  2. Ahead of Overwatch 2's new season, developer Blizzard has announced the removal of one of the game's PvE modes. If you're a fan of Hero Mastery Gauntlet, tough luck, as it'll no longer be available to play starting Season 11. "Hero Mastery Gauntlet was intended to bring the high score-chasing excitement of Hero Mastery missions into a multiplayer format," reads an update in the Blizzard forums. "Unfortunately, it hasn’t resonated with players in the ways that we hoped." If you're wondering about the Lifetime Challenges for the mode, these will remain active until the end of Season 10. This includes competing on the mode's top 500 leaderboards. Blizzard added that Individual Hero Mastery Solo Courses will continue to be available, and there'll be more courses added in upcoming seasons. Hero Mastery Gauntlet has groups of three players banding together in tower defense-style matches, fighting against waves of bots. It spans across 10 rounds, and there are four difficulty options to choose from. According to discussions by the community, the reception from many players wasn't especially positive, with some hoping Blizzard would, at some point, iterate on the idea enough to entice players to return to it. Blizzard announced it was scrapping the long-awaited Hero mode back in 2023. In March of this year, reports indicated that the developer is doubling down on PvP content. Overwatch 2 Season 11 is set to begin in June, although Blizzard is yet to disclose an official start date.
  3. Fashion can be so capricious. Not even two years ago, MPVs looked a dead cert to join two-door estates and mid-market coupés on the format scrapheap, yet now the class is bursting with activity. Apparently we have Chinese businessmen to thank(or otherwise). Don’t get rid of your skinny jeans just yet, then, I suppose. Following the airport-bound Mercedes-Benz EQV, nostalgia-fuelled Volkswagen ID Buzz and limousine-challenging Lexus LM into the UK is the Maxus Mifa 9. Maxus is a brand that may be familiar from its eDeliver range of electric vans and tippers and the T90EV, the first electric pick-up truck offered in the UK, albeit a very poor one. It has a complex heritage, as evidenced by the fact that the Mifa is sold in Asia as an MG and in Australia as an LDV. Yes, as in Birmingham’s deceased maker of spit-and-sawdust vans, itself formed when the respective truck divisions of British Leyland and Dutch firm Daf merged in the 1980s. Its assets were bought by Chinese giant SAIC after its 2009 bankruptcy, joined two years later by MG. South-east Asia also gets an MG version of the T90EV, by the way, called the Extender. Righty-ho… Anyway, it’s now a significant player in the UK, albeit through a concessionaire, Harris Group of Ireland, with a technical centre in Liverpool and more than 60 dealers. Sales rose by 46% last year and are expected to do so again by 60% this year, as evidenced by a sales total of more than 1250 vehicles already. Harris told me it will sell the Mifa to families, chauffeurs, hotels and taxis, although I’m doubtful about that first claim, given that it’s playing in the £70k arena. The Mifa is a large, seven-seat MPV, at 5270mm long by 2000mm wide and 1840mm tall directly comparable to the EQV. It isn’t a bespoke EV, sharing its platform with the petrol-engined G90, but nevertheless the battery is in the ideal position under the floor, not crammed under the bonnet or in the boot, meaning it feels no more compromised than its big-name rivals. On the subject of names: Mifa is ‘Maximum, Intelligent, Friendly and Artistic’. Not sure that’s one for the Hinge profile… That battery officially yields a range of around 270 miles, depending on spec. Astoundingly, that’s all of 60 miles more than the EQV, despite both having a 90kWh capacity. The ID Buzz isn’t far behind, even with only a 77kWh battery, but it lacks a third row of seats. Range doesn’t concern the LM, it being a hybrid, but then that might fall foul of various urban emissions restrictions now and in the future. The driver of the Mifa 9 is well cared for, at least in range-topping Premium trim, with many-way electric adjustment, heating and massage functions. Behind, the two captain’s chairs – of leather and PVC, and with ‘Mifa 9’ headrest embroidery – are even more comfortable and yet more adjustable, by way of a small touchscreen mounted atop the outer armrest. They can move back and forth, side to side, totally recline and offer not just massage functions but also control of ‘interior scenarios’ – for instance, ‘rest moment’ shuts the blinds over the two fully opening sunroofs – and the rear air conditioning and colour-customisable interior LED lighting. It would take some time for you to get to learn what each ‘scenario’ entails, but it’s a nice idea. Walk between the pair and you come to a three-man third row, also comfy leather seats, which impressively have enough head room for adults up to about 5ft 9in tall. There’s a 466-litre boot behind them, which would probably be problematic on airport runs, but they can be folded down in a 60/40 split to create an enormous, van-like cargo space. Someone unkindly described the Mifa as “an LM from wish.com” when it arrived, and that’s probably