Android 12L is now available in beta on compatible Pixel devices, allowing users to try out the upcoming update which is designed to benefit users with large displays. The Android 12L update is designed for tablets, foldable phones, and other devices which support Android apps with big screens like Chromebooks. Google had previously announced in October that beta releases were expected to begin in December. Owners of Pixel 3a and newer models can now try out the Android 12L beta on their smartphones. The new Android 12L beta is now available for Google Pixel smartphones, going back to the Pixel 3a, the company announced on the Android Developers blog. While only Pixel devices are currently supported, Lenovo Tab P12 Pro owners will also be able to test the upcoming update, thanks to a partnership with Lenovo. Unfortunately, smartphone users will not be able to take advantage of all the features in the update, especially the ones designed for bigger displays. Users who have previously enrolled in the Android 12 Beta programme will automatically get the Android 12L update, according to the company. Developers who have installed Android Studio on their computers can also try out the upcoming Android 12L update today. As many of the features of Android 12L are geared towards devices with large screens, Google says the easiest way to test these is to install the update on the Android Emulator. Android 12L is probably the first time that Google has focused on optimising Android apps for larger screens since the arrival of the tablet-focussed Android Honeycomb more than nine years ago. The interface on Android 12 has been revamped and optimised to work on larger screens, such as the Recent Apps screen, which shows the previous app as a large card, and other apps to the left in smaller cards. Similarly, notifications are now located to the right side, while quick toggles and brightness controls are on the left side. The upcoming Android 12L update could also pack in a few features, including a new taskbar that resembles the one on Windows 11 or macOS, with support for shortcuts. Users can also drag and drop apps into split-screen mode from the taskbar. Google has also added new Jetpack application programming interfaces (APIs) for developers to adapt their apps to better work on bigger displays and apps like the Google Play Store are likely to get redesigned upgrades to work with larger displays. The stable version of Android 12L is expected to arrive on compatible devices in Spring 2022.

Ever wanted the console experience in a desktop ecosystem? Well MSI will soon have an answer for you in the form of its MAG Trident S Mini PC. MSI's MAG Trident S Mini PC Is A Console-Like Design Powered By AMD Ryzen 5700G & Perfect For Cloud / Mobile Gamers Previously teased at CES 2021, we only got a brief look at the MSI MAG Trident S Mini PC. The SFF design featured a dual-tone finish in black and brushed aluminum colors and featured the Silent Storm air chamber cooling design while the mainboard and power supply were housed in their own separate chambers for efficient cooling. Most of these design fundaments have remained the same but a major upgrade comes in the form of the specifications and feature list. The final design is not going to include the AMD Ryzen 7 4700G APU but instead, feature the latest Ryzen 7 5700G with 8 cores and 16 threads based on the Zen 3 core architecture. This means that the AM4 socket can be configured by users and the Mini PC also rocks two DDR4 DIMM slots. Both the CPU and the memory along with storage can be upgraded. But do note that this is a very small and compact design that has specifically been optimized to cool 65W APUs so you might want to stick to that configuration. The cooling is provided through a large aluminum fin stack which has 3 huge copper heat pipes leading from the CPU and comes with a blower fan to vent air out of the exhausts on the back. MSI will be utilizing the integrated Vega 8 GPU on the Ryzen 7 5700G for their MAG Trident S and there's a good reason behind that too. Due to limited capacity, there's no room to place a full-on discrete graphics card inside the case but having a discrete GPU inside defeats the whole purpose of having the Trident S. It is designed as a cloud & mobile gaming solution. The Vega GPU can offer great performance in eSports and mobile games. Besides that, it can also easily handle the latest cloud-streaming games from services like Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nvidia GeForce Now, or Sony PlayStation Now at 4K resolution. Coming to another strong suit of the MSI MAG Trident S is its native resolution and refresh rate. Not only does it offer a 4K resolution support but it does so at a 120 Hz refresh rate. In addition to that, users can also enable AMD's FSR while gaming natively on the machine. The MSI App Player will make for a perfect companion with the Trident S Mini PC as it offers a fully seamless gaming experience using Bluestacks and supports up to 240 FPS. The App Player can also run multiple mobile games at once at full resolution mode and you can additionally use virtually any kind of peripheral to the game including keyboard, mouse, and controller when plugged into a gaming display or a full-sized TV. We also have a few side-by-side comparisons of the MSI MAG Trident S Mini PC with the Xbox One X console. It measures almost the same and has a similar design albeit a bit taller when placed in a vertical position. I/O includes an HDMI, DisplayPort + VGA, dual USB, & a single Ethernet LAN port. Power is provided through a standard 19V DC port. Front IO includes a Mic/Headphone audio jack, USB 3.2 port, and a USB Type-C 3.2 port. Currently, there's no word on the pricing but MSI is going to talk more about it at CES 2022 which is just a few weeks away so stay tuned for more info.

