  1. Lupa, based in Barcelona, is a start-up that is planning a wide range of low-cost electric vehicles whose biggest advantage lies in a range where they all have interchangeable batteries, which are sold separately to help maintain the lowest price. Its first model, the Lupa E26, will arrive in 2023 and will have a starting price of 17,000 euros, including the battery that the company values at 9,400 euros (without taxes). The Lupa E26 will use a skateboard-like platform to house a compact powertrain, combining the electric motor, transmission and electronics into a single unit, plus the battery. The brand has not confirmed whether it will develop it internally or buy it from a third party, but they have surely opted for the latter option. In terms of size, the E26 is from the same segment as the Renault Zoe, with dimensions of 4.07 meters in length, 1.78 m in width, 1.5 m in height and 2.59 m in battle (distance between axes). The Catalan manufacturer announces a power of up to 87 kW and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in just 9 seconds. Accumulating 42 kWh of capacity, the battery has a range that ranges between 320 and 400 kilometers (WLTP), depending on the type of driving. According to the information that is available, the E26 has three driving modes that impact the performance of the vehicle and its autonomy; in Sport configuration the engine produces 87 kW (117 hp), while in Normal it will be 66 kW (90 hp) and 48 kW (65 hp) in City. The E26 recharging time is around eight hours for a single-phase outlet, and five hours and 15 minutes for a three-phase 11 kW installation. With a fast charge in a 100 kW station it is capable of filling from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes. Lupa astutely plans to offer a replaceable battery for around 8,700 euros (with a life expectancy of between eight and 10 years), and the company claims that all models will be able to fit the same battery. In addition, any collaborating workshop can install and repair it Beyond its first model, Lupa also plans to launch an electric delivery van optimized for the closest deliveries, followed by two SUV models in 2024, those destined to be called 64 and 42. The latter will be priced close to 11,500 euros. , although without the battery or the taxes included; the final sale price with the battery goes up to 19,100 euros. The Lupa 64, with more autonomy and a 64 kWh battery, will do the same from 23,000 euros. E26 and later models will be sold exclusively online. “The first model, if you buy it new, will have to be with battery, unless you buy it second-hand from another customer. What we want is that the client can change cars every two or three years without having to make an investment in paying for the battery. In addition, in this way we are able to extend the life of the battery and be more ecological ”, declared the founder of Lupa, Carlos Álvarez, to electdrive.com. Álvarez hopes the idea will not only lead to more sustainable use of the battery in a second life, but also to greater loyalty.

  3. Rabat – A strong wave caused a fishing boat carrying 14 fishermen to crash near Tarfaya, southern Morocco, in the early hours of Thursday. The wave destroyed the fishing boat after leaving the port of Tarfaya, Morocco’s state media reported. Preliminary data on the tragic incident said that authorities rescued three people, who were transferred immediately to the emergency room of the Tarfaya Health Center. Authorities recovered four other individuals, while a search is ongoing to find other missing fishermen. Morocco launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the fishing boat crash. This is not the first time a tragic accident has happened on Tarfaya’s coast. In January 2019, authorities rescued 30 fishermen aboard a boat that started to sink off the city’s shores.

