  1. Audi has unveiled the RS6 GT as a limited-run celebration of its V8 super-estate, as it embarks on a wide-reaching electrification programme. Complete with performance-enhancing aero tweaks, bespoke carbonfibre body panels, an outlandish retro livery and a marked price increase over the standard car, the special edition will be limited to just 660 examples worldwide, 60 of which will be sold in the UK. The model is effectively a road-legal evolution of the radical RS6 GTO concept – created in 2020 by a team of Audi apprentices with inspiration from the firm’s legendary 1989 IMSA GTO race car – and is based on the top-rung Performance version of the RS6. Autocar exclusively revealed last year that a “more extreme” RS6 was inbound after then Audi Sport boss Sebastian Grams told us: “We can go even further. We can make the car even stronger, even more performance, even sharper…” Speaking at the car’s launch, Audi Sport managing director Rolf Michl told Autocar that when the 2020 concept was revealed, it was not guaranteed to become a production car. He said: “Every RS has to fulfil a certain role, so internally it was a really tough discussion for us. The commitment was that we have to stick as close as possible to the GTO concept but always reflect the characteristics of an RS. “Then the team had to work as quickly as possible because even doing things like a carbonfibre bonnet or fenders, it is huge.” Michl stopped short of confirming whether this is the last V8-powered car from Audi Sport, but he went on to explain that it was more a “showcase of new materials” than a “final vision” for the firm. For example, it is the first Audi to use carbonfibre for the bonnet and wings and also employs this material on its wheels. Michl said: “We wanted to showcase [new materials] because carbonfibre is one of the basics in racing and the reduction of unsprung masses is always an aim. So with that, we just wanted to show how we could even improve a car with several attachments and make technology visible.” Source , Read More
  2. Lisandro Martinez was forced off in the second half of Man Utd's 3-0 win over West Ham on Sunday February 4; defender suffered injury after tangling with Vladimir Coufal, with Erik ten Hag saying it was a "personal disaster"; Martinez only returned from a long-term foot injury in January. Lisandro Martinez has been ruled out for at least eight weeks with ligament damage in his right knee. The 26-year-old defender sustained the injury during Manchester United's 3-0 win over West Ham on Sunday February 4, after which Erik ten Hag admitted the issue could be "very bad" and was a "personal disaster". Martinez suffered the injury when tangling with Vladimir Coufal as he attempted to shield the ball out for a goal-kick in the second half at Old Trafford and was replaced shortly afterwards. Martinez initially tried to play on after the incident but soon pulled up again before trudging off the pitch, and United confirmed the nature of the injury in a statement on Monday evening. A Man Utd statement said: "Lisandro Martinez has sustained an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his knee and is expected to be out of action for at least eight weeks. "The Argentine defender left the field in the 71st minute of our 3-0 win over West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday. "We all wish Licha a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the pitch later in the season." The Argentina defender spent nearly three months on the sidelines before returning for the 2-2 draw with Tottenham on January 14. After he was brought back into the side, United won three and drew one of their four games. However, they have actually won more points and conceded fewer goals per match without Martinez in the side in the Premier League this season.
