The Aceh Ulema Council (MPU) has issued a fatwa against the online shooting game PlayerUnknown’s Battleground (PUBG), claiming it promotes bad behavior. “Aceh’s MPU has prohibited PUBG and similar games from being played in Aceh,” MPU Aceh deputy head Faisal Ali said on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com. He added that the council had conducted a study on the game and held a hearing with IT and fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) experts as well as psychologists during the Aceh MPU’s 2019 Plenary Meeting. The council ruled that PUBG was a bad influence on its players, who gradually become bad-tempered and addicted to the game. “[Children] become upset if their parents forbid them from playing it [PUBG],” he said, adding that this also happened among married couples. Faisal said the MPU had also come up with recommendations for related institutions to oversee and promote the fatwa among the public “It has to be supported by all elements [in society], not to mention the government, parents, and internet providers.”

What just happened? The PCI-SIG (Peripheral Component Interconnect Special Interest Group) has just announced the PCIe 6.0 specification. That's rather quick given that PCIe 5.0 specs were made public just a month ago. And it's way ahead of the market adoption rate for PCIe 4.0 for which consumers have just started to get excited about. Motherboard manufactures will have lots of hardware added to their pipeline as PCIe 6.0 specifications were announced yesterday at the PCI-SIG Developers Conference 2019. The successor to PCIe 5.0 revealed last month looks to double transfer speeds with 256GB/s transfers. This quadruples the speed of PCIe 4.0 hardware that's just started to make its way to consumers.

A new Tesla isn't cheap, even if you opt for baseline option, but until now it's been possible to ease the strain on your wallet by opting for a black paint job rather than the flashier silver or blue options. That's about to change though, with the cost of a dark finish shooting up by $1,000 (around £800, AU$1,400). The price hike is scheduled for next month, so if you've been mulling a new purchase and fancy turning to the dark side, you'd better move quickly. Tesla Model Y release date, news and rumors Self-driving cars: everything you need to know Your complete guide to electric vehicles Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the change on Twitter, but didn't give a reason for the pricier paint. Ups and downs Musk was quick to shut down suggestions that the company might start to offer cars in other colors, noting that adding new shades would make future servicing difficult, leading to "a long tail of hurt". The company has made several tweaks to its pricing in recent months. In March it dropped the price of an entry-level Model 3, and in April Musk tweeted that the price of cars equipped with Full Self Driving mode would "increase substantially over time". It's also worth bearing in mind that, despite the name, Full Self Driving isn't the same as full autonomy, and you can't get away with cruising along a busy highway at 65mph while fast asleep, no matter how much you paid for it.

World-famous sports brand Nike met Indonesian instant noodle icon Indomie in an unlikely crossover as a colorful fan design of the Air Jordan 1 Yin Yang recently became a social media sensation. In several Instagram photos originally posted by a Mr. Simply Custom, or @mr.s.custom, the retro Nike footwear, which originally came in only white and black, can now be seen sporting an entirely new color palette consisting largely of red, yellow and green – a tribute to the three main colors featured on Indomie’s original plastic wrap for its Mie Goreng (fried noodles) flavor. Additionally, Nike’s instantly recognizable Swoosh is now accompanied by the Indomie logo, alongside subtle shape outlines that resemble the curly noodles themselves. Capturing the youthful energy of both Nike enthusiasts and Indomie obsessives, the eye-popping design also boasts a cheeky slogan that reads ‘Micin Generation’, a reference to the po[CENSORED]r internet meme that pokes fun at the millennials’ affinity for Indomie’s liberal use of monosodium glutamate (MSG) in its dry seasoning powder. At the time of writing, the custom Indomie Nike design by Mr. Simply Custom has garnered more than 5,000 likes on Instagram, as well as a slew of approving tweets. Mr. Simply Custom is the online alias of Jonathan “Jonas” Gustana, a 23-year-old Indonesian university graduate based in Singapore who initially customized sneakers with hand-drawn art as a personal hobby. Jonas said he never expected his side project to be regarded as anything more than a tongue-in-cheek display of creativity.