  4. This is the revised Cupra Leon, now wearing bronze badges and with no Seat branding, following on from the bespoke Cupra Formentor model that really hits a mark. Not sure whether this does, though. This test car is a performance plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant, with 242bhp and 295lb ft, featuring a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol mated to an electric motor. With a 12.8kWh battery, it has a pure electric range of 31 miles, and you can set the minimum level it’ll discharge to, in case you want to save some juice for a zero-emissions zone. The drive units both sit under the bonnet and it’s front-wheel drive Also front drive, incidentally, will be 242bhp and 296bhp 2.0-litre turbo pure-petrol units. And then the 2.0-litre 306bhp engine and four-wheel drive system as tested in the Formentor will also be available in the Cupra Leon, but in the estate version only rather than in this hatchback. The Cupra Leon sits 25mm lower at the front and 20mm lower at the rear than the regular Seat Leon, for a lower centre of gravity. There are struts at the front and a multi-link set-up at the rear, and big 370mm brake discs behind 19in rims and 235/35 R19 Goodyear Eagle F1s. All quite sporty. What's it like? I’m not sure yet whether it's down to this car’s powertrain, or whether the wider Cupra Leon line-up will share this car’s characteristics, but it’s curiously unsatisfying. I can’t remember the last time I drove a car and struggled to work it out as much as I have this one. Let’s start with the good bits. The Leon steers rather nicely, with smoothness and linearity, good accuracy and the kind of natural response that’s easy to warm to. There is a bit of torque steer but it’s slight and that’s not surprising, considering the instant energy of the motor, whose soundtrack – given the engine is sometimes off – is augmented with a gruff electro backbeat played over whatever the actual drivetrain is making, depending on the drive mode. Sometimes that’s not unappealing. To imagine it, think of a Fiat 500 TwinAir mixed with some digital overlay and amplified. I imagine it could get wearing. From that point onwards, it’s all more baffling still. The ride is sometimes compliant, rounding off the worst edges with only the occasional thump, but it also feels heavy and wooden, with a curious diagonal pitch on motorway curves. It’s not engaging like you might imagine a hot hatch should be, and it seems to feel every ounce and more of its 1596kg kerb weight. The claimed weight distribution is only 56% to the front, which is reasonable, given how much is up there. The interior is pretty good, though, if you don’t mind bronzing. It feels well assembled, and although as usual there’s too much for the touchscreen to do, it’s well appointed and the seats and driving position are particularly good. Should I buy one? I'm not totally convinced. I’m not entirely sure what the Cupra Leon is trying to be. If it’s a hot hatchback, then it’s not engaging or agile enough, and if it’s just a quick PHEV, then it’s closer to the mark but still dynamically unsettled to the point that it’s not relaxed enough in daily driving. Perhaps an internally combusted Leon will be better and, if so, that’s a shame: it’s time we had an affordable ‘hot’ PHEV that was fun to drive. With its own distinct model elsewhere in the shape of the Formentor, Cupra has now arrived as a brand. But I’m still not entirely sure what it is.

  5. Sana Khan, an actor and former Bigg Boss contestant, forgot to order something important on her wedding day, something she “always wanted to wear”. The Jai Ho actor, who got hitched to husband Anas Sayed on November 20, 2020, took to Instagram to share a picture of her donning a headgear made of jasmine and red roses. The newlywed looked pretty in a neon kurta and grey dupatta, along with the floral headgear. “I always wanted to wear this for my wedding but I forgot to order for this,” wrote the 33-year-old on Instagram. While she forgot, it was thanks to someone she addressed as “Nasreen didi” who finally got it on the day of her nikah. “Thanks to my Nasreen didi who got this on my day of nikkah even though I delayed wearing it for two more days coz of the packed schedule but look how fresh it was,” she further wrote. Sana Khan announced her wedding by sharing a picture from the occasion on social media. The actor looked pretty in an embroidered red and gold lehenga and a sheer dupatta. She completed the look with gold jewellery.

  6. Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Education has decided to cancel local exams for sixth and ninth graders. The decision is due to the country’s COVD-19 epidemiological situation, the ministry said. The ministry, which announced the move earlier today, noted the decision seeks to ensure the safety of students and teachers. The final exams were expected to take place in the third week of January. Minister of Education Saaid Amzazi said earlier this month that the education and health ministries had identified a total of 13,619 cases of COVID-19 among students, teachers, technical, and administrative personnel in Morocco. Amzazi said at the time that the infection rate did not exceed 0.06% among students and 3% among educational, administrative, and technical staff. But with a pronounced increase in COVID-19 figures in recent weeks, the number of schools closed since the start of the academic year reached 468, including 107 private schools that host 270,000 students. In March, Morocco suspended schools after the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country, adopting remote education methods in the 2019-2020 school season. The country also adjourned some of the final exams, which took place later than their regular schedules. Morocco encouraged remote learning for the 2020-2021 academic year but provided parents and students with in-person education options. The country is still struggling to bring the COVID-19 pandemic under control. The Ministry of Health reports thousands of COVID-19 cases and dozens of deaths daily. To date, Morocco’s health authorities have confirmed 437,332 COVID-19 cases, 7,355 deaths, and 405,251 recoveries.

