    Jak 3 is an open world platform third-person shooter action-adventure video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 2. The game is the sequel to Jak II, and the third game in the series. The game picks up after the events of the previous games and the player takes on the dual role of recurring protagonists Jak and Daxter. It adds new weapons, devices and playable areas. The game was followed by Jak X: Combat Racing. Like its predecessor, the gameplay of Jak 3 is a blend of platforming, driving, and gun combat. The player is led through the story as they complete missions, assigned by the various characters in the game. Missions can consist of anything from defeating particular enemies, reaching a specific location, or completing a puzzle. With the exception of timed or otherwise linear missions, the player is free to explore the game world as they see fit. Cheats, made available as the player progresses, can upgrade weapons, flip the game world around into a mirror image of itself, or grant the player invincibility.After the game has been completed, the Hero Mode option is made accessible, which, when purchased, allows the player to re-play the game at a harder difficulty level, but with all previously unlocked cheats and extras still available. As Precursor Orb count is not reset, and the orbs are regenerated at their original locations, the player is able to regather orbs that he or she had already collected the previous time they played through the game. Collecting all 600 Precursor Orbs has some cosmetic effects on Jak's appearance, but has no effects other than this. In Hero Mode, Jak also keeps all twelve of his weapons but loses his light flight along with two of his dark powers until they are collected in their respective parts of the game. There are some differences between Jak 3 and Jak II. Most notably are the changes undergone by the Haven City environments. Spargus City, the Wasteland, and Haven City function as the main hubs in Jak 3, where leaper lizards, buggies, and zoomers are respectively the main transportation source. While Jak II provided the player with only four different types of guns, Jak 3 expands on the concept with two additional modifications for each type, ending with a total of twelve weapons. Also, the 'Dark Jak' form, introduced in Jak II, which allowed the player to transform into a more powerful offensive version of Jak, is countered by a 'Light Jak' form that mainly focuses on defensive abilities. The jet-board makes a return appearance from Jak II to this game, with some additional upgrades as well.
  3. Tree of Savior (also known as TOS) is a free massively multiplayer online role playing game developed by IMC Games. The game was developed by Kim Hakkyu, creator of Ragnarok Online while the game's background music was done by various groups and artists like SoundTeMP, the same team known for their soundtracks in Ragnarok Online and Granado Espada. TOS is based on traditional Lithuanian culture and mythology. Tree of Savior was first revealed at Hangame Ex in 2011 under the code name "Project R1"; leading to the attainment of the title "spiritual successor of Ragnarok Online". The game was posted to Steam Greenlight on May 12, 2015 and approved in less than 10 hours. The International version was released through Steam as a Founder's Early Access game on March 28, 2016, with the game releasing as a free-to-play title on April 28, 2016 Located in the South of the Kingdom within the Klaipedia region, the city of Klaipedia is one of the main cities in the world of Tree of Savior. The city is connected to West Siauliai Woods, the starting point for all the new Revelators. Klaipedia is considered the main administrative region of the kingdom with mining as the city's main industry. The prosperity of the city is mostly attributed to the crystal mined from the Siauliai's Crystal Mine in the past. In present days, the city is going through a difficult time; with the circulation of goods nearly extinguished and the city flooded with refugees from other regions because of Medzio Diena. The city is also home to several class masters such as Cleric Master Rozalija and Knight Commander Uska, the Templar Master and the city's ruling general. The city's name was actually based on Klaipėda, the capital of Klaipėda County and the third largest city in Lithuania. Other maps that are connected to Klaipedia are the Gytis Settlement Area and the East Siauliai Woods that leads to the Crystal Mine and Miners' Village.

