Keeping track of all the latest video games coming out is an increasingly complex task, what with multiple PC storefronts, Xbox One, PS4, Switch, mobile, and more to keep track of, but don’t worry, I’m here to help. Every month I'll be running down the games you need to be keeping an eye on, from the big triple-A headliners, to the intriguing indies you might otherwise overlook. As is usually the case, December is mostly quiet as the industry winds down for the holidays, but we still have one more big AAA release in Halo Infinite. Things are more varied on the indie front, with DayZ creator Dean Hall’s new survival game Icarus, Castlevania-style platformer Aeterna Noctis, pollution-sucking sci-fi adventure The Gunk, and more on the way. Note: While I may have played demos or got early access to some of the games recommended in this article, in most cases I’m simply choosing games that look promising, and can’t vouch for the end product. Do wait for reviews before buying! That said, here are the games you should be looking out for in December… The Headliners Icarus (PC, Dec. 3) DayZ creator Dean Hall returns to the genre he helped create and po[CENSORED]rize with Icarus, a new take on the survival genre which challenges up to 8 co-op players to stick it out on an alien planet with sessions that can last hours, days, or weeks depending on the player’s preferences. Icarus is also aiming to deliver on the technical front, offering support for DLSS, ray tracing, and NVIDIA’s new Infinite Scrolling Volumes tech that constantly updates Global Illumination lighting around the player as they explore the world. We’ll see if this one survives the competitive survival market. Pre-order the game here. Halo Infinite (PC, Xbox One & Xbox Series X/S, Dec. 😎 After years of development and multiple delays, Halo Infinite’s single-player campaign is almost here (the game’s F2P multiplayer suite is already available). It seems like the extra time Microsoft gave 343 Industries has done Halo Infinite good, as the game is looking sharp in recent trailers and footage and impressions of the game’s new semi-open-world “wide linear” approach have been positive. Time to suit up again, Master Chief. Pre-order the game here. Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach (PC, PS4 & PS5, Dec. 16) The Five Nights at Freddy’s games have certainly been successful and fun in their own right, but most of them haven’t been terribly ambitious. They’re simple games meant to elicit a few jump scares and not much more. The upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach looks to shake that up, as it’s a full-fledged 3D survival horror game that almost resembles a kid-friendly Resident Evil. Hopefully, the game can deliver both jump scares and a bit of depth. Pre-order the game here. White Shadows (PC, Xbox Series X/S & PS5, Dec. 7) Indie puzzle platformers in which you play a child navigating a dark and dangerous world aren’t exactly rare, but the newest entry in the sub-genre, White Shadow, still deserves mention thanks to its striking black-and-white noir-ish visual style. And hey, the game’s action also looks pretty solid! Here’s the Steam page for White Shadows. Syberia: The World Before (PC, Dec. 10) The cult-favorite Syberia adventure game series returns for a new entry with Syberia: The World Before. The last entry in the series, Syberia 3, was a bit of a flop, but The World Before seems to have been made with a bigger budget and its story looks to represent a bit of a fresh start. Reactions to the game’s demo have been positive, so hopefully that bodes well. Here’s the Steam page for Syberia: The World Before. Aeterna Noctis (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 & Switch, Dec. 15) Looking for some good old-school Castlevania fun? Well, It’s hard to say if Konami will ever make another of those, but in the meantime, Aeterna Noctis may be able to scratch your itch. While it doesn’t feature any bloodsucking, Aeterna Noctis does offer up fast-paced platforming and action, plenty of exploration, and a slick 2D visual style. Yeah, there are a lot of 2D Metroidvanias out there, but there's nothing wrong with more of a good thing around the holidays. Here’s the Steam Page for Aeterna Noctis. The Gunk (PC, Xbox One & Xbox Series X/S, Dec. 16) The Gunk is the latest game from developer Image & Form, best known for the cult-favorite SteamWorld Dig games. The resource mining is left behind this time around, but The Gunk still offers plenty of busy work as players are tasked with cleaning up pollution in order to bring an alien world back to life. Featuring impressive graphics, this one looks to be an ambitious step forward for an underappreciated indie developer. Full List of Games Worth Watching in December: Century: Age of Ashes (PC, Dec. 2; consoles in 2022) Mechajammer (PC, Dec. 2) Solar Ash (PC, PS4 & PS5, Dec. 2) Rubber Bandits (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 & PS5, Dec. 2) Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain (Switch, Dec. 3) Chorus (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 & Stadia, Dec. 3) Disney Magical World 2: Enhanced Edition (Switch, Dec. 3) Icarus (PC, Dec. 3) White Shadows (PC, Xbox Series X/S & PS5, Dec. 7) Halo Infinite (PC, Xbox One & Xbox Series X/S, Dec. 😎 Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space (Xbox One & Switch, Dec. 😎 Demon Gaze Extra (PS4 & Switch, Dec. 9) Syberia: The World Before (PC, Dec. 10) Thunder Tier One (PC, Dec. 10) Firegirl: Hack & Splash (PC, Dec. 14; consoles in 2022) Aeterna Noctis (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 & Switch, Dec. 15) Alfred Hitchcock: Vertigo (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 & Switch, Dec. 16) Sky Fleet (PC, Dec. 17) Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach (PC, PS4 & PS5, Dec. 16) The Gunk (PC, Xbox One & Xbox Series X/S, Dec. 16) Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 & Switch, Dec. 23) And those are the games you should be keeping an eye on this coming month. What games are you planning to pick up in December? Did I miss anything you’re looking forward to? link : https://wccftech.com/video-games-coming-out-december-2021/

