In 2021, the median pay for employees was $68,254 (roughly Rs. 50.66 lakh), Apple said, adding it had selected a new median employee for comparison due to changes in hiring and compensation. The median pay in 2020 was $57,783 (roughly Rs. 42.89 lakh) and the pay ratio was 256 times Cook's salary. Apple CEO Tim Cook Signed $275-Billion Deal to Placate China The iPhone maker has benefited from strong demand over the past two years as consumers working from home splurged on upgrades. Apple's revenue rose more than 30 percent to $365.82 billion (roughly Rs. 27,15,521 crore) for its fiscal 2021 and its shares briefly crossed $3 trillion (roughly Rs. 2,22,69,270 crore) in market capitalization this year. Cook, whose salary remained at $3 million (roughly Rs. 22.26 crore), received $82.3 million (roughly Rs. 610.92 crore) in stock awards, $12 million (roughly Rs. 89.07 crores) for hitting Apple's targets and $1.4 million (roughly Rs. 10.39 crore) for air travel, 401(k) plan, insurance premiums and others. In total, he earned $98.7 million (roughly Rs. 732.65 crores), compared with $14.8 million (roughly Rs. 109.86 crores) in 2020. Here’s What Tim Cook Spilled About Apple and Cryptocurrency Cook took the helm in August 2011 after the company's co-founder Steve Jobs stepped down months before his demise. The stock has surged over 1,000 percent since Cook took charge. In September, Cook received 333,987 restricted stock units, in his first stock grant since 2011 as part of a long-term equity plan. He will be eligible to receive additional units in 2023. Cook told Fortune magazine in 2015 that he plans to donate his wealth to charity. Apple Doubled Its Business in India, CEO Tim Cook Says CEOs in the United States were paid 351 times more than the typical worker in 2020, a report by the Economic Policy Institute showed, while the compensation of top CEOs grew roughly 60 faster than the stock market from 1978 to 2020, eclipsing the slow 18 percent growth in a typical worker's annual pay. © Thomson Reuters 2021 What's most interesting about Apple's new MacBook Pros, M1 Pro and M1 Max silicon, AirPods (3rd Generation), and Apple Music Voice plan? 2. https://www.techradar.com/news/did-apple-win-ces-2022-without-even-being-there Google, Intel, Nvidia, AMD. These and other companies made it a mission to mention Apple in some way at this year’s CES. While Apple wasn’t actually at the event in Las Vegas, it still felt like everyone was talking about the company. If you watched Intel and Nvidia’s live streams, you would have heard about products that were faster than Apple’s M1 Max chips for example (although further research looks to have put cold water on these claims by both companies already). If You Like to Play, this City-Building Game is a Must-Have. No Install. Forge of Empires - Free Online Game It’s only when you scratch the surface that you find that Apple has already been regarded as the winner at CES this year in a variety of categories, without being there in any official capacity. Apple was in the eye of many at CES 2022 Intel was quick to compare its newest Alder Lake chips with the M1 Max, currently available in the MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models. The press release directly states that the Intel Core i9 chip is faster than the M1 Max, but when you consider the heat that dissipates from this CPU compared to Apple’s chips, there’s more than just speed that Apple beats the competition on. Intel comparing its Core i9 chip with Apple's M1 Max The Core i9 can draw up to 115 watts of power, while the M1 Max requests 60 watts in regular use, and it usually doesn’t exceed 90 watts when macOS demands more power from the chip. But this is just one example from Intel, as the company also showcased Apple Watch and iMessage integration with upcoming Evo PCs through Screenovate, an app that was recently acquired by the company in December. Google also announced an effort to mimic the connectivity that Apple’s ecosystem of devices boasts. Soon, you’ll be able to pair multiple devices through an upcoming feature called Fast Pair. This allows your Android phone to unlock your Chromebook, or having your Pixel Buds being able to swap between your phone and laptop with no issue. However, this isn’t just about Google and Intel being inspired by Apple’s software features. But wait, there’s more Find My is Apple’s service of integrating with other products that can be found through the Find My app. It’s the same method that AirTags offer, but the company is allowing other companies to use the same technology. Targus was one example at CES by integrating Find My into a backpack. Belkin also announced earbuds that would feature Find My, alongside a mount for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series that will be able to track your face, ideal for video calls or for creating the next viral TikTok video. There’s also more efforts by companies such as Eve to integrate Apple’s HomeKit, which is a way of managing your home devices through the Home app, so you can control lights, your heating, and soon window blinds to switch on and off around your home when needed. These are just some examples of what was announced at CES 2022, but it only shows how Apple was everywhere at the event, but not present itself. The only time where someone from Apple appeared at CES was in 2020 when Jane Horvath, Apple's senior director of privacy, took to the stage in a privacy roundtable. And, the year before, the company decided to put up a banner in front of CES promoting the fact that your information is stored on your iPhone only.