  3. in eastern Syria overnight has killed several fighters from Kurdish-led forces. The United Kingdom-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said on Monday that seven fighters were killed and at least 18 others injured. within areas they control,” the observatory said of Monday’s incident. The SOHR added that since October 19, “108 attacks” were carried out on bases of the US-led Combined Joint Task Force across Syria. The US-led coalition was set up in 2014 to fight ISIL (ISIS). The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced a different death toll, saying: “Six of our fighters were martyred due to a terrorist attack” with a one-way drone, targeting a “training academy in the Al Omar oilfield”. The US military hit Tehran-backed groups in Iraq and Syria on Friday and Saturday. US and UK forces unleashed attacks against 36 Houthi targets in Yemen on Sunday. The US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces “conducted a strike in self-defense against a Houthi … land attack cruise missile” and later hit “four anti-ship cruise missiles, all of which were prepared to launch against ships in the Red Sea”. 5. It’s now a decade since British sports car and saloon specialist Jaguar chose a motor show stand in Geneva, Switzerland, to tell the world that it was finally taking on one its toughest assignments in modern times: going after the BMW 3 Series. This time, unlike with the Ford Mondeo-based X-Type, it would do that with a proper, rear-driven saloon worth its salt. Later in 2014, the extensively aluminium-constructed Jaguar XE met the world’s motoring press in Paris, and production at Castle Bromwich began the following year. And now - after for so long trying to compete with arguably the most dominant and successful executive saloon in the world, and lately setting its sights a little lower - the XE is staring retirement in the face. By 2025, we are told, Jaguar’s modern reinvention as an all-electric brand will be up and running - and every one of its old combustion-engined models, this one included, will have been withdrawn from sale. So now in its twilight years - and itself like some tribute to a time when Jaguar still harboured ambitions to strike out among Europe’s big-selling premium brands, rather than transforming itself into a zero-emissions luxury player as it seems now intent on doing - what does the XE have to offer today’s executive saloon buyer? And it might it be worth one final fling in a British-built, combustion-engined saloon, before the lights finally go out on Jaguar saloons as we have known them? The Jaguar XE’s showroom fortunes tell a story of great ambition, a few questionable choices, and bad timing on behalf of its maker. It adopted the same D7a platform chassis that serves under the XF, F-Pace and the Range Rover Velar and that confers an all-aluminium chassis design (in a class where predominantly steel cars remain the norm), longways engines, double-wishbone front suspension, multiple links at the rear, and a natively rear-wheel-drive layout (with clutch-actuated, electronically controlled four-wheel drive on some models). Ten years ago, that kind of construction was exotic enough to compare fairly favourably with the Mercedes C-Class, BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 of the time. But what’s really interesting to observe is what has happened to the compact executive car market since 2014, and exactly where the Jaguar XE fits into it now. Because although it was slightly small by class standards when introduced, this car’s market positioning has crept down a market segment, while its original rivals have crept up. As we’ll explore more fully later, through model renewals and mission expansions, the BMW 3 Series and its German equivalents have become cars that it’s realistically impossible to pay less than £40,000 for, with many big-selling versions ‘transacting’ much nearer £50k. While the XE was singularly failing to match the sales volumes of those executive rivals, though, it was slowly amortising its fixed costs, avoiding complication and embracing a relative value advantage that now delivers it to market from little more than £33,000 in entry-level diesel form, and from under £37k even as a fairly potent, mid-range, 247bhp four-cylinder turbo petrol. It’s probably not by chance, then, that in the new range-topping P300 AWD Sport trim that we’re testing it in in 2024, the XE lines up as an almost exact match on price with Audi’s S3 Quattro saloon and the BMW M235i xDrive M Sport. Both of those Germans are, of course, transverse-engined, natively front-wheel-drive competitors with necessarily higher engine packaging, higher centres of gravity and less equal weight distributions – and both could be said to be derived from hatchback platforms. Could these be the glory days of Jaguar’s smallest saloon, then? Looking back through its life, there were certainly times when it had more sound and fury. The demise of the AJ126-powered V6 XE S in 2017 is a particular shame - and the short-lived, herocially over-engined Project 8 super-saloon is especially hard to forget. However you see it, Jaguar has just cut down the XE’s derivative range for possibly one last time. There are now only five models left within it in total. Three rear-driven, mild-hybrid four-cylinder D200 diesels (R-Dynamic S, SE Black and HSE Black, each with 201bhp); one upper-mid-range, rear-drive, R-Dynamic HSE Black P250 petrol; and one final range-topping P300 AWD Sport range-topper. The last of those happens to be the only XE now offered with all-wheel drive, and it’s the only one that gets adaptive dampers as standard (Configurable Dynamics and uprated brakes are optional on lower-level models). The range-topping XE we tested weighed in at 1740kg on Millbrook’s proving ground scales – 89kg heavier than its homologated kerb weight, but fitted with at least some optional equipment (panoramic glass roof, etc) to explain away the ballast. 