too harsh. Lexus has played its best hands in terms of interior design and material choice and quality, but Maxus hasn’t resorted to cheap and nasty. The stitched leathery areas feel fine, none of the plastics are hard and scratchy, even on the dashboard, and the large carbonfibre-look trim pieces on the door have a nice gloss feel to them. It’s just the small things that let it down: how the seats creak loudly as they work out that knot in your back, how the armrests judder as they fold up, how you have to yank the desk up and out and how its ‘wood finish’ is clearly a sticker atop black plastic. Attention to detail is what distinguishes premium cars, and it’s lacking here. I had expected to be overwhelmed by the technological complexity so coveted by Chinese consumers when using the Mifa’s touchscreen infotainment system (for which reason I was glad to see touch icons on the dashboard for the air-con), but it’s actually impressively user-friendly. Clearly sharing its underpinnings with the system seen in the new MG 3, it has a mostly sensible menu structure (although why isn’t the regen slider with the other driving options?) and no translation issues. It’s cool that you can slide the passengers’ windows up and down on request from here, for instance, and that it has Apple CarPlay – although it’s wired only and on one day refused to work. Source
  4. Tyson Fury will be "broken-hearted" after defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in their undisputed world title fight, but a "better version" of the British star can win the rematch, says Sky Sports expert George Groves... It's very difficult to put into context exactly what Usyk has achieved because it is something incredible. It's the first heavyweight champion to hold all four heavyweight belts in this era, the last person to do it was Lennox Lewis, that was 25 years ago and that was just three belts. Throughout the decades, you're going to have the No 1 in the division but for someone to go in there and essentially just clean up like he has done, has been incredible. He took on Fury, the giant, someone who's been maybe the best heavyweight of his era so far, 6ft 9in-plus plus, and beat him the way he did. I gave the result to Usyk. I had it a little wider than some of the judge's cards. In the first three or four rounds some had it to Fury, some had it to Usyk - depends what you're into or what you're after. From the end of that fourth round, definitely, in the fifth round, Fury then started to take over, he started to implement his style really well. He looked like he was firing on all cylinders. Fury had the timing of Usyk. The body shots were working really well. He had a variety of show-low-and-shoot-high-up-through-the-guard shots and he landed a few uppercuts and you're thinking at that point, wow, Fury's into his own, he's going to win this fight. But that didn't happen. Showboating is part and parcel of Fury, but Usyk is vastly experienced, he doesn't really engage in any of that. He doesn't try and get a reaction, because that's what Fury wants you to do. He puts his hands behind his back. He wants you to jump in so that you make a mistake. He forces that mistake from you and he makes you pay. So I think it's unfair for people to say Fury's showboating cost him the fight. I don't think so. Usyk was just a really good fighter. They both were on their A-game really so they both brought their best. There's a nose injury that comes for Fury, which looked like it could have been bothering him. If your nose is broken or busted it starts filling up with blood, which makes it a little bit harder to breathe. Usyk was applying that pressure from the get-go. He was trying to make Fury fight at an uncomfortable pace. So once he started landing, he started putting a little bit more on his shots, land them a little bit heavier in that second half of the fight, you know from rounds, eight, nine onwards, and then it's heavyweight boxing. It doesn't matter if the guy's five inches shorter and two-plus stone lighter, you're still going to have a significant force that is going to hurt it. It's going to buzz you to your feet and that's what Usyk did. Source
  5. Passengers have recounted scenes of "absolute terror" when severe turbulence hit their Singapore Airlines flight, launching people and objects across the cabin. A 73-year-old British man died from a suspected heart attack, while more than 30 people were injured when the London-Singapore flight suffered a sudden drop as a meal service was under way. Briton Andrew Davis described “awful screaming and what sounded like a thud" in the first few seconds of the incident. "The thing I remember the most is seeing objects and things flying through the air. "I was covered in coffee. It was incredibly severe turbulence," he told the BBC. Another passenger said the aircraft suddenly started "tilting up” and “shaking". "I started bracing for what was happening, and very suddenly there was a very dramatic drop, so everyone seated and not wearing a seatbelt was launched immediately into the ceiling," 28-year-old student Dzafran Azmir told Reuters. "Some people hit their heads on the baggage cabins overhead and dented it, they hit the places where lights and masks are and broke straight through it," he added. The Singapore-bound Boeing 777-300ER diverted to Bangkok following the mid-air incident, making an emergency landing at 15:45 local time (08:45 GMT) with some 211 passengers and 18 crew aboard. Singapore Airlines said 31 people on board were taken to hospital and the airline offered its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased, who has not yet been named. An airline official said that about 10 hours into its flight, the plane had encountered "sudden extreme turbulence" over Myanmar's Irrawaddy Basin at 37,000 feet. The company said it was working with Thai authorities to provide medical assistance to passengers, and was sending a team to Bangkok to provide any additional help needed. 