  3. https://www.pcgamer.com/intel-gut-punches-apple-by-hiring-engineer-that-led-transition-from-intel-based-macs-to-apple-silicon/ There's a mighty tug-of-war going on between the world's largest chipmakers, and it's not just for customers. Top staff will always be the difference maker, and Intel and Apple are constantly duking it out for the best engineering brains. This time Jeff Wilcox, once director of Mac system architecture, is heading back to Intel to join the Fellow and Design Engineering Group as chief technical officer. Best gaming monitor: pixel-perfect panels for your PC Best high refresh rate monitor: screaming quick screens Best 4K monitor for gaming: when only high-res will do Best 4K TV for gaming: big-screen 4K PC gaming That's bound to be a big blow for its Cupertino-based competitor, as Wilcox "led the transition for all Macs to Apple Silicon beginning with M1 chip", as his LinkedIn profile describes (via Tom's Hardware). Apple is determined to get rid of Intel-based Mac systems in favour of its own in-house designed chips, built out of ARM architectures, and Wilcox had a big part to play in that strategy working. It was, of course, successful, and Apple has since improved on the M1 with the M1 Max and M1 Pro. If You Like to Play on Your Computer, this Vintage Game is a Must-Have. No Install. Forge of Empires - Free Online Game Now Wilcox will head up a pivotal role at Intel, where he has worked previously, and will be leading up efforts on all architectures destined for Intel's client SoCs. That's a lot of chips, too. Mobile processors, most definitely, but it'll also play into Intel's new Foundry Services, which may one day adopt a more mix-and-match approach to SoCs with clients. Whichever way you cut it, it's a big role as Intel looks to larger onboard graphics, connectivity, and systems all integrated into a single package, and it's only going to get more important as the decade marches on. AppleInsider reports that Apple has been trying to keep its engineers on-side with large bonuses, though it's not known whether the company tried to retain Wilcox in such a manner. Apple's decision to leave Intel behind ruffled plenty of feathers at the x86 chipmaker, including CEO Pat Gelsinger, who said in an inaugural letter to staff that “We have to deliver better products to the PC ecosystem than any possible thing that a lifestyle company in Cupertino makes." Now that's fighting talk. This is going to be seen as a big win for Intel, especially with Gelsinger's plans to put the company back on top, and a bit of a gut-punch for Apple. It definitely feels more important than those cringey Apple bashing ads Intel has been running lately, anyways. 5. https://www.pcgamer.com/see-final-fantasy-7-remake-with-the-originals-fixed-camera/ Thanks to the Universal Unreal Unlocker mod, it's possible to shift the over-the-shoulder camera of Final Fantasy 7 Remake into the fixed perspectives of the original. YouTuber Final FanTV did just that, in a video that compares the train station and Mako reactor sequences of both games. In spite of obvious changes to the color palette and details, as well as the fact that in the remake Barret jogs along behind Cloud instead of vanishing inside him when they're partied up, the similarities between locations in the two games are obvious. Even when the pipes are replaced by more sensible industrial catwalks and narrow walkways are expanded so fights can take place on them, the layouts are similar enough to tickle the part of the brain that's pleased to see an old thing made new. The video's creator says he made it in the hope someone is inspired to make a mod that lets all the remake's exploration be enjoyed with overhead cameras—though he emphasizes his recreations of the battle sequences are just for fun, and not something he'd like to see replace the remake's combat. If You Need to Kill Time on Your Computer, this City-Building Game is a Must-Have. No Install. Forge of Empires - Free Online Game Modders have begun tweaking the PC port of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and the video was made with a mod that brings Cloud closer to his original color scheme. Opinions on the remake have been divided here at PC Gamer. I found that it helped me finally appreciate Final Fantasy 7, a game I'd never really understood the fascination with before, while Fraser said it took a dump on his childhood. 