  2. Regardless of whether you're working from home or have already returned to the office, online collaboration software like Google Docs makes it easier to work with others to get your job done. First released back in 2006, Google Docs was created after Google's acquisition of the web-based word processor Upstartle. As Google Docs is a web application first and foremost, it can be accessed from Google, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari or any other compatible browser. Over time the search giant has added new features such as speech-to-text, comments, the ability to edit Microsoft Office files and even an all-new top-level-domain called .new to make it even easier to get started working in Google Docs. We've assembled a list of the best free office software around These are the best productivity tools on the market Also check out our roundup of the best online collaboration software RECOMMENDED VIDEOS FOR YOU... video playing Galaxy S21 | Everything you need to know 26/01/21 Galaxy S21 Ultra | Everything you need to... 26/01/21 IPhone 12 Pro | Everything you need to... 24/12/20 AirPods Max | Everything you need to know in 1... 24/12/20 PS5 | Everything you need to know in 1 minute 14/12/20 In a new update on the Google Workspace blog though, Google has announced that it will soon be even easier to find out who changed what in a shared document. (Image credit: Google) Show Editors As part of the latest update to Google Docs, you can now view richer information on the edit history of a particular range of content in a document. To get started using this new feature, users simply need to highlight a portion of text, right-click and select “Show Editors” from the dropdown menu. From here, Google Docs will show you a list of editors along with their latest edit complete with time stamps. There is also an option to navigate directly to a document's Version History if you want to see even more details on what changes were made. With the release of its new Show Editors feature, Google has made it easier to track edits made by multiple collaborators to provide users with greater insight into who the recent editors were, what changes were made and when they were made.
  3. Save $55 on EVGA's SuperNova 550W PSU with 80 Plus Gold certification and a long 10-year warranty. (Image credit: EVGA) I'm fully aware that now is not the best time in the world to build a PC, with so many parts being difficult to come by at fair market value. It gets a little easier if you're piecing together a mid-range gaming PC (at least on the CPU side of things), though, and if that's your goal, EVGA's SuperNova 550 GA power supply is worth a look. It's on sale at Amazon for $64.99, down from its $119.99 list price. This model was selling for its full list price for the past couple of weeks, and before that, it typically fluctuated between around $75 to $105, depending on the day. The current discount is the least expensive it has ever been. GO FOR THE GOLD EVGA SuperNova 550W PSU | 80 Plus Gold | Fully Modular | $119.99 $64.99 at Amazon (save $55) This is a great option for a build based on, say, a GeForce RTX 3060. It's a high-efficiency unit with fully modular cabling, and is backed by a long 10-year warranty.VIEW DEAL There's a lot to like about this PSU. For one, it's a name brand unit. It is also 80 Plus Gold certified, which means it is a high-efficiency model, and EVGA backs it with a generous 10-year warranty. It's always nice to see a long warranty, not just for the extended coverage, but because it reflects confidence in the model on the part of the manufacturer. This is a fully modular unit too. That's great for cable management, and being fully modular rather than semi-module (where the main power cables are permanently attached) can sometimes make building inside tight confines a little easier. Whether 550W is enough depends on your build. You're not going to want to try and power a GeForce RTX 3090 with this PSU, though it should be able to handle at least a GeForce RTX 3060 with no issue. Nvidia recommends a 600W PSU for the Ti variant and a 650W for the GeForce RTX 3070, though I've seen the latter run just fine on a 550W PSU (your mileage may vary, of course). 4. The Epic v Apple lawsuit that began this week has given us an impressive collection of corporate documents to sift through, almost like some kind of box containing loot. Within a review of performance and strategy dated October 25, 2019, there's a section on the Borderlands 3 deal, disclosing that the looter-shooter's six-month exclusivity period cost Epic $115 million. That includes a $15 million marketing commitment, $20 million in non-recoupable fees, and an $80 million minimum guarantee—an advance paid ahead of the game going on sale. Borderlands 3 sold well enough to reach that guarantee within two weeks, with a recoupable revenue of $100 million in the period. A graph of the Epic store's daily revenue across its first 11 months peaks dramatically with its launch. Of the 1.56 million Borderlands players