Free DVD rippers can be enormously helpful, giving you a handy backup in case your discs become scratched, or allowing you to get rid of the physical discs altogether if you don't have room for them. It might seem like a complicated process (Windows doesn't come with any tools for the job), but with the right free software you can easily convert the disc's contents to a file that can be stored anywhere. Here we've rounded up the very best free DVD rippers that will make the job a breeze. The nature of free DVD rippers means it's a segment of the software market that's home to a lot of malicious software. It can be difficult to know which DVD ripping software is legitimate, so we've done the hard work for you and sorted out the wheat from the chaff. As with CDs, there are no international copyright laws that cover free DVD rippers. For example, in 2014, UK copyright law was changed to legalize personal backups, but that decision was overturned by the High Court in 2015. Make sure you check out intellectual property law in your country before you rip DVDs. 1. HandBrake HandBrake is not only a free DVD ripper (or video transcoder, as it prefers to be known) but also open source, so it's totally free in every sense of the word. More than a decade in the making, the software finally reached version 1.0.0, It is – or at least looks – a little more complicated that some of the others we're looking at here, but don’t let that put you off. By default there's no support for bypassing copy-protection, but this is something you can get around with a little research (bearing in mind IP laws in your country). As with other programs, there are a number of presets ready for you to choose from, but you can also manually tailor each ripping session if you prefer. If you're working with ISO images or disc folders, it's possible to queue up multiple encoding jobs to run consecutively to save having to be around when each finishes. The sheer level of control makes HandBrake well worth a try. 2. Freemake Video Converter Freemake is a name synonymous with powerful, high quality freeware, and Freemake Video Converter doesn't let the side down. Its free DVD ripper boasts a clean, clear interface is a joy to use, and you're never left feeling in any doubt about what you're meant to do. Fire up the software, switch to the DVD section and choose your drive from the list. After disc analysis you'll need to indicate which of the video track you're interested in. You can even take things a step further and clip out segments of a video to rip rather than grabbing the whole thing. Shortcuts at the bottom of the screen provide access to po[CENSORED]r output formats (AVI, MKV, device-specific formats); just make your selection, hit 'Convert', and you're done. Unfortunately, although it doesn't contain extra bundled software, the latest version of Freemake Video Converter adds a watermark to ripped videos. If you can live with that, it's one of the most convenient DVD rippers around. 3. MakeMKV If you've used free DVD ripping software before, MakeMKV might look a little familiar – it bears more than a passing resemblance to DVD Decrypter. As well as handling DVDs, the program, is also capable of ripping Blu-ray discs, and the process works in exactly the same way in each case (although it's worth noting that Blu-ray ripping is only be free while the program is in beta). The great thing about MakeMKV is that there is so little to think about. Fire up the program, analyze your disc, choose which of the track you would like to rip, indicate where the output file should be saved, and then hit the 'Make MKV' button. That's really all there is to it. There's no messing about, no complex configuration – just analyze, rip and go. 4. DVDFab HD Decryptor DVDFab is an unusual case. The full DVDFab suite isn't free of charge, but its DVD ripping component is. When you download the software, it installs as a trial version, but the DVDFab HD Decrypter – which you need for DVD and Blu-ray ripping – remains free forever. Advertisement The free portion is rather limited, allowing you to rip discs in Full Disc or Main Movie modes only. This means that the free version is nowhere near as versatile as the other programs we've covered here, but it still has its place. 5. WinX DVD Ripper Free Edition When you install the free version of WinX DVD Ripper, you'll notice that it's actually the Platinum Edition in trial mode. This lacks a few of the features found in the premium version (mainly speed-related and a couple of specific DRM cracks), but you'll still have a powerful DVD ripper on your hands that you can use indefinitely. Advertisement WinX DVD Ripper can be used to rip directly from DVDs, but it also works with ISO images, and folders of DVD files. Once your input has been analyzed – a process that doesn't take long – you can take your pick from a raft of ready made profiles. These profiles help you to quickly output a video that's suitable for playback on specific mobile devices or, say, ideal for uploading to Facebook You can choose to rip the built-in subtitles or embed your own, and you can select which audio tracks should be included; it's all beautifully simple and pleasingly fast.

