  6. Now Gamescom is over and new floods of FIFA 20 gameplay has come out, here is absolutely everything we know so far about the upcoming EA title FIFA 20: FIFA 20 is edging closer to release, and it’s about this time we can expect EA Sports to push out as many announcements to keep the momentum and the hype going. Over the past couple of weeks, news has finally dropped regarding the biggest changes we have seen in FIFA Career Mode in over a decade, the Cover Stars have been revealed, Volta News and fresh updates to Ultimate Team. In addition to all of this, the FIFA 20 Beta has dropped. The beta has been made available to selected FIFA players in the UK and the US. For those who opted in to receive emails from EA, they will get a code sent to the email address linked to their EA account and will jump in and play until August 21st, 2019 (not long left to go!) once the code is redeemed. Redeem your PlayStation 4 code. Redeem your Xbox One code. EA has also announced the release of the FUT Web App on September 18th, 2019. The web app is used to buy and sell players on the transfer market, open FUT packs and build your squads. With Gamescom, Europe’s largest gaming festival, on the horizon, we’re excited to hear what else is in store for us. Release Date: EA Sports are very consistent with their release dates, and once again the final Friday in September will mark the full release of FIFA 20. This year, that will be Friday, 27 September 2019, but we can expect types of early access too. The Standard Edition – fronted by Eden Hazard – costs £54.99 on PC and £59.99 on PS4 and Xbox One. By pre-ordering you will receive up to three FIFA 20 Ultimate Team rare gold packs (one per week for three weeks), choose one of five mid-version ICON items for five FUT matches and special Edition FUT Kits. Early Access: That release date only applies to the Standard Edition, however. Both the Champions & Ultimate Editions of the game are available three days earlier on September 24. The Champions Edition, with Champions League winner Virgil van Dijk on the cover, is priced at £69.99 on PC and £79.99 on PS4 and Xbox One, and it will get you up to 12 FIFA 20 Ultimate Team rare gold packs (one per week for 12 weeks) as well as the three days early access. Lastly, the Ultimate Edition, complete with cover star Zinedine Zidane, will set you back £79.99 on PC and £89.99 on PS4 and Xbox One. It comes with an untradeable FUT 20 Ones To Watch player item and up to 24 FIFA 20 Ultimate Team rare gold packs (two per week for 12 weeks). Those who sign up to EA Access get eight hours of gameplay around one week before the game comes out, and this year that will be eight days early from September 19. The demo for the game only tends to come out two weeks before the game’s full release, so this should be on September 12, 2019. Expect similar teams to last year where we had Manchester City, Tottenham, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Roma, Borussia Dortmund and PSG to choose from. Bayern Munich, Juventus and Manchester United have all signed deals with rivals PES 2020 so they will not return on the demo, but Liverpool have done the opposite, so expect the Reds to be on there. First FIFA 20 Trailer: The first trailer for FIFA 20 dropped during EA Play at E3, and it revealed the huge new feature Volta Football. A few other aspects that were announced during the EA Play Stream included enhanced dribbling, improved 1v1s and overhauled free kicks and penalties. Volta Football: EA Sports recently released a trailer showcasing over 17 locations around the world including Tokyo, Amsterdam, Barcelona and London. The Tokyo Rooftop, though, is our pick of the bunch – with floodlights beaming through the neon-filled skyline. It’ll be the arena we will use most for sure. The community have been calling for a street mode on FIFA or a return to FIFA Street for some time, with the Journey teasing street-esque football in recent years. Well, the prayers have been answered with Volta Football arriving for FIFA 20. Volta, meaning 'tempo' in Italian, takes FIFA back to the streets, with the mode enabling games to play 3v3, 4v4 and 5v5 matches, with or without goalkeepers. Expect all the skill, close control and use of the walls of the cage, with even a futsal arena a venue option. The new strafe dribbling mechanic is a key feature for both Volta and out on the grass pitch, so you will have plenty of fun skinning defenders. You can create your own male or female character, play online and there is a new Volta Story which replaces The Journey. New controls, cameras and outfits are just the tip if the iceberg, and it is the one huge spelling point FIFA has above rival PES 2020 this year. Volta Football is a great addition, although it will not feature on Nintendo Switch. After FUT Division Rivals didn't feature on Switch last year, EA need be careful not to upset a passionate community. Let's hope that changes for FIFA 21. Simplified Rules In Volta Football there are no substitutions, offsides, injuries, yellow or red cards, or even fatigue/stamina. Match Types The various match types offers a different element and creates a variety of situations different to the 11-a-side game. The match type breakdowns are: Rush Keepers: played in 3v3 and 4v4, Rush is the street mode without Goalkeepers and with small goals, where each player