6. Wales rugby great Barry John has died at the age of 79. The former Wales and British and Irish Lions fly-half died peacefully in hospital, his family announced. A family statement read: "Barry John died peacefully today at the University Hospital of Wales surrounded by his loving wife and four children. "He was a loving Dadcu to his 11 grandchildren and much-loved brother." John, who was nicknamed 'The King' by New Zealand journalists after he inspired the Lions' famous 1971 Test series victory over the All Blacks, won 25 Wales caps between 1966 and 1972. He also played in five Lions Tests on their 1968 and 1971 tours, before retiring from rugby at the age of 27. John played his club rugby for Llanelli and then Cardiff, where he struck up a half-back partnership with Gareth Edwards that went on to flourish for Wales and the Lions. John was partnered by Edwards in 23 of his Wales international appearances, plus all five Lions Tests - one against South Africa and four against New Zealand. Another star of Welsh rugby's golden era, full-back JPR Williams, died four weeks ago. Jonathan Davies, one of the most renowned Welsh players of the 1980s and 1990s, paid tribute to John, writing on X: "RIP Barry - another one of my heroes sadly gone. #BarryJohnTheKing" John will be particularly remembered for his performances on the two Lions Tours, in which he scored 30 of the Lions' 48 points across four Tests. Calling him "truly one of the greatest", the Lions added in a statement: "We are hugely saddened that the great Barry John has passed away at the age of 79. "Barry inspired so many and will forever be remembered for how much he gave to the sport. All our thoughts are with his family and friends." Scarlets, with whom John started his first-class career in 1964, described John as "an icon of the game", while former Lions tourist John Devereux tweeted: "My greatest idol of all time has gone". 7. Salvadorans voted on Sunday in elections expected to hand President Nayib Bukele another landslide victory, with many happy to overlook the young leader's authoritarian drift after he crushed gang violence that had paralyzed life in the poor Central American country. Bukele, 42, appears poised to become the first Salvadoran president in almost a century to be re-elected. Wildly po[CENSORED]r, Bukele has campaigned on the success of his security strategy under which authorities suspended civil liberties to arrest more than 75,000 Salvadorans without charges. The detentions led to a sharp decline in nationwide murder rates and transformed a country of 6.3 million people that was once among the world's most dangerous. But some analysts have said the mass incarceration of 1% of the po[CENSORED]tion is not a sustainable long-term strategy. Five other presidential candidates are contesting the elections, including politicians from the former leftist guerrilla Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN) and the right-wing Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA). These two traditional parties between them governed for 30 years until 2019. Polls show most voters appear set to reward Bukele for decimating the crime groups that made life intolerable in El Salvador and fueled waves of migration to the United States. Victor Lopez, a 65-year-old construction worker, was among the first 10 people lined up at a voting center on one of the capital San Salvador's main avenues. "We have to continue the changes that are happening in our country - positive changes. We have no crime, tourism has skyrocketed and other positive things," Lopez told Reuters. "We cannot let the corrupt people from before have power again because then the projects that the government is executing could not be executed," Lopez added. Pre-election polling put support in the single digits for the FMLN and ARENA candidates, with voters fed up after decades of traditional politics marked by violence and corruption. Voting centers were plastered with Bukele's New Ideas cyan blue, with supporters wearing celestial Nayib t-shirts. There was very little presence of support for the opposition. "The country has changed so much, we don't want it to fall into the hands of the past, so I'm happy to vote for him," said Roberto Hernandez, a 46-year-old accountant in the capital. "The opposition is where it is because of his actions." He dismissed concerns about authoritarianism, but said Bukele needs to address the economy in a second term. Source , Read More

