  1. Cha cha real smooth. Fortnite Chapter 3 has introduced a slide mechanic to help players get around the map (or at least down it) more quickly. With no explicit tutorial though, players are asking themselves how to slide in Fortnite. As you might expect, it's obnoxiously simple once you know what to do. Keep reading our guide below to learn how. Don't forget to also check out our Fortnite Chapter 3 guide for more info on battle pass skins, the new map, other gameplay changes, and more. To slide in Fortnite, you need to be running and press the crouch button. For PC players, the default is the CTRL key, but you may have changed it at some point in your key binding settings. Keep in mind that you can only slide down angled surfaces, like hills, mountains, or perhaps roofs. I've found it a bit harder to pull off a slide on a gentle slope as opposed to a sharper angle. Also, the default setting is that you have to hold the crouch button rather than a toggle. One option you can change is the "slide hold time" under the controller options section of the settings menu. This allows you to alter the amount of time you need to hold the crouch button before your character starts sliding (if applicable). That's it! You officially know how to slide in Fortnite, so get out there and get sliding like DJ Casper. link : https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/how-to-slide-in-fortnite/

  4. After years of struggle, Honda is tasting success in Formula 1 – yet once more it has decided to walk away from the front. We ponder why Since Formula 1’s V6 turbo hybrid era began in 2014, Mercedes-AMG has dominated the sport. It has been a frankly crushing display, with the squad having won seven straight drivers’ and constructors’ championship doubles. But that streak looks increasingly likely to end this year, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen on course to claim his first title. And a key contributor has been the Honda powerplant in the back of his RB16B. It’s an incredible turnaround in fortunes for Honda, which returned to the sport in 2015 through what was considered a dream reunion with McLaren – only to then struggle for both reliability and speed. Honda was left clinging to the grid through supplying Toro Rosso (now AlphaTauri) in 2018, which opened the door to a subsequent deal with the main Red Bull squad the following year. It was an alliance of necessity: Red Bull’s relationship with Renault had broken down and Mercedes and Ferrari were never viable options. But the two firms have since formed an incredibly potent union. Yet it’s an alliance that is already ending. Honda announced late last year that it would quit F1 at the end of this season, officially to focus its resources on the development of electric road car technology. “Regardless of whether this was our final season or not, we’ve just kept working very hard,” says Toyoharu Tanabe, Honda F1’s development guru. “We’ve been working hard every year since we started this programme. It’s a bit emotional. Knowing this is the last season for us is a little disappointing.” Even if he understands the corporate reasons for Honda’s decision, the tone of Tanabe’s voice suggests that knowing this is its final F1 season is somewhat more than a little disappointing. That’s partly because the rate of Honda’s progress since it teamed up with Red Bull has been incredible, including a huge leap for this season, despite cost-cutting rules introduced due to the pandemic limiting the scope of potential development. Revisions to F1’s chassis rules might have contributed to Mercedes-AMG losing some of its edge, but don’t discount the steps that Red Bull and Honda have taken. link : https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motorsport-news-f1/why-honda-leaving-f1-again
  5. Noted celebrity astrologer and prophesier Pandit Jagannath Guruji shares his thoughts on the love marriage hurdles for each sign and what can be done about them Marriage is a lifelong union of two individuals, who may have similar or contrasting likes, interests, habits and perspectives. The stakes get higher in love marriages, for the onus of the relationship lies with the partners only. It is no secret that going for a love marriage comes with its own set of hurdles. Noted celebrity astrologer and prophesier Pandit Jagannath Guruji shares his thoughts on these roadblocks, and what can be done about them. Aries Aries are passionate in relationships. The couples with Aries partners are likely to be competitive and challenging. On many occasions, these are the couples that make it to the list of power couples. People hailing from this zodiac sign can definitely go for love marriage, provided they are able to tackle the initial hurdles. There may be some unexpected problems like lack of family support. But if they are sincere, they should try to convince their family. They must not allow ego to come in the way of the conversation. The Taurus natives are mostly fond of relationships that are happy and stable. It is their lack of confidence that may appear as a hurdle in their love marriage. There can be some career-related problems that are causing doubts. They can be bogged down by the roadblocks, but what they need to do is strike a balance in their personal and professional lives. Taking some time out to seek adventure can help. Gemini Those hailing from this zodiac sign are known to have good communication skills. On most occasions, a Gemini partner ensures the relationship both before and after marriage is full of laughter. Those who are looking at settling in a love marriage need to brace themselves for some problems that are outside their relationship, but could actually make an adverse impact. The root cause of the problem is that they are not able to concentrate on career and anything related to their business. They tend to ignore the other while they focus on one thing. They need to concentrate on both equally. Cancer The prospects of Cancer natives succeeding in their tryst for love marriage are very bleak. There is a certain lack of emotional support between the partners, which is actually jeopardising the relationship. These people need to give time to themselves, and should also put more focus and support each other as couple. ALSO READ |Sunday Zodiac: Signs that will be romantic today Leo The people hailing from this zodiac sign are full of passion. There is no dearth of drama in the relationship as well. The communication problem between the couple and the timing problem that the partners face constitute the main hurdle in love marriage. They need to immediately focus on specific problems and start resolving them one by