  4. Auto sector in Pakistan is in hot waters since the last couple of years however the Fiscal Year 2019-20 turned out to be worse than expected. Sales of locally assembled passenger cars witnessed a 53% decline in sales during FY2019-20 due to slowdown in economic activities, higher interest rates, constantly rising car prices & towards the end, due to coronavirus pandemic which virtually put car sales at a halt. However the automaker which seems to have suffered the most in these times is Honda Atlas, the sales of which reduced by 63% during last fiscal year. Honda sells three locally assembled products here– the Civic, City and BR-V, cumulative sales of which stood at 44,234 units in FY2018-19, however in FY2019-20 the sales got reduced to 16,387 units rendering a deplorable 63% decline. Not only that the sales got drastically reduced, the company posted an alarming Rs 511 million quarterly loss for the period ending June 2020. Since long the company has stopped disclosing individual sales of two of its models– Civic & City although both are completely different vehicles from each other. Still the combined sales for the duo saw 39,189 units in FY2018-19 which shrunk to 14,091 units in FY2019-20 witnessing a 64% decline. On the other hand, BR-V the 7-seat MPV sold 5,045 units in FY2018-19 however its sales reduced by 54.4% in FY2019-20 to 2,296 units. So why Honda is feeling much of the heat compared to the others, well there are multiple reasons behind the ongoing demise & we are obviously not going to blame the depreciating currency or increased duties as the sole reason which the automaker often blabber about since the root cause is something very different which has been accumulating for many years & has remained unattended by the company.
  5. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s explosive book that lifts the veil off their side of the story amidst the royal battle, has just released its first excerpt.Penned royal reporter Omid Scobie and Elle contributor Carolyn Durand, Finding Freedom’s first excerpt was published in The Times on Friday showing how the Duchess of Sussex put in all her efforts to fit into the royal family but eventually stepped back with Prince Harry. The extract also reveals that it was the duke and not Meghan, who took the decision to leave everything behind after months of frustration and conflicts with the family members as well as the staff. According to the writers, the pair were unable to comprehend "why so few inside the palace were looking out for their interests.”"While they both respected the hierarchy of the institution, it was difficult when they wanted to focus on a project and were told that a more senior ranking family member, be it Prince William or Prince Charles, had an initiative or tour being announced at the same time—so they would just have to wait." It was further disclosed that the couple could only trust a few people in the palace as “no information was safe.”Scobie and Durand cited their sources saying, the two were patronized by family members and the staff and even after their complaints, things remained unchanged.Harry and Meghan’s exit "was a direct result of their growing impatience.”"If other members of the family and those working with the households had taken their requests more seriously, it wouldn’t have reached that point,” wrote the authors. Some members of the court and the family threw the onus of the split on Meghan despite the decision being joint and specifically driven by Harry who wanted to take a step back from the public since a while. “Fundamentally, Harry wanted out. Deep down, he was always struggling within that world. She’s [Meghan] opened the door for him on that,” said a source cited in the book.Meghan had also tearfully told a friend back in March, “I gave up my entire life for this family. I was willing to do whatever it takes. But here we are. It’s very sad,” as disclosed by the book.Apart from that Harry losing his honorary military appointments was also something that was "most painful to Meghan witness him go through. It’s the one that made Harry emotional,” said a source close to the couple. The Sussexes wrapped up their final royal duties in March with the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey after which Meghan immediately flew back to Canada with her son Archie: “At that point she couldn’t imagine wanting to set a foot back into anything royal again.”
  6. Erdogan and his top ministers, wearing white facemasks as a precaution against Covid-19, knelt on blue carpets at the start of a ceremony which marks the return of Muslim worship to the ancient structure. The Turkish president also recited verses from the Holy Quran.Earlier, crowds formed at checkpoints around the historic heart of Istanbul where massed police maintained security. Once through the checks, worshippers sat apart on prayer mats in secured areas outside the building in Sultanahmet Square. “We are ending our 86 years of longing today,” said one man, Sait Colak, referring to the nearly nine decades since Hagia Sophia was declared a museum and ceased to be a place of worship.“Thanks to our president and the court decision, today we are going to have our Friday prayers in Hagia Sophia.”A top Turkish court announced this month it had annulled Hagia Sophia's status as a museum. Erdogan immediately decreed that the building, a Christian Byzantine cathedral for 900 years before being seized by Ottoman conquerors and serving as a mosque until 1934, had been converted once again to a mosque. Several hundred invitees joined Erdogan for the ceremony inside the sixth-century building. Some, including his son-in-law and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak, could be seen recording images of the historic occasion on their mobile phones.A large screen and speakers were set up in the square to broadcast proceedings to the thousands gathered outside.crowds grew, leaving little space for social distancing, Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya said authorities had stopped people entering the area due to concerns about the spread of the coronavirus. On Twitter, he called for patience and said the mosque would be open for prayer until Saturday morning.
