Intel's Flagship Alder Lake Desktop CPU, The Core i9-12900K, Rocks 5.5 GHz Boost Clock & 150W TDP, Priced at Over $750 US At CES 2022, Intel confirmed that they will be bringing the Core i9-12900KS, a heavily-binned variant of the Core i9-12900K CPU, to the consumer segment. This chip is designed purely for the high-end enthusiast and overclocking community and as such, it rocks some beastly specs. Intel Core i9-12900KS 16 Core / 24 Thread Desktop CPU The Intel Core i9-12900KS will be the flagship chip in the 12th Gen Alder Lake Desktop CPU lineup. It will feature 8 Golden Cove cores and 8 Gracemont cores for a total of 16 cores (8+8) and 24 threads (16+8). The P-cores (Golden Cove) will operate at a maximum boost frequency of up to 5.5 GHz with 1-2 active cores and 5.2 GHz with all-cores active while the E-cores (Gracemont) will operate at 3.90 GHz across 1-4 cores and up to 3.7 GHz when all cores are loaded. The CPU will feature 30 MB of L3 cache. The main change is that to accommodate the higher frequency, Intel has upped the base TDP by 25 Watts over the Core i9-12900K. As such, the 12900KS will feature a base TDP of 150W and it is very likely that the maximum turbo power rating will also be raised beyond the existing 241W of the 'K' variant. With the specs out of the way, what's the pricing going to be like? Well, the chip is currently listed with preliminary pricing of $780 (Tray) & $790 US (Boxed) over at ShopBLT. It is likely that the final pricing should end up close to the $750 US figure which makes the 'KS' variant around 150 US more expensive than the standard 'K' variant. Now those who want those high boosts and all-core boost frequencies to break world records will definitely be willing to pay for these pre-binned chips but standard gamers should find no big gains for the extra price that the 'KS' variant should come at.

Link : https://www.pcgamer.com/these-t-rex-keycaps-look-like-they-would-bite-off-a-finger/ These artisan keycap markers were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. It should come as no surprise to anyone that some of the staff here at PC Gamer sure do love artisan keycaps. From horrifying Jokers to ones that look like bite-sized GPUs, they've become one of the status symbols of modern PC gaming. If you were like me growing up, a little genius, chances are dinosaurs were your thing. So why not decorate your colorful keyboard with a dope little T-Rex that looks like it's going to eat your hand. We've seen dinosaur keycaps before but these Memeda Dinosaur Ages keycaps that were just made available for preorder on Drop are just so goddamn cool that I wouldn't mind being poked in the pinky by a horn every time I hit the ESC key. You have a choice of either a Tyrannosaurus or Triceratops in four different colors. Much like some of the other keycaps we've highlighted, these bad dinos aren't cheap, costing $39 for each individual keycap. Memeda is looking for at least 700 preorders by next week in order to fulfill this run and it looks like they are about there with only, needed about 40 more preorders as of now. Like other products on Drop, if they fail to meet the minimum order, the run is canceled. These hand-painted resin keycaps are compatible with keyboards using Cherry MX switches. Supply is limited and once the product run ends, that's it. These caps have an expected ship date of June 20, 2022.Jorge is a hardware writer from the enchanted lands of New Jersey. Link : https://www.techradar.com/news/windows-11-set-to-warn-users-if-their-pc-shouldnt-be-running-the-os Further warning that a PC is unsupported now in place with test builds Windows 11 can currently be installed on PCs which don’t meet the official system requirements, but Microsoft doesn’t recommend this course of action – and has taken new steps in a preview build to add a further warning against doing so. To recap, Windows 11 can be run on a system which doesn’t officially support the OS, but Microsoft has previously cautioned about possible ‘damage’ to a system in this scenario, and noted that vital security updates may not be provided to such PCs either – even though said updates are still delivered to these devices. But now, Microsoft appears to be getting more serious about letting folks know that their PC shouldn’t be running Windows 11 if it’s not up to scratch regarding the OS requirements. Windows Latest spotted that Albacore, a well-known Twitter leaker and reliable source for Microsoft spillage, tweeted about a new reminder which is in testing for Windows 11.Upcoming Windows 11 builds will include a small reminder about system requirements atop System Settings in case your device doesn't meet them. pic.twitter.com/KZ4NkqB7wqFebruary 8, 2022As you can see, it’s in System Settings, and imparted with the details at the top of the panel. The message lets the user know that the requirements haven’t been met by their PC, with a link to find out more about why this is the case. Analysis: A hint of stricter enforcement to come? The appearance of a warning for those actually running Windows 11 on an unsupported machine in this manner – as opposed to during installation – indicates that Microsoft may be tightening loopholes concerning PCs which have been pushed onto the new OS without having the hardware goods to do so officially. As Microsoft takes more steps like this, it makes us believe that eventually, further moves will be made to ensure PCs that aren’t officially up to spec can’t run the OS fully. The software giant has always said that updates won’t come to these devices, and even though they have been provided up to now – and still are – this is another signal that this will eventually change. In other words, at some point down the line, security updates will no longer be served to unsupported PCs... and that would be a big problem, potentially leaving these systems open to exploit. Or at the very least, more prominent and intrusive warnings may be introduced to ensure that folks running Windows 11 in this way know they shouldn’t be pursuing such a route for the long-term with their device.