one. Virgo While the Virgo natives would not find any major roadblock while going for the love marriage, there might the emergence of some troubles post the wedding. Many of the Virgo people tend to have a very easy-go-lucky attitude in life, which might not be very likable to their partner and also lead lack of focus on the relationship. The only solution is to shift the focus back to the relationship. Libra When a Libra person is in a relationship with someone, they make sure the two form a couple that is completely balanced in terms of emotion, goal reaching and career. As such there is no hurdle in love marriage. Though, there might be some career-related issues; it won’t affect their personal life. Each partner can help the other grow in career. Scorpio The marriage of the Scorpio natives would be full of lot of passion and romance. A few years down the line, there would be some issues in the married life. Their relationship would be in a stage that can neither be considered good nor bad. The solution is to give time as well as space to each partner. Sagittarius Sagittarius is destined to lead a fun-filled life with their partners. There will be lot of excitement and positive energy between the couple. They, however, majorly lack effective management of their time, and this might appear to be a roadblock in their love marriage. They should probably plan an outing with their partner, so that they can assure them of better time management. Capricorn It is always tough for the Capricorn people to keep up in a relationship. The major issue that adversely impacts their relationship is their zeal to focus only on work. Another hurdle that could come in love marriage is that at times they might be extremely good and intermittently very bad with their partner. To keep themselves calm and positive and strengthen the chances of love marriage, they need to have a great time with themselves. Pisces They dream a lot and they very much like being part of a romantic relationship. 6. The US and a host of allied countries have called on the Taliban to end the targeted killings of former members of Afghan security forces. In a joint statement, the 22 nations demanded that the Islamist regime respect its pledge not to harm former government or security personnel. "We are deeply concerned by reports of summary killings and enforced disappearances", the statement says. It follows a damning report on killings and abductions by the Islamist regime. Released by the Human Rights Watch earlier this week, the report documented more than 100 executions and abductions of former Afghan government officials since the Taliban took control of the country almost four months ago. It also documented the murder of 47 members of the Afghan security forces who surrendered to, or were captured by, the Taliban between 15 August and 31 October. This is despite the regime's assurance that previous government workers would not be harmed. The short joint statement was issued by the US and signed by the UK, European Union and a further 19 countries. It outlined their deep concerns over the report's findings and called on all cases of extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances to be fully investigated. REPORT: Dozens of former forces killed by Taliban VOICES: A year of violence on the road to peace "We will continue to measure the Taliban by their actions," the statement concluded. There have been many instances of the Taliban's actions contradicting what they have pledged, and previous humanitarian reports have also revealed targeted killings. In August a report published by Amnesty International found that 300 Taliban fighters travelled to an area near Dahani Qul village on 30 August, where former government soldiers were staying with their families. The report says the fighters executed nine of the soldiers after they had already surrendered, two more died in the crossfire and a further two civilians were also killed during the fighting that ensued, including a 17-year-old girl. link : https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-59536522

  9. The idea behind using these robotic couriers was to minimise last-mile delivery costs. Traffic jams usually happen on roads meant for motorised vehicles. It's unusual for a pedestrian sidewalk to get jammed by automated cars, simply because they are not meant to take the route. But this is exactly what has happened in Estonia. Heavy snowfall has led the pedestrian sidewalk to get crowded by a number of automated vehicles stuck randomly. Only the difference here is these vehicles are not big cars or gigantic trucks. These are tiny robotic courier trucks that are finding it immensely difficult to overcome the weight of the snow that has covered the sidewalk. The scene is amusing. In 2017, the Estonian parliament adopted legislation to allow delivery robots on its pedestrian sidewalks. All was good until a heavy snowfall threw the idea out of the window. Now, these trucks line up the sidewalk in the Estonian capital Tallinn. A Twitter user has shared a video that showed how the innovation failed spectacularly. The video showed seven of these tiny robotic trucks stuck on the sidewalk. Some of these tried to move through the snow but they could not. The 21-second clip has already received around 200,000 views and several comments. These robots move at a speed of up to 6kmph and are equipped with sensors, cameras, or other means to gain information about their surroundings. The idea behind using these robotic couriers is to minimise the last-mile delivery costs. But, obviously, the planners did not factor in heavy snowfall in Estonia. link : https://gadgets.ndtv.com/internet/news/robot-courier-trucks-snowfall-estonia-video-2636862
