A sailor who was serving aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier has become the first on the ship to die from Covid-19, the US Navy announced. The sailor was moved to an isolation house on Guam after testing positive, where he was found unresponsive on 9 April and died on 13 April. Over 500 sailors on the USS Roosevelt have tested positive for the virus. The ship's captain was fired this month after his letter pleading for help with the outbreak was leaked to US media. The USS Theodore Roosevelt is currently stationed in Guam, with sailors quarantining ashore. The name of the sailor who died has been withheld by the Navy until the family is notified. Defence secretary Mark Esper said the department "is deeply saddened by the loss of our first active duty member to Covid-19". "We remain committed to protecting our personnel and their families while continuing to assist in defeating this outbreak." According to a statement by the Navy, the sailor tested positive for the virus on 30 March and was isolated at the naval base with four others. He received twice-daily medical checks and was found unresponsive on Thursday morning. Fellow sailors administered CPR and the sailor was transferred to the navy hospital. The Navy reports that 92% of the crew have tested for Covid-19, with 585 positive cases and 3,724 negative. Nearly 4,000 sailors have been moved off the vessel. On 30 March, the vessel's captain, Brett Crozier, sent a letter to defence officials begging for assistance with the outbreak on board, saying the spread was "accelerating" and it was impossible to contain in the ship's cramped quarters. His subsequent firing provoked a public outcry and led to the resignation of acting Navy secretary Thomas Modly. Mr Modly said he removed Capt Crozier for allegedly leaking the letter and creating "the impression the Navy was not responding", claiming that the captain's actions were "naive" and "stupid". He apologised before resigning.

Game Informations: Developer & Publisher: stillalive studios & astragon Entertainment Platforms: Windows, PS4, XBox One Genre: Simulation Release date: 13 Jun, 2018 P.S: The game is on a promotion HERE you can check more info. In just about every city in the world, buses dutifully ferry citizens back and forth like blood being pumped around a circulatory system. They’re always there, always running, always reliable, if rarely on time. But when you don’t need one you don’t think about them at all. They’re just part of the scenery. What I love about simulators is how they give you a glimpse into the lives of people who drive buses, dump garbage, and haul cargo; lives that are, for most people, a mystery. Since playing World of Subways 3: London Underground I’ve never been bothered by a tube delay. Driving those things is hard. Whenever a truck rumbles past me on the street I think of my hours spent in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and I feel like I understand the job, at least on some superficial level. I’m not equating sitting on my arse playing Garbage Truck Simulator for an hour to a hard day’s graft, but you know what I mean. The latest weirdly specific simulator to arrive on PC is Bus Simulator 18, which lets you drive a city bus around a fictional city, picking up passengers, printing out tickets, and making stops on time. I think most people at some point have wondered what it would be like driving a bus, and I found stepping aboard my Mercedes-Benz Citaro K for the first time oddly thrilling—a feeling amplified by the incredibly enthusiastic woman who walks you through the tutorial. For me, simulators don’t get much better than Euro Truck Simulator 2. But as great as it is, it’s a pretty lonely experience. Bus Simulator 18, on the other hand, is full of interaction. Pull up at a stop and dozens of passengers will pile on, some of whom will strike up conversations with each other. Some will ask for a ticket and you’ll have to tap their request into your computer and hand them back the right amount of change. You can even turn around and yell at people, telling them to turn their loud music down or get away from the doors. The driving itself is fine, if a little twitchy and weightless compared to SCS Software’s satisfyingly nuanced handling. When you’re pulling a heavy load in Euro or American Truck Simulator you can really feel the weight behind you. But in Bus Simulator 18 the sensation of being in command of a big, hefty vehicle isn’t quite there. What I do like, however, is how many buttons there are to press. You can open the front and rear doors, switch on the lights, honk the horn, unfold the wheelchair ramp, adjust the seat, and a dozen other interactions, which make the buses feel wonderfully tactile. The map is fun to drive around, with a nice range of scenery and a good mix of built-up and quiet aras. I would have preferred a real city to a fictional one, though. That familiarity of driving through a real city can really enhance the realism and immersion of a sim. The buses are all real, though, with licensed vehicles from MAN, Mercedes-Benz, IVECO, and Setra to buy, customise, and drive. Yes, you can customise your bus, applying