went with the Bane relic again because I enjoyed having summons that could take hits for me. But unlike before, once I chose a relic, that was it – it's a permanent part of your hero's progression and it no longer levels up independently; it uses skill points. I can see where Ecthra was going with this change – it makes the skill-tree decisions feel more important – but that doesn't mean I like it. It took me far longer to feel powerful in this Torchlight III playthrough than it did in Early Access, and by the time I reached that point, I felt forced to stick with a setup that mostly worked for me even though I knew, deep down, it wasn't the best-case scenario. Several hours in, the game wasn't handing out enough ability respec items (Respectacles) to let me freely experiment and test drive potential builds. Certain abilities don't reveal their true strength (and synergies) until you've dumped enough points in them to hit thresholds that unlock perks. "Saving up" points in the meantime – purposefully holding out for eventual gains – doesn't feel very good. I also found some bosses to be way too spongy on Hard mode – to the point where I bumped the difficulty down two notches just to keep things moving at a sane pace. Somewhere in Echonok (the final region and by far the most interesting of the three biomes), I took a more focused approach with less spread-out abilities. My build finally clicked. I could shred elites and survive outlandish odds. The enemies and environments had more personality (no more goblins, skeletons, and insects!), the boss battles felt fine-tuned enough to be challenging but not an endless slog, and the loot – while not super enticing – was at least plentiful. I was relieved, but it also shouldn't have taken this long. After wrapping up the forgettable 12-hour campaign, I tried to grind for more legendary items in the endgame challenge, Fazeer Shah's Dun-Djinn, which lets you hop into one of three semi-randomized levels with varying boons and ailments. If you survive, you can move onto the next tier and pick another level. If you fail, you'll be knocked down a peg. It's the most engaging part of Torchlight III, and even though I'm moving on, I appreciate how condensed it is. There aren't silly hoops to jump through. As you acquire legendary gear throughout the game, you'll be able to equip your hero with (eventually) up to three extra passive skills that are based on the specific items you've found. You can also enhance items at your home base by dismantling unwanted gear and rolling new affixes using the Enchanter's Alter. There's a Fame-based battle-pass-like Contract system, too, but it exists as background noise while you play normally (until you notice a purple icon on your HUD reminding you to claim rewards). The problem is, most of the loot lacks that special "oh hell yeah" feeling of discovery. And the combat – well, it just doesn't feel like anything we haven't already seen before. It's arguably too surface-level. Other criticisms from the Early Access days – including the customizable Fort system that's perfect for running errands but doesn't feel very meaningful, especially if you're playing solo – are still present today. Most players are going to throw down a few crucial structures (some of which can boost gear luck and elemental defense) and be done with it, returning every so often for a quick check-in. The immediate future of open-source software is here for now after Linux 5.9 was declared stable. The news came directly from the man behind the platform, as Linus Torvalds wrote in a blog post that the new version was ready. "I had hoped for quite a bit fewer changes this last week, but at the same time there doesn't really seem to be anything particularly scary in here," Torvalds wrote in his release notes. "It's just more commits and more lines changed than I would have wished for." We've built a list of the best laptops for developers available Check out the best Linux laptops around today Forget Windows, Linux or MacOS: Our choice of the best alternative operating systems Linux 5.9 By Torvalds' own admision, Linux 5.9 doesn't feature any particularly striking changes or upgrades. The update brings a number of networking fixes, including some standalone drivers, and the reinstatement of the fbdev amba-clcd driver. "There's just a bit more of those kinds of tiny details than there should be fo(r) this kind of last delayed week. But since nothing in there gives me any particular reason to delay another week, here we are," Torvalds added. The launch comes as Linux usage appears to be falling across the world when compared to Microsoft's Windows juggernaut. According to the latest data from NetMarketShare, Linux devices made up just 1.14% of installs on all laptops and desktop PC devices in September 2020 - a sharp drop from the previous month, which had recorded a 2.23% market share for Linux in August 2020 - a decrease of nearly 50%. This is despite a number of high-profile new hardware releases in the last few weeks that support Linux, including a new range of Linux-ready laptops and business computers from Lenovo, with almost 30 new laptop and PC models revealed by the world's largest PC maker.

The GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090 are back in stock at some retailers (sometimes), such as Newegg. Unfortunately, you can only pick them up as part of bundles, and even at that, not all the bundles are available for purchase. Update: As of this evening, all of the combo deals were sold out. The limited stock on Nvidia's GeForce RTX 30-series (codename Ampere) has been an ongoing headache for both retailers and consumers. The situation won't improve any time soon as Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has confessed that the shortage will likely plague us until next year. News broke over in China that some motherboard vendors would leverage the circumstances to boost motherboard sales by pairing them up with Nvidia's Ampere-based graphics cards. It would seem that the practice has made its way over to the U.S. as Newegg is running different bundles with the GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090. There are currently 10 GeForce RTX 3080 bundles on Newegg. The graphics card is paired with everything imaginable, starting with SSDs, power supplies, motherboards and memory, just to name a few options. Unfortunately, none of the bundles are in stock, so it'll take a bit of patience to actually snag one up. Even those that show they're available end up with a page saying the graphics card is unavailable. The cheapest bundle comes in at $829.98 and binds the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 XC3 Gaming with a Crucial BX550 1TB SSD. It boasts a $20 savings, which would be lovely if it were available. At the other end of the spectrum, an ABS Gladiator Battlestation with RTX 3080 and all the bells and whistles is paired with a modest $300 1440p monitor, for a total price of $3779.99 (and $119.99 in savings). The GeForce RTX 3090 meanwhile stars in nine unique bundles on Newegg. The least expensive one starts at $1,634.98 and includes the EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 XC3 Gaming and the EVGA SuperNova 750 GT power supply, which seems a bit puny for the 350W card if you're using something like a Core i9-10900K, but whatever. At the top of the pricing ladder is an Asus X570 Crosshair VIII Hero (Wi-Fi) with a Strix 3090 for $2,159.98, a mere $20 discount. Except, it's out of stock as well. Over time, the bundling strategy might be an effective at helping clear out other inventory. It may also, to a certain extent, dissuade scalpers from buying up graphics cards that genuine consumers are interested in. The problem is that the bundles don't offer any flexibility at all. The graphics card that you want might not be matched with another piece of hardware that you want or need.

Paradise Killer (PC, Switch [reviewed]) Developer: Kaizen Game Works Publisher: Fellow Traveller Released: September 4, 2020 MSRP: $19.99 What the heck was Killer7 even about? Japan being on the brink of war with the United States? Political parties being infiltrated by terrorists? Brutal assassinations being carried out against key political figures? It sounds like a Tom Clancy novel, and I don’t mean that as a compliment. So why is it that I now have an urge to play it again? It certainly captured my imagination when I was younger. Cool characters, bizarre graphics, and cryptic dialogue, all presented in a heap reeking of weirdness. It was the ultimate style-over-substance game. Forget whether or not the gameplay was good, there was nothing like it at the time, and arguably, there still isn’t. Weirdness may not get you sales, but it definitely helps you stand out if you apply it to the correct areas. Paradise Killer is coated in the salve of abnormality, but will it cure the rash of the mundane, or is it just taking care of the itch? If I’ve lost you with these analogies, trust me, it’s about to get more confusing. Paradise Killer is really the story of two mysteries. The first is who killed the Syndicate Council. They were protected by four holy seals that are so impossible to breach that the crime scene can’t be investigated to confirm that they’re even dead. Yet, somehow, somebody got through and ended Paradise. Everyone is pretty sure it’s the demonically possessed citizen who escaped that night, because, after all, he was found on the steps of the council building with a knife and a belly full of their blood, but that leaves a lot of unanswered questions on its own. Someone needs to get to the bottom of this. The other mystery is just what the heck is going on in the game world. You belong to an organization that is devoted to resurrecting or summoning cosmic gods. The gods contacted humanity, pitted us against each other, and then were chased off or killed during the great betrayal. To bring them back, the Syndicate has been building islands of Paradise in pocket dimensions, then kidnapping citizens to work and worship on their island. However, each island has become corrupted by demons at some point and had to be wiped from existence, the citizens culled in a horrific ritual to harvest their psychic energy. Weirdly enough, by the end of the game, both these mysteries made sense to me. You play as Lady Love Dies, an investigator and part of the syndicate who was exiled after she was tricked by one of the cosmic gods, which nearly resulted in the syndicate being wiped out. She’s called back into action by Justice, an impartial judge who has tasked her with finding out who killed the council. The council was killed on the night that the 25th cycle of Paradise was to start, named Perfect 25 because of its supposed resistance to demonic influence. As a result, Paradise 24 has already been purged of its citizens and the only people left on the island are syndicate members who were still on the island when the murders happened. There