The new Volkswagen Golf VIII already has photos and official data. The eighth generation of the classic hatchback for Segment C (compact) will be presented today in Europe and the images that show it full length allow us to confirm a suspicion: there are no surprises. While VW is betting on the world of electric cars with the new I.D. (read more), the brand preferred to continue going safe for the evolution of its best-selling car in Europe. The definitive design of the Golf Mk8 resembles the renders that VW had spread in recent days (and showed a muscular, sporty hatchback). Instead, they confirm the conservative trend that spy photos had been showing for months. Where one can speak of a revolution is in the range of motorizations offered, the widest and most varied in the history of Golf. Based on an update of the well-known MQB-A Platform (the same one that will be used by the Tarek Project that will be manufactured in Argentina, read more), the Golf VIII will have engines that will use gasoline, diesel, gas and electricity. There will be MildHybrid variants (with 48v batteries) and Plug-In Hybrid. 100% electric versions will be reserved for the I.D. In a first stage, the most powerful version will be the Golf GTE: a plug-in hybrid, with 241 horsepower. Of course, the traditional GTi variant will arrive later: there is talk of a basic power of 260 hp and a future R 4Motion version with more than 350 hp. Inside, the Golf VIII releases a new generation of fully digital instruments. It has more design and color than the Active Info Display already offered by several VW in Argentina. In addition, VW installed a semi-autonomous technology package. From automatic and driverless parking system to emergency driving and braking software in the event of a possible fading of the person driving. They are technologies that were already offering more expensive vehicles of the VW Group, but that will be offered for the first time with the Golf. With this eighth generation, Golf will stop being manufactured in Brazil and Mexico, the two main plants that have so far supplied the Argentine market. Production will be concentrated at the historic Wolfsburg (Germany) plant and the launch for our market is scheduled for 2020. Unlike the Brazilian and Mexican Golf, the German will pay 35% of customs duty. The CEO of VW Latin America, the Argentine executive Pablo Di Si, explained what the strategy for our region will be in this interview.

"In 50 years we will get rid of the folly of raising a chicken to eat the wing or the breast, we will make these parts grow independently in a culture medium." The prediction Winston Churchill made in 1932 was advanced a few decades, but was not misguided. Foods that mimic the characteristics of products of animal origin without ingredients from animals being produced are now a reality in the market. And its potential has only started. All eyes are focused on meat substitutes, with companies like Beyond Meat successfully trading on Wall Street. But this revolution will also affect milk, fish and eggs, products for which, with less noise, alternatives are also being developed. From a sensory point of view all can be similar, with aromas, smells and textures purportedly similar to those of imitated food. However, the degree of complexity of the technology that develops these substitutes is very variable, and it depends on the product to reach the market, have to be subject to specific regulations and be accepted by consumers. They can be similar, with similar aromas, smells and textures, but the degree of complexity of the technology that develops these substitutes is very variable On the shelves of the supermarket we have long found analogues of animal products made entirely with vegetable ingredients. This is the case of imitations of meat products such as Beyond Meat or the Spanish Heüra; of fish like Good Catch; or of eggs like Just. In the future, more technologically complex projects such as Novameat can arrive, which seeks to manufacture imitations of meat using 3D printing, but from the same approach of using only vegetable ingredients. This option has limitations because there are desirable characteristics that are due to the presence of very concentrated proteins, and that cannot be achieved in a formula that only incorporates plants. Imitation is good, but it is not perfect. Biotechnology is used to save this pitfall, which modifies microorganisms and introduces the genetic material that encodes these desired proteins into them. Fungi, bacteria or modified yeasts are ordered to make the specific protein that, subsequently mixed with fats, aromas and plant sugars, results in a better substitute. Even 100% vegan products can be obtained, without animal intervention of any kind, synthesizing in the laboratory the DNA sequence. This is the technique followed in Real Vegan Cheese or New Culture to produce cheeses, or in Perfect Day, which manufactures both casein and whey proteins from DNA made by 3D printing that is incorporated into a microorganism. That the taste of meat is due to the interaction of blood hemoglobin with heat? Well, a similar molecule is found that contains the heme group in the plant world (leghemoglobin or heme is found in the roots of legumes) and the DNA that encodes it in a yeast is introduced to manufacture it on demand. This is what Impossible Foods has done to achieve an almost indistinguishable taste of meat. This scenario is the present and immediate future: the products are in very advanced stages of development or are already on the market. And we come to a third option that seems like science fiction, but it's close: getting authentic meat, absolutely indistinguishable from meat that comes from an animal, but manufactured in a laboratory. It is cultured or artificial meat. Muscle stem cells are removed from a live animal and multiplied by providing nutrients inside a bioreactor to get layers formed by muscle fibers. This technology is not yet used to produce whole pieces, since the meat is formed by other tissues (fat, connective tissue, blood vessels), in