Epic picked up in those two weeks, 53% were apparently new to the store rather than returning customers. (Image credit: Epic) The document also shows that Epic paid $11 million for its free giveaway of the Handsome Collection, a bundle containing Borderlands 2, the Pre-Sequel, and most of their DLC (excluding Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary, released after the collection was created). That one freebie cost almost as much as Epic spent on the first nine months of giveaways, which it paid more than $11 million for. 5. Microsoft Teams has unveiled a host of new features aimed at making meetings "more engaging, inclusive, and productive." The video conferencing platform has seen a huge rise in users over the past year as employees have been forced to work from home during pandemic lockdowns, and is now looking to offer even more advantages to those workers aiming to collaborate out of the office. The new additions include live transciptions for Microsoft Teams meetings, as well as a way to share quick recaps of a call, and improved poll management and access. Although only available in US English for the time being, the feature looks to boost accessibility for call participants who may have hearing issues or other disabilities, as well as those who may not have full language proficiency. (Image credit: Microsoft) Microsoft says that anyone joining a meeting after it has started will now be able to quickly review what has been said before they joined, and can even search for specific speakers - although participants will be able to opt out of being identified in transcripts if they wish. After a call has finished, Microsoft Teams can now also provide a recap of everything that happened during the meeting, allowing those who missed the call or want to revisit a specific area to catch up. A report containing a recording of the meeting, as well as a transcript, chat message, and all attached files will be shared with participants in the meeting Chat tab and viewable in the Details tab. (Image credit: Microsoft) Microsoft says the meeting recap function for Microsoft Teams has already begun rolling out, with live transcriptions can also be toggled on by tenant admins now. Lastly, Microsoft Teams polls are getting an upgrade, particularly for mobile users. Going forward, meeting presenters and organizers will be able to set two new poll types — open text and multiple-choice quiz. The platform will also now offer intelligent suggestions, making it easier to create polls, and can also provide post-meeting insights to help users spot trends and take action. Microsoft says the new poll features will be available to Teams users within the next few weeks. Working from home: the mouse, monitor, keyboard and router you need
  6. By this point, you'll be painfully aware of how excruciatingly difficult it can be trying to purchase a graphics card. Trying to get hold of the likes of Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3080, especially managing to find one for MSRP, it's like grasping at liquid silicon. Yep, the state of PC building is a shambles, but EVGA is trying its best to provide hope, if only for those who are loyal to the manufacturer. BOARD WALK (Image credit: MSI) Best gaming motherboard: the best boards around Best AMD motherboard: your new Ryzen's new home Essentially the company has decided to reward customer loyalty and engagement with exclusive access to new hardware releases, some discounts and, perhaps even more excitingly, the potential to make some money. The only catch is that you have to have made two qualifying EVGA purchases in the last 12 months, or have been actively participating in EVGA's community—there's no specified timescale for the latter, though. To qualify for Elite membership through community involvement, in this instance, just means either having watched enough EVGA Twitch streams to have accumulated 5,000 E-points, or having posted 100 posts on the EVGA forum. According to the EVGA Elite page, "As an Elite Member you can now enjoy a full day of exclusive access to all new EVGA products. All EVGA ELITE Members will now have the first 24 hours of a NEW product launch to purchase or enter the queue system!" Moreover, Elite members will gain access to exclusive deals, which can be found on the site's Elite savings page. Unsurprisingly, there are no GPUs on the list, but it does include a few decent PSUs, a GPU and CPU cooling solution, as well as some nifty streaming kit. They aren't blow-me-away savings; I wouldn't go and buy something from the store just to nab the discount. But if this is the only way I'll have a chance to get my hands on an RTX 3080 Ti when May rolls around, I might have to take it. However, alongside the pre-launch exclusive access, there's another potential benefit for Elite members that's piqued my interest: making moneys. Through the EVGA Associates program, it's now possible to earn a percentage of referred customer revenue. Once you're signed up to Elite, you just share your code with anyone wanting to buy EVGA gear, and get rewarded EVGA Bucks when they make their purchase. This is great news if you're already part of the club, and want to spend your earnings solely on the EVGA store, but those who haven't qualified have got some work to do. At least this is a pretty nice way for EVGA to lend a helping hand to its fans, among the host of ways the world is trying to deal with the GPU shortage. 