  1. A former Israeli space security chief has sent eyebrows shooting heavenward by saying that earthlings have been in contact with extraterrestrials from a "galactic federation." "The Unidentified Flying Objects have asked not to publish that they are here, humanity is not ready yet," Haim Eshed, former head of Israel's Defense Ministry's space directorate, told Israel's Yediot Aharonot newspaper. The interview in Hebrew ran on Friday, and gained traction after parts were published in English by the Jerusalem Post on Tuesday. A respected professor and retired general, Eshed said the aliens were equally curious about humanity and were seeking to understand "the fabric of the universe." Eshed said cooperation agreements had been signed between species, including an "underground base in the depths of Mars" where there are American astronauts and alien representatives. "There is an agreement between the U.S. government and the aliens. They signed a contract with us to do experiments here," he said. Eshed added that President Donald Trump was aware of the extraterrestrials' existence and had been "on the verge of revealing" information but was asked not to in order to prevent "mass hysteria." "They have been waiting until today for humanity to develop and reach a stage where we will understand, in general, what space and spaceships are," Eshed said, referring to the galactic federation. The White House, Department of Defense and Israeli officials did not immediately respond to NBC News’ request for comment. Eshed's ideas are spelled out in more detail in "The Universe Beyond the Horizon — conversations with Professor Haim Eshed" by Hagar Yanai published in November. Eshed, who oversaw the launch of numerous Israeli satellites into space, said he was only speaking out now because attitudes were changing and people seemed more receptive. "If I had come up with what I'm saying today five years ago, I would have been hospitalized," he told Yediot. "Today, they're already talking differently. I have nothing to lose. I've received my degrees and awards, I am respected in universities abroad." In May, Trump said, "Space is going to be the future, both in terms of defense and offense ... we're now the leader on space," as he was presented with the official flag of a newly created military branch, Space Force. Its focus, along with a Space Command, is on space as a military domain for the U.S., preserving satellites and communications and a focus on geo-politics in new terrain. The comment immediately spawned jokes and theories online. At least half-a-dozen accounts have been created on Twitter claiming to be representatives to earth from the "Galactic Federation." Others users have asked for preferential treatment and meetings with the group.
  2. Microsoft Teams has a host of new updates coming this month, many of which are focused on delivering improvements for smartphone users. Although the majority of Teams users will experience the platform on their PCs or laptops, the rise of remote working has also involved many employees working from their smartphones, meaning that Microsoft has had to improve the user experience for individuals that prefer the smaller screen. Perhaps the most noteworthy new feature is that Teams phones now support a new video layout, including a 3x3 gallery view. Using the 3x3 layout, users can see up to nine meeting participants at any one time. Larger meetings can employ a bigger gallery view that shows up to 49 participants, although that doesn’t sound particularly great unless your phone is incredibly large. Check out our list of the best video conferencing software Here's our list of the best collaboration tools around Here's our list of the best productivity tools out there Teams on the small screen Other new additions for phone users of Microsoft Teams include a new Together Mode where participants are transported to a virtual shared space. Background blurring is also provided to help participants remove distractions from their video calls. In addition, for more spontaneous moments of collaboration, phone users will now be able to select ‘Meet Now’ – a new instant meeting feature. And screen sharing will be made available for certain touch screen audio phones that meet the minimum hardware requirements. Other new features include spotlighting a particular video and a request to speak feature for when participants have been muted. With the video conferencing space becoming increasingly competitive as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, Microsoft Teams is clearly working hard to outdo its competitors in the smartphone space. “The Teams devices portfolio strives to give users options based on the space they use for work, the kind of collaboration they engage in, and their personal preferences for when and how they choose to get things done,” the Microsoft “We are constantly working to provide an intuitive and familiar experience for Teams on every device type, and this means carrying over the great features we have for meetings and calling into the phone experience as well.” We've also built a list of the best business webcams right now
