Samsung plans to start manufacturing laptops at its facility in Noida later this year, according to a top company executive. The South Korean tech conglomerate already manufactures its smartphones in the country — these are sold domestically as well as exported — and is already making preparations to begin assembling laptops here. Samsung currently produces its laptops in China and Vietnam, and the laptop models that it plans to produce here are expected to be sold in the Indian market. TM Roh, Samsung's Mobile Division President, stated at a media briefing (via Mint) on Monday that the company is preparing to manufacture its laptops in the country. "Noida is a very important production base for Samsung. It is the second largest base for Samsung. There may be some changes at the plant to optimize it as per the global demand but what remains unchanged is the fact that it is an important base for us," he said. Last September, it was reported that Samsung was preparing to produce its laptops in the country a month later, at its Noida facility. While it appears those plans were delayed, the company has now confirmed that it will produce its laptops in India. Samsung to Make Galaxy S24 Series in India for Local, Global Markets The government placed restrictions on the import of laptops in August 2023, as part of its efforts to boost domestic manufacturing. Apple, HP, and Samsung halted laptop imports at the time, after which the government granted firms a three-month period before the licensing regime for laptop imports came into effect. However, before the three-month period was up, the government reversed its decision and said it would not impose the licensing requirement on imports of laptops and computers. At the time, the government said it would only monitor inbound shipments of these laptops. Last May, the government announced the PLI 2.0 scheme for IT hardware with an outlay of Rs. 17,000 crore. India reportedly imported computers and laptops worth $7.37 billion (roughly Rs. 61,300 crore) in 2021-22, which fell to $5.33 billion (roughly Rs. 44,300 crore) in 2022-23. https://www.gadgets360.com/laptops/news/samsung-laptop-manufacturing-noida-plant-make-in-india-4960747#pfrom=topstory

The computer age introduced a new element to businesses, universities, and a multitude of other organizations: a set of components called the information system, which deals with collecting and organizing data and information. An information system is described as having five components. This is the physical technology that works with information. Hardware can be as small as a smartphone that fits in a pocket or as large as a supercomputer that fills a building. Hardware also includes the peripheral devices that work with computers, such as keyboards, external disk drives, and routers. With the rise of the Internet of Things, in which anything from home appliances to cars to clothes will be able to receive and transmit data, sensors that interact with computers are permeating the human environment. Computer software The hardware needs to know what to do, and that is the role of software. Software can be divided into two types: system software and application software. The primary piece of system software is the operating system, such as Windows or iOS, which manages the hardware’s operation. Application software is designed for specific tasks, such as handling a spreadsheet, creating a document, or designing a Web page. Telecommunications This component connects the hardware together to form a network. Connections can be through wires, such as Ethernet cables or fibre optics, or wireless, such as through Wi-Fi. A network can be designed to tie together computers in a specific area, such as an office or a school, through a local area network (LAN). If computers are more dispersed, the network is called a wide area network (WAN). The Internet itself can be considered a network of networks. https://www.britannica.com/story/5-components-of-information-systems