7. BioWare is still busy promoting this month's release of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, but that doesn't mean Dragon Age-likers don't also get a look-in, with another bit of concept art reminding everyone Dragon Age 4 is a real thing that's really being worked on. While previous concepts have shown us an arcane archer and an urban wizard, the latest depicts a Grey Warden in full armor—and cape. This latest hint of what to expect from Dragon Age 4 came after creative director Matthew Goldman tweeted "I'm feeling really gray and pointy right now" at executive producer Christian Dailey, who replied with the Grey Warden image. While the Grey Wardens were central to Dragon Age: Origins they've slipped into the background since—in Inquisition you get the option to recruit the remnants of the darkspawn-hunting club—but perhaps this is a hint they'll return to prominence in the next game? The Dragon Age games have shied away from flowy fantasy capes in the past, presumably because they still can't do long hair without it clipping through your armor, and a selection of fantasy cloaks would be even harder to get right. You can quote The Incredibles at me all you want, but I'm in favor of capes coming to Dragon Age, having already modded them into Skyrim so I can cosplay Aragorn. Here's everything we know about Dragon Age 4. Stay tuned!” Better late than never With more people working from home than ever before, video conferencing software has seen a boom over the past year with Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams garnering the most attention. However, messaging apps like Facebook Messenger, Discord, WhatsApp and others have also been used for video calls. Telegram just added the ability to make one-on-one video calls using its platform back in August of last year and at that time, group video calls weren't supported. In a blog post published last April, the company compared the po[CENSORED]rity of video calls in 2020 to messaging in 2013. However, Telegram was quick to point out how important security is for group video calls and that could be why it has waited so long to add the feature. Beginning next month though, Telegram users will be able to participate in group video calls as well as video conferencing with others using the service. While we don't yet know how this feature will work or look, Durov did mention encryption, noise-cancellation and desktop and tablet support in his post. The added security that Telegram intends to bring to video conferencing could entice users to test out the feature once it goes live but we'll have to wait and see whether or not it catches on.
  10. AMD might have cancelled this year's expected new Ryzen CPUs, according to the YouTube channel RedGamingTech, citing unnamed, but previously reliable sources. The Zen 3+ refresh, reportedly code-named Warhol, was due in the latter part of this year, but has apparently disappeared from some roadmaps. The main reason given for this is the current supply problems affecting the whole industry, which makes sense, although it could also have been simply left off the roadmaps in error. One of the most intriguing aspects of this Zen 3+ refresh is that it is down to use TSMC's 6nm production process. At least it is according to some slides, older slides still had it down to use the same 7nm process that Zen 3 used. This is somewhat of an odd process for AMD to use, as that node doesn't offer much in the way of a performance boost, and Zen 4 is still down to use TSMC's 5nm production process. The newer node, named 6N by TSMC, is only a tweaked version of the 7N process AMD currently uses, but is design-compatible with the previous designs. So it's not like it was a node that AMD felt it needed to try out before its next big launch. Still, AMD shifted from 14nm to 12nm for its Zen+ refresh, so it isn't unheard of. The Zen 3+ refresh wasn't expected to offer any serious architectural changes, rather some single-digit IPC improvements to keep AMD's chips competitive with Intel's offerings. Intel is definitely the company to watch this year as it releases one of its biggest gambles in processor design in recent memory with the launch of Alder Lake. These are the CPUs that have the big.LITTLE hybrid design (traditional cores paired with efficient Atom-based cores), as well as offering support for DDR5 and PCI Express 5.0. Zen 4, which offers the same PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 support isn't due until next year, which means Intel potentially has as much as a year-long lead for anyone looking to jump on these next-generation technologies. Intel is