'People who had been standing did somersaults' : Singapore Airlines also provided details on the nationalities of those on the flight, which included 47 from the UK. Allison Barker said she received a message from her son, Josh, who was on the plane en route to Bali: "I don't want to scare you, but I'm on a crazy flight. The plane is making an emergency landing... I love you all." After that message, she waited for a "petrifying" two hours before hearing from him again. "One minute, he was just sitting down wearing a seatbelt, the next minute, he must have blacked out because he found himself on the floor with other people," she told the BBC. Josh, she said, sustained minor injuries - but she is concerned that coming close to death could have a lasting impact on him. Another Briton, Jerry, 68, was travelling to Australia for his son's wedding. He said there was no warning before the "plane plunged". "I hit my head on the ceiling, my wife did - some poor people who were walking around ended up doing somersaults," he recalled. A British man with a neck injury said he and his family were “lucky enough” none of them had died. “It went from no turbulence... no plane shaking at all and then I was hitting the roof. All of a sudden, I was up like that. “My son was thrown down on the floor two rows behind me. I heard that there was a guy hitting the roof in the toilet and he was injured quite badly, too,” he said, speaking from a Thai hospital. Singapore's Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat said the government would provide assistance to the passengers and their families. "I am deeply saddened to learn about the incident on board Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 from London Heathrow to Singapore," he posted in a statement on Facebook. Turbulence is most commonly caused by aircraft flying through cloud, but there is also "clear air" turbulence which is not visible on a jet's weather radar. “Injuries from severe turbulence are relatively rare in the context of millions of flights operated," aviation expert John Strickland told the BBC. "However, severe turbulence can be dramatic and lead to severe injuries or sadly in this case a fatality." Flight crews are also trained in how to respond to turbulence, he said. "It is not for nothing that airlines recommend keeping seat belts loosely fastened throughout a flight, be it long or short," he added. Research has shown that climate change will make severe turbulence more likely in the future. Source
  6. A research team led by Prof. Cao Xun from the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, together with collaborators from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, has developed a new type of electrochromic (EC) structure for energy-saving windows. The study is published in Nature Sustainability. Electrochromic smart windows, which can dynamically regulate solar radiation under external voltage stimuli, have been considered as a promising technology to reduce the energy consumption of buildings. To promote the application of EC windows, Cao's group has made great efforts to improve EC performance, such as response speed, contrast ratio. However, little progress has been made in reducing the influence of solar radiation and outdoor temperature. In this study, the researchers designed a new electrochromic smart window system based on a VO2-WO3 tandem film via a solid electrolyte with the tri-stable control of solar heat and sunlight transmittance simultaneously, with great energy-saving effect. This structure allows Li+ to diffuse along the depth of VO2 and WO3, which could independently regulate the near-infrared (NIR) and visible transmittance of sunlight. The main advantage of VO2 is that the barrier for maintaining the state is decoupled from the barrier for changing the state, thus maintaining non-volatility compared to WO3. With the above design feature, the EC-based windows can minimize the total energy cost of indoor lighting and heat exchange, which is the ideal drive for smart window design. Simulations show that this new ECD exhibits higher heating and cooling energy savings than a commercial low-E glass in most climates around the world. In addition, outdoor experiments were conducted in Sanya, Hainan Province and Shanghai, achieving continuous cooling of up to 2°C–14°C throughout the day on a typical clear sunny day. Source