addition to muscle fibers; but it is mixed with fat and other ingredients and meat products such as hamburgers or sausages are manufactured. Since in 2013 Mark Fost presented the first beef burger, there are projects such as Memphis Meat to make chicken products; New Age Meats, focused on pig meat or Just, who wants to synthesize Kobe meat. A step forward has been taken by Aleph Farm, which in 2018 announced that it had overcome the technological barrier, developing a system to manufacture a steak with all cell types and three-dimensional structure in the laboratory. A real steak. Opportunities and challenges Although recommendations have recently been published that suggested that adults should maintain their current consumption of red and processed meat (irresponsible statements, as explained by Juan Revenga in El Comidista), the scientific consensus is clear: a sustainable food system and a diet healthy is to consume less meat, as recently reported by the report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) of the UN or the EAT-Lancet Commission. The production of substitutes for animal products can be aligned with environmental objectives. Within the different alternatives, most of the studies focus on the impact of laboratory meat and, using predictive models, estimate that, compared to conventional meat, 99% less land is needed, in addition to reducing the water consumption, greenhouse gas production and eutrophication. And, although on the other hand it can mean a higher energy expenditure, it is considered that this technology has room to innovate and improve this aspect. Are these foods the solution to environmental or public health problems? No. They are not even necessary From the point of view of public health, artificial meat can be designed so that its composition is healthy. On the other hand, it does not imply any food safety risk, since it is manufactured in a pathogen-free controlled environment, and the possible appearance of bacterial resistance to antibiotics is also avoided. Considering animal welfare, the production of these foods reduces or eliminates ethical conflicts because, either there is no sacrifice to obtain products, or animals are not used at any point in the processing. But, given the advantages, there are also some challenges that fundamentally affect laboratory meat. Within European regulations, cultured meat falls into the category of new food. However, the denomination is the real battlefield (as it is also for imitations that only use vegetable ingredients, in which it is proposed to expressly veto the use of terms used in animal products). The name absolutely determines the acceptance of a market that can reject it because it is considered “artificial” (research shows that names such as “meat without animals” or “clean meat” are better considered than “laboratory meat”). Their ability to reach the market will depend on their viability to be manufactured on a large scale in a profitable way and, while this happens, the authorities study how to regulate the commercialization of a completely new food, which clashes with the interests of traditional livestock and reluctance of consumers. Are these foods the solution to environmental or public health problems? No. They are not even necessary because we already have access to sustainable dietary sources of plant origin, which cover all our energy and nutrient requirements. But they can be part of the solution, satisfying the demands of people who want to continue consuming foods of animal origin (or that seem so), but who are concerned about sustainability and animal welfare. It is a matter of time for the authorities to capture the leader of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, Antonio Yépez Ortiz “El Marro”, as stated by the Commissioner of Citizen Security of Guanajuato, Sophia Huett López. The local official considered that the detention of "El Marro", who has become one of the priority objectives for the federal government, could happen soon as the huachicolero leader lives to "kills jump", fleeing from one place to another and he even has to sleep outdoors. “The conditions in which the leader of this organization could be found are not the most comfortable as we could have thought he lived in these photographs, the most complex situation is found and this therefore implies effectively from sleeping in the open air, until we had to spend a night in a different place ”commented Huett. He insisted that the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel is very weakened, so it seeks to stop the heads and not only focus on the leader. “I would insist on not obsessing with the head, finally when someone becomes obsessed with only stopping the visible leader. We must remember that there are media leaders known but there are also others within organizations that have important leadership, ”he recalled. "The objective is to stop all those who have a level of participation in criminal activities, it must be remembered that in the past weeks the names of other people with important hierarchy in the organization were made known," said Huett López. On whether there are conditions to stop "El Marro" without a situation similar to last week in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Sophia Huett, considered: “A situation like Culiacán would hardly happen in Guanajuato, when you design an operation, what you have to privilege is to safeguard the integrity of the citizenship and, from that, you design the detention operation. In Guanajuato, the Governor's instruction is to protect citizens in high-impact operations and the clearest example was the incursion of Santa Rosa in March, ”he said. Huett López insisted that there is a control of the security and presence of the entire state apparatus in the area of Santa Rosa de Lima. Regarding the dissemination of the audios attributed to a telephone call between Antonio Yépez Ortiz and his mother, as well as the dissemination of the images of the house that has seven pools, the Guanajuato official said they are part of the investigations.