STALKER 2 is finally approaching its April 28th, 2022 release date, scheduled for almost four years after the game's re-announcement. As such, the developers at GSC Game World have shared five gorgeous new screenshots and one brand new concept art for the game via the official Discord channel. Additionally, new information emerged in the latest PC Gamer magazine issue, with Russian fans all too eager to disseminate it. STALKER 2 will reportedly feature significant survival elements. The main character will need to be fed well, otherwise, hunger may reduce abilities and cause a rapid loss of stamina. On the other hand, once you've eaten properly, you'll be able to cover long distances more quickly. Likewise, sleeping will be a requirement. Spend over a day without any shuteye and your character's eyesight will begin deteriorating, along with stamina loss (again) and possibly even hallucinations, eventually. There are some quick remedies like consuming an energy drink, but they can only work for so long According to GSC Game World, over thirty quest designers have been working on the plot of STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl. The estimated length (likely including side content) is around a hundred hours and non-linearity will be a key factor as players progress through the game. Beyond regular stalkers and bandits, the Exclusion Zone will also feature the Warta faction, the equivalent of an unofficial police force. The faction leader, Colonel Alexander Korshunov, is described as a man who doesn't tolerate any kind of disloyalty from his subordinates. The faction as a whole supposedly wants to harness scientific discoveries made within the Zone for the betterment of humanity. The developers hinted that picking Warta or another of the factions available in STALKER 2 will be a major plot point in the game. That said, each faction includes characters with different ideologies. Mutated deers can apparently be a meaningful threat to the player character in STALKER 2. The mutation added a sort of armor frame to the animal, making it hard to find a weak spot vulnerable to damage. The mutated deer can be dangerous both with physical attacks and even psychic attacks, which are another nasty side effect of the radiation. These deers can summon other mutants and even conjure fake copies of themselves through illusion.STALKER 2 will be released for PC and Xbox Series S|X, with Microsoft grabbing a three-month console exclusivity. It's also going to be the first proper Unreal Engine 5 game (unless you count Fortnite Chapter 3). link : https://wccftech.com/stalker-2-gets-five-gorgeous-new-screens-and-info-on-survival-elements-longevity-new-factions-and-enemies/

New Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition mods that have been shared online in the past few days introduce new features to the new version of the classic open-world game developed by Rockstar Games. The first new mod is the Open All Interiors mod, which allows players to explore the interiors that appear during story missions. As of now, the mod adds 33 different interiors. The script makes the interiors of the scenes in GTA San Andreas DE available to visit. At the moment 33 hidden interiors are open, the list will be updated. In some of the interiors have defects with the collision of the walls. Be careful! Full list of interiors: - Sweet House; - Ryder House; - OG Loc House. - Poncho's House in Glen Park; - All of CJ's Girls' Houses; - Two brothels in Los Santos; - Wu Zi Mu office in San Fierro; - San Fierro Police Station; - Tranfender's Garage in San Fierro; - Doughnut Diner in Los Santos; - Doughnut Diner in San Fierro; - Doughnut Diner in Las Venturas; - Stores 24/7 near all gas stations throughout the state; - Also, all the houses available only during a thief's mission. The second Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition mod that adds new gameplay features is the Enhanced Cinematic Mode mod, which introduces a manual slow-down effect that can be activated at pretty much any time, as showcased in the video below.Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition is included in the Trilogy - Definitive Edition collection, which also includes Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City. The collection was released in a poor state, as highlighted by Nate in his review, but multiple patches have already gone live addressing many visual and gameplay issues. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition collects some truly groundbreaking games that still provide their share of nostalgic fun, but little has been done to make them shine here in 2021. Ultimately, a shoddy visual upgrade, choppy performance, and a lack of meaningful updates or extras may leave you questioning why you loved them in the first place. Perhaps this collection can be brought up to snuff with updates from Rockstar (or modders), but for now, its Wanted Level remains low. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One worldwide. link : https://wccftech.com/grand-theft-auto-san-andreas-the-definitive-edition-new-mods-iinteriors-enhanced/

