  2. From being fat shamed to being targeted for her fashion choices, Sara Ali Khan has often been subjected to trolls on social media. But never before did the trolls affect her. Things, however, changed after the trailer of her upcoming film Love Aaj Kal released. In one of the scenes of the trailer, Sara is seen telling Kartik, "Tum mujhe tang karne lage ho." Many memes were made on this scene and Sara was criticised for her performance in this particular shot. In a recent interview with Film Companion, the Simmba actress opened up on dealing with trolls and how it all affected her. Love Aaj Kal also stars Kartik Aaryan in a lead role and is directed by Imtiaz Ali. She said, "I don't mind being trolled for being fat. I don't mind if you troll me for wearing a cap. But I am here to act. That is my job. That is my profession. That is serious. So, when I am trolled for that, suddenly, with all the confidence still intact, it is harder for me to sit there and say ignore the trolls. For the first time, it actually kind of hurts. It hit me." Explaining the process of shooting, Sara said, "We were not allowed to see the monitor. So, I had no idea what it was looking like. I've spoken to Imtiaz sir about this and what's also happened is the fact that I don't look good in that. When it comes to trolling for overacting, I'll be honest with you...not only was I acutely aware of what my character had to feel but Imtiaz sir made me feel exactly what Zoe had to feel at in that point of time. That was not a ham shot on our part. I was really crying. I felt like how Zoe would have been feeling at that moment in time. I did what came to me organically at that point in time," she added. Talking about the standards that a heroine has to maintain in the film industry, Sara said, "It is not a pretty shot. It is the archetype of the heroine ki rote waqt, marte waqt, khate waqt...kuch bhi karo aapko acha lagna chahiye." Concluding, she said, "There is only learning to go from here."

  12. The 2G internet services will be restored in all 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir from midnight. A resident said, "This will be a huge relief. In the age of connectivity, Kashmiri's were cut off from the world. The access to the government-provided kiosk is a struggle. At least checking mails for the official purpose will be possible. I just hope the connectivity will be restored completely soon." The social media applications will continue to remain out of bounds for the Valley's residents. A home department order issued late Friday stated, Access shall be limited to whitelisted sites and not to any social media applications allowing peer to peer communication and Virtual Private Network Application. The 2G mobile internet services were earlier restored in all ten districts of Jammu and two districts of Kashmir, Kupwara, and Bandipora. Further, voice call and SMS services have been restored for all pre-paid connections across the Union Territory, the principal secretary of J&K administration Rohit Kansal had said earlier. Telecom services were shut in the entire Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 when the Centre abrogated the special status to the erstwhile state and also bifurcated it into two Union Territories. However, the Supreme Court came down heavily on the UT administration for arbitrarily shutting down the internet, the facility described as the fundamental right by the court.

The actress received the Crystal Award as the audience cheered for her. Deepika gave a powerful speech at the event, opening up on her battle with depression and anxiety. She talked about how her own struggle encouraged her to work towards spreading awareness on mental health. She is the founder of Live Love Laugh foundation that helps people suffering from depression. She said, "In the time it has taken me to accept this award, the world has lost one more person to suicide. One trillion dollars is the estimated impact of depression and mental illness on the world economy." She then talked about the first time she experienced anxiety and how, on her mother's insistence, she sought professional help. "Depression is a common medical illness. It is important to understand that anxiety and depression are like any other illness and are treatable. Acceptance is the first step to recovery. It was the experience with this illness that encouraged me to set up Live Love Laugh," she said.

  21. TikTok, a video-sharing social networking app, has dethroned Facebook to become the second most downloaded app in the world in 2019. The platform owned by China-based ByteDance had a stupendous year and came second to Whatsapp in terms of downloads. As per market analyst Sensor Tower’s ranking, both TikTok and its Chinese counterpart Douyin amassed a total of 740 million downloads in 2019. The reports consist of worldwide downloads for Google Play Store, iPhone and iPad. They, however, did not include data from Apple apps, pre-installed Google apps and Android downloads from third-party stores based in China. One of its competitors, Likee, a similar platform owned by Singapore based Bigo featured amongst the top 10 with over 330 million downloads. Surprisingly, the majority of Likee users belonged to India. TikTok witnessed a jump in numbers by 13 per cent from the 655 million downloads the app saw in 2018. Although the company is fidgeting to monetize the app, it had a successful year in terms of revenue grossing over $176.9 million in 2019. Interestingly, India contributes majorly to TikTok's growing po[CENSORED]rity, 44 percent of total downloads made in 2019 were by Indians. A Tech In Asia report stated that TikTok is considering the option of building a new feed for advertisers that would include content created by professional publishers on TikTok. Meenakshi Tiwari, an analyst at Forrester told the daily that monetization remains a challenge for the app. Short video has been po[CENSORED]rized by TikTok for sure, but bigger social networking platforms like Facebook and Instagram are aware of it and are doing something about it. TikTok, despite being a po[CENSORED]r app in India, was once banned because of its divisive nature. The app came under the scanner after the Madras High Court claimed that app exposes children to sexual predators, pornographic content and various other harmful activities. However, TikTok assured that they have addressed their concerns and removed inappropriate content present in the app. Following which the ban was lifted and the app was available for download in Google Play Store and App Store. The ban hampered TikTok’s rapid growth as the downloads dropped by over 33 percent. The parent company ByteDance had revealed that it lost over $500,000 in revenue each day when TikTok was blocked in India.