    Hitman

    Hitman is a stealth video game series developed by the Danish company IO Interactive, previously published by Eidos Interactive and Square Enix. IO Interactive remained a subsidiary of Square Enix until 2017, when Square Enix started seeking sellers for the studio, IO Interactive completed a management buyout, regaining their independent status and retaining the rights for Hitman, in June 2017. The series is available on Microsoft Windows as well as several video game consoles, including the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The franchise includes two novels and a graphic novel: Hitman: Enemy Within written by William C. Dietz, followed by Hitman: Damnation written by Raymond Benson, as well as a comic prequel Agent 47: Birth Of A Hitman. A film adaptation in 2007, which is loosely based on the storyline of the games, was negatively received, but became a financial success. Another film, Hitman: Agent 47 was released in 2015, to negative reviews. The story revolves around Agent 47, a cloned assassin-for-hire, whose flawless record places him in high demand among the wealthy and elite. The first original scriptwriter was Morten Iversen, who wrote the scripts for Hitman: Codename 47 and Hitman 2: Silent Assassin. He also contributed to Hitman: Contracts and Hitman: Blood Money. The games feature a mix of orchestral and electronica musical scores, composed by Jesper Kyd. A fifth installment of the series, Hitman: Absolution, was released on 20 November 2012. With it, a spin-off has been released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 called Hitman: Sniper Challenge. For mobile and tablet, a spin-off game developed by Square Enix Montreal was released as a turn-based strategy game, titled Hitman Go. Another game released for mobile, Hitman: Sniper, consists of first-person sniping gameplay. The sixth game, titled Hitman, was released episodically, the first episode of which released in March 2016, and the last in December 2016. The seventh game, Hitman 2, was released in November 2018.

Life Is Strange is an episodic graphic adventure video game developed by Dontnod Entertainment and published by Square Enix for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Android. The game was released in five episodes periodically throughout 2015. The game's plot focuses on Max Caulfield, an 18-year-old photography student who discovers that she has the ability to rewind time at any moment, leading her every choice to enact the butterfly effect. After having foreseen an approaching storm, Max must take on the responsibility to prevent it from destroying her town. The player's actions will adjust the narrative as it unfolds, and reshape it once allowed to travel back in time. Fetch quests and making environmental changes represent the forms of puzzle solving in addition to using branching choices for conversation. Development of Life Is Strange began in April 2013. It was formed with an episodic format in mind, for reasons both financial and creative. The developers conducted field research on the setting by travelling to the Pacific Northwest, and subverted known archetypes to make the characters. Player feedback influenced the adjustments made to the episodes. Story and character arc serve as the central point in the game. During its release, Life Is Strange received generally favourable reviews commending the character development, rewind game mechanic and tackling of taboo subjects. Common criticisms included the slang that was used, poor lip-syncing in earlier episodes, and tonal inconsistencies in the story. It received over 75 Game of the Year awards and listings. It has sold over three million copies as of May 2017. A sequel, Life Is Strange 2, was released in September 2018.

  7. Depth is an Indie video game developed by Digital Confectioners and released for Microsoft Windows in 2014. It is an asymmetrical multiplayer game that pits treasure hunting divers against sharks. The game is a first-person shooter taking place in underwater environments. Players can either be divers or sharks. Divers escort and defend an automated submersible to collect sunken treasure, utilizing firearms, harpoons, explosives, and other equipment bought with collected treasure, while sharks, with different species having different abilities, "evolve" new abilities by killing and eating divers. Games are won by either side running out of respawns, by divers successfully escorting the submersible to an extraction point, or by sharks destroying the submersible. Depth began production in 2009, as a student project built as a mod for Unreal Tournament 3, by a small team led by Alex Quick of Killing Floor fame. Between 2010 and 2012, the game was ported to UDK and became a standalone game. However, development became stalled, due to concerns over gameplay. In 2013, Digital Confectioners took over and finished development and were cited as only being concerned with releasing skins and no further gameplay balance.

A 3D game type that has grown to prominence in recent years, especially on consoles. It combines the shooting elements of the first-person shooter with the jumping and climbing puzzles of a 3D platformer and a simple melee fighting system from a brawler. Third-person shooter games almost always incorporate an aim-assist feature, since aiming from a third-person camera is difficult. Most also have a first-person view, which allows precise shooting and looking around at environment features that are otherwise hidden from the default camera. In most cases, the player must stand still to use first-person view, but newer titles allow the player to play like a FPS; indeed, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath requires the player to shoot from first person, only allowing melee attacks in the chase camera views.

