West Ham have held talks with Julen Lopetegui and could make a decision on manager David Moyes' future before the end of the season. Moyes has repeatedly fended off questions about whether he will remain at the club, saying talks will not take place until after their final game at Manchester City on 19 May. While that is still the plan, BBC Sport understands there is a small possibility of West Ham reaching an earlier conclusion on Moyes’ tenure. Talks with Lopetegui have been positive, although sources are adamant no decision has been made on Moyes and the final outcome will be what is regarded as being best for the team. The uncertainty over Moyes has bemused many outsiders, who question why the respected Scot is under so much pressure as he closes in on what would be a third top-half finish in four full seasons at the London Stadium. He presided over three successive European campaigns for the first time in the club’s history and last June ended the Hammers' 43-year wait for a trophy with a last-minute victory over Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final. However, many fans are critical of what they view as Moyes’ negative tactics. Lopetegui has been without a job since leaving Wolves on the eve of the current campaign, believing promises made over his playing budget had not been kept. The former Spain and Real Madrid coach has been linked with numerous jobs since and is thought to be keen on returning to the Premier League after guiding Wolves to safety last term, having joined them when they were bottom of the table. It is known other options are being considered. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cp6g15grwelo

UK Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron has said it is up to Ukraine to decide how to use British weapons and insisted it has the right to strike targets on Russian territory. During a visit to Kyiv, he said the UK would provide £3bn ($3.75bn) per year for as long as necessary. "Just as Russia is striking inside Ukraine, you can quite understand why Ukraine feels the need to make sure it's defending itself," Lord Cameron said. Russia condemned what it called "another very dangerous statement". "This is a direct escalation of tension around the Ukrainian conflict, which would potentially pose a threat to European security," said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. Lord Cameron did not directly endorse the idea of British weapons being used to strike targets inside Russia. But until now, the UK has generally let it be understood - without spelling it out - that weapons such as the long range Storm Shadow missile should only be used inside sovereign Ukrainian territory. There have been several examples of its successful use in Russian-occupied Crimea, including against elements of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet. However, coming on the heels of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s pledge to give Ukraine £3bn ($3.76bn) in military assistance every year for the foreseeable future, it seems Lord Cameron wanted to emphasise that it is up to Ukraine to decide what it does with it. The US has reportedly urged Ukraine to halt its strikes on oil refineries in Russia, fearing it could provoke an escalation in the conflict. Mr Peskov also took aim at French President Emmanuel Macron, who said this week that the West would "legitimately" have to consider whether to send ground troops to Ukraine "if the Russians were to break through the front lines, if there were a Ukrainian request". Mr Macron's remarks to The Economist were a "very dangerous trend", said the Kremlin spokesman. However, the French leader made clear in his interview that if Russia won in Ukraine, there would be no security in Europe. Russian forces have seized several villages in eastern Ukraine during recent advances, taking advantage of Ukraine's shortages of weapons and manpower. Ukrainian intelligence officials also believe Russia is gearing up for a summer offensive in the north-eastern regions of Kharkiv and Sumy. The commander of the national guard, Oleksandr Pivnenko, warned recently that Russia was preparing "unpleasant surprises" and quietly recruiting 30,000 people a month. A Russian strike on Kharkiv on Friday killed an elderly woman in her home, and a tram carrying passengers also came under fire, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov. Ukraine's military says Russia's immediate target is the strategic hilltop town of Chasiv Yar, 15km (9 miles) west of the devastated city of Bakhmut. Officials believe the eastern town could enable Russian forces to attack major eastern cities such as Kramatorsk and Slovyansk. The military has suggested Moscow is keen to seize Chasiv Yar before Russians mark victory in World War Two on 9 May. However, a Ukrainian military spokesman has denied that Russian troops have broken through to the Siverskyi Donetsk-Donbas canal on the outskirts of the town. Russia claimed on Friday that its forces had captured three villages in Ukraine's east in the past two weeks. Military spokesman Lt Col Nazar Voloshyn said the invading force had gained a foothold in the village of Ocheretyne but Ukrainian soldiers were working to drive them out. Lord Cameron, who met President Volodymr Zelensky in Kyiv, said it was Russia that had launched an attack into Ukraine and Ukraine "absolutely has the right to strike back at Russia". Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said his remarks were tantamount to admitting the West was involved in a "hybrid war" against Moscow. The UK has provided billions of pounds in military support for Ukraine since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022, ranging from tanks and precision-guided missiles to air-defence systems. A year ago the UK confirmed it had begun supplying long-range Storm Shadow cruise missiles with a range of more than 250km (155 miles). Meanwhile, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said he had appealed to Lord Cameron to help restore the country's energy infrastructure which has been badly damaged by repeated Russian missile strikes. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c163kp93l6po