  7. Google has launched a beta version of its Recommendations AI tool, which aims to help retailers offer much more personalized recommendations to their customers. Recommendations AI is one of several new services being offered by Google to allow retailers to provide a more comprehensive range of e-commerce products or services to their customers. The artificial intelligence aspect of the tool lets Recommendations AI produce results based on an individual’s search history and web browsing habits.Google has reported that trials carried out by early adopters of Recommendations AI produced improved sales thanks to the more individualized customer experience. Retailers can hone the service using a raft of recommendation models, pulling in data from other Google Cloud services, including Merchant Center, Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 360 and BigQuery. The resulting recommendation models can be trained to produce more tailored results in just two to five days and be subsequently used to serve out the personalised experience to retail customers. Google says that the Recommendations AI models have the capability to support extensive catalogs of products that will run well into the millions. The initial announcement of Recommendations AI formed part of several Google Cloud applications that were showcased at Google’s Cloud Next conference 15 months ago. Other new tools announced back then included Document Understanding AI, Contact Center AI and additions to Google’s Cloud for Retail services, all of which make use of artificial intelligence to provide more enhanced experiences for retail customers.
  8. AMD's Renoir SOC has just got its first legitimate platform block diagram leaked courtesy of the venerable Igor over at Igor's Lab. The source in question has a spotless track record with leaks and we have no reason to doubt the legitimacy of the slide. The AMD Renoir SoC block diagram (for the mobility platform) reveals that dedicated GPUs will only have access to 8 lanes of PCIe 3.0 which could run high-end GPUs into a bandwidth bottleneck (think RTX 2060 Super and above). AMD Renoir 'mobility' SoC utilizes only 8 PCIe 3.0 lanes for discrete graphics, could turn the tide towards Intel TGL-based gaming laptops in the high-end segment : Interestingly, this limitation does not apply to desktop (AM4-based) Renoir SOC as confirmed by Robert Hallock. The reason appears to be that while the AM4-based platform has access to 16 lanes of PCIe 3.0, the mobility platform is using a crippled version of the SoC for energy efficiency purposes and will only be able to utilize 8 lanes for a dedicated GPU. This amount of bandwidth is enough for GPUs up to a RTX 2060 Super (which is the limit) and might explain why all the configurations of AMD Renoir laptops we saw topped out at an NVIDIA RTX 2060. Most pertinently perhaps, this is something that could turn the tide of high-end gaming laptops to Intel's camp once again. Intel's Tiger Lake is not only going to get at least 16x lanes available for discrete graphics but should also feature some lanes on the new PCIe 4.0 standard. The fact that AMD Renoir will not be able to support high-end GPUs such as the RTX 2070 and above (and even big Navi variants when AMD decides to release them) will see Intel most likely retain its gaming crown in the laptop space till we see a worthy successor from AMD.Support for GDDR6 is also confirmed with the block diagram as well as the rest of the lane distribution for the platform. Thankfully, storage is supported on dedicated lanes so plugging in an NVME SSD should not cripple the discrete graphics to just 4x PCIe lanes. USB 3.2 gen2 is also supported natively and dual-channel DRAM controllers are included as well. The introduction of Renoir based laptops in the market should see Intel dragged into a price war that will force it to either 1) cut prices as well or 2) yield market share for the mainstream segment as AMD offerings are usually much cheaper than Intel counterparts. AMD processors have also shifted to TSMC's 7nm process and so far they have been outpacing Intel although we expect the latter to be on a more even footing with 10nm - which TGL is based on.Intel Tiger Lake will also be rocking a mammoth integrated GPU (which is essentially the DG1 in an integrated form) with 768 cores based on Xe graphics and a TFLOP count that is more powerful than the PS4. Both AMD and Intel have gotten very serious with integrated GPUs and things are about to heat up as we enter into the second half of 2020.