is expected to contribute to all aspects of the game, be it scoring or blocking a shot. Street with Keepers: played in 4v4 and 5v5, is the street mode with Goalkeepers and Futsal-sized goals, which combines the safety of a goalkeeper with the bespoke rules and personality of the street. Futsal is a 5-a-side experience with more authentic rules, referees, and a more structured type of play. The formations available are the same as 5v5 street with keepers. Environments Besides match types, each environment can be customised and provides interesting variations to fixtures. Players can play matches with Walls or No Walls, and pick between various pitch sizes. Specific Rules Volta Football gameplay has unique rules depending on the circumstances of the match. You can combine the rules below, creating very interesting match types. Small-sided matches are quick and fun, with each half being only 3 minutes of real-time playing. The timer only goes down when the ball is in play and each extra-time half is 1 minute of real-time play. Movement and Dynamics Various formations and mentalities affect how your players move and behave inside the pitch. Movement is free-flowing, with players being expected to contribute to most areas of play, be it defensive or offensive. This is especially true in Rush matches, where everyone is expected to be able to score as well as block shots on goal. Custom Ball Physics A new ball has been created for Volta with a different size and weight than the regular game. This small-sided ball rolls more and bounces much less than a full-sized ball. Build Your Player From height and facial features to tattoos and hairstyles create your male or female player with ease and take them across various modes in FIFA 20 using the new Avatar system. Get the traditional athletic look, deck yourself out with the latest streetwear, or break boundaries as you find yours and your squad’s perfect style. Switch it up with limited-time item drops to create unique outfits using the Volta Shop. Take your Avatar onto the street and express your style to the world throughout Volta Football's range of modes. Complete matches to increase your player’s rating and earn skill points. Max out various traits to earn titles that show off your gameplay personality to the world. Play it Your Way Lead you squad in the Volta Tour, guide your avatar through Volta Story Mode, play with your squad in the online VOLTA League, or take your favourite professional teams to the streets in Volta Kick-off. Take your Avatar across the world and face off against various real-world legends of street football. Build your squad and recruit players as you aim to win the ultimate prize: The Volta Football World Championship in Buenos Aires. Online Volta Play your way through promotion and relegation against other players with the online VOLTA League, where wins lead to promotion into a higher division. Gameplay The introduction of Volta Football means there will be an emphasis on close control, and this has been added in the form of the strafe dribbling mechanic. This enables the attacker to move with more agility than ever to lure your opponent in before beating them with speed or skill. Strafe dribbling is just one component of what EA have labelled as Decisive Moments. With these new attacking skills, controlled tackling will bolster the defence, providing more intelligent tackling which increases the chance of winning the ball back. For instance, the defender directing the tackle towards a teammate to ensure they regain the ball. L1/LB for Strafe Dribble L1+R1/LB+RB for Strafe Dribble (lock face angle). Timed finishing is as brilliant as it is frustrating. We all love to see a ball fly into the top corner from 25 yards, but when it happens again and again, the magic is lost. It has now been adjusted, with Composed finishing ensuring one-on-ones are easier, and volleyed efforts are more difficult. New shot trajectories will see shots dip, fade and swerve to add even more realism, as part of the new ball physics for FIFA 20. Football Informed Motion introduces more authentic ball spins and bounces, which will also play in a big role in all the different venues available in Volta as well. The Journey Following on from The Journey, it's time for your avatar became the protagonist. This time however, it is part of the new mode Volta Story. The story will take you through the Volta World, playing matches against various opponents from street football legends, to the diverse and unique players based on community generated Avatars and squads, to professional footballers. You’ll build your squad in the hopes of being invited to the Volta World Championships in Buenos Aires for a chance to win the ultimate small-sided prize. You can create create your avatar, recruit new players, build squads, travel to cool playable environments, face "legends of the street" and compete for special rewards in Volta Skillers - where FIFA's skill games come to Volta. Anything else? For FIFA 19, La Liga followed suit of the Premier League by 16 stadiums and over 200 player arriving on the game. Licenses for the Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1 are already obtained, but it’s time to add more depth and realism to the game. Those three leagues combined have just 11 stadiums between them, something that EA should look to improve.