  3. NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, RTX 3070 Ti, RTX 3060 & RTX 3050 graphics cards have been spotted at EEC which were submitted by MANLI and spotted by Komachi. The four graphics cards are expected to launch in January 2021 with the Ti variants offering improved specifications over the existing non-TI variants and the RTX 3060, 3050 bringing more mainstream budget options to consumers. NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, RTX 3070 Ti, RTX 3060 & GeForce RTX 3050 Submitted To The EEC By MANLI, Launch Expected Next Year All four graphics cards are nothing new and we have seen them in leaks before. Now the listing of these models doesn't necessarily mean that they are confirmed but it looks like MANLI is getting ready for the lineup which launches next year in 2021. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 'Rumored' Graphics Card Specifications Details from Kopite7kimi suggest that the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FE (Founders Edition) graphics card will feature the PG133-SKU15 PCB design and the GA102-250-KD-A1 graphics core. The GA102-250 GPU has also changed since the last time we saw them and is now exactly the same as the GeForce RTX 3090 at 10496 FP32 CUDA coresAs for memory, the card will feature 20 GB of GDDR6X memory. Unlike the 19.5 Gbps speeds of the RTX 3090, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is said to retain the same memory speeds as the RTX 3080 at 19 Gbps. Since we are getting a 20 GB bus interface, NVIDIA will be using a 320-bit bus interface which equals a total bandwidth of 760 GB/s. TGP for the card is set to be the same as the RTX 3080 at 320 Watts. That's definitely needed to feed the extra cores so NVIDIA might have to optimize the clocks a bit here. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 'Rumored' Graphics Card Specifications The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti on the other hand is expected to feature the GA102-150-A1 GPU. The graphics card is also going to feature the GA102 GPU which will be a huge upgrade from GA104 that the standard offering would feature. The GA102 GPU should also result in higher power input which should directly affect its TGP. According to Kopite7kimi, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti will utilize the PG132-SKU35 board which is different than the previous SKU that the graphics card was going to be based upon. The GPU will feature 7424 CUDA cores or 58 SMs. These are 26% more CUDA cores than the GeForce RTX 3070 and around 9% lower cores than the GeForce RTX 3080. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 'Rumored' Graphics Card Specifications The GeForce RTX 3060 is suggested to feature the GA106-400 GPU which is expected to feature 3840 FP32 cores in a total of 30 SM units. The graphics card will make use of the PG190 SKU by board partners which are both GA104 and GA106 pin-compatible. The graphics card has seen a range of memory specs update starting with 6 GB (14 Gbps) and now listed at 12 GB (16 Gbps). It is rumored that the card will feature a massive 12 GB memory buffer which is larger than that of the RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070, and even the RTX 3080. This is not confirmed yet but the reason could be that NVIDIA wants to really tackle AMD in the mainstream segment. Again, we saw rumors of 20 GB and 16 GB for the RTX 3080 & RTX 3070 too which didn't end up being true as they were early designs that were later on canceled. The card will feature a 192-bit bus interface and at 16 Gbps, delivering bandwidth of up to 384 GB/s. The GeForce RTX 3060 could end up being priced at $299 US which will make it a formidable graphics card that offers performance close to the RTX 2080 but with much higher memory capacity. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti 'Rumored' Graphics Card Specifications Just like the GeForce RTX 3060, the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti will also be featuring the GA106 GPU but a cut-down GA106-300 configuration. The card is expected to be based on the PG190 SKU 60 board which is different than the 40/50 variant that the RTX 3060 will utilize. The GPU is expected to come with 3584 FP32 cores in a total of 28 SM units. The GeForce RTX 3050 Ti is surprisingly going to feature a 6 GB GDDR6 memory interface too which is a big upgrade over its 4 GB predecessors. This suggests a 192-bit bus interface and we can also expect similar bandwidth numbers from the card if it ends up utilizing 16 Gbps memory dies. The green team could save some production costs and go for 14 Gbps memory dies here too. As for the pricing, the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti could launch around the $199-$249 US range. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 'Rumored' Graphics Card Specifications The GeForce RTX 3050 is suggested to feature the GA107-300 GPU which seems to be the most entry-level Ampere GPU at this point in desktop graphics cards. Only time will tell if we will see something even lower-end like the GA108 GPU but the RTX 3050 leaves little room for that. The card is expected to feature 2304 FP32 cores in a total of 18 SM units and is suggested to feature a 90W TGP.This would mean that the GeForce RTX 3050 will require an external 6-pin connector to boot unlike its predecessor, the GeForce GTX 1650, which conformed to a 75W TGP and didn't require any plug to boot in several custom variants. The GeForce RTX 3050 should feature a 128-bit bus interface & up to 4 GB of GDDR6 memory. We are likely to see speeds of 14 Gbps on the card but that remains to be confirmed. In terms of pricing, the GeForce RTX 3050 is expected to carry a sub-$200 US price of around $149 US.Once again, these are rumored specifications and these might change given how NVIDIA reacts to the upcoming AMD RDNA 2 'Radeon RX 6000' series announcements. The AMD Radeon RX 6700 series graphics cards are planned for a January 2021 launch too and we already know what they are going to look like and the specifications they will offer so it's going to be a heated winter this time in the mainstream graphics card segment.
