Rabat - Czechian car manufacturer Skoda Auto on Wednesday announced its plans to increase cable harness production in the Moroccan cities of Kenitra and Tangier to fill the production gap caused by the war in Ukraine. “We have been working very closely with our partners over the past few weeks to minimize the impact of the war in Ukraine on the supply of cable harnesses,” the company said in a press release. Faced with supply bottlenecks, Skoda returned to Morocco, Romania, and the Czech while remaining “fully committed” to its Ukrainian partners. The company has notably increased its cable harness production in its Ukrainian plant in Zhytomyr despite the ongoing war. “The arrangements will allow for current production volumes to be doubled if necessary,” the company’s statement added. The war in Ukraine has halted the production of the all-electric model ENYAQ iV for eight weeks. To resume operations, the company decided to increase production capacity in the Kenitra plant with the support of the Kromberg & Schubert company, in addition to expanding operations in Tangier starting from September to produce cable harnesses for ENYAQ iV, OCTAVIA, and SUPERB models. Along with increasing production output in Morocco, Skoda managed, within the first five weeks of the war, to relocate part of its cable harness production from Ukraine to its headquarters in Mlada Boleslav, Czechia. Since April, Skoda’s operations have “gradually ramped up” with the support of PEKM Kabeltechnik, which “built the necessary production equipment in assembly halls.” Skoda also relocated 35 female staff from its Lviv plant in Ukraine to train its employees in the Czech Republic on cable harness production. The lingering impact of the Ukraine war extends beyond the automotive sector to burden the semiconductor production, energy supply, and food sectors. As Ukraine supplies roughly 50% of the neon gas used in manufacturing microchips, the current shortage impacts a spectrum of industrial activities from producing cars to smartwatches. While being subject to the supply chain disruptions due to the COVID-19 and war in Ukraine, Morocco’s modern automotive infrastructure has provided a cost-effective destination and trained human capital for companies planning to relocate their factories or parts of their operations. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/06/349436/skoda-partially-relocates-cable-production-to-morocco-amid-ukraine-war

A datasheet containing the full specifications of an industrial Thin Mini-ITX LGA1700 motherboard has surfaced(opens in new tab) as an interesting nugget of information about upcoming 13th gen Intel Raptor Lake-S (RPL-S) systems. The Mitac PH12ADI(opens in new tab) features an H610 or Q670 chipset, built for 12th Gen Intel Alder Lake (ADL-S) Core i9, i7, i5, and i3 processors up to 65W, and supports DDR5 RAM. Mitac highlights that if you build an Alder Lake system, you should choose DDR5-4800 RAM to po[CENSORED]te the twin 262-pin SO-DIMM slots on this motherboard. However, the Mitac datasheet implies that Raptor Lake will support DDR5-5200 modules by default. Therefore, please add some salt to this early information as this Intel partner leak or slip-up could be an error. Intel's 13th Gen Core processors supporting DDR5-5200 would be a small but welcome advance by default. It simply means that any tier of Raptor Lake system should be able to plug in DDR5-5200 modules and go without any further configuration step(s) and any explicit 'overclocking' support from the motherboard. In our Intel Alder Lake RAM guide, considering DDR4 and DDR5 and the wide range of different latency values and speeds available, we weren't impressed by the potential performance boost in choosing DDR5 over DDR4 or the performance scaling of DDR5 RAM. Given this context, moving from the default of DDR5-4800 to DDR5-5200 is a minor upgrade. However, averaging our suite of performance tests on Alder Lake comparing DDR5-4800 and DDR5-5200 with equal timings, we saw a 1% performance benefit. As well as the default support for faster memory, Raptor Lake CPUs on Intel 700-series chipsets could boost the maximum number of PCIe Gen3 and Gen4 lanes available. This is what might tempt you to upgrade to both a new processor and a new motherboard with Raptor Lake arrives. There has been some talk about made for Intel 700-series chipset motherboards being DDR5 only. Indeed, AMD has already taken this route with its initial wave of Ryzen 7000 'Raphael' processors and AM5 socket motherboards. We will have more facts about Raptor Lake processors, performance, memory support, and the new 700-series chipsets (e.g. Intel B760, H770 and Z790 motherboards) nearer launch, expected in Q4 this year. Almost a year ago, Intel inadvertently confirmed that its 600-series chipsets would be suitable for two generations of processors – Raptor Lake, followed by Raptor Lake (12th and 13th Gen Core processors). We have taken this as a given ever since, and we expect that people owning Intel 600-series chipset motherboards today will be able to upgrade to Raptor Lake CPUs with at most a BIOS update being required. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-raptor-lake-cpus-may-support-ddr5-5200-ram-natively