Honda today presented the fourth generation of the Fit at the Tokyo Motor Show. Its classic minivan for Segment B (boy) will offer for the first time a wide variety of gasoline and hybrid engines. The model will be sold in Brazil, as usual, but its arrival in Argentina is unknown. The new Fit (sold as Jazz in some markets) retains its traditional philosophy of offering a practical urban vehicle with a large interior space. The design was completely renewed and, for the first time, the crossover version will be global. The new Fit / Jazz Crosstar is the successor of the current WR-V manufactured in Brazil. Honda confirmed a new generation of engines with alternative energies, although at the moment it did not provide technical characteristics. It is only known that hybrid versions will use e: HEV technology. It is an internal combustion engine combined with two electric (one generates electricity for the batteries and the other is only used to drive the vehicle). Another novelty is the incorporation of numerous driving aids: autonomous emergency braking, lane maintenance system and adaptive cruise control. At the Tokyo Motor Show, Honda has already leaked the news that the Fit will be available from next year in Brazil, its most important market in Mercosur. In Argentina, his arrival is a mystery. Honda Motor of Argentina is in full withdrawal from the car market in our country. The Japanese brand announced that next year it will stop producing HR-V at its Campana plant and will not have a direct replacement. That establishment will focus only on motorcycle production. In addition, Honda has already initiated a plan for the closing of car dealerships across the country, to adapt to the near future with a smaller offer of cars. And all imported. More information here.

We have learned to love the pineapples thanks to high comedy. We adored Hillary in The Prince of Bel Air, Karen in Will & Grace, Emma's Jane Austen and even one as bad as the Countess of Merteuil in Dangerous Friendships had great looks. In the Spanish social chronicle of the twentieth century, that great unfinished novel that is forged based on covers of ¡Hola !, Tamara Falcó (Madrid, 1981), daughter of Isabel Preysler and the Marquis de Griñón, is our pija. The one that goes from the empty phrase to the sharp and deep reflection in two paragraphs of coated paper. We have seen her grow up, collect boyfriends, try her luck in different professional aspects, pose with George Clooney and Prince Charles of England, embrace Catholicism and - the unthinkable - fry eggs on television. He has even met Michael Jackson. And Spain has discovered it little by little: under its layers of rich, pija and privileged girl appears a woman with the exceptional quality of coherence, with a kindness that disarms and an innocence that causes the most sought-after hilarity: the one that is not sought , which calls without warning. With Tamara becoming one of the most commented characters of today thanks to her participation in Masterchef, where she endures and has already eliminated another great queen of hearts (Ana Obregón) along the way, we review some of the phrases that have made her a character so special and that, with that mixture of naive and Dadaism, they look like a handwritten script between Rafael Azcona and Tina Fey. 1. “I would not go to dinner with Pablo Iglesias, but he prayed for him and for all of Podemos” (Marie Claire). 2. “Being the daughter of separated parents I became a spoiled one” (My house is yours, Telecinco). 