are also some ghosts. And a dog. It’s up to you to gather clues and testimony and find out who killed the council. Was it the hunky doctor with robot arms? The goat-headed idol? The bartender who is just a red skeleton with ill-fitting pants? Was this a Murder on the Orient Express situation with all of them in on it? It’s entirely up to you how you conduct your investigation. At any time, you can bring the cast to trial and present your evidence. However, if you go in unprepared, you’re not going to get your conviction. Therefore, your efforts are best spent scouring the island for clues and interrogating suspects to find holes in their stories. This actually brings me to the one blight I found on the surface of Paradise; holy crap, the world is really boring. And it is packed with things to collect. From the game’s currency, blood crystals, that you pick up one at a time, to relics that reveal backstory but otherwise have no defined value, to the ever-important clues that will help your case, collectible items are scattered everywhere like a blimp full of confetti exploded above the city. Everything in Paradise Killer oozes style, just not the game world. Aside from the creepy statues of cosmic gods that cover the island, everything is really sterile. In no place is this more apparent than the residential districts, filled with Japanese inspired apartment buildings and houses. Stairs; lots of stairs. And they took the time to make sure there was a collectible in every nook and cranny: on decks, on rooftops, in backyards. It’s questionable as to whether you need all these collectibles or not, as you might be better off just focusing on finding major evidence. But, if you’re like me, you’re easily tempted by shiny things. Really, though, that’s my major complaint: the exploration kind of sucks because the world is so mundane at its core. The island isn’t .huge, but it’s big enough that you may want to invest in unlocking all the fast travel points. Otherwise, everything is brilliant. The writing is stellar, turgid with stylish weirdness, but not so abstract that it doesn’t start making sense once you learn the difference between your Silent Goat and your Eyes Kiwami. It offers multiple unique perspectives on this bizarre dimension you’re dropped in. Is the syndicate even worth saving, or has it become too corrupted to continue its existence? Wasn't its goal a little twisted in the first place? Every character has their own motives, alibis, and opinions. Each one is just as distinct as they look, all of them are hiding something, but does that mean they killed the council? Even characters who are never on screen get time to shine, with plenty of mentions of the cosmic gods and Syndicate members who have moved on or died. There’s a lot of depth to the world beneath all its absurdities, and it’s almost shocking how neat and tidy everything fits into place Memory:16 GB Graphics Card:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Paradise Killer CPU:Intel Core 2 Quad Q9705 File Size:6 GB OS:Windows 10 (64 bit)

This open-source platform plays well with Windows, Apple, and Linux devices. Compared to other free audio editors, Ocenaudio stands out for its ability to let you preview effects in real-time. Most tools force you to edit “destructively”, which means modifying the original audio file that you’re working with. However, with Ocenaudio, you can adjust your playback parameters directly. As a result, when you change an effect like reverb in Ocenaudio, you’ll hear the difference immediately. Ocenaudio can work with files hosted on cloud servers as well as those stored on your local PC. Some users find the interface a little sparse, but most appreciate its clean and colorful design. If you plan to edit frequently, the best thing to do is memorize some of Ocenaudio’s in-built keyboard shortcuts which will make your work significantly more efficient. For tech-savvy users or those willing to spend a few minutes learning how to navigate Audacity’s slightly intimidating interface, this is the best free audio editor. Audacity is an open-source product that works on Mac, Linux, and Windows devices. Over the years, it has developed an enormous developer following, meaning it’s constantly being updated with new features and plugins to keep it competitive with other audio editors. One of the best third-party Audacity plug-ins is Gsnap, which allows you to add autotune effects to your sounds. With this audio editor, you can edit pre-recorded files, capture new sounds, add effects, and stream podcasts. While beginners may be intimidated by the complicated visual look of the Audacity interface, it’s surprisingly user-friendly with lots of screen real estate dedicated to showing you the waveforms of your tracks and large buttons for important actions like starting and pausing recordings. 3. Ashampoo Music Studio 2019 Fully featured media player and audio editor combo Operating system: Windows Great for beginnersExtra file management toolsRips and burns CDsOnly for WindowsNo multi-track support Ashampoo Music Studio 2019 is a Windows-only audio editor and a great option for users who need to modify a sound file for the first time. This tool’s audio file editing interface is incredibly easy to use with a large waveform preview window taking up most of your screen, and buttons for key functions like cutting and pasting sections of your audio displayed below it. With Ashampoo, you don’t get multi-track support so this audio editor is best suited to rearranging simple audio clips. As the name suggests, Ashampoo Music Studio is more than a basic audio editor. You can actually use this freeware to design CD labels, edit file metadata tags, convert between different audio formats, and rip or burn discs.