Link : https://wccftech.com/amd-focusing-linux-optimizations-thunderbolt-usb4-connectivity/ Last October, reports that AMD's Rembrandt series APUs would begin to offer USB4 support, established on the Thunderbolt 3 protocol surfaced. AMD is creating numerous Linux driver modifications to improve their devices' USB4/Thunderbolt support in light of this new utilization. AMD to bring USB4 technology to Linux in future builds for faster signals within an individual cable USB4 is the fifth significant modification of the Universal Serial Bus (USB) criteria. Originally debuting in March 2019, Intel posted the official specification later in August. The main USB4 chipset was revealed and presented during December at the end of 2019. USB4 will begin being present within the AMD Ryzen 6000 mobile series APUs.USB4 extends the versatility of USB-C technology and its use of alt modes by integrating video and data signals into its tunneling protocol called USB4 Fabric. This new technology alters USB, DisplayPort, and PCIe traffic to packets, then directs the movement over its topology, comparable to packetized data traveling over a network. This method allows USB4 to double the highest bandwidth of its previous versions — as much as 40 Gbps — and remain backward-compatible with almost all earlier renditions. USB4 also demands that devices support the USB-PD Power Distribution protocol, allowing for power transfer and charging between devices. AMD's newest Linux kernel series have contained USB4 DisplayPort Tunneling and additional USB4/Thunderbolt employment. The company's latest endeavor is restructuring several Linux kernels around an "is_thunderbolt" check utilized by drivers within their kernel. This new technology will modify the device's behavior due to it being linked to a Thunderbolt port rather than presently connected to the PCIe to resolve if the device is removable or connected externally from the machine. That is_thunderbolt check started for early Intel Thunderbolt controllers that lacked command completed events. The USB4 DisplayPort Tunneling will take that identical signal and transform it into packets that can be transmitted along the USB-C cable instantaneously. This technology will allow fewer hardware devices and enable numerous signals to travel in an individual cable. Mario Limoncello, Principal Member Of Technical Staff at AMD, has published occasional revisions of the "is_thunderbolt" patch sequence last week. Eventually, the planned driver behavior includes the company's USB4 plans. The is_thunderbolt check is currently viewed as a kernel oddity, and AMD will also include additional Thunderbolt-style kernel code alterations in the series. The twelve Linux patches from AMD will also simplify the AMD and Nouveau driver codes for its paths concerning eGPU and removable GPU support and more. Link : https://www.pcgamer.com/babylons-fall-trial-version-will-hit-steam-in-march/ Upcoming hack-and-slash cooperative RPG Babylon's Fall will get one of those demos that's actually a free trial that lets you carry progress forward into the proper game. It'll come to Steam in late March, says Platinum on Japanese games site GamesTalk. The demo for the PS4/PS5 version, however, will pop up in late February. Unfortunately, Babylon's Fall will release on March 3rd. Yes, that's before you're getting a demo. You'll have to wait if you want to try before you buy, which is probably something we would have recommended you do anyways. Babylon's Fall is a solo or cooperative online multiplayer game for up to four people. It's a hack-and-slash RPG with gameplay that Platinum has described as "fluid." It's also Platinum's first live-service game, with plans for regular new content after release. You can know that's true because it'll have both free and paid-for Battle Passes—the first season is called "Eternal Tower." It's a bit confusing, but the paid-for premium Battle Pass will actually be free during the first season. The demo version will have support for up to four players, just like the live version. You can find Babylon's Fall on Steam, where it will release on March 3rd. Good spot, VGC.Jonathan Bolding Jon Bolding is a games writer and critic with an extensive background in