3. "There are photographers out there." (Why ?, inquires the journalist). "Because I'm Tamara Falcó!" (Vanity Fair). 4. "I put Jacinta, like Fatima's shepherd, because I picked her up on the day of the Virgin" (on the name of her dog, in THE COUNTRY). 5. "We all resent not being able to reach the central almond by car, but emphysema is more annoying." (About Madrid Central, the star plan of the legislature as mayor of Manuela Carmena, in El Mundo). 6. (Question) “Do you know how to cook?” (Answer) “Ssssssssssss… no” (Ana Rosa's program, Telecinco). 7. "Sometimes I am surprised at how sleepy I am" (The World). 8. "I have that conflict between vanity and truth" (THE COUNTRY) 9. "One day Mario [Vargas Llosa, current partner of his mother, Isabel Preysler] asked us: 'And do not you think that Miguel [Boyer, his expander] would be happy from the sky thinking that I am here?' And I thinking that Miguel, with how jealous he was, would be right now with a bazooka shooting "(My house is yours, Telecinco). 10. "I believe a lot in meritocracy, whether it is in the Barrio de Salamanca or in Carabanchel" (El Mundo). 11. “They changed my school and I felt very sad, misplaced, I had trouble making friends. And I was wondering: ‘Where are the Playmobil de Julio and Enrique [Iglesias, his brothers]?’. It is true that the house was much better, it had two swimming pools, a paddle tennis court, but I was not happy at all ”(after moving to his new house at Puerta de Hierro, in Vanity Fair). 12. "My ex-boyfriend just got married and the only thing I miss is my ex-father" (referring to Franco-Argentine financier Marco Noyer, in My house is yours, Telecinco). 13. “With Tommaso I get along very well. I call him and he tells me: 'Let's see, what is your trauma of the day? What has been strained between your teeth? ”(About her boyfriend at the time, Tomasso Musini, with whom he had a relationship from 2010 to 2012, in Vanity Fair). 14. "I told my mother that I was going to take a sabbatical year and she said: 'Well, well, and who is going to pay you?'. How unpleasant!" (My house is yours, Telecinco). 15. "The Virgin Mary is my ideal as a good woman who puts the needs of God and her son above her own" (THE COUNTRY). 16. “There are 14 bathrooms and sometimes they are not enough” (on his mother's house in Puerta de Hierro in Mi casa es tu yours, Telecinco). 17. “One day I read that Sarkozy did not read anything that is published about him and decided to do the same” (Vanity Fair). 18. "I do not care much to fall well or badly. I know that I have a group of people who love me, I know that God loves me, and the rest, what will I do to him" (THE COUNTRY). 19. "Now that we are older, can you tell me who chose those tacky toys?" (Asked by the marketing director of Porcelanosa in relation to the Christmas photos that were made as a child to advertise the brand with his mother, in Vanity Fair) 20. (Question) "The last time you got mad at your mother?" (Answer) "One day I didn't want to borrow a dress." (Question) "And when did you last cry?" (Answer) "That day." (Ana Rosa's program, Telecinco). 21. "I love independence, not knowing what I'm going to have dinner, being able to improvise ... but with my parents in ten minutes" (Vanity Fair). 22. "As a child I wanted to be a trapeze artist. My mother, who was a friend of the owner of the World Circus, managed to get me a beautiful embroidered jersey" (Vanity Fair). 24. "I thought it would be much easier and it is very hard, and then you have to clean everything" (On cooking, in THE COUNTRY). 25. "I carry holy water in my bag and use it" (The World).