CCLOnline, a UK based online retailer has begun listing the all-new Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 series CPUs on its website. Ranging from the 5600X all the way to the 5950X. The launch date for these CPUs is November 5th, so it's not surprising stores are preparing early in advance for this launch. The hype around Ryzen 5000 has been huge and we expect retailers to be gearing up for release. Let's hope this time it won't end up like the RTX 3080 launch. CCLOnline shows each Ryzen 5000 CPU as "coming soon" without any pricing information. However, a funny glitch allows you to see the prices if you view each Ryzen 5000 SKU's product page, then scroll down to the "You recently viewed these items.." area, the prices will reveal themselves. The Ryzen 5 5600X is priced at £310.69, the Ryzen 7 5800X at £466.57, Ryzen 9 5900X at £570.47, and the Ryzen 9 5950X at £830.26. Don't read too much into these "placeholder" prices, the real prices will be known nearer to release. AMD just announced its new lineup of Ryzen 5000 series processors for desktops, which are also the first chips from the company set to feature its next-gen Zen 3 architecture and represent the biggest jump for AMD’s desktop chips yet. AMD is also setting expectations high, promising that the new Ryzen 5900X is nothing short of “the world’s best gaming CPU.” The new chips will be available starting at $299 for the entry-level Ryzen 5 5600X model on November 5th. Like last year’s Zen 2-based Ryzen 3000 desktop chips these new models replace, the new 5000 series processors are still using AMD’s 7nm process but offer a 19 percent increase in instructions per cycle, along with a complete redesign of the chip layout and a higher max boost speed. (The new chipsets are jumping straight to Ryzen 5000 series branding to avoid any confusion of the new Zen 3 chips with the Zen 2-based Ryzen 4000 desktop chips that AMD released over the summer for prebuilt systems.) All together, AMD says that simply replacing a Zen 2 CPU with a comparable Zen 3 model —the new chips are compatible with older motherboards after a firmware update — will result in an average 26 percent improvement for customers, all while keeping TDP and core counts the same. AMD is starting with four new Zen 3 CPUs. There’s a top-of-the-line Ryzen 9 5950X model with 16 cores, 32 threads, and a max boost speed of 4.9GHz for $799; the $549 Ryzen 9 5900X, with 12 cores, 32 threads, and a max boost speed of 4.8GHz; the $449 Ryzen 7 5800X, with eight cores, 16 threads, and a max boost speed of 4.7GHz; and the $299 Ryzen 5 5600X, with six cores, 12 threads, and a max boost speed of 4.6GHz. Notably, each of those chips has gotten a $50 price increase compared to the original prices of the comparable Zen 2 CPUs from 2019. All four new CPUs will be available starting on November 5th. AMD is taking a direct shot at Intel with the new lineup, particularly the company’s Core i9-10900K model, which Intel has previously boasted is “the world’s fastest gaming processor.” While AMD’s chips don’t beat Intel 10th Gen chips on sheer clock speed — Intel’s top chip maxes out at a boosted 5.3GHz, while the Ryzen 5950X (AMD’s fastest new chip) tops out at 4.9GHz — AMD does offer other advantages, like improved power efficiency and a higher core and thread count. The company also points to benchmarks, claiming that the Ryzen 9 5900X manages to beat Intel’s i9-10900K in head-to-head performance for a wide range of titles, including League of Legends, Dota 2, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and more. (Intel’s chip still won out for Battlefield V, and we’ll have to wait and see how third-party benchmarks rank things before making any real judgments here.) Of course, a new CPU needs a new GPU to go with it, and AMD also took the time to start teasing its upcoming Radeon RX 6000 “Big Navi” graphics cards built on its next-gen RDNA 2 architecture that the company will be fully announcing on October 28th. The new cards are supposed to be AMD’s answer for Nvidia’s RTX 3000 GPUs, and the company is promising that it, too, will be able to push high-level 4K gaming, teasing over 60fps benchmarks for Borderlands 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and Gears 5 at ultra settings. AMD won’t have too long to rest on its laurels, though: Intel is already gearing up for its response, already teasing its 11th Gen Rocket Lake CPUs for early 2021. Hello there @YaKoMoS 🙂 Well You have just started with designing and your start is good. But you don't have that activity that requires for Designer. Im sorry but, From me Contra