  10. To iron out the kinks, WordPress launches beta for version 5.9 A new version of WordPress that's currently under development, WordPress 5.9, is now available in beta for testing purposes. Given WordPress 5.9 Beta 1 is not a stable release, the developers recommend tests should be carried out on test websites rather than live sites, in case any issues reveal themselves. WordPress has released a set of detailed instructions for users to follow in order to carry out the test successfully. The final version of WordPress 5.9 is scheduled for release on January 25, 2022. WordPress 5.9 Beta 1 testing With eight weeks left until the software goes live, WordPress has developed three different ways for users to test WordPress 5.9 Beta 1 on their sites. The first option is to install and activate the WordPress Beta Tester plugin, select the “Bleeding edge” channel and “Beta/RC Only” stream. The second way is to directly download the beta version, and the third way is to use WP-CLI to test: wp core update --version=5.9-beta1. However, the third option is not advised for filesystems that are case-insensitive. WordPress said in a blog post that the main reason for these tests is to polish the release in the beta stage. The release already contains 580 enhancements and nearly 450 bug fixes, and contributors have addressed 297 tickets for WordPress 5.9 so far, including 110 new features and enhancements. This latest WordPress version will also introduce WordPress’ very first block-based default theme, Twenty Twenty-Two. “It’s the very first theme that’s block based and needs thorough testing as a result,” said a WordPress contributor in the detailed guide. WordPress also dished out extra tips for those who want to participate in testing the new version on their sites, which include testing across different browsers, testing in different languages, and seeing what the new features look like on different screen sizes. link : https://www.techradar.com/news/you-can-now-test-wordpress-59-before-its-official-release
  11. Azza's Regis 902 chassis unveiled. After first emerging in the 1970s, personal computers have taken almost every shape and form possible. There are towers and clamshells; there are all-in-ones and 2-in-1s. Yet, Cubes have not gained traction in the mainstream market for some reason. But how about a flying cube design? What if we throw in an infinity mirror with RGB effects? Apparently, this is what the Azza Regis 902 chassis is all about. The main selling point of the Azza Regis 902 chassis is, of course, its infinity mirror panel with addressable RGB LEDs and appropriate effect that makes the case look like it is infinitely empty. However, it's just an illusion as plenty is going on inside. The Azza Regis 902 PC case accepts an ATX motherboard and a 336-mm long graphics card (up to a GeForce RTX 3090 FE). It can also accommodate a 210-mm tall CPU cooler, two 2.5-inch drives, a 3.5-inch HDD, an ATX standard power supply, and six PWM fans (one comes pre-installed). That looks like enough to power quite a workstation. The aluminum cube chassis features three tempered glass and two anodized aluminum panels. It also sits on a CNC-milled 8-mm aluminum stand, making it look like a flying cube. Well, a flying cube that has audio connectors, two USB 3.0 Type-A, and a USB Type-C port on one of its sides. "The exterior is complemented with black tinted tempered glass panels and two brushed aluminum mesh panels with a touch of gold trim on the edges," the manufacturer's description of the PC case reads. But all fine and stylish things come at a price. The Azza Regis 902 is available for pre-order at $399.99 from Amazon and Newegg. link : https://www.tomshardware.com/news/azza-unveils-regis-902-pc-case
  12. Slice of Sea’s beautiful and soothing façade hides a prickly adventure from the Flash era. I grew up playing point-and-click adventures, cutting my teeth on Sierra's crushingly cruel quests before settling down with Lucasarts' more freewheeling romps, but I would never consider myself an expert at the genre. New adventure game Slice of Sea reminded me why: There are evolutionary branches of the adventure game that my brain is just not made for, and this game is a direct descendant of a particularly demanding and thorny lineage. Slice of Sea is the latest hand-painted puzzle adventure from prolific comic author and indie developer Mateusz Skutnik, who's been releasing games since the Flash era. Most notable are the thirteen adventures in his Submachine series and the eight Daymare Town games. These escape room-esque adventures were defined by their detached and lonely vibes. Aside from the occasional scrawled note and item name to nudge players in the right direction, progress came purely through poking and prodding at strange devices across multiple screens, intuiting their connections and purpose. There were no cruel and sudden deaths to suffer, but progress required your intuition to line up with the developer’s intent. Slice of Sea initially appears to be different. Players control Seaweed, a little oceanic gremlin piloting a pair of Wallace & Gromit-esque techno-trousers. Using the arrow keys (or WASD) you can steer them through a gorgeous watercolour world on a wordlessly-told pilgrimage to return to the ocean. Seaweed can’t do much by themselves, so it’s up to you to click on the world to interact with its many objects and machines. The biggest twist in Slice of Sea’s point-and-click adventuring is that despite having a character on-screen and an inventory of items, there’s no physical restrictions on what you can interact with. Seaweed standing on one rock pillar and an item you need sitting on another, nowhere within reach? Doesn’t matter. Click and the item just blinks into your inventory, ready to use anywhere. What a lovely path it is, too. A softly shaded and beautifully illustrated set of scenes, the world of Slice of Sea is fragmented and crumbling, dusty and desolate but not abandoned. There are pockets of civilization and strange people of many species seemingly disinterested in an ambulatory frond of sea flora bounding past, as if this is just a daily occurrence. A seemingly sealed train car half-buried under a sand dune might contain a passenger engrossed in a book, nonplussed at your arrival. There’s this constant sense that this world—its very laws of physics fraying at the edges—is just doing its own thing as you pass through to somewhere else. If the intent is for the player to linger on each screen and fully absorb what they see, then it’s reinforced—or forced, really—by constant, repetitive pixel-hunting. Interactable buttons and objects are often just a dusting of pixels wide, even on my massive curved monitor. Optional collectibles (for achievements, mostly) are even more hidden, often appearing camouflaged on distant foreground or background items. I frequently found myself sweeping my cursor back and forth, looking for it to change shape for a moment, indicating that I’d brushed something usable. Even with steady progress and the occasional peek at a video walkthrough, Slice of Sea took me a whole day to finish, and if I’d not had someone else’s notes to crib from it would have taken far longer. My brain was screaming for a hint; a line of dialogue to tell me what is or isn’t working or just a button to highlight interactable objects and room exits. And yet if Slice of Sea handed me any of those things it would lose its identity as a descendant of the Submachine and Daymare Town games. It would no longer be part of the legacy of Flash adventure gaming. It would no longer be Slice of Sea. While