Amazon has made it so that users of the Amazon Fire TV with the pendant design can no longer use the official Amazon Fire TV Game Controller. The controller is incompatible with the Fire TV device after the latest 6.2.5.3 software update for the third-generation device is applied. Scuttlebutt suggests that the Fire TV Cube will also soon lose support for the gamepad. This move wasn't an accident with a new disclaimer at the bottom of the page for the Fire TV Game Controller that reads "not compatible with Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD - Pendant Design, Fire TV Edition smart TVs, or Fire TV Cube." That leaves the only device that is compatible with the Fire TV Game Controller as the Fire TV Stick. The Fire TV Stick is still on sale for $25 for Prime subscribers right now It's unclear why exactly Amazon has removed support of the controller from those devices. Reports indicate that if you have a Fire TV 3 that is running software version 6.2.1.3, the previous version of the software, the Fire TV Controller still connects and works without issue. Another odd tidbit with this is that while the disclaimer says that the Fire TV Game Controller doesn't work with the Fire TV Cube, it is still working as of the latest 6.2.2.4 software according to reports. That particular Fire TV Cube update started rolling out to devices this week. Older devices do still support the game controller including Fire TV 1, Fire TV 2, Fire TV Stick 1. The only current generation device that has official support for the controller is the current generation Fire TV Stick 2. As for why support is being dropped, there is no definitive answer from Amazon. Speculation is that it has to do with the complexity of maintaining support for the odd Wi-Fi Direct connection method the controller uses. It's unclear if Amazon has a new version of the controller in the works that will support current devices.

Protesters have taken to one of Cape Town's most picturesque beaches after private security guards were accused of ordering black visitors to leave.The guards, hired by local residents, allegedly cleared the Clifton 4th beach of tourists last Sunday evening.Demonstrators say black beachgoers were unfairly targeted, but the firm denies closing the beach and says it only acts to protect residents from crime.Beaches and other public areas were segregated during the apartheid era.Cape Town Mayor Dan Plato said that the security firm "had no authority to ask anyone to leave Clifton beach"."We will not allow any private organisations to limit access to our public spaces," he said in a statement.Deputy Police Minister Bongani Mkongi vowed to "go hard on the security company"."This is a property of the state, property of the people and therefore we don't need security companies here," he said.Mayor Plato said that the guards had "asked people of all races to leave" and had not targeted black people specifically.Demonstrators, who converged on the beach on Friday evening, disputed this assertion."These private security guards... are actually briefed to not allow black people who appear to look like they are from the townships on to the beach," local activist Chumani Maxwele told the News 24 website.Mr Maxwele, who instigated a social media protest under the hashtag #ReclaimClifton, oversaw the slaughter of a sheep in a ritual that protesters said would cleanse the beach of racism.A small number of animal rights activists protested against the act.Alwyn Landman, chief executive of the PPA security firm, whose job he said was to protect residents from criminal activity, denied that the company had closed the beach at all.He told News 24 that police had cleared the area after a crime had been committed."It was absolute mayhem and [the police] were really doing a great job to stabilise the situation," he said.However, the police said they had not received any reports of criminal activity on the beach on Sunday evening