Oppo's foldable smartphone, which has reportedly been in the works for some time, could feature an inward-folding display resembling the po[CENSORED]r foldable smartphones from Samsung and Huawei, according to new details shared by a tipster. The smartphone is also expected to feature an 8-inch LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a curved cover screen with a 60Hz refresh rate, along with a 50-megapixel triple camera setup and a 32-megapixel selfie camera. The phone is expected to ship with a Snapdragon 888 SoC under the hood. The company's first foldable smartphone could sport an inward-facing design, resembling po[CENSORED]r foldable handsets like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Huawei Mate X2, according to two separate posts on Weibo by tipster Digital Chat Station first spotted by Sparrow News. The tipster mentions the name Oppo Find N 5G, but the company is yet to officially reveal any information regarding this smartphone. Oppo's foldable smartphone is tipped to sport a "7.8-inch to 8-inch" LTPO display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, according to previous leaks. However, there is no mention of the resolution of the display. The tipster says that the cover screen will feature a slightly curved design, and support a refresh rate of 60Hz. The smartphone is also said to feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor The company's rumoured smartphone could feature a Snapdragon 888 SoC under the hood, running on ColorOS based on Android 11. On the camera front, the tipster says that the smartphone will feature a triple camera setup featuring a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary sensor, a 16-megapixel IMX481 sensor, and a 13-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL SK3M5 sensor. NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is going to be the grandest Ampere graphics card for gamers and as such, it will feature some insane specifications. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti To Feature Full-Blown Ampere GA102 GPU With Micron's Speedy 21 Gbps GDDR6X Memory Chips According to a tweet by Uniko's Hardware, it looks like NVIDIA is going all-out with its GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, a new flagship that has been floating in the rumor mill for quite some time now. The new graphics card will house Micron's 'MT61K512M32KPA-21U' chips which not only run at faster clock speeds but also feature twice the capacity of what's currently featured on the GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti 'Alleged' Specifications First up, we have the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti and this is expected to be a Titan-class card once again. Kopite7kimi had previously stated that NVIDIA is unlikely to use the RTX 3090 SUPER naming convention & go with something else considering that this is one of their top-tier product so the 'Ti' branding makes sense. As for the specs, 3090 SUPER is expected to rock the full GA102 GPU core with 10752 cores and 24 GB GDDR6X memory. The memory will be faster-clocked thanks to improved dies from Micron, pushing speeds past 20 Gbps. The pricing may be kept the same at $1499 US (MSRP) but overall, we are looking at a minor 5% improvement. A previous rumor also stated that the GeForce RTX 3090 SUPER graphics card will feature a TGP of over 400W. That's 50W more than the existing 3090 which means that we could be looking at faster clocks on GPU and VRAM. There's also been a rumor of a brand new power connector that will come in the MicroFit form factor but it isn't going to look anything like the existing connector. The new 16-pin connector will be PCIe Gen 5.0 ready & will offer some current stability for the next-gen protocol which is expected to be introduced on the flagship card. A major change for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti would be the addition of 2GB GDDR6X memory modules. Running at 21 Gbps will require more power and more power translates to higher temps. We have already seen how the VRAM temperatures on GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card gets and especially the modules featured on the back-side. Having denser capacities modules will mean that NVIDIA could feature all the modules on the front side of the PCB (12 modules in total) which will yield slightly lower PCB and memory temperatures. The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti won't be the only card getting these higher density modules as the rumor also mentions the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get a similar 2GB module treatment. Having 21 Gbps memory chips would essentially give the card up to 1 TB/s of bandwidth. As for the launch, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is expected to launch in January along with the RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB. Expect the pricing of the 3090 Ti to be just as insane as its specifications.