A Sonic Frontiers web domain has been registered recently, hinting at an imminent announcement. The new domain, which can be accessed by going here, currently shows a 403 Access Denied error code, but the timing of the registration seems to hint that the next entry in the series by SEGA will be announced soon, also considering the franchise's Steam page has been recently updated to include one more game. Very little is currently known about Sonic Frontiers. The game, which was announced earlier this year, still has to receive an official name, but a retracted press release originally confirmed the name to be Sonic Rangers. A recent trademark filing, however, suggests that the Rangers name was dropped in favor of another. While little is known about Sonic Frontiers, it seems like the game will try to innovate the formula in some way, as Sonic producer Takahashi Iizuka hopes the game will have the same lasting influence as Sonic Adventure. The new title in development is progressing towards a 2022 release, so I can’t really call it an Anniversary title. However, Sonic Adventure laid the foundation for 20 years of Sonic titles after its release, so in the same way I really hope that this new title releasing in 2022 lays the foundation for the following future Sonic titles – that is the idea behind the challenge for the team. Sonic Frontiers has yet to be announced. We will keep you updated on the game as soon as more come in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.

Today, we are taking a look at more Z690 motherboards, this time from ASRock as Intel has finally unleashed a sub-10nm (officially the Intel 7 process, which is comparable to TSMC 7nm) desktop CPU with its 12th Gen Alder Lake processors, and the company’s multi-year slippage at 14nm is officially over. The Alder Lake architecture also features a plethora of innovative changes including a hybrid architecture with big.SMALL design features p and e-cores as well as a new hardware scheduling technology that will go live in Windows 11. The company has largely been stagnant in the consumer desktop space. The main reason for this stagnation has been Intel's reliance on its 14nm process node and Skylake architecture which has served the desktop space since 2015 up till 2020 (10th Generation Comet Lake) while Intel's 10nm process dilemmas and yields couldn't keep up with Skylake in mainstream desktop space. To build up its 10nm inventory for a mass consumer launch, Intel did release an intermediate platform, the Z590, and the respective 11th Gen Rocket Lake lineup with a new architecture but limited to just 8 cores due to power scaling and inefficiency on the 14nm process node. One of the issues and an ongoing one is the competitive threat from AMD's Ryzen processors which aren't only tackling Intel in terms of pure core count but also in terms of IPC which has exceeded Skylake levels and also pricing in which AMD has simply made Intel's once iconic Core i5 and Core i7 lineups disappear from the game. Despite the newer architecture, the Rocket Lake CPUs proved not to be competitive in the multi-threaded space and Ryzen 5000 CPUs even offered better gaming performance in several AAA titles. There's another key department where Intel still holds the lead over AMD which is due to the process maturation of the 14nm node over the years. In terms of clock speeds, Intel has taken the battle to AMD which makes sense in a way since while their remerged rival can beat them in terms of price, cores, they can surely flex their muscles in terms of clock speeds, however, AMD has been knocking the socks off Intel with its impressive gen-over-gen IPC gains which invalidate the clock speed gains that intel has been so proud of. Those clock speeds also come at a big disadvantage on the existing 14nm node and that's power consumption. Intel Desktop CPUs are no longer the king in terms of efficiency. Intel 12th Gen vs AMD Ryzen 5000 Desktop CPU Prices: Intel CPU Cores / Threads Clocks (Max) Price (MSRP) Prices (Newegg) - 01/11/2021 Prices (Newegg) - 01/11/2021 Price (MSRP) Clocks (Max) Cores / Threads AMD CPU N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A $749.99 US $799 US 4.7 GHz (105W) 16/32 AMD Ryzen 9 5950X Intel Core i9-12900K 16/24 5.2 GHz (241W) $589 US (K) $564 US (KF) $649.99 K $629.99 KF $559.99 US $549 US 4.6 GHz (105W) 12/24 AMD Ryzen 9 5900X Intel Core i7-12700K 12/20 5.0 GHz (190W) $409 US (K) $384 US (F) $449.99 K $419.99 KF $394.99 US $449 US 4.7 GHz (105W) 8/16 AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Intel Core i5-12600K 10/16 4.9 GHz (150W) $289 US (K) $264 US (KF) $319.99 K $299.99 KF $309.99 US $299 US 4.6 GHz (65W) 6/12 AMD Ryzen 5 5600X So this year, Intel has decided to launch a second architecture overhaul, and oh boy! It's a big one. Enter Alder Lake, a brand new approach to x86 consumer processors which feature two key cores technology and come with a brand new platform that is outfitted with the next-generation features such as DDR5 and PCIe 5.0. The Intel 12th Gen Alder Lake lineup will include the top to bottom i9, i7, i5, and i3 chips. Main features of Intel's Alder Lake Desktop CPUs include: Intel 7 Process Technology Performance hybrid architecture, combing P-Cores and E-Cores Intel Thread Director Core architecture featuring performance improvements Up To 19% IPC increase Up To 16 Cores (8 P-Cores + 8 E-Cores) and 24 threads Increased L2 cache and L3 shared Intel Smart Cache DDR5 Support (Up To 4800 MT/s) Processor PCIe 5.0 (up to 16 lanes) Chiplet PCIe 4.0 (up to 12 lanes) Integrated WiFi 16E Support Up To 8 DMI 4.0 lanes Core and memory overclocking enhancements Enhanced Intel UHD graphics driven by Xe architecture Their main competitor is still the AMD Ryzen 5000 lineup based on the Zen 3 architecture that was introduced back in Q4 2020 and based on the Zen 3 core architecture. For this review, I'll be putting the Core i9-12900K to test on two Z690 motherboards, the ASRock Z690 Taichi and ASRock Z690 PG Velocita.