also promising big things for Alder Lake when it comes to performance, but we'll have to wait and see on that front. It's a whole new design for a desktop chip and feels like a hell of a gamble for Intel. See more It's too early to say for sure whether this potential—and unofficially announced—Zen 3+ refresh has been canned, but this may give AMD the opportunity to focus on its current Zen 3 lineup instead, and push to get those processors in shops. We're still holding out hope that we'll see Zen 3-based APUs appearing this year as well, which AMD has promised to offer out to DIY enthusiasts too. They're definitely ones to get out during a GPU crisis after all. 11. Free-to-play battle royale hybrid Scavengers had a bit of a rocky start in Early Access this week, due to issues with servers and Steam keys. Keys could only be claimed by watching streamers playing the game Twitch, and some viewers never got theirs. Also, Scavengers actually ran out of Steam keys to distribute. There were, as there often are with new games, some server crashing issues as well. So a bit of a messy soft launch, but sounds like the server issues have been resolved, and even better, players won't have to watch Twitch streams or keep checking their inboxes for a key. At the start of the year, the company announced a new-look search functionality for the Edge PDF reader. But now, new features discovered in early-access builds have hinted at further changes that could make Edge the go-to browser for PDF users. The upgrades are expected to roll out with an upcoming iteration of Edge, which currently receives a full stable build roughly every four to five weeks, on top of smaller weekly updates. Microsoft is also working on behind-the-scenes changes to address issues with selecting text. Historically, highlighting text on PDF documents has been a little tricky and the experience varies from document to document, but new Edge improvements should deliver greater smoothness and consistency. Finally, Edge is set to receive new functionality that allows for signatures on PDF documents to be validated, which businesses in particular will celebrate. As it stands, only advanced PDF software - such as Adobe Acrobat - support e-signature functionality, but Microsoft Edge looks set to close the gap.
  15. We're still cautiously optimistic that a new cryptocurrency called Chia (not to be confused with the pet plants) will not actually lead to a shortage of SSDs and HDDs, but seeing this monstrosity of a motherboard pop up could be cause for concern. It sports 32 SATA ports and is looking like the ideal candidate for a Chia mining farm. You see, Chia differs from cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum in that it is built around a cryptographic technique called proof of space and time, rather than leveraging a proof of work model. To mine it, miners tap into unused storage space, as opposed to employing GPUs or specialized ASIC hardware. The worst case scenario for PC gamers is that Chia takes off in a big way and ravages the HDD and SSD market, creating yet another hardware category shortage and piling onto the already tragic state of PC building in 2021. But that's getting way ahead of ourselves. It's just as likely (and maybe even more so) that Chia sees an initial surge of po[CENSORED]rity when it becomes available to trade next week, then settles into the background. Seagate hinted at this possibility, saying it has seen an "uptick in demand" for its storage products because of cryptocurrency mining (and presumably Chia), but added "it's a little early in this to know how prolonged" it will be. And outside of China, where dealers are hoarding storage products in hopes of cashing in down the line, pricing and availability of HDDs and SSDs seem stable. Fingers crossed it stays that way. To be clear, this is not necessarily intended specifically for Chia. Onda's been churning out unique motherboards with oodles of SATA connectivity for nearly a decade at least—the earliest example I can find is a Reddit thread from 2013 highlighting the B250 D32-D3, also with 32 SATA ports. It's also worth noting that this newer variant is based on Intel's B365 chipset, which is over two years old at this point. Chia has been around since 2018 as well, but there is no evidence to suggest this motherboard exists specifically for cryptocurrency mining. According to Chidaolian, which first discovered this motherboard, the 32 SATA ports support up to 448TB of storage space. There's also an M.2 slot. The elongated shape means it requires a special case—it measures 530mm by 320mm (20.9 inches by 12.6 inches), making it quite a bit larger than even an extended ATX (E-ATX) motherboard. Other features include dual LAN ports, HDMI and VGA outputs, various USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, PCI Express x16 and x1 slots (one each), and two DIMM slots supporting up to 32GB of DDR4-2800 memory. There's no mention of price, though according to WCCFTech, it's already found its way into the hands of Chia miners.