    Shenmue III is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Neilo and Ys Net. It is scheduled to be published by Deep Silver in August 2019 for PlayStation 4 and Windows. The story continues teenage martial artist Ryo Hazuki's quest to find his father's killer in 1980s China. Director Yu Suzuki conceived Shenmue as a saga spanning multiple games. The first two games were developed by Sega AM2 and published by Sega for the Dreamcast in 1999 and 2001 respectively. The original Shenmue was the most expensive video game ever developed at the time, with an estimated production and marketing cost of over US$47 million, though this also covered some of Shenmue II and groundwork for future Shenmue games. Despite attracting a cult following and appearances in several "greatest video games of all time" lists, the games were commercial failures and Shenmue III spent over a decade in development hell. At the June 2015 E3 conference, following years of speculation, Suzuki launched a Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund Shenmue III, with Sega having licensed Shenmue to Suzuki's company Ys Net. The campaign met its initial target of $2 million in under eight hours, making it the fastest Kickstarter campaign to reach that amount. It ended in July 2015 having raised over $6 million, making it the highest-funded video game and the sixth-highest-funded campaign in Kickstarter history. Crowdfunding on other platforms ended in September 2018, having raised a total of over $7.1 million.
  10. Clash of Clans is a freemium mobile strategy video game developed and published by Finnish game developer Supercell. The game was released for iOS platforms on August 2, 2012, and on Google Play for Android on October 7, 2013. The game is set in a fantasy-themed persistent world where the player is a chief of a village. Clash of Clans tasks players to build their own town using the resources gained from attacking other players through the game's fighting features. The main resources are gold, elixir and dark elixir. Players can conjoin to create clans, groups of up to fifty people who can then partake in Clan Wars together, donate and receive troops, and talk with each other. Clash of Clans was released to positive reviews, garnering high ratings from many critics. Clash of Clans is an online multiplayer game in which players form communities, called clans, train troops, and attack other players to earn resources. There are four currencies or resources in the game. Gold and elixir can be used to build and reload defenses that protect the player from other players' attacks. Elixir and dark elixir are also used to train and upgrade troops and spells. Gems are the premium currency. Attacks are rated on a three star scale and have a maximum timed length of three minutes. The game also features a pseudo-single player campaign in which the player can attack a series of fortified goblin villages and earn gold, elixir and dark elixir (levels 51-75 only). The game starts with two Builders, but the player can have up to five builders through buying them with gems.

  12. H1Z1 is a free-to-play battle royale game developed and published by Daybreak Game Company. The game's development began after the original H1Z1 was spun off into two separate projects in early 2016: H1Z1: Just Survive and H1Z1: King of the Kill. The games were further split as separate projects in October 2017, with Just Survive dropping the H1Z1 name, and King of the Kill becoming simply H1Z1. After three years of being in early access for Microsoft Windows, H1Z1 officially released as a free-to-play game in February 2018. It was later released for the PlayStation 4 in August 2018, and will be released for the Xbox One at a later date. The game was originally released on Steam's early access program on January 15, 2015. At release, the game suffered from numerous technical issues, such as players reporting that they could not login to their account or enter any active server. A new bug, which made all servers go offline, was also introduced to the game after the developer released a patch to fix other problems. Despite the unstable launch, John Smedley, CEO of Daybreak Game Company, announced that the game had sold over a million copies by March 2015. In February 2016, it was announced by Daybreak that the game originally known as H1Z1 had been split into two separate projects with their own dedicated development teams, subtitled Just Survive and King of the Kill. Later that year, it was announced that development of the console versions were paused in order to focus on the Windows version of the game, which was given an official release date of September 20, 2016. However, a week prior release, the game's executive producer stated that due to many features remaining unfinished by then, the game would remain in early access until further notice. As a compromise, the game received a large update on September 20, including many of the features intended for the official release.