  7. Amazon Web Services (AWS) has paused its orders for Nvidia's Grace Hopper solutions consisting of an Nvidia-designed Grace CPU and H100 GPU, opting instead to wait for the upcoming, more powerful Grace Blackwell superchips that include the Blackwell B200 GPU. This decision reflects a strategic move as AWS essentially wants to deploy the latest products and take advantage of its enhanced AI processing power, reports Financial Times. Nvidia introduced its Blackwell processors in March, claiming they would be four times as powerful as their predecessors for training AI large language models (LLMs) and will also enable training of larger LLMs. AWS, a leading cloud computing provider, has already shifted its orders from the Grace Hopper chip, which was launched in August, to the new Grace Blackwell model due to the short interval between their releases. Pricing details for the new Grace Blackwell solutions highlight their premium status. Analysts estimate that a GB200 chip could cost as much as $70,000, according to media reports. That might even be lower than actual pricing. A full NVL72 server rack equipped with the new hardware could cost up to $3 million, indicating a significant investment for companies looking to use the latest AI processors. AWS continues to offer other Nvidia chips, such as the H100, to its cloud customers. Despite this, Nvidia's stock, which nearly doubled in value earlier this year due to high demand for AI chips, has struggled to maintain its upward momentum since the Blackwell announcement in March, Financial Times notes. The new Blackwell chips should be entering production soon, with a full release slated for the fourth quarter. Analysts foresee a temporary hiatus in AI chip demand during this production ramp-up. As a result, investors are concerned about a potential decrease in demand during the transition between Nvidia's old and new product cycles. Analysts expect Nvidia to report a significant increase in sales for the first quarter, driven by a surge in AI infrastructure investment by major cloud service providers. However, there is apprehension about a possible pause in demand as companies await the newly announced Blackwell chips. In general, despite the potential dip in demand, analysts are optimistic. They believe new cloud, enterprise, and sovereign customers will absorb the available supply of the existing Hopper chips during the transition. Source

  9. With Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 just days away, Epic's promotional cycle has begun, starting with live, ongoing changes to the battle royale map as part of the ramp-up, and continuing with a series of small teases over the weekend. And, most importantly, we're finally getting some real info about what kind of mayhem is in store for us in Chapter 5 Season 3. And we apparently know the headlining collaboration for this season, too. Hint: It rhymes with "ballout." Read on for all the deets. When does Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 start? : Currently, Season 2 is slated to end on May 24, which is a Friday. Usually, that means that Fortnite's season will end very early in the morning on the 24th in the US, around 4 AM ET, and then the game will go down for maintenance for several hours. If all goes as planned, Season 3 will begin several hours later on the morning of May 24. But we're not making any promises on that--Season 2 had a very messy launch that saw Fortnite stay offline in maintenance for nearly a day. Will Chapter 5 Season 2 end with a live event? : Not in the "everybody logs on at noon on a Saturday for a big show" sense, no. But, like how Season 1 ended with the big hand emerging from the ground with Pandora's Box, the battle royale map is changing in real time, electrifying the giant statue at Mt. Olympus and lighting up Pandora's Box where it sits in the center of the island. After a a couple days of lightning strikes, Pandora's Box sank into the lake and the storm clouds around the statue dissipated--but now the statue is all cracked up, and we can see a huge incoming storm to the south of the island, filled with dust and ominous red lightning. Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 brings the Fallout : On May 17, Epic revealed the main collaboration for Chapter 5 Season 3: the Fallout video game franchise. This teaser image is the entire announcement of this collab, so we have very few specifics about what this will entail. But clearly there will be at least one new Fallout-themed location, and Brotherhood of Steel power armor will either be a skin or equipment that can be found on the battle royale map. And I would be very surprised if we don't get some vault dweller skins, though that could be a shop thing. Over the weekend, we also got a 15-second cinematic teaser that showed off the season's vehicular focus, which you can watch here. The fine print on this teaser mentions Epic Games and ZeniMax (which owns Fallout) as expected--and also Marvel. Having a Marvel copyright on a trailer usually means there's a Marvel thing in the trailer, though it's hardly obvious what it could be. We're going to have to wait a minute to find out, it looks like. What else is coming in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3: Aside from what's been teased, another random tidbit we know about next season is it should bring the long-awaited integration of Fall Guys into the Fortnite ecosystem. We don't know what all that will entail, but it's expected that Fall Guys will be playable inside Fortnite in some manner as a UEFN creation, that UEFN creators will be able to use Fall Guys props in their own games, and that there will be Fall Guys-related stuff in battle royale modes as well. Though all this may not happen at the same time. Source