A new comparison video has been released, comparing gameplay of the original HD version of Resident Evil 4 to the upcoming fan-made remaster, Resident Evil 4 HD Project. As covered last week, the highly-anticipated fan project is releasing in a few months on the 2nd of February, and courtesy of “ElAnalistaDeBits”, we now have a comparison video, highlighting the visual differences between the original Ultimate HD edition of the game and the fan-made remaster. The project has been in the works for roughly 7 years, and as can be seen in this video, it shows. Not only have the game’s models and texturing lighting been improved, but the team has also revised the game’s cinematics. In addition, new meshes were created for some objects that were actually transparent in the original game. It has to be said, this upcoming mod looks truly ravishing and we can’t wait to try it out once it releases in a couple of months. We’ve included the key features of the Resident Evil 4 HD Project down below: Restoring the visuals using the original real world sources. In preparation for the original game, Capcom gathered texture assets by photographing a variety of real-world locations, primarily throughout Spain and Wales. For this project, Albert has gone to these same locations to gather higher resolution assets. The result is a visual experience that is as true to the original game as possible, presented in resolutions up to 16 times that of the original game. Correcting texture mapping and 3D modeling issues. Texture mapping and 3D modeling errors that weren’t noticeable in the original game being played on a CRT television become more apparent when playing in HD resolutions. Examples include objects floating above the surface they should rest on, improperly placed shadow layers, seams appearing where textures are supposed to flow continuously. We are correct these issues throughout the game. Enhancing flat objects to true 3D models. Due to limitations of the original hardware, objects like lamps, candle-holders, doors, decorative emblems, etc. were originally created as flat objects. In many instances we are able to revise these objects to be true 3D models, observable from any angle. Remaining committed to the original visuals. Our intent throughout the project is to remain true to the original visuals and artistic intent. The best kind of feedback we receive is when people say that the game looks like what they *imagined* it to look like when they first played it 10 years ago. While we are not perfect, we continually refer back to the original texture assets to ensure we do not deviate in a significant manner. link : https://wccftech.com/resident-evil-4-hd-project-comparison/

Oppo F21 series was previously reported to be debuting in the Indian market with two devices by the end of Q1 2022, likely March. It is now being reported that the Oppo F21 Pro+ and the standard Oppo F21 will release in India next year between March 17 and March 21. If the report is to be believed, the Oppo F21 Pro+ is going to be the first device from the F21 series to hit the shelves. The standard Oppo F21 is expected to be released a week later. A report by 91Mobiles claims that Oppo is also working on a third device for the F21 series, Oppo F21 Pro. However, as of now, there is no clear timeline regarding the release of this model. The F21 series of smartphones are tipped to sport a sleek and stylish design, even more than the Reno 7 series. The official hardware specifications of this series are still unknown to us. According to a previous report, we do have some idea regarding its pricing. The Oppo F21 series is supposed to target the mid-range market and is expected to be priced between Rs. 20.000 to 30,000. The Oppo F21 series is going to succeed the Oppo F19 series of smartphones. The preceding series featured the Oppo F19, F19 Pro, and F19 Pro+. At launch, the F19 series was priced between Rs. 19,000 and 26,000. All three smartphones ran on Android 11-based ColourOS 11. The F19 series smartphones featured a 48-megapixel quad rear camera setup with a 16-megapixel selfie camera. Major differences in this series were introduced in the form of the processing power allotted to each device. The standard Oppo F19 was equipped with the Snapdragon 662 SoC. In the middle, Oppo F19 Pro featured the Mediatek Helio P95 chipset. Finally, Oppo F19 Pro was powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC.