7. https://www.techradar.com/news/microsoft-365-update-will-make-sure-no-one-is-at-a-disadvantage At a time when business are using web accessibility software to make their websites accessible to all, Microsoft has released a new add-on that does the same thing for its office software. As over 1bn people are currently living with a disability, the software giant's Office Engineering team has created a new accessibility add-on for Microsoft Office called Accessibility Reminder. According to a new blog post, Accessibility Reminder helps drive awareness of the importance of making your organization's Office documents accessible with tips and tricks to fix accessibility issues. With the app's comment feature, disabled users can also remind their fellow collaborators that something in a document needs to be changed so that they can see or hear it. Used Car Prices in Hebron Might Surprise You Used Cars | Search Ads The Accessibility Reminder app is currently available in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint for both desktop and the web. Accessibility Reminder app Microsoft's new Accessibility Reminder app allows users to insert reminder comments in Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint slides to spread awareness of any issues they have when trying to collaborate with others. In addition to more general comments, users can also create custom comments to notify specific document authors and include personalized messages, organization-specific links, training and more. To install Microsoft's Accessibility Reminder app, you first need to navigate to this website, sign in with your Microsoft 365 email address and fill out a short form. From here, you'll be taken to the Microsoft Garage project download site where you can specify which applications you want to install and use the app in. While Microsoft released its Adaptive Controller back in 2018 to help disabled gamers play games on Xbox and PC, its new Accessibility Reminder app will likely be a big help for them when working from home and collaborating with their co-workers in documents, spreadsheets and presentations. 8. https://www.pcgamer.com/amd-rx-6500-xt-worse-than-rx-480/ One of the most interesting things to happen at CES 2022 from a PC gaming perspective was that both AMD and Nvidia finally revealed this generation's sub-$250 graphics cards. While we're still waiting for more specs and performance details about Nvidia's RTX 3050, there are some depressing things to note about AMD's Radeon RX 6500 XT, most especially when you compare it with the $199 Radeon RX 480 AMD launched back in 2016. The performance increases we've seen in graphics cards over the last few years has been astonishing. We've been treated to the most powerful GPUs ever to grace a PC, slices of graphical silicon capable of pixel-pushing feats we could hitherto only dream of. But that's come at the expense of affordability with even today's third-tier graphics cards costing upwards of $700. When you put the twin mood-killers of a global pandemic and a global chip shortage into the equation you also get a situation where it's not financially prudent to create lower-priced GPUs that will be in high demand. Not when you can just make expensive products, which are in just as high demand, and watch those fly off the shelves anyway. Genius Japanese Invention Allows You To Instantly Speak 43 Languages So we've had to suffer higher-priced GPUs and an obvious lack of mainstream graphics cards for the normal humans unable to spend their entire bank balance on a new card. But now we're finally getting new, affordable RX 600-series and RTX 3000-series graphics cards. Though, while it's great to see both the GPU makers finally releasing budget graphics cards, it's painful to see just what that means in terms of their specs. These look to be every bit the pandemic GPUs of our worst nightmares, I just hope I'm wrong about them. What we always want to see is higher performance and higher specs compared with the same price GPUs of the last generation, and that is tangibly not the case with the RX 6500 XT. Okay, so the jury is still out on actual gaming frame rates from the new Radeon until we get it in our test bench, but our experiences with the RX 6600 XT—essentially an RX 5700 XT for the same price—and a read of the RX 6500 XT specs sheet don't fill us with confidence.