Indonesia asked the South Korean government to invite K-Pop stars to campaign for Indonesian forests in a bilateral meeting in Incheon, South Korea, a top official said in a statement on Wednesday. Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya said she met with Korea Forest Service Minister Kim Jae-hyun on the sidelines of Asia-Pacific Forestry Week (APFW) in Incheon, South Korea. Siti hoped that with the involvement of K-Pop stars, the issue would attract more youths. She mentioned several Indonesian celebrities who had campaigned for the same thing: Oppie Andaresta, Glenn Fredly and Nicolas Saputra. She said she hoped celebrities in both countries could collaborate to campaign. “The forms of collaboration could be a millennial festival for the forests, youth exchange between Korea and Indonesia, especially those in education, culture and knowledge to prepare future leaders in forestry and environment,” she said. The statement said the Korean minister welcomed the suggestion and he promised to discuss it with the Korean Embassy in Jakarta. Siti said her Korean counterpart would contact K-Pop stars for the collaboration. In the statement, Siti expressed her appreciation for the ongoing collaboration between South Korea and Indonesia on national parks, peatland management and the development of wood pellet.

In the E3 2019 event in Los Angeles, United States, last week, AMD introduced the Ryzen 9 3950X which is claimed to be the first "gaming" processor in the world with 16 CPU cores (32 threads). A leaked Geekbench benchmark that recently circulated shows that the Ryzen 9 3950X has a pretty astonishing performance. In fact, the score is higher than the Intel Core i9-9980XE which is worth more. According to the leaked benchmark, Ryzen 9 3950X produced a single core score of 5,868 points and multi core 61,072 points. Meanwhile, from the results of the average Geekbench test carried out by the owners, the Core i9-9980XE is equipped with 18 CPU cores and 36 threads are known to score 5,391 points in single core and multi-core 46,876 points. AMD will sell the Ryzen 9 3950X at a retail price of 749 dollars on the international market. The Core i9-9980XE price tag is much higher in the range of US $ 2,000 (Rp. 28.7 million). Ryzen 9 3950X itself is the top series of the latest generation of AMD Ryzen processor family. Other models below are Ryzen 9 3900X, Ryzen 7 3800X, Ryzen 7 3700X, Ryzen 5 3600X, and Ryzen 5 3600. Ryzen 9 3950X processor in benchmark leakage is probably an engineering sample because the speed is written at 3.3 GHz for base clock and turbo up to 4.3 GHz, as summarized by KompasTekno from Guru3D, Monday (06/17/2019). Therefore, there is a possibility that the actual speed of the Ryzen 9 3950X will be even higher considering the retail version of this processor will have a 3.5 Ghz base clock frequency and 4.7 GHz turbo.

Police vehicles are subjected to all kinds of use and abuse normal vehicles generally never see. That’s why virtually every vehicle in law enforcement features upgrades of some kind, and Volkswagen is hoping to add something fresh to the mix for European agencies with a tricked-up Transporter. For those on the wrong side of the law, however, we suspect tricked up is not the term they'd use to describe this ride. Specifically, VW calls this a prisoner transport van, and as the pictures below suggest, it’s not exactly a suave ride for criminals. The rear of the van is fitted with a full-width mobile prison cell that VW says ensures “safe transport for occupants.” In this instance, we suspect safe refers to the officers in the van because the cell appears to have no safety restraint or even padded seats for that matter. Not that crooks deserve a soft ride, but at least police cruisers in the U.S. have curved plastic back seats that sort-of fit a person. Not that we’ve ever been in the back of a police cruiser. You know – we’ve seen such things at special drive events. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Honestly, the accommodations for officers outside the cell aren’t terrifically inviting, either. A pair of thin, rear-facing seats allow room for two people to monitor the cell, though these seats are at least fabric and have some padding to them. Presumably the seats up front for driver and passenger are a bit more user-friendly. In addition to the interior changes. The VW Transporter also receives plenty of visual punch to let folks know this is a cop car. Should bystanders happen to somehow miss the markings, a “blue light” conversion with LED lights and a 100-watt siren should seal the deal. VW sends its Transporter vans to Safeguard SVP in Essex, which handles the full police conversion. The VW Transporter cell van debuted last week at the NAPFM Emergency Fleet Exhibition in the U.K. and is now part of a demo fleet for European police agencies to evaluate.