Computer buzzing sounds are usually innocuous and easy to fix, but there's always the possibility it could be a sign of something more serious. We've gathered all the best fixes for buzzing, clicking, vibrating, and other noises and explained them in detail below. Why Is My Computer Buzzing? Many different reasons could cause a buzzing sound coming from your computer. These include: A loose component in the case Fan-related issue Failing hard drive The power supply It very much depends on what kind of "buzzing" sound your computer is producing. Does it sound like an electrical buzz? Does it sound more like a vibration? Are the fans spinning up faster and louder than usual? Does the buzzing sound have a physical grinding sound to it? How to Fix Your Computer When It's Buzzing A general buzzing sound isn't an apparent symptom of a problem. Therefore, it's not a great way to diagnose an issue. However, here are some things to check and some potential solutions to those problems. Rattling, vibration, buzzing: If you're hearing a buzzing sound that sounds like something is vibrating or rattling around inside your PC, it could be from a loose screw or cable that's moving freely or stuck in a fan. An excellent way to test for this is to turn your PC off and tilt it forwards, backward, and side to side to see if you hear a screw or something else rattling around as it falls or moves around the case. If it sounds like something's loose in there, all you need to do is unplug your PC's cables and open up the case. Then use a light to see if you can find the errant screw or object causing the rattling or buzzing sound. You should also check any fans you have to see if cables or other things are obstructing them and causing a noise when they spin up. Loud fans with buzzing: If your computer's fans are running faster and louder than usual with a buzzing sound, it could be that they're clogged with dust, or the bearings are starting to go. The best way to check this is to turn off and unplug your computer, then open the side panel. Look at the metal heatsinks on the graphics card and CPU and see if they've collected dust. It's also good to check the intake vents at the front of the PC to see if any dust filters are clogged. If so, use a can of compressed air to clean them out. You can also use a lint-free cloth to wipe down the fan blades, but be careful, they're pretty delicate. If the sound persists even after you've cleaned your PC in this way, it may be that a specific fan's bearings are failing. The only way to fix that is to replace the fan. How to Fix a Computer Fan That's Loud or Making Noise High-pitched buzzing: If the buzzing you're hearing is high-pitched, it could be what's known as coil whine. It isn't necessarily a problem, even if it is annoying, as coil whine is merely an electronic phenomenon when components vibrate at the exact frequency to produce the high-pitched whine. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do short of replacing the offending component, as most manufacturers don't offer warranties or guarantees for coil whine. Grinding, clicking, buzzing: If you hear an irregular ticking or grinding sound along with the buzzing, it could be that one or more of your hard drives are starting to fail. Run a disk checking application to test the health of the drive. If it is starting to fail, you'll need to replace the hard drive. What to Do When Your Hard Drive Is Making Noise Buzzing from your power supply: Regardless of what kind of buzzing you're hearing, if you deduce it's coming from your power supply, then you should replace it with a high-quality PSU as fast as possible. You can test the power supply first if you have the right tools. Excessive coil whine, a broken fan, or other component degradation could lead to your power supply failing, which has the potential to damage the rest of your PC.

There are many angry toys out there that call the Playtime Co. factory home, one of which happens to be Poppy Playtime’s Boxy Boo. Not to worry if you’re unfamiliar with the spooky monster-like jack in the box, as we’re on hand to tell you everything that you need to know about him. We go over his history, role in the game, appearances, personality, and more.If you want to know more about the other Playtime Co. toys, check out our Poppy Playtime toys, Poppy Playtime Poppy, Poppy Playtime PJ Pug-a-Pillar, Poppy Playtime Mommy Long Legs, Poppy Playtime Kissy Missy, Poppy Playtime Huggy Wuggy, and Poppy Playtime Boogie Bot guides. Just prepare yourself for the Poppy Playtime factory. One look at these toys might make you ask what the Poppy Playtime age rating is. Playtime Co. created Boxy Boo in 1966, meaning his release is five years after Bron’s. Unfortunately, he isn’t as successful as the likes of Bron, Poppy, and Huggy Wuggy, meaning when the time comes for mascot lineup in the 90s, he’s stuck on the shelf. Things just get worse for the poor toy, as while his performance at retail isn’t good enough, Playtime Co. finds a use for him through an array of experiments. The Boxy Boo you meet in Project Playtime is part of the Bigger Bodies Initiative, a series of experiments with the intent of turning poor orphans into giant toys. As you can probably guess, this Boxy Boo is one of the successful candidates. To dive a little deeper into Boxy Boo’s history, he is one of the toys that participates in the 1995 Playtime Co. massacre, during which the toys kill many staff members. Besides Boxy Boo, the Prototype, CatNap, Mommy Long Legs, and Mommy Long Legs took part. Going one step further, Boxy, Mommy, and Huggy would go on to kill an scientist that dare return to the factory to continue the Big Buddy Inititiative https://www.pockettactics.com/poppy-playtime/boxy-boo