  10. https://www.pcgamer.com/lost-ark-gameplay-video-delivers-a-crash-course-in-the-hit-korean-arpg/ We first heard about Lost Ark all the way back in 2014, when we described it as "an exceptionally good looking ARPG" that struck us as an absurdly over-the-top (but in a good way) Diablo-like. Lost Ark came out a few years later in 2018, but only in Korea. After that it mostly fell off our radar until mid-2021, when Amazon announced that it was teaming up with developer Smilegate RPG to localize Lost Ark for North America and Europe. We took a closer look at the game during its November 2021 beta test, and even though seven years have passed we found that it still "redefines over-the-top.” "Every time I fast-travel I pull out an electric guitar and play a sweet lick and I still don't know why," weekend editor Jody Macgregor wrote. "When I hop on my mount I have a choice between a horse and a cloud that can put on a fireworks display. Where Path of Exile looks like it's been cursed by a witch to look drab so a prince won't fall in love with it, everything about Lost Ark is garish, cartoonish, and glorious." If You Are Above 30, this Strategy Game is a Must-Have. No Install. Forge of Empires - Free Online Game I get the same impression watching this new Lost Ark gameplay video. It starts innocuously enough, with a quick rundown of the five classes—Mage, Martial Artist, Warrior, Gunner, and Assassin—and abilities, but moves quickly from there into character customization, a crash course in the setting and story, sailing ships (yes, there are ships, complete with crews), strongholds, raids, PvP, and more. There's a lot going on, to put it mildly, and it looks great. Lost Ark is set to go live on February 11 and will be free to play, but you can get in early on February 8 by purchasing a Founder's Pack. There are multiple options ranging from $15 to $100 on Steam and Amazon and along with early access you'll also get an array of in-game items including a mount, a pet, avatars, currency, supplies, and more. You can find out more about what's happening at playlostark.com.

  12. https://www.techradar.com/news/linkedin-is-taking-on-zoom-and-microsoft-teams-with-a-new-audio-and-video-events-platform In order to get users to spend more time on its professional social network, LinkedIn is preparing to launch a new virtual events platform for both audio and video. As reported by TechCrunch, the company's new events platform will allow creators and organizations to list, host and market interactive virtual events. LinkedIn actually began looking into events before the pandemic began with the launch of its Events hub back in 2019. However, as more people started working from home, the company added online polls and video events to provide remote workers with access to events. Starting a Business in Dubai Might Be Easier Than You Think. Dubai business Now though with its new virtual events platform, LinkedIn will start out with an audio-only product similar to Clubhouse that will launch in beta this month followed by a video version that will be available in the spring. Audio and video events When LinkedIn's new events platform launches in beta later this month, organizers won't have to rely on other third-party software as it will include all of the tools needed to run interactive content from end-to-end. Hosts will be able to record and run their events straight from LinkedIn as the new platform will include tools for online attendees and hosts to have live conversations and moderate discussions. However, attendees will also be able to communicate with one another both during and after an event has ended. Promoting these events will be a cinch as well as organizers can do so on LinkedIn. The platform will start off by targeting individual creators who already rely on the professional social network to connect with a wider audience and cover topics such as career development and recruitment. Product manager at LinkedIn, Jake Poses provided further details on the company's philosophy when it comes to its new virtual event platform for audio and video in an interview with TechCrunch, saying: “Our philosophy is to put the organizers in control. We want to make it easier to host virtual round tables, fireside chats, and more. Some may want the event to be more formal, or less formal. Some might want to communicate with their audience, to open up to the floor. We’re giving professionals interactivity and support.” We'll likely hear more from LinkedIn once the audio-only portion of its new virtual events platform begins rolling out in beta later this month. 13. https://www.pcgamer.com/quantum-dot-oled-gaming-monitors-arent-just-sci-fi-nonsense-theyre-the-future/ QD-OLED, or Quantum Dot organic light emitting diodes if you're feeling fancy, sounds to me like something Spielberg invented for his latest sci-fi installment. But after some delving, it's actually looking to be one of the most interesting innovations we've seen in the gaming monitor space of recent, bendable screens aside of course. Samsung just rolled up at CES 2022 with the Odyssey G8QNB gaming monitor, with its 175Hz refresh, vivid colours, and ultrawide 4K, curved design. But what I'm most excited about is the fact it works on QD-OLED display technology. It's touting same panel tech behind the new Alienware AW3423DW, also unveiled during the chaos of CES. For that reason, both technically hold the title of world's first Quantum Dot OLED gaming monitor. But, I guess it depends which one comes to market first. If You Need to Kill Time on Your Computer, this City-Building Game is a Must-Have. No Install. Forge of Empires - Free Online Game Either way, we've been exploring what makes the science behind this innovative panel so exciting. Now, the Quantum Dot concept has been around for a while, being used in QLED TVs and the like, but it's the combination of Quantum Dot and OLED tech that makes this design interesting. OLED tech is impressive by itself, offering better contrast with darker blacks, thanks to its ability to switch LEDs off completely in the dark spaces of your image without any blooming. QD-OLED, however, takes things to another level, combining the contrast levels of OLED with bright and vibrant Quantum Dot tech. For Quantum Dot panels, engineers make use of something affectionately dubbed 'the sandwich.' Infographic about OLED tech Samsung explains that its manufacturers add nanoparticles to layers of film, glass and filters within the panel. It's like sprinkling sesame seeds in between all the layers of your sandwich, except they're only visible under a microscope, and they emit different colours when you shine certain light frequencies through them. Also, they're not seeds at all, they're particles with "semiconductor properties," which vary in size depending on the colour they're meant to emit. "Larger dots emit light that is skewed toward red, and progressively smaller dots emit light that is skewed more toward green," the insights post elaborates. Best microphone for gaming: make sure you're heard Best webcams: be seen while you get your stream on Best capture cards: lessen the load with a dedicated card In combining the supreme colour gamuts of the QD tech, with organic, self emitting, blue lighting beneath it, you get something truly exciting. And apparently it's better for your eyes thanks to its optimised blue light exposure. Samsung has even boiled down the once convoluted structure of the LCD Quantum Dot tech to include fewer layers too, meaning the panels can be much thinner than before. For gaming, this tech even promises faster response times, at true 0.1ms G-t-G, and better HDR. But I suppose we'll discover all this first hand when we get a chance to test one. Well, now I'm feeling both excited for the future of gaming monitors, and a little bit hungry for sammiches. Cheers Samsung.