  4. Ubisoft has made the difficult decision to delay Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake past its original release date next month to 18th March 2021. Currently planned for release on PlayStation 4 (playable on PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility), the push back allows the developer to "ensure we deliver a game you enjoy". The remake has been widely criticised for not exactly looking the part with a poor selection of screenshots released upon its reveal. The publisher's statement reads: "We are excited to be able to put this game in your hands again as we retell the story of Prince and Farah in the amazing 11th century Persia. However, 2020 was a year like no other. Today we would like to inform you that we need more time to complete the game. With that, the release date of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has been moved to March 18, 2021. We believe this is the right decision to ensure we deliver a game you enjoy. Thank you for your patience and continued support of the Prince of Persia, and we hope you remain safe and healthy during this holiday season." Let's hope this delay allows the development team to get the project in a much better shape. Have you been looking forward to Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake? Try and fast forward time in the comments below.

  6. Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) is moving closer to getting linked with six other top bourses in Africa with purchase of key software that will facilitate the linkage. The African Exchanges Linkage Project (AELP), which is driving the agenda, mid-last month opened bid for an order routing platform that will be crucial for seamless cross-border trading. “The selected IT firms that are invited to bid had earlier prequalified through a widely advertised request for expression of interest process which attracted applications from top firms across 18 countries,” said the African Securities Exchanges Association (Asea). “The AELP link technology platform will channel client orders from a stockbroker on one participating Exchange to a stockbroker on another Exchange, where it will be executed.” AELP is a joint initiative of Asea and the African Development Bank (AfDB). Currently, one can trade across the border but the process is cumbersome since it involves appointing a broker in the other country and routing of orders must happen in that particular country. Order routing is the process by which an order goes from the end-user to an exchange. The order may go directly to the exchange from the customer or go first to a broker who then routes it to the exchange. The participating exchanges include NSE, Casablanca Stock Exchange, The Egyptian Exchange, Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), The Nigerian Stock Exchange, the Stock Exchange of Mauritius and BRVM, which is a regional bourse for eight West African countries. The seven stock exchanges have a market capitalisation of about Sh132.5 trillion ($1.21 trillion), which JSE being the largest. AELP says it is keen on procuring an order-routing solution that is already working and then customise it for the participating exchanges and stockbrokers. NSE chief executive Geoffrey Odundo said they hope to realise the project next year and stimulate cross-border trading of securities across the participating Exchanges. “All the discussions around how the market players will connect is almost complete. The next step will be to connect the pilot Exchanges,” said Mr Odundo. The development comes at a time Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania have linked their Exchanges.
  7. Every gift guide you'll find this year will have a huge number of headsets, keyboards, mice, and other accessories for a gamer of every age and platform preference. We wanted to take a moment to look at some gifts that will truly be something that a gamer never knew they wanted! There's a lot of RGB-enabled stuff on this year's gift guide but with so many gamers shifting into online streaming, they certainly could use some decorations to spice up their streaming backdrops! Chances are, the gamer you're shopping for already has a headset in mind for their console of choice (and if not, definitely check out our gift guide for 5 perfect headsets!). One gift they certainly won't be expecting is a pair of shoes that can link together with their music and gaming for a whole body sensory experience. The Droplabs EP01 are a fantastic pair of shoes with embedded speakers that react in sync with whatever you're listening to, whether you're listening to music, watching a Michael Bay film or playing a game on the go. These sync together with any Bluetooth 4.2 capable device, or with an optional $24 Low-Latency Sync Cable, can be hooked up in line with anything that offers a 3.5mm cable. With compatibility with most VR headsets, both next-gen consoles, and so much more, the possibilities are endless.Move over 5G, 6G is the new must-have tech addition for gamers. Depending on where you live in the world, winter will soon be approaching and that means you're going to need some way to stay warm when your hot streak starts coming to an end. As the winter months are starting to roll in here in Ohio, I've been using the Selk'bag