Four American Airlines flight attendants were arrested at the Miami airport after arriving from Santiago de Chile on Tuesday. Authorities reported that those arrested would be part of a complex money laundering operation. The captured persons were identified as María Beatriz Pasten Cuzmar, 55; María Isabel Wilson Ossandon, 48; Carlos Alberto Muñoz Moyano, 40; and Miaria Delpilar Roman Strick, 55; after Customs and Border Protection agents confiscated more than $ 22,000. According to the arrest report, according to Univision and CNN, customs agents carried out a routine check with flight attendants, when they asked Muñoz Moyano how much money he had, to which the man replied that USD 100 , but then set the sum at USD 9,000. This aroused the suspicions of the agents, who immediately requisitioned the other auxiliaries, finding USD 7,300 to Miaria Delpilar Roman Strick. In turn, they found USD 6,371 to María Isabel Wilson. Although María Beatriz Pasten Cuzmar appears in the arrest report, it is not reported as if she had been found a high sum of money in her possession. According to Univision, individuals face charges for unauthorized sending of money in the amount of between USD 300 to USD 20,000, money laundering and evading reports in amounts of USD 300 to USD 20,000. After the arrest, the four detainees were taken to the Miami-Dade jail. "We take this matter seriously and are cooperating with the police throughout their investigation," American Airlines said in a statement.

One of the components that we must choose correctly if we are going to use our computer to play with RAM memories. Although we always talk about the CPU and the graphics card, if we invest most of the money in these two components and leave aside the memory, buying a low quality one, most likely, despite having invested a good money in the other components, these do not perform as they should in the most demanding tasks, for example, in games. If we have a high-end computer and want to maximize the power of all components, what we need to look for when choosing good RAM is that they have a fairly high frequency. XMP: an essential ally when buying high-end RAM Surely we have bought some memories, for example, at 3200 MHz (a good frequency for a gaming computer) and, when connected to the computer, we have realized that they work at a lower speed (2333 for example). Or it may be directly that we have connected them and, without realizing it, we are wasting potential of these memories. This is due to the fact that, as a base, the memories are configured in a JEDEC profile, a base frequency that guarantees compatibility with all hardware, both the most powerful and the lowest range. Therefore, one of the first configurations that we must do when connecting high-end RAM memories, such as HyperX Fury RGB, is to activate the XMP profile. XMP is a configuration created by Intel (although it is compatible with AMD as long as the memories are certified) that is recorded in the configuration of the own memories that, from the BIOS / UEFI of our computers, allows us to easily overclock, and in a way Sure, to these memories. Depending on the type of memory we can have several XMP profiles that offer different frequencies and latencies. The BIOS will detect the profiles that are compatible with our processor and allow us to activate those that guarantee the correct operation with the rest of the components. In this way, if we buy a 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM and its JEDEC profile is 2400 MHz, activating the XMP profile in the BIOS is when it will start operating at 3200 MHz. And so we can squeeze out all its performance. How to activate the XMP profiles of HyperX Fury RGB RAMs To activate this profile in RAM, the first thing we must do is place the modules on our motherboard. To avoid problems, it is recommended that all modules be the same since, if not, the XMP will configure a lower maximum frequency to ensure compatibility, and we will be losing performance. Once we have the RAM connected to the computer, the next step will be to turn it on and, during POST, access the BIOS. Depending on the BIOS version and the manufacturer, the process may vary. Although the most common is that on the main screen of the UEFI we see a section dedicated exclusively to the XMP. For example, in the UEFI of an AORUS X570 motherboard, the section to activate the memory XMP is as follows:

The Hyundai Ioniq belongs to a new litter of green cars of the Korean brand and is offered globally in hybrid, plug-in and 100% electric versions. The country will arrive the first by combining a 1.6L Atkinson cycle with direct injection of gasoline that generates 105 hp and 147 Nm, with a permanent synchronous electric motor of 43.5 hp and 170 Nm. The combined power is 141 hp and 265 Nm for figures such as 0 to 100 of 10.8s, 185 km / h maximum and a declared consumption in the mixed cycle of 3.6 L / 100 km. The tank is 45 liters and the batteries are lithium-ion technology that allows them to be more compact and lighter delivering 1.56 kWh. According to the brand, it can go up to 120 km / h only with electricity (although they did not clarify how many kilometers it can travel only “on batteries”). The brand has long been unaware that the Hyundai Ioniq is not only efficient, but also fun and that is why it