  7. Watch Dogs Legion is officially the third open-world game in the anarchic, tech-savvy series. Some details leaked ahead of the biggest videogame show on Earth – as is customary for Ubisoft titles by this point – but we still got a chonky reveal at E3 that confirms the leaks and gives us new information on top of that. The first and obvious thing is that it’s not called Watch Dogs 3, as many of us had expected, it’s called Legion. Why Legion? One of the early gameplay features to be shown off gives us the ability to turn any citizen on the street into a playable character. So there’s a bit of an army of hackers vibe going on. The previous game is something of an overlooked gem this generation: Watch Dogs 2’s PC gameplay and tone rivalled even GTA 5 in its best moments, but was swallowed up by the myriad impressive sandbox games that also landed in that time, such as Horizon: Zero Dawn and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Either way, a few years on from the second game, we’re ready for another technologically-enhanced Ubisoft world – as the Watch Dogs Legion release date isn’t too far away, here’s everything we know about the upcoming PC game so far. WATCH DOGS LEGION RELEASE DATE: If you’re itching to get to hacking in London, you won’t have to wait too long. The Watch Dogs Legion release date is March 6, 2020. So, if you’re looking to dive in straight away, get those holiday requests in on the double. We had a slight inkling that we would be getting a new Watch Dogs game around then, a financial report in May 2019 reveals that three of the next Ubisoft games will release before April 2020. WATCH DOGS LEGION TRAILER: It wouldn’t be an E3 reveal without a trailer, of course, and you can catch a glimpse of Ubisoft’s post-Brexit London above. One of the main features to be shown off is the game’s central idea that everyone and anyone is recruitable. Just how true that is remains to be seen, but we’re happy to enjoy old lady Helen’s sleuthing around in the meantime. WATCH DOG LEGION NEWS One of the main tidbits of information to come out of E3 was that Watch Dogs Legion would be coming to Google’s new gaming platform, Google Stadia. Ubisoft’s hack ’em up will still be releasing there March 6, too, which is no different to the PC release date. If you’re into your collectable items, you can fetch yourself a replica skull mask with an LED crown with the Watch Dogs Legion collector’s edition. Do keep in mind, though, that it’ll set you back $189.99. Another way you can play Watch Dogs Legion is through Ubisoft’s upcoming subscription service Uplay Plus. You can expect it to launch in September, and it’ll cost $14.99 per month. There’s a bit of a wait between September 2019 and March 2020, but you can noodle around in Ubisoft’s back catalogue to pass the time, and play games like The Division 2 and Far Cry: New Dawn. We also know that a portion of the Watch Dogs Legion soundtrack is being made with help from actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s crowd-sourced production company hitRECord. Ubisoft put out the call to fans to help produce 10 songs for the soundtrack, with $2,000 USD (£1,590) being paid for each track, which will be split between everyone who contributes to the final version. WATCH DOG LEGION GAMEPLAY Making its return in Watch Dogs Legion is a selection of non-lethal and lethal weaponry. The game’s predecessor leaned a good bit into the former and saw protagonist Marcus knock people out with a stun gun and that yo-yo thing. That said, there was plenty of deadly and loud weapons on offer if that wasn’t your style, from assault rifles to pistols. So, you can expect plenty of variety from Watch Dogs Legion’s guns. Rumours were swirling around before the reveal that lethal guns wouldn’t be coming, but the gameplay trailer above says otherwise. With Watch Dogs Legion’s concept of building an army in mind, it makes sense that you can play Watch Dogs Legion co-op with up to four friends. Multiplayer enthusiasts can expect dedicated online content with missions and side activities, such