Gigabyte and AMD have a very special new years gift for gamers out there in the form of even higher prices for their Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards and the respective Gaming GPUs prices. Gigabyte Follows AMD Protocol, Jacks Up Radeon RX 6000 Gaming Graphics Cards Prices By Up To 6% It is reported by Board Channels forums as discovered by Videocardz that AMD's partner, Gigabyte, has increased the prices of their Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards by up to 6% in December. It has only been 3 days in the new month and distributors had already been notified in advance to re-adjust pricing of Gigabyte products. This could've been done to mark up prices prior to the holiday season which begins shortly. As for the new prices, almost the entire lineup except the flagship Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card has seen a price rise. The RX 6900 XT was already hard to get hands-on and the most expensive in the lineup, costing over $2000 US in various outlets. All Radeon RX 6800 XT models will see a price rise of 500 RMB or around 70-80 USD, Radeon RX 6800 models will see a price rise of 300 RMB or 47 USD, Radeon RX 6700 XT & RX 6600 XT will see a price rise between 100-200 RMB or 15-30 USD while the entry-level Radeon RX 6600 will see a price rise of 200 Yuan or 30 USD. On average, this is around a 40-50 USD hike in overall prices for Gigabyte's AMD Radeon RX 6000 series lineup. The following table, courtesy of Videocardz, shows just how bad the price inflation has become in the Chinese retail sector for Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards: Gigabyte Radeon RX 6000 December 1st Price Increase Price Increase Current JD.com price* Estimated New Price Radeon RX 6900 XT no change 11000 RMB (1725 USD) – Radeon RX 6800 XT 500 RMB (78 USD) 8300 RMB (1302 USD) ~8800 RMB (1380 USD) / +6% Radeon RX 6800 300 RMB (47 USD) 7400 RMB (1161 USD) ~7700 RMB (1208 USD) / +4% Radeon RX 6700 XT 100-200 RMB (16-31 USD) 5800 RMB (907 USD) up to 6000 RMB (941 USD) / +3% Radeon RX 6600 XT 100-200 RMB (16-31 USD) 4300 RMB (674 USD) up to 4500 RMB (706 USD) / +5% Radeon RX 6600 200 RMB (31 USD) 3600 RMB (565 USD) ~3800 RMB (596 USD) / +6% The main reason, as previously cited, is TSMC's foundry costs and the price to acquire 7nm wafers. The source states that due to increased production and process node acquiring costs, TSMC has raised its prices for all partners including AMD whose entire AMD Ryzen and AMD Radeon lineup currently relies on the 7nm process node. It is not just Gigabyte but other AMD partners such as ASUS, MSI, Sapphire, XFX, PowerColor, etc, are also expected to raise the pricing of their own Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards within this week. We know that the GPU market isn't expected to get normal until 2023 so till then, we might see even more price hikes and shortages as reported here. In an interview during the Credit Suisse 25th Technology Conference, AMD's CEO, Lisa Su, made a hilarious yet interesting reply to a question regarding the availability and prices of consoles that feature the brand new RDNA 2 GPUs.