A 1965 Aston Martin DB5 outfitted with special gadgets for James Bond, such as tire slashers, machine guns and a bulletproof shield, will go up for auction in August, the auction house announced on Wednesday. The vehicle painted gray is expected to fetch between $4 million and $6 million, according to a statement from RM Sotheby's. The car was never seen in Bond films, but matches the one that "007" - the code number by which Bond was often known - drove in the movies Goldfinger and Thunderball. The vehicle was commissioned by filmmaker Eon Productions and used at promotional events for Thunderball in the United States, the auction house said. It includes 13 modifications created for Bond, including a Browning .30 caliber machine gun in each fender, tire slashers mounted on its wheel hubs and a bulletproof rear screen that can be raised and lowered. RM Sotheby's said the Bond modifications had been "properly refurbished to function as originally built", and has had three private owners over 50 years. The auction will take place on Aug. 15 in Monterey, California.

Facebook has curbed access to a controversial feature allowing searches of the vast content within the social network -- a tool which raised privacy concerns but was also used for research and investigative journalism. The leading social network acknowledged this week it had "paused" some elements of its "graph search," a feature introduced in 2013 which has sparked criticism for allowing posts and other content to be unearthed with a simple query. But graph search turned out to be an important tool for researchers, rights activists and journalists. It has been used to track activity of suspected war criminals and human traffickers and to monitor extremists. "We paused some aspects of graph search late last week," a Facebook spokesperson said. "We're in conversations with a few researchers to learn more about how they used this tool." Jennifer Grygiel, a Syracuse University professor who follows social media, said the move is the latest to tighten data access to Facebook since the scandal over Cambridge Analytica, the consultancy which hijacked personal data of tens of millions of Facebook users. The new curbs make it harder for researchers to find Facebook posts about topics ranging from war crimes to anorexia to the anti-vaccine movement, Grygiel said. Grygiel said while the move may be seen as promoting privacy, it also limits the ability of researchers to investigate Facebook itself and its efforts to weed out hate speech and extremist content. "Researchers like myself were using social graph to show how bad Facebook's content moderation was," she told AFP. "This may be a public relations move because Facebook is tired of having everyone understand how bad their privacy is." After being introduced in 2013, graph search drew immediate fire from privacy activists as a "creepy" tool that could enable stalking or unwanted disclosures. Facebook has made changes over the years to graph search and offered users privacy settings limiting what information is unearthed. The company did not respond to an AFP query to elaborate on the most recent changes or the reason for the new policy. Legitimate research or abuse? "This tool was used both for abusive purposes and for legitimate research," said Adi Kamdar, a legal fellow at the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University. Kamdar said Facebook's move may be troubling because of Facebook's ongoing "obstruction of good-faith journalism and research on the platform." The Knight Institute this week sent a letter to Facebook signed by some 200 journalists and researchers asking the social network for improved access to study the platform. "Digital research and journalism serve the public interest by advancing public understanding of the social media platforms," the letter said. "These platforms -- and Facebook's in particular -- have a powerful but poorly understood influence on public discourse and, by extension, on societies around the world." The letter urged Facebook to create a "safe harbor" for certain researchers and journalists that "would permit us to do our work without impeding Facebook's ability to protect the privacy of its users and the integrity of its platform." Kamdar said the letter was drafted before Facebook's latest change and that the new curbs "may be seen as a setback" for research, for example, on how Facebook's algorithms and recommendations work. Investigative journalist Michael Hayden of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors right-wing extremist groups, expressed concern over whether the change could limit the ability to track hate speech and violent activity on Facebook. "It's important to remember that these users generally want as many people to see their content as possible," Hayden said. "The greater concern would be if these changes enabled them to organize in secret on the platform. This would particularly concern me with people who plot violence and terrorism." Casey Fiesler, a University of Colorado professor and social computing researcher, said Facebook should not shut off access to its data for research but should be selective.

The end of the 2019 E3 press conference was characterized by high enthusiasm from the many new games announced and exhibited to the world. Although quite festive, but the absence of Sony makes this year's E3 event tasteless. As you know, Sony is one of the biggest and most successful gaming companies in the world that continues to produce quality games until the console is qualified in each generation. Every year they always bring great surprises that can not be separated from attention. Sony's absence from E3 2019 turned out to have a pretty clear impact, because based on information from ESA, the number of visitors to E3 2019 has decreased compared to the previous year. Even more unfortunate, most predictions and information about anticipated new games such as Starfield, Bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime 4, the latest Bravely series, the new Splinter Cell game to Beyond Good and Evil 2 were not announced at this prestigious event. Shawn Layden as CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment America explained that E3 invited an event where people were only looking forward to the announcement of the new game. He no longer likes concepts like this, and decides to ask gamers in a different way. One of them is by holding a small press conference every few months through State of Play. Do you also believe that E3 2019 isn't as strong as last year? Then whether next year Sony will re-fill the arena and be ready to announce the newest generation console for the PlayStation 4? Let's wait.