A new Tales of Arise online survey launched by Bandai Namco suggests that more series remasters could be coming in the future. The survey, which can be found here, asks users which game they would like to play a remastered version of. The options include multiple entries in the series, like the very first one, Tales of Phantasia, Tales of the Abyss, and Tales of Xillia 1 and 2. Additionally, the survey asks which Tales games the user would like to see released in Europe. Among the options are Tales of Destiny, Tales of Destiny 2, Tales of Rebirth, Tales of Legendia, which never made it to Europe officially on PlayStation 2, and Tales of Innocence, likely referring to the PlayStation Vita remake only available in Japan. With Tales of Arise being so successful worldwide, it is not surprising to learn that Bandai Namco may keep the momentum up with new remasters. As the publisher is asking players for their opinions on the matter, however, we will probably not see any of them until some time. Tales of Arise is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One worldwide. Learn more about the game by checking out my review. Being faithful while managing to innovate some of the series' staples is Tales of Arise's greatest achievement. Although it's only the combat mechanics that do feel different, Bandai Namco has done a terrific job addressing some of the criticism of previous entries in the series, laying a solid groundwork for future innovations. At the end of the day, Tales of Arise may not be the best entry in the series, but it gets quite close to it.

Samsung Galaxy A13 4G specifications have surfaced on the Web. The new Samsung phone is said to have quad rear cameras and come in a plastic build. Although Samsung has not yet made an announcement about the new model, the Galaxy A13 4G production is said to be started at the company's facility in India. Samsung Galaxy A13 4G is speculated to be in the works alongside its 5G variant that is already a part of the rumour mill. Citing people familiar with the development, 91Mobiles reports that the Samsung Galaxy A13 4G production has started at the company's Greater Noida factory. The phone is said to have a plastic rear panel with a glossy finish. On the specifications part, Samsung Galaxy A13 4G is said to have a vertically aligned quad rear camera setup and a USB Type-C port. The phone would also come with a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio output. It looks like NVIDIA's most entry-level Ampere graphics card, the GeForce RTX 3050, isn't planned for launch until 2022. In new information revealed by Videocardz, it is stated that the RTX 3050 is going to launch close to mid-2022 and will tackle AMD's entry-level Navi 24 and Intel's DG2-128 parts. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 To Launch In Q2 2022 & Rumored To Be Faster Than GTX 1660 SUPER, But Will It Be Enough To Tackle AMD's Navi 24 & Intel's DG2-128 GPUs? While the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 (Ti) for laptops rocks the Ampere GA107 GPU core, the RTX 3050 for desktops is said to feature the Ampere GA106 GPU core. Previously, there have been a series of reports that the RTX 3050 series would include two variants, a Ti and a non-Ti part. The non-TI part was expected to feature the GA107 GPU while the Ti SKU was expected to feature a GA106 GPU configuration. However, the latest report suggests that even the Non-Ti variant will feature a GA106 GPU which means it should end up with much higher performance than the Ti variant for laptops. Coming to the specifications, there are reports of an NVIDIA GA106-150 GPU for the 'PG190 SKU 70' board being cooked up. The GA106-150 GPU allegedly features 3072 CUDA cores in 24 SM units. It is also reported that the card might end up with 8 GB GDDR6 memory which gives it a big memory advantage over AMD and Intel entry-level parts. The card is expected to offer performance faster than the GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER but will be slower than the RTX 2060 12 GB variant which also launches in the coming weeks. Based on these performance figures, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 is going to be competitive against AMD's Navi 24 (Radeon RX 6500 / Radeon RX 6400) and Intel's DG2-128 (ARC Alchemist) graphics cards which launch next year too. What will be interesting is to see whether prices can be maintained for these budget tier cards though we shouldn't keep our hopes high as supply issues aren't expected to be resolved till 2023. One reason why NVIDIA could have delayed the RTX 3050 so much could be that they don't want to mess things up in the entry-level market with jacked up prices and to offer an intermediate solution, they have refreshed the RTX 2060 with 12 GB till GPU prices and supply get slightly better than what they are now.