  9. Earlier in May 2020, leaked patent images of the 3rd generation XP150 Toyota Yaris facelift which is also marketed as Vios in various markets surfaced the internet indicating an imminent launch of the vehicle that debuted in its current guise in Thailand as Yaris Ativ back in 2017. Now Toyota is all set to launch the new Yaris/ Vios XP150 facelift which will make its debut in Philippines on the 25th of July. Changes up front include downturned trapezoidal grille flanked by redesigned bumper with narrow vertically oriented air inlets underlined by a body-colored spoiler. The facelift also gets new LED reflector headlights, with integrated L-shaped daytime running lights. Although the rear isn’t revealed at this stage however it will get a slightly redesigned rear bumper with enhanced tail lights, plus there will be new set of alloys as well as new interior trim and upholstery.Reportedly there will be no engine & mechanical upgrades as the XP150 will make use of the same engines & transmission options carried over from the pre-facelift models depending on the market where it’s offered.
  10. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's relationship with Queen Elizabeth II might not be the smoothest presently but their differences had been there since a while before they decided to part ways with the royal family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s dissatisfaction with their royal roles was something that the monarch was well aware of but was oblivious about when the bomb would actually be dropped. The Channel 5 documentary titled The Queen: In Her Own Words throws light on how the couple had been in the midst of a ‘war of words’ with Her Majesty at the beginning of this year.Andrew Scarborough narrated: "In 2020 she beat Harry and Meghan in a war of words and proved herself to be the Queen of social media."“Although the Queen had been caught off guard, a brief and concise tweet posted just hours later revealed that discussions were at an early stage. In just 34 friendly words, the Queen had taken back control of the situation,” he added. Expert Wesley Kerr OBE said: "It was a situation like a kettle which had been coming up to boil and it boiled over. They issued that sudden statement saying that they would be stepping back from their role as senior royals and that they had laid out what their terms would be."Royal editor Ingrid Seward added: "The statement came as a complete surprise to the Queen. She knew that they weren't happy, she knew that they were in talks with her advisors but she had no idea they were going to put out their own statement.”
  11. The cabinet held a virtual meeting, chaired by King Salman “from his office at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh,” SPA said on Twitter. The report was accompanied by footage from the spacious office in the hospital where the king presided over the meeting from behind a large desk. He thanked all those who had inquired about his health, SPA said. The 84-year-old monarch was admitted to the hospital on Monday “for some medical tests due to cholecystitis,” inflammation of the gall bladder, according to a statement issued by the royal court. In the meeting, the cabinet discussed arrangements for the forthcoming Haj pilgrimage. The Haj has been vastly scaled back this year due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.Saudi authorities initially said only around 1,000 pilgrims residing in the kingdom would be permitted for the Haj, but local media reports say as many as 10,000 will be allowed. Some 2.5 million people from all over the world usually participate in the annual ritual. It is rare for Saudi Arabia to report on the health of the ageing monarch, who has ruled the world’s top oil exporter and the Arab world’s biggest economy since 2015. In 2017, the kingdom dismissed reports and mounting speculation that the king was planning to abdicate in favour of his young son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is widely seen as the de facto ruler.Under the king’s rule, Saudi Arabia has launched ambitious economic reforms for a post-oil era and given more rights to women, but also adopted a more assertive foreign policy and entered a war in neighbouring Yemen.