Intel's upcoming Core i3-12100 Desktop CPU which will be part of the non-K Alder Lake family has been tested against AMD's entry-level Ryzen CPUs by XFastest (via Videocardz). The tech pub was able to obtain engineering samples of the new SKU which will be the most entry-level chip within the 12th Gen lineup. Intel's Most Entry-Level Alder Lake Desktop CPU, The Core i3-12100, Gets Tested Against AMD's Ryzen 3 Chips Intel's current Alder Lake lineup only consists of Core i9, Core i7, and Core i5 offerings. The more entry-level SKUs in addition to the non-K parts will be launching a bit later with the H670, B660 & H610 motherboard platforms. The lineup will also feature the entry-level Core i3 Desktop CPUs & Intel expects them to be a po[CENSORED]r offering in the budget segment. With pricing and performance wins in the high-end and mainstream segment, Intel will now focus on the more budget offerings. Coming to the specifications for the Intel Core i3-12100 Desktop CPU, you are getting 4 cores with 8 threads. All cores are based on the Golden Cove architecture and there's no hybrid architecture on this chip as will be the case with every chip below the Core i5-12600K. The CPU has a boost clock of up to 4.3 GHz (single-core) and a base TDP of 60W while the maximum turbo power (MTP) is rated at just 77W. So one thing is for sure that these chips won't consume over 100W of power like their unlocked brothers. The Intel Core i3-12100 Alder Lake Desktop CPU was tested on an ASRock Z690 Steel Legend board with 16 GB DDR4-3600 memory and a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics card. For comparison, the tech outlet used the AMD Ryzen 3 3300X and Ryzen 3 3100, both of which are quad-core designs, tested on ASRock's X470 Taichi motherboard with the same memory and GPU configuration. Various tests and performance benchmarks were run which can be seen below: As you can see in the results above, the Intel Core i3-12100, even being an entry-level chip with just 4 cores, offers some serious horsepower. Not only is the chip faster than AMD's entry-level Zen 2 line of CPUs but it also runs cooler and consumes just about the same power while offering better performance. Based on what we know, the Intel Core i3-12100 might be close to $100 US in pricing since the previous Core i3, the i3-10100 had a retail price of $122 US. This would make the chip a strong contender in the entry-level and budget PC segment. AMD seems to be aware of this threat and allegedly readying their own lineup of Zen 2 powered Renoir X CPUs to combat Core i3 Alder Lake CPUs but we will have to wait and see whether that's enough to challenge Golden Cove cores. link :https://wccftech.com/intel-core-i3-12100-entry-level-alder-lake-desktop-cpu-benchmarks-leak-out-faster-than-amds-entry-level-ryzen-3-lineup/

Minisforum has unveiled its brand new DeskMini TH50 Mini PC which will be powered by Intel's Tiger Lake-H CPUs. Intel Core i5-11320H 10nm Tiger Lake-H CPU To Power Minisforum's Deskmini TH50 Mini PC While Minisforum has released several high-end Mini-PCs based on AMD's Ryzen 4000H and Ryzen 5000H/5000X CPUs, they didn't upgrade their Intel systems as frequently. With the DeskMini TH50, that changes as the company will be offering a high-end Tiger Lake-H CPU within the new Mini PC. Based on the specifications that Minisforum has provided, the Deskmini TH50 is the successor to the TL50 which featured the Tiger Lake Core i5-1135G7 CPU. Keeping track of all the latest video games coming out is an increasingly complex task, what with multiple PC storefronts, Xbox One, PS4, Switch, mobile, and more to keep track of, but don’t worry, I’m here to help. Every month I'll be running down the games you need to be keeping an eye on, from the big triple-A headliners, to the intriguing indies you might otherwise overlook. As is usually the case, December is mostly quiet as the industry winds down for the holidays, but we still have one more big AAA release in Halo Infinite. Things are more varied on the indie front, with DayZ creator Dean Hall’s new survival game Icarus, Castlevania-style platformer Aeterna Noctis, pollution-sucking sci-fi adventure The Gunk, and more on the way. Note: While I may have played demos or got early access to some of the games recommended in this article, in most cases I’m simply choosing games that look promising, and can’t vouch for the end product. Do wait for reviews before buying! That said, here are the games you should be looking out for in December… The Headliners Icarus (PC, Dec. 3) DayZ creator Dean Hall returns to the genre he helped create and po[CENSORED]rize with Icarus, a new take on the survival genre which challenges up to 8 co-op players to stick it out on an alien planet with sessions that can last hours, days, or weeks depending on the player’s preferences. Icarus is also aiming to deliver on the technical front, offering support for DLSS, ray tracing, and NVIDIA’s new Infinite Scrolling Volumes tech that constantly updates Global Illumination lighting around the player as they explore the world. We’ll see if this one survives the competitive survival market. Pre-order the game here. Halo Infinite (PC, Xbox One & Xbox Series X/S, Dec. 