Yesterday rumors emerged that Amazon, hot of the success of their new Wheel of Time series, is aiming to get into sci-fi with a Mass Effect series and reaction from fans has been mixed. Some are some excited, some are skeptical, and surprisingly, a former BioWare lead writer is in the latter camp. David Gaider mostly worked on the Dragon Age series while at BioWare, but his recent Twitter comments apply to all BioWare franchises and really cut to the core of why video game adaptations so rarely work… David Gaider @davidgaider I'm relieved to see that the Mass Effect/Amazon deal is for a potential TV series and not a movie. Even so, the possibility (and likewise for Dragon Age) makes me cringe just a little, unlike many fans who appear... excited? Let me explain. (Thread)For starters, ME and DA have a custom protagonist. Meaning said TV show will need to pick whether said protagonist will be male or female. Boom, right off the bat you've just alienated a whole bunch of the built-in fan base who had their hopes up.Secondly, those protagonists are designed to be a bit of a blank slate, one that the player fills out with their decisions. That's not going to work for a passive medium. So, suddenly, the protagonist will have their own personality... and their own *story*. That will be weird. You think I'm wrong? Consider just how MUCH of the story is off-loaded onto the companions. They are the cyphers through which the player gets most of their emotional engagement from. On their own, the DA and ME protagonists are... well, pretty boring. That's not going to fly.And think of those companions. Think of how MUCH the fanbase is attached to them. Now consider the fact that there is no way in hell any single story could encompass them all equally. Think of the howls of rage when companion X is relegated to a cameo... or not there at all. And think of those companions. Think of how MUCH the fanbase is attached to them. Now consider the fact that there is no way in hell any single story could encompass them all equally. Think of the howls of rage when companion X is relegated to a cameo... or not there at all.And that's IF the TV show makers consider the companions to be all that important. They might toss most of them aside in favor of the PLOT. In my mind, that would be a mistake. Both ME's and DA's plots were, at best, serviceable. And I don't mean that in a derogatory way. Those plots had to take into account the player's agency. They were kind of the shell upon which that player's emotional engagement was delivered -- usually through the companions and the choices themselves. Choice heightened engagement. Interactivity was the star, not the plot.Take all that out, lose most of the companions, and you potentially end up with... a pretty run-of-the-mill fantasy or science-fiction show, one where a lot of the built-in audience has possibly been turned into outraged, howling malcontents before it's even released. All that is, of course, if the DA or ME series is mishandled. I can think of any number of ways it could be done better... but that involves doing more than a strict adaptation, and that comes with its own complications. Anyhow, good luck to the showrunners. They'll need it! Well, I can’t really argue with any of that! Again, what Gaider says pretty much applies to any video game adaptation – with few exceptions, their worlds just fall apart without direct engagement from the player. Is there a way to do a compelling Mass Effect TV show? Sure, but it’s going have to get past the “I’d rather just be playing Mass Effect” roadblock like every video game adaptation. What do you think? Would you tune in (or, uh, hit the play button) for a Mass Effect show?