  12. Initial release date: 2021 Director(s): Kenji Kimura Developer: Tango Gameworks Engine: Unreal Engine 4 Publisher: Bethesda Softworks Platforms: PlayStation 5, Microsoft Windows GhostWire: Tokyo is Tango Gameworks' first new project since The Evil Within 2. Neither its announcement trailer from E3 2019 nor its newer trailer from fake E3 2020 really told us much other than that it would be supernatural in nature and pretty darn odd. Fortunately, Bethesda has followed up the newest trailer with some text-based info on its magical karate combat and spooky Visitor spirits. As we saw in the announcement trailer, people have vanished all over Tokyo—apparently a full 99% of the po[CENSORED]tion. With the humans gone, all kinds of creepy spirits roam the city with unknown intent. It falls to you (because of course it does) to find out what happened to everyone while purging the city of its new demon interlopers. Here's everything else we know about GhostWire: Tokyo and Tango Gameworks' new action-y direction. GhostWire: Tokyo release date : GhostWire: Tokyo will launch sometime in 2021 according to the new gameplay reveal debuted during the PlayStation 5 showcase event in June. The new gameplay reveal for GhostWire: Tokyo definitely displays some of the action game elements that Tango say they're going for, even if the setting is still just flashes of monsters and bright lights in Tokyo. You can spot all manner of spooks in the new trailer, from headless schoolgirls to things that look a lot like slendermen to spooky child demons in raincoats. What will GhostWire: Tokyo's gameplay be like? During its reveal in 2019, Ikumi Nakamura explained that GhostWire isn't like the survival-horror games that Tango Gameworks is known for. "Though there is an eerie element to the world, this is the studio’s first foray into the action-adventure sphere," Bethesda said in 2020. The new gameplay reveal trailer shows that we'll be playing in first-person and our protagonist seems to be wielding a lot of magical abilities through hand gestures. Think Skyrim spellcasting, but a bit more complex."Assisting them in creating a more action-oriented game is Shinichiro Hara, who worked on the push-forward combat and Glory Kill system in DOOM (2016), and is now the Combat Director on GhostWire: Tokyo," Bethesda say. "Hara and the combat team at Tango have created an intricate, combo-based system that utilizes movements inspired by traditional Kuji-kiri hand gestures."You can initiate takedown moves on monsters from afar in GhostWire. When enemies are vulnerable, their "core" is exposed, which you can pull out with your spiritual wires (right, of course) to kill them. Certain enemies are of course vulnerable to certain kinds of attacks. “We want the player to feel like a badass, spell-casting, high-tech ninja exorcist defeating countless evil spirits,” says Hara in Bethesda's recent breakdown. “In order to achieve this, we chose intricate, deliberate hand gestures as the primary weapons, instead of simple guns. Unlike guns, our gestures allow us to put a lot more movement and personality into the player action as the player’s hands are organic extensions of the character. "This system is unique to GhostWire. It’s karate meets magic. Often, magic casters have this image of not being physically strong. That isn’t the case with GhostWire. In GhostWire, you’re casting magic with martial arts movements.”In the new trailer, you can spot the protagonist wielding fire, water, and electrical magic attacks along with a standard bow.

  14. After nearly three months since the launch of the Ryzen 4000 family on the mobility platform, AMD is bringing its Renoir Ryzen 4000 lineup to the desktop AM4 platform. Featuring the 7nm Zen 2 CPU & enhanced Vega GPU architectures, the Ryzen 4000 Renoir Desktop APU family delivers a greater leap over the past-generation of APUs, offering better performance in both compute and graphics workloads to every-day consumers. AMD Ryzen 4000 Renoir Desktop APU Family Officially Launched - The Future Is Indeed Fusion : The AMD Ryzen 4000 Renoir APU family for the desktop platform delivers the same disruption to the APU segment as the mobility platform. AMD is not only updating its CPU and GPU engines but also delivering a massive uplift in core counts and raw IPC. With the Ryzen 4000 Renoir family, AMD is fusing its 7nm Zen 2 cores alongside the 7nm Vega graphics cores. The 7nm Zen 2 cores are not only better in terms of IPC but also perform better in terms of performance per watt. In addition to the architecture, the Renoir family also doubles the core count of the last generation offerings with the addition of 6 core and 8 core options. On the graphics side, AMD has entrusted the Ryzen 4000 Renoir APU family with its Vega graphics architecture. But this isn't just any Vega, the new graphics core features an updated 7nm process node and much higher per core performance. According to Robert Hallock from AMD, each Vega CU on th Ryzen 4000 APU provides 59% higher performance and clock speeds are boosted too. Another big change for the Ryzen 4000 Renoir APUs would be their package design. Unlike the 3rd Gen Ryzen CPUs (Matisse) which feature a chiplet design, the Ryzen 4000 Renoir APUs will utilize a monolithic design. The monolithic design will deliver slightly better efficiency than chiplet offerings and also offer a marked improvement in latency & bandwidth numbers. At the same time, the L3 cache on the chips falls down significantly compared to the chiplet offerings.