garish paint jobs and decals to make it your own. Sadly there’s no option to add undercar LEDs, spinners, or lowrider hydraulic systems yet, though. Maybe in the next update? Another key difference between Bus Simulator 18 and other sims is how it never gives you a minute to relax. The clock on your GPS is constantly ticking down, and when it hits the minus (indicating that you’re behind schedule) the pressure really begins to mount up. And it doesn’t help that your passengers will comment on the fact that you’re late, complaining when they don’t reach a destination on time. You’re also constantly being graded your driving: using indicators correctly, not hitting the curb, and braking neatly in front of bus stops. Mistakes mean fines, and bad driving will eat into your end-of-route pay. So if you’re looking for a simulator where you can fire it up and just chill out for an hour, play Euro Truck instead. The most intense that game ever gets is being sent down a narrow country road with a wide load or your mind wandering and you missing a turn-off. This game, however, requires a lot of concentration, and throwing people into the mix, some of whom will randomly ask to be let off before a stop, gives you an endless selection of ways to screw up or lose time. The game’s a little sterile visually, and features some really over-the-top lens flare. Are those brake lights radioactive? But the buses, inside and out, are brilliantly detailed. And the audio design is fantastic too, perfectly capturing the noisy clatter of being aboard a bus. There’s Steam Workshop support too, and modders have already started releasing decals and paint jobs for real-world bus companies if you want to bring a little extra realism to the experience. Bus Simulator 18 could do with a lot more polish, and someone desperately needs to proof-read the dialogue captions, which rarely match what’s being spoken. But, like most of these niche sims, I’m glad it exists. It’s given me a chance to experience, in some way, what it’s like to be a bus driver, and I never really considered how stressful the job could be. I think I’ll stick to Euro Truck Simulator 2, where I don’t have to deal with people and can drive for long stretches without interruption, but this is still a fun simulator, with an infectious enthusiasm for this most noble and misunderstood of professions. FEATURES: 8 buses from 4 leading manufacturers are faithfully reproduced in meticulous detail, including the Mercedes-Benz Citaro K, Mercedes-Benz Citaro G, MAN Lion’s City bus, MAN Lion’s City CNG articulated bus, SETRA S 418 LE business, SETRA S 416 LE business, IVECO BUS Urbanway and the IVECO BUS Urbanway CNG articulated bus. In real-time multiplayer mode you can drive around the 12 districts and over 5.8mi² of routes in the freely drivable urban area with up to 3 friends and therefore promote your bus service. The updated progression system and the comprehensive management element, including route planning, the purchase and sale of buses, staff planning and numerous statistics will guarantee long-term game motivation. For novices and pros: you can play in a simplified or a realistic mode. Modding: let your imagination run wild and create routes, build your own buses, design bus liveries, create new maps and share them with the community. You can also download and install the modding content available from the Steam Workshop to enhance your game experience. Support for po[CENSORED]r steering wheels, gamepads, Tobii eye tracking and TrackIR. Authentic bus sounds, extensive tutorial and passenger voiceovers in English and German to provide even more atmosphere. Control your bus in different weather conditions, both day and night. Customisation: fully customise your buses with different colours, patterns and advertising panels. Authentically reproduced cockpits of the 4 manufacturers, equipped with numerous individual functions. Smart traffic AI and a range of challenging traffic situations await you (bus station, night driving, construction sites, diversions, long-distance journeys, potholes, traffic jams, accidents and speed bumps, etc.). For a complete gaming experience, a variety of incidents in the bus, e.g. interior soiling and debris, special passenger requests, fare dodgers, loud music and cars parked in designated bus bays. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said it "could have gone either way" as he thanked healthcare workers for saving his life after being discharged from hospital. Mr Johnson, 55, was taken to London's St Thomas' Hospital on Sunday - 10 days after testing positive for Covid-19. He spent three nights in intensive care before returning to a ward on Thursday. He said in a video on Twitter that he had witnessed the "personal courage" of hospital staff on the front line. Mr Johnson said two nurses - Jenny from New Zealand and Luis from Portugal - stood by his bedside for 48 hours at the most critical time and named several other hospital workers who cared for him this past week that he wanted to thank. He said NHS workers "kept putting themselves in harm's way, kept risking this deadly virus". "It is thanks to that courage, that devotion, that