  1. Some people work for got a grade and some people pay it with money! you know what i'm talking about :)

  2. It’s All About Packaging in This Sibling Rivalry If you tend to think of station wagons as a precursor to the crossover, you might find yourself wondering why they still exist. After all, only a handful of manufacturers still make them, and all of those manufacturers also happen to make pretty good SUVs. With that in mind, let’s take a look at Subaru, whose Outback wagon and Forester compact SUV are, in many ways, direct competitors. They aren’t in the same class, but it would be easy to get overwhelmed by comparing these two vehicles on the showroom floor. The Outback, which has been refreshed this year, is one of the top-ranking wagons on the market, sharing the honor with the likes of Volvo and Audi. It was the winner of two of our 2017 awards; it received a Best Car for Families and Best New Car for Teens award. The Forester lands in the top half of our compact SUV rankings, which is a tough uphill climb in a packed category with diverse competition. Despite the disparity in rankings within their respective classes, these vehicles have more in common than it may seem. Using U.S. News scoring data, we compared these Subarus in the categories that are most important to crossover and wagon buyers to find out which is the better option for you. Keep in mind that our scores change as new expert reviews and data become available. Therefore, the scores mentioned in this slideshow might not match the scores in our new car rankings. Price: Winner: 2018 Subaru Forester At a base price of $22,795, the Forester has a strong advantage over the Outback, which starts at $25,895. The Forester is one of the least expensive vehicles in its class, although not by much. The Outback is more expensive than some other wagons but holds its own against luxury rivals that cost much more
  3. Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has been detained by police in Moscow after joining a rally in support of a presidential election boycott. "I have been detained," Mr Navalny, 41, tweeted (in Russian). "This means nothing," he added, urging his backers to join protests across Russia. Earlier, police raided his offices in Moscow, reportedly seizing equipment. Mr Navalny - President Vladimir Putin's most vocal critic - is barred from standing in the 18 March election. Footage posted on Mr Navalny's Twitter page showed him being wrestled to the ground by policemen during the arrest. The opposition leader later tweeted: "The detention of one person is meaningless if there are many of us. Someone, come and replace me." Protest rallies were held in a number of Russian cities. In Moscow and St Petersburg they were not sanctioned by authorities. More than 180 people were detained across the country, reports say. Earlier on Sunday, Russian police raided the property of Mr Navalny's anti-corruption organisation in Moscow. A YouTube clip showed a broadcast recording from the office being interrupted. A spokesman for Mr Navalny said the officers used a power tool to break into the office, adding that they said they were investigating a bomb threat. Navalny: Russia's vociferous opposition leader The demonstrations come after weeks of pressure on Mr Navalny's supporters across Russia, who have faced detentions and had leaflets in support of the rallies confiscated. Mr Navalny, who insists he would beat Mr Putin in a fair fight, is barred from running in the ballot over a criminal conviction that he says is politically motivated. The opposition leader led mass street protests against Mr Putin in the winter of 2011-12 and was arrested three times in 2017 for organising unauthorised anti-Putin protests. Mr Putin, who refuses to mention Mr Navalny by name, retains a massive approval rating in Russia and is widely expected to win a fourth six-year term in office.
  4. What It Is: This week, outgoing Audi Sport chief Stephan Winkelmann confirmed that Audi Sport—the division previously known as Quattro GmbH—will launch a fully electric model by late 2020. Although he failed to provide more details, we know he is talking about a low-slung, powerful four-door EV that shares much with the Porsche Mission E (internal code J1) and developed at Audi Sport, known internally as the e-tron GT. It is a futuristic hatchback, likely even lower to the ground than our renderings suggest, and ultrapowerful, with the capability to reach 155 mph, or perhaps beyond, for an extended period of time. The e-tron GT will clearly be a member of the e-tron family, but it will be distinctly sportier than the mechanically unrelated e-tron Quattro. Why It Matters: No one knows when the world will go electric, but when it does, Audi Sport wants to be prepared. The e-tron GT will combine the agility of an Audi Sport product with the silent power of an electric. Platform: The e-tron GT shares its platform with the Porsche Mission E; it is a stand-alone, electric-only architecture. In the Porsche, it supposedly boasts fast-charging capability—80 percent battery capacity in 15 minutes—and there’s no reason for the Audi to do otherwise. The platform could migrate to Bentley and Lamborghini as well.
  5. The all-new 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class will make its official debut a little over a week from now, but today, we're already getting a good look at the truck. That's thanks to "spy photos" and info released by Mercedes-Benz itself, and a leak from Dutch site Auto Week. It might be all new, but it sounds like the G-Wagen we've come to know and love. As we've previously reported, the new G-Class is bigger than its predecessor, sitting on a 1.6-inch longer wheelbase than before. It's also 2.5 inches wider, according to Car and Driver. This means the new G will have a lot more interior space than the rather-cramped original, but despite that, it looks almost identical from the outside. Why change an icon? Mercedes has also confirmed that the G will retain its ladder-frame chassis and solid rear axle, but for the first time, it's getting double wishbones up front. Interestingly, AMG played a role in developing the new G's suspension, and it's been designed for even better off-road performance than before. The front wishbones are bolted directly to the frame, which helps improve ground clearance. Mercedes also released some neat off-road specs for all you 4x4 geeks out there: Slope climbing ability of up to 100 percent on suitable surfaces Ground clearance between the axles: 9.5 inches Maximum fording depth: 27.6 inches in water and mud passages (+7.5 inches) Driving stability at angles of 35° (+7°) Angle of departure: 30°, angle of approach: 31° (+1°) Breakover angle: 26° (+1°) Suspension travel: Front axle: Spring/rebound travel of 3.3/3.0 inches; rear axle: Spring/rebound travel of 3.2/5.6 inches Lock one of the G's three differentials or engage the low-range gearbox, and the truck automatically enters what Mercedes calls "G-Mode." This puts the adaptive dampers, steering, and transmission into their off-road settings for "effortless maneuverability," according to Mercedes. The 2019 G also gets Mercedes' new 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission, but with a new transfer case mounted directly to the gearbox casing. As before, the G-Wagen offers full-time four-wheel drive, with 40 percent of its torque going to the front axle, and 60 percent going to the rear. The transfer case also lets you switch to low-range at speeds of up to 25 mph, and you can switch back to high range at speeds of up to 43 mph. Mercedes will also offer a new 360-degree camera setup for the G, which is specially set up for off-roading. That should help you take advantage of the G's increased approach and departure angles. We'll learn a lot more about the new G later this month, but it already sounds a big improvement on what we loved about the old one. And in the meantime, check out our in-depth look at its new, more luxurious interior. Regards @-Sn!PeR-.