Ford revealed the F-150 Lightning Switchgear, the brand's latest electric performance demonstrator, in North Carolina today. A collaboration with RTR Vehicles, the electric pickup has an unmodified 580-hp powertrain but sports unique bodywork and off-road equipment. The suspension is beefed up with Fox off-road dampers, while 37-inch tires contribute to a much improved ride height. Many car enthusiasts are wary of the impending switch to electric cars. Can EVs incite the same thrill as gas-powered sports cars, despite hurdles like hefty curb weights and a lack of auditory stimulation? Ford thinks they can, and has spent the past few years trying to prove so with a series of demonstration vehicles. After a 1400-hp electric Mustang-based dragster and the F-100 Eluminator restomod came the Mustang Mach-E 1400, an angry-looking take on the brand's mid-size electric crossover with seven electric motors. Next came a new iteration of Ford's legendary Supervan, with over 1400 electric horsepower helping the van conquer last year's Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Now Ford has unveiled its latest project, the F-150 Lightning Switchgear, at an event in Charlotte, North Carolina, today. A joint effort with drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr.'s company, RTR Vehicles, the Switchgear is based on a F-150 Lightning with the extended-range battery. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain is unchanged from the stock car, pushing out a potent 580 hp and 775 pound-feet of torque. The 131.0-kWh battery, rated for 320 miles of range in the normal Lightning, also remains the same. "We Want to Own Off-Road" Two versions of the Switchgear exist, one tailored to on-road performance and one designed for getting off the beaten path. Details are light on the pavement-spec Switchgear, with Ford currently focusing on the off-road variant. "We want to own off-road," Ford CEO Jim Farley told media in Charlotte. "If Porsche has been the dominant brand in road racing, we want Ford to be the dominant brand in off-road racing."The first thing you'll notice about the Switchgear is that it doesn't look like your ordinary F-150 Lightning. Instead, that snazzy motorsports livery is plastered onto custom bodywork, with beefier carbon-composite fenders that conceal an increase in track width. The front and rear track now measure 80 inches, up from roughly 68 inches on the stock Lightning. This results in better stability when traversing rough terrain, and the widened track sits behind a steel fabricated front bumper on the off-road model. The street-spec Switchgear wears a carbon-composite front end. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a46427022/ford-f-150-lightning-switchgear-revealed/

If the words in Manchester United's statement on Marcus Rashford, released late on Monday night, sounded familiar, it is not a trick of the mind. Two months ago, when the England international partied at Chinawhite nightclub after the derby undressing against Manchester City, Erik ten Hag said "he apologised and that is it. It is an internal matter".The location and context has changed - Rashford reporting himself ill for training last Friday after going out in Belfast the previous two nights - but the protagonist and United's communication remains the same. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/37134/13059988/marcus-rashford-manchester-united-forward-on-a-collision-course-with-ineos-not-just-erik-ten-hag-writes-melissa-reddy

Parcel delivery firm UPS has said it will cut 12,000 jobs, after it was hit by a softer economy and a labour fight that scared away some customers. Chief executive Carol Tomé said 2023 was a "difficult and disappointing year", and the firm was investing in artificial intelligence (AI) as it pushes to become more efficient. She has also called staff back to the office five days a week. The job cuts are expected to reduce costs by $1bn (£790m) this year. UPS, whose business is seen as an indicator of wider economic health, struggled last year with a fall in sales and profits, as the number of packages handled by the firm declined. The company said that reflected economic weakness in Europe and parts of Asia, as well as disruption in the US, where a strike threatened by staff over the summer led some customers to shift their business to rivals. UPS said it had since won back about 60% of that business and expected modest growth to start to return this year, with average daily volumes flat or up 2% in the US and flat or up 3% internationally. But its forecast was weaker than analysts had expected, sending shares down more than 7%. It also warned that costs associated with its new contract with the Teamsters union would continue to weigh on the company over the next six months. As part of that deal, the average full-time driver won a pay and benefits package worth about $170,000 (£135,000) a year. The 12,000 planned job cuts represent about 2.5% of the company's global workforce, which has already shrunk since the pandemic when a surge in online shopping prompted business to boom. Executives said most of the positions would be cut from the ranks of its 85,000 management staff, as well as some contractors. Those positions will not return, even as the business mends, executives said. "It's a change in the way we work," said chief financial officer Brian Newman. The company is also exploring a potential sale of Coyote, a truck load brokerage business it purchased in 2015, which matches truckers to customers. Ms Tomé said the firm sees many opportunities in the years ahead to boost productivity. "Technology has changed so much in the past year when you think about the advent of generative AI and applications inside our business," she said. "I'm really excited about what the changes will mean." On its busiest days, UPS sorts 50 million packages in the US and delivers more than 30 million parcels worldwide. Ms Tomé said the firm was worried about how shipping would be affected by disruption from conflict in the Red Sea, as well as drought in the Panama Canal, which has made it hard for ships to travel typical routes. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-68144738