strategy games. Link : https://www.techradar.com/news/google-is-shutting-down-currents-its-collaborative-workspace-that-probably-no-one-used It's no secret that Google has an interesting relationship with creating social media and messaging services – often with far less success than its search engines and, mobile operating systems. Add to the body of evidence the demise of Google Currents, introduced in 2019 as replacement for Google+ as part of the G Suite services, which the company has now announced is coming to an end. Instead, Google says enterprise customers should use Spaces, which it introduced in 2021 as part of Google Workspace, the replacement for G Suite for Enterprise. Here today, gone tomorrow "Since launching Spaces, many customers have told us that they appreciate the tight integration with Google Workspace products, including Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and Meet, and the seamless collaboration experience," says Google. As such, starting in 2023, Currents will be found down and its services moved over to Spaces. nyone impacted – which is surely a fairly small community – will be fully supported by Google in the transition, with Spaces offering many of the same tools as Currents but with tighter integration into other Google apps. "Upgrading Google Currents to Spaces removes a separate, siloed destination for users, and provides organizations with a modern, enterprise-grade experience that reflects how the world is working today," the company added. "Spaces provide a central place for teams to engage in topic-based discussions, share knowledge and ideas, move projects forward, and build communities and team culture." Responding to feedback is essential to succeed in the enterprise software space, where IT admins and end-users are the key consistency that must be heard. Creating frictions, or unnecessary faff, will likely spell the end of the product. With Workspace, Google has been challenging in a very crowded field. Seemingly all major companies offer some kind of SaaS tools for businesses, including Meta (formerly Facebook), which offers Workplace and runs its own business on it. The intense competition means that companies need to move fast and recognise when something isn't working, which Google appears to have done here. Link : https://wccftech.com/intel-sapphire-rapids-sp-xeon-amd-epyc-7773x-milan-x-cpu-cache-memory-benchmarks-leak/ Intel Sapphire Rapids-SP is expected to launch later this year but we have seen several Xeon CPUs leak in various benchmarks. The latest benchmarks compare the cache and memory performance of the Xeon chips against AMD's Milan-X parts. Intel Sapphire Rapids-SP Xeon vs AMD EPYC 7773X Milan-X Server CPUs: Benchmarks Leak In Cache & Memory Tests Update: The leaker has posted a new V-Ray and Cinebench benchmarks too comparing the three server chips against each other. The latest benchmarks of the Intel Sapphire Rapids-SP Xeon & AMD EPYC Milan-X CPUs have been leaked by YuuKi_AnS. The leaker was the first to get his hands on engineering samples of the Xeon Sapphire Rapids-SP lineup and the latest chip he got is a 48 core part with 96 threads, a 270W TDP, and clock speeds of 2.30 GHz base and 3.30 GHz boost. The CPU rocks 90 MB of L3 cache while the single-core boost frequency is rated at 3.60 GHz. The CPU is an ES chip with QSPEC of 'QYFQ' and is a D0 revision. This variant sits right below the flagship part which has a 1.6 GHz base clock and boosts a clock of 3.6 GHz across a single core. The flagship Intel Sapphire Rapids-SP Xeon CPU will feature 56 cores, 112 threads, a 105 MB L3 cache, and a 350W TDP. The CPU was tested in a dual-socket config with 96 cores and 192 threads which were compared to Intel's Xeon Platinum 8380 (Ice Lake-SP) and the AMD EPYC 7773X Milan-X CPUs, both of which were also running a dual-socket configuration. AMD EPYC 7773X Milan-X CPUs rock 64 cores and 128 thread and were configured with DDR4-2866 memory. The memory type for the Ice Lake-SP and Sapphire Rapids-SP Xeon CPUs isn't mentioned but the former should feature DDR4-3200 support while the latter comes with DDR5-4800 support. As for the benchmarks, the chips were tested in the AIDA64 Cache & Memory benchmark. With an 