  9. Coffee Stain Studios will finally launch Satisfactory 1.0 later this year, it has announced in an update video. Studio Community Manager Snutt Treptow laid out the 1.0 plans — along with a definitely not-fake roadmap filled with guns, fast cars, and romanceable creatures — today. There’s no release date yet, but the team is confident that there will be no more Early Access updates for players to wait through before the full factory-building experience becomes available. As for what Satisfactory 1.0 looks like, Coffee Stain says players can expect new content, fixes for long-lasting issues, an end game and narrative, and more. As these final features are ironed out, Treptow says that there will be “next to no patches for the game until the full release.” “Back in 2021, when we released Update 5, we sort of divided our focus into two development tracks,” he said. “One track was dedicated to the content that would go into each subsequent update, and the other was content exclusively aimed for the 1.0 release. So, our attention at the studio has sort of been divided between handling update launches with everything that comes with that and at the same time working on new content that we didn’t want to reveal until the full release of the game.” Late last year, Coffee Stain brought these two teams together to move full steam ahead toward 1.0. Now that both branches are one, he says that it is “no longer possible for us to release any major patches in between them.” All of the work on issues big and small will be release when the Satisfactory launch build arrives, which Treptow says includes the effort put toward things like dedicated servers. Coffee Stain says it’s still in Alpha but is close to reaching the feature-complete Beta phase. After that milestone is secured, players can expect to hear about a closed Beta test. You can sign up for this limited test now by clicking here. Satisfactory came to Early Access on the Epic Games Store in March 2019, nearly five years ago. It’s received numerous updates since and eventually came to Steam. Development will continue after the launch build arrives, though it’s “up in the air and yet to be decided” what post-launch will look like exactly. 13. Dutch coachbuilder Heritage Customs has started production of its soft-top convertible Land Rover Defender, with the firm’s second example already under way at its Enter factory. Based on the L663-generation Defender 90, the Valiance Convertible has been heavily modified to feature a sixth seat, forged wheels, bespoke leather trim, sports seats and other changes to both its interior and exterior. The Valiance Defender has been finished with Sunbeam Yellow paint, with contrasting exterior features in black, including the vehicle’s roll cage, front bonnet plates and side air vents. Its fabric top is handmade and electronically controlled. Inside, the Valiance Defender is fitted with black quilted upholstery, aluminium panelling and an additional passenger seat positioned in the centre of the front row. It also features yellow stitching to match the exterior paintwork. As reported by Autocar in 2022, Heritage Customs will build just five examples of this convertible Defender, each priced at more than £100,000. Around £58,000 of that figure is for the conversion itself, with the price of the base car making up the rest. However, this doesn’t include modifications to the powertrain, which will remain in factory specification as chosen by the customer. Company co-owner Niels van Roij said the convertible “embraces the 90 bodystyle and the history of this motor car in its previous generation, with the charming soft-top”. It’s not the first time van Roij has produced an unconventional coachbuilt model. The Dutch designer has previously launched a Rolls-Royce Wraith-based shooting brake and an estate-bodied Tesla Model S. Heritage says the Valiance Convertible also precedes another drop-top conversion, which it describes as the “next iteration of the Heritage Customs Valiance Convertible”. It will be revealed in the next few months. Source
  14. England begin Six Nations campaign in Italy on February 3 and wrap up tournament with clash against France on March 16; Jamie George confirmed as captain after Owen Farrell steps away from international rugby; Wales-born wing Immauel Feyi-Waboso earns first call-up Jamie George has been confirmed as England captain for the Six Nations following Owen Farrell's decision to step away from international rugby, while Wales-born wing Immanuel Feyi-Waboso has earned a maiden call-up. Hooker George, 33, will guide England through a campaign that begins away to Italy on February 3 and concludes against France in Lyon on March 16 as they look to improve on last year's fourth-placed finish and build on coming third at the 2023 World Cup. Farrell announced in November that he would miss the 2024 Six Nations to focus on his and his family's wellbeing and is not in the 36-player squad named by head coach Steve Borthwick. Exeter Chiefs star Feyi-Waboso was not named in Wales' group on Tuesday amid reports that he had chosen to represent England and the 21-year-old has now been selected by Borthwick. Feyi-Waboso is one of seven uncapped players in the England party, along with Chandler Cunningham-South (Harlequins), Ethan Roots (Exeter), Oscar Beard (Harlequins), Fraser Dingwall (Northampton), Tom Roebuck (Sale) and Fin Smith (Northampton. Borthwick said: "Manny (Feyi-Waboso) really impressed us, not just on the pitch. We can all see the power he brings, the speed he brings. He finds a way through contact when there doesn't appear to be a way through there. "When I rang him, I could sense that excitement and buzz down the phone, he was thrilled. And that gave me a real energy and a real buzz as well." Source