  10. The Corvette C8 is among the hottest commodities of 2020. Despite the on-going pandemic, fans and enthusiasts were crazy for the mid-engine sports car, which keeps Chevrolet so busy producing and fulfilling the orders for the rest of the year. So much so, in fact, that the 2021 model year is already underway. If you're unaware of the new things to see on the 2021 Corvette, Chevy puts its visualizer out there so you can, ugh, visualize what to expect for the next model year for both the coupe and convertible versions. We've configured our own coupe with these updates, which you can see below. Notice what's new? If not, here's a rundown. For the 2021 model year, Chevy adds two new exterior body colors – the Silver Flare Metallic (seen above) and Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat. Both colors will replace similar hues from the outgoing model year. The Stinger Stripe gets three new colors as well, which will be Carbon Flash/Edge Red, Carbon Flash/Edge Yellow, and Carbon Flash/Midnight Silver. For those who like a set of full-length stripes, Blue, Orange, Red, and Yellow will be available as options. Inside, there are only a few things added, led by the new Sky Cool Gray/Yellow Strike interior color. The infotainment system also gets wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto capabilities, which will be standard across the range. The updates aren't all aesthetics for the 2021 model year. The Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension can now be ordered even outside the Z51 package. A Buckle To Drive safety feature will also be standard. This feature won't allow you to shift from Park if you haven't buckled up for more than 20 seconds. There won't be any price change for the 2021 Chevy Corvette, at least for the base model, but there are reports that options and higher trims will cost higher. More importantly, it seems like it will be a long wait even if you order for one today.

  11. Reese Witherspoon has something to say about the finance comment which was made by her (now) ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe, at the 2002 Oscars. The actor was recently reminded of the moment, which she had forgotten had ever happened, during a podcast. During the award ceremony that year, when Phillippe and Witherspoon had taken the stage to present, the actor had told her that she should speak before him, because “you make more money than I do”. In November 2006, the couple split after seven years of marriage, and finalised their divorce in 2008. They have two kids together — daughter Ava (21) and son Deacon (17). During a recent podcast with journalist Margaret Gardiner on The HFPA in Conversation, Witherspoon said: “You’re reminding me of that! I forgot that ever happened. But you’re right, he did say that, and no, it wasn’t scripted. He didn’t tell me he was going to say that before it happened on air. So I was a little bit flummoxed in the moment, too.” “There’s so few women that make a lot of money that sometimes they’re shamed for it, and sometimes they are expected to give more and do more and be more to others in the same position that may be a male movie star may not be expected,” she said, adding: “But I do think gender norms have changed quite a bit since that moment in 2000 or something.” Around the world, conversations on equal and better pay for women keep happening. And while it is encouraging to see women get paid whatever is their due, there are moments when they are belittled for it. In the podcast, the actor recalled that her daughter once came home from school “in tears” over a comment made about money. She said Ava “felt so embarrassed” when her classmates brought up the fact that her mother was one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood. “I said, ‘Don’t ever feel ashamed of a woman making money.’ There are women all over this world who don’t have an opportunity or education or the ability to make money.” “And the more women who make more money, will give more money away, will take care of their societies, will take care of their communities, will do more with that money. So don’t ever feel bad about your mom making money, and don’t ever feel bad if you make money, and don’t feel embarrassed or ashamed if it’s more than your partner,” Witherspoon, who is also mom to eight-year-old son Tennessee with husband Jim Toth, said.

  12. Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Health has confirmed 2,160 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours. The number brings the total of confirmed cases to 435,189 as of Tuesday, December 29 at 6.m. Moroccan health officials also announced 42 deaths. Death toll due to COVID-19 reached 7,314. 14. The Government’s ambitious plan to cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 68 per cent by 2030 will require 46 per cent of the UK’s 35 million cars to be zero-emission vehicles, according to the Climate Change Committee (CCC). The Prime Minister recently announced his intention that the UK should dramatically reduce its emissions (with the 68 per cent drop from 1990 levels) on its way to becoming carbon neutral by 2050, but such a shift will require huge changes for motorists. Drivers are already getting their heads around the fact that the ban on sales of new petrol and diesel cars has been accelerated from 2040 to 2030, following a consultation. But the new ban does nothing to outlaw the use or sale of conventional cars that are already on the road by that date. That could all change if the CCC’s recommendations become policy, however, something that would require replacing around 16.1 million cars, based on current ownership levels. There are currently around 200,000 EVs registered in the UK, meanwhile. The economic or environmental feasibility of any endeavour to hit the target is not addressed in the CCC’s letter, but putting 16.1 million new cars on the road by 2030 would require almost every single one of the circa two million new cars registered in the UK each year to be EVs over the next nine years. Aside from the extra expense electric cars currently have over their petrol and diesel counterparts, not to mention the availability of chargepoints for those without driveways, such a rapid acceleration of EV uptake could be problematic from a production point of view. Scientists have previously warned of supply chain issues relating to materials such as lithium and cobalt that are vital in battery production. The manufacture of new cars - for example steel smelting, paint production, factory power, and component shipping - also generates emissions, while producing a battery for one electric car requires mining, moving and processing around 225 tonnes of material according to some estimates. A recent report from Polestar shows that while EVs are more polluting to manufacture than petrol and diesel cars, they are more environmentally friendly over their lifetime because of lower emissions while they are actually being used.