duty and that love that our NHS has been unbeatable," he said. Downing Street said the PM would continue his recovery at his country residence, Chequers. "On the advice of his medical team, the PM will not be immediately returning to work. He wishes to thank everybody at St Thomas' for the brilliant care he has received. "All of his thoughts are with those affected by this illness." The UK has recorded 737 new coronavirus-related hospital deaths as of 17:00 BST on Saturday, taking the total number to 10,612. Health Secretary Matt Hancock said he was "delighted" the PM was out of hospital and continuing his recovery at Chequers. He added that staff at St Thomas' would "have cared for him as they would have cared for anybody in this country," which was "one of the things that makes me so proud that the NHS is there for us all". Asked how long it would be before the prime minister returned to work, he said: "That will be a clinical decision for his doctors to take with him. "The government is operating perfectly efficiently within the strategy he set out." Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab is currently in charge of running the government, with aides reportedly expecting Mr Johnson to be out of action for as long as a month. Dr Ian Abbs, chief executive at Guy's and St Thomas' hospital, said: "It is a great credit to the exceptional professionalism of clinical teams, as well as everyone in the wider organisation, that we have been able to care for the prime minister so effectively, whilst continuing to deliver equally high standards of care to all of our patients. "While it is right that we celebrate this good news, our thoughts turn immediately to those who still need our help at this time. "On behalf of everyone at Guy's and St Thomas', I'd ask that people stay home to help us save lives and protect the NHS." The prime minister's fiancee, Carrie Symonds, who is due to give birth in two months, said on Twitter: "Thank you also to everyone who sent such kind messages of support. Today I'm feeling incredibly lucky. "There were times last week that were very dark indeed. My heart goes out to all those in similar situations, worried sick about their loved ones. "I cannot thank our magnificent NHS enough. The staff at St Thomas' Hospital have been incredible. I will never, ever be able to repay you and I will never stop thanking you." Ms Symonds has been self-isolating with coronavirus-like symptoms but has not been tested.

Game Informations: Developer & Publisher: Secret Location Inc. Platforms: Windows, PS4 Genre: Adventure, 3D, First-Person Release date: 6 Nov, 2018 P.S: The game is on a promotion HERE you can check more info. Virtual reality (VR) developer Secret Location is nothing but original in its approach to immersive and compelling content. Having released the brutally unforgiving Blasters of the Universe, showcasing how wave shooters can still be fun and engaging in amongst all the tripe, its latest release is far more tranquil and mind-bending in its approach. A time skewing puzzler that plays with physics, Transpose offers a surreal experience that’s equally captivating. Time and gravity are two of the binding elements that control the universe, circular in motion, forever destroying and creating in a never-ending loop. But they can also be used as tools to mani[CENSORED]te the world, which is where Transpose comes in. Set in an almost ethereal, dreamlike setting, that shifts between dark monolithic landscapes to bright fantasy realms, Transpose is an enthralling puzzle experience right from the off. With complete freedom to explore the levels, thanks to both smooth locomotion and teleportation – both of which can be used at the same time for maximum effect – the 35 levels set over three worlds all boil down to one task, moving an energy cube (or cubes) from one location to its goal. To do this, however, you must first learn how to mani[CENSORED]te time and create copies of yourself. These copies are called Echos, which can be built up over several levels to create multiple Echos. These are then denoted by bands on your right arm, each one being used as an Echo is produced. On the left arm is a slider which can speed up time, allowing these Echos to be fast-forwarded as needs must. Echos are easy to create. Simply perform an action – or any number of actions – and then choose to keep it or discard it. Once one of those two actions have been chosen you’ll then return to where you entered the level. This time though that previously recorded Echo is now playing, pulling levers, throwing cubes, moving across platforms, whatever you happened to do. This, in turn, will allow you to reach new areas or perform other actions to complete the level. It’s an idea beautifully easy to grasp as a concept yet the later levels can become mind-bogglingly complicated as more Echos are created, running around the levels each performing its own role. You know what the Echos are doing – you have just performed the process – yet the real trick (and hook) to the videogame is this management of your multiple selves, intertwining your present and future Echos into one harmonious whole, a weird sci-fi ballet