as bareknuckle boxing, freestyle football, illegal couriering, and posting street art. According to the game’s website, there will also be “challenging endgame content”, alongside “free regular updates adding new online modes, rewards, and themed events”. There’s no word just yet on what that’ll all include, but to us it all sounds quite similar to GTA V Online’s suite of activities, which include multiplayer heists that act as endgame content. If you’d like to see some of this gameplay in action, check out the Watch Dogs Legion gameplay demo above. WATCH DOGS LEGION NPCS We had an idea that recruiting and playing as non-playable characters would be a feature thanks to a pre-E3 Watch Dogs Legion leak on Amazon. The game’s creative director, Clint Hocking, expanded on how the Watch Dogs Legion NPCs work during E3. Hocking explains that each NPC is a unique character that comes with their own backstory, relationships, stats, and abilities. There’s a reason for the attention to detail, though. Watch Dogs Legion has permadeath, so if you’re careless with the NPCs you acquire you’ll feel the sting of their loss as they won’t come back. That’s not all, though, there is also Watch Dogs Legion character schedules – that means that an NPC’s spouse or relative will mourn their loss, but will eventually move on. So, do take care of the poor NPCs you enlist into your war. Sadly, this attention to detail also means that Watch Dogs Legion has no dogs. A shame, as Watch Dogs 2 lets us dote on some wonderful puppers. We’re not the kind of website to let this kind of thing slide, though, so we asked Hocking about it. “When you see the bin man working,” he tells us, “and then you shoot the bin man, we make his sister not like you, and we make his brother not like you. When you see the woman walking her dog and you shoot the woman, we really had to ask ourselves ‘what do we do with the dog?’ “Does someone adopt the dog? Does the dog become a stray? Does it disappear out of the world? That doesn’t seem fair. Do we need to up-res the dog and make the dog a part of the simulation? We already bit off a lot, and we were like ‘I don’t know how we do that. I don’t know how we deal with this problem. And so yeah – no dogs.” WATCH DOGS LEGION SETTING A Watch Dogs 3 London setting has been touted for some time now since it was teased at the end of the previous game. But this isn’t your typical representation of England’s big smoke: Watch Dogs Legion’s setting is confirmed to be a post-Brexit, dystopian London. According to Hocking, however, Ubisoft decided on London as Watch Dogs Legion’s setting before the Brexit debate kicked off in earnest. That said, the studio has embraced what’s happened, and isn’t shying away from what is, admittedly, a tricky political climate. Speaking to PCGN, Hocking explains his stance regarding Watch Dogs Legion’s post Brexit London setting. “Ubisoft as a company has its position,” Hocking says. “But every project has its own operational reality and its own stuff and Ubisoft’s position has a guideline for all of us to follow and our game definitely has something to say and we’re happy to say it.” It’s not all Brexit, though, and Ubisoft has put a lot of thought into the game’s location design. So big is the Watch Dogs Legion map size, apparently, that it stretches from Camden to Brixton. If your feet feel weary at the thought of doing walking that, though, then you’ll be happy to know that there is Watch Dogs Legion fast travel. Of course, the fast travel in the game is represented by the Tube in the London Underground. It is London afterall. If you don’t fancy the tube, however, and want to experience London’s terrible traffic, you can hack and control the city’s infamous black cabs. And there you have it, that’s everything we could rustle up about Watch Dogs Legions. We’re DedSet (geddit?) against a move away from the hacktivist open-world formula we’ve come to love from the series, but we’re looking forward to this third game taking a turn for the edgy in the green and not-so-pleasant lands of post-apocalyptic Blighty.