Lite 6G for a few weeks and despite looking like the strange crossbreed between a sauna suit and a Snuggie, it's been insanely comfortable to just lounge around and get some late night Black Ops matches in. If the world was in the right state for midnight launches for the new consoles, this is the kind of outfit I'd wear to make it through the cold hours. It even comes with removeable booties if you want to wear the Selk'bag Lite 6G around the house and not get cold feet! Razer Kraken BT Kitty Edition Razer's mantra of installing RGB on every device they make certainly hasn't missed their line of headsets. Their Kraken headsets for PC were a huge hit when they launched with online influencers and they even released a set of clip-on cat ears to accessorize the po[CENSORED]r gaming headset. Now, Razer has combined their love for pink cats and RGB together in a unique headset that puts those cheap Brookstone models to shame. The Razer Kraken BT edition headset is a comfortable Bluetooth gaming headset that features two internal beamforming mics for clear voice chat on streams as well as up to 50 hours of battery life (20+ if you opt to leave the RGB lighting on for the cat ears and earcups). The headset also features a low latency gaming mode if mobile gaming is your passion and you don't want to miss an enemy sneaking up on you. Twinkly Smart Decorations Continuing the trend of RGB lighting for gamers, Twinkly has recently launched a set of sound-reactive curtain lights that can make for a great backdrop for Twitch streams or even around the house for those small group get-togethers this Holiday season. The new Twinkly Music USB dongle can even take any music source and provide a reactive backdrop to your holiday parties or Twitch streams. With Razer Chroma RGB integration, the Twinkly suite of smart lighting can loop in together with your Chroma-enabled keyboards, mice, and even those RGB Kraken BT Kitty headphones above. Corsair iCue LT100 If the gamer in your life can spare some extra desk space and wants to turn their whole gaming setup into an audio-visual centerpiece, Logitech has some mood lighting that's perfect for the occasion. The iCue LT100 smart lighting towers can be placed anywhere and link up to four towers together for some awesome ambient lighting. Each tower comes with 46 addressable RGB LEDs that can synchronize with the whole computer system via the iCue software, react to audio, and even extend beyond what's happening onscreen either beside the display or behind it for bias lighting. The $129.99 starter kit comes with everything you need to set up two LT100 towers while additional expansion towers can be purchased for $59.99 each. Garmin Instinct Esports Watch Normally I wouldn't consider a watch to be gaming gear unless it can do something unique when it comes to gaming. Many modern smartwatches offer biometric readouts to analyze your heart rate and stress but they typically don't give you an easy way to access that information especially if you're in the middle of a high stakes Warzone match. Garmin's Esports edition of the Instinct line of smartwatches remedies that with the inclusion of their STR3EAMUP! software. Through integration with OBS and other streaming software, gamers can add in their stress level, heart rate, and other biometric data into their online streams and even trigger events and overlays if their stress reaches a certain point. The Esports features aren't limited to just streaming either; gamers can use the various biometric trackers to analyze their training routines (including real workout routines and not just some CoD bot matches) to train smarter, not harder. Price: $299.99 Need other gift recommendations? Let us know in the comments below and we'll seek out other items to focus in our holiday gift guides. When all else fails, a gift card for Steam, PlayStation Network, Nintendo eShop or the Microsoft Store all make excellent stocking stuffers when you know what console the gamer in your life plays on but don't want to accidentally purchase them the wrong version of Call of Duty.
  8. Since 2001's Halo: The Fall of Reach, novels set within the Halo universe have released at a rate of over one a year. On March 2, 2021, Halo: Point of Light will release, and this novel will bring the Halo series up to 30 novels. Halo: Point of Light ends a trilogy that began with Halo: Smoke and Shadow in 2016, then continued with 2019's Halo: Renegades. All three books were written by Kelly Gay, who also featured in the Halo: Fractures short story compilation (which is separate from the 30 novels). The novel has been announced on Halo Waypoint. The book, which will pick up in August 2558, is about Rion and the crew aboard Ace of Spades, as they outrun the fallout from previous books. The Office of Naval Intelligence is after them, and the synopsis provided says that they'll be "unlocking untold secrets and even deadlier threats that have been hidden away for centuries from an unsuspecting universe. The novel's cover image has been designed by William "Pixelflare" Cameron; you can check the art out below. The Halo novel series is made up of various standalone adventures, trilogies (Forerunner Saga, Kilo-Five, A Master Chief Story) and young adult novels (Battle Born and Meridian Divide).