  15. https://www.pcgamer.com/reddit-learns-you-can-shoot-down-skyrims-beehives-to-get-honey/ The long-running webcomic xkcd did a strip I think about a lot. It's about why we shouldn't make fun of people for admitting they didn't know something. As the strip says, for everything you know "every day there are, on average, 10,000 people in the US hearing about it for the first time." Earlier this week, most of those 10,000 people seem to have been on the Skyrim subreddit. "I must be stupid," a user called Skyrim_For_Everyone posted, "been playing for a while and never realized you could shoot beehives from trees." It's true. There are beehives in Skyrim and you can knock them down with arrows or spells to get at the honey inside. (As well as husk and bees.) And yet, I've never seen a mod that lets you play as Yogi Bear. "You're not stupid, I didn't realize that either" set the tone for most of the replies, with the occasional "Wait, there's beehives?" and quite a few people sharing other things they didn't realize until they'd been playing Skyrim for hundreds of hours. If You Need to Kill Time on Your Computer, this City-Building Game is a Must-Have. No Install. Forge of Empires - Free Online Game A lot of them are about other things you can shoot, with spells or arrows or even dragonshouts. There are all kinds of unreachable items to knock down, like bird's nests, the burning braziers over the convenient oil slicks in dungeons (they're the patches of ground with the pinkish sheen), and the magical crystal traps that shoot lightning. You can even shoot tripwires to set them off, and shoot hawks out of the sky to get their beaks and feathers for alchemy. Maybe none of this is news to you because you've 100%-ed Skyrim and collected all the Stone of Barenziah and done everything there is to do. But, like the xkcd strip says, "If I make fun of people, I train them not to tell me when they have those moments. And I miss out on the fun."
  16. https://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/news/oneplus-nord-2-oxygenos-a-16-update-call-recording-fix-india-2691896 OnePlus Nord 2 5G has started receiving a new OxygenOS update which fixes a call recording issue in India. The latest update comes just days after OnePlus released the OxygenOS A.15 for OnePlus Nord 2 5G. The last OxygenOS update disabled call recording via the Google Phone app in India, according to user reports. Launched in July last year, OnePlus Nord 2 5G comes preloaded with the Google Phone app which offers the call recording functionality and allows users to record voice calls, without requiring any third-party apps. As initially reported by XDA Developers, OnePlus has started rolling out the OxygenOS A.16 update for OnePlus Nord 2 5G in India and Europe. The update comes with software version DN2101_11_A.16 for Indian users, while it is available as DN2103_11_A.16 for their European counterparts. The changelog of the update meant for Indian users, which has been shared by some users on OnePlus Community forums, shows that the update “fixes the loss of Google call recording.” Other changes are the same as the last update. The software update does not bring any changes to the Android security patch as it remains the December 2021 version. OnePlus Nord 2 OxygenOS Update Brings December 2021 Security Patch, More Following the last update, some OnePlus Nord 2 5G users in India complained that it disabled the call recording function that was available through the Google Phone app. Although OnePlus did not formally acknowledge the problem, the update appears to address user complaints. Having said that, some users have now taken to OnePlus Community forums to report that after updating OnePlus Nord 2 5G to the latest software version, they are no longer able to turn off flashlight through the power button. The phone normally turns off the inbuilt flashlight when a user double clicks the power button on the side. 17. https://www.techradar.com/news/nasa-is-taking-cisco-webex-to-space Lockheed Martin, Amazon and Cisco have announced a new collaboration that will see Cisco Webex and Amazon's Alexa integrated into NASA's Orion spacecraft. This innovative payload, dubbed Callisto, will fly on board the Orion spacecraft which was built by Lockheed Martin for the US space agency's Artemis 1 uncrewed mission around the Moon. Callisto will use Alexa and Webex to test and demonstrate how commercial technology can be used for deep space voice, video and whiteboarding communications. According to Lisa Callahan, VP and general manager of Lockheed Martin's Commercial Civil Space division, Callisto will show how these technologies can enable astronauts to be more self-reliant as they explore deep space. If You Need to Kill Time on Your