highlights two of its differentiating qualities, multi-link rear suspension and double clutch housing with 6 changes and steering wheel cams. In addition, the Ioniq uses high strength steels (53%) to ensure safety and low weight, complemented by large aluminum parts such as bonnet and tailgate. Speaking of the rear, the hybrid model has a special silhouette (which requires dividing the window between the roof and part of the gate) that allows a cx of 0.24. It also has elements such as the active grill that closes or opens to achieve the balance between cooling and better air penetration. It should be noted the cabin of the Hyundai Ioniq, not only is it spacious, it also has a simple, elegant design with a good repertoire of plastics, textures and joints. Among the most prominent comfort equipment, it should be mentioned that both front seats have heating and ventilation, the driver's seat offers electric regulation, access and ignition is “keyless”, there is a wireless cell phone charger and two USB ports, cruise control , dual climate control with function that only serves the driver if it is only to save energy, and ambient lighting in blue The multimedia device has an 8 ”touch screen that works with Android Auto and Apple Carplay and the instrument cluster is made up of a 7” color display that changes graphics and color when it enters Sport mode. 5 star security The Ioniq received the 5 Euro NCAP stars and in addition to the structure I named above it offers four-wheel disc brakes, ESP, DLR lights and full LED front lights with automatic ignition, blind spot detection (BSD), alert rear traffic collision (RCCW), rear parking sensors and recoil chamber with dynamic guide lines and sound signal, 7 airbags and Isofix anchors. Hyundai already has a couple of units in the country and allowed us to take a short walk through our streets. The first thing I can tell you is that it is very quiet and the gasoline engine is very well "hidden", both in loudness and in vibrations, so that you do not realize when it started. The dynamics feel correct, somewhat rough in studs and other speed moderators since the brand decided to bring the largest possible 17 ”tires that limit the rubber profile. At low speed steering and brake they felt correct and urban speed too. When I decided to bury the right pedal on the carpet the box was quick, although the Ioniq did not feel explosive. We will see what happens in a complete test because its 265 Nm of torque seems more than succulent. Price and Warranty At Hyundai, they want to wait to see how much the internal tax is set to publish the price of the Ioniq since, despite the tax advantages of being a hybrid, it could remain in luxury. Awaiting its final price (it should be similar to that of the Prius) the brand anticipates that the warranty is 3 years or 100,000 kilometers, whichever comes first, while for batteries it is 10 years with no mileage limit. Taking into account that in CABA and other cities, hybrids do not pay a patent, and added to the differential in fuel consumption, the brand announces that in 3 years you could save up to USD 8,500 compared to a conventional car ... we will see

China's main oil contractor in Venezuela terminated agreements with local suppliers on oil projects due to the lack of payment from the state oil company. But leaving has been a challenge for both parties. China Huanqiu Contracting and Engineering, known as HQC, a subsidiary of China's largest energy company, China National Petroleum (CNPC), informed local suppliers that their contracts would be terminated, citing "the extremely difficult situation of this project", according to a document seen by Bloomberg. Local oil service companies were invited to negotiate terms of departure and payments due with HQC officials. The measure follows HQC's decision in early September to stop work at the largest China-Venezuela joint venture, due to lack of payment by PDVSA. The further decline of the Chinese firm threatens to slow down production further, which has plummeted amid a lack of investment, aggravated by US sanctions that have reduced revenues from oil sales and equipment imports and necessary chemicals. China's companies with PDVSA accounted for about 13% of the country's total production in August, before the new US sanctions, according to PDVSA internal data obtained by Bloomberg. A CNPC spokesman declined to comment. Multiple calls and emails to HQC and its parent had no response. The negotiations have not yielded results. HQC asked Venezuelan service providers to open accounts in China to receive payments in yuan, amid concerns that if they paid contractors locally, HQC accounts in the US financial system could be frozen for violating sanctions against PDVSA, according to people with knowledge of the situation. Venezuelan companies see the proposal as impractical and expensive, since their financial resources are in the Western Hemisphere. Beijing bank rules for opening accounts are cumbersome, and other options, such as banks in Hong Kong, were discarded by the CNPC affiliate, sources said. Several companies are pressuring the Chinese embassy in Caracas, in an effort to find a mediated solution, according to those consulted. They are owed more than US $ 30 million, said a person with knowledge of the situation. HQC reported last month that it would stop the expansion work at the 130,000 barrel per day co-managed jointly, alleging non-payment by PDVSA. Only two months earlier, Nicolás Maduro's regime went to state television with CNPC officials to launch the expansion. (With information from Bloomberg / Fabiola Zerpa)