  15. The U.S. government on Wednesday returned the Yemen-based Houthi rebels to a list of terrorist groups in the latest attempt by Washington to stem attacks on international shipping. Officials said the "Specially Designated Global Terrorist" (SDGT) designation, which hits the Iran-aligned group with harsh sanctions, was aimed at cutting off funding and weapons the Houthis have used to attack or hijack ships in vital Red Sea shipping lanes. "This designation is an important tool to impede terrorist funding to the Houthis, further restrict their access to financial markets, and hold them accountable for their actions," White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said in a statement. "If the Houthis cease their attacks in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, the United States will immediately reevaluate this designation." President Joe Biden's administration also issued "carve outs" aimed at avoiding an impact on Yemen's po[CENSORED]tion, which relies on food imports and humanitarian aid, and pledged to conduct outreach to groups including aid agencies before the designation comes into effect in 30 days. The Houthis' campaign has disrupted global commerce, stoked fears of inflation and deepened concern that fallout from the Israel-Hamas war could destabilize the Middle East. Biden last week called the Houthis a "terrorist" group. American and British warplanes, ships and submarines have launched dozens of airstrikes targeting the Houthis, who control the most populous parts of Yemen. The U.S. military on Tuesday carried out its latest strike against four Houthi anti-ship ballistic missiles, two U.S. officials told Reuters. On Wednesday, Houthi spokesperson Mohammed Abdulsalam told Reuters the designation would not affect operations, which the group says are in support of the Palestinians and target Israeli ships or ships heading to Israel. The attacks are part of a broad response to the Gaza conflict by a so-called Axis of Resistance - including the Houthis alongside Palestinian militants Hamas, Lebanon-based Hezbollah and Iraq's Shiite militias - with ties to U.S. adversary Iran. "We will continue to counter and blunt Iranian malign influence wherever we can. So of course the choice to move away from Iran is now in the hands of the Houthis," said one of three administration officials who briefed reporters ahead of the announcement on condition of anonymity. HUMANITARIAN SITUATION A Saudi Arabia-led military coalition intervened in Yemen in 2015, backing government forces fighting the Houthis in a war widely seen as a proxy conflict between U.S. ally Saudi Arabia and Iran. Former President Donald Trump's administration added the Houthis to two lists designating them as terrorists a day before its term ended. The United Nations, aid groups and some U.S. lawmakers expressed fears that sanctions would disrupt flows of food, fuel and other commodities into Yemen. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Feb. 12, 2021, revoked the designations in "recognition of the dire humanitarian situation in Yemen." On Wednesday the Houthis were relisted as a SDGT group, but not as a "foreign terrorist organization," which includes stricter prohibitions on providing material support to those on the list and would mean automatic travel bans. U.S. officials said this would make it easier to exempt humanitarian goods from sanctions. The U.N. describes the humanitarian crisis in Yemen as "severe" with more than 21 million people — two thirds of the po[CENSORED]tion — in need of aid. It says more than 80% of the po[CENSORED]tion struggles to access food, safe drinking water and adequate health services. Asked about the U.S. move, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said the United Nations was committed to continuing its work in the country "in line with our principles of impartiality, neutrality and independence." "Unilateral sanctions, in any context, can have an impact - often unintended - on the well-being of civilians," he added. The U.S. Treasury Department also issued licenses authorizing certain transactions involving the Houthis, including transactions related to agricultural commodities, medicine, medical devices, telecommunications and personal remittances. Also authorized were transactions involving the Houthis related to port and airport operations and transactions related to refined petroleum products in Yemen. "The Houthis must be held accountable for their actions, but it should not be at the expense of Yemeni civilians," Blinken said in a statement. Source