Seaweed's journey was more of an uphill struggle than I’d expected, I still enjoyed my time with Slice of Sea, even if I did have to turn to others for assistance. Its world is sumptuous and every new screen is a lushly illustrated treat—an intrinsic reward for progress. Every complaint I could level at it could be considered a positive by fans of Skutnik’s earlier works. I wish I’d enjoyed it as much as I think they will. This is a treat for people who spent hours patiently puzzling their way through the Submachine series, with detail-oriented minds and eagle-sharp eyes. As frustrating as my experience with it sometimes was, Slice of Sea really is a treat for the eyes and ears. Seaweed’s adventure took me on a tour of a strange and fascinating twilight world, crumbling to dust but still full of life. It was also a reminder that the point-and-click adventure genre is a bigger, more varied place now than ever, filled with interesting mutations in game design. If you’ve the patience for it, don’t mind a little pixel-hunting and (ideally) cut your teeth on the unforgiving Flash era of escape rooms, Slice of Sea is easy to recommend, and it's out now on Itch.io and Steam for $24.99/£19.49. But if like me you found solace in Lucasarts’ easygoing puzzle design, perhaps pass on this trip to the beach. Some sandcastles are best observed from a distance. link : https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/slice-of-sea-wants-you-to-point-and-click-every-inch-of-its-hand-illustrated-landscapes/
  13. Financial Times reveals the government has offered Rivian a new motorway junction, rail link and training facilities The UK government has offred a series of incentives to EV manufacturer Rivian in an effort to encourage the US start-up to build a new factory near Bristol in Somerset. According to the Financial Times, which cites people familiar with negotiations, the government has offered to build a new M5 motorway junction, develop training facilities and reinstate a disused railway line at the Gravity business park near Bristol, where Rivian could invest £1 billion in a new factory. The FT reports that the UK is in competition with Serbia and "at least one other European country" to secure Rivian's investment and a decision could come within several weeks. The site also reports that government officials have been in discussions with Rivian executives in recent days and that Rivian's approval would be a significant boost for prime minister Boris Johnson's 'Levelling Up' development plans. Johnson is said to be "closely involved" in the talks, as are executives from Amazon, which holds a substantial stake in Rivian and has committed to buying 100,000 of its electric vans. It is not yet confirmed whether Rivian would build batteries, vehicles or both at the site. Rivian's car line-up comprises the technically identical R1T pick-up truck and R1S SUV from launch. Sat atop a bespoke, skateboard-style platform, the duo are said to offer a maximum range of more than 400 miles, a 0-60mph time of just 3.0sec and impressive off-road ability. They will be priced from the equivalent of £48,500 in the US and it could reasonably be expected for European versions to roughly maintain that pricing structure if localised production is secured. Given that large SUVs and trucks are far less in demand in Europe than in the US, though, it could be more likely that the factory would build local-spec versions of Rivian's bespoke Amazon delivery van. News of Rivian's potential plans for a UK-based production outpost comes shortly after Nissan announced plans to drastically upgrade and futureproof its Sunderland factory with a dedicated battery facility and a new production line for a new electric crossover. Stellantis also recently provided a boost for UK manufacturing with the announcement that the long-uncertain future of its Ellesmere Port facility had been secured: it will now build small electric vans for Citroën, Peugeot and Vauxhall. If Bristol is chosen as the final location, Rivian's factory will only be around an hour from the ex-Honda factory in Swindon, which closed earlier this year. Notably, the Bristol site in question has previously been linked to Tesla. link : https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/business-tech%2C-development-and-manufacturing/report-uk-government-offers-rivian-incentives

  15. An Italian man who wanted a Covid vaccination certificate without getting the jab turned up for his vaccine with a fake arm, officials say. The man, in his 50s, arrived for his shot with a silicone mould covering his real arm, hoping it would go unnoticed. But a nurse was not fooled and the man has now been reported to the police. The nurse told local media that when she had rolled up his sleeve, she found the skin "rubbery and cold" and the pigment "too light". After being discovered, the man tried to persuade the nurse to turn a blind eye, la Repubblica reported. But instead she reported him to the police for fraud. Local police are now investigating the incident in Biella, north-west Italy, and local officials have criticised the man's actions. "The case borders on the ridiculous, if it were not for the fact we are talking about a gesture of enormous gravity," the head of the Piedmont regional government, Albert Cirio, said in a statement on Facebook. He said the ploy was "unacceptable faced with the sacrifice that our entire community has paid during the pandemic, in terms of human lives, the social and economic cost". La Repubblica suggests the incident may not have been a one-off, pointing to a message on social media that may have been written by the man. The Twitter post quoted by the paper featured a silicone male chest half-body suit, complete with fake arms and neck, that was on sale on Amazon for €488 (£416). "If I go with this, will they notice? Maybe beneath the silicone I'll even put on some extra clothes to avoid the needle reaching my real arm," the Twitter user reportedly wrote. The incident comes ahead of a tightening of the rules in Italy for those who have not been vaccinated. Since August, Italians have needed a Covid "green pass" - showing proof of vaccination, a negative test or recovery from the virus - to access train stations, cinemas, restaurants, gyms and swimming pools. But from Monday, these activities will be restricted to those with a "super green pass", which is only available to those who have been vaccinated or recently recovered from Covid. Covid vaccines: How fast is worldwide progress? Covid map: Where are cases the highest? The vaccine pass rules have prompted protests in several Italian cities in recent weeks. Just over 73% of Italians are fully vaccinated against Covid - higher than in France or the UK, but lower than in Spain and Portugal. link : https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-59524527