Computer, this City-Building Game is a Must-Have. No Install. Forge of Empires - Free Online Game Named after a favorite companion of the Greek goddess Artemis, Callisto features a custom hardware and software integration developed by engineers at all three companies that will allow Alexa to work without an internet connection and Webex to run on a tablet using NASA's Deep Space Network. Virtual crew experience As Artemis 1 is an uncrewed mission, Lockheed Martin, Amazon and Cisco have also built a virtual crew experience at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas that will allow operators to interact with Callisto from the Mission Control Center. Through these remote interactions, Callisto partners and NASA will be able to test and demonstrate how voice and video collaboration technologies can help astronauts improve efficiency and situational awareness during their mission by enabling them to access flight status and telemetry data with the ability to control connected devices onboard Orion. At the same time, video and audio of these interactions will be transmitted back to Earth throughout the duration of the Artemis 1 mission so that engineers can analyze the performance of onboard systems while also sharing interactions with the public. In fact, students, families and space enthusiasts will be able to engage with and virtually “ride along” with the mission on Alexa-enabled devices by saying “Alexa, take me to the Moon” while Webex video collaboration capabilities will provide opportunities for STEM education and remote classroom teaching events. Artemis 1 is scheduled to launch in the beginning of this year from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida for a multi-week journey around the Moon and back. 18. https://www.pcgamer.com/playstation-vr2-virtual-reality-headset-announcement/ PlayStation VR2, the company's next-generation VR system for the PlayStation 5 console. The PS VR2 looks like it'll be a pretty capable machine, packed with features you'd expect from a modern VR headset. Of course, with a few PlayStation-y innovations coming in under the Sense Technology moniker. The official PlayStation blog outlines the PS VR2 specs, which include 4K HDR at 2,000 x 2,040 resolution per eye, and 1,001 ppi. That's miles above the previous generation PS VR1's overall 1080p with 386 ppi, and thanks to the OLED panel within the headset, players will be able to enjoy some deep contrasts, too. With the PlayStation 5 powered by a custom AMD SoC, and with 16GB of GDDR6 RAM under the hood, the PS VR2 will surely be able to hold its own in the world of VR. At least until we PC gamers shuffle over to affordable 8K 240Hz VR, that is. That's probably a way off, though. A long way off. If You Need to Kill Time on Your Computer, this City-Building Game is a Must-Have. No Install. Forge of Empires - Free Online Game Sony confirms the PS VR2 will come with 90/120Hz capabilities, and our friends over at TechRadar believe the latency of this next-gen headset should improve to around 2.2 milliseconds. That would be a darn sight better than the 18 millisecond latency of the PS VR1, though Sony hasn't confirmed this yet. What the company has confirmed is an expanded, 110-degree field of view, and foveated rendering so the processor doesn't have to work as hard. The PS VR2 will also come with impressive sounding headset feedback which "amplifies the sensations of in-game actions," 3D audio, and the all important eye tracking, for "heightened emotional response and enhanced expression" in game. The combination of these features makes up PS VR2 Sense Technology, and it's all stuff right on the forefront of VR tech found anywhere today, even the best VR headsets on PC. Best chair for gaming: the top gaming chairs around Best gaming desk: the ultimate PC podiums Best PC controller: sit back, relax, and get your game on Additionally, PlayStation fans will be relieved to hear the PS VR2 will have inside out tracking—yep, no more setting up sensors. And since the new Sense Controllers will feature six-axis motion sensors (three-axis gyro, and three-axis accelerometer), they should be able to make up for any headset tracking issues when they move out of the camera's view, provided they're in motion. Anything is better than the PlayStation Move controller, but these new Sense Controllers actually look pretty great. As for the PS VR2 release date, we're still unsure about that. The likelihood is some time this year as TechRadar notes, "Hardware analyst Brad Lynch spotted that a well respected Chinese supply chain analyst shared the news that manufacturer Goertek will be in charge of producing the PSVR 2 headsets, and that mass production could start soon." Still, that's pretty nebulous.