  17. Call of Duty: Warzone players excited to jump into Season 1 Reloaded are running into new issues that are leaving the game almost unplayable. The Season 1 refresh update dropped for all players today, bringing new cosmetics, multiplayer maps, changes to the Zombies formula, anti-cheat improvements, and more across the entire Call of Duty experience. They’re enticing additions that many battle royale fans aren’t getting to enjoy. Those who hop into the open-world FPS mode are being met with intense visual and gameplay glitches if they are able to make it into a match at all. Social media sites like X/Twitter are already filled with clips and reports of lackluster experiences. A notorious clip making the rounds sees streamer Fifakill struggling to move at all after attempting to open the “Create a Class” menu. For its part, Call of Duty: Warzone developer Raven Software has published a statement regarding the state of Warzone Season 1 Reloaded. The developer has removed the Champion's Quest feature, which asks players to win five Warzone matches in a row or 30 total in the season, and plans to add it back in "at the earliest possible opportunity." "At the moment, the current state of the update does not meet our standards for quality and gameplay, and we are committed to addressing the issues promptly to ensure that all players can enjoy #Warzone to the fullest extent possible," the statement says. "Our goal is always to provide a smooth and seamless experience." Raven is used to making changes on the fly but has yet to announce when a fix for today’s Season 1 Reloaded issues will arrive. However, the team has reported that the Loadout, geographical distortion, Killstreak notification, and main menu loop bugs are being looked into. Call of Duty: Warzone was previously meant to bring Weapons Cases and Covert Exfil’s to the experience before Raven decided to delay the features due to negative fan feedback. No information on when those features will make their way to players has been revealed. Source , Read More

  20. Given that the Ford Puma of the late 1990s arrived with the bold tagline ‘A driver’s dream’, Ford's decision to reprise the name of its pint-size coupé on the tailgate of a crossover seems perplexing. With a larger frontal area, a higher centre of gravity and more weight, the Puma clearly distances itself from traditional ‘driver’s dream’ territory where the 1034kg original did everything budgets would allow to get closer. But times have changed. Today, the compact crossover class is bursting at the seams with members as manufacturers cash in on demand for SUVs and the mass-market space for more unusual, enthusiast-minded projects has rapidly shrunk. However, what this segment was long devoid of was something genuinely good to drive, which is where – Ford said – this Puma justified its name. After all, it is the smallest Ford currently on sale, and shares a platform with the now-departed Ford Fiesta, which remains the dynamic benchmark in the supermini class. The Puma is the first small Ford to use hybrid power, in the form of a 48V system bolstering a three-cylinder petrol turbo engine. The car’s striking design, described as ‘anti-wedge’ by one Ford designer, is intended to steal sales from more premium brands, notably Mini. Strong ergonomics were also promised, with the Puma possessing one of the largest boot capacities in the small SUV class, more passenger space than the Fiesta and what Ford calls the Megabox – an 80-litre compartment under the boot floor. Fully digital instrument dials and level two ‘autonomous’ driver aids should add to its appeal. How, then, does the smallest Ford measure up to the likes of the Nissan Juke, Seat Arona, Skoda Kamiq, Renault Captur, Vauxhall Mokka and Volkswagen T-Cross? The UK Puma line-up is relatively straightforward. Power comes from Ford’s 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol three-pot, which is available with either 123bhp or 153bhp. Each features mild-hybrid assistance and a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, but the 123bhp engine can also be had with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Titanium spec represents the entry level and is followed by ST-Line, ST-Line X and ST-Line Vignale. If those options sound too sedate, there is also the Ford Puma ST, which now assumes the role of the company’s junior hot hatch. This is offered with the choice of an uprated 167bhp version of the 1.0-litre mild-hybrid engine, mated to the seven-speed auto ‘box, or an electrically-unassisted 1.5-litre unit that is paired with the six-speed manual, and outputs 197bhp. A battery-electric version of the Puma is in the pipeline, but this is not scheduled to go on sale until early 2025. The Puma is built in Ford's Craiova plant in Romania and sits on the same B2 platform as the Fiesta, although this has been stretched and widened to meet the more spacious crossover brief. The upsizing is considerable, the new model being 146mm longer (95mm of which is accounted for in the wheelbase) and 71mm wider than the supermini, with track width up 58mm. Naturally, the roofline also sits far higher, while the exterior design rivals that of the Juke for sheer individuality and references the original Puma in its slightly bug-eyed, open-mouthed face. Ford deliberately made the car’s beltline flatter than usual in an effort to keep the car’s proportions balanced and less raked towards the nose, as is commonplace among rivals.