    Get Even

    I had completely forgotten about Get Even, the Farm 51-built shooter that was announced in very early 2014 with a strange little trailer and a promise of a "photo-realism aspiring, single/multiplayer hybrid first person shooter." But today's announcement of a publishing deal with Bandai Namco—and a delay to 2016—has brought it all back. Unfortunately, what is has not brought back is any clarity over what the game is about. See what you make of this: "Get Even is the psychological thriller movie genre made video game, blurring lines and blending the frantic tension of the FPS genre with the oppressive intimacy of a complex personal investigation," Bandai Namco said in the announcement. "Eschewing the usual clichés and gung-ho scenarios currently inhabiting the FPS genre, Get Even packs an alternative, mature and intriguing story combined with strong shooter elements." I cannot help but be impressed by how much that description has interested me, even as it tells me virtually nothing about the actual game. It's a shooter, which we already knew, and it will feature a "mature" story, another detail that was already on the table as well. Interestingly, no mention is made of the multiplayer elements, despite that being a focal point of the original announcement and the "making of" trailer from last April that's embedded above. That may or may not reflect a change in the game's direction; The Farm 51's website talks about removing "the artificial barrier between single-player and multiplayer," but it also still carries a 2015 release target. 2016 is admittedly not much detail as far as launch windows go. The important thing, at least for those of us who think this is a potentially interesting idea, is that Get Even is still being worked on. And with Bandai Namco's involvement, hopefully we'll start to see more of what's in store in the relatively near [CENSORED]ure A new breed of first-person action game, Get Even subtlety removes the classic division between single-player and multiplayer experiences to unfold two linked stories. The game’s plot revolves around the memories of its central heroes which have a dramatic effect on how the game progresses. The route the player chooses to follow determines their personality as the game unfolds. The carefully crafted storyline mixes elements of thriller and horror with exploration. As these personality traits are revealed, the merging of single-player and multiplayer elements tighten. When players embark on a single-player mission, others on the network can join the quest as enemies, so players never know whether their opponents are human or CPU-based. This suspense further heightens the player’s feeling of a threat. To create the photo-realistic visuals that bring the gritty universe to life, Get Even is the first game to use large-scale, real-world scanning to create expansive and lifelike environments. This 3D scanning technology combines with advanced lighting effects to create a stunning and believable world that pushes the boundaries of the genre.

    Bloodborne is an action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for PlayStation 4. Announced at Sony's E3 2014 conference, the game was released worldwide in March 2015. Bloodborne follows the player character, the Hunter, through the decrepit Gothic, Victorian era-inspired city of Yharnam, whose inhabitants have been afflicted with an abnormal blood-borne disease, with the player character unraveling the city's intriguing mysteries while fighting beasts, ultimately attempting to find the source of the plague and stop it. The game is played from a third-person perspective, players control a customizable protagonist, and gameplay is focused on weapons-based combat and exploration. Players battle varied enemies, including bosses, using items such as swords and firearms, and journey through the story, exploring the game's different locations, interacting with non-player characters, collecting key items involved in the story, and discovering and unraveling the world's many mysteries. Bloodborne began development in 2012 under the working title of Project Beast. Bearing many similarities to the Souls series of games by the same company, Bloodborne was partially inspired by the literary works of authors H. P. Lovecraft and Bram Stoker, and the architectural design of certain real world locations in places such as Romania and the Czech Republic. The decision by game director Hidetaka Miyazaki to create a new intellectual property (IP) and not another Souls game was made because he wanted to create something "different"; at the same time, Sony wanted a new IP to be made exclusively for the PlayStation 4. Bloodborne received critical acclaim, with praise being directed at its gameplay, particularly its high level of difficulty, sound design, atmospheric environments, interconnected world design, and plot. However, some criticism was directed at its technical performance at launch, which was improved with post-release updates. An expansion for the game, titled The Old Hunters, was released in November 2015. By the end of 2015, the game had sold over two million copies worldwide. It was nominated for multiple year-end accolades including Game of the Year by several gaming publications. The game also had a few spinoffs produced, such as a card game and comic book series.