  15. The temperatures might be dipping in many parts of the country, but B-Town celebs are surely making it rise with their fashion outings. From colourful co-ord sets to saris and tops, looks like floral fever has gripped Bollywood fashionistas even before its time for spring. And as always, we are in awe of their looks! In case you also happen to like floral outfits, this is where you ought to be! Take a look at the pictures below to know more. Mithila Palkar keeps it stylish in a floral print crop top which stood out for the bright colour combination. We like how the actor kept the look simple, and let the top do its magic! Sara Ali Khan has been busy promoting Coolie No. 1 and has been spotted in many different looks. And her latest outfit — a bright yellow co-ord set — has our hearts. The dainty prints, the puff sleeves and the soothing colour combination make it the perfect pick for Spring 2021. If we had to pick a sari for the upcoming spring season, it would definitely be the one Kirti Kulhari wore. Teamed with a backless bottle green blouse, the floral sari by designer JJ Valaya was styled in a simple yet elegant way. Ananya Panday’s floral number, is hands down, our favourite — right from the bright colour to the soothing floral print, we love everything about the look. And you just cannot miss out on the puffy sleeves.

  18. Welcome !
  19. In 2020, Intel caught a lot of negative attention, mostly thanks to stunning releases from its competitors. All of its 2020 releases were generally great, the problem really came down to the launches from AMD – and surprisingly, Apple – outshining Team Blue's hardware. The Comet Lake-S lineup, for instance, brought HyperThreading all the way down the product stack to the Core i3 for the first time. This meant that Intel users were able to get great multi-threaded performance no matter how much cash they were willing to throw at their PCs. It just happened to not be enough to dethrone AMD's multi-threaded lead, and by the time the AMD Ryzen 5000 series launched, Intel's 10th-generation processors just didn't have much of a draw. Intel fared a bit better when it comes to mobile processors, as the Xe graphics in the 11th-gen Tiger Lake processors are genuinely fantastic, able to drive solid 1080p gaming performance in an ultra-slim form factor. Intel's latest mobile chips are also able to provide excellent battery life, and we're definitely excited to see how this will translate when Team Blue launches 11th-gen H-series chips for workstation and gaming-class laptops in 2021. Intel's mobile progress, however, was dampened slightly in November 2020 when Apple announced the MacBook Air, Mac mini and 13-inch MacBook Pro, ditching Intel's silicon for processors designed in-house at Apple. So, 2020 was a tumultuous year for Intel, full of ups and downs. In 2021, we largely expect that to continue, as Team Blue fights to maintain its relevance across all of its product lines. There are definitely some exciting things coming from Intel in 2021, the question is whether or not Intel can become everyone's darling again. Taking a rocket ship to the Rocket Lake It's no secret that the AMD Ryzen 5000 processors that launched in October 2020 absolutely blew Intel's 10th-generation Comet Lake-S processors out of the water, beating Intel in both single and multi-core performance. However, the things we're hearing about Rocket Lake from the rumor mill are very promising. For starters, we've seen some CPU-Z benchmarks that suggest that the Intel Core i9-11900 could be up to 12% faster in single-core workloads than the Core i9-10900K. That's just in CPU-Z, and is only a single benchmark, but it would mark a meaningful performance jump gen-on-gen, even if that may not be quite enough to topple the mighty AMD Ryzen 9 5900X. A large part of this is due to the fact that Intel Rocket Lake will still be based on the 14nm manufacturing process that Intel debuted with Skylake back in 2015. This shouldn't spell doom right away, as Intel has now had more than 5 years to refine its manufacturing process, but we may be starting to get to the theoretical performance limits that Intel can reach at this size. All of the processors in Intel's 11th-gen lineup may not even be Rocket Lake-S, either, with rumors of lower-end processors using a refreshed Comet Lake architecture. As for what these processors will look like, the flagship we've seen show up in rumors is an 8-core chip, down from the 10-core Intel Core i9-10900K. This means Intel is likely trimming down on core counts in order to boost single-core performance. It's also possible that Intel wants to cut back on power consumption, too, as the Core i9-10900K was incredibly power-hungry and could get quite hot under load. Right now, word on the street is that these new desktop processors will arrive in February or March 2021, which means it's very likely that Intel will show them off at CES 2021. Though, that's what we thought about Comet Lake at CES 2020, and then Intel spent that entire show talking about traffic control or whatever. Staying mobile When Apple announced the M1 processor, behind