  9. New York, Airflow patterns inside a car's passenger cabin offers some suggestions for potentially reducing the risk of Covid-19 transmission while sharing rides with others, say researchers, including one of Indian-origin. The study, published in the journal Science Advances, used computer models to simulate the airflow inside a compact car with various combinations of windows open or closed. The simulations showed that opening windows -- the more windows the better -- created airflow patterns that dramatically reduced the concentration of airborne particles exchanged between a driver and a single passenger. The researchers found that blasting the car's ventilation system didn't circulate air nearly as well as a few open windows. "Driving around with the windows up and the air conditioning or heat on is definitely the worst scenario, according to our computer simulations," said study author Asimanshu Das from the Brown University in the US. "The best scenario we found was having all four windows open, but even having one or two open was far better than having them all closed," Das added. The computer models used in the study simulated a car, loosely based on a Toyota Prius, with two people inside -- a driver and a passenger sitting in the back seat on the opposite side from the driver. The researchers chose that seating arrangement because it maximizes the physical distance between the two people (though still less than the 6 feet recommended by the CDC). The models simulated airflow around and inside a car moving at 50 miles per hour, as well as the movement and concentration of aerosols coming from both driver and passenger. Aerosols are tiny particles that can linger in the air for extended periods of time. They are thought to be one way in which the SARS-CoV-2 virus is transmitted, particularly in enclosed spaces. The study showed that different combinations of open windows created different air currents inside the car that could either increase or decrease exposure to remaining aerosols. Because of the way air flows across the outside of the car, air pressure near the rear windows tends to be higher than pressure at the front windows. As a result, air tends to enter the car through the back windows and exit through the front windows. With all the windows open, this tendency creates two more-or-fewer independent flows on either side of the cabin. Since the occupants in the simulations were sitting on opposite sides of the cabin, very few particles end up being transferred between the two. The driver in this scenario is at slightly higher risk than the passenger because the average airflow in the cargoes from back to front, but both occupants experience a dramatically lower transfer of particles compared to any other scenario. The simulations found that while this configuration is better than no windows down at all, it carries a higher exposure risk compared to putting down the window opposite each occupant. "That pattern helps to reduce cross-contamination between the driver and passenger," the authors wrote.
  10. Speaking at Yale, actor Shah Rukh Khan said, “Don’t expect words of wisdom from me. I’m just gonna tell my life’s journey in very simple words, and which may not leave you inspired but will help you survive this life. And if you can do that kids, if you can survive, happiness, creativity and success will follow on its own. Only I hope my words will give you enough insight when you hear the story that I have to tell you, that you can tell the world, world move over, you are standing on my oxygen tube, I need to breathe.”“So journeys can be defined by age and time or even by destinations as most often they are, but I feel it’s hard for me to tell you the story of my life in those terms because the concept of time has always eluded me. The day my father died seemed longer than my entire childhood. The day I felt my first success seemed fleetingly hour long, not long enough perhaps. I wonder where it went. Even the cycle of time confounds me. I worked at night, I worked the dark until the sunrise on most days and fall asleep as the world awakens to light. My friends call me an owl. I like to think of myself as a bat, Batman the prince of darkness.”Speaking on failure, he said, “Whatever happened to me happened because I have always been terrified of failure. I don’t want as much as I want to succeed as much as I don’t want to fail. Do not be afraid to defy conventions, do not be afraid to destroy systems that kill art and your souls, do not be afraid to be hungry, and do not afraid to walk alone if necessary. Because on a tight rope we all walk alone. And remember if you are a creator you are a funambulist.”