Realme 9i renders have been spotted online, giving smartphone enthusiasts an idea of what to expect from the handset that is tipped to launch in Q1 2022. The Realme 9i smartphone is yet to be confirmed by the Chinese company, but the concept renders suggest that the successor to the Realme 8i smartphone, could sport familiar elements, including the rear camera module that looks similar to the one found on the Realme GT Neo 2 flagship smartphone. The Realme 9i renders shared by ThePixel.vn (in Vietnamese) suggest the upcoming smartphone could feature a triple rear camera setup with an LED flash, located in a camera module that looks similar to the Realme GT Neo 2 smartphone. The back of the handset also shows minimal branding in the form of the Realme logo at the bottom left corner of the screen. The render shows a single speaker at the bottom, located to the right of the USB Type-C port. The rear section of the phone appears to have curved edges that blend into the left and right spine of the phone. According to the renders, there is no fingerprint scanner located on the back of the smartphone. This suggests that it could be located on the power button, or that the company could include an in-display scanner. On the front of the handset is a punch-hole camera located in the top-right corner of the screen. Realme 9i Tipped to Launch in January With MediaTek Helio G90T Previous reports have tipped the Realme 9i to feature a MediaTek Helio G90T SoC along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone is also expected to sport a 6.5-inch full-HD+ display along with a 64-megapixel quad camera setup. However, the company has not yet announced any details about the Realme 9i. Realme 9i is expected to feature upgraded specifications over its predecessor, the Realme 8i, that was launched by the company in September. Realme 8i is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G96 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Realme 8i comes with a 6.6-inch full-HD+ (1,080x2,412 pixels) display. The smartphone is equipped with a 64-megapixel rear camera setup, along with a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. Realme 8i runs on a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. link : https://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/news/realme-9i-renders-specifications-triple-camera-display-fingerprint-sensor-2634529
  18. Tweaking away Since launching a few months ago, Windows 11 has had a bit of a mixed reception, with several bugs – and even deliberate design decisions – annoying users. Now it looks like Microsoft is looking to address some of these issues. As The Verge reports, a new update that’s rolling out to Windows Insiders – users who’ve signed up to help test early versions of Windows – has added the clock and date to the taskbar on multiple monitors. Many users who have more than one monitor had complained that the date and time wasn’t shown on the taskbar in their secondary monitors – only the main one. This may sound like a small complaint, but it annoyed a lot of people. It led some to use third-party apps to bring the time and date back, but now it looks like Microsoft will be including an official option to add time and date info to multiple monitors. Sponsored Links tart me up The Verge also reports that a new Insider build – it's not clear if the update and the new build are the same thing – is tweaking the Windows 11 Start menu, giving users more configuration options regarding pinned app shortcuts and recommendations. The Start menu is one of the most-used elements of Windows, which means people can be very protective over it. Any changes Microsoft makes to how it works could annoy a lot of people – which is what happened with Windows 8 – and Windows 11 also brought some unwelcome changes. The Settings app has also been expanded to offer more options that you’d usually find in Control Panel, including network discovery and printer sharing. This is part of Microsoft’s ambition to phase out Control Panel, which has been a part of Windows since Windows 1.0 back in 1985, and replace it with the modern Settings app. Of course, removing a feature that some people have been using for 36 years could once again cause friction between Microsoft and its customers. It’ll need to proceed with caution – which it appears to be doing with the slow migration of tools from Control Panel to the Settings app. Analysis: righting wrongs When Windows 11 launched, a number of changes the operating system made over its predecessor, Windows 10, frustrated many users. To Microsoft’s credit, it has been listening to feedback, and for some of its more controversial changes, it's added options that allow users to revert to the way things worked in Windows 10. This is undoubtedly a good thing, as it gives users more choice as to how they use Windows 11, rather than just undoing any changes; after all, there will be some people who like the changes Windows 11 brings. There’s still work to be done, however. Some of Windows 11’s most annoying – and baffling – changes, such as the inability to drag and drop app shortcuts onto the taskbar, have yet to be addressed, though it does appear that Microsoft is working on a solution to that. As we observed in our Windows 11 review, the new operating system feels like a work in progress, and that's a positive thing. So if there’s something about Windows 11 you don’t like, be patient, as Microsoft may look to change it in an upcoming update. link : https://www.techradar.com/news/hate-windows-11-microsoft-is-trying-to-fix-it