if you will. And then there’s the gravity side of the equation, enabling you to walk on walls and ceilings like some sort of M. C. Escher painting. There are some very well designed levels with the difficulty curve set well enough that most shouldn’t start to struggle until the very end of the first world or the beginning of the second. For all this bizarre craziness that’s going on, trying to keep yourself planted as the world and other versions of yourself run around, comfort isn’t really an issue. There’s no need to rush at any point, taking a step back and examining the area is vital to work out a correct process due to the limited number of Echos that can be produced. Running out just means having to amalgamate certain actions. Transpose is a feast for the eyes as well as the mind, with enough levels to keep most busy for a good few hours. If there’s a downside then the Echo Bands can be a bit fiddly when trying to delete Echos. Other than that, Transpose is a mesmerising experience that VR players shouldn’t overlook. FEATURES: More than 30 levels : 30+ mystifying levels spanning three unique worlds Create time loops and solve puzzles : Player-created time loops used to record and coordinate multiple echoes of the player to solve increasingly difficult puzzles. Mani[CENSORED]te the environment : Players can rotate the environment around them to walk on walls and ceilings, and to view environments from different perspectives. Nearly 8 hours of gameplay : Spend hours playing through multiple levels and worlds in Transpose with nearly 8 hours of gameplay. Play to your comfort level : Transpose was designed with multiple locomotion and comfort options in mind, including both standing and seated play for every players comfort levels. Multilingual : Localized language options including: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese and Korean. Check Out the Transpose Trailer:

The US has become the first country in the world to record more than 2,000 coronavirus deaths in a single day. Figures from Johns Hopkins University show 2,108 people died in the past 24 hours while there are now more than half a million confirmed infections. The US could soon surpass Italy as the country with the most coronavirus deaths worldwide. But experts on the White House Covid-19 task force say the outbreak is starting to level off across the US. Dr Deborah Birx said there were good signs the outbreak was stabilising, but cautioned: "As encouraging as they are, we have not reached the peak." President Donald Trump also said he expects the US to see a lower death toll than the initial predictions of 100,000 fatalities, adding: "We're seeing clear signs that our aggressive strategy is saving countless lives". In other developments: The World Health Organization chief warned that lifting lockdown measures too early could spark a "deadly resurgence" in infection Brazil became the first country in the southern hemisphere to surpass 1,000 deaths with coronavirus Turkey ordered a 48-hour curfew in 31 cities - including Istanbul and Ankara - to start at midnight. The announcement, made just two hours before the curfew was due to start, sparked panic buying and crowds of shoppers Aid agencies expressed alarm after the first virus case was confirmed in Yemen, where years of civil war have devastated health systems What are the latest US figures? The US now has at least 18,693 deaths and 500,399 confirmed cases, according to Johns Hopkins, which is tracking the disease globally. About half of the deaths were recorded in the New York area. Italy has reported 18,849 deaths while globally more than 102,000 people have died with the virus. Researchers had predicted the US death toll would hit its peak on Friday and then gradually start to decline, falling to around 970 people a day by 1 May - the day members of the Trump administration have floated as a possible date to start reopening the economy. "I want to get it open as soon as possible," Mr Trump said at a Good Friday briefing at the White House. "I would say without question it's the biggest decision I've ever had to make." However, no action would be taken until the government knew the "country [was] going to be healthy", he said. "We don't want to go back and start doing it over again." A city upended The coronavirus has changed everything about life, and now it's upending the rituals of death. New Yorkers have been shocked by the grim scenes: ambulances constantly blaring down eerily deserted streets, body bags being forklifted into refrigerated trucks outside hospitals and now new trenches being dug on Hart's Island for possible mass burials. The remote cemetery, accessible only by boat, is a place regarded historically with sorrow because of its mass graves with no tombstones, just unclaimed bodies. The city's morgues can only handle so much before temporary burials for Covid-19 victims, once an absolute worst-case scenario, become necessary. Funeral directors talk openly about how scared and depressed the spiking death toll has left them. Even before this week's record number of deaths, some families have had to wait a week or more to bury and cremate their loved ones.