The breakout success of Helldivers 2 has brought renewed focus on the game's major inspiration: Paul Verhoeven's Starship Troopers, loosely based on the Robert Heinlein novel. Even though Arrowhead's done a good job of making the Helldivers universe feel like its own thing, it wears its love for this movie on both shoulder pads, and the game is packed with references and tributes. Starship Troopers generally has been having a good time of late, with contemporary audiences re-discovering one of Verhoeven's typically OTT masterworks alongside some half-decent Starship Troopers games appearing. But it's Helldivers that has really stepped on the gas and ever since its launch Casper Van Dien, who starred as Johnny Rico in Starship Troopers, has shown more than an interest in getting involved. Van Dien recently gave an interview to Gamology, in which he watches some clips of Helldivers 2 cinematics and gameplay and offers some commentary about the similarities he's seeing. The video would be perfect for a democratic drinking game, as it helpfully adds up how many times Van Dien says something along the lines of "it's just like Starship Troopers!" By the end your liver will have died for democracy, son. "Of course I love the idea of Helldivers 2 and you never know," says Van Dien. "I'm open, you see what happens. I already feel like I'm a part of it. You never know if [it was] Helldivers 2 or the Starship Troopers Extermination game I'd be very interested, it's something I think is cool. Of course I'm very particular with my Starship, I love being Johnny Rico, but the general looks pretty good too in [Helldivers 2]." Van Dien spends most of this video watching things happening in Helldivers 2 and laughing about how similar it is to a given scene or detail in Starship Troopers, but there's no element of meanness here: the actor seems more utterly delighted at how much inspiration Arrowhead's game has taken from the movie. "In Starship Troopers we have a planet called Klendathu and in Helldivers 2 they have this planet called Klen Dauth II," chuckles Van Dien. "Then also in Starship Troopers we talk about Zegema Beach… and they have Zegema Prime. I see all of it, I see the way the guys talk, what they say, I see the bugs, and it is such a tribute to Starship Troopers it's really quite wonderful." https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/casper-van-dien-geeks-out-over-helldivers-2s-references-and-says-it-is-such-a-tribute-to-starship-troopers-its-really-quite-wonderful/

Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are the most practical glasses to launch lately. The biggest advantage of such smart glasses is that they free you from the constraints of taking out your smartphone or a camera to record a moment. Being wearable, it records what you see, bringing a unique perspective or simplifying - truly living in the moment. Launched in September last year, Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses are made in partnership with EssilorLuxottica and come with tons of improvements from first-generation smart glasses. Meta and Ray-Ban claimed that they have redesigned the smart glasses from the ground up, and after weeks of usage, we couldn't help but notice most of these. However, the idea of smart glasses isn't entirely new. There have been numerous versions launched by different companies, including Google (Google Glass in 2014), Snapchat (Snapchat Spectacles in 2016), Bose (Bose Frames Tempo in 2021), Amazon (Echo Frames in 2020), and even Facebook before rebranding to Meta (Ray-Ban Stories in 2021). So, are the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses worth the price? I try to answer that in my review. Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses Price and Availability The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses prices start at $299 (roughly Rs. 25,000) and go up to $379 (roughly Rs. 32,000) depending on the style. People who wear prescription lenses can get one made via Ray-Ban, and that's excellent. For regular users, these are available in wayfarer and headliner styles. Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are available in limited countries, and the features are also limited depending on which market you use them in. For example, smart glasses are not available in India, and we don't see any news of this arriving here in markets anytime soon. The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are available in 15 countries, including Australia, Canada, the US, and Europe. These are available via Meta.com and Ray Ban's online and offline stores. Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses Review: The Package Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses come in sleek packaging with nothing fancy. However, what's interesting is the case. Unlike your regular sunglasses, the Meta smart glass case is a charging case, and it's portable. The slim case fits the smallest backpacks, ensures the glasses are charged, and extends battery life. The Meta smart glasses sport a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a five-mic system. The camera offers 1440x1920 resolution and packs 32GB storage. The smart glasses also pack open-ear speakers with extended bass and decent volume, even in noisy environments. The right side of the glasses houses a touchpad for tapping to play or pause songs and supports swipe gestures for volume. The left side packs the power switch, while the capture button is placed on top of the right side and offers a good tactile feel. For privacy purposes, the LED blinker dubbed Capture LED housed on the right side of the glasses blinks every time you snap a photo and remains on continuously when recording a video. This is a good feature, considering Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses aren't spy cameras and shouldn't be used like one. This was one of the concerns raised during the original model, where people claimed that glasses could allow them to film others without their consent. The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are powered by the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 Platform, the first Snapdragon XR platform designed for smart glasses. These glasses come equipped with dual ISPs for capturing photos and videos and support for binocular displays that enable hands-free notifications and directions. Thanks to Qualcomm's Snapdragon, the AR1 Gen 1 is not only smart but also capable of on-device AI, blazing-fast connectivity, and optimised thermals. https://www.gadgets360.com/wearables/reviews/ray-ban-meta-smart-glasses-review-5474225#pfrom=indepth