AMD might have a new graphics card planned as a super-cheap GPU, slotting under the current RX 6400, or that’s one theory being bandied about via the rumor mill right now. This comes from Phoronix.com(opens in new tab) which reported on findings in AMD’s Linux graphics driver (for Linux 5.19) which adds a new device ID for a ‘Beige Goby’ card. The Beige Goby family is low-end RDNA 2 (current-gen cards) built with the Navi 24 GPU, like the existing RX 6500 XT and RX 6400 graphics cards. We don’t know for sure what a potential new Navi 24 GPU might be: it could simply be a refresh of an existing model, the RX 6400 arguably, though we’re not sure how much sense it would make to jam another GPU into the line-up here – or it could be an entirely new product. So one theory as mentioned suggests that AMD could be preparing an RX 6300 model to sit underneath the RX 6400 at an even more wallet-friendly price point. Plenty of salt must be added at this point, because this is obviously just speculation – the GPU in question could be anything, or indeed nothing, as code being added to a Linux driver hardly represents confirmation that a new product is inbound from Team Red. That said, we have already heard a rumor that an RX 6300 could be happening... Analysis: Battle of the bargain basement GPUs? Let’s discuss what this might mean, bearing in mind those caveats. It perhaps makes some sense that AMD could be exploring further options in the budget GPU category if you consider that Nvidia looks to be about to make a move in this space. Recall the rumors – and again, they’re just rumors – around Nvidia producing a GTX 1630 as a fresh low-end graphics card, perhaps to finally give folks a truly budget-oriented option (speculation contends that the 1630 could turn up in just a couple of days). AMD could therefore be looking to make a countermove against this purportedly inbound GPU. Looking at the RX 6300M – because yes, a mobile version of the 6300 already exists – the specs of this laptop GPU are considerably weaker than the RX 6400, and so a desktop variant could pursue the same route; which might make it a bit weak sauce for gamers. That said, there are worries this might be the case for the GTX 1630, too… Ultimately, with no clue as to what any specs might be for the AMD card, we’d be foolish to attempt to draw any comparisons with an also-rumored Nvidia GPU. We’ll just have to see how this potential budget card battle plays out, but one thing to bear in mind is that given there’s already some disappointment around the power of the desktop RX 6400, expectations around any lower-spec RX 6300 model will naturally be tempered. Also, it’s possible that the 6300 might be OEM-only, too (at least to begin with). https://www.techradar.com/news/amd-could-be-readying-a-super-cheap-gpu-to-tackle-nvidias-rumored-gtx-1630

Rabat - Israeli troops locked Palestinians inside a mosque on the Al-Aqsa compound in Jerusalem amid contested Jewish tours in the heavily contested neighborhood. Palestine news agency WAFA reported that Israeli police escorted a group of settlers, who performed rituals across the compound in a further escalatory move. “The provocative tours are still going on until this moment,” the news agency said. The Israeli settlers’ tour came ahead of the contested flag-waving march that is scheduled to take place later today. The march is expected to draw further tension in the region, which has been witnessing several clashes due to Israeli violations and attacks against Palestinians. According to WAFA, Israeli police officers “brutally assaulted” an elderly Palestinian man earlier today during the settlers’ tour. Israeli police also arrested four Palestinians at the Chain Gate, one of the gates leading to the Al Aqsa compound. “Israeli police also imposed strict restrictions on the entry of Palestinians to the compound, only allowing people above the age of 40 access to the compound,” WAFA added. The Palestinian Foreign Affairs Ministry released a communique today, stating that “by allowing hunters of Israeli fanatics into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound this morning, the Israeli government was aligning itself with racist elements that are fanning the flames of religious tensions in Jerusalem.” The ministry condemned Sunday’s raids, saying that Palestine holds the Israeli government responsible for the provocative parade. “As an occupying power, Israel is restricted by international law to acting only as the temporary administrator of the Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem,” said the ministry’s statement. Palestinians need protection against Israeli settlers’ unrelentingly hostile agenda, the Palestinian authority said, calling for an “immediate” international, UN-led intervention to address Israeli provocation and attacks on Palestinians. e Israeli hostile agenda. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/05/349366/palestine-condemns-new-raids-flaming-religious-tensions-on-al-aqsa

In a recent live stream by PCWorld,(opens in new tab) AMD's Direct of Technical Marketing Robert Hallock discussed full details about the Ryzen 7000 (Raphael) chip that the chipmaker used in a recent Computex 2022 gaming demo. According to Hallock, the 16-core Zen 4 processor, which should be the Ryzen 9 7950X, operated at the peak boost clock speed of 5.5 GHz on several threads without any overclocking or sub-ambient coolers. The chip was running completely stock and boosting up to 5.5 GHz naturally. To quickly recap, AMD ran a gaming demo of a prototype 16-core Ryzen 7000 CPU at the end of its Computex 2022 presentation.(opens in new tab) The chip ran Ghostwire: Toyko smoothly, a recently released title, and easily boosted to 5.5 GHz. However, at the time, AMD did not disclose any details about the test system until now. But thankfully, we now know that 5.5 GHz will be a more realistic clock speed target for Ryzen 7000 processors. Furthermore, Hallock confirms that AMD didn't use any fancy shenanigans with the Zen 4 demo. Instead, the test bench consisted of a reference AMD AM5 motherboard and a consumer-based Asetek 280mm all-in-one liquid cooler. Hallock reported the Ryzen 7000 prototype dated back to April and the 16-core chip 5.5 GHz with its "out-of-the-box" configuration with no overclocking involved. The processor specifically fluctuated between 5.2 GHz to 5.5 GHz in Ghostwire: Tokyo. It is excellent news for Ryzen 7000; AMD is very confident in Zen 4's capability to operate well above 5 GHz without additional overclocking intervention. The actual boost clock speed will depend on the game and application, though. The AM5 socket is compatible with AM4 coolers. Therefore, AMD owners don't have to invest in a new cooling solution. However, with AM5, AMD has increased the socket power (PPT) to 170W, where it was previously 142W on AM4. Therefore, Zen 4 chips should max out at 125W, which would only represent a 20W increase over AMD's existing Zen 3 105W SKUs, such as the Ryzen 9 5950X or Ryzen 7 5800X. While AMD recently lifted the curtains on Zen 4, the next-generation processors won't debut until this Fall.