  10. With more than ten million sold across a production run stretching more than 60 years, the Ford Mustang had a firm spot in po[CENSORED]r culture. Which means almost everyone has their own idea about what they think it should be. Whether it’s a Boulevard cruiser, something to lazily rumble its way down a motorway or to simply wake the neighbours of a Sunday morning, it probably is to me what it isn't to you. But there has always been one constant: it's one of the cheapest ways to bag yourself a new V8 coupe. This S650 generation is no different, with prices starting from £55,725 for the base GT model. That's £10,105 less than the BMW M2 and £19,399 less than the Porsche Cayman GTS. Even the more powerful Dark Horse variant - from £67,995 - is well priced considering it has an extra 7bhp and a suite of track-oriented upgrades. Ford hopes this, and the fact it is now only available with a V8, will continue the pony car's evergreen appeal among loyal customers, while also helping it to attract fresh, younger buyers. To appeal to the latter, this is the most tech-rich Mustang there has ever been - coming with twice the computing power of the last one, a drift-inducing electronic handbrake, the ability to receive over-the-air software updates and change its digital screens (up to 13.2in in size) to a retro 1970s look. You can think of the S650, then, as more a comprehensively and technologically overhauled piece of American muscle that draws on six generations of experience in trying to be the best of the breed. That last part is the key bit, because it's what we're going to find out. Ford has clearly worked to address the flaws of the previous generation, including overtly dull idling burble, the inefficiency of its V8 (we got 18.9mpg during our 2016 road test), and questionable material quality. This new generation uses the same platform and drivetrain layout, but the 2.3-litre four-pot Ecoboost engine has been dropped – although the naturally aspirated eight cylinder 5.0-litre Coyote engine charges forward into this emissions-regulated era. 11. Tyson Fury is wrong. He might say this is just another fight - he might need to treat it as such to make sure he wins it – but this is not just another fight. It’s the fight. The one that boxing, the one that sport has been waiting for. That wait, finally, is over. In the quarter of a century since Lennox Lewis was the division's undisputed champion, there have been heavyweight titlists. Indeed, for many years two great heavyweights dominated the landscape, and they could not fight each other for very good reason - Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko were brothers. In 2015 Tyson Fury began his first championship reign, upsetting Wladimir Klitschko in Dusselfdorf to win the unified WBO, WBA and IBF titles. Plagued by mental issues, Fury didn't box again for more than two years after that. While Deontay Wilder held the WBC belt, the others scattered. Anthony Joshua picked up those titles that Fury had once held. But Wilder and Joshua never agreed to an undisputed fight. Then Fury crashed back into the upper echelons of the division. Shedding a massive amount of weight he took on Wilder. Fury was held to a dramatic but controversial draw when he challenged the WBC champion in 2018. He then crushed Wilder in their 2020 rematch. Efforts to make an undisputed title fight between Fury and Joshua came to nothing after that when America's Wilder forced his contractual rights to a third bout. That final encounter was an epic, one of the most exciting heavyweight fights of all-time, with Fury rising from the canvas twice himself, dropping Wilder three times before spectacularly knocking out the American in their 11th round. Meanwhile Usyk was completing his intricately planned advance to the top of the heavyweight division. The Ukrainian had become an undisputed champion at cruiserweight in magnificent fashion, beating Marco Huck, Mairis Briedis and Murat Gassiev all in their home countries. He then outboxed Joshua to become a unified champion at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in London. Usyk walked away from a lucrative rematch with Joshua when Russia invaded Ukraine at the start of 2022. He returned to his home country to enlist in the territorial defence force and take up arms. When he was permitted to return to boxing, he rose to the occasion with style and determination, handling a ferocious effort from Joshua to win clearly. Source , Read More