  20. https://www.pcgamer.com/2021-was-such-a-bad-year-for-budget-hardware-even-the-lowspec-gamer-gave-up-on-it/ Six years ago, a YouTube channel called LowSpec Gamer debuted with a video on how to run Batman: Arkham Origins on a low-end PC. Its host Alex had been born in Venezuela, where top-shelf gaming hardware was unaffordable, and his subsequent videos on how to downgrade games with tweaks to configuration files, mods, and other hacks proved just as useful to a global audience of impoverished students, broke kids, and anyone who couldn't afford a high-end gaming rig. Even cashed-up players could enjoy seeing what happens to, say, Red Dead Redemption 2 when faces become an optional extra. Things are different these days. While component shortages make it hard to get hold of the best kit, hardware manufacturers haven't exactly fallen over themselves to provide budget alternatives (AMD did just announce the RX 6500 XT, a graphics card that costs $US199, but we'll see how long they remain in stock for). It should be the perfect time for games that are tweakable enough to run on a variety of hardware, yet they aren't being released that way. As Alex says in the video above, "For 80% of the cases I can't find a single thing that is worth changing that will actually make the game more playable in a low-end system." Over the course of 2021 he continued researching videos, spending weeks or months picking apart big-budget games, "only to figure out one thing that actually works and then deliver a video to a comments section that complains that it's too little." If You Need to Kill Time on Your Computer, this City-Building Game is a Must-Have. No Install. Forge of Empires - Free Online Game He pivoted to making more videos about handheld PCs instead—and then the Steam Deck was announced. Until its release, Alex says, there's not much point exploring more expensive alternatives. "For the last year making videos has been feeling like pushing a boulder up a hill and the hill keeps getting steeper and steeper as time goes on with no rest whatsoever." What kept him going was a video about a classic low-spec machine, Game Boy, in which he pulled apart both the object and the history of its creation. He enjoyed making that so much, he's planning to focus on more "LowSpec Lore" videos like it, rather than continuing to break the graphics of Warzone or whatever. It'll be a shame to lose the LowSpec Gamer when so many people are limited in the hardware they can buy, but I'd hate to see Alex continue throwing himself against uncooperative games until he burns out. I'm glad he's found a new passion, even if it falls outside the realm of PC gaming. The comments under Alex's latest video are a rare collection of wholesomeness, with viewers saying things like, "Your channel helped me play modern games on that 640x480, 20fps had never felt so good", and "This guy is the reason I grew up playing so many games on my potato laptop, thank you." It's only because of Alex that I got to play Skyrim and The Witcher 3 on a cheap laptop myself Jody's first computer was a Commodore 64, so he remembers having to use a code wheel to play Pool of Radiance. A former music journalist who interviewed everyone from Giorgio Moroder to Trent Reznor, Jody also co-hosted Australia's first radio show about videogames, Zed Games. He's written for Rock Paper Shotgun, The Big Issue, GamesRadar, Zam, Glixel, and Playboy.com, whose cheques with the bunny logo made for fun conversations at the bank. Jody's first article for PC Gamer was published in 2015, he edited PC Gamer Indie from 2017 to 2018, and actually did play every Warhammer videogame.