Stripe is the backbone for a lot of the best e-commerce platforms and online services, offering a huge array of tools for fast, easy payments. Not content to rest on its laurels, Stripe hs now announced a number of upgrades and new servces at its recent developer conference, including ability for merchants to convert fiat currency – that is, dollars and pounds – into bitcoin and back again. The ability to do so comes through a partnership with bitcoin payments startup OpenNote, with an app appearing in Stripe's new Stripe Apps section to facilitate the transactions. Convert incoming payments to #Bitcoin in real time, automatically or on demand with the new @OpenNode app featured in the upcoming @Stripe App Marketplace. Learn more here👇🏾 https://t.co/n8tS5JWvcS pic.twitter.com/xHlHHgbhXgMay 24, 2022 The Apps marketplace, detailed by Stripe in a blog post(opens in new tab), means that third-party developers can now build tools directly into Stripe, starting with over 50 companies, including Dropbox and Mailchimp. Stripe's APIs are already the backbone for so much that happens on the web, at least in terms of payments, and these updates will only increase that. To bitcoin and beyond Using the OpenNote app, merchants on Stripe can now quickly and easily convert fiat currency to bitcoin in near real-time, with the option to convert a set amount to the cryptocurrency. There is a dashboard that offers a view into their bitcoin holdings and conversion rates, alongside other information, and OpenNote will let merchants directly link their bank accounts for withdrawals. Given that crypto is crashing, the timing of this announcement is interesting and shows that Stripe's leadership believe that bitcoin at least is here to stay. Whether that prediction works out remains to be seen, but in the meantime merchants across the digital world can now add one more payment option and store their funds in bitcoin. https://www.techradar.com/news/stripe-is-getting-back-into-the-bitcoin-business

The Republic of Suriname is joining the growing cohort of countries that have acted on their steady support for Morocco’s territorial integrity, with the southern American country announcing today that it will open its consulate general in Morocco’s southern province of Dakhla on Thursday, May 26. The opening will come more than a year after the southern American country announced its willingness to open a diplomatic representation in Dakhla. While visiting Morocco in March of last year, Surinamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Albert Ramdin reiterated his country’s support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and announced the forthcoming opening of a Suranemese embassy in Rabat and a consulate in southern Morocco. Following up on his pledge more than a year later, the top Suranemese diplomat announced today his government’s decision to officialize the opening of the two representations during a high-level meeting with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita. The embassy will be opened today, while the consulate will be inaugurated tomorrow, he noted. In a joint communique, Bourita and Ramdin expressed satisfaction with their meeting and commended the quality of the bilateral relations between the two countries in a wide range of areas. In particular, Suriname emphasized its support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over Western Sahara, recalling that Rabat’s Autonomy Plan constitutes a “unique basis” for a consensual and workable political solution to the Sahara dispute. “In this spirit, the Government of the Republic of Suriname has opened a General Consulate in Dakhla,” noted the joint statement in reference to the strong and improving ties between Paramaribo and Rabat. Once a sympathizer of the Polisario Front, the separatist group pushing for independence in southern Morocco, Suriname withdrew recognition of Polisario’s self-proclaimed Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in 2016. The South American country has since taken significant steps to distance itself from the separatist front and cement its diplomatic rapprochement with Morocco. As such, the opening of Suriname's consulate in Dakhla is yet another watershed moment for Moroccan diplomacy: It is a testament to Polisario’s growing isolation on the world stage and Morocco’s growing diplomatic gains. While the separatist front’s shrinking but still vocal group of sympathizers and supporters has continued its attempts to undermine Morocco and reverse its recent gains, most developments in at least the past three to four years suggest the prevailing international consensus around Morocco’s Autonomy Plan. So far, 24 countries have opened their consulates in southern Morocco, including 12 states in Dakhla and 12 in Laayoune, and behind-the-doors talks suggest more countries are considering the move to cement their long-standing belief that Morocco’s Autonomy Plan is the best route to a lasting political solution to the Western Sahara dispute. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/05/349286/suriname-to-open-consulate-general-in-moroccos-dakhla-thursday