  19. Coming to a flagship Android phone near you. Qualcomm has unveiled its flagship SoC at its annual Tech Summit event. It’s the chip that will no doubt find its way into 2022 flagship Android devices. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the first SoC to bear Qualcomm’s new naming scheme. Gone are the former triple-digit names. It’s an all new design featuring the ARM v9 instruction set. Qualcomm believes the new CPU is up to 20% faster than the one in the Snapdragon 888 while consuming 30% less power. The Adreno GPU looks impressive too with a promised 30% performance boost alongside a 25% power saving. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Is built on a cutting edge 4nm process. The eight-core Kryo CPU features a hybrid architecture with a single 3.0 GHz Cortex-X2 core, three Cortex-A710 cores at 2.5 GHz and four Cortex-A510 cores at 1.8 GHz. Qualcomm was less forthcoming regarding the specifics of the GPU, but it’s a sure bet that this is the SoC that will find its way into high end gaming smartphones. The chip includes a host of upgrades including a 5G modem capable of up to 10Gbps speeds along with up to 3.6Gbps Wi-Fi 6E support and various security upgrades. The image signal processor has been improved, with the new 18-bit processor better able to capture and process 4K video, and it introduces 8K capturing for the first time. Those ultra expensive 8K TVs need some content to show them off so that is welcome. On paper, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 looks fast, power efficient and has a lot of great connectivity, but it's the gaming performance and options we’re particularly interested in. New features include the Adreno Frame Motion Engine which Qualcomm claims can “generate more frames, run at double the frame rate, without increasing power consumption” which sounds like it could be some kind of supersampling. Also new to this generation is volumetric rendering which will help developers deliver more realistic lighting effects. Then there’s the so-called Variable Rate Shading Pro. Qualcomm is partnering with game developers to ensure their games support the new features of the chip. We can expect to see the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 phones to be announced as soon as this month, with many more to come in 2022. Of course, the competition never sits still with Apple expected to release its competing A16 SoC to power the next generation iPhone. Qualcomm has big plans beyond the mobile space. It’s gone so far as to claim that the days of x86 are numbered. If the future of the PC is ARM, then chips like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 are definitely worth keeping an eye on. link : https://www.pcgamer.com/qualcomms-snapdragon-8-gen-1-soc-looks-set-to-dramatically-boost-mobile-gaming-performance/
  20. Tempestfall could do with going further over-the-top. Age of Sigmar gets a bad rap from fans of the Old World—Warhammer's previous fantasy setting—which was pushed to the back of the cupboard in 2015, discontinued in favor of this more high-fantasy take on the genre. I like the Old World too, but Age of Sigmar has its place. It's Warhammer with the heavy metal turned up, a setting where ghoul kings hallucinate courts draped in finery while actually ruling ruins full of cannibals, steampunk sky-dwarfs mine gaseous aether-gold out of cloud banks, and dragons can be so immense one is wrapped in chains and used as a sun. There's a character called Drakatoa, the Living Avalanche. It's gonzo as [CENSORED]. I sure wish that came across in Tempestfall. In this VR action game I'm a lord-arcanum, a wizard-warrior of the Stormcast Eternals who answers directly to a lightning god. Along with my heavily armored brothers and sisters, who all wear gold masks, I'm off to fight the undead awakened by an event called "the Necroquake". That's a prog concept album right there, but in practice what it means is fighting samey batches of skeletons and ghosts in empty streets, empty crypts, and empty wastelands. Gripping my fists makes weapons spring out of them: axe, sword, or staff. Each has different spells that can be activated by holding the trigger and waving them in a specific way. The gesture controls aren't perfect, but I've definitely felt less responsive ones, and I end up relying on magic because melee feels flat. Enemies wind up before swinging to give you time to launch a parry, and they become invulnerable for a moment when they do—if you're attacking when they decide to ready a blow your weapons just whoosh right through. When you do connect, it turns out hitting ghosts with a big magic axe is about as effective as slapping them with a wiffle bat, so you may as well just stick to the lightning spell that eats health bars like they're made of cake. Skeletons have a bit more physicality—you can pick them up and yoink their heads right off. I spent a lot of time flapping skulls around and throwing them off things, which was actually pretty fun. Other interactions aren't so fun. There are a lot of double doors I want to push open like I'm Aragorn and the party don't start till I walk in, but instead they either grind to a stop halfway or I immediately glitch right through to the other side. There's a lot of climbing too, going hand over hand up and down ropes and ladders and so on. The option to have floating icons that let you skip climbing sections is on by default, which suggests a lack of confidence in them. It's deserved. Going up a ladder means hoping the animation that hauls you up to a final standing position kicks in when it's supposed to, and climbing down a rope only to realize you're now halfway through the ground and tumbling into the void isn't great either. Weirdly, the skip-climb icons don't always appear, so sometimes you just have to put up with it. There are also narrow corridors your armoured bulk can't get through without grabbing a convenient beam and hauling yourself along it. That's glitchy as well. I got stuck in one of those for a while, unable to drag myself through without bouncing back jarringly until eventually I just disappeared into darkness and then reappeared at the start—at which point performing the same action worked perfectly and I slid through the whole thing in seconds. Worse than being janky and having some fiddly controls (weapon-switching in particular is a hassle), Tempestfall is boring. The enemies aren't real bright, getting stuck on obstacles and waiting for you to re-murder them. Both they and obstacles respawn so you have to burn the same vines to fight the same ghosts when backtracking. Friendly NPCs jerk their arms around like puppets while blandly explaining what to do next. Occasionally I see some floating islands that look like they came right off a Roger Dean album cover, or a gigantic statue that gets struck by lightning and shatters, but mostly it feels like a waste of this outrageous setting. There's a sewer level, for goodness' sake. Maps of the Age of Sigmar setting have place names like Rain of Corpses and The World Pimples—if you want to send me somewhere grotesque, you don't have to fall back on a sewer level. Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Tempestfall is available on Steam for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. A dedicated Oculus Quest version is in the works, but in the meantime Quest 2 owners can play the Rift version over Oculus Link via cable or Air Link. link : https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/the-vr-age-of-sigmar-game-isnt-metal-enough/