US secretary of state Antony Blinken has told Israel and Hamas that "the time is now" for a deal to bring about a ceasefire in Gaza and free the remaining hostages held there. Mr Blinken said a deal was on the table and Hamas should agree to it. Mediators are awaiting a response from Hamas to the latest proposal. It reportedly involves a 40-day ceasefire and the release of more than 30 Israeli hostages in exchange for many more Palestinian prisoners. "We are determined to get a ceasefire that brings the hostages home and to get it now, and the only reason that that wouldn't be achieved is because of Hamas," Mr Blinken said as he met Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Tel Aviv. "There is a proposal on the table, and as we've said, no delays, no excuses. The time is now." A senior Hamas official has denied the group is to blame for delays on reaching a new deal. Families of the hostages were demonstrating outside and Mr Blinken greeted them, saying setting their loved ones free was "at the heart of everything we're trying to do". About 130 hostages from among 253 kidnapped by Hamas during its unprecedented attack on Israel on 7 October remain unaccounted for. At least 34 of them are presumed dead. The rest have been released or rescued. The top US diplomat later visited the Israeli port of Ashdod, about 30km (20 miles) north of Gaza, where he insisted that Israel had made meaningful concessions to reach a hostage and ceasefire deal. Mr Blinken said Israel had made progress on getting more aid into Gaza but this needed to be accelerated given the immense scale of need. Ashdod was recently opened to aid shipments destined for Gaza, where the UN has warned of severe food shortages and looming famine. On Wednesday the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said 30 trucks of humanitarian supplies from Jordan had for the first time entered northern Gaza via the Erez crossing. Mr Blinken also repeated the US position that Israel should not launch a military incursion into the overcrowded southern city of Rafah without a clear plan to protect more than a million Palestinians who have been sheltering from the war there in dire humanitarian conditions. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-68939445

[Auto] 2020 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Is a Graceful Rocket
Wolf.17 posted a topic in Auto / Moto
An Aston Martin can't be vulgar. It needs to exude sophistication and tasteful restraint even when it has a 715-hp twin-turbo 5.2-liter V-12 under its hood. An Aston needs to be finely tailored in appearance and seductively composed in its manners, to attract attention without shouting. These aren't cars that tell the world their owners have arrived. They're a reward for doing the hard work of running the world. The 2020 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, whether it's the coupe driven here or the DBS Volante convertible, pulls off all of those tricks with grace and ease.Aston is a small company that isn't backstopped by some corporate behemoth. It makes do with the assets and heritage it has on hand—plus a few bits that it buys from Mercedes-AMG. The bonded-aluminum structure of the DBS is shared with the DB11, which lends the two models the same basic shape. It's the details—and the thundering punch of the DBS's tweaked V-12—that separate the two. https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a32680672/2020-aston-martin-dbs-superleggera-drive/