  11. Marianne Bertrand, Rebecca Dizon-Ross, Kaushik Krishnan, Heather Schofield What do the data say about the nature and shape of India’s ongoing economic recovery? There are many ways to measure recovery. We can look at summary measures of national economic performance, such as government revenues, industrial production, and GDP. Both tax and non-tax government revenues have grown year-on-year. Industrial output has also been steadily rising, though this slowed down for a few core sectors in October. Indeed, this is also reflected in the strong GDP numbers from Q2, which were fuelled by the growth in both private consumption and investment demand, though they are still lower than their corresponding levels from a year ago. Another way to monitor recovery is to start from the bottom up. Household surveys allow researchers to study the economy at the level of individual households. The Consumer Pyramids Household Survey (CPHS) conducted by CMIE measures the well-being of over 174,000 households across a range of indicators at relatively high frequency. One measure of household economic well-being from CPHS is unemployment, which showed a remarkable recovery. Opinion | A recovery led by profits, at the expense of wages, has implications for demand, inequality and policy We were prompted by this sharp change to investigate whether other indicators of economic well-being confirmed this. In our work, we consider an alternative measure of labour market health, the employment-to-po[CENSORED]tion ratio, as well as other measures of household economic health such as per-capita income and expenditure. Along these dimensions, there is evidence of a recovery, but it is less strong. We also document that the recovery is not evenly distributed across Indian states. Unemployment shot up in the immediate aftermath of the Covid-induced lockdown. But the latest CMIE data suggest that the unemployment rate is back to pre-Covid levels. Is the stress of creating new jobs over? No. The unemployment rate is just one measure of labour market stress. A high unemployment rate suggests that there are many people who want jobs, but are not able to get jobs. Indeed, after a sharp spike, the unemployment rate dropped to pre-pandemic levels. This could be because everyone who reported as unemployed and looking for work during the pandemic was able to find a job quickly. Another possibility is that workers who lost jobs during the pandemic were discouraged from even looking for jobs, and left the labour force entirely. If workers left the labour force entirely, we should see a drop in the employment-to-po[CENSORED]tion ratio, or ‘Epop’. This is also called the employment rate or the Worker Po[CENSORED]tion Ratio (WPR). It is the number of people employed as a fraction of the total working age po[CENSORED]tion. A reduction in this measure implies an overall reduction in employment. ExplainSpeaking| How robust is India’s economic recovery post Covid-19 lockdown?

  16. OTTAWA -- EPIC Fitness and Lifestyle in Ottawa has closed its doors for the final time, saying "we have surrendered" to the COVID-19 pandemic "As a small boutique business in the fitness and wellness industry, we stand no chance against this pandemic," said EPIC Fitness and Lifestyle Founder and CEO Stephanie Karlovits. "With the public perception of the virus, having a large physical location to keep up with, and being a business whose economic power is derived from people congregating together, breathing heavily (one must see the humour in the tragedy), it simply is not possible to continue." Karlovits writes that her business was not eligible for government funding to assist with the rent costs. "We did not feel it appropriate to reopen our doors in line with the wishes of our many clients, and it would have cost us more to open than to stay closed regardless," said Karlovits. "Our landlords have suffered themselves throughout this time, and we could not find a suitable way forward doing things the old way. Everything has changed." Karlovits says the current employees of EPIC Fitness and Lifestyle are now business owners themselves. The final day for Epic Fitness was Friday, Dec. 4. EPIC Fitness was located on Beechwood Avenue. "Our teachings have stayed constant, centered on liberation – liberation through body movement, holistic nutrition, nature and self care," writes Karlovits in the social media post titled "We have surrendered." Jacqui Lewis, senior minister for public theology and transformation at Middle Collegiate Church, a Reformed Protestant congregation that predates the American Revolution. “The sanctuary is gone, absolutely gone.” ImageCongregants and East Village residents stood in the cold rain and watched, some crying and others shaking their heads in disbelief, as firefighters put out what remained of the fire.Credit...Jeenah Moon for The New York Times The cause of the fire at the vacant building at 47 East 7th Street, which was reported at 4:48 a.m., is under investigation, officials said. Four firefighters had minor injuries, John Hodgens, an assistant fire chief, said.

  20. Looks like you’ll be able to toggle Cyberpunk 2077’s settings to get the kind of performance you want – well, on PS4 Pro and PlayStation 5 anyway. A leaked screenshot shared on Reddit from the Xbox Series X version of the game shows Performance and Quality options, which are fairly standard toggles on console games these days. While the images are clearly from a build running on Microsoft’s machine, we’d be flabbergasted if the settings weren’t also present on Sony’s systems. In the menu, the game explains: “Choose between performance and image quality. In performance mode, framerate will be prioritised at the expense of image quality. In quality mode, framerate will be capped at a lower value to prioritise image quality.” The way the description is worded suggests Performance mode may target 60 frames-per-second, but we’ll need to wait for further confirmation on that front. The person who shared the screenshot had the following insight to share: “I prefer Performance mode. The game runs at 60 frames-per-second with occasional dips (again pre-Day 1 patch). Resolution takes a hit but overall image quality doesn't suffer enough to justify playing this game at 30 frames-per-second in my opinion.” It’s worth remembering that, if you play on PS5, depending on how the game’s been designed, you should get the max possible settings across the board.