Analyst firm Gartner has advised its customers what to do about Windows 11: get familiar with it and plan for eventual adoption, but don't rush to implement. In advice titled "Positioning Windows 11 and Preparing to Deploy", Gartner research vice president Stephen Kleynhans assesses the new OS as offering an "overdue facelift" and praises new features such as the new Microsoft Store, Android app support, and ditching Internet Explorer. But Kleynhans also opined "All of these capabilities could have been released as just another feature update for Windows 10". The new name, he suggests, is about creating buzz rather than marking important change. By calling it Windows 11, he opines, Microsoft “has created a marketing opportunity for the PC ecosystem."A new OS version acts as a rallying point for the industry – something that has been missing since Windows 10 launched six years ago."Turning Windows up to 11 also found approval from Kleynhans because he feels "the move to the Windows-as-a-service model with Windows 10 had left the question of support for outdated hardware somewhat unclear and arbitrary". Renaming Windows – even if the upgrade isn't worthy of a new moniker – means Microsoft gained "an opportunity to establish a new more modern baseline and limit this legacy burden, without impacting existing Windows 10 users".Kleynhans rates Windows 11's most significant change as its new cadence of annual feature updates, compared to Windows 10's twice-yearly releases. "This model more closely matches what most enterprises are effectively doing with Windows 10 feature updates today," he wrote. The analyst doesn't think you need to rush into Windows 11.Kleynhans recommends just two immediate actions for business. One is creation of a timeline for evaluation of and migration to Windows 11, with testing to start in the first half of 2022. The other is to conduct limited tests among folk in your IT and ops teams."Enterprises should run small pilots in 2022 using the initial Windows 11 21H2 release, to develop familiarity with the new UX and understand potential user and support impact," he suggests. If you're not already using unified endpoint management, the analyst suggests adopting it should be on your short-term to-do list, too. It'll be needed to manage Windows 11."Once the 22H2 update ships, begin serious evaluation using the same tools and processes used for Windows 10 feature updates," he adds.Kleynhans doesn't expect rapid mass adoption."By early 2023, less than ten per cent of new enterprise PCs will be deployed with Windows 11," he suggests. ®

Intel’s Alder Lake processors are just around the corner, and team blue plans to take the gaming CPU scene by storm. However, while the i9-12900K is Intel’s next poster child, newly leaked benchmarks suggest that the company’s top-tier i7 offering isn’t far off in terms of single-core performance.According to CPUZ tests conducted by Tum Apisak, the Alder Lake i7-12700K scores 800 single-thread points, while also achieving a multi-thread score of 9,423 points. In similar tests, the i9-12900K surpasses the i7’s MT score by a large margin, with 11,900 points, but only achieves 25 points more when it comes to single-thread performance. So, while the i9’s illustrious number of cores helps the processor reign supreme, it’s not always going to leave its generational counterpart in the dust completely. That said, while the new i7 runs rings around both Rocket Lake and AMD’s Ryzen 5000 series, it’s still no match for the Ryzen 9 5900X. So, while Intel’s middleweight contender can throw a decent single-thread punch, it looks like it won’t quite snag AMD’s title belt. It’s worth noting that Tum Apisak’s screenshots fail to mention any specific CPU specifications, such as any overclocking or modifications used during testing. Therefore, out of the box results for the chip could produce different results. Providing the leaker’s test scores are accurate, the i7-12700K could hold its own against its i9 sibling, especially regarding specific gaming PC performance and single-thread tasks.