  12. Aid deliveries began arriving at a U.S.-built pier off the Gaza Strip on Friday as Israel comes under growing global pressure to allow more supplies into the besieged coastal enclave, where it is at war with Palestinian militants Hamas and a famine looms. The temporary floating pier was pre-assembled at the Israeli port of Ashdod and moved into place on Thursday on the shore of Gaza, which lacks port infrastructure of its own. No U.S. troops went ashore, the Pentagon's Central Command said. "This is an ongoing, multinational effort to deliver additional aid to Palestinian civilians ... and will involve aid commodities donated by a number of countries and humanitarian organizations," the command said in a statement. After months of discussions, the United Nations has agreed to assist in coordinating aid deliveries and distribution at the floating dock under the condition the operation "respects the neutrality and independence of humanitarian operations," deputy U.N. spokesperson Farhan Haq said on Friday. The U.N. reiterated that aid deliveries by land are the "most viable, effective and efficient" way to combat the humanitarian crisis in the enclave of 2.3 million people. "Given the immense needs in Gaza, the floating dock is intended to supplement existing land crossings of aid into Gaza, including Rafah, Kerem Shalom and Erez. It is not meant to replace any crossings," Haq said. Aid offloaded at the pier will come via a maritime corridor from Cyprus, where it is first inspected by Israel. Britain said on Friday it had delivered its first aid shipment via the pier. Aid groups, the United Nations and Israel's closest allies, have all demanded that Israel do more to get aid into Gaza, which has been largely laid to waste by the Israeli campaign launched last year after the Hamas-led attacks on Israel on Oct.7. 15. Never has a Stella been so significant. No, not a pint of Belgium’s finest enjoyed at 6am in Luton airport to kick-start the holiday of a lifetime, but rather Stellantis’s new STLA (pronounced ‘Stella’ – geddit?) architecture. It’s going to underpin two million cars per year from the diverse brands within the Stellantis stable and the first of them is the Peugeot e-3008. Given the current Peugeot 3008 has been a phenomenal success for Peugeot since its 2017 launch, selling 1.3 million units in 130 countries, the pressure is on the new car to not just keep that run of form going but also to ensure sound fundamentals for so many other models to come. The e-3008 launches at a similar time to another car fitting that description, the Renault Scenic, and has a broad spread of rivals ranging from the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 to the Tesla Model Y. The STLA Medium architecture (there are also Small, Large and Frame ones in the works for other sizes of car, but Medium comes first) has been designed for electric cars first and foremost and then adapted to house internal combustion engine and plug-in hybrid powertrains rather than the other way around. But the differences are such that it could almost be considered a native architecture for electric cars. The STLA Medium’s chief engineer, Hervé Scheidegger, says “everything has been chosen around the battery” - and the battery has been used for lots of secondary functions, including rigidity. The architecture is designed for cars between 4.3m and 4.9m in length, and with wheelbases of 2.7-2.9m. So at just over 4.5m long and with a wheelbase of 2.7m, the e-3008 is towards the more compact end of models that will use STLA Medium. That puts it at the smaller end of the class, being shorter than the Volkswagen ID 4, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Tesla Model Y, but bigger than the Kia Niro EV. Never has a Stella been so significant. Visually, it has way more presence than an Audi Q4 E-tron, which itself looks increasingly dated In terms of incoming sibling models, both a seven-seat Peugeot e-5008 SUV and a fastback-style e-408 are due on sale in the UK later in 2024, using the same platform. And the advantages that platform does - and doesn’t - give the e-3008 are interesting to note. Unlike most of its rivals, this is a primarily front-driven car - and a relatively heavy one (between 100- and 230kg heavier than key rivals). It’d likely have been a challenge to make a rear-mounted drive motor sit comfortably in a mid-sized, seven-seat car like the e-5008, if you think about it. But, because the platform itself needs to be able to support the greater weight of bigger cars, it’s probably necessarily a little over-engineered for this application - hence the kerbweight issue. The car’s bulk doesn’t seem to hurt range. Buyers can choose a 73- or 98kWh drive battery, the latter delivering lab-test range of beyond 400 miles, and even the former getting well beyond 300-. Aaron Rodgers' New York Jets and the New England Patriots will both play in London as part of the NFL's 2024 international schedule, while the Jacksonville Jaguars return for back-to-back games in the UK for the second year in a row. The Jets kick off the season's UK road trip on Sunday October 6 when they face the Minnesota Vikings in Week Five at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which will then play stage to the unofficial fourth London game between De La Salle and the NFL Academy under the Tuesday night lights the following week. The Chicago Bears, led by No 1 overall pick Caleb Williams, then