Instead, anything highlighted will disappear over time which allows a presenter to direct participants attention to something on the screen without having to constantly undo or erase their annotations. We've put together a list of the best video conferencing software available These are the best business webcams for working from home Also check out our roundup of the best headsets for conference calls When it comes to annotating on a tablet or smartphone, Zoom has made it easy to create straight lines and perfect shapes in its mobile app with Whiteboard Auto-shapes. This new feature automatically corrects your annotations into their intended shape and can be a valuable tool for live whiteboarding in training meetings as well as during webinars. While the company's software is available with a standard set of six emojis, users can now expand this list to gain access to Zoom's full list of emojis for reactions. However, on larger accounts, the full emoji set must be enabled by admins and account owners. When it comes to devices, Zoom has made some upgrades to both Zoom Rooms and Zoom Phone. As Facebook has added support for Zoom on its Portal TV webcam, users can now connect with their colleagues, friends and family using their TVs. At the same time though, Zoom Phone customers will now be able to trigger and receive mass notifications using InformaCast from Singlewire Software to stay informed about crisis events and other emergencies. Although Zoom first rose to mass po[CENSORED]rity during the early stages of the pandemic, the company has consistently added new features to its video conferencing service to help it stay ahead of Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and other competitors in the space.
  19. MSI has released a new all-in-one (AIO) cooler, the MPG CoreLiquid K series, that has a fan integrated into the CPU block to help cool the area around the CPU. It also features a 2.4-inch LCD on top of the CPU block, which can be used to show CPU info among other things—useful if you're the type to gaze longingly into your machine when playing games. There are two models on the way, the MPG CoreLiquid K240 and the MPG CoreLiquid K360, the difference being whether it's a double or triple-fan cooling arrangement on the radiator. The water block itself features an Asetek 7th gen pump, while the radiators employ MSI's Torx Fan 4.0 chillers. These fans offer up ARGB lighting to add a bit of bling to your build as well, because this is 2021, and of course they do. MSI MPG CoreLiquid K360 Thermals (Image credit: MSI) It looks like a fairly standard AIO then, albeit one with a screen, but it's that water block fan that caught my eye, as it should help keep the VRMs next to the CPU socket that little bit cooler. In fact, MSI includes a thermal image of the difference it makes with the press release, that sees the VRMs (the voltage regulars modules responsible for providing a clean signal to the CPU) running nearly 27°C cooler. Even if your case has a fan installed at the back of the case above the CPU area, it tends to aid in overall airflow through the case and does very little for those VRMs. CHIP CHILLERS CPU Coolers (Image credit: Corsair, Noctua) These are the best CPU coolers for any new build or system upgrade. This isn't a problem that affects traditional CPU coolers, as they cool the area around the CPU as a side effect of their main job. While the benefits of AIO definitely outweigh this downside, MSI's solution of installing a fan into the water block seems like the best of both worlds. This kind of cooler is also worth considering if your primary M.2 SSD slot is between the CPU and the graphics card, as the fan will aid airflow here as well. Running SSDs on a 5600X system using the bundled Wraith Stealth cooler saw temperatures as much as 20°C lower than on the same motherboard using an AIO. That's a significant difference when SSDs can start throttling when they get too hot. The MSI MPG CoreLiquid K series is available now and we'll be looking at it for review shortly.
  20. Here's a charming little indie: Devil Slayer - Raksasi is a top-down action roguelike that's a bit like what you'd get if you smashed together the dungeon crawling of The Binding of Isaac with the timing-based combat of a soulslike. Developer GlassesCatGames, a three-person studio out of Guangzhou, China, has put the game through the Early Access wringer over the past few years and just released it this week. Is it as good as Dark Souls and Binding of Isaac? Of course not, you goof. Those are two of the best games of the last decade. But it's pretty fun nonetheless. Those hankering for a run-based, build-based roguelike crawler will find what they're looking for here, with a slew of different characters to unlock and skills to level up. There's all kinds of fun stuff to master, with each character having a different set of weapons to learn alongside their customization and skill upgrade paths over multiple runs. Plus, it has this lady who has a large hammer and whoops butt. I like her. Devil Slayer Raksasi characters in combat (Image credit: GlassesCatGames) As of now, there's a lot to grind away at in Devil Slayer, which I appreciate at the pretty low price of $12—$9.45 on sale until April 29th. As you get better your speed of progression really cranks up. There are currently six game chapters with 150 enemy types total, and though I've only seen some of them I'm definitely going to keep playing. A seventh, epilogue chapter is in production.