all of its late-2020 computers, we were already taken aback that the Cupertino giant had seemingly abandoned Intel. But, when the M1 started showing a lot of promise against Intel's U-series processors, the whole world took notice. Now, Intel's 11th-generation Tiger Lake U-series processors only just launched in September 2020, so we don't think a followup is coming right away. If Intel does launch 12th-generation processors in 2021, it likely won't be until the latter half of the year. Advertisement However, we're sure we'll see 11th-generation H-series processors showing up relatively soon. After all, the best gaming laptops on the market are still being powered by Intel 10th-generation Comet Lake-H processors, which launched back in Spring 2020. It's likely that we'll get Intel Tiger Lake-H at CES 2021, if not some other time in the first few months of the year. But unlike many other past Intel mobile processor launches, Intel is going to have a ton of competition across the industry. AMD is likely going to have its Ryzen 5000 mobile processors at some point, and we've already heard word that Microsoft is looking to follow in Apple's footsteps to create its own processors – both for laptops and its data centers. For years, Intel has been able to reliably stand in a dominant place in the mobile processor market, but just like its desktop chips, there are competitors coming for its throne. If Team Blue doesn't aggressively counter AMD and the various ARM processors in the mobile space, it could lose relevance to everyday consumers. We expect 2021 to be a year in which Intel really fights to claw back its stake. Intel Xe was weird in 2020, will stay weird in 2021 At CES 2020, Intel unveiled a consumer Xe GPU for the first time. The DG1 was a discrete-class graphics processor initially released to developers in order to get games ready to actually run on Intel's architecture. At the show, Intel showed this processor running Destiny 2 at a pretty respectable framerate, all in a relatively thin laptop (though at the time that laptop was locked in a glass box at the show that no one could touch). Anyway, when Intel Tiger Lake launched in September 2020, consumers could finally use Xe graphics themselves, where previously the graphics tech was only available in Exascale computing. Because these processors are meant for thin and light laptops and Ultrabooks, we got to see the Dell XPS 13 get a massive 50% bump in graphics performance over the early 2020 Ice Lake-equipped model. That's still not quite enough graphics horsepower to run something like Cyberpunk 2077 at max settings, but it's more than enough to play a bit of Rocket League or Fortnite on your lunch break at 1080p. In 2021, we expect to see Intel Xe get pushed even further. Back in October, a SiSoftware benchmark leaked out with a dual Gen12 Xe Graphics configuration. That leak seemed to suggest integrated graphics on a Rocket Lake processor, but it did point to 192 Execution Units (EUs), up from the 96 found on the Intel DG1, which means that integrated graphics on Intel's next-generation desktop processors might be way more powerful than they've been in the past. We would honestly love to see an Intel desktop processor that could give AMD's Ryzen APUs (like the Ryzen 5 3600G) a run for their money, and if this leak is any indication, that could be exactly what next-generation Intel processors could be going for. When it comes to discrete desktop graphics cards, Intel has also announced its Xe HPG series. According to a report on Toms Hardware, these desktop GPUs could come equipped with up to 512 EUs per tile, with each GPU able to have up to four tiles. Through a configuration like this, Intel's desktop graphics cards could be capable of up to 42.3 TFLOPs, which would be enough to rival the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 from a sheer FP32 standpoint. Then again, we feel like we've been waiting for Intel graphics cards our entire lives at this point, so all of this means relatively little if it never translates into an actual product. We'll just have to wait and see. Will Intel come out ahead? While it seems like a century has passed in the time since, Intel was still on top of the world just three years ago in 2017. In a large part it was the fact that Intel just kind of got stuck on 14nm on desktop that let AMD get ahead, thanks to Team Red outsourcing its manufacturing to TSMC. And, on the mobile side, Intel is still competitive now, but with heavy competition coming from both AMD and ARM, Intel could have a hard time staying competitive. More than anything, Intel needs a strong 2021 to stay in the game, and while we don't think Intel will be at the top of the market once New Years Day 2022 rolls around, we don't think Intel is going to slip much further than it's already slipped. And, who knows – if Intel is able to push out strong dedicated graphics cards that can take on Nvidia Ampere and AMD Big Navi, it could make everyone love Intel again. Either way, 2021 is going to be another year full of fights for Intel, and it's going to be a lot of fun to watch them from the sidelines.