play the Jaguars at Tottenham in Week Six, before Jerod Mayo's Patriots face Jacksonville at Wembley Stadium on Sunday October 20. Germany meanwhile welcomes a regular season game for the third successive year when the New York Giants take on the Carolina Panthers at Munich's Allianz Arena. Four-time MVP quarterback Rodgers is primed to lead the Jets out at Tottenham as he makes his return to action having suffered a season-ending ruptured Achilles just four plays into his debut with the team in 2023. Awaiting him is a Vikings team entering a new chapter following the departure of quarterback Kirk Cousins, who signed with the Atlanta Falcons earlier this offseason. The Patriots also arrive after a period of significant change as Mayo begins his first season as head coach after succeeding the great Bill Belichick, who departed the organisation after 24 seasons and six Super Bowl victories. New England could also be led by rookie quarterback Drake Maye, who was selected as the third overall pick at the NFL Draft. The Jaguars continue their long-standing relationship with the UK by agreeing to another two-week stay in the capital following successive wins over the Falcons and Buffalo Bills during their fortnight overseas last year Source
  17. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has been shot and wounded and is in a life-threatening condition. Mr Fico was shot as he greeted crowds in front of a cultural community centre in the town of Handlova, where a government meeting had been held. Several shots were heard, before his security detail bundled him into a nearby car. The Slovak leader has been taken to hospital and his alleged assailant detained by police. "A crowd was waiting outside [the cultural centre] and one of them started shooting," said journalist Juraj Bury, who was inside the building at the time of the attack at about 14:30 (12:30 GMT) in Handlova, about 180km (112 miles) north-east of the capital Bratislava. A witness told the Dennik N website that she heard three or four shots and saw Mr Fico fall to the ground. She saw wounds to his head and chest. Three of the prime minister's guards quickly helped him up from beside a bench and rushed him into a car. Local reports say he was then airlifted by helicopter to a nearby hospital before he was later flown to another hospital in Banska Bystrica, east of Handlova. In a message posted later on Mr Fico's Facebook page, his staff said he was shot a number of times and was "currently in a life-threatening condition". They said he was being transported to Banksa Bystrica as he needed urgent surgery. The next few hours would be decisive, the message said. A video showed several civilian bystanders as well as guards detaining the suspect just outside the cultural centre in Handlova. The man, wearing a pale-blue shirt, was then seen sitting on the ground, his hands tied behind his back. The BBC has not yet verified the footage. Local media have said the suspect is a 71-year-old writer and political activist, although these reports have not been confirmed. Reuters A man was immediately detained after the shootingReuters A man was immediately detained by guards and bystanders in Handlova In her initial reaction to the shooting, Slovakia's outgoing president Zuzana Caputova said she was "utterly shocked by today's brutal" attack on the prime minister. She condemned the attack in the "strongest possible terms" and wished him strength to recover. In a statement to media later, Ms Caputova said that something "so serious had happened that we can't even realise it yet". "The hateful rhetoric we witness in society leads to hateful acts. Please, let's stop it," she added. Mr Fico, 59, returned to power in Slovakia after elections last September, at the head of a populist-nationalist coalition. His first few months as prime minister have proved highly contentious politically. In January he halted military aid to Ukraine and last month pushed through plans to abolish public broadcaster RTVS. Thousands of Slovaks have protested against the proposed reform of the public broadcaster in recent weeks. However, a planned opposition-led demonstration was called off on Wednesday as news of the shooting emerged. Source , Read More

  23. Reuters reports that Tencent is working to adapt FromSoftware’s mega hit into a mobile game, but progress is described as “slow”. Apparently Tencent wants the Elden Ring mobile game to work similarly to gacha game Genshin Impact, with a free-to-play business model supported by in-app purchases. But the design of Elden Ring, which is a single-player, premium action role-playing game, is “at odds” with Tencent’s vision. News of an Elden Ring mobile game comes amid what fans hope is the imminent release of the hotly anticipated Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree. Various changes to the back end of Elden Ring’s entry in Steam suggest something is afoot. So far, however, both developer FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco have remained quiet. As for Tencent, it appears to be struggling to create mobile game hits based on established PC and console games. Last week it emerged Tencent had canceled an unannounced Nier mobile game.