  22. https://www.techradar.com/news/this-eagerly-awaited-microsoft-teams-update-has-been-delayed Fluent Design is Microsoft's design language that the company is rolling out to Windows 11 and other apps throughout the year. But Microsoft Teams is going to have to wait slightly longer for its own update for Fluent emojis. The update was scheduled for November 2021, but it looks as though emoji, and other features, will be coming soon in a significant update for Teams users. Its online collaboration platform is reaching its fifth year in 2022, with the pandemic being a significant part of its growth of 250 million users so far. However, with Skype still being maintained by Microsoft as well, the new features for Teams need to differentiate itself from being a good platform for businesses to an essential one. Forge of Empires - Free Online Game A fluent delay of features While Fluent design has been available for Windows 11 and Office 2022, it's also expanded to other apps, such as Paint, Calendar, and other apps by Microsoft. However, Teams is scheduled to reap the benefits of Fluent design in February, alongside live transcripts of calls, better meeting options, and other features that are coming to the app in 2022. Video filters were also delayed from August to March this year, where you can customize your appearance before joining a conference call. Many of these features should prove useful to many, but it depends if some of these are further delayed so that the Fluent design can be finished for Teams in March. 23. https://www.pcgamer.com/samsungs-new-curved-gaming-monitor-has-some-tricks-up-its-screen/ Samsung, ahead of CES 2022, has announced it will be taking curved monitors into some super ergonomic territory, in the form of the Odyssey Ark. With active backlighting, a tight 1000R [CENSORED]ture, and heaps of adjustability, it's looking to be a highly versatile addition to the gaming monitor morass. And it comes with a few nifty tricks, too. At 55-inches, this is a vast 'vertical cockpit-style rotating display' and should make the most of its 4K resolution. Interestingly, Samsung has added the option to adapt the screen size within the panel. Essentially, when you reduce the resolution or veer from the screen's standard 16:9 ratio, you'll have the option to leave the unused pixels off, rather than scaling up to fit the entire screen. The Samsung Odyssey Ark side on in portrait view The feature works like when you watch a movie in letterbox format, except the spare pixels are not only black, but inactive—great for saving energy, I'm sure. The Odyssey Ark will even offer 'multiview' options in this mode, similar to Windows 11's window layout feature, so you can decide exactly which pixels you need, and which can be left off. And although there's no word on the refresh rate or response time of the Odyssey Ark, if this trend is anything to go by, we're expecting something impressive. Still, the main focus here is ergonomics. With a height adjustable stand, as well as the ability to pivot and tilt, it's a gaming monitor that should easily integrate into a highly specialised gaming setup, without compromising your health. But we shall see about that when we get our hands on a review model. Screw sports, Katie would rather watch Intel, AMD and Nvidia go at it. 25. https://www.pcgamer.com/foldable-laptop-screens-are-coming-in-2022/ Intel announced that it’s working on a foldable laptop spec during its CES 2022 presentation. While foldable screens aren’t new, they haven’t yet gained traction in the laptop market, which is somewhat strange considering that laptops naturally fold anyway. Intel says the first devices with folding display tech will begin shipping this year. We could see some rather exciting devices and form factors. The spec is a part of Intel’s Evo platform. It’s essentially a set of guidelines that lay out the features and requirements for thin laptops with a long battery life, fast wakeup and modern connectivity. In some ways Evo can be considered Ultrabook 2.0. PR slide detailing the announcement of Intel's foldable laptop spec Foldable laptops open up an interesting range of use cases. You could use one as a tablet, a tabletop like you might use a 2-in-1 or even like a book. You can use one as a standard laptop with a virtual keyboard, or add a keyboard accessory. The latter is something that a gamer would likely use. Devices with foldable screens aren’t new. Several high end smartphones feature the tech, but it is relatively new for laptops, with notable exceptions such as the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold. Microsoft was working on a dual screen Surface device but it never came to fruition. At least not yet anyway. Foldable screens require operating system support, and Windows 11 isn’t yet optimised to support foldable display tech. Without that support, foldable laptops won’t be able to gain a significant foothold. It will surely happen in time, and if Intel’s prediction that devices will appear this year is accurate, then Microsoft surely has it penciled in on the roadmap. Best gaming PC: the top pre-built machines from the pros Best gaming laptop: perfect notebooks for mobile gaming If foldable laptops do become a force in the market, Intel is well positioned. It’s 12th Gen mobile CPUs appear to be strong, and its Arc GPUs are also poised to appear in larger form factors and devices aimed at gamers. As we move forward into 2022, we can expect to see Intel and its partners gradually reveal their foldable laptops. Computex in mid year would seem like a good time to show off some designs. It will be interesting to see how AMD will react, if at all. Don’t forget, there’s also Qualcomm. The company believes it is well positioned to capture some of the laptop market. The mobile space is looking very exciting in 2022. Stay tuned.