Chipmaker AMD has reported that some of its silicon lucky enough to have made the cut for Windows 11 is having difficulty with the new OS.While not yet listed on Microsoft's known issues dashboard for Windows 11, AMD has come out and said that there's a performance penalty when running "certain applications."The first issue is a potential three-times jump in L3 cache latency. Helpfully, AMD provided a clearer explanation: "Applications sensitive to memory subsystem access time may be impacted." In practice, this is expected to result in a performance impact of between 3 and 5 per cent. Not so bad, until one considers "outliers" such as "games commonly used for eSports" where an impact of up to 15 per cent is possible. Less than ideal for the performance-obsessed gamer po[CENSORED]tion.Anyway, it's not like Microsoft ever bragged about how great Windows 11 was for gaming. Also not going to plan was functionality to schedule threads on a processor's fastest core, the impact of which would be felt more on CPUs with more than eight cores above 65W TDP (Thermal Design Power). "Applications sensitive to the performance of one or a few CPU threads," explained AMD, "may exhibit reduced performance." Software and Windows updates are in the works to address both issues, and AMD said it was "actively investigating" the problems with Microsoft. Resolution is expected at some point in October. In the meantime, AMD recommended customers affected hold off from that Windows 11 upgrade. As for which of its CPUs are actually hit, it simply said: "AMD and Microsoft have determined that compatible AMD processors may exhibit reduced performance in certain applications" and linked to a list of pretty much every bit of AMD silicon Microsoft had deigned to permit Windows 11 to run on. ®

While there’s no word yet of a Rainbow Six Siege Year 6 Season 4 release date, some details appear to be emerging ahead of its arrival. A dataminer has shared some info that could give us a good idea of the FPS game’s next operator – and it sounds like they’re going to be a real mix of Rainbow Six Siege operators Kapkan and Ela. Dataminer Benjaminstrike, who previously correctly indicated Flores’ arrival and gear and Year Six Season 1’s name, Crimson Heist, ahead of time, has posted some info about Siege’s new Year 6 Season 4 op. on Twitter. First up, it sounds like she – yep, it looks like she’ll be a female character – is a defender. This season’s operator Osa is an attacker, so having a defender inbound makes sense as that’ll help keep the roster balanced. It also appears she’ll be called Thorn, going by another of the dataminer’s posts (below), which additionally reveals some details about her gadget and playstyle. The new operator will have a “throwable proximity-activated gadget called the Razorbloom Shell” which will stick to any surface, the dataminer says. When an attacking op. triggers its sensor this shell turns red and, after a short delay, “explodes into many high-velocity projectiles”, with damage dealt being based on proximity to its blast radius.Further to this, Benjaminstrike explains that Thorn will carry multiple Razorbloom Shells as part of her gadget, so it appears she’ll get multiple opportunities to use them in each game. Based on these nuggets of information, it sounds like this new defender could well be a mashup of Ela – whose own gadget is both throwable and proximity-based – and Kapkan, who has fixed explosives that attach to doors, in her playstyle.Naturally, this is all completely unconfirmed by developer-publisher Ubisoft for now, so it’ll be worth keeping a weather eye on the game’s social media channels and blog if you’re keen to find out what’s definitely on the way with Year 6 Season 4 (which Benjaminstrike has previously indicated is called High Calibre – though, as with all of the above, that’s far from confirmed right now). Hopefully it won’t be too long before we hear the official word on what’s in store for Siege’s next season. Right now there’s some new information about what’s coming with Siege’s Y6S3.3 patch soon, which you can check out the test notes for at that link.