😎 After years of development and multiple delays, Halo Infinite’s single-player campaign is almost here (the game’s F2P multiplayer suite is already available). It seems like the extra time Microsoft gave 343 Industries has done Halo Infinite good, as the game is looking sharp in recent trailers and footage and impressions of the game’s new semi-open-world “wide linear” approach have been positive. Time to suit up again, Master Chief. Pre-order the game here. Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach (PC, PS4 & PS5, Dec. 16) The Five Nights at Freddy’s games have certainly been successful and fun in their own right, but most of them haven’t been terribly ambitious. They’re simple games meant to elicit a few jump scares and not much more. The upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach looks to shake that up, as it’s a full-fledged 3D survival horror game that almost resembles a kid-friendly Resident Evil. Hopefully, the game can deliver both jump scares and a bit of depth. Pre-order the game here. White Shadows (PC, Xbox Series X/S & PS5, Dec. 7) Indie puzzle platformers in which you play a child navigating a dark and dangerous world aren’t exactly rare, but the newest entry in the sub-genre, White Shadow, still deserves mention thanks to its striking black-and-white noir-ish visual style. And hey, the game’s action also looks pretty solid! Here’s the Steam page for White Shadows. Syberia: The World Before (PC, Dec. 10) The cult-favorite Syberia adventure game series returns for a new entry with Syberia: The World Before. The last entry in the series, Syberia 3, was a bit of a flop, but The World Before seems to have been made with a bigger budget and its story looks to represent a bit of a fresh start. Reactions to the game’s demo have been positive, so hopefully that bodes well. Here’s the Steam page for Syberia: The World Before. Aeterna Noctis (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 & Switch, Dec. 15) Looking for some good old-school Castlevania fun? Well, It’s hard to say if Konami will ever make another of those, but in the meantime, Aeterna Noctis may be able to scratch your itch. While it doesn’t feature any bloodsucking, Aeterna Noctis does offer up fast-paced platforming and action, plenty of exploration, and a slick 2D visual style. Yeah, there are a lot of 2D Metroidvanias out there, but there's nothing wrong with more of a good thing around the holidays. Here’s the Steam Page for Aeterna Noctis. The Gunk (PC, Xbox One & Xbox Series X/S, Dec. 16) The Gunk is the latest game from developer Image & Form, best known for the cult-favorite SteamWorld Dig games. The resource mining is left behind this time around, but The Gunk still offers plenty of busy work as players are tasked with cleaning up pollution in order to bring an alien world back to life. Featuring impressive graphics, this one looks to be an ambitious step forward for an underappreciated indie developer. Full List of Games Worth Watching in December: Century: Age of Ashes (PC, Dec. 2; consoles in 2022) Mechajammer (PC, Dec. 2) Solar Ash (PC, PS4 & PS5, Dec. 2) Rubber Bandits (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 & PS5, Dec. 2) Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain (Switch, Dec. 3) Chorus (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 & Stadia, Dec. 3) Disney Magical World 2: Enhanced Edition (Switch, Dec. 3) Icarus (PC, Dec. 3) White Shadows (PC, Xbox Series X/S & PS5, Dec. 7) Halo Infinite (PC, Xbox One & Xbox Series X/S, Dec. 😎 Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space (Xbox One & Switch, Dec. 😎 Demon Gaze Extra (PS4 & Switch, Dec. 9) Syberia: The World Before (PC, Dec. 10) Thunder Tier One (PC, Dec. 10) Firegirl: Hack & Splash (PC, Dec. 14; consoles in 2022) Aeterna Noctis (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 & Switch, Dec. 15) Alfred Hitchcock: Vertigo (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 & Switch, Dec. 16) Sky Fleet (PC, Dec. 17) Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach (PC, PS4 & PS5, Dec. 16) The Gunk (PC, Xbox One & Xbox Series X/S, Dec. 16) Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 & Switch, Dec. 23) And those are the games you should be keeping an eye on this coming month. What games are you planning to pick up in December? Did I miss anything you’re looking forward to? link : https://wccftech.com/video-games-coming-out-december-2021/