  21. Jack Draper vomited into a courtside bin after overcoming struggles with the Melbourne heat while Cameron Norrie eased into second round; we will bring you live scores, reports, analysis and features from Melbourne over the next fortnight Jack Draper vomited into a courtside bin after overcoming the Melbourne heat to win his first five-set match, while British No 1 Cameron Norrie dispelled injury worries to ease into the second round of the Australian Open. Draper overcame struggles with the Melbourne heat to defeat Marcos Giron in his first five-set match. It is a measure of how inexperienced the 22-year-old still is at the highest level that he had never previously played a match that went the distance, and he looked in serious trouble at two sets to one down against American Giron. But Draper has been working hard on his physical conditioning and it paid off as he fought back to win 6-4 3-6 4-6 6-0 6-2 after three hours and 20 minutes. As soon as he had shaken hands with Giron after a final gruelling rally, he ran to the bin to be sick and it was several minutes before he was able to walk off the court. He will now have to try to recover for a second-round match, against 14th seed Tommy Paul on Thursday, when temperatures are at least forecast to be much lower. The match was dominated by punishing rallies from the start, with Draper getting the better of five straight breaks of serve and narrowly hanging on to his advantage. But the momentum began to swing Giron's way in the second set as the physicality of the match took its toll on Draper. After Giron levelled the match, the 22-year-old called the trainer to have his pulse taken and blood pressure checked. He carried on but was unable to chase down the sort of shots he had got to in the first set and his race looked run when Giron opened up a two sets to one lead. He took another off-court break to change his clothes and came out for the fourth set with a game plan to up the aggression and shorten the points.. Source , Read More

As well as the additional months in prison, the new sentence orders Ms Mohammadi to spend two years in exile outside Tehran. This means she will have to be moved from the notorious Evin prison where she is currently held. The verdict also said that after serving her time, Ms Mohammadi would be banned from traveling abroad for two years and would be barred from membership of political and social groups and from having a mobile phone for the same duration. The 51-year-old human rights activist has kept up her work despite the numerous threats and arrests. She won the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize for her work fighting against the oppression of women in Iran. Her teenage children accepted the prize, at Oslo's city hall, last month, on her behalf, having not seen their mother for years. The children read a speech which had been smuggled out of prison, where Ms Mohammadi denounced Iran's "tyrannical" government. "I write this message from behind the high, cold walls of a prison. The Iranian people, with perseverance, will overcome repression and authoritarianism," she said. Referring to the protests that began last year following the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody for allegedly wearing her hijab "improperly", Ms Mohammadi said young Iranians had "transformed the streets and public spaces into a place of widespread civil resistance". 24. Take-Two Interactive, the owner of Grand Theft Auto 6 developer Rockstar Games, and Remedy Entertainment, the studio behind Alan Wake 2, are locked in a trademark dispute over their R-depicting logos. As first reported by RespawnFirst, Take-Two filed a trademark dispute against Remedy in the United Kingdom over the rebranded logo it released last year. Its logo now solely depicts the letter R, or is sometimes styled with "Remedy" underneath, which Take-Two seemingly believes is too similar to Rockstar's own R logo. The UK government's website lists both logos, available here and here, as opposed, with Take-Two named as the opponent. Remedy's new logo was unveiled in April 2023 as a "refreshed visual identity" following its departure from being a developer known for just one game. The previous logo referenced the studio's first franchise Max Payne with a bullet, but Remedy has since developed the Alan Wake and Control franchises. "The bullet in the letter R in the old logo represented the era of Max Payne, but the Remedy of now is much bigger than a single game; we have a whole portfolio of games, new and old," it said in a blog post. "It was time to update and redefine our visual identity to bring more consistency, showcase our evolution over the years, and better express our vision of today’s Remedy." What makes this trademark dispute even more bizarre is the fact Remedy and Rockstar Games are working together on the Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne remakes. The two parties signed a new publishing agreement back in 2022 to remake the first two Max Payne games for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, with Remedy handling development and Rockstar financing the project. Alongside its continued support for the decade old Grand Theft Auto 5, Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto 6 in December 2023. The game isn't due out until 2025, but that hasn't stopped fans (including us) obsessing over every detail of the trailer. As for Remedy, the studio is currently working on several games in the Control franchise after releasing its psychological horror adventure Alan Wake 2 in October 2023. In our 9/10 review of that one, IGN said: "Alan Wake 2 is a superb survival horror sequel that makes the cult-classic original seem like little more than a rough first draft by comparison."