Microsoft has softened its stance on hardware requirements for Windows 11 by documenting a way to bypass them – though it warns against doing so and states that it is unsupported and will not be entitled to updates. The explanation was posted on the page about "ways to install Windows 11." It may be that Microsoft always intended this, but it also follows intense feedback from users frustrated or annoyed at not being able to upgrade to the latest Windows. When Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella posted on LinkedIn about the "start of a new generation of Windows," comments included "My 2015 iPad is capable of running the latest iOS. Meanwhile, Microsoft has chosen to obsolete hardware that's only 2-3 years old. Ludicrous," and "This entails a significant effort in production which also comes at the worst time due to supply chain shortages." The bypass is easy: one registry setting called "AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU". Once set, users can run the Media Creation Tool to create an ISO. It is then possible to mount the ISO with a right-click on the same PC and run setup from there to upgrade while keeping installed applications and documents. There are limitations, one of which is that TPM 1.2 is still needed, revealing that Windows 11 has hard as well as soft requirements. Microsoft's warnings are severe. A disclaimer explains that the installation "may result in compatibility issues" and that "your PC will no longer be supported and won't be entitled to receive updates" – though it seems that Microsoft envisages certain scenarios where the bypass may be a good idea, since the heading states "not recommended unless instructed by support."Exactly how this will play out is not clear, but some users have reported receiving updates on unsupported installations. Rather than intending to punish users with older hardware, it is more likely that Microsoft is covering itself against the possibility that some updates will not work. It would be a mistake to bypass the requirements on production systems that work well with Windows 10, or on hardware that is still under warranty. That said, there are cases where this might make sense, such as in virtual machines or physical PCs used for test and development. There is also a category of PCs that nearly meet Microsoft's requirements, such as those with 7th generation Intel processors and TPM 2.0, where the chances of success are higher – though, as Microsoft emphasises, it is at the user's risk if it does not work. Uninstall should be possible for up to 10 days after upgrade, but not thereafter. The reason this registry bypass key works is that Microsoft's system requirements for Windows 11 are more to do with ensuring a secure configuration and adequate performance than with enabling the operating system to run. Many of the security benefits in Windows 11 are also available in 10, but often not configured. Yesterday Microsoft posted its Windows 11 security baseline, the recommended minimum configuration for a secure system, intended to be applied automatically on business networks via Group Policy. We tried the upgrade on an elderly HP laptop that owes us nothing. Core i5 5200 and TPM 1.2, 8GB RAM, SSD drive. The upgrade took several hours but worked and performance is not noticeably different than it was with Windows 10. No blotches in device manager (which would indicate missing drivers). Windows update works and duly downloaded a security update after the upgrade. Windows 11 Pro is activated. There is a risk that at some point Microsoft will update Windows 11 in a manner that requires hardware features that this laptop lacks; the same can happen though with Windows 10, and for a non-critical PC this seems a viable solution, for those keen to try Windows 11 without purchasing a new PC.®

It seems like everyone is either currently playing New World or are stuck in long server queues to play Amazon Games’ new MMO, with it now being the fifth-biggest Steam game of all time by concurrent player count. However, troubling new reports are emerging on the game’s subreddit of it bricking players’ GPUs despite the developer previously insisting that it is “safe to play” following similar reports that surfaced during the game’s beta. Previously, these issues seemed predominantly limited to Nvidia’s best graphics card, the RTX 3090, with a large portion of the blame directed towards soldering issues on EVGA branded cards. However, there are now multiple accounts of the game killing not only RTX 3090s, but also RTX 3080 Tis, RTX 3080s, RTX 3060 Tis, and even RTX 3000 laptop GPUs. Both EVGA and Gigabyte components have, again, been highlighted as particularly vulnerable to being fried.Amazon Games previously took steps to try and mitigate the issue during the beta through an fps limiter in the game’s menu. These new reports, however, suggest the problem is far from resolved, and we’ve reached out to Amazon Games for further comment. While the majority of reports we’ve found mainly concern Nvidia GPUs, some players using AMD GPUs have also encountered overheating and crashing issues. Users on the subreddit have suggested players implement their own fps limiter via tools such as Rivatuner Statistics Server, particularly given the prolonged high GPU usage that can occur while waiting in a server queue.Should you be unfortunate enough to have your graphics card die while this issue remains unresolved, we recommend contacting your card’s manufacturer for a potential replacement. However, if you’re lucky enough to be out of the server queue with GPU intact, you’ll find all tips and guidance you’ll need on New World’s fishing mechanics, the best places to find New World briar branches, and advice on which New World faction you should pick, should you wish to join your friends or pummel them into the ground, in our guides. Update: Amazon provided the following statement: “We have received a small number of reports of players encountering issues with GeForce RTX cards. After a lengthy investigation, we have verified that there is no unusual behavior from New World that causes these issues.EVGA has previously acknowledged manufacturing issues on some GeForce RTX cards. New World is safe to play, and we encourage players who have encountered a hardware issue to contact the manufacturer.”