  8. Pro Evolution Soccer has always trailed the FIFA franchise this decade, and they lost further ground last year, with FIFA 19 snatching the UEFA Champions League and Europa League licenses off Konami. PES 2020 marks a fresh start however, and with EA Sports struggling throughout the year with FIFA 19, it is a massive opportunity for Pro Evo to claw back some ground on their biggest rival. With this the biggest release for PES this decade, the publishers and developers have been keeping their cards close to their chest. RealSport has a look at everything we know so far on PES, and what the community wants to see when the game is released this summer. Release : PES 2020 will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC Steam on September 10, 2019 (Americas/Europe) / September 12 (Asia). Lionel Messi will feature as the cover star for the standard edition, priced at £59.99, and players can also get their hands on the digital exclusive Legend Edition, featuring Brazilian icon Ronaldinho for £79.99. Other bonuses of the Legend Edition include an exclusive 3D-scanned 2019 version of Ronaldinho and Messi on a 10-match loan for myClub. Everyone who pre-orders either digital edition of the game will get Andres Iniesta and 1,000 myClub coins on top. Trailer : Gameplay : Enlisting the expertise of legendary midfielder Andres Iniesta has shaped the latest instalment with a focus on authenticity, translating his ability to find and read space, and unlock a defensive line with a new dynamic dribbling technique; the finesse dribble. Renowned as one of football’s most entertaining players, Ronaldinho’s unique style of football is also coming to PES 2020, featuring animation sets that allow players to move like the man himself, using unparalleled technical flair and fluid movement to beat defenders, together with showboat first-touch techniques such as chest and back control. Brand new Matchday online mode With the full title of the new game eFootball PES 2020 there is a clear focus on competitive gaming. In a brand-new mode for PES 2020, Matchday provides the essence of football culture into a competitive format that lifts fans out the stands and puts them onto the pitch. Align yourself with one of two different sides at the start of each weekly event, where every pass and goal unleashed contributes points towards victory. Anything else? The beautiful game has never looked better this year, with PES 2020 introducing an enhanced lighting engine, improved player models, realistic cut scenes and replay footage, plus a completely new preset camera angle that offers a compelling broadcast feel. PES 2019 has been let down by its servers in online play, and it something that must improve. PES featured at the 2018 Asian games, and if it is to enhance their ambitions to go big into esports, they must rectify their server problems. Stadiums : PES don’t have a great deal of stadiums on the game, but the ones they do have look incredible. Other Stadiums added this year -La Bombonera -El Monumental -Allianz Parque -Emirates Stadium -Old Trafford -Allianz Arena -Camp Nou -Allianz Stadium The Licensing War : The ongoing battle between Konami and EA may have just finished with Konami as the winners. So far Konami have official licenses of: Italian Serie A French Ligue 1 French Ligue 2 Brazilian Brasileirao Serie A Brazilian Brasileirao Serie B Russian Premier League Belgian Pro League Danish Superliga Argentinian Superliga About World Cup : World Cup rights have long been in EA’s hands, but this year Euro 2020 will be in Konami’s corner, with the full tournament being a DLC for PES 2020. The 2020 Q2 DLC will bring over 50 national teams to the game, including current champions Portugal. Along with the official national teams will come team kits, crests, and players. Guy Laurent-Epstein, marketing director of UEFA Events SA, said “We are very pleased to continue and extend our working partnership with KONAMI. UEFA EURO 2020 provides an opportunity to build an even closer working relationship, allowing us to activate it in new and exciting ways, and to engage with our mutual fans around the world.” Now that the playing field is more evenly balanced, do any of these license updates entice you towards PES 2020?.