Game Informations: Developer & Publisher: Payoff Technologies & Asmodee Digital, Days of Wonder Platforms: Available on Windows, Lunix, MAC OS, iPhone (APP Store), Android (Play Store). Release date: 27 Sep, 2017 P.S: The game is on a promotion HERE you can check more info. A game for adults and children, designed especially with little ones in mind. Ticket to Ride First Journey’s digital adaptation thrills young players behind their screens, in addition to the table. This game enables rookies to earn their stripes as they prepare to jump in the deep end of gaming! The mechanics are essentially the same as Ticket to Ride - build your own railroad network, linking cities to each other. Every town is represented by an icon representative of a monument or famous landmark! Ticket to Ride: First Journey takes the gameplay of the Ticket to Ride series and scales it down for a younger audience. In general, players collect train cards, claim routes on the map, and try to connect the cities shown on their tickets. In more detail, the game board shows a map of the United States with certain cities being connect by colored paths. Each player starts with four colored train cards in hand and two tickets; each ticket shows two cities, and you're trying to connect those two cities with a contiguous path of your trains in order to complete the ticket. On a turn, you either draw two train cards from the deck or discard train cards to claim a route between two cities; for this latter option, you must discard cards matching the color and number of spaces on that route (e.g., two yellow cards for a yellow route that's two spaces long). If you connect the two cities shown on a ticket with a path of your trains, reveal the ticket, place it face up in front of you, then draw a new ticket. (If you can't connect cities on either ticket because the paths are blocked, you can take your entire turn to discard those tickets and draw two new ones.) If you connect one of the West Coast cities to one of the East Coast cities with a path of your trains, you immediately claim a Coast-to-Coast ticket. The first player to complete six tickets wins! Alternatively, if someone has placed all twenty of their trains on the game board, then whoever has completed the most tickets wins! FEATURES: Family friendly game play Solo mode Pass & Play mode to play on the same device with family and friends (4 players max) Unlock rewards and build your collection of city pictures Rediscover the famous Ticket to Ride board game with this simplified version Check Out the Ticket to Ride: First Journey Trailer:

Game Informations: Developer & Publisher: Linclo Games Genre: Action, Casual, Indie Platforms: Windows Release date: 18 Oct, 2019 P.S: The game is on a promotion HERE you can check more info. Don’t you just hate it when you are minding your own business as an adorable, green, one-eyed blob when suddenly bombs start raining down from the sky? Well, that is exactly what happens in Martian Law and you must help your fellow green blobs escape to safety. Developed and published by Linclo Games, this casual arcade-styled shooter needs no exposition or origin story for you to know what you need to do. The objective is simple: shoot at the bombs, jump around, save your fellow Martians, and try to stay alive for as long as you can. Not much is explained as to how the Martians have gotten themselves into such a predicament. Maybe the peace treaties have failed, and war was unavoidable. Or maybe the unlucky Martians are caught in-between an intergalactic resource dispute and their presence has triggered an offensive raid. Whatever the reason may be, you must try to protect as many of your fellow cyclop blobs while avoiding being blown up yourself. Jump, dodge, and shoot your way to a higher score. The longer you can survive, the more intense the ammunition become as tiny robots and bombs the size of minivans will soon come hailing down. Ability enhancing bonuses are occasionally dropped to aid in your mission. These temporary boosts vary in offensive and defensive capabilities and can make all the difference for the survival of your kind. While Martian Law seems better suited to being played with controllers, it’s not especially difficult to play on your PC with keyboard and mouse. Adjusting and getting used to the movements and timing is just another way this game will try to challenge you. Once your motor functions become more attuned to playing, it’s just muscle movement at that point and you can set your body on autopilot. Unlike with a tactical strategy RPG, you won’t need to use a large amount of brain power for planning. Rely