According to a study published last month by the International Trademark Association, “Gen Z Insights: Brands and Counterfeit Products,” 72 percent of young Indonesian consumers expect to purchase fewer counterfeit goods in the future. These Gen Z consumers, aged 18 to 23, are notable for their individuality, morality and flexibility. Their willingness to change comes as welcome news—given that the study also indicates that 87 percent of Indonesian Gen Zers have purchased fake goods in the past year. One of the main drivers: it’s easier to find fake goods than authentic goods, they say. At the same time, 96 percent of participants in the study agreed that respect for people’s ideas and creations is important. The study points to an interesting contradiction: young Indonesians respect innovation and creativity, but at the same time violate other people’s intellectual property (IP) by purchasing counterfeit products. With the right mix of policies and education, the ease with which counterfeits are available could be reduced, and young consumers can protect themselves and support innovation in Indonesia. Double down on promotion of innovation Indonesia’s Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) has been promoting Indonesia’s creative culture and innovation potential since the agency’s establishment in 2015. Bekraf should continue working to promote Indonesian brands, and their creators, and facilitate a future marketplace that is free of counterfeits and safe for consumers. According to Gen Z Insights, young Indonesians say the most reliable sources to learn about counterfeits are brand creators and employees, followed by media and social media influencers. Hearing directly from those affected by illicit trade, and making sure that respect for IP is part of the innovation process should not be overlooked. Agencies like Bekraf or the Intellectual Property Office can play a role in promoting these voices. Make cross-border supply chains safer and more secure Many fake goods come from overseas, including dangerous counterfeit pharmaceuticals, which account for up to perhaps 25 percent of the country’s US$2 billion pharmaceutical markets, according to the Indonesia Anti-Counterfeiting Society. Recent amendments to Indonesia’s customs laws have been helping some brands prevent the importation of counterfeits. For example, recently Indonesia enacted a customs trademark recordal system, whereby brands can file their trademark registration with customs and provide vital information to help officials at the border prevent counterfeit trade. While these provisions have been helpful, requirements that the brands filing their trademark registrations with customs must have local enterprises effectively excludes many smaller overseas brands from playing a part in the cleanup. Free Trade Zones (FTZs), while certainly helpful to reduce red tape and speed up business, contribute significantly to the manufacture and trade of fakes in Indonesia. Sometimes fake components are imported—for example, from Singapore to the island of Batam, in Indonesia—processed in Indonesia, then either shipped back overseas and into the global supply chain, or leaked into the Indonesian market. Tighter provisions to prevent transshipment of counterfeits and better oversight to prevent IP violations within FTZs is needed. Prevent the sale of counterfeits—especially online Finally, young Indonesians are well-known for being internet savvy and are the country’s largest online consumers. But unlike in physical markets, spotting a fake online can be more challenging, as clever counterfeiters trick consumers through the use of easily copied photos of authentic goods and clever use of domain names that give the impression of being authorized sellers of a brand. The police should prioritize and coordinate with government task forces dedicated to cybercrime to build awareness within the government about the importance of tracking online IP crimes, such as the sale of fake goods. After taking down these websites and online stores, the police should secure arrests for any criminal violations and prosecutors should take the cases to the court. Bringing these cases into the public eye can help reduce the demand for counterfeits, suggests the Gen Z Insights study. In Indonesia, those who do buy counterfeits say they would change their behavior if a fake product is dangerous or bad for their health (75 percent), if money spent on the products supports organized crime (75 percent) and if purchasing fake products means they have to pay a fine (75 percent). The future is authentic Indonesia’s multicultural society, spanning the world’s largest archipelago, is bursting with creativity born from a tradition of indigenous cultural expression, trade and exploration. Gen Zers recognize the value of appropriate purchasing choices: supporting creators, innovators and protecting themselves and loved ones from dangerous counterfeits. Now, it’s a matter of acting on this. With the right support, they can fulfill this vision—and make Indonesia’s marketplace an authentic one.