  21. Forget manufacturer claims - we've verified all these high speed runs with our own timing gear These are the quickest ten cars yet to have been the subject of a full Autocar road test, as verified by our own timing gear. And guess what: the legendary McLaren F1 is no longer anywhere among them. Acceleration claims for new performance cars are easy to make, but often tricky or even misleading to compare. When it comes to standing-start acceleration, judging cars on like-for-like terms isn’t always easy, with slightly different benchmarking standards often skewing your comparisons. European manufacturers most commonly claim standing-start acceleration for their cars in 0-62mph because it’s equivalent to 0-100kmh; but some UK-based firms still claim 0-60mph instead. Meanwhile some American-based car-makers who claim 0-60mph performance do it on the basis of a ‘one-foot rollout’ drag-strip-style performance measure which disregards the first foot of the car’s acceleration run, and therefore isn’t a fair basis for comparison with any ‘from rest’ figure. Because this is now such conventional practice in North America, it’s usually not even acknowledged, making it very problematic to compare standing start acceleration claims made by, say, Chevrolet or Tesla with those of Porsche, Ferrari or Mercedes-AMG. Even if everyone dealt in like-for-like terms where acceleration claims are concerned, though, isn’t there a better and more representative measurement of real-world performance potential than a 0-60mph claim? The answer’s yes; and it’s one that also balances out the advantages often given to brand-new performance cars by super-sticky ‘cup’ tyres, electronic launch control systems, active four-wheel drive systems, and torque-rich electric motors that can, between them, provide performance that’s much more instant than it is long-lasting. Below is a list of the fastest-accelerating performance cars ever to have been subject to a full set of Autocar’s independent performance tests as part of our standard road test procedure. They are ranked not on 0-60mph pace but instead primarily in order of their roll-on, through-the-gears acceleration from 30- to 70mph; with standing quarter-mile acceleration used to break any ties arising between cars of the same pace. So we’re not dealing in manufacturer’s claims here. These are verified acceleration statistics repeated and averaged out over two directions and on a level surface; in cars fully fuelled and with two occupants onboard; not fluked on one occasion and in one direction with a following wind, or conducted on some gluey dragstrip surface that’s worth a few bonus tenths off the line. This is our definitive, empirically backed list of the fastest road cars to which we’ve ever fixed timing gear. And you’ll be amazed what misses the cut. 1. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport 30-70mph: 1.7sec | Standing ¼-mile: 10.1sec at 147.9mph | Test date - 2.3.11 It’s been more than a decade now since our 5000th road test, on the mighty Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, was published. Even after that long it retains a little bit of breathing space as the fastest road car we’ve ever figured from 30- to 70mph. Bugatti’s yet to make a Chiron available to us for a road test, we should add; but since our Veyron test happened towards the end of that car’s life as a production car, there’s reason for hope that they might still do so. In the new age of the ‘gigawatt’ electric hypercar, we can expect the Veyron’s position on this list to be assailed sooner or later, whether by its direct replacement or an electrified rival; but it’ll only be achieved by a fiercely fast car. Moreover, until those electric exotics come with gearboxes, they may never accelerate beyond three figures quite like the 1183bhp Bugatti could. “If a Veyron Super Sport set off from a standing start ten seconds after a McLaren F1,” recorded our test, “allowing the McLaren to hit 130mph before even turning a wheel - the Bugatti could still reach 200mph at exactly the same time.” “It sounds a bit like two TVR Griffiths on full reheat, plus an industrial-strength air hose running all at once. But it has mind-bending, heart-stopping acceleration the like of which has never been felt in a road car before.” 2. Ferrari SF90 Stradale Assetto Fiorano 30-70mph: 1.8sec | Standing ¼-mile: 9.9sec at 146.8mph | Test date - 03.11.21 Ferrari's incredible petrol-electric plug-in hybrid SF90 Stradale supercar set the fastest laptime we've ever recorded around our benchmark handling track in September 2021, and surpassed most of the accelerative benchmarks of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport during the same test session. Most, but not quite all. It may be to do with shift timing, or a quirk of the way the Ferrari develops its torque; but the Ferrari didn't quite pip the Bugatti's 30-70mph through-the-gears acceleration time, missing it by a solitary tenth of a second. It covered a standing quarter mile faster than the Veyron, as well as a standing kilometre, and just about every other measurable increment as well. Sometimes, that's just how performance timing goes. Occasional anomalies are how can be sure that we generate these numbers for real. 3. Porsche 918 Spyder 30-70mph: 1.9sec | Standing ¼-mile: 10.2sec at 144.9mph | Test date - 22.10.14 The awesome Porsche 918 Spyder was one of the infamous ‘holy trinity’ of hybrid hypercars that emerged in the early part of the 2010s. We only got to fully test two-out-of-three; but the 918 was narrowly the quicker of the two, the car’s team of electric drive motors and race-derived V8 piston engine catapulting it from 30- to 70mph in less than two seconds. “The 918’s in-gear performance is unrivalled,” we recorded. “What’s so astonishing is not just the pace but also the flexibility afforded by its rampant electric motors’ instant torque. To accelerate from both 20mph to 40mph and 30mph to 50mph in second gear, a 918 Spyder needs 1.0sec. A McLaren P1 wants 1.3sec and 1.1sec over the same marks.” link