on your instincts and your competitive need to reach your next highest score. If you are looking for something with a thrilling story, fascinating villains, and insightful character arcs, then Martian Law won’t be for you. However, if you just want to let yourself fall into the retro arcade style and a zombified gaming state, then you’ve found the right game. Slightly nostalgic, casual, and hours of carefree fun, you will soon find yourself more and more invested in saving those cute, green blobs. Features: Fast, simple, action-packed gameplay. Use power-ups to fight off the escalating enemy assault. Super fresh art style. Game format allows you to squeeze in a quick session or play for hours. Infinite replay value, beat your high score. GamePlay: Shoot bombs and avoid explosions, allowing the innocent Martians to escape to their underground bunker. Use power-ups to stay alive as long as you can. Unlock levels as you save more innocents. Responsive twin stick controls on gamepad (recommended) or use keyboard and mouse. Developer Notes: Please note that Martian Law is a small game developed by a small indie studio. It is not a massive, content-heavy experience. Our goal was to create a solid, well-designed, score-chaser arcade game. Check Out the Martian Law Trailer:

China on Tuesday reported no new coronavirus deaths the previous day for the first time since January, offering hope for other nations still grappling with the devastating pandemic. The virus has killed more than 10,500 people in the United States, nearly half of them in New York. But Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D) said Monday that the daily death toll fell under 600 for two days in a row, suggesting a “possible flattening of the curve," though the hospital system remains overwhelmed. In Britain, Prime Minister Boris Johnson remained in intensive care with covid-19 after his condition worsened. Meanwhile, legal battles erupted over Wisconsin’s Tuesday presidential primary and local elections, which Gov. Tony Evers (D) tried to postpone, citing the threat of coronavirus. Here are some significant developments: The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday blocked a plan to extend mail-in ballot deadlines in Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Supreme Court overturned the governor’s calls for Tuesday’s vote to be postponed until June, leaving voters and poll workers scrambling hours before voting is now set to take place. A survey of hospitals across the country showed health-care workers are facing shortages of tests, masks, face shields, ventilators and staff. President Trump rejected the results of the report, which was compiled by the Inspector General of Health and Human Services, suggesting it was political. China announced 32 new cases, all of them imported, but no new deaths for the first time since it began regularly reporting figures in January. Italy announced 3,599 new coronavirus cases on Monday, its lowest daily increase in around three weeks. Spain confirmed 4,273 new cases, suggesting a downward trend in two of Europe’s hardest-hit countries. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told fellow Democratic lawmakers Monday that the next coronavirus relief bill could “easily” pass $1 trillion in cost. Congressional leaders and the White House are converging on the need for a new assistance package. China reports 32 new cases but no deaths for first time since January China on Tuesday confirmed 32 new coronavirus cases the previous day but recorded no new deaths, officials there said, marking the first time since shortly before authorities locked down Wuhan, the original epicenter of the outbreak, that the country reported no deaths linked to the virus. All of the new cases confirmed in the past day were imported in people who recently entered mainland China, the National Health Commission said. China also confirmed an additional 30 asymptomatic cases, which the government is categorizing separately from other cases. Nine of those cases were imported, officials said. China has taken extreme measures in recent weeks to limit foreigners from entering the country, as concerns mounted that as Chinese officials started to control their outbreak, people who may have contracted the virus abroad could now reignite widespread community transmission after returning. Mainland China has reported a total of 81,740 cases and 3,331 deaths since the outbreak started late last year. Wuhan, the original epicenter of the outbreak, is set to reopen its airport this week. Residents will be allowed to leave the city for the first time since Jan. 23.