8-channel interface, the Intel Sapphire Rapids-SP Xeon CPUs show vastly superior memory & also latency performance over both AMD's EPYC Milan-X and Intel's Ice Lake-SP chips . The CPU cache latency is also looking great but Milan-X does manage to take the crown in the L3 cache tests. The EPYC Milan-X CPUs do get a slight hit to the overall latency but the overall performance is better as mentioned here. The Cinebench R15 benchmarks show that the Intel Sapphire Rapids-SP Xeon CPU is up to 9% faster and while it does have 22.5% extra cores, these cores are clocked at a much lower clock speed of 1.50 GHz versus the 2.30 GHz of the Ice Lake-SP parts. The ES chip is not that far behind the AMD EPYC 7773X Milan-X chips and the final version could definitely end up faster. In single-core tests, the Sapphire Rapids-SP chip outperforms the Milan-X CPU by 26% despite the clock advantage going to AMD.While Intel Sapphire Rapids-SP Xeon CPU looks quite good in these benchmarks, especially in ES state, we have to remember that the lineup will be competing against AMD's EPYC Genoa by the time it launches and not EPYC Milan-X so team red would still have a major advantage over team blue.

link: https://www.pcgamer.com/dying-light-2-force-choke-star-wars-secret-blueprint/ And to find this Star Wars secret you first have to make your way through a Doom secret. Techland didn't just fill the open world of Dying Light 2 with zombies, bandits, and parkour puzzles. There's also a ton of hidden blueprints, secret areas, and easter eggs crammed into the world, and players have been busy unearthing them since the game launched a week ago. And in some cases Techland has hidden secrets inside other secrets. For instance, the silly but satisfying Left Finger of gloVa, a weapon that lets you blast zombies and bandits simply by pointing at them, was cleverly hidden inside a developer room that itself was hidden inside a skyscraper only accessible through a complicated parkour puzzle. And there's another nesting doll of secrets in the game. In our Dying Light 2 easter eggs roundup, there's a recreation of a level from Doom (complete with a shotgun) hidden in the basement of the VNC skyscraper, which can be revealed by finding five evil rubber duckies scattered around Villedor. Inside that secret Doom level is another secret, only it's a Star Wars secret: a crafting blueprint that gives Aiden the ability to Force Choke his enemies. Here I thought you need to do a bunch of flips in a swamp to learn how to use the Force, but it looks like Aiden found a shortcut. He's a real parkour Padawan. Want to know how to get your hands on the Force Choke power yourself? Well, the duckie-collecting and Doom level activation is a lengthy process, but below there's an excellent video walkthrough from AshesWolf on YouTube. What you're looking for while blasting your way through the Doom level is a secret passage hidden behind a wall (you can see it at around 8:30 in the video) which is perfectly appropriate for Doom. The corridor leads to a room with a square green pool, and in the middle is a blueprint called Dying Force. Crafting the Dying Force is expensive: 369 scrap. But once you've got it equipped, Aiden can go all Sith on his enemies (or even any friendly Survivors or Peacekeepers he meets on random rooftops). The Force Choke effect doesn't last all that long—Aiden is clearly no Darth Vader—but the few seconds of throttling a dude while he dangles in the air is plenty of time to get in a couple free swings with your favorite electrified axe. As with the Left Finger of gloVa, you'll get 16 uses from the Dying Force before it breaks, and then you'll have to craft another. May the Force be with you, Aiden.Chris started playing PC games in the 1980s, started writing about them in the early 2000s, and (finally) started getting paid to write about them in the late 2000s. Following a few years as a regular freelancer, PC Gamer hired him in 2014, probably so he'd stop emailing them asking for more work. Chris has a love-hate relationship with survival games and an unhealthy fascination with the inner lives of NPCs. He's also a fan of offbeat simulation games, mods, and ignoring storylines in RPGs so he can make up his own.