  22. "People need to understand that gender fluidity is not about costume play," Patruni Sastry said Ayushmann Khurrana, recently, took to social media where he shared a magazine cover featuring him with kohled eyes and black nail paint. However, the post soon came under scrutiny for its caption, that has left netizens fuming. ALSO READ |Woven with waste: Ayushmann Khurrana makes a case for upcycled luxury fashion with this look Sharing the cover, the Vicky Donor actor wrote, “Gender fluid” with a black heart. Check out the post below. The post instantly went viral, with the LGBTQ+ community calling it an “appropriation of queer identities” and schooling the actor about ‘gender fluidity’. Upon receiving backlash, the actor took down his Twitter post while his Instagram post is still visible on his account. “You’re a cis het male, not gender fluid. Wearing a black nail paint and starring in a movie based on gay men, isn’t gender fluid. Do better,” a user wrote. As per WebMD, a gender fluid person is someone whose gender identity is not fixed. “It can change over time or from day-to-day. Fluid is a form of gender identity or gender expression, rather than sexual orientation.” “A person who is gender fluid may identify as a male one day, female the next, both male and female, or neither.” ALSO READ |LGBTQ health: What should doctors keep in mind while treating lesbian and bisexual patients? Artist Patruni Sastry, who identifies as gender-fluid, explained, “A gender fluid person is someone who constantly has the idea of gender changing, from one time to the other. They don’t fit into only one particular section of it. Being a gender fluid person, you might be triggered with gender dysphoria on a timely basis, even while having sexual activity. They go through multiple gender experiences and do not fit into one particular box of it.” Calling the actor’s post “a huge problem”, Sastry added, “People need to understand that gender fluidity is not about costume play. Wearing a ghaghra or putting a nail paint from a cis-het privilege doesn’t make someone gender fluid. Such things are quite insulting and disqualifying to the actual lives of people who are gender fluid. It leads to a lot of trauma and disqualification of a person’s existence.” Agreed Indrajeet Ghorpade, founder of Yes, We Exist, a digital LGBTQIA+ advocacy initiative, who said that unless it is the actor’s “coming out post”, the caption denotes that he is “confused between gender expression and gender identity”. “Genderfluid is a gender identity, it is not a style or a fashion trend. Being genderfluid in the Indian society comes with innumerable struggles, and if Ayushmann had any idea about what the community faces on a daily basis, he wouldn’t have simply indulged in this queerbaiting exercise,” said Ghorpade. “The post also propagates an incorrect stereotype that anyone who wears nail paint or makeup is a genderfluid person. This might subject a lot of young boys and men to bullying and harassment if they choose to paint their nails or apply mehendi or makeup and they might be misgendered by the bullies as genderfluid even though they might not necessarily be genderfluid,” he added. link : https://indianexpress.com/article/lifestyle/life-style/ayushmann-khurrana-gender-fluid-gq-magazine-lgbtq-gender-identity-7652189/
  23. The Duchess of Sussex has won the latest stage in her legal fight against the publisher of the Mail on Sunday over a letter she sent to her father. The Court of Appeal rejected Associated Newspapers' attempt to have a trial in the privacy and copyright case. A judge had previously ruled in favour of Meghan after extracts from the letter appeared in the paper. Meghan said it was a win "not just for me, but for anyone who has ever felt scared to stand up for what's right". In a statement issued after the ruling, the duchess said: "In the nearly three years since this began, I have been patient in the face of deception, intimidation and calculated attacks." She added: "The courts have held the defendant to account and my hope is that we all begin to do the same. Because as far removed as it may seem from your personal life, it's not. Tomorrow it could be you. "These harmful practices don't happen once in a blue moon - they are a daily fail that divide us and we all deserve better." Profile: Duchess of Sussex Where do Harry and Meghan get their money? Who's in the UK Royal Family and how does it work? The Court of Appeal accepted Meghan's argument that the letter to Thomas Markle in August 2018 was "deeply personal". The judges were told that 585 out of the letter's 1,250 words had been republished in the five articles in question. In their decision, the three judges said the letter's contents were "personal, private and not matters of legitimate public interest". The High Court in February found the issues in the case were so clear cut that there was no need for a full hearing. And on Thursday, judges at the appeal said it was hard to see what evidence at a trial would have altered the situation. They added: "The judge had correctly decided that, whilst it might have been proportionate to publish a very small part of the letter for that purpose, it was not necessary to publish half the contents of the letter." At a three-day hearing in November, lawyers for Associated Newspapers argued that Meghan's claims against the publisher for breach of privacy and copyright should be heard at a full trial. During the case, it was revealed that Meghan had authorised her former communications secretary, Jason Knauf, to co-operate with the authors of a book about her and Prince Harry, something she had previously denied. They also produced a witness statement from Mr Knauf, which indicated that the duchess had written the letter knowing it might be leaked. Mr Knauf said Meghan sent him an early draft of the letter and had written: "Obviously everything I have drafted is with the understanding that it could be leaked so I have been meticulous in my word choice, but please do let me know if anything stands out for you as a liability." But in written evidence, Meghan denied she thought it likely that her father would leak the letter, saying she "merely recognised that this was a possibility". Meghan has won a significant victory in this courtroom battle to protect her privacy. She's drawn a line in the sand. Even if her life is of public interest, she's shown that it doesn't make her public property. It was a high-risk strategy, which could have put her in court facing awkward questions, but the appeal court ruling has seen her winning without that. But it's already come with some bruising headlines - such as having to apologise for having forgotten how information was given to authors writing a book about her and Prince Harry. This might have been an "unfortunate lapse of memory", said the appeal court ruling, but it didn't bear on the fundamental issues of whether such a private letter to her father should have been published. Meghan divides public opinion - with vocal supporters and critics both seeing bias and prejudice on the other side - and this court case is unlikely to change that. But she has succeeded in a legal battle that previous generations of royals would probably have avoided. link : https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-59502787