You enjoy gold, so you collect it, but more importantly, you like to live—even though your life expectancy is “1.5 minutes” according to developers Metanet. That’s a charitable estimate. Even that deliberately banal premise risks complexity: the bottom line is, N++ is an action platformer where you jump and evade obstacles on your way to the end of each level. Forget about the ninja stuff, it doesn’t matter. Weeks rarely pass without a new action platformer launching on Steam, but N++ is brilliant—probably even a classic—because it reduces the genre to its rawest components. Like the original flash game N, and then the Xbox exclusive N+ after it, there is nothing to do in N++ except run, jump, hit a switch, maybe collect some gold, and then exit the level. There are no puzzles, no plot twists and no fancy new skyboxes or environments. There are over 1,000 levels of dangerous platforming, and that's all it needs. The spartan premise is matched by the art style. Metanet risks no visual noise in pursuit of an immaculate distillation of run-and-jump platforming. N++’s severe lines and high-contrast colour schemes are more befitting a modern interior design magazine, or a spreadsheet, than they are a videogame. And yet it’s beautiful, in the way grace and fluidity is prized to an almost fetishistic degree: seeing this game played well is like a modernist drawing come to life, and the game’s slowly ramping difficulty ensures that you’re always on your way to mastering the nominal ninja’s rather unorthodox movement. Regarding that movement: jeez, is it floaty. N++ is all about momentum, with the height of each leap dependent on the speed and angle at which you approach it. So in the beginning, when you’ve barely got a hold on your hapless fleet-footed ninja, you’re going to feel like an oaf. But when you learn to chain together light wall jumps, and when you’ve learned to bunny hop between platforms and glide serenely between laser beams and floating sentries, you’re not going to feel like just a boring everyday dullard ninja, but a ninja with an interpretative dance degree. N++ requires hair’s breadth precision at times, but even when it’s insurmountably tough, it just feels brilliant. It’s a game that can be played with no concern for winning, because handling the ninja is its own reward. Not that there’s any risk of ever completing the game. At a count, there are 1,125 levels across 225 episodes, taking in the 'intro' levels, the main game, and then all levels which featured in N+. If you want to try collecting all pieces of gold in each level, that’s possible (and rewarded) but good bloody luck. There are also local co-op and 'race' levels, with the former requiring collaboration between at least two players. The race levels are self-explanatory, and even the ostensibly 'solo' maps can be played together with up to three friends. There’s also a detailed global leaderboard for the solo levels, with each playthrough of a completed episode available as a replay, meaning you can watch other players’ successful attempts for hints on how to approach especially hairy gauntlets. For those with the stamina and skill to complete all of Metanet’s levels, there’s a level editor bearing all the tools needed to rival the vanilla creations. Levels can be uploaded and played across both PC and PS4 versions, but there doesn’t appear to be much quality control. I was able to upload a deliberately impossible level, and while there’s a “featured” tab which appears to be curated, many of the user levels are poor. If Metanet followed the likes of Mario Maker and required creators to master their own levels before uploading, trawling through user creations would feel more worthwhile. That said, especially dire levels tend not to remain visible for long, and I played the game before release. Hopefully with the arrival of a PC audience, the community content will blossom. Some levels contain phantom ninjas that mirror your movement. They're infuriating. If there’s another problem I have with N++, it’s one inherited from its predecessor: the requirement to play through levels in episodes. Each episode is a sequence of five levels, and all five must be finished in order to secure completion. This is fine in the beginning, but later on, when certain individual levels can take hours (sometimes days) to master, the requirement to do five at once can be overwhelming. Metanet is great at pacing its episodes so that especially difficult levels are buffered by more forgiving outings, but the structure can be a hinderance for those more inclined to dip in and out of a game like this. This is somewhat counteracted by the freeform nature of the episodes: there are always several you can attempt, so it's rare to feel hopelessly stumped. When I first played N++ on PS4 last year, I thought it would be the last action platformer I’d ever need. That sentiment still stands: since playing 300+ hours of this game on console, and another 20 or so on PC, I feel there are few platformers, classic or modern, that can rival N++ in terms of physics, fluidity, level design and sheer size. In some ways N++ feels like the end of the action platformer, like an exhaustive final document, a catalogue of its emotional highs and lows. It's obviously not really the last action platformer, but for anyone with even a vague affection for platforming, it's a game to play for years to come. Here is a game trailer by PlayStation official channel.