Last February, the Ministry of Health launched the CoNprueba campaign with the aim of informing citizens about pseudo-therapies and pseudosciences. 73 of the 193 techniques analyzed have been categorized within the category of pseudotherapies, since they do not have any scientific support. The remaining 66 are still under evaluation. Among them we can find yoga. But, why this ancestral discipline has sneaked into this list? Given this question, the Department of Health gives a brief answer: "It is being evaluated to see if it has support in scientific knowledge or evidence to support its effectiveness and safety." The truth is that this practice has some support in the scientific literature. The prestigious Harvard University aims to "promote physical health in different ways. Some even lead to better stress management." Among its benefits already corroborated are the improvement of back pain or the reduction of discomfort related to arthritis. There are also many others that are still being studied, such as helping migraines, osteoporosis, balance or mobility (these investigations are in preliminary stages). However, the website of the Ministry of Health indicates about the techniques under evaluation that although there may be publications related to these practices does not imply that they are supported by scientific knowledge or that their efficacy and safety are guaranteed. A fishing ground of pseudoscientific therapies "Yoga - like music or secondary treatments with animals - provides well-being. It is a complementary therapy and has evidence that supports its results as a form of muscle relaxation with asanas and to reduce stress with meditation," acknowledges Gerónimo Fernández Torrente , coordinator of the Observatory of Pseudosciences of the Medical Association of Spain, where they have also developed a list of pseudoscientific therapies on which the Ministry's campaign has been based. "Whenever it is good to use we have no problem," says the expert. The problem seems to be behind some of the places where yoga classes are taught. The alert arises from the frequency with which yoga centers or instructors offer or advertise pseudotherapies, explains Elena Campos, president of the Association to Defend the Sick from Pseudoscientific Therapies. "As long as they remain in the field of relaxation, well-being or exercise, there is no problem, but sometimes they become access routes to different pseudotherapies and they try to attribute abilities that they do not have or have not been shown," He says. A hiding place for charlatans The most common of these pseudoscientific therapies that are taught in yoga centers are - as the expert explains - "Ayurveda [name by which it is called the traditional 'Indian medicine'] that is offered as therapy through the consumption of certain types of food, macrobiotics, which is also a type of diet, or osteopathy [technique of mani[CENSORED]tion of muscle and bone tissue], which can end up causing problems, if the person doing it has no health training. " Beyond those mentioned by the expert, a simple Google search with the words "yoga, therapies and Madrid" gives us various results of centers in the capital where other pseudotherapies included in the Ministry's blacklist are put into practice. Among them are the metamorphic technique, which is a type of massage that ensures the resolution of different health problems, or the aura soma, a technique that ensures the cure of diseases through light and colors. On the other hand, the exoticism of yoga and the fact that it is in fashion make it be used several times by charlatans and tricksters, as they have been able to observe from the Collegiate Medical Organization of Spain. So, although they do not include this discipline as a pseudoscientific therapy, they do launch an alert: behind some centers you can find sectarian movements that use yoga as a form of uptake or even a psychological mani[CENSORED]tion tool. A clear example is that of Baba Ramdev, a Hindu of humble origin who has become a multimillionaire ensuring that yoga cured a severe paralysis suffered as a child. ADVERTISING inRead invented by Teads Meditation, a magnet for sects And yoga is not the only practice where tricksters hide. Meditation, which is also on the list of therapies under evaluation despite having scientific studies that support it - as one from the University of Melbourne that points out that this practice can be useful to help with psychological problems such as anxiety, depression and stress— it is another discipline behind which quacks and scammers hide. There are classes of mindfulness that can hide scams in the form of courses, retreats and "healing therapies" for exorbitant prices that exceed several hundred euros. In short, if in the center we are going to try to make us believe that this discipline has magical qualities, our alerts should jump. Replacing major disease treatments with yoga sessions or curing cancer through meditation are not on